  • Not a bad idea, might give it a go. by RhombusKP (Fri 7th Aug 2020 4:18am)
  • I dont quite understand what you mean. Both taking away and eating in helps keep restaurants in buisness, if anything taking away is probably better for them as there is no limit to how many take aways they can sell while there is a limit to how many people they can host on their premises. As for your theory on how they could scam the government, they could claim fake 'dining in' meals the same way they could claim fake takeaway meals, there's no verification for either. I'd say the most likely reason they introduced the scheme with the 'dine in' only restriction was to encourage people to get more comfortable spending money in indoor areas in general, so that there's an boom in spending when highstreet shops re-open. by RhombusKP (Fri 7th Aug 2020 6:15am)
  • Fair enough, I hadn't considered that angle. Although from what ive seen the most popular restaurants are packed out on the days the scheme is running, so if I manage to get a takeaway out of it I don't think I'd be causing any damage. If staff have been brought back due to the already high influx of people dining in and I'm putting the same amount of cash in the restaurants hands then I feel like everyone still wins: staff go back to work, restaurant makes the same amount, government gets employment and consumer spending up, I get cheap food without getting covid. Is there something im not considering? by RhombusKP (Fri 7th Aug 2020 7:26am)
  • Hmm interesting, your help is appreciated cheers. by RhombusKP (Fri 7th Aug 2020 7:46am)
  • I've always found online is the way to go, i'm 6"6 and its the only way I ever find stuff that fits me. ASOS, M&S are pretty good and if your cool with buying second hand then Ebay and Depop are great. by RhombusKP (Fri 7th Aug 2020 7:56am)
  • Ah nice, which cafe was it? by RhombusKP (Fri 7th Aug 2020 8:06am)
  • Cheers, I'll check it out. Do you really think there will be many more redundancies still to come in the hospitality industry tho? From what ive seen most places are packed out right now. by RhombusKP (Fri 7th Aug 2020 8:17am)
  • I think theres a fair amount that aren't open yet and rge ones that are open are probably not back in full flow yet im assuming. by RhombusKP (Fri 7th Aug 2020 9:13am)
  • Fingers crossed there isn't many more. A lot of people seem to think the pandemic is over, which despite being a threat to public health, is at least giving the country a bit of an economic boost. Lets hope that translates into some solid job protection. by RhombusKP (Fri 7th Aug 2020 9:15am)
  • Thats a little harsh, keep in mind that people who get into hard heroine use are often at an incredibly low point in their life when they start. by RhombusKP (Thu 20th Aug 2020 11:18pm)
  • A Hard life can = heroin use. People use it as a way of escaping the pain and reality of a shitty existence. Given certain circumstances and enviroments its easy for people to get roped into an addiction. Its not just cunts that take it for a laugh then run out onto the streets to fuck shit up. by RhombusKP (Thu 20th Aug 2020 11:29pm)
  • Battlefield Rest - Classic Italian restaurant (best one in Glasgow imo) Tinto Tapas - Spanish tapas restaurant Julie's Kopitiam - Malaysian restaurant All in the southside and all great. :) by RhombusKP (Tue 25th Aug 2020 6:38pm)
  • Most places have some good measures in place but transmission is still a possibilty obviously. If you're worried then finding a place with outdoor seating is the way to go for sure. by RhombusKP (Mon 7th Sep 2020 11:20pm)
  • Anywhere is ok to go I'd say, it's just important to incorporate some common sense. I.e. keep distance where possible, if you have to be in close proximity to strangers then wear a mask, wash or sterilise your hands after touching lots of public surfaces etc. by RhombusKP (Sun 20th Sep 2020 3:20am)
  • I wish I had the balls to call people out on this bullshit like you've done. So many times I've seen people posting videos of parties with packed out rooms and I so desperately want to message them and tell them to stop being such a cunt. by RhombusKP (Mon 28th Sep 2020 12:41am)
  • Its bad right now but I'd say as a general rule Glasgow and Scotland in general has been pretty good during the pandemic. The majority of people here seem to be fairly considerate and cautious about transmission (which is not something that can really be said about many other areas in the UK), so I think in the long run you'll be fine here. by RhombusKP (Thu 1st Oct 2020 10:13pm)

