  • Don't want to completely freak you out or anything, but are you on the top floor? I only ask because my friend who lives in an old tenement building, had an issue with a wasp nest in the roof of the building, and they managed to get in through her lights on the ceilings... by IrnBruDependant (Mon 28th Mar 2022 11:18pm)
  • No but I did get caught by one, getting on a bus the other day. Was waiting the bus stop for a while because... First bus suck. He stood chatting for ages, bus eventually shows and I'm thinking "great he'll go now". Nope, he gets on the bloody bus with me... by IrnBruDependant (Thu 14th Apr 2022 1:46pm)
  • Have you looked into getting the 4-week bus pass? It works out so much cheaper if you use the bus everyday. by IrnBruDependant (Tue 19th Apr 2022 12:25am)
  • Woman in Partick bus station came over to me while I was sitting down, which was weird cos I usually don't sit down late at night incase I need to move from people like this. Told me her boyfriend broke up with her and she was looking for money to get to a hostel, I had a quid in my pocket and told her that was all I had. Gave me this long story about how he had taken everything from her, including the dog, and kicked her out with the clothes on her back. At exactly the same moment, you literally couldn't have planned it, a bus pulls into the same bit I'm sitting at, and guess who gets off the bus? The boyfriend, and tagging along is their dog, a wee staffie. He sees her and is like "Aw Linda I've been looking fur you fur hoors did ye get any money?", sees me sitting down and then just stop dead in his tracks 😂 There's a moment where she doesn't say a word, then turns round and looks at me and shouts "Aye stick that pound up yer arse ya fat cow". I suppose to the queen of the junkies I might look fat, but I'm a size 8 so she can get fucked 😂 by IrnBruDependant (Wed 20th Apr 2022 12:36pm)
  • Have you ever been in one of those hostels? My brother ended up in one, he has no alcohol/drug issues, but the same can't be said for everyone in them. He ended up in a "nicer" one near Central station, and still had people kicking his door in at night, people trying to rob him, emptying the breakfast bars in the morning. I had to buy him a gym bag, to fill up with his valuables every morning so he wouldn't lose anything expensive. You have to sign in and out everyday, but the staff can only help out so much, and are powerless to stop people barging past them to steal stuff. by IrnBruDependant (Wed 20th Apr 2022 7:17pm)
  • Awesome thank you for this! I have a private drive so won’t need the permit but it’s good to know a guideline price 😊 by IrnBruDependant (Thu 21st Apr 2022 8:09pm)
  • Thank you I’ll give this a shot! Really hate the phone 😂 by IrnBruDependant (Thu 21st Apr 2022 8:08pm)
  • Did she say anything to them? People are so effing rude, I’d be so angry. by IrnBruDependant (Fri 22nd Apr 2022 2:59pm)
  • I’ll defo look into that, thanks! by IrnBruDependant (Fri 22nd Apr 2022 4:20pm)
  • I absolutely love that everyone knew instantly who it was. I met him once in McDonalds, some ned behind him was trying to take the piss out of him and I thought the entire restaurant was going to rise up and batter him, he left pretty quickly when people started shouting at him and his pals. Long live Leo. by IrnBruDependant (Sat 23rd Apr 2022 7:23pm)
  • Little late to the party but I agree with the comments left above. I'm sympathetic to a point, I can see how addiction can ruin lives and how easy it could happen to any of us. BUT, I like to think I wouldn't sink so low that I ruin other peoples lives while I was at it. When I was 14, I was walking through Drumchapel (my home town might I add, place I've lived my whole life) and a junkie pulled a knife out on me at the back stairs on Belsyde Avenue. Robbed me of my cheap £30 phone, a fiver I had on me and my bag that my late gran bought for me. I've had friends too scared to leave their house because they have groups of them sitting outside their close waiting on the first flat to rob, people scared to let their kids play in the park because they leave dirty needles lying everywhere. So while I agree that more needs to be done to help them, I refuse to allow it to be at my or my families expense. by IrnBruDependant (Tue 3rd May 2022 2:09pm)
  • I'm having the worst time getting my sisters application approved. She's lived me with for 10 years, since she was 5 so 15 now. Young Scot won't accept the application without a parent or legal guardian signing it, but technically we have no parents and there was never a court document saying I had legal custody, she just never left and no one ever checked to see how she was. We're having to wait until she's 16 in January, so she can apply for it in her own name, but it's so annoying that until then, I have to pay for it. by IrnBruDependant (Tue 3rd May 2022 2:22pm)
  • I don't know all the issues with DD club - but I done dance as a HND at college years ago, and one of the girls in my class went to audition there after it. She was looking to make some money for a couple of years so she could move to London. Audition was horrible, her and 4 other girls lined up in the club. Guy who ran the audition would come over and touch them, saying things like "you can only get up there if you get a boob lift" and told my pal (who is 5 ft 2 btw) "you're a smaller girl so some guys might want you to pretend you're a lot younger, that's okay with you, right?". Just generally sleazy vibes from that club. by IrnBruDependant (Tue 3rd May 2022 2:29pm)
