  • What clubs? by iThinkaLot1 (Fri 11th Jan 2019 5:09am)
  • If you like disco try Berkeley Suite, crowds always top notch and the bouncers are some of the nicest in the city, in my opinion. by iThinkaLot1 (Sun 3rd Mar 2019 2:48pm)
  • All ages, although on most nights it will have a crowd of people mainly in their twenties and thirties. Its across from Driftwood and the signs a Pawnbroker. More of an underground club but a true hidden gem. Nights range from house to reggae to disco. by iThinkaLot1 (Sun 3rd Mar 2019 3:11pm)
  • [Heres the Facebook page, just click events and it will tell you everything coming up](https://m.facebook.com/theberkeleysuite/). Since you like disco I’d say for upcoming events: DJ Deeon (15th March) and Fenix (this Friday). Also theres a Fleetwood Mac tribute night at the end of the month if thats your thing. Enjoy! by iThinkaLot1 (Sun 3rd Mar 2019 3:32pm)
  • Depends the DJ. Residents nights can be free before 12. Usually £8-10 on a standard night but you’d be paying the same for the shitehole that is the garage and you get a much better night out of it. by iThinkaLot1 (Mon 4th Mar 2019 9:00pm)
  • Reminds me of the trains in Copenhagen. by iThinkaLot1 (Thu 7th Mar 2019 9:53am)
  • It was free. by iThinkaLot1 (Tue 26th Mar 2019 1:07am)
  • I think Glasgow subreddit is actually good for taking a balanced approach to politics. The Scotland subreddit is mental how much they are against anything remotely anti SNP or independence. by iThinkaLot1 (Wed 17th Apr 2019 9:50am)
  • I like it like that. I don’t see why they have a ukpolitics sub when the actual uk sub is fulled with Brexit posts. Whats the point in having a country subreddit if its solely about the politics. Same with the Scotland subreddit but to a lesser extent. by iThinkaLot1 (Wed 17th Apr 2019 10:18am)
  • How’s he a wank? by iThinkaLot1 (Mon 6th May 2019 7:00pm)
  • Shame that the guy probably never knew how much of an impact he had on the people of the city. RIP. by iThinkaLot1 (Mon 24th Jun 2019 3:58pm)
  • Can you imagine if marches like this were allowed to go ahead and march by mosques or synagogues. There would be outrage and it would be banned immediately and rightly so. Why this is still allowed this day and age I’ll never know. by iThinkaLot1 (Wed 10th Jul 2019 1:18am)
  • That would work better if we had a transport system that could sustain the influx of people in the city. Its beyond a joke the state of it. At least run the trains and buses til later and keep the subway open. Last year was a mess with people waiting for taxis in town til the early hours of the morning. by iThinkaLot1 (Fri 12th Jul 2019 2:46pm)
  • Reminds me of the woman from Home Alone 2. by iThinkaLot1 (Tue 16th Jul 2019 6:41pm)
  • This is actually a [phenomenon](https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/amp.theguardian.com/cities/2017/may/12/blowing-wind-cities-poor-east-ends) that the east end of cities are generally poorer. One theory is that air pollution generally flows east (like in the picture). by iThinkaLot1 (Wed 24th Jul 2019 11:55pm)
  • This sub just like the uk sub is a lost cause. CasualUK is a good sub for UK related things that don’t end hp into a shitefest of politics. by iThinkaLot1 (Sat 3rd Aug 2019 2:18am)
  • So if your against independence that means you automatically “want England to look after us”? Would the same apply to the EU? The majority of Scots are idiots who want the EU to look after us? Of course it wouldn’t. Some people want to stay part of the UK for reasons other than “letting England look after us” and the same applies for Scotland wanting to remain part of the EU. The fact that you’ve been upvoted so much speaks volumes of this sub. The same applies for the unitedkingdom subreddit, rather ironically. by iThinkaLot1 (Sat 3rd Aug 2019 2:26am)
  • Technically if it wasn’t for the 13 Scottish Tory MPs voted into power they would ‘t have been elected. by iThinkaLot1 (Sat 3rd Aug 2019 1:38pm)
  • I wouldn’t necessarily say they are completely different but yes there is a difference in that Scotland as a member of the UK has less power than Scotland would have as a member of the EU. However that could change as the EU moves towards a “closer ever union” and the power of member states is reduced which is why a lot of people want to leave the EU (its not all about immigrants as it gets made out to be). The EU start as a great trading bloc but it has developed more and more into a political union which I don’t think anyone can argue with). On the note that Scotland and “England” are different politically and economically, yes there are differences, but not as much as a difference as any other European country. Also its important to note that the North of England and working class areas of the rest of England vote in line with Scotland. And those areas have more in common with say Glasgow than Glasgow does with a town in Aberdeenshire. In the 2017 general election, 28.6% of people voted Conservatives compared to 36.9% which voted SNP and 27.1% that voted Labour. That is as you can see not a substantial difference as the MP numbers would make out. And if we want to talk about arrogant of war mongering its important to note that France is currently spearheading the creation of a European Union Army and if you have any iota of current affairs you’ll know the French as just as every bit as arrogant and warmongering and right wing as the English and you seem to have no issue with being in a union with them. by iThinkaLot1 (Sat 3rd Aug 2019 1:51pm)
  • Why would he have been more widely known if European or American? Europe I can agree with because a lot of European countries place great emphasis on art but why America? by iThinkaLot1 (Mon 12th Aug 2019 7:09pm)

