  • The new arcade and cocktail bar sounds like a good idea, I think it’s called N64 or something like that? KelvinGrove Gallery is also really fun. by MF291100 (Sun 22nd May 2022 5:42pm)
  • We drink alcohol like it’s water here, drinking is a gigantic part of our culture. The weather has bipolar. It can be sunny when you leave the house, then it can be raining like a flood by the time you cross the street. You’re going to get a *lot* of frug addicts asking you for money then harassing you if you don’t give them any. Yes, the orange cone is meant to be on that statues head. Places like Greggs, Card Factory and Pound Land are staples of Glasgow culture. If you’re looking for decent nightclubs, you want to go to Cathouse, Garage, Polo and Bamboo. by MF291100 (Mon 18th Jul 2022 11:58pm)
  • I’m not sure if I’ve seen this woman before. The only one I know I always recognise is the blonde woman that sits outside Waterstones on Argyle Street. I work in a shop on Union Street and every time I’m at work I always see her. I’ve seen her sitting there for a good few years now. It’s sad that I’ve seen her so often all of these years. by MF291100 (Wed 27th Jul 2022 1:04am)

  • I work in a shop on Union Street and I hate having to walk through it on my way to work. The amount of neds is unreal by MF291100 (Fri 5th Aug 2022 10:44am)
  • The suburbs haven’t been too bad, at least the ones I’m around. I like in Pollok and our area isn’t too bad and the surrounding neighbourhoods like Cardonald and Darnley area decent areas. But the city centre is becoming an absolute dump. I worked in a shop on Union Street until yesterday. Every day when I was walking to walk I was genuinely disgusted with the state the whole street is in. Empty shopfronts, that awful scaffolding, the stench of urine and junkies on every third step. The other streets aren’t much better off. Suchiehall Street is vile to look at now and Buchanan Street is always full of overflowing bins, empty shopfronts, homeless, litter and empty booze bottles. Our city is becoming vile to live in. by MF291100 (Sun 7th Aug 2022 10:46pm)

  • I left work at 2pm on a Saturday about three weeks ago. I went to my usual stop on West Campbell Street to wait on the X8, the only bus from the city centre that goes to my area of Pollok. I waited until 3:30pm for a bus to come, when I realised there may have been traffic or an accident diverting it another way. I walk up to the bus station and there’s about 15+ people waiting for the same bus, some of them saying they’ve been waiting since 1pm. I go to the receptionist with a few other people and his response was ‘you could all share a taxi, it’s clearly not coming and I don’t have the information as to why.’ Is that the solution to the public transport issues? Getting a fucking taxi? This city is going down the shitter. by MF291100 (Sat 13th Aug 2022 7:34pm)
  • Jokes on you, I’m not even home yet. by MF291100 (Sat 13th Aug 2022 11:07pm)
  • Nah, I don’t. I don’t really care that I’m going to get a *lot* of hate for posting this either. I seen photographs of Princes Street in Edinburgh today and it was disgusting. Bins are overflowing with litter out onto the streets and local birds and other vermin are picking it up and spreading it around even more. Last year, in my first year at college, we missed so many classes because our lecturers were striking. When we didn’t understand certain topics, or failed assessments, it was branded as our fault because we weren’t studying enough. Not because the lecturers were striking at least three times a fortnight. People are missing vital medical appointments, being late to work, and missing other important events and meetings because of the train strikes. People can’t get to where they need to be, how is the world supposed to work when people literally cannot get from one place to another? Busses are unreliable and cabs cost more than a new house most of the time. I get that people are being treated unfairly in their workplace and aren’t getting the pay they deserve. But striking and making conditions worse for *everyone*, not just your employers, isn’t the way to go about it. If everyone in poorly paid position (retail, hospitality, mechanics, plumbers, window cleaners, bar staff - I could keep going) started striking and didn’t go to work then both the economy and the world would fall apart. I’ve said what I said, move on. by MF291100 (Tue 23rd Aug 2022 10:05pm)
  • Silverburn actively give out parking tickets for virtually no reason most of the time. I’ve worked in three different stores in Silverburn and in every one coworkers say they’ve had tickets bcos they parked too long and nothing has ever came from them. Tear it up and toss it into the bin. by MF291100 (Wed 24th Aug 2022 12:53am)

