  • It's taken me a long time to find a work/life balance after racing towards burnout in my early 30s. Last year I took a lower paid job with a fraction of the stress and haven't looked back. No emails stacking up or phone ringing at all hours. Whilst earning less money might seem like a step backwards, having my weekends & evenings free without worrying about targets/bonuses has been huge. by pradabodybag (Sun 5th Jan 2020 8:43pm)
  • You can still see the decorative ironwork on most tenement blocks across the city which held the cables, the network was vast. by pradabodybag (Mon 6th Jan 2020 5:28pm)
  • See a lot of folk dumping their cars in St George's cross for free and walking into town, scummy move but it happens every morning by pradabodybag (Wed 8th Jan 2020 11:51am)
  • Also, don't feel down if you don't get the job, treat the interview as a valuable learning experience for the next. Even when you're waiting to hear back keep searching and applying for jobs. by pradabodybag (Thu 9th Jan 2020 10:34am)

  • The top floor of that high flat must be a very surreal living experience, no other tall buildings around for miles, planes buzzing past everyday. Some view I bet. by pradabodybag (Sun 19th Jan 2020 5:03pm)
  • Butchershop Bar & Grill is good, wouldn't say its particularly posh either. by pradabodybag (Mon 20th Jan 2020 9:34am)
  • Boulevard Self Drive are usually pretty well priced by pradabodybag (Tue 21st Jan 2020 11:08am)
  • Drumchapel shopping centre and the shite old buildings around Hecla Square are strongly rumoured to be getting demolished, hopefully the area will be getting some investment soon. Lots of junkies (west addictions centre and job centre are sometimes mobbed) but no one will bother you, generally a sound place to work. by pradabodybag (Mon 3rd Feb 2020 5:21am)
  • Sure someone said the ISS was visible the other day, maybe that again by pradabodybag (Mon 3rd Feb 2020 11:28pm)
  • Celtic play Motherwell tomorrow, O'Neill's in Merchant Square will likely show it and have a tamer crowd than most by pradabodybag (Tue 4th Feb 2020 8:35pm)
  • Milton is absolutely fine, similar to Clydebank/Drumchapel in parts. Sadly still suffering from a bad rep from the 70's 80's but some class house prices around and handy for the city centre & west end. (Glasgow Reddit is generally fearful of anything outside the west end & Dennistoun) by pradabodybag (Thu 6th Feb 2020 8:24pm)
  • You seem to have mixed the two up, have you actually been to either? by pradabodybag (Thu 6th Feb 2020 8:31pm)

  • There were multiple sex attacks around Hillhead just a few months ago by pradabodybag (Sun 9th Feb 2020 10:13am)
  • There no streets in the city that are safe as a solo female sadly. Without patronising you, you'll already know to stick to busy areas, keep a phone on you, and don't ever leave your drink unattended. It's a great city once you get to know it by pradabodybag (Sun 9th Feb 2020 10:21am)

  • The Forth & Clyde canal near the top of Queen Margaret Drive / Maryhill road is popular with runners. Snow and Ice weather warnings tomorrow right enough by pradabodybag (Wed 26th Feb 2020 9:07pm)
  • There's more marble in the City Chambers than the Vatican, fun fact by pradabodybag (Sat 29th Feb 2020 10:07am)
  • Townhead, Cowcaddens, St George's cross, Charing Cross, Anderston and Kinning Park were almost completely flattened a few years after this photo. More than a few city planners made money from the demolition contracts I'm sure. by pradabodybag (Sun 8th Mar 2020 6:56pm)
  • Perhaps a city bypass like most other UK cities would have been preferable to smashing through our unique built environment and multiple communities. by pradabodybag (Sun 8th Mar 2020 7:56pm)
  • The two lanes of M8:at Charing Cross are not exactly free flowing either with. Op was asking why did they have to put it though such a built up part of the city, a reasonable question given traffic wasn't a huge issue in the 60/70s and what the city lost in the process. by pradabodybag (Sun 8th Mar 2020 8:26pm)
  • Being able to get from one end of the city to the other in five minutes is great, but it definitely came at a cost to communities. We have one the busiest road bridges in Europe, and a concrete jungle beneath it, in the heart of the city. by pradabodybag (Sun 8th Mar 2020 9:01pm)
  • There was definitely at need for the motorway, but the route it took was a very unusual bit of city planning. by pradabodybag (Sun 8th Mar 2020 9:06pm)
  • Bigger petrol stations have had bog roll the past few days (shell on springburn road did today) by pradabodybag (Tue 17th Mar 2020 11:35am)
  • Shows how quickly bullshit rumours can spread. Heard the Army in Strathclyde park story from multiple work colleagues, friends and family the other day by pradabodybag (Sat 21st Mar 2020 1:07pm)
  • Sounds quite similar to witness accounts of the high possil meteorite. 'One observer noted seeing a red object and a trail of smoke in the sky, while a loud sound, similar to that of cannon firing, was heard across Glasgow and as far away as Falkirk' by pradabodybag (Sat 11th Apr 2020 10:34am)
  • Grew up there, great area though a pain in the arse to park. It's on a major orange walk route, you'll get woke up by fuds banging drums regularly during marching season (they gather at the Royal pub) Plus the odd gang of drunk mentalists walking from town to Maryhill / Possil in the wee hours at weekends. Otherwise sound by pradabodybag (Mon 13th Apr 2020 7:17pm)
  • You could slap Adidas stripes on a literal piece of shit and someone would buy it for their Dennistoun pad by pradabodybag (Sat 18th Apr 2020 7:16pm)

