  • Here’s something to mention to the city councillors next week: The good people of Glasgow will not be shamed into ‘volunteering’ to clean up the city for COP26 whilst simultaneously being told we don’t know how to recycle properly so our bin collection frequency is being reduced until we learn. Get the finger out. Collect refuse more often, empty park bins more often, so they don’t overflow and become an eyesore and rat attraction. If the council are struggling to find funding in the budget, if happily provide a consultancy service for a modest fee of a grand a day. by anotherbrckinTH3Wall (Sat 20th Mar 2021 10:19am)
  • I disagree. I’ve seen kids having a meltdown in supermarkets before, I don’t think: that’s a terrible child/parent not behaving. I think: I feel your pain fellow parent. Who knows why the child is misbehaving, perhaps they are a spoiled brat, perhaps they are autistic and are unsettled in the environment. Either way, I nod at the parent to show solidarity and understanding, then continue about my business so as not to cause additional embarrassment to the parent/child. • Go to work if you are fit and well enough. I recruit new employees every year, granted it’s permanent and not agency or contract. But if I get a sniff of that kind of behaviour, then I won’t hire the person. Some newly hired employees Leave without so much as a goodbye. It costs a lot of time and money to run job adverts, run interviews and train successful applicants. So if one leaves me in the lurch, there’s a massive financial burden as I have to spend it all again for the replacement employee. My customers are let down in the mean time, and eventually that cost needs to be borne by lowering wages for new starts or passing the cost onto customers. • Not my area of expertise. I think first you need to identify the type of damp. Is it rising damp, with tide marks coming from the floor up the wall? Is it condensation leading to black mild around the top of the wall/ceiling and on furniture near an external wall? Some treatments are simple enough like ensuring good airflow, dehumidifiers etc. Some are complex requiring membranes and chemical solutions. • I consider that this will be the most prominent Climate meeting (to date) and I am proud to have it in my city, and proud that we are yet again representing Scotland on the world stage. Given the freedom of movement sacrifices we all made during the pandemic, I fully intend to stay put during COP 26. I don’t want the hassle, so I’ll stay at home. I also consider this to be a great opportunity to attract investment into Scotland. I hope we can showcase some of the excellent and important climate ventures and innovations. Us Scots invented all the good stuff, we have a reputation worldwide as innovators, I hope we live up to expectations and get some serious agreements from some powerful people. by anotherbrckinTH3Wall (Fri 8th Oct 2021 5:45pm)

Once COP26 completes after its two week run, policing in Scotland will return to normal. • Perhaps I have been stuck inside watching too many episodes of crime watch or whatever. If it’s a bunch of folk kicking about stealing cars, then what’s the motivation? If it’s a quick joyride then burn, the police would probably have found it by now. If you are stealing for profit, then you are going to target valuable cars, like the evoque. You’re not gonna parade about in it, you’re gonna stash it and strip it or stash it and ship it. by anotherbrckinTH3Wall (Tue 16th Nov 2021 8:36pm)

You’re not to blame here. I’d hate for my kids to feel like this, and I’d want to know, so I could enact some change, so that my kids know that a parents love for their child is above all else. Have you thought about speaking with someone about it? Some people speak to strangers or ransoms on the net, some seek to share with close friends, we are all different. I personally saw a secondary age lassie walking from the train station picking out rubbish from her bag and throwing it onto the ground. I want to blame bad parenting, but it could just as easily be her choosing to litter, as opposed to not knowing the common courtesy of binning your rubbish.
