  • Hey as long as it's going to the right people. If those who no longer need to sell the Big Issue all day can take that and use it, then the next wave can take on the BI, those who are begging, who would no longer need to beg, that would be great. But that's not going to happen is it? Because I'm far too a positive thinker. by Peear75 (Wed 4th Mar 2020 1:27am)
  • They are a joke, I know. You need to report them online it's easy enough, you just place a pointer exactly where it is and they'll come out in a few days to fix it. [https://www.mygov.scot/report-pothole/](https://www.mygov.scot/report-pothole/) by Peear75 (Mon 9th Mar 2020 4:30am)

  • If it's GCC there is a dedicated noise pollution officer you can contact. Other than that, keep a diary of every incidents date and times and when you have a handful hand them to your housing officer. Even if yours is a private let and you are surrounded by council properties the housing officer should do all they can. by Peear75 (Tue 19th May 2020 5:26pm)

  • If our media is ignoring it then it's safe to assume there is not enough evidence yet and most probably evidence is still being gathered, which can take years. • Let us know because I'm always looking for asian & oriental spices and usually just get them online. But it would be good to know of a well stocked shop in the west end, I mean the proper west end beyond Kelvinbridge. There's a couple of world food markets in Yoker but they've always been closed any time I passed recently. by Peear75 (Fri 10th Jul 2020 11:41am)
  • As were Bank of Scotland, Anniesland. I mean I suppose you could just pretend you were coming in, get given a mask and walk out again then you have won a free mask. by Peear75 (Sat 11th Jul 2020 12:26am)
  • Different rules for various areas of Glasgow and Greater Glasgow. In the city and west, south and north if you leave for example, a sofa outside your fence on the pavement it will be picked up (in non pandemic times) fairly quickly by the council, or quicker if the Romanians happen to drive past and fancy it. In East Renfrewshire so just a couple miles south of the city, you need to report it and pay to have it picked up. by Peear75 (Thu 16th Jul 2020 1:12am)
  • Aye folk seem to have thought I have an issue with Romanians. I certainly don't. The quicker an old couch or fridge disappears the better. People of all creeds drive around picking stuff up, but it is in fact, in my area, Romanians. And good luck to them. by Peear75 (Thu 16th Jul 2020 12:41pm)
  • I watched a YT video the other day of a young American couple who visited Glasgow and used the bus to get to one end of the city, they couldn't believe how awful it was. With regards to the payment system, I quote: "You put the money into a box and it falls through immediately, the driver didn't even know how much was in there, there's no way he had time to count if we put the right amount in and it has no weight system. And they don't give change even if you only have a £20 note. Then there is nothing to indicate what the next stop is, there's an electronic sign which looks like it once worked but hasn't for many years." And I'd tend to agree with that, if you live here and have used the public transport your whole life you know how it all works, the same with Edinburgh. But for tourists and visitors they have no chance. It's a shambles. by Peear75 (Fri 17th Jul 2020 4:15pm)
  • I have noticed this and put it down to them missing the schoolies dumping their half eaten noodles and lunch on the pavement these past four months. by Peear75 (Sat 18th Jul 2020 2:08pm)

  • This could be the best or perhaps the worst advice ever but I find that when faced with a gang of neds I just prepare in my mind and be ready for the most ridiculous thing that could happen, because the chances of it becoming reality are higher when there is a chance - such as being alone in the park - that it will happen, eventually. If this happens again maybe just pull over and let them pass. by Peear75 (Thu 30th Jul 2020 11:19am)
  • Happy Cake Day. Sorry to hear about this, we do have these issues it can't be brushed under the carpet any more. But I firmly believe this generation of middle aged neds might just be the last. I'm 45 and grew up with them, I see young people now and for the most part they are fairly decent people, from my perspective at least. by Peear75 (Fri 31st Jul 2020 7:52am)
  • I'm a weegie and lived in Cheshire and Staffordshire, for a number of years I ran backstreet pubs in rough towns there and always found that trouble makers tend to take a step back when they heard my accent, it was my only survival tool really. But I can honestly say I was treated brilliantly by the majority of people and was never abused other than the usual 'Jock wanker' in jest which I have no problem with at all. by Peear75 (Fri 31st Jul 2020 7:56am)

  • My old da has been in a few times and when visiting I always found it to be a pretty awesome place, bar the entrance where smokers gather in abundance. Parking is handy and it has a decent little M&S store with self service. Obviously I don't work there so haven't seen the things you have, but on appearances it gets my thumbs up. It's still the Southern General as far as we're concerned. by Peear75 (Tue 11th Aug 2020 10:24am)