  • I used to work in a school in East Renfrew, specifically in the Giffnock are. This place is nuts with how posh it is, *seriously*. I worked in the office and got to know some of the kids who appeared there often and seeing these kids aged between 12 and 17 wearing jewellery, shoes and bags worth more than my monthly rent astounded me. Nearly every car I seen in the area was one of the higher end makes and models, the shops are all ridiculously over priced and the houses - although incredibly beautiful - cost more than a small island. Even the supermarkets are fancier, they were laid end and tidier than the same stores in other areas. The people were mixed, some of they were incredibly kind and some of them were truly vile. You could tell which of them worked for their money and which had it given to them. by MF291100 (Fri 30th Sep 2022 1:27am)
  • I work in a shop in Princes Square so I have to cut through Buchanan Street to get there when I’m working. It’s a dump. The bins are absolutely disgusting and I feel sick nearly every time I walk past them. The amount of junkies you get walking up to you and asking for money is ridiculous. A few weeks ago I had one come up to me and must have been old enough to be my dad (I’m 21). He came right up to me and stood directly in front of me so I couldn’t move. He asked me for money for ‘food’. I reached into my pocket and pulled out two pound coins and a few bits of smash that probably came to about £3. I handed it to him and he looked at me like I just shat in his hand and said ‘What the fuck is that going to get me?’ Before tossing the coins into my face and walked off. Obviously I was a bit intimidated so I didn’t bother picking the coins up and just walked away. He turned around and shouted abuse at me, before beginning to follow me for about ten minutes. Eventually I made it to work and he stopped following me. This city is a disgrace and nothing is being done about these issues. by MF291100 (Wed 19th Oct 2022 12:36pm)
  • We’ve told them about the hives and they’re refusing to exterminate them. They’re endangered, and us getting attacked and having them enter our homes *daily* doesn’t seem to change that. We don’t want to pay out money when they’re going to die soon, and to be honest we shouldn’t have to, we pay our rent and taxes so the housing should be doing it but of course - they’re refusing :) by MF291100 (Sat 29th Oct 2022 7:58pm)
  • If they weren’t attacking us, I wouldn’t mind having them around. But every time we go near our bin pen, we’re attacked. Every time I hang out a washing, we’re attacked. They’re coming into the flats and stinging people. Literally just yesterday my sixty year old neighbour was out tearing weeds out of her planters and she got stung three times. At first I thought they were wasps due to their aggressiveness, but after getting a guy out from the housing they are indeed honeybees. I cannot see why they’re being so angry towards us when we haven’t went near them, attacked them, sprayed anything or hurt them in any way by MF291100 (Sun 30th Oct 2022 1:19am)
  • I’m honestly so sick of people saying ‘Don’t go to A&E’ like all of these comments. I agree that people shouldn’t be going for minor injuries, but 99% of the time when you call 111 it takes forever to get through to them. Last year I had mental health problems and harmed myself. My mum called 111 to ask for help and to get advice, she called at around 11pm and we didn’t get to speak to someone until 4am. In that space of time I could have bled to death, harmed myself again or even killed myself. The staff on 111 are the most unpleasant people I’ve ever had to speak to. My mum told them that she would speak on my behalf, and I would give verbal consent about this. The operator told her that he *must* speak with me, despite the fact I was uncomfortable talking to him. He told me that ‘We all feel crap sometimes but we don’t do this because we’re not idiots’ and made me feel worse than what I did before calling. So, ignore all of these comments and ditch the idea of ever calling 111. Go to A&E. by MF291100 (Sun 6th Nov 2022 2:55pm)

  • I have a longline grey dress coat from Debenhams that cost me £70 a few years ago in the sales. It keeps me warm and looks good with most outfits, casual or formal. It’s a male jacket, but looks like it could suit a woman. by MF291100 (Tue 22nd Nov 2022 12:30am)
  • I’ve been going nearly every weekend since September last year and I still don’t really know the music. If you’re into more mainstream stuff, there’s the room at the back of the top floor that plays charts stuff. by MF291100 (Thu 24th Nov 2022 12:01am)
  • Cathouse Rock Club on Union Street has three different dance floors for three different music tastes. There’s seating practically everywhere and the bathrooms, smoking area, and bars are always a few steps away. by MF291100 (Wed 30th Nov 2022 11:26pm)

