  • > Sounds like the vision and will is there, I disagree. I was shocked by how little substance there was in the SPT report. Beyond a new ticketing system, rebranding the buses, and some more cycle paths, there just wasnt anything there to be excited about. At no point did the report mention anything about committing to an extended metropolitan subway system for the Greater Glasgow area. If SPT wants the support of the public in Glasgow then the SPT needs to be more ambitious. by ringobiscuits (Tue 23rd Mar 2021 3:14pm)
  • > likely about the council being corrupt. My post wasnt intended to convey that. The colleague relayed that one of the local councillors for that area of Glasgow was allowed to buy the retail units (2 maybe?) on High Street for the bargain price of £1. This was done through an arms length company that is owned by the council (but is not the council). So this company with council connections was allowed access to what was public owned property & was allowed to purchase it with no legal oversight for £1. by ringobiscuits (Thu 29th Apr 2021 7:12pm)
  • > track down via companies house Thanks for that. Good research tool to have. by ringobiscuits (Thu 29th Apr 2021 7:17pm)

  • Glasgow can claim to have invented Chicken Chasni curry. Even to this day it is not possible to get a decent Chicken Chasni curry outside Glasgow's city boundaries. Also Glasgow can lay claim to creating the Chicken Tikka Masala in the late 1960's early 1970's (although Birmingham would dispute this) by ringobiscuits (Wed 26th May 2021 9:19am)
  • > More people wanting to move to houses. Its more complicated than that. : We have *White Flight* from London. (we have tory voters who made their money running away from the problems they created in London. so they are coming up to Glasgow and bringing their bad habits with them). they are pushing up prices. : We have Americans who have appeared out of nowhere buying flats in the West End & weirdly enough Govanhill. there is a clique of Americans who appeared around 2-3 years back. : BBC staff moving up to Glasgow are buying flats in Glasgow (Giffnock, Polokshields, Newton Mearns etc) : Civil Service/Spooks; Because of the lack of homes available in Edinburgh government staff are being shuttled up to Scotland (because of that stupid Queen Elizabeth House in Edinburgh & the one being built in Glasgow), and are buying up flats & houses in Glasgow over the market price. To make matters worse they are all the freakish boarding school-set from London so they are all in for shock up here. the spooks were going around areas in Giffnock putting leaflets through owners doors looking to buy their homes above market value all so their boss "Giffnock Face" Ken MCcallum could get one of those big posh houses just off of Fenwick road. Didnt happen though no one was interested in selling. Give it another 5 years and Glasgow will be as bad as London in terms of property prices. by ringobiscuits (Fri 4th Jun 2021 11:45am)
  • > to run business out of the high street There is a lot of dodgy stuff around Glasgow council handing out some of those retail units on High Street to their chums for a £1 rent. by ringobiscuits (Thu 17th Jun 2021 1:44pm)

  • Is it a council flat, or is it a flat you own? If it is a council flat you will need to put in a planning request & have a surveyor come out to show that it will not be a danger to the structure of the block or your neighbours. by ringobiscuits (Wed 11th Aug 2021 12:36pm)
  • there is a brainbox/whizzkid out there, who will develop a phone app, for some sort of weaponised chaperone. Anytime a woman comes into contact with one of these creeps she can use the said app to put out a call for some chaperones to make their way to her position. Both men & women would volunteer for the app. It wouldnt be paid. so it would be for the kudos. If no one was available on the app then the phone would direct the girl to the nearest police on the street, or the nearest bar with accredited doorstaff who would keep you safe until a taxi turned up. just an idea.... by ringobiscuits (Thu 12th Aug 2021 11:40am)
  • theres two missing from the list; Mercury FM which transmitted from around the Paisley area but got amazing coverage over Glasgow in the summer months. Seriously good shows on there. Station used to get its hands on lot of white label releases long before Radio 1. Secondly Sub City. *Technically* Sub City ended up being a Glasgow Uni fiefdom due to its funding. but its shows during the summer months when kids were off school were amazing. sort of like what BBC Radio 6 is now. But in 1990. In Glasgow. Aaah good times. by ringobiscuits (Wed 18th Aug 2021 12:58pm)
  • Just some points; 1: London White Flight: Lots of Londoners are leaving the city in droves to move to a less stressful city. A lot of the flats down in Dennistoun, Great Western Road, Govanhill, are all being bought up on the spot by Londoners whi sold their former council flat for insane money (£1.3 million anyone. Seriously) so they have excess money to play with that locals dont. 2: UK civil service staff and being shuttled up to Scotland to service the UK Government Hub in Edinburgh (& the forthcoming one in Glasgow/Also MI5 regional office in Glasgow too). they cant get any housing in Edinburgh due to that city's house market being nuts. so they are moving up to Glasgow. 3: International buyers, buying up flats without even viewing them. Why? Dont know. 4: STL's are *starting* to be an issue. Chinese & Americans are buying up flats with the purpose of renting them back out on STL platforms like Expedia & VRBO. during peak tourist season they rent out the flats for close £1000 a week. Do the math on that. Good luck with your house search. by ringobiscuits (Tue 24th Aug 2021 12:34pm)
  • (Zico's) Mehran 3 in 1 takeaway on Boydstone Road in Carnwadric does the best chicken Chasni in Glasgow. Period. Really good big portions and really good sauce. Their veg pakora is fucking amazing!! You can thank me later. by ringobiscuits (Thu 16th Sep 2021 11:22am)
  • >My landlord claims that there was contamination in the recyclable bins Who actually empties the recycling bins? The council or a private contractor? If its the council then the landlord is trying to scam you. Your council tax pays for the bin service. Also check your tenancy contract/agreement. Does it say that the landlord can actually charge you for this?! I would say the landlord is a chancer. by ringobiscuits (Fri 17th Sep 2021 9:40am)
  • > The council refused to empty the affected recycling bins. I would suggest you contact your local councillor and follow up on this. If you have correspondence from the council stating this show it to your councillor so that they have to follow up on this. Also ask your councillor to request an emergency uplift of the said bin in question. Its a health & safety issue. It needs emptied. by ringobiscuits (Sat 18th Sep 2021 11:44am)

