  • >I’m absolutely gutted the neighbours’ dog woke me up and spoiled my lie in. Doing Carmina Burana again tonight, last night was in Edinburgh. It’s an exhausting piece of music but it’s SO DAMN GOOD! There’s some tickets left for Glasgow tonight, I highly recommend going if you’re looking for something to do. Even if you don’t normally do classical music, you would be entertained. It’s the music from the Old Spice Advert. There’s some piano concerto in the first half by this incredible pianist, then Carmina in the second. Yes the composer was a massive Nazi but we can look past that! I'm going! by SaltedCaramelKlutz (Sat 9th Mar 2019 9:40am)

  • Can someone help me with our broadband? We have a stupidly laid out Victorian conversion and the broadband doesn’t reach the whole house. We have BT with booster discs but it’s not good enough ( eg to run the baby monitor) - it’s probably a combination of distance and stone walls. We have wifi plug sockets at as well. • Victoria park is nice but a bit on the smaller side- lots to look at. Tollcross park is nicer in summer when the roses are out. I like walking round the west end and looking in all the big windows! It’s also nice to walk down the Clydeside (park at the transport museum) on a sunny day but the wind can be biting. The children’s meadow on Clouston street is also nice for a stroll- it’s small but lots to see including bookbugs on a Friday and you can a nice coffee on Queen Margaret Drive and walk round to it. They’d be able to quote you prices in advance of booking. I’d be surprised if it was a month wait at either of them. [here](https://theconversation.com/can-people-vaccinated-against-covid-19-still-spread-the-coronavirus-161166) Cases are skyrocketing- in groups who aren't fully vaccinated. [here - about 2/3 of the way down](https://www.travellingtabby.com/scotland-coronavirus-tracker/) News today is reporting the small risk of vaccine side effects is vastly outweighed by the risk of complications from covid. [here](https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-58347434) I upvoted you but only so people will see my comment. by SaltedCaramelKlutz (Fri 27th Aug 2021 12:01pm)

  • The pollution pods at Gartnaval are worth a visit if you’re in the area. So horrible to imagine living in somewhere like Sao Paolo or New Delhi- the air quality is terrible. • I think everywhere is still doing this, it's a directive from the Scottish Government not a unilateral decision taken by GPs. Most places are a phone triage first then they can bring you down if necessary. Unfortunately demand is sky high at the moment so this is probably the way things will be for a while as it's much more efficient to deal with things over the phone if possible. by SaltedCaramelKlutz (Wed 17th Nov 2021 8:44pm)

  • Demand is nearly 50% higher than the same time last year. Massive delays in secondary care meaning patients are in a holding pattern at their practice. Complex mental health that takes a long time to unpick. People are living longer and developing multiple conditions that need managed concurrently. Some GPs have retired left or emigrated, and it’s more than the number coming through to replace them. GP isn’t attractive because of berating in the press. “Part time” GP is still 36 hours a week. by SaltedCaramelKlutz (Wed 24th Nov 2021 2:05am)

You might need a different mortgage if you want to rent out your flat. You might stretch your budget a little if it is your choice for your home... The bus is unreliable and might not have space for you if there is already someone in the designated space. Can’t take a pram on the subway. Could take a pram on the train but if you’re alone you are reliant on the kindness of strangers. Could use the sling but it is tiring and makes the baby too hot. Any other options I’ve missed? • Most consultants who do private work are NHS consultants too so you see the same person M just a bit faster. And a woman leaving B&M with a shopping bag full of stuff she’d just walked out with. Shop staff pretty much powerless to do anything. Police dgaf. • Paging Glasgow Live. by SaltedCaramelKlutz (Thu 28th Sep 2023 9:05am)
  • There isn’t a whole separate private healthcare service- there are specific mostly elective and outpatient based private options but there are certain things that don’t work very well eg maternity care or any acute/emergency care including A&E. There are also significant waits for private services too - some worse than others obviously. Most doctors who do private also do NHS but due to various issues including many people taking early retirement or emigrating or even just cutting back on their private practice requirements. It’s also very expensive and you will not always be able to get NHS prescriptions depending on who and what is recommending a treatment. Your insurance may exclude pre-existing conditions. If you have to get a private prescription that can be very expensive. For mental health issues it will depend on what you need but there are some good private counselling therapy or psychology options eg via the Tom Allen centre. by SaltedCaramelKlutz (Thu 28th Sep 2023 9:16pm)

  • Ultrasound isn’t very good for bones usually. Like I say, I’d definitely see a local podiatrist- you can self refer. I can’t comment on your gallbladder questions sorry- I’m on maternity leave and not up to speed with wait lists… they were very long when I was last working and I’m sure they will either be longer or shorter than they were. by SaltedCaramelKlutz (Wed 6th Dec 2023 10:38pm)