  • You're going to notice it getting very dark, very early, like mid-afternoon early, then not getting light again until later in the mornings. Don't let it get you down, just dress up warm, keep your house nice and cosy and you'll be fine. by Peear75 (Tue 29th Sep 2020 8:56pm)
  • Mate I got a clear picture of everything you just said as we've all experienced it to some extent, you've even made the bad bits sound colourful. Some of us take it all for granted, I know I did when I moved down south for five years. I could feel myself being re-charged with Glaswegian spirit as that train pulled slowly into central on my return. PS I love the rain. by Peear75 (Mon 5th Oct 2020 10:14pm)
  • Pubs and restaurants have contributed to 25% of new cases in the past month. Most are doing what they can do, we appreciate that. But some are clearly not. Presumably you understand why this action is needed and don't really consider it a punishment? You're allowed to be angry and understanding at the same time, they're not mutually exclusive. by Peear75 (Wed 7th Oct 2020 9:44pm)
  • Teens these days seem to think they are invincible, perhaps a psychological condition of having infinite lives in computer games where they are killed violently. They also appear to consider themselves immune to the forces of law. The Police need to get their finger out and give them a bloody good hiding, because their parents don't seem to give a fuck. by Peear75 (Fri 23rd Oct 2020 9:37am)

  • Ah. Going by the comments it's not good. I recently by total coincidence found out the same about an old flat mate, while it was not at all surprising, and there was nothing I could have done to change that, it's just disappointing. by Peear75 (Tue 10th Nov 2020 11:56pm)
  • Not a cycler and this is a bit off-topic, but I'm told that Cycling shorts are incredibly comfy and it's like someone is cupping your balls all day. Is that true? And can anyone recommend a decent brand to look for? by Peear75 (Wed 11th Nov 2020 6:31pm)
  • I've seen the annual group night walks for charity about, but maybe a small regular group walk would be great. There's a group for night runners, they congregate outside my house but I'm not a runner. As a bit of a night owl myself a couple nights a week I'd like to go for a nice, quiet walk in peace maybe along the canal path or something. Doesn't even have to be 'night' at the moment just early evening is dark. by Peear75 (Fri 13th Nov 2020 10:27pm)

  • Utilita saleswoman came to my door and wouldn't take no for an answer, literally begged me just to come in for five minutes. I was with Scottish Power at the time and was a bit pissed off that they'd incorrectly billed me not long before. Anyway long story short I went with it and got the Utilita smart meter. It's actually more convenient for me tbh and you can control how much gas & electric you're using to a certain extent. They are pushy, and I told the girl you'd better be getting a decent commission for this, she told me they're not on commission. They probably just have a certain target they need to meet every week. by Peear75 (Fri 20th Nov 2020 5:33am)

  • You've gone outside the city boundaries there so that's where they bump up the prices. It is a horrible service, sadly First hold the monopoly and can do whatever they like. I don't know why we can't just have an Oyster card the same as London. by Peear75 (Wed 25th Nov 2020 6:00pm)

  • Govanhill has been greatly improved in the past few years but sadly the same attitudes towards it remain as before. The council are constantly cleaning it up at the same rate it's been ruined. There was a lot of positive community spirit prior to Covid. Someone needs to fight to get that back. by Peear75 (Sun 28th Feb 2021 10:59pm)
  • Indeed that was 'funded' by a corrupt gentleman and donor to the DUP. • Crooked landlords ruined it. Buying up a lot of the tenements on the cheap and doing little to no repairs, no cleaning up in the back communal areas and with no regards to health & safety. They are for the best part, now gone. by Peear75 (Sun 28th Feb 2021 11:51pm)

  • I had noisy neighbours at a previous flat and like you, slept with earplugs and noise cancelling headphones but that's only a temporary solution. I know it's a really horrible feeling, the least you should expect is to feel relaxed in your own home. Hope it gets sorted sooner rather than later. Now I live in a studio flat, it's small but very comfortable because it's too small for couples and definitely too small for people with kids, so it's all single people living here and the dead silence at night is bliss. by Peear75 (Sun 7th Mar 2021 5:40am)