  • I think more than usual 🤣 My difference between them and Platinum Lace who she eventually worked for, was crazy. Treated it as a proper audition, offered her snacks and coffee when she went in, proper interview and then a changing room before she danced. DD just had them sit there and say "ok, clothes off, dance time" 🤣 by IrnBruDependant (Tue 3rd May 2022 3:11pm)
  • I've never been but always see them post their work on facebook - The Studio, Oswald Street. They have really high quality work in there, I think it would be pricey but you know the saying? - "Good tattoos aren't cheap, and cheap tattoos aren't good". by IrnBruDependant (Tue 3rd May 2022 3:52pm)
  • From what I hear, Platinum Lace or Seventh Heaven are your best options, good luck! Also agree with the advice above about TikTok, I normally hate the app but if you can get first und experiences on there then it’s a good idea! by IrnBruDependant (Tue 3rd May 2022 4:16pm)
  • Cancer Research on Queen Street always has amazing stuff! by IrnBruDependant (Wed 4th May 2022 12:14pm)
  • Have you tried the Olio app? If you book it the day before, you can get good lunch deals on there - it's mostly restaurants using the last of their stock but you can sometimes get Bar Burrito or Greggs, they stick loads in the bag for £3/4. by IrnBruDependant (Fri 6th May 2022 2:58pm)
  • Bibimbap in Partick is a good place for a Korean fried chicken! They don’t do Korean barbecue but the good is really good. Word or warning though, soju is ridiculously easy to go through, pace yourself and try the grapefruit one 😂 by IrnBruDependant (Sat 7th May 2022 5:52pm)
  • Does it have to be Glasgow? Would you be willing to travel a little for a day trip? Millport is my favourite place to visit, especially in the summer months. But if you do want to stay in the city - Silent Discos, Supercube where you can rent out a room and do karaoke with a group, honestly though u/fyoubas has nailed it with their list! by IrnBruDependant (Sat 7th May 2022 10:11pm)
  • Flew Glasgow to Berlin last week, flight left at 11am and I arrived at the airport 8.30am, took my 20 minutes to get through security... Was convinced I'd need the extra time but I ended up past security and had two hours to waste before flight. if your flight is lunch time or later, I'd definitely leave some extra time but it's nowhere as near chaotic as English airports. by IrnBruDependant (Tue 10th May 2022 11:38am)
  • Happy cake day! by IrnBruDependant (Wed 11th May 2022 3:02pm)
  • Holy crap, I'm glad you're safe and okay now but that's so creepy. What an absolute areshole of a man. by IrnBruDependant (Wed 18th May 2022 12:42am)
  • I buy mine in bulk from Amazon (no one hate me, I know we should support the little guy but money is tight). Works out 45p this way, but if you do the subscribe and save offer it works out around 40p. • I honestly swear by this! I cook then strain the noodles, add a small amount of milk, add the seasoning and add the cheese to melt over the top. Lif changing. by IrnBruDependant (Fri 20th May 2022 11:27pm)
  • Not got any advice for you, so sorry. I just wanna say I'm really proud of you, 1 week is tough and seems like a lifetime after 15 years of using, but you're almost there and you got this. Please message me on here if you need someone to talk and distract you from the tough times. by IrnBruDependant (Sun 22nd May 2022 6:35pm)
  • The fuck? What’s wrong with offering a little encouragement? Fuck off if you don’t like it. by IrnBruDependant (Mon 23rd May 2022 11:10am)
  • Sectarianism. I grew up in a mixed house I guess? Mum was Catholic, dad is Protestant. They were together 30 years, never an issue. Not one argument about religion, football teams and my dad even avoided family who attended the orange walks. I see how they two made it work for so long, why can’t everyone else? Does it really affect your life if someone is a different religion/ supports a different team? Personally, I’m a Celtic supporter, but don’t give two shits what my friends support. Sorry for the rant, it just annoys me so much. by IrnBruDependant (Sat 28th May 2022 9:25pm)
  • What time are you heading out? You can't really go wrong with Sauchiehall street. Pre drinks at Spoons if you get there before 9, after 9 the best place to start is Driftwood. Personal favourite is Firewater, good mix of all kinds of music. Should head over there for around 11, that's when it hits its peak and they shut at 3, so you can get a good few hours there. Cathouse isn't as emo as you think, it's a great night out. Nae bashing the emos, please we are decent. If you do decide to go, stick to level 1 - metal and classic rock. Level 2 you will hate, mostly screamo and post punk. by IrnBruDependant (Sun 29th May 2022 9:32pm)
  • Definitely recommend trying it at least once! by IrnBruDependant (Sun 29th May 2022 10:48pm)