  • Covid will probably stand in your way a bit when it comes to making friends as people are probably less keen on socialising with strangers now than ever. But once things eventually return to normal I'm sure you'll meet people with all the activities your into no bother. Outside of that I'd personally recommend not trying too hard. When your desperate to make friends it can be difficult, but when you just stop stressing yourself out about it, try to get comfortable in your own company and take the chance to socialise when it naturally arises then friendships will inevitably start organically. Those are usually the best kinds of friendships in my experience anyway because they don't feel forced. Hope your move goes smoothly mate :) by RhombusKP (Fri 23rd Oct 2020 3:13am)
  • I wouldn't worry about the southside, it's an incredibly safe and family dominant area for the most part. Battlefield, Shawlands and Strathbungo (areas in the southside) all fall into that category and are probably the most 'cool/hip' locations in Glasgow outside of the west end imo. Hope this helped and hope your move goes smoothly :) by RhombusKP (Tue 27th Oct 2020 5:37pm)
  • If you were having a gender reveal party before the pandemic you were a mindless degenerate. Holding one during the pandemic is an un-contested level of cuntdom. by RhombusKP (Sat 31st Oct 2020 6:21am)
  • The real question is why aren't you looking for a PS5 instead? by RhombusKP (Sun 15th Nov 2020 1:37pm)
  • Really depends on where abouts in Bathgate you want to catch the bus and where abouts in Glasgow you want to get off. Google Maps has a feature where you to put in your starting point and destination and it shows you all the available public transport links (including the bus). On first glance it looks like you'll probably have to take 2 busses to get from Bathgate to Glasgow, but as I said it depends on the starting and end points. If you're not comfortable with Google Maps you can reply with the start and end points and I'll check the routes for you if you like :) by RhombusKP (Tue 17th Nov 2020 3:43am)
  • First of all you don't know that for sure, and second of all if they are going as far as 'pretending to be homeless' then that tells you what a desperate, shit situation they must be in. Either way, I'd have a little compassion and sympathy for what they're going through. by RhombusKP (Sun 22nd Nov 2020 12:15am)
  • Man it must be shit to be eastern European in Glasgow if this is the attitude towards them. Good job guys, congrats on your non existent empathy. by RhombusKP (Sun 22nd Nov 2020 1:43am)
  • Sure but why are you assuming that they're a scammer. You've never met them and you have no idea who they are, and yet you don't make that assumption about every homeless person you see on the street. So isn't ethnicity the only factor your singling out to the make the judgement in this case? by RhombusKP (Sun 22nd Nov 2020 1:54am)
  • It probably wont be enough to pay rent in full, but match betting is an easy way to make some extra cash (don't worry it's not actually gambling like the name suggests). This article explains it quite well. by RhombusKP (Fri 27th Nov 2020 9:29pm)

  • Hey, first of all I really feel for you mate, this pandemic has taken its toll on everyone but for some far more than others. Just know that there is an end in sight and eventually you'll be in a better place even if it dosen't seem like it now. I just asked a family member who worked for the Glasgow Homelessness Network for over a decade and she said that your best bet would probably be to get in contact with the council, just because homelessness charities are so over-run right now and the waiting list will be insane. If you do manage to get a council interview, make sure you dress your best and sound as 'middle class' and educated as possible. I know that sounds crazy but she said that in her experience those were the people that were offered the best help, which is incredibly sad but apparently true. Best of luck mate, I'm rooting for you. by RhombusKP (Tue 5th Jan 2021 8:35am)
  • The problem is that even if you do find a street that isn't icy it wom't be too long until you turn on to one that is. For me grass fields in parks are a good option, less slippy than icy concrete and if you do happen to slip you'll do less damage. by RhombusKP (Tue 5th Jan 2021 10:10am)
  • You do realise that if your outside and standing several metres away from everyone else then transmission is nigh on impossible right? Lockdown rules like the essential travel one are rightly made as blanket guidance for people who are too stupid to apply their knowledge of the virus to their daily actions. I'm not sure if you're one of those people or not, but I can confirm that its impossible to transmit Covid if you're standing alone, (this will shock you) EVEN IF IT'S NOT ESSENTIAL FOR YOU TO BE OUT. by RhombusKP (Tue 5th Jan 2021 11:51am)

  • Hey there, really sorry this is happening to you, sounds like an absolute nightmare and it's awful you've suffered so much. I have to admit that when I was young and naive, me and my mates would fuck about with lasers and we always thought of it as harmless fun. Until someone rung our doorbell, complained to my mum and she explained how harmful it could be. If the people shining the laser were as young as I was, there's a good chance that they're not doing anything malicious and are just ignorant to the fact that what they're doing can be extremeley harmful. So if you know which flat they're in, maybe its worth a knock on their door to let the parents know, that's what sorted us out. by RhombusKP (Fri 22nd Jan 2021 5:14pm)
  • Tinfoil behind the radiators stops the heat escaping into the walls pretty well, if you put the central heating on a lot I defo recommend this. by RhombusKP (Sat 23rd Jan 2021 5:49am)

  • Thanks, I appreciate the help. Do you by any chance know the specific locations of the walk in centres particularly in the southside? There's shockingly little info on their whereabouts unfortunately. by RhombusKP (Fri 5th Feb 2021 7:17pm)
  • Ah ok that's not too far for me I don't think. Do you remember how you found out where it was? by RhombusKP (Fri 5th Feb 2021 7:23pm)
  • Cheers. Any chance you know if theres a walk in centre in the southside? Can't find any info on their whereabouts. by RhombusKP (Fri 5th Feb 2021 7:19pm)