  • Well aye, that's the thing really you cook them yourself and scoff them right away, so it's better than the cold / hauf cold ones out Greggs. by Peear75 (Tue 30th Mar 2021 1:00am)
  • She's living alone and her noisy neighbours are pissing her off, so I would consider downsizing to a studio flat actually. Less rent, less council tax, hopefully she won't have to pay to park outside that seems ridiculous. But the biggest advantage is having quiet neighbours. Studio flats are too small for couples, too small for people with kids and are certainly too small for parties. So she can save money and do her mental health a world of good by doing this. She will have her bedroom and lounge blended into one room, but have a separate kitchen and bathroom. So she can forget the noisy washing machine while trying to work in her living space. by Peear75 (Tue 30th Mar 2021 6:26pm)
  • I'm so glad my advice is appreciated haha. I moved to a studio flat from a high rise and my mental health has improved immeasurably. The silence is bliss. by Peear75 (Tue 30th Mar 2021 7:27pm)
  • A bedsit is a long way down from a studio flat. I think you might be confusing the two. In a studio flat you have your own bathroom & kitchen. by Peear75 (Tue 30th Mar 2021 8:39pm)
  • I've seen those bedsits. Mate had one years ago right in front of Queens Park, one of the fancy Edwardian town houses. Seventh floor (Attic) right at the top with just stairs, shared bathroom and the bath was literally green (It was supposed to be white) Nobody should be subjected to that. Another mate I dropped him off at his bedsit for starting Uni in Liverpool, and that room you couldn't even lay flat from one side to the other. Rotten shit. by Peear75 (Tue 30th Mar 2021 9:09pm)
  • That sucks. Sorry to hear that. In my last high rise (Lincoln) upstairs had laminate floors and noisy kids that ran around at 2am jumping onto the floor from a height over and over. Nightmare fuel. A good landlord or housing association would never put a family into something as small as this. As for the two dickheads all you can do is keep a diary of incidents and get the noise pollution team out to measure the decibals regularly. It's not good enough really we need zero tolerance on noisy techno cvnts. by Peear75 (Tue 30th Mar 2021 9:46pm)
  • I spray bleach on mouldy walls which works ok from a visual perspective but long term it's not going to fix the problem. You're probably like me and just living with it until you get something better. The landlord will need to address it at some point. by Peear75 (Tue 30th Mar 2021 9:52pm)
  • I thought Wilton Street was alright the ones I've been in but that's not good. I didn't even know we had Cockroaches in this country and was shocked when I found out how common they are. by Peear75 (Tue 30th Mar 2021 9:57pm)

  • Get a 'Ring' Doorbell, if your door faces theirs or is on the same landing. You can get a protective box for them now in case anyone tries to remove it. Of course they may also try to remove the protective box. This was a terrible idea. by Peear75 (Wed 7th Apr 2021 9:34am)
  • Just means we need to work harder. by Peear75 (Mon 12th Apr 2021 2:29am)
  • You just take your chances really, with an ounce of common sense thrown in. The only thing I do make sure if there's a parent and small child waiting to cross I'll wait until they do as I don't want to set a bad example, even if the parents are by making a dash for it. Same rule applies if someone is waiting with a dog, they could be in training so I'll wait for them too. by Peear75 (Wed 14th Apr 2021 8:19pm)

Advantages are the shops are decent and Cessnock underground is right there. June, July, August you'll be woken on Saturday mornings by a hoard of zombie drummers and flutists. Are you moving from elsewhere in Glasgow, or elsewhere on the island? I only go to Clydebank once or twice a month but I can say for certain there are plenty of good eateries. So look around. Pub-wise I've no idea but I always go past the Lovat and they're flying Clydebank FC flags (an Amateur club these days, I think, although someone will correct me) And they play home games about 100 yards away in what I assume to be a family atmosphere, up to a point, it's still the west of Scotland... by Peear75 (Wed 15th Sep 2021 7:37pm)
  • From the southside, mate yeah definitely get a 'man with a van' dear god I honestly thought you were moving from England. Yes that shit costs a bomb. In essence 80p to go the two extra stops. However as I say it's very rare for a driver to actually give a flying shite where you're going. • Me and my dad usually hit one of Cook & Indi's world buffet places around xmas time, not on xmas day. Usually the one in Darnley but there are three in the city centre and one in Motherwell. Me and him are a pair of tight arses so trust me it's affordable, and the food's excellent value. £7.99 mon-fri and £8.99 on a saturday. Of course if it's imperative that you must do something on the 25th because society dictated it then it's no use to you. by Peear75 (Fri 26th Nov 2021 8:09pm)
  • The best part of winter is the wee rows of miners cottages around Glasgow with their chimneys belting out smoke. It takes me on a nice wee journey into yonder past, and smells fantastic. by Peear75 (Mon 29th Nov 2021 2:20am)

