  • So many people don't realise it's perfectly legal to cycle on Buchanan and Argyle street. I had a guy kick a fuss and put his hand in my face when I was cycling past M and S on Argyle. The cunt tried to convince me I was breaking th law. When he realised I was in the right he changed tack and tried to convince me I was going too fast. I was rolling as fast as he was walking... I hate people. by Impressive_Drink_100 (Thu 4th Aug 2022 11:25am)

  • I mean, we're assuming we know the Starbuck guy's intentions and that those intentions were creepy. Maybe the guy was just being friendly, maybe he fancied OP and thought of a way to break the ice, maybe he genuinely wanted to talk to her with the intention of building the courage to ask her out. I see absolutely no problem with these. This is something guys would have done pre-internet to actually talk with girls. Now it's labelled as "harrassment". I don't talk to girls much but can remember a time in the gym when I approached a girl to ask if she was using the squat rack in front of her. She looked at me as if I was creeping on her or something. I get that girls have to he wary of guys in some situations but... c'mon. by Impressive_Drink_100 (Wed 10th Aug 2022 11:24am)

  • If the government are serious about climate change then they should definitely make them legal here. Not just as rentals but they should make them insurance, taxable and MOTable so people can use them on the roads. I own one that goes up to 30mph and can keep up with traffic. It has a range of around 50 miles so is good for long distance commutes. So many people think they're dangerous and that a single pothole will end you but they really aren't. It's the same with any vehicle that they're as dangerous as the user. The only downside to having one is that they aren't 100% waterproof (regardless of advertisement claims) and really shouldn't be used in the rain. Nothing a little funding thrown at a green, clean and emission free method of transport wouldn't fix. So many car users are polluting our air just so that they can drive their solo self without any luggage a few miles here and there. I reckon e-scooters are a perfect replacement for these kind of trips. Fuck the haters. by Impressive_Drink_100 (Sun 14th Aug 2022 10:14am)
  • If your mate was hit by a car they could be dead right now. They are as dangerous as the user. Like any vehicle. E-bikes weigh more then e scooters. They're actually about to be made legal soon in the UK. They're going to have their own separate vehicle class from motors and cycles. They'll likely be allowed on roads and cycle paths soon. Is that so? From all the reviews I've read regarding fast e-scooters many owners have owned theirs for a year plus. Some have thousands of miles on their motors and they're still going strong. My e-bike goes around 25mph and the motor is perfectly fine after a year. "Nobody will repair them": Pure Electric and Skootz are two shops in Glasgow alone that offer services and repairs. I'm starting to think you've got no clue what you're talking about, lad. by Impressive_Drink_100 (Sun 14th Aug 2022 11:23am)
  • It's surprisingly really easy to add like 10mph to some centre hub e-bikes. There's a magnet attached to the rear wheel and a sensor that the magnet passes to determine the speed. All it took for mine was to move the sensor and the magnet so that the magnet is now attached to the pedal. This confuses the bike into thinking it's going slower than than it really is so it goes a little faster before the motor cuts out. All it took was 5 minutes, a screwdriver and some electrical tape. Been months now and the motor's fine. This is easily reversible. by Impressive_Drink_100 (Sun 14th Aug 2022 12:38pm)
  • Shorts, T-shirt and an umbrella, lad. by Impressive_Drink_100 (Mon 15th Aug 2022 10:59am)
  • "Tend to drive more responsibly after a test": I'm starting to think you don't use the roads often. It's hard enough to even cross the road in Glasgow without a cunt speeding towards you. I highly doubt they'll make it so you'd need a licence for e-scooters. Insurance maybe but this will likely be way cheaper than car insurance. They're going to have their own separate vehicle class so are not in the same category as cars. No comparison. "The police told me so": The police enforce the law they don't make the law. They won't know future laws before they've been formed. What motor are we talking about here? My e-bike or e-scooter? If the former: my motor (and battery) is fine, thank you for your concern. It's a 3k bike with a shimano steps motor and has been going strong for a year and a bit. It's outdated it's warranty. If the latter: this hasn't been de-restricted. It's been created for these speeds. Take your concerns up with the manufacturer who have nothing but excellent reviews for their products over the years. by Impressive_Drink_100 (Mon 15th Aug 2022 12:25pm)