  • Fuck me that's incredible. I don't often comment on photography but this one really blew me away. by RhombusKP (Tue 2nd Mar 2021 11:06pm)
  • It's really good. Maybe this is all in my head, but compared to other cities around the world I've drank tap water in, Glasgow's is a little sweeter, and a little lighter (like marginally less thick and heavy feeling). by RhombusKP (Thu 4th Mar 2021 6:06pm)
  • Sorry but I fully agree with your friend here. All the issues you raised are aboslutely true and must be changed, but that doesn't change the fact that most football fans are respectful, normal people. As a "non football fan" you're only shown the shittiest actions that a small percentage of football fans commit that gets reported on the news, and that's giving you a very warped view of the situation. If the media broadcasted the millions of fans around the world that enjoy football peacefully every day, you'd have a very different perspective on the sport I think. by RhombusKP (Mon 8th Mar 2021 4:51pm)
  • I don't go to Dundee but I can give you a little tip that helped me out a lot. Might not be happening because of covid but try and go to an open day, it's an obvious one but it really gave me a good sense of what the uni's were all about. If there's no open day, (and again, if covid restrictions permit it) just take a walk around the campus and see what you come across. I did this with the uni I'm currently attending (GCU), and I got to check out the facilities, meet a few people and even got a glimpse into a lecture that was taking place while I was there. Went with a mate who was also considering GCU and it ended up being that little bit extra that convinced us both to go there. by RhombusKP (Sun 4th Apr 2021 8:13am)
  • It's safe. Glasgow in general is a pretty accepting city but the Southside is even more so I'd say. by RhombusKP (Sun 11th Apr 2021 12:49am)

  • People use Tinder and Bumble to make friends? I wasn't aware of this. What was it about your experience that didn't work out? by RhombusKP (Tue 13th Apr 2021 12:42am)
  • I think for the most part you'll be totally fine and if you do have anyone heckling you about being American it'll be lighthearted. But maybe more importantly, it'll be a fantastic opportunity to showcase your improvisational talent as a comedian. The courage it takes to put yourself in as exposing and vulnerable an enviroment as an open mic is unbelievable. So regardless of how it goes, you should feel incredibly proud of yourself for having a bash at it. Best of luck, I hope you nail it :) by RhombusKP (Thu 22nd Apr 2021 12:41am)
  • The queues do get long sometimes, but in my experience they tend to move fairly quickly and you never end up waiting too long. Defo worth it either way tho for how good the food is. by RhombusKP (Fri 23rd Apr 2021 9:25am)
  • I wouldn't worry about it too much. As someone who owns one of those tiny drones I can tell you that they're really hard to get the hang of because the wind has such an impact on them. Unless it was overtly clear that the pilot was filming you, the likelihood is that they didn't mean it. by RhombusKP (Sat 24th Apr 2021 1:20am)
  • I don't think it would change if they spent a few weeks here. friendly, chilled out atmosphere is genuinely one of the reasons I love living in Glasgow. Other than that I'd say one big plus is the fact that it's big enough to have the positive aspects of a major city (every kind of shop you could think of, a wide range of different enviroments for different demographics, big enough that musicians come here on tours etc.) And it's small enough that it doesn't have many of the issues that a city like London has, which from experience I can say grates on you after a while (i.e. takes ages to travel across the city, becomes a world center for buisness so everyone is in a rush and the streets feel overly busy, everything is extremely expensive etc.) I also love the abundance of parks and greenery, takes the harshness of a city enviroment away a little. There are positives and drawbacks to all cities tho, if you were coming to Glasgow expecting a perfect experience then you were bound to be dissapointed, it's flawed just like anywhere else. by RhombusKP (Sat 24th Apr 2021 10:39pm)
  • I remember my mate bought a box of chips and cheese once that had 3 toenails in it (I say toenails rather than finger nails because one of them was huge, as if it had come from a big toe). That shit was grim af. by RhombusKP (Fri 30th Apr 2021 4:08am)

  • The way you phrase it is as if jaywalking is frowned upon here but some people do it anyway because they don't want to wait. In reality, jaywalking isn't a thing here at all (neither in law or culturally), just cross whenever you feel it's safe and don't worry about it, no one will care. by RhombusKP (Mon 3rd May 2021 5:04am)

I highly doubt they'd give you the wrong haircut if you just ask for it normally tbh, but if you make it make it extra clear they definitley won't. by RhombusKP (Sat 8th May 2021 10:05am)

Secondly, even if that was the reason, why should we judge them negatively for that?
