Interests:

  • Just moved to Glasgow from the states where I was DMing a game so am definitely interested in learning about the TTRPG and indie game community here! by pkcoolkid (Sun 22nd Aug 2021 11:08pm)
  • You can get free lateral flow tests from pharmacies around the city I believe by pkcoolkid (Fri 27th Aug 2021 9:06am)
  • I just moved here from Brooklyn with my GF and we’re looking to go clubbing tonight as well. La Cheetah, Sub Club or Berkeley Suite by pkcoolkid (Fri 27th Aug 2021 9:06am)
  • Clubs reopened in NYC back in June and the energy was all over the place - anxiety, pent up energy, uncertainty. It’s quite a cocktail for a dance floor but it was positive for the most part. Ready to experience it all over again in Glasgow (after taking a lateral flow test)! by pkcoolkid (Fri 27th Aug 2021 10:06am)
  • Just got mine from Boots! by pkcoolkid (Fri 27th Aug 2021 10:39am)
  • have you decided on a spot for tonight? by pkcoolkid (Fri 27th Aug 2021 4:03pm)
  • We went Berkeley Suite had a good night! by pkcoolkid (Sat 28th Aug 2021 9:50pm)
  • Went there on Friday it’s definitely back! by pkcoolkid (Tue 31st Aug 2021 12:09pm)
  • Ox and Finch have dedicated Vegetarian and Vegan menus, The 78, Hug and Pint (a bit further north) by pkcoolkid (Tue 31st Aug 2021 12:09pm)
  • Post photos - I’ve just moved here and had Bucks on my list as a place to check out. Definitely interested to know if I should avoid by pkcoolkid (Tue 31st Aug 2021 11:27pm)
  • The fact alone that he’s posts on LinkedIn is cringe enough for me to avoid for now lol by pkcoolkid (Wed 1st Sep 2021 12:04am)
  • If you’re interested in TTRPGs (D&D, Cyberpunk, indie) there are a few discord’s I can point you too, just send me a message! What kind of music do you make? by pkcoolkid (Wed 8th Sep 2021 12:06pm)
  • As an American this is a bargain compared to what we pay at festivals - not that y’all shouldn’t push back anyway! by pkcoolkid (Thu 9th Sep 2021 12:53pm)
  • $15 for our top quality Bud Lite that’s freedom brother by pkcoolkid (Thu 9th Sep 2021 6:57pm)
  • I just moved here and have disregarded it as a new city smell, it smells like cat food to me. Especially pronounced on the west side by pkcoolkid (Sat 25th Sep 2021 2:42pm)
  • I’ve been receiving notices of “not delivering to your address as requested” which I never requested so I’m assuming it’s a bandwidth issue by pkcoolkid (Wed 22nd Dec 2021 4:21pm)
  • Welcome to the vegan capital of Europe! Puti Vegan Cafe, Flying Duck, Picnic, Rawnchy’s, Mono, Stereo, the 78, Nice’n’Sleazy are all favorites of mine! by pkcoolkid (Tue 15th Feb 2022 6:58pm)
  • Check out Arlington on a Friday - my mate Spike spins vinyl from 10-12 and he’ll often mix in some Kendrick or Future. He puts on an eclectic mix so don’t expect 2 hrs of one genre. It also is a bar so dance floor is a bit undefined but people will get going on a good night. by pkcoolkid (Tue 14th Jun 2022 3:09pm)
  • Glasgow is a great vegan food city - my experience with more restaurants with their labeling and options has been really positive. For dedicated vegan restaurants try: Mono, the 78, Soul Food Kitchen, Puti Vegan Cafe (if it ever reopens 😢) by pkcoolkid (Fri 29th Jul 2022 8:57am)
  • Erosion at Stereo is the night that you want to be at - skip Sub Club imho by pkcoolkid (Sat 30th Jul 2022 5:12pm)
  • Falafel To Go by pkcoolkid (Mon 8th Aug 2022 6:29pm)
  • Go to Rafa’s, it’s run by dudes from San Diego and Phoenix. It feels like being back in the states and definitely more of a west coast style (I’m from NYC by have visited San Diego a bunch) by pkcoolkid (Mon 22nd Aug 2022 10:04am)
  • Rafa’s is the only one. by pkcoolkid (Mon 22nd Aug 2022 10:02am)
  • You would be right about this if it weren’t for Rafa’s. Everything else is shite. by pkcoolkid (Mon 22nd Aug 2022 10:02am)
  • Legitimately the only good place is Rafa’s - I’m American who moved here recently from NYC so I was a bit depressed to find out the state of Mexican food in Glasgow as well as the UK in general. Rafa’s is incredible though, don’t be turned away by the menu of only tacos and burritos. It’s run by a guy from Phoenix and a guy from San Diego so they really know their shit. Everything else in Glasgow is just soggy food covered in way too much cheese. by pkcoolkid (Mon 22nd Aug 2022 10:01am)
  • Go to Rafa’s - it’s more SoCal style than texmex but you’ll feel like you’re back in the states by pkcoolkid (Mon 22nd Aug 2022 10:07am)
  • It’s a crime that Bibis is the top recommendation in this thread by pkcoolkid (Mon 22nd Aug 2022 11:42am)
  • I’m trying to help point OP in the right direction no need to be defensive about Glasgow Mexican food lol. You can go to nearly any metropolitan city in the world today and get really solid Italian/Chinese/Thai/Indian etc so it was surprising to move over to the UK and find that Mexican has not achieved that same reach. by pkcoolkid (Mon 22nd Aug 2022 11:46am)