  • I actually do remember this! Two girls in my primary school class bought me a voucher for my birthday, we live on the other side of the city and had never been to Braehead before. I'm sure it was right at the front, where poundland now is. Edit, just read some of the comments and it might have been the card factory location. I just remember it being the first shop at the entrance and I was only 8 at the time so I could be confused! by IrnBruDependant (Tue 31st May 2022 8:31pm)
  • I enjoy rainy days, but days like today are awful. Sun was out at 8am today, so I put washing out. 9am, sky goes grey so I bring it in just incase, rain shower like crazy. 11am, looks brighter, do I dare to put it back out? I do it because I can't be bothered using the tumble dryer. 12pm, it's back on. MaKe Up YoUr MiNd... by IrnBruDependant (Sun 12th Jun 2022 8:00pm)
  • A lot of places charge a minimum price for a tattoo. I heard it’s usually £50, even if you just got a tiny smiley face done, they charge the minimum amount because it’s still their time. Best thing I could recommend is to look on their Facebook/Instagram pages, I got a single word tattooed on me in a shop in Partick that’s now shut down, it ended up blowing out and I had to get it covered. Tell them you want a fine line so that if it does blow out it will still be legible. Personal favourite of mine though, Hardlines. Right on great western road, right before you hit cowcaddens subway. by IrnBruDependant (Wed 15th Jun 2022 3:13pm)
  • Oops I’m getting my stations mixed up here, you’re absolutely right! I’m a bus person these days… by IrnBruDependant (Wed 15th Jun 2022 4:19pm)
  • I really don’t want her staying at mine, I have family who are highly at risk and would hate to infect them. Just going to tell her not to come or find somewhere else to stay. by IrnBruDependant (Fri 24th Jun 2022 2:14pm)
  • I’ll be honest, it’s been a long time since we last met and I’m starting to remember why. Just text her telling her she can’t stay here after it, and dont think she should come to Glasgow. by IrnBruDependant (Fri 24th Jun 2022 2:16pm)
  • So there’s absolutely no legal restrictions anymore? That’s what I really needed to know, technically she can come to Glasgow but it’s so annoying because she’s going to get people sick. by IrnBruDependant (Fri 24th Jun 2022 2:15pm)
  • No not Biffy, you’re safe! It’s Bimini at SWG3 (hope that’s the right way to write that, I’ve never been) by IrnBruDependant (Fri 24th Jun 2022 2:27pm)
  • Thanks Rambo, you’ve got me all figured out from a Reddit post. Maybe calm your tits. Someone of us still take it seriously because we have family who could seriously be affected from it. I take caution and attend events based on my life and how it can affect other because I’m not a selfish prick, but tell me more about it… by IrnBruDependant (Fri 24th Jun 2022 8:54pm)
  • Your name is perfectly suited btw. Also not a karma farmer or a twat, just a self aware person who doesn't feel the need to infect vulnerable people with a highly contagious virus. You do you though. by IrnBruDependant (Sat 25th Jun 2022 1:56am)
  • Literally no one on here told me that? I asked a question that you were perfectly free to skip past and ignore, but you got your two cents in so congratulations. by IrnBruDependant (Sat 25th Jun 2022 3:16am)
  • Someone questioned earlier why I was testing and it was because I had a bad cold last week too, I was paranoid it would end up being covid. But I still wore a mask for the same reason you did! I have brittle asthma so I’ve told her not to come here, she hasn’t replied but I know she read it… by IrnBruDependant (Sat 25th Jun 2022 3:24am)
  • Yikes. by IrnBruDependant (Sat 25th Jun 2022 2:18pm)
  • Or maybe I witnessed people dying from it? I’m actually quite healthy and active despite having brittle asthma. If I get covid it’s either going to knock me for a few days, or seriously make me ill because I have an underlying health condition. Maybe I don’t want to infect vulnerable people? It’s a selfish mentality to think “I’ll be fine and fuck the rest of yeez”. by IrnBruDependant (Sat 25th Jun 2022 4:53pm)
  • She’s no longer going tonight. She’s pretty pissed off with me and has text my entire friend group bitching about me not letting her stay… She didn’t even reply to me though. by IrnBruDependant (Sat 25th Jun 2022 4:56pm)
  • Charity shops on Byres road usually have some, I got a Rod Stewart one two weeks ago (nae judgement please it was for a friend) by IrnBruDependant (Sun 26th Jun 2022 3:36pm)
  • Holy crap, don't want to sound super creepy but I live near this area. That guy with the lorry does my head in. Came out my house one morning at 5am to leave for work, he's parked right across my fucking drive. Had to get a bus that morning because I was running late, got back around 2pm and he was JUST moving away, absolute c\*nt. by IrnBruDependant (Wed 29th Jun 2022 6:36pm)
  • I've honestly never seen them in this area. No regard for other people, he makes the street an absolute nightmare to manoeuvre around. by IrnBruDependant (Wed 29th Jun 2022 7:05pm)
  • Okay it’s a free award but I cackled out loud at the bus stop so you win for today. by IrnBruDependant (Sat 2nd Jul 2022 5:20pm)