  • When you're shopping for an alarmed disc lock make sure to read reviews beforehand. Some brands are likely to go off with strong enough winds. The only trouble I've had with thieves (when it comes to my motorbike at least) is having my reg plate nicked and, bizarrely, my cover nicked. Both on separate occasions. I set up a camera after these and months later caught footage of a guy at 4am riding up on his motorbike and peeking under my bike's cover. He was wearing a helmet with a similar design to mine which creeped me out. No crime was committed so the police didn't care. • You can reject definitions created by other people though. I don't like that people call me a fat 30 something year old because I feel like a skinny teenager. I want to be defined as a skinny 15 year old. I've decided to define how I feel about myself with the word ageless. Adding my prefix I'm ante-gender. Ante being the prefix coming from latin meaning 'before'. My gender means that I am to be recognised as a skinny man who never ages. I remain a 15 year old for the rest of my life. Who's to say age is this objective phenomenon. Many people say they feel younger or older than what they really are! Why shouldn't we be recognised for the age we feel? Like gender age CAN be subjective. Accept my definition or be classed a bigot. by Impressive_Drink_100 (Sun 20th Nov 2022 11:07am)
  • What if someone is neither cis or trans? By the by: I'm neither tall nor short. I'm average height. by Impressive_Drink_100 (Sun 20th Nov 2022 11:14am)

Typical of the failed argument. And what's science got to do with anything? by Impressive_Drink_100 (Sun 20th Nov 2022 11:30am)
  • You can be transgender without having any medical procedures done. It's all about how one feels in their own skin. What's medicine got to do with anything? Also, what does science/medicine say about queergender? by Impressive_Drink_100 (Sun 20th Nov 2022 11:36am)
  • I've proved to you that there exists at least three options and you're still holding on to your truth that there exists two. You're an idiot. by Impressive_Drink_100 (Sun 20th Nov 2022 11:41am)
  • Thank you for being understanding by Impressive_Drink_100 (Sun 20th Nov 2022 11:47am)
  • Because what you've said is irrelevant. It only matters in the case where two exists. But as of 2020 there are now three: cisgender, transgender and queergender. I might create my own tomorrow because I obviously don't feel like I fit into any of these three categories. by Impressive_Drink_100 (Sun 20th Nov 2022 11:44am)

  • Hence, you're trying to push your definition onto me. by Impressive_Drink_100 (Sun 20th Nov 2022 3:04pm)
  • You're pulling a suggestion out your arse that I'm frightened of the pronoun 'cis'. Why? I think we all know why. by Impressive_Drink_100 (Sun 20th Nov 2022 3:21pm)
  • I could ask you the same question about the biological definition for gender that was in place prior to the late 20th century. Why are you so afraid to be called a man or woman? By the by: gender was originally defined as sex/breed. It's only recently that some people decided to change this and it's grew into this majorly flawed system of infinitely many genders that are based on ones feelings. I'm afraid of living in a world where nothing makes sense anymore. What if age were to follow the same system? Age is but a natural number. Natural numbers are infinite. If age as a definition splits from objective fact and becomes subjective in the future then what's stopping people from claiming to be 1000 years old? Or 15 years old for all their life? by Impressive_Drink_100 (Sun 20th Nov 2022 4:44pm)

  • I definitely wouldn't use mine if if there's any ice. The cold is fine but for safety reasons ice is a no go. I also tend to avoid rainy days because the warranty for e-scooters never covers rain damage. I really only ever use mine on days where I'm fairly sure it's going to stay dry. So not very often this time of year. by Impressive_Drink_100 (Tue 22nd Nov 2022 7:57pm)

  • The West End was expensive even before the rising cost of living. You could maybe manage it if you flat shared. Depends on what hours you work for a hospitality gig. My personal biased recommendation would be to look into the Southside. Pollokshaws, Govanhill, Strathbungo, Battlefield or that. The rental market is more affordable and the areas are decent. by Impressive_Drink_100 (Wed 23rd Nov 2022 3:38pm)