  • Congrats on the offers! Doubt there's much difference between the two colleges though City of Glasgow is very handy to get to. Plus way better job potential in town. Glasgow Cali is just up the road if you want to study beyond your HND too, by which point you'll know the area inside out. My college days (a million years ago) were five days a week though pretty early finishes. Lecturers don't really care if you turn up or not. Millions of pints and nights out in Strathy union were class. by pradabodybag (Wed 22nd Apr 2020 6:28pm)
  • Amazing view from the top by pradabodybag (Sat 2nd May 2020 5:55pm)
  • It's absolutely fine by pradabodybag (Sat 2nd May 2020 9:00pm)
  • It's changed a lot in the last 20 years, still tarnished with a reputation for being rough but not as bad as it used to be. Ruchill park is nice. Glasgow Tigers speedway is very popular. Milton Music Festival (yes it's real) is always a highlight in the calendar. The new development in Sighthill will hopefully improve the wider area of Springburn for the better. Possil needs a good tidy up but the influx of asylum seekers / immigrants is helping dilute the volume of cunts. Housing is very cheap, as are drugs. by pradabodybag (Sun 3rd May 2020 4:38pm)

  • Lockdown easing and a scorcher of a weekend was a perfect storm sadly. Been hearing sirens all weekend in the north of the city. by pradabodybag (Sat 30th May 2020 11:16pm)
  • A fine list and good idea, I'd take Brewdog off though by pradabodybag (Sun 31st May 2020 11:02am)
  • Perhaps on paper. With breweries and bars across the globe (they even sell cans on easyJet flights), and other rather shady business practices, they just leave a sour taste compared to the other genuinely local craft businesses on the list. by pradabodybag (Sun 31st May 2020 11:14am)

  • In work this morning discussing the black lives matter protest, I forgot how blatantly racist many over 50s are in this city. by pradabodybag (Mon 8th Jun 2020 8:36am)
  • It helps to get your lessons in the area you'll be doing your test, assuming you'll going to Anniesland driving Test Centre there are nice wide roads full of learners at Alderman road, Anniesland road and great Western road. Your instructor will pick the routes. The nerves will always be there till you get a few hours under your belt. Get in the habit of checking your mirrors all the time even if you don't think you need to, examiners love that shit. The nerves will always be there till you have many hours under your belt, even after I passed I had to force myself out to get rid of the butterflys. On nights when you can't drive, practice your parking on Grand Theft Auto or Euro Truck Simulator (seriously!) it helped me quite a bit. Don't worry about slowing people down behind you, we were all learner drivers at some point. by pradabodybag (Mon 8th Jun 2020 5:38pm)

  • Salvation Army and British Heart Foundation collected furniture pretty rapid before the lockdown. Furniture needs to comply with fire and furniture regulations and have labels attached or they won't take it. Otherwise Gumtree. by pradabodybag (Mon 15th Jun 2020 7:36pm)