  • The weekend was absolute chaos. Faaaar too many people in the standing section. Groups of girls who were standing in front of me, easily 16/17, absolutely pished. Thought it would be funny to “pretend” to fall backwards into my group and send us flying backwards. Ended up getting into an argument with them and security done fuck all. I was getting ID’d even though I’m 29, but the very clearly 16 year olds can get served no problem? The group of boys running around head butting people, wtf is wrong with you all??? The guys who kept turning round shouting “embdy got a fucking problem” while swinging his knife, get fucked. On my way there, bumped into a group who were heading to the orange walk (this annoys me for reasons I’ve spoke about before on this sub), got the usual “whit team dae you support?” “Celtic” “aw there’s a fucking catholic on the bus” “not even catholic” “then sing the songs with us”. How about leave me the fuck alone? Can’t even ride a bus without bumping into an absolute arsehole. Hate, hate, hate living here. People don’t make Glasgow. They make it fucking unbearable. The minute you go against the popular crowd, that’s your day made awful. Anyway sorry for my rant but this weekend was awful. by IrnBruDependant (Mon 4th Jul 2022 6:15pm)
  • Because of financial and family situations, I’m really in no position to leave but I would go north if I could. I’ve lived here my whole life, I grew up in Drumchapel of all places. But it’s too much now, sick of it. by IrnBruDependant (Tue 5th Jul 2022 1:55am)
  • I wouldn't blame you if you did get out, I know I would. I'd love to head to Germany but thanks to Brexit it's UK only for now, so heading north would be my only option. Don't know if you've walked under the bridge at central recently, but it truly one of the worst parts and a great (although awful) example of everything you mentioned. by IrnBruDependant (Tue 5th Jul 2022 9:36pm)
  • Might take the bike on the train with me, good shout thanks! by IrnBruDependant (Thu 7th Jul 2022 11:24pm)
  • Thanks for this! by IrnBruDependant (Thu 7th Jul 2022 11:22pm)
  • Thank you! Going to try a new place at least once a week, it's now on my list :) by IrnBruDependant (Thu 7th Jul 2022 11:22pm)
  • Just so much crap going on, needing some breathing space away from everyone haha by IrnBruDependant (Thu 7th Jul 2022 11:27pm)
  • Might try Ayr first but Dunoon is a definite, thank you! by IrnBruDependant (Thu 7th Jul 2022 11:27pm)
  • Absolutely the kind of trip I'm looking for, thank you for this! by IrnBruDependant (Thu 7th Jul 2022 11:26pm)
  • Haven't been on this in absolute years, will check it out thank you! by IrnBruDependant (Thu 7th Jul 2022 11:25pm)
  • Thanks will check this out! by IrnBruDependant (Thu 7th Jul 2022 11:25pm)
  • That's perfect thank you for this! Would get me away for a good few hours, just what I need :) by IrnBruDependant (Thu 7th Jul 2022 11:25pm)
  • This is actually the sort of thing I was looking for thank you so much for this! by IrnBruDependant (Thu 7th Jul 2022 11:34pm)
  • Love that thank you! by IrnBruDependant (Thu 7th Jul 2022 11:32pm)
  • Never been to Pitlochry or Dunkeld but needing something different so will look into it, thank you! by IrnBruDependant (Thu 7th Jul 2022 11:32pm)
  • Thank you!! Can't go wrong with a chippy by IrnBruDependant (Thu 7th Jul 2022 11:31pm)
  • Thank you! Didn't consider Dundee tbh, I usually think of it being hard to get to but it's a lot easier than I realised. by IrnBruDependant (Thu 7th Jul 2022 11:36pm)
  • Definitley on my list now thank you! Got a book ready and headphones so I'll be doing this soon! by IrnBruDependant (Thu 7th Jul 2022 11:35pm)
  • Unfortunately that’s where I live but it’s always an adventure hitting Southdeen by IrnBruDependant (Sat 9th Jul 2022 12:37am)
  • Well first of all, welcome to Glasgow! And second of all, there’s just a much better vibe here in Glasgow than there is in Edinburgh. Tried to make small talk with someone at a train station and she asked me if I had a carer… so never again. by IrnBruDependant (Sat 9th Jul 2022 6:14pm)
  • I had just managed to escape, maybe she knew. It’s a conspiracy I tell ye. by IrnBruDependant (Sat 9th Jul 2022 6:58pm)
  • Sounds like something you’d say if you were from Edinburgh. by IrnBruDependant (Sat 9th Jul 2022 11:21pm)
  • What time were they onstage? I hate being rude about this kind of thing, but queues are expected, they do warn you to get there early. I worked at the bar a few years back, people were queuing up from 10am. I'm not saying she should be in the queue for 10am, but it's an all day thing - I'd at least try to get my money's worth for the whole day. by IrnBruDependant (Mon 11th Jul 2022 9:25pm)
  • My old manager was English and tried to do this, we were like it’s fine hen, good old Scottish water 😂 by IrnBruDependant (Tue 12th Jul 2022 11:33pm)
  • Can I ask what area you're moving to? Might be able to help with some recommendations for shops or places to eat, also are you a student? by IrnBruDependant (Wed 13th Jul 2022 1:32pm)
  • Took me just over an hour, two weeks ago. My flight was at lunch time, checked in luggage though so that pushed my time up. Personally think you're giving it plenty of time but don't be surprised if you fly through security in ten minutes and find yourself sitting around for a while, good excuse to get a drink though! by IrnBruDependant (Wed 13th Jul 2022 1:31pm)