The first option changes nothing the second at least has the chance to change your situation. It changed mine so there's a chance it could change others'. by Impressive_Drink_100 (Tue 29th Nov 2022 11:22am)

I like living here (hate the weather) but working in public has taught me that a lot of people in this city aren't afraid to be openly hateful towards certain groups they don't like for whatever reason. by Impressive_Drink_100 (Tue 29th Nov 2022 7:41pm)

  • I deliver there all the time. Been in and out over the last few years and it's always seemed quiet enough. Granted living there will probably tell a different story about the place. The place does seem pretty run down though. Everywhere you go there're holes in the walls and the carpets are manky and have what looks like motor oil stains on some parts. I last delivered there a couple of days ago and there was a fucking cable just hanging from a hole in the ceiling on the ground floor. I personally wouldn't consider buying a place there but would still live there by renting a place. It's close to the river and is a two minute walk over a bridge into the centre. My standards are pretty low when it comes to renting a place if it's cheap (as long as it's safe to actually live in, mind!). by Impressive_Drink_100 (Fri 9th Dec 2022 12:07pm)
  • Nothing to be ashamed about, pal. I don't think you can voluntarily admit yourself into places on the NHS. Though it's possible to be admitted into a ward without formally being sectioned if you're a danger to yourself. Talk to your GP. I really hope you find what you need. All the best. by Impressive_Drink_100 (Fri 9th Dec 2022 5:52pm)
  • Yeah, 8 quid. Pretty expensive for what you get to be honest. I was on for like 5 minutes before being kicked off. I spent the entire 5 minutes staring at a few rusty bolts above my head whilst over analysing every creak. Spent 8 quid to shit a brick! • We are officially spoilt brats ladies and gents. How will we ever survive without our annual holiday in the sun!? To be fair the majority of people spend wayyy too much on Christmas. Buying 5 year olds expensive phones, laptops, tablets, electric scooters etc. Then moaning about the cost of living essentials! They take expensive holidays every year because it's almost like a tradition. They have a mortgage on a semi-detached house and finance on a car (sometimes two: one for him one for her). Then they expect to be handed all of this on a plate just because they exist. If you don't earn enough to cover household bills then either cut back on non-essentials or earn more. What else can you do? by Impressive_Drink_100 (Sun 11th Dec 2022 11:30pm)
  • Of course. Inflation's a bitch. Still stands to reason though that 35k is still an income that a couple with a kid can live on and still have a little extra to put by. Doctors typically earn 47.5k in Scotland and teachers end up earning around 35k (I think). If shit's that bad that a person who earns 47k annually feels the need to strike then someone on my income who can't strike would likely starve due to the high cost of living. I haven't starved. I'm actually getting by alright because I live within my means. Probably makes it easier for me to never have earned as much as a teachers/doctors. When someone has such a standard of living to fall from that standard due to high inflation is probably harder the more one earns. Practice good birth control if you don't want to have a kid. If you plan to have one it's reasonable to have one if you can afford the costs of raising a child. Otherwise make sacrifices to meet those costs if need be. I can't speak for other professions but I swear that teachers have had a pay increase in the last (maybe) five or so years. Where does the 12 year austerity come into play? Yeah, capitalism sucks. The rich get richer and all that. What can you do? Did I say majority? Yeah, my bad there. Definitely not majority. Middle class and up for sure though. Take a browse on Facebook at Christmas and you'll see pictures with a ton of expensive shit that are the gifts for a single child. If someone is struggling with their rent, say, then why would they go abroad every year? There're cheaper alternatives for holidays. Or they could actually skip a year every now and then. Is this so drastic? I guess I'm just grateful for having the necessities in my life and not having to struggle to afford food and rent. If I were to earn 35k a year I'd be able to live very comfortably. Even if I had a child. But comfortable for me isn't the same as comfortable for others, I guess. by Impressive_Drink_100 (Sun 11th Dec 2022 11:57pm)