  • > it’s progressively became more ghoulish over 10 years unless I’m just imagining it. there was always fightng in Glasgow city centre between gangs & jakeys. so nothing new there. However..... whats happened over the last 10 years a lot of young men of an international demographic have taken to chasing young women & teen girls around the city centre. It didnt help when you got pricks like Addy A Game going around the city centre with his baseball cap & smartphone harassing teen girls for sex. Once all those other gimps got wind of this then you had a whole set of them going into the city centre in the evening to loiter about outside the pubs & bars sniffing for victims. We need a team of aggressive WPC's from Police Scotland to go in suited up with the batons, to kick fuck out of them & shame them in public. A lot these men come from a patriarchal society, where women were submissive & kept hidden. A good beating off a couple of WPC with good baton training will rid the city centres of the majority of these gimps. Having your balls struck repeatedly with a polis baton will ruin any mans plans for the weekend. by ringobiscuits (Mon 4th Oct 2021 1:18pm)
  • > This is a great idea Where is the feasibility study for the extended metropolitan subway system for Glasgow?! Whats the point of a subway system that goes nowhere?! All i am seeing is paper shuffling & a poverty of ambition. by ringobiscuits (Tue 5th Oct 2021 8:51pm)
  • > line from the Airport to the City Centre via Braehead and Govan I welcome this. However its not enough. Also Scotrail have been told to increase their security inside the station and they haven't done fuck all. Also doesnt help that there is a methadone clinic right beside Central station in the form of the Boots the Chemist on site. that fucker needs relocated ASAP away from that area. by ringobiscuits (Thu 21st Oct 2021 7:36pm)

  • > the Nitshill If memory serves South Nitshill was literally bulldozed into the ground and all replaced with New Build flats. Glasgow Council washed its hands of that scheme and sold the land to developers. All the houses in that area (leading up to the road taking you up to Barrhead), are a million miles away from the sheer grimness of that area in the 1980's. Social cleansing seemed to be the "go-to" for the council to deal with a bad area. The houses in themselves werent bad, but the area must have declined so badly to the point the council just said "Bulldoze it". by ringobiscuits (Tue 7th Dec 2021 3:51pm)

  • > It’s only been the last 5 years he doesn’t sleep with a blade under his pillow, and still struggles with leaving the house due to the paranoia of someone jumping him or remembering him. It might be worth enquiring at your local GP if there is any sort of PTSD therapy group that your da could attend? • > His local GP are full of shit. I begged them for help for his mental health Try to get an alternate GP at the surgery, and speak to them about coming out to do a house visit. Sometimes different GP's have different attitudes. By doing a house visit they can see how your da is doing and see if he needs a different type of medication. The trick is to be nice to the receptionist. Keep in mind GP receptionists are overburdened with the COVID stooshie at the moment. So them hearing something that isnt related to COVID will work to your advantage. by ringobiscuits (Tue 7th Dec 2021 8:18pm)
  • We need an Extended Metropolitan Subway System for the Greater Glasgow area. Build a south line that would go through Shawlands & Giffnock (starting from St Enoch's). Build a North line that would go out to Bearsden. East-West line would start out towards Glasgow Fort, and go all the way through to the west around Clydebank, using Great Western road as a template. Make it happen SPT!! by ringobiscuits (Tue 14th Dec 2021 12:47pm)
  • > it's just that there have been lots of historical barriers. The only barrier has been the complacent & lazy SPT. The SPT is full of incompetents who have been holding back the city of Glasgow for decades. There is a lot of long term careerists at SPT who have done nothing for the last 20-30 years. There needs to be a clean out of the lot of them. by ringobiscuits (Tue 14th Dec 2021 12:53pm)