  • Okay well welcome to Glasgow (or in September lol). Keep in mind that rent gets higher the closer to the city centre, so if you live just outside the city, even half an hour commute it can take your rent down £200. Don't know if you're interested in the buses, but First Bus have the most regular services, a monthly bus pass is £54 I think, cheaper if you're a student (around £47, use the app, don't buy from a shop they add a fee). Tell GF to keep an eye out for student deal, lots of shops in the city centre will offer discounts for students. The best pubs and clubs for people new to the area are all at the top end of Sauchiehall street - pro tip, Taco Bell shuts at 4am so leave a club at 3 and head for some food before going home... Make friends with your neighbours, even if it's a flat try and be nice to the ones on the same floor. They'll take parcels in for you saving trips to the post office depot and keep an eye on your place. Paisley and Clydebank are good areas too! Good links into Glasgow from there, lots of hidden places in Paisley to check out. by IrnBruDependant (Wed 13th Jul 2022 7:06pm)
  • This is one of my big fears about losing the NHS, we really take it for granted here. I worked out the cost of my asthma medication once (three inhalers and steroids for a month), worked out to be around $600, and that’s with insurance. I could never afford that. I live a comfortable life right now, I’m not rich by any means but I can afford rent and a few extras so I’m happy. Glad you feel welcomed here, you’re “one of us” now 😂 by IrnBruDependant (Tue 19th Jul 2022 11:38am)
  • They make a wage, which I guess is true but I still give the drivers a couple of pounds just to make it up. Idk, I’ve just always done it but she says she’s never done it. by IrnBruDependant (Tue 19th Jul 2022 7:19pm)
  • Same here, seems to be more common than I realised. No judgement, was just curious how many tip. by IrnBruDependant (Tue 19th Jul 2022 7:21pm)
  • I usually leave a tip in restaurants, but it’s depending on the service. I’ve only ever once not tipper a waiter and that was because we waited over two hours to get food because he forgot about us and was rude when I complained… by IrnBruDependant (Tue 19th Jul 2022 7:20pm)
  • The only place is tip £3 is Bombay Grill in Clydebank. Always get my food within the hour and the food is amazing. by IrnBruDependant (Tue 19th Jul 2022 9:43pm)
  • Actually I’m the same. The way a person treats waitstaff says a lot about them. Also the ones who leave a messy table in McDonald’s because “it’s their job to clear it”. by IrnBruDependant (Tue 19th Jul 2022 9:47pm)
  • It seems to be quite common to not tip so honestly I wouldn’t worry about it! by IrnBruDependant (Tue 19th Jul 2022 10:25pm)
  • I actually do tip my tattoo artist and I buy my Asda delivery guy a Christmas present 😂 That’s a lot of words to just say “I don’t tip”, was looking for a straight answer not a socioeconomic layout of the UK’s tipping culture. Not “cracked” because I chose to give a delivery driver an extra couple of quid. Also wasn’t snide to anyone? If you mean my friend, we spoke about it for five minutes and moved on with our lives. I only asked on here because I was curious about it, didn’t know if this was a common thing or not. by IrnBruDependant (Wed 20th Jul 2022 1:53am)
  • It does come across that way, I’ll be honest, sounded very aimed at me but it’s not a big deal. I get your point though. by IrnBruDependant (Wed 20th Jul 2022 2:00am)
  • I clearly used the £ symbol, you think we’re Americans? Could be worse I suppose, my entire personality could be playing Warhammer… by IrnBruDependant (Wed 20th Jul 2022 8:29am)
  • Yeah I’m upset 😂 the pound sign was right there, but you’re so against the yanks you didn’t even notice you’re on a Glasgow sub ya walloper. by IrnBruDependant (Wed 20th Jul 2022 8:44am)
  • I always give a better tip at Christmas, and I think the drivers know this because I never wait more than half an hour for my order 😂 we get Chinese on Christmas Eve and always give the driver a tenner and bottle of wine. by IrnBruDependant (Wed 20th Jul 2022 4:35pm)
  • I used to use that running track, and got some hassle from kids during the day but it sounds so much worse now. Even if someone on here knew their kid was hanging around the park and causing so much hassle, I doubt they'd do anything. Kids who behave like that get away with it at home and learn from example. As much as I hope it gets better for you, you might need to just keep calling the police out. by IrnBruDependant (Thu 21st Jul 2022 5:50pm)
  • Do they offer takeout? Wanting to head over this week but I have a real anxiety about sitting in restaurants myself, would rather get takeout and sit in a park for an hour. by IrnBruDependant (Mon 25th Jul 2022 1:07pm)