  • The area around St Andrews in the Square has a nice mix of old Glasgow architecture plus the Green & the Barrowlands a few minutes walk away for photos. • Just your Donald Duck who you run into wherever you go. I got robbed at knifepoint in Kelvingrove park as a kid by pradabodybag (Fri 19th Jun 2020 1:09pm)
  • Quite happy to let them make tits of themselves every year tbh. I grew up on a major parade route and anger turned to pity as I got older. Old fat men dressed as soldiers, lodge and CoS numbers dwindling, watching their empire crumble around them, fuck em. by pradabodybag (Fri 19th Jun 2020 8:43pm)
  • The Aldi rip off version of tunnocks caramel wafers are class, highly recommended. They even copied the packaging. by pradabodybag (Fri 19th Jun 2020 9:09pm)
  • They were essential for Catholic children to get an education due to bigoted discrimination, a bigotry which still exists in modern Scotland. As for other faiths schools I say each to their own, my best mate in Catholic school was a Sikh. Even non denominational schools have a Church of Scotland presence. Bigotry is taught at home not at school. by pradabodybag (Fri 19th Jun 2020 11:25pm)
  • Beautiful day, might take my gran out for a nice relaxing picnic at George Square by pradabodybag (Sat 20th Jun 2020 8:55am)
  • I work there a lot and it's mostly elderly house-proud folk with the odd nutter with a garden full of car parts in between. Avoid the canal and high flats after 9pm. A solid 4/10 on the dodgy scale for me by pradabodybag (Sat 20th Jun 2020 12:28pm)
  • As with anywhere in Glasgow, stick to main roads and listen for the distant shrill of bams in the night. Late evening Partick is more dodgy I'd say. by pradabodybag (Sat 20th Jun 2020 1:39pm)
  • Definitely, I moved from a Partick tenement to a semi detached in the north of the city, secure gates and a cctv camera gives us plenty of piece of mind. I definitely don't miss the tenement life and having a wee garden is class in this weather. by pradabodybag (Sat 20th Jun 2020 2:14pm)

  • Five members of staff lost their jobs after Coia’s in Dennistoun took the decision not to continue furlough – saying the business would not require the same level of staff going forward. Cafe owner Alfredo Coia said at the time that all staff had been paid what they were due. However, the workers who were made redundant said Mr Coia had reneged on a promise to pay a week’s notice and enlisted the help of workers’ rights group Better Than Zero. The group said their former employer has now agreed to pay all five  notice payments of between £400 and £800. Jonathan Heggie of Better Than Zero said: “The staff had all been let go without notice and obviously they are entitled by law to a week’s notice. “It took well over a month. • If it ends this never fucking ending lockdown, am all for grassing on my stupid neighbours. by pradabodybag (Sun 3rd Jan 2021 1:35pm)

  • You think schools are the problem and should have been closed months ago, but we're also being para of the new strain? Which is it? You want to shut schools but let people have parties? by pradabodybag (Sun 3rd Jan 2021 3:13pm)
  • Grassing via 111 is fine but it's grassing via a special form that's upsetting you? They fought to keep schools open so parents could go to work and not sit on furlough. You'll recall shit really hitting the fan when schools closed at the beginning of last year and people had to leave work to collect them, shiting it if they be getting paid or not. Kids getting an education probably part of that necessary evil too. Agnes shouldn't be having her two pals round at all mate, she can zoom call like the rest of us. We'd have been out of this by now had we not ripped the piss. by pradabodybag (Sun 3rd Jan 2021 4:12pm)
  • >Grassing via 111 is fine but it's grassing via a special form that's upsetting you? >The creation and publicising of a special form is "upsetting" me for the reasons I've outlined a couple times, yes. Odd thing to be upset about don't you think? Schools and New Zealand and other tangents you're trying to take this off on aren't what the original post was about. What's your view on 5g masts? by pradabodybag (Sun 3rd Jan 2021 5:40pm)
  • I mean you're trying to shame people for reporting lockdown parties during a deadly pandemic whilst saying 'fuck that, what about the schools', and you want to talk about snidey behaviour? I'm not sure what I'm painting you as. I say this as I get ready for a shift in a covid infected ward where we're understaffed due to half our team having covid, having spent Christmas alone trying not to catch it, hoping the vaccine I had the other day actually works whilst ignoring the scare stories. Forgive me for having no time for people carrying on as if nothings happening. by pradabodybag (Sun 3rd Jan 2021 6:23pm)
  • 'Grass a neighbour for 2021. That'll fix it!' Very good mate. by pradabodybag (Sun 3rd Jan 2021 6:32pm)
  • No, having an issue with calling folk grasses and playing down visiting neighbours as nothing is not taking something the wrong way. by pradabodybag (Sun 3rd Jan 2021 6:41pm)
  • I appreciate you're backtracking. I tend to believe the opinions of health experts on these things bud, simply cracking on, partying and drinking tea with Agnes is not on at all during lockdown, the vaccine can't be rolled out if the health service is near collapse with cases afterall. I have no doubt you'll continue to do as you please however by pradabodybag (Sun 3rd Jan 2021 7:07pm)
  • Haha enjoy the lockdown update tomorrow mate you've provided quite the laugh today by pradabodybag (Sun 3rd Jan 2021 7:15pm)
  • Just to add, if you have a yellow grit bin on your street you can request for it be topped up when it's running low too. by pradabodybag (Tue 5th Jan 2021 12:30pm)
  • My granda used to stoat about in a pair of spiked golf shoes when the pavements iced up, he looked like a right fud but never fell as far as I'm aware. by pradabodybag (Wed 6th Jan 2021 2:09pm)