  • I’m the same. The platforms at some (most) subway stations are so narrow. I always stand at the stairs until the train comes. Saw too many videos of people getting pushed or falling for me to want to stand on a platform that narrow. by iThinkaLot1 (Thu 3rd Oct 2019 8:20pm)

  • Agree. Politics is just so depressing. There’s zero political figures (in my opinion) in British politics that inspire any hope or look like a genuine leader. by iThinkaLot1 (Fri 29th Nov 2019 2:30pm)
  • I said that to a mate, it tastes like Irn Bru I remind drinking in my grand when I was a wain. If that’s the case, they must have changed the recipe some point in the early 2000s. Probably a mixture of sugar and artificial sweeteners. Now it’s just pure aspartame pish. Fucking Barr man. by iThinkaLot1 (Wed 4th Dec 2019 1:26pm)
  • To be fair that’s the case for most U.K. political parties (the big ones at least). FPTP basically means that the big political parties are essentially pre election coalitions. For example with the SNP you have fairly leftist MPs such as Mhairi Black and fairly right leaning figures such as John Swinney. Same with Labour with the “Blairites” and the far left such as McDonnel. by iThinkaLot1 (Wed 11th Dec 2019 10:34am)
  • I see a lot of comments regarding the SNP’s transphobia. What is this about? There doesn’t seem to be much in the news or subreddits (and I frequent UKPolitics and Scotland). by iThinkaLot1 (Wed 11th Dec 2019 10:35am)
  • Which members of the SNP. I know the MSP for Glasgow Shettleston raging homophobic cunt. You know if any MPs are? by iThinkaLot1 (Wed 11th Dec 2019 10:41am)
  • I find this subs really good for having genuine discussion that doesn’t result in petty name calling. I’m glad politics stays out of this sub but since it’s a general election tomorrow I don’t mind having a wee discussion as a one off. Glad to see almost everyone being sound, wish other U.K. subreddits were like that (looking specifically at the Scotland and UnitedKingdom subreddits). by iThinkaLot1 (Wed 11th Dec 2019 10:45am)
  • I do feel that’s something the SNP need to address. It seems that they employ the tactic of your not loyal if you criticise the party and it comes across as rather authoritarian. The former leader [Jim Sillars has even spoken out against this.](https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/www.dailyrecord.co.uk/news/scottish-news/snp-stalwart-jim-sillars-campaign-7219127.amp). Saying “There is a tendency if anyone within the party criticises the leadership to be then described as being disloyal. I think that's a very unhealthy situation inside any democratic political party.” by iThinkaLot1 (Wed 11th Dec 2019 11:20am)
  • They will though. by iThinkaLot1 (Thu 12th Dec 2019 2:02pm)

  • No been in years but always remember the bouncers been wanks in there. by iThinkaLot1 (Wed 29th Jan 2020 12:30am)
  • Labour has been a joke in the council over the years but how are they to blame for this when the SNP run the government now? It’s pretty well known that the SNP government (Holyrood) have completely neglected council funding ever since they’ve came to power back in 2007. They have the power to scrap council tax and bring in a progressive tax and have promised to do so but we are still waiting. The last Holyrood budget wouldn’t have passed without Green support unless the SNP offered more funding to councils (and it’s still not enough). by iThinkaLot1 (Thu 30th Jan 2020 1:04pm)

  • If you looked at his nine principles of policing they’re actually a good thing for police to adhere to and I feel like even though we have our issues with police in this country, they are on the whole good and held accountable. Also the hammer and sickle is vile, name a communist police force that you would put in place of one of ours. by iThinkaLot1 (Sun 7th Jun 2020 8:52pm)
  • The definition of Communism is: a theory or system of social organization in which all property is owned by the community and each person contributes and receives according to their ability and needs. Where does that saw that a communism can’t include the state? Seems like your moving the goalposts. by iThinkaLot1 (Sun 7th Jun 2020 8:56pm)

  • Of course. When it was a Labour run council, it was Labours fault. Now that its SNP run its the unelected civil servants. They’re both as bad as each other, the SNP run council have the power to change this just like the Labour run council did before. If the council introduce a law, the civil servants, by law, have to implement it. by iThinkaLot1 (Thu 9th Jul 2020 8:21pm)