  • I'm really surprised your instructor just ignored the whole thing, even if he didn't want confrontation the right thing to do would have been to get his regi plate and report it. • Ooft I’m gonna downvoted to hell for this, I can feel it… Rangers fans are more extreme than Celtic fans. Hear me out first 😂 I am a Celtic fan, BUT in my entire friend group, I’m the only one. There have been times where we go out for drinks and we’ve been in a rangers pub, an actual supporters bar. That doesn’t bother me at all, I just want a night out. But the minute I suggest a bar that’s even remotely an Irish or Celtic leaning place, you’d think I’d just set their fucking dog on fire. I can’t wear a top when I go for my runs because god forbid someone sees it and they’ll shout at me, but the rangers ones are generally accepted. Plus 90% of the time when a Rangers fan hears that I’m a Celtic fan they say “aw ur you a catholic? 😳” Naw I’m fucking no but even if I was, what’s your fucking point? Does it really affect your life that much? I can appreciate a good game of football, rangers are doing well right now and I can admit that, but ask any rangers fan to give their favourite Celtic player and watch them breakdown. by IrnBruDependant (Wed 17th Aug 2022 5:24pm)
  • It took me all of two seconds to click onto your account and figure out why this upset you so much. Gun to your head, you wouldn’t be able to pick a single Celtic player you could at least recognise as a good player? Why would that make me for a watching? Because I would be able to put a prejudice aside and recognise a talented player? You really gave yourself away with that one. by IrnBruDependant (Wed 17th Aug 2022 8:28pm)
  • You’re incredibly defensive about this one 😂 If your mates asked you to go to the Hoops Bar for a couple of drinks, would you do it? by IrnBruDependant (Wed 17th Aug 2022 8:34pm)
  • It’s an entire lifestyle for a lot of them, their entire personality is a football tattoo and screaming at people in the street (both sides). by IrnBruDependant (Wed 17th Aug 2022 8:32pm)
  • Takes a lot to admit it, and I’m willing to bet your downvotes are from those extreme ones. It’s a hill I’ll die on though. Celtic fans are far from perfect, there’s a lot of shite behaviour and a lot of it is racist which is awful. by IrnBruDependant (Wed 17th Aug 2022 8:30pm)

  • I won’t bother going into a long winded rant about this, I’ve gave my reasons for hating the orange order before and a couple of days ago, I shared an opinion that has since gotten me five messages with death threats and tell me they’re going to wipe out “catholic scum” like me. We’re past complaining now mate, it’s so ingrained in our culture that there’s no point trying to change it. They’re still screaming about defeating a catholic from the 17th century in the year 2022 who was neither Irish or Scottish, and yet the rest of us are the problem ✨🙃 by IrnBruDependant (Sat 20th Aug 2022 12:43pm)
  • Have you tried Paisley? Paisley itself is nowhere near the student standard of Glasgow, very quiet and hardly any student activities (no one scream UWS at me, I went to uni there and stand by what I said). That being said, rent in Paisley is cheap, and the train and bus links into Glasgow are decent. Worst case scenario though, private student accommodation? Will be the most expensive option though so try other places first. Try on UWS Facebook groups and see if anyone is even looking for a flat mate in Paisley, at least you'd be near the train station. by IrnBruDependant (Tue 23rd Aug 2022 6:03pm)
  • Happy to have you in our wee city! What are are you moving to (or planning on moving to)? Summer is over for us, the advice before me is right, you need warm clothes. Would love to give you more specific advice though. Do you like gyms? Cinemas? Shopping trips or hiking? What do you and your wife do when you have free time? by IrnBruDependant (Thu 25th Aug 2022 10:36pm)
  • Do you mean changing rooms? Or shops that profit a trans charity? If it's changing rooms, most stores usually have just the one cubicle, too many shoplifters to start having seperate changing rooms. If you mean clothes or the items they that they sell that would profit a trans charity, I can't think of any I've ever come across. Might be best to reach out to some organisations or charities across the city and ask if they have any, or even to ask if they know of any businesses that donate? by IrnBruDependant (Fri 26th Aug 2022 4:08pm)

  • I went to Knightswood too, left in 2010. Not got a decent word to say about it but that could just be my experience. Guidance teacher told me to just a get a job and don't have high expectations for college or uni. The one before her told me that I should take admin over computing because "girls like you don't need to know that stuff, just learn to type, you're not smart enough for it". Was constantly hassled by Mr. Burns and Campbell (pricks the pair of them). Lost a family member when I was in 4th year and I was allowed to slip from being top of a class to underachieving. One thing I will say for sure though, kids in the middle are left. If you get top marks, there's help available for you - I know for a fact the advanced higher kids get extra lessons after school and study plans made for them. If you are at the bottom and expect to fail everything, they jump through hoops to get you a place in a college or on some sort of apprenticeship/program. The rest of us are waved on through with no help and tossed a yearbook at the end of prom with a pat on the back for participating in 6 years of shite. Sorry for the rant, didn't realise how much I was holding on to 😂) by IrnBruDependant (Wed 31st Aug 2022 7:40pm)