  • Many Glaswegians stereotype impoverished areas of the city in the same way tbh, I often get a surprised look when I tell people I live in the north of the city which suffers from an outdated reputation for drugs and gang violence. by pradabodybag (Sun 24th Jan 2021 3:54pm)

  • Should be in for next payday (6th for most NHS/GCC folk). Around £370 after Boris taxes it from what I hear :/ by pradabodybag (Mon 15th Mar 2021 8:17pm)
  • Well, when you where sitting in the house pulling your plunger some folk had to work through the pandemic, nice wee thank you for them is it not? by pradabodybag (Tue 16th Mar 2021 12:00pm)
  • This happened in Irvine, not Glasgow. The 'all taigs are targets' graffiti happened in Glasgow if you're picking and choosing what to be offended by. Numbskulls with cans of spray paint need to grow the fuck up either way. by pradabodybag (Wed 24th Mar 2021 5:05pm)

  • Depends how late, after 8/9pm I would stick to the main roads in all honesty, especially if you are female. There's been a fair amount of violent crime down there over the years (Google crime in this area). Its not particularly well lit and parts will be pitch black going into winter. by pradabodybag (Tue 12th Oct 2021 10:45pm)
  • There's a team of volunteers that litterpick and clean graffiti up there regularly, an uphill battle against wee dafties at times but the good far outweighs the bad. by pradabodybag (Mon 18th Oct 2021 10:45pm)
  • It's a police surveillance plane, been following Bidens convoy since he landed at Edinburgh this morning, now following them back along the M8 to his hotel. Cunts head will be spinning by pradabodybag (Mon 1st Nov 2021 8:27pm)
  • Bit scunnered seeing the dozens of private jets, huge convoys and massive amounts of manpower turning up for what seems to be an extravagant piss up. India, Russia, China aren't bothered, Bidens half asleep and Boris is a fuck nugget. All I know is I need to get to work in Partick tomorrow and navigate a way through the cunts. Maybe day 2 will be better.. by pradabodybag (Mon 1st Nov 2021 9:48pm)
  • Remembrance Day is a time to peacfully show respect to all those lost in conflict, reflect on the price of war and honour our wartime dead. This is a fake tank outside a rangers pub. For many it seems remembrance day in Glasgow is being turned into a yearly armed forces day spin-off for military cosplayers, where whoever waves the biggest poppy remembers the hardest. by pradabodybag (Sun 14th Nov 2021 2:50pm)
  • It wasn't a random decision to smash the M8 through the City Centre, the construction coincided with plans to demolish slums throughout the city in Townhead, Anderston, Cowcaddens and Kinning Park. (Destroying Charing Cross was criminal, sadly). The plans were first suggested in the 1945 Bruce Report, an investigation into ways to regenerate the city after the Second World War. The Bruce Report envisioned a whole system of motorways in the city centre, with buildings and housing divided up into new zones. The cunts originally wanted to demolish more, including Central Station, Kelvingrove Art Gallery, Glasgow School of Art, and the City Chambers. These plans were knocked back – but a scaled down version of the Bruce Report system did go ahead. Working class families were forced to leave, irreparable damage was caused to communities, and the cities population halved over the next couple of decades. We can now get across the city rapidly by car though.. I read more than a few bribes went to city councillors from demolition contractors at the time, but fucked if I can find the article. by pradabodybag (Fri 10th Dec 2021 10:10pm)
  • Very true. There were plans for 3 ring roads (shown on the link below), the 'city core' ring road was painfully close to a built heritage we didn't seem to appreciate at the time. https://www.glasgowmotorwayarchive.org/inner-ring-road?lightbox=dataItem-kb6fmkq3 Funny to think the Springburn expressway and sighthill interchange were inspired by the inner city highways of Los Angeles. by pradabodybag (Fri 10th Dec 2021 11:18pm)