  • Actually they do. They get transported from the Atomic Weapons Establishment just north of London (where the warheads are created / maintained) to up here where they are stored near the hills in Faslane. I imagine when they’re transporting them up its during the night so doubt the trucks were what OP saw. by iThinkaLot1 (Fri 14th Aug 2020 12:18pm)
  • [This article describes how they move nuclear material in the UK](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Defence_Nuclear_Material_Transport_Operations). Its pretty extensive and no way OP saw this convoy. For example: Three organisations are involved in the convoy, namely Fleet Protection Group Royal Marines, AWE civilian personnel and the Special Escort Group.[3] Convoy vehicles include:- The Stand Off Escort – Royal Marines provide armed military personnel to counter any potential threat and the SEG’s role is the close escort (security) and traffic management throughout any convoy move. The Escort Commander's vehicle leads the convoy, navigating the routes and managing the timings by constantly being kept informed of traffic situations up ahead. The TCHDs, or Truck Cargo Heavy Duty vehicles which carry the nuclear weapons. There are up to five in a convoy. Each AWE driver is accompanied by an armed SEG officer as close escort. Fire Tender, with staff employed by AWE – the Convoy Safety Officer & Fire Crew Convoy Commander’s Vehicle, manned by MDP Chief Inspector and his team. The Traffic Car with two SEG police officers keep traffic behind by putting on a 'rolling block' whenever there is a traffic build up ahead or the convoy approaches hazards such as roundabouts or junctions. Two miles behind the main part of the Convoy there is a Support Element that includes a Convoy Support vehicle, a recovery vehicle and a coach. The AWE provides a Deputy Convoy Safety Officer who is responsible for this element. They travel up from the Atomic Weapons Establishment multiple times a year because the warheads have to constantly be refurbished. by iThinkaLot1 (Fri 14th Aug 2020 11:33pm)

  • That and r/unitedkingdom are amongst the worst subs on Reddit (barring far right shite). They allow zero alternative view points and its embarrassing that the two default subs for Scotland and the UK are filled with nothing but political shite. Gives the impression to foreign people wanting to visit that we’re all angry cunts who don’t tolerate different views. There are political alternatives to both so why are they both just filled way Brexit and independence shite. r/casualUK and r/askUK are decent for UK wide stuff. This subreddit for Scottish stuff. Be good to see a casual Scottish subreddit thats non political. by iThinkaLot1 (Mon 21st Sep 2020 4:25pm)

But shutting them for the next 3 weeks in conjunction with the Tier 4 would most likely do a lot in reducing transmission](https://fullfact.org/health/coronavirus-transmission-schools-claims/). When schools shut in March and over the summer cases dropped massively, and then picked up in August / September. Why? • The best thing to happen in May is they fall short of a majority so the Greens keep them on check with stuff like this. Preferably a complete overhaul of council tax rates which is [totally unfair](https://www.heraldscotland.com/news/18276046.time-rethink-unfair-unloved-council-tax/) and as you said suits the middle and upper classes more. by iThinkaLot1 (Fri 4th Dec 2020 9:58am)

If that is the case the Conservatives in the 2019 General Election in Scotland did get 28% of the vote compared to 42% in England. So its not that big of a difference (especially when you consider that there will be [voters within the other parties who are anti immigration](https://www.heraldscotland.com/news/17604452.polls-show-almost-half-of-scots-think-immigration-levels-too-high/). > with the kinds of anti-migrant marches in England we rarely see here There is less anti-migrant marches here because there is less migrants here. Other countries have taken the decision to allow any young person to have the jab now that the actual vulnerable people have been vaccinated. Don’t see how we can’t either. Especially with coming out of lockdown and opening venues that 20s and 30s are more likely to go to than over 40s. by iThinkaLot1 (Fri 14th May 2021 5:20pm)
  • > is already running on capacity How do you know that? by iThinkaLot1 (Fri 14th May 2021 9:06pm)

  • Maybe not voting for an authoritarian party who takes every chance they get to exercise their power beyond what is necessary? by iThinkaLot1 (Fri 21st May 2021 1:10pm)
  • No one party would have (and based on what the ones who are not in power have said) done it perfect. Tories fucked up with not shutting the borders. Labour and SNP would have fucked up by wanting to join the EU Procurement Scheme. Thats not my point. My point is Glasgow’s being singled out here and the SNP are yet again exercising their power when its not necessary. Deaths are down and have stayed down since the vaccinations have been up. There is no need for us to be staying in Level 3, especially if East Renfrewshire isn’t. But thats an affluent area though so thats probably why. by iThinkaLot1 (Fri 21st May 2021 1:30pm)
  • Because my point wasn’t about the overall response to COVID. It was about the SNP’s tendency for authoritarianism. I was just responding to your “not a chance” that another party would have handled it better. I don’t think Labour would have kept Glasgow in Level 3 or if they had would have then I think they would have moved East Renfrewshire up a level as well. by iThinkaLot1 (Fri 21st May 2021 2:35pm)

UK interests abroad can still be attacked without a foreign power thinking it will be a nuclear retaliation (see the Falklands). The Ukraine situation is an example that we can be at peace at one minute and the next minute the world is on the verge of war. The BBC didn’t give in and let him on. The result was his views were out in the open and the public could see how extreme and stupid his views were and the BNP who were rising in opinion polls collapsed (which might not have happened if they weren’t given a platform to show the public how stupid they were).