  • I like how those [mock-up](https://i.imgur.com/2FAQaiQ.jpg) shots always portray Glasgow on a blue skied summer day. Like the new build has suddenly chased the every other day black clouds and pishing rain away. by Peear75 (Wed 1st Dec 2021 10:59pm)

  • If you refer to the Tenements and Georgian houses, it's very expensive to have modern double glazing, upwards of £5k - £7k now. I believe you can't use PVC in them either, it has to be wood. But someone might correct me on that. The cost of double glazing far outweighs the cost of turning the heating up, and definitely if you're not sure that you'll be living there for the rest of your days. by Peear75 (Sat 4th Dec 2021 7:08pm)

  • Welcome to Glasgow. Honestly there are not many South American places in Glasgow, and those which are, are mostly Mexican. There's plenty of room for somewhere that sells a good Ceviche or a Provoleta even a fast food place that does Pollo a la Brassa. I know one thing, Salchipappa has been hijacked, made terrible and re-branded as over-priced Dirty Fries. So a decent one of those for folks coming out the pubs at night would be very welcome. by Peear75 (Mon 6th Dec 2021 1:31am)

  • Overlee Park used to be mobbed on days like this, it was a decent run but there was a wire fence at the bottom so needed some sort of braking system. So then we moved to Clarkston Golf Club, with a similar gradient and distance but you could just let it run out of steam at the bottom, no braking required. by Peear75 (Fri 7th Jan 2022 4:34pm)

Whether it was screaming the place down when I was in the queue to see Santa, or being too anxious to go in for an important exam. They didn't know why, and neither did I until I got much older. • Less celeb. More local news, and I don't mean in the style of Glasgow Live, which is no more than an aggregator of semi-relevant stories, runs exactly the same way as Birmingham Live, or Edinburgh Live etc. It's robotic. Nobody actually works there. More balance in the context of Scottish politics, I think we all know how the scale tips with regards to that. In-depth analysis of deaths which may have been incorrectly recorded, or recorded in such as way as they inadvertently make a dent in the headline statistics. Cold case investigations, and a weekly round-up of the best weed available in the city. by Peear75 (Thu 7th Jul 2022 8:46pm)

  • I'm so sorry to hear this. Dennistoun is a target now because it's a sought after area. It won't be anything personal. by Peear75 (Mon 6th Nov 2023 12:00pm)

  • I'd love to have some street lights, of any kind, given that Anniesland is in perpetual darkness during the winter. The few that do work are completely useless. Can anyone remember the last time the lights worked on the signs going through Anniesland Cross? It's fine though, the most depressing Christmas tree in Glasgow will be here next month, with the lights just chucked over it by the council. by Peear75 (Sat 11th Nov 2023 10:35pm)
  • The Tantrum Donuts motor, parks next to mine, in the west end. The thing is, I hate donuts. What a complete waste of time and energy. Bread actually serves a purpose, not when you fry it in sugar. I hope their business survives. Trey are quiet. by Peear75 (Tue 14th Nov 2023 1:11am)
  • I just buy the tomato and cheese base in the supermarkets and add my own stuff to it, as much cheese as I like and cooked to my own taste. Can't go wrong. by Peear75 (Sun 19th Nov 2023 3:48pm)
  • 11/15 considering I haven't been on it for a good 20 years cannae be bad. • They know nothing else but to punch down. It's a shame because if they started punching up instead they might actually make a difference to society in general, improving it for themselves and their future families. by Peear75 (Fri 1st Dec 2023 11:07am)
  • Had a go mate but honestly, it's far too far away and even the best photography equipment isn't going to fix that. Sorry bud. by Peear75 (Mon 4th Dec 2023 5:32pm)
  • I feel you. Whatever you need I'm sure the city can provide one way or another. Bits and pieces for your place and Christmas are one thing but if you need an ear to listen without judgment gies a shout. by Peear75 (Mon 4th Dec 2023 10:17pm)
  • Cos they're absolute belters? by Peear75 (Tue 5th Dec 2023 7:44pm)

  • You can go two ways, like an alcoholic. Alcoholic's can be a happy alcoholic or an angry alcoholic, You can take a few Patsy's and get the house cleaned, get the dinner started and check your email, or you can run into the street get your dick out and put your head through a bus. Depends on your personality, your purpose for using it in the first place, whatever else you've had that day mixed with it, there are so many possibilities. by Peear75 (Wed 20th Dec 2023 12:43am)