  • Actually never been an American Football fan but love Premier League lol by pkcoolkid (Mon 22nd Aug 2022 12:08pm)
  • I agree with you that Mexican cuisine is diverse and rich and there are plenty of regional styles that aren’t represented in the US. I don’t agree that food of the Mexican diaspora - which are both huge communities in cities like San Diego and Phoenix - should be discounted from being called authentic because it was made north of the border. San Diego is 20 miles from Tijuana! I’m really just trying to highlight Rafa’s as a really special place in Glasgow that does a great job staying true to the communities they come from. If you haven’t been you should check it out! I don’t work for Rafa’s lol. by pkcoolkid (Mon 22nd Aug 2022 4:38pm)
  • What are you looking for? Glasgow has a lot of different flavors by pkcoolkid (Mon 22nd Aug 2022 5:22pm)
  • Ox and Finch (and it’s not even horrendous prices) by pkcoolkid (Tue 23rd Aug 2022 12:26pm)
  • Pizza Punks is very solid by pkcoolkid (Mon 29th Aug 2022 11:47pm)
  • The big hill in Kelvingrove by pkcoolkid (Wed 7th Sep 2022 3:50pm)
  • I moved here from the US and am constantly surprised how anti-pedestrian drivers are here - and that’s compared to the US where we’re car crazy. I’ve had cars accelerate to intimidate me when I’m crossing areas where there is no marked crosswalk but there’s no other crossing available. People forget that they’re driving heavy machinery that can kill once they get behind the wheel. by pkcoolkid (Thu 9th Feb 2023 9:59pm)
  • When I begin crossing the road the car is a safe distance away to allow me to pass, however, once I enter the driver sees me and decides to accelerate because they don’t see pedestrians as human. But really please ask yourself is there ANY excuse for a driver to ever accelerate when they see a pedestrian in the road. Slowly down to make a pedestrian feel safe is a basic human thing to do. by pkcoolkid (Fri 10th Feb 2023 2:34pm)
  • Ok please let me know how I should safely cross Elderslie St on Woodside Place when drivers come around the corner from Woodside Terrace going way over the speed limit not anticipating pedestrians. There is no crosswalk and no stop sign. This is not the only crossing like this, any time I cross an intersection in Finnieston on Argyle st I’m at risk. Stop making excuses for this. The city council needs to prioritize pedestrian safety through better street design AND drivers need to stop acting like spoiled brats who get to gun down the road without looking for pedestrians. by pkcoolkid (Fri 10th Feb 2023 2:51pm)
  • There are no crosswalks at intersections in Finnieston so I guess I’ll just never cross the road until after midnight when there’s no traffic thank you for this advice it’s a great help. 🫡 by pkcoolkid (Fri 10th Feb 2023 3:48pm)
  • Lol we’re back to my first comment - I wait until I judge it is safe to cross and then cars accelerate to intimidate me. This is a cultural issue of drivers feeling entitled to the road and as a foreigner I can tell you it’s something ive only experience here by pkcoolkid (Fri 10th Feb 2023 3:59pm)
  • I used to live in New York and I can 100% confirm that drivers here are fucking maniacs who are either willfully ignorant or openly aggressive towards pedestrians. I can’t speak to conditions in the rest of the UK, but every other country I’ve visited in Europe has such a different culture when it comes to drivers and pedestrians. I love this city but hate the drivers here. by pkcoolkid (Sun 10th Sep 2023 12:41am)

  • British people and their insane relationship to queues is something that us non-Brits will never understand 😓 The amount of time I’m at a train station or airport and see British people queuing when there is not meant to be a queue is insane - and uniquely a British thing. by pkcoolkid (Fri 3rd Nov 2023 1:45pm)
  • Yeah pretty wild to assume that you can keep track of everyone’s arrivals and set up a queue when there could be any number of different buses people could be waiting for and you don’t know exactly where the bus doors will open. Like obviously don’t be elbowing past the elderly once the bus arrives but otherwise just get on the bus in an efficient and polite manner we don’t need queues to be respectful 🤣 by pkcoolkid (Fri 3rd Nov 2023 1:54pm)
  • Five March by pkcoolkid (Tue 14th Nov 2023 11:45pm)
  • I moved from NYC to Glasgow and am really happy I did. People are so much friendlier and it’s way easier to find a community of people interested in the same sorts of things (arts, music, etc) by pkcoolkid (Mon 27th Nov 2023 8:03am)
  • Tbh I think NYC and London are going through the same shit right now with out of control rent and neoliberal globalization flattening everything into dullness. There’s so much amazing arts and culture but you can only ever really view it, there’s no inhabiting it like you can in Glasgow where everyone is much more at human scale and open by pkcoolkid (Tue 28th Nov 2023 10:33pm)
