  • The first week indoors was great. It was like a very long weekend. I slept late a lot. I had afternoon naps for the first time in months. I ate a lot, played games, watched lots of videos. The last 2 weeks have been much tougher. I'm a very reserved introvert and generally like being alone, but not going out has now been a huge strain. I only go out to buy groceries. I miss driving everyday, I miss going to the gym. I'm supposed to be self- studying but I've had no motivation or focus for a long time. All my family and friends live far away, so I make efforts to call one everyday. I'm always on social media talking to random people. When this is over and we can go out freely, I really want to travel out and see my loved ones again. I want to socialise better and meet more people. by spacyzuma (Fri 17th Apr 2020 1:12pm)

  • 1. You can easily get a cheap/free SIM card at the airport and it'll usually have some inbuilt credit. You can use that for a few days until you decide to get on a phone or aim plan. 2. I'm an introvert myself, and not social or outgoing, lol. So I'll other social local redditors give you advice for this. There have been lots of recent posts with great advice on where to socialise and meet new people. Welcome to Glasgow. It's a nice city with wonderful people. You'll love it. by spacyzuma (Wed 28th Jul 2021 8:04pm)

  • It's absolutely mental. I wanted to buy by Q2 but the market prices were so high, so I delayed. I'm still looking and not seen any decent house that I can afford with my budget. I may have to just settle for a flat 🥺 by spacyzuma (Fri 22nd Oct 2021 9:00pm)
  • Furthest I've done was from Cineworld Renfrew Street to Queens Park on Christmas Eve. About 40 mins walk in the cold 😩. As an immigrant, I didn't realise that most services operate half day on the 24th. After accepting there were no more buses, I spent an hour trying to trying to get taxis before braving the cold and light snow 😂 by spacyzuma (Thu 28th Oct 2021 1:05pm)

Most importantly for me, it has microsd slot. I have a 512MB card that contains my favourite songs, so I can leave my phone at home and focus on my workouts at the gym. by spacyzuma (Fri 5th Nov 2021 10:02am)

  • This happened to me some years ago. I was driving in the city centre for the first time, using a hire car. The car's Sat Nav sent me down Bath Street (behind Queens Street station) which had recently been converted to a bus lane. I was fined and I considered appealing, but other experienced drivers told me I had no case. Even if the satnav was wrong, there were clear road signs that I missed or ignored. So I paid the fine early to get the 50% 'discount' and learned my lesson. Like someone else said...this is part of what you'll learn when you start driving on your own after passing your test. Also, maybe avoid the city centre for a few weeks. Drive in the other areas of Glasgow and the countryside until you're more confident and used to quickly reading road signs. 👍🏾 by spacyzuma (Mon 15th Nov 2021 4:42pm)

  • I'm so frustrated right now. I finally got my offer on a house accepted. Quickly too, as I went over 10% the home report value. I have sufficient deposit and some extra for the fees and relocation costs. Only to shockingly discover yesterday that banks will only lend money based on the home report value, not on the accepted offer. I've been house hunting for months and have made several unsuccessful offers, and I can't believe I never knew this!! Now I have to find the excess (5 figure amount) or I'll lose this awesome house. • I joined an online fitness challenge mid 2020 during the first lockdown while unemployed. 3000 pushups for that month. I exceeded it, and then just kept on doing pushups everyday for almost 8 months. Each month, I'd add/try a new exercise: squats, planks, etc. Also downloaded some YouTube home workout videos and did them faithfully for several months. It produced visible results. I slowed down when I got a new job. by spacyzuma (Wed 22nd Dec 2021 8:24pm)

  • My first 2 jabs were Pfizer, but to my surprise today at the vaccination centre I was told they only issue Moderna booster. Is there a way to know which vaccination sites give the Pfizer booster? by spacyzuma (Wed 29th Dec 2021 2:39pm)
  • I was surprised and uneasy at that. I just assumed one's jabs would all be from the same manufacturer. by spacyzuma (Wed 29th Dec 2021 3:02pm)
  • My centre was at Carmichael Hall. Very swift service. No queues. by spacyzuma (Wed 29th Dec 2021 3:11pm)

  • Dating can be hard. Many people doing all the things you've mentioned did find partners. You are on the right track as you put yourself out there and trying different things. You just have to continue. Some people are lucky enough to find a good partner quickly. But when you do find him/her/they, the search and wait will be worth it. Can't wait to get excited at the features I didn't see on the Rightmove ad, cordially chat with the house owner(s), explain I'm a FTB and already have a mortgage and can do a quick sale, get home and email my solicitor to make a bid, discover a few days later that the property now has a closing date, and then get outbid by 5 figures. by spacyzuma (Sat 19th Feb 2022 9:10am)

  • If you can't find anyone to go with, you can just go alone. No one will bother you. And if you need help, just look out for a gym staff who will help you. That's what they're paid for. I was like you a few years ago. I had just signed up for the gym using company discount, but I was so nervous going alone. It was a 24/7 gym, so i chose my first time at an off-peak period, when I knew there would be less than 10 people there. I went in, and just walked around the entire gym for 5 minutes, checking out the equipment. That put me at ease My 2nd time, I just went in and picked a machine that looked easy enough and started using it. While observing how other people used the other machines. You got this 👍🏾 by spacyzuma (Sun 22nd May 2022 9:14am)

  • Yes, when I started searching I was aiming for 175-200k houses. After I lost my 1st accepted offer because I didn't fully understand his the mortgage process worked, I had to readjust my targets & house requirements. The important thing was to get on the property ladder asap. I settled for a smaller cheaper house as a starter. by spacyzuma (Wed 3rd Aug 2022 6:19pm)

You can still be his friend, Just be careful of triggering him with Nolan. I like Nolan movies too, and will be seeing Oppenheimer this weekend. But I'm not afraid to say Tenet was poor movie by spacyzuma (Fri 28th Jul 2023 10:22am)
  • I saw him yesterday, along Queen Street. Just past the Duke and his Horse. He offered me some token but I refused. I don't know much about monks and their religion but I know not to take free things from strangers who stop you in the middle of a brisk walk to catch your train. by spacyzuma (Fri 28th Jul 2023 3:50pm)
  • I'm a black African and I've lived in Glasgow for years. You'll fit right in. Glasgow's universities have lots of international students from all over the world and are very welcoming. The people are friendly and very accommodating too. I've lived in several cities in UK and I'm glad I got to settle in Glasgow. So much so that I even convinced a relative to come to Glasgow for her PG degree and she's now settled here too. by spacyzuma (Wed 9th Aug 2023 8:18pm)

  • I've had a small fever, poor appetite and felt down for the past week. Then yesterday, I read that a new strain of COVID is spreading. I wonder if that's it. by spacyzuma (Mon 28th Aug 2023 3:52pm)
  • Yes. There have been several rapes and stabbings in Glasgow green and some parks over the past few years by spacyzuma (Thu 31st Aug 2023 12:02am)