  • Glasgow uni offer them, but it's pretty expensive - £260, one day a week from October until March - [here's the link.](https://www.gla.ac.uk/study/short/courses/gaelic-beginners-a1--on-campus-options-available-/) Keep and eye out for [4water](http://4water.org/glasgow/language/) announcing their classes, but it's not guaranteed. Classes are much cheaper because it's run by students but they are native speakers of the language. I done Korean and German with them, recommend it. Failing that, if you have the time, why don't you try for a part time fee grant and study at a university part time? UHI offer a degree in Gaelic, and I think the OpenUni offer a Gaelic course but not sure if it's language or culture based. by IrnBruDependant (Wed 31st Aug 2022 8:01pm)

  • Just to be super clear, you're enjoying the smell of urine? That being said, I asked my workmate who is a "plant lady". She said basil plants sometimes give off a similar smell, so maybe someone has wild basil in their garden? She also said that sometimes people go to the extreme with lime trees, and dilute their urine to use as a fertiliser... Do what you will with that information, it truly scarred me. by IrnBruDependant (Sat 17th Sep 2022 10:34pm)
  • This was really difficult to read, I'm sorry you've had to resort to leaving. Drumchapel gets a bad rep, but I live here and wouldn't move. There's a lot of good people here and pretty soon you'll feel at home. Wishing you all the best. by IrnBruDependant (Sun 18th Sep 2022 8:31pm)
  • Please, please, please don't volunteer for Cancer Research. There's a lot expected from you for a position that doesn't pay, and keep in mind they actually hire people to do the same job. I worked there for a while and felt weird about being in at the same time as an older lady who was doing 8 hours shifts for free. They're also pretty shady anyway, so avoid at all costs. If you don't mind me asking, how old are you? Depending on your age, MCR Pathways could be a good start? They list you as a mentor for vulnerable kids, set you up with a PVG and you spend an hour a week helping out young people, basically guiding them on their next steps in life. Really good if you want to go into education or social work/care. Quarriers do a similar programme, but I had a bad experience with them as a kid, they might have changed so do some research on both! Food banks are also a good place to start. I imagine they need help with fundraising, checking stock, organising the centre and helping the people who show up, you could maybe ask them if they need some help? Sign up for [volunteerglasgow.org](https://volunteerglasgow.org) \- they will keep you updated on volunteer opportunities across the city, most places are only too happy to have an extra set of hands to help out, and if you help out regularly enough with them, you could maybe ask if they would be willing to give you a reference for a job. It all counts towards your CV, keep a note of everything you do. If you're simply looking for work though, and looking for stuff to put on a CV, please try a job centre. Most people view them as just somewhere you go to keep claiming UC or prove why you can't work, but if you genuinely want to work, they can help you out. They have a list of courses available, apprenticeships and short term work commitments that could lead to a permanent position. Also a good tip is to show up looking quite smart, they tend to take you a little more seriously (unfortunate because I know how comfortable joggies and a baggy hoodie are). Good luck! by IrnBruDependant (Thu 6th Oct 2022 2:39pm)

  • I live in drumchapel, I don’t have any kids but if I did I’d send them to Drumchapel over Knightswood. My sister went to drumchapel, she loved it. She’s not a ned, she’s quiet and reserved and has a small group of friends so not someone who is terrorising the school. There’s clubs and activities on, kids just need to make the best of it. New headteacher is a little… unusual. I was getting texts every day, small updates for no apparent reason? I’m my sisters guardian so that’s why I got them. As far as grades go, they will be ranked low but I can explain this one too. Drumchapel seem to genuinely want the kids to have a good outcome, a lot of high school will push for exams results but drumchapel high only offer those exams if they think you can do it. Everyone else gets offered part time college courses or work courses, while still remaining in school so that’s it’s not a big shock going into the real world. by IrnBruDependant (Wed 28th Dec 2022 4:03am)