  • If you’re looking to just sit around, talk, and drink - try a hotel bar. If you’re looking for an activity then my workplace is having ours in Vega. We’re a small store with around 8 staff members so it can fit small numbers, not sure on prices though since I didn’t organise it. by MF291100 (Fri 2nd Dec 2022 1:31am)
  • I think everyone in Glasgow is sick right now. I work in a small shop of 8 people including myself, five of us have phoned in sick over the last few days because we all feel like garbage. Most of my family have some sort of flu, and my neighbours are the same way. I went to the shop this morning for cigarettes and everyone I seen there was coughing and looked like crap. Luckily it’s not Covid, all my tests have been negative but I still feel awful. by MF291100 (Sun 18th Dec 2022 12:16pm)
  • It’s been bought by some technology company. I’m at the new City of Glasgow Campus and pass this one every morning. I can’t remember exactly what the company is called, but I’m fairly certain it’s something to do with ‘stem research’. by MF291100 (Thu 19th Jan 2023 11:38pm)

  • I used to go here too, but ended up patching it for the same reasons. If you’re local to Silverburn, try the barber in Superdrug. I’ve had cuts from all three of the barbers and they’ve been great cuts every time, really nice staff too and the prices are decent. Usually they can always fit you in when you walk-in, but on a Friday/Saturday you usually need to book in advance. by MF291100 (Fri 5th May 2023 4:19pm)
  • Not in Central, but whenever I’m on Union Street I can never get a signal or get connected. Which is weird because when I’m in The Cathouse on that street my signal is always perfect. I’m with Sky Mobile, and normally always have a great signal which is weird. by MF291100 (Mon 8th May 2023 6:03pm)
  • Really? I’ve spent most of my weekends there since 2021 and I’ve loved it every time. I can see why it’s unenjoyable though, sometimes the queues to get in / get served are miles long and the staff can be a bit unfriendly. by MF291100 (Mon 8th May 2023 8:22pm)
  • I’m not a huge fan of the music myself. Some of it is pretty commonly known rock music and alt, but I mainly go for the people. You get some idiots every now and again, but 98% of the people that go to Catty are some of the nicest and kindest people I’ve ever met. They’re what makes me go back. by MF291100 (Mon 8th May 2023 9:07pm)
  • X8 is probably one of the most unreliable busses in the city. I work in Princes Square and live in Pollok so I use that bus to get to and from work, 95% of the time it’s extremely late or just doesn’t show up at all and I have to get a bus to Silverburn and walk home. by MF291100 (Sat 20th May 2023 1:37am)

  • Definitely agree. I wasn’t in a great place mentally in 2021 and tried to take my own life, the staff couldn’t have been nicer and I’m so thankful that they were like this - they’re one of the reasons that I’m still alive. by MF291100 (Sat 27th May 2023 10:48pm)
  • Polo is alright, not my favourite place to go but it’s decent enough. I’ve never been to Delmonica’s or AXM but I’ve heard good things. by MF291100 (Mon 29th May 2023 12:32pm)
  • We’ve just started going too and the main things we’ve been buying are: • Croissants - It looks like you wouldn’t eat all of them as there’s a lot in the packet, but with two people in our house we burned through them in five days. They’re really handy for a quick breakfast. • Emerge - Those 50p orange energy drinks are great, if you drink you can use them as a mixer and it’s nice. If you don’t, they’re alright on their own. • Books - I didn’t think I’d get any books there, but some of the deals are great. If you or anyone you know like fashion type things, they sell those ‘Catwalk’ books for like £30 and they look really nice as decor. The regular books are well priced too. by MF291100 (Thu 1st Jun 2023 1:14am)

  • It’s always been a thing. I live in Pollok and work in the city centre so I commute by bus - some of the absolute weapons I see on my bus are unreal. People blaring music and videos through their speakers, folk just staring at you for no reason, and neds slating everyone they look at. The worst thing I seen was after the bus left /Silverburn and got onto the motorway, these two wee guys (maybe 14-16) walked up and down the aisle of the bus and opened every window. Then they went to the back and lit up two joints - I’m not kidding, whole bus absolutely stank. by MF291100 (Mon 5th Jun 2023 1:18pm)

  • I’ve booked tickets to see it with a friend on the 27th and then again on the 29th with another friend, very much looking forward to this. Not sure why so many people are raging in the comments. You don’t like Banksy, that’s great, but let those of us that like their work enjoy it. by MF291100 (Fri 16th Jun 2023 1:36am)
  • Coming from a similarly aged guy (22) that works and is also a student. I spoke to my doctor about my issues when they were at their worst and I was put onto Citralopram, it’s an anti-depressant. It works differently for everyone but for me I still had negative thoughts, but they either went away fairly quickly or weren’t as extreme as what I normally felt. The best thing for me was switching jobs - I know not everyone can do this but it’s worth considering if work causes stress and negative thoughts. I worked as a school receptionist and was totally depressed and even attempted suicide a few times, I ditched that job and went to work for CEX for a while but that didn’t work out either. Now I work in a job I absolutely love, I’m in one of the jewellers in Princes Sqaure and I cannot believe how much I love going to work now. I think that speaking to your GP is definitely the best course of action, perhaps trying soek medication and seeing what works. But like I said, what worked for me was switching jobs. Hope that you’re going to get on the mend soon. by MF291100 (Sun 18th Jun 2023 4:55pm)

  • Your local pharmacy will be able to help. They have me patches but I couldn’t stick it and continued smoking, but I really hope you can quit it! It’s a tough thing to do, but it’ll definitely be worth it. One warning I’ll give is to *never* wear the patches to bed. I did that and had extremely wacky dreams, not nightmares or anything bad - just really weird and vivid dreams. by MF291100 (Sun 2nd Jul 2023 1:55am)

  • That bus stop in the first photo is where I get on the bus home from work, you get a view down to George Sq from there. Today I looked down and seen loads of sirens. Wondering what time this was taken, I got there today about 4ish and there wasn’t any horses by MF291100 (Sun 23rd Jul 2023 9:18pm)
  • Honestly I think you’re better using the app. I used this new service when it got rolled out and it didn’t work. I tapped when I got on and when I got off and got charged £4.75 for what’s normally the price of a single journey ticket. I stopped using and started again like last week maybe, and got charged £5.80 for a one way ticket into town. by MF291100 (Wed 26th Jul 2023 3:05am)

  • Depends on your budget. Toni and Guy in the Centre Centre are brilliant, I’ve been there about a dozen times since 2018 and I’ve always been satisfied and really happy with the final product - it is a little bit expensive though. If you’re looking for something on the cheaper side then I’m always happy with my hair after going to the Beauty Studio at Superdrug Silverburn, it’s about £14 and if I’m looking for a cheap haircut its a great place to go. Barbers Under The Bridge is also great for a cheaper haircut too, that’s just next to Raddison Blue at the Central Tunnel by MF291100 (Mon 2nd Oct 2023 12:23am)
  • I always see a lot of older people at Cathouse on Union Street, most people that go there are really friendly so you’ll probably meet someone to talk to by MF291100 (Wed 4th Oct 2023 3:01pm)
  • When I was coming home from work not long after 6pm about two or three vans passed me going towards Union St, wonder if it’s connected. by MF291100 (Wed 4th Oct 2023 9:37pm)
  • I hate giving money to these wankers. The bus I normally get home from St Vincent Street either turns up extremely late or doesn’t show up at all. I will say it’s been showing up a lot more recently, but for some reason they’ve changed the bus to a single decker as opposed to the normal double decker after like 4pm. Now less people are able to get on because it’s packed by the time it gets to the first stop after it leaves the station. By the time we reach the last stop before going on the motorway half the time the bus is so full it doesn’t even stop for the people waiting there. Like it’s a packed bus even when it’s a double decker, so it’s totally idiotic to make it a single decker during rush hour of all times. by MF291100 (Thu 5th Oct 2023 11:38pm)
  • Ahh, I never knew that. I just find it strange because the bus (X8) is a double decker from about 7am-4pm on weekdays and always a doubler on weekends. by MF291100 (Thu 5th Oct 2023 11:47pm)