  • I rarely talk about this because I’m usually met with comments about “you killed a life” or “murderer” or some shit… but as someone who actually had an abortion, these women annoy the hell out of me. Now my pregnancy wasn’t planned, I was 6 weeks when I found out. At that point although it was unplanned, I was going to go forward and keep it. At 12 weeks, I got a scan and a blood test done for genetic reasons that will be clear soon. It came back with irregularities, so I had to go for more blood work and a more invasive scan. At 14 weeks, it was confirmed that the foetus would be born with a genetic condition called Tay Sachs, which is carried by people of Ashkenazi Jewish backgrounds. So my choice was to terminate the pregnancy, or give birth to a child that would be in unbelievable pain everyday of its life and probably not live past the age of two. The choice was very clear to me. To these women, I have made the wrong choice. They don’t take into consideration the genetic conditions, the life the child might live or the safety of the mother. Some foetuses aren’t compatible with life, it’s a kinder choice to end suffering before birth. They don’t take into consideration the women who can’t afford children, who have been raped or live in abusive situations. Forcing so many unwanted pregnancies is going to force so many children into the foster care system, something I grew up in, which is already underfunded. by IrnBruDependant (Wed 28th Dec 2022 7:00pm)
  • Appreciate that, it wasn't easy but it's been 6 years now. I think about it a lot, I don't think people ever stop thinking about it. They make us sound selfish and lazy, when the truth is so different. by IrnBruDependant (Wed 28th Dec 2022 8:36pm)
  • No one is going to answer "yes I wish I had been aborted" but it would have happened before they would have a level of consciousness? Also someone who grew up with a hard life or in a difficult situation, will know if they can offer a child a better life or not, it's pure selfish to force someone to bring a life into the world, to carry a child for 9 months knowing they can't give them a good life. There's nothing abhorrent about it, it's a clump of cells until a certain point, which is why there is a cut off for abortions. by IrnBruDependant (Wed 28th Dec 2022 8:57pm)
  • I appreciate that but I’m still one of those people. I fully believe that up to a certain point the foetus is nothing more than a clump of cells, incapable of surging outside the womb and unable to have a consciousness. by IrnBruDependant (Wed 28th Dec 2022 9:18pm)
  • I got you bro. Also happy cake day! by IrnBruDependant (Wed 28th Dec 2022 10:17pm)

Your entire comment history is a right-wing wet dream, you'll excuse me if I don't take the opinion of someone who spend his entire night in front of a computer screen, getting sweaty playing role playing games. As for your Canada comment, lay off the wacky baccy you absolute nutjob. by IrnBruDependant (Thu 29th Dec 2022 1:51am)
  • For someone who will never be put in this position, you sure have a lot to say about it. Stick to what you’re good at, online role playing games and staying anonymous. by IrnBruDependant (Thu 29th Dec 2022 2:03am)
  • You’re obsessed 😂😂 by IrnBruDependant (Thu 29th Dec 2022 2:17am)
  • It’s 2.30 in the morning but I’ll indulge for a moment. Your solution would be for me to have carried to full term? To allow a life to suffer every day and die at a young age? What about women who miscarry? Because a D&C procedure is legalised under abortion laws. Without that procedure, women would be forced to carry a dead foetus in their womb, causing sepsis. Ignore those ones for a moment, what about the women who are raped? Who didn’t have a moment to say to a man “hey I know you’re on a roll right now but do you mind sticking a condom on?”, a little cruel to ask them to carry the genetic material of someone who physically and mentally damaged them, no? What about those victims who are children? Who, although biologically are able to carry children, will suffer great mental health issues from being forced to do so? What about women who are forced into prostitution? What happens to those kids? The kids of junkies and alcoholics? Dump them in the care system? Great, along with the thousands of others that are already there? What about the ones who resort to backstreet abortions in fear, after it becomes outlawed? How many women will die because of that? But we both know you don’t care about them so what about the fact that it’s our body, our rights? What about the fact that some women genuinely can’t carry children? Since we’re going into detail, my family member has an odd shaped womb, and had to resort to surrogacy, as her pregnancies all resulted in miscarriages and a great amount of pain. Then there seems to be this great argument of people using abortions as a method of contraception and of course there’s always one (in this case, it’s you) who chimes in with “oh the women where I live brag about abortions and they’re killing a life”. Literally no one is using it as contraception. It’s an actual medical procedure. Tell me now if you’re a bible basher, I’ve got plenty more to say about that. by IrnBruDependant (Thu 29th Dec 2022 2:43am)
  • My point was that in cases of miscarriages, women who are further along must be offered a D&C procedure, which technically is covered under abortion laws. Stopping abortions means to stop a D&C procedure. Your reply was almost textbook for a man, congratulations however, this is your peak on the internet, it won’t get much better. by IrnBruDependant (Thu 29th Dec 2022 3:05am)
  • Kelvin College do a standard aptitude test for a lot of courses, I done it for the social science course and I know that the engineering one is the same. A lot of it is filling in the blanks - either they're or their or there...
