  • Site feedback: • Having your burger menu at the bottom of the browser on mobile is probably not best practice. It could be covered with any cookie message that your site/squarespace have and for those of us (me) who rarely click them off it can be missed. My first thought when on the mobile view was "where the hell is the.. oh" • Your photos are a mixed bunch. Remove the photos of the sauce bottles & ingredients without context (or just remove the ingredients and have all bottles smaller in a single line (2x2 on mobile) and move the bottles with captions up higher along with the pictures of Marget and her story. Make it feel more homemade than corporate. The story is important. • Put some of your FAQ information (like the vegan and gluten free info) on the homepage, it's a big selling point as vegan and celiac diets are huge atm, show it off! For those who don't care they'll not notice it but it could be the difference between interest or no interest for those it affects. • Your instagram feed photographs (In my opinion) are much stronger, perhaps introduce an instagram feed and cut down on some of the bottle photos that look like stock images... save those for the shop page when it's time to get to business. • The batch production date is a nice touch on the shop. • Information on the shop page for the heat of each sauce would be great. I'm a wimp so anything above a medium heat is of no interest to me so tell me which are in my heat range rather than forcing me to click into each to find out/guess. • I wanna see Marget making them sauces (even if you mass produce, grab a camera and get Marget in the kitchen get that authentic home cooking look. Feel free to shut down my ideas but thought I'd give a few things to look at being a web designer myself. Feel free to ask if you need anything elaborated and excuse my awful writing... there's a reason I'm a designer and not a writer. Best of luck with the sauces! by jaymeleed (Thu 18th Apr 2019 2:06pm)

  • A bit late but in future... \- Only use Facebook Marketplace for local pick up. \- Never pay for things online unless its through something like Ebay/PayPal where you have some protection. \- When buying from someone check their profile, does it look legit? When does it say they joined facebook? If it's 2019 then thats a red flag to me. \- If you're selling, check the cash! I know it's awkward and you should be able to trust someone but check the right amount is there and that the money is real. Facebook Marketplace is an easy way to use fake notes that wouldn't be accepted elsewhere. by jaymeleed (Wed 8th May 2019 2:07pm)

  • For the most part I stick to cycle paths where possible, only roads I really use are 20mph limits and then when I have to use pedestrian paths I slow down to walking pace/use it as a regular kick scooter, especially the morning commute when kids are on their way to school. by jaymeleed (Thu 16th May 2019 8:28am)

  • I had a few more pieces in place before the move (got a job and my partner is Glaswegian so that helped). Despite what you expect there is a language barrier (I'm kidding) but sometimes I still don't know what some people with the thicker of accents are 'on aboot'. It's a nice little city and always something going on, although as others have said if you're staying in Renfrew your only choice of transport into the city will be by bus but at the cost of rent you'll be paying it's a no brainer to get yourself here. by jaymeleed (Mon 24th Jun 2019 12:26pm)

  • How about looking for a room rather than a flat for yourself? You'll be splitting bills etc. if you're not earning a lot all your utilities, council tax and personal bills will creep up on you. [Check out spareroom](https://www.spareroom.co.uk/flatshare/?search_id=835205335&) and you can usually find places on there in your budget that include all bills allowing you to budget more... if you don't fancy that long term at least you've got somewhere affordable to stay while you look for something else. the quality of flat will probably be higher too... more 'liveable'. by jaymeleed (Tue 2nd Jul 2019 12:26pm)

  • I live on a first floor tenement and everything was great until new people moved in upstairs and now I absolutely hate living there and I'm just waiting for something that comes on the market (luckily I'm renting) that fits the bill and I'll be out of there. They walk around flat footed and noise is expected but it's 1/2/3/4am on week days, I've spoke to them and their landlord but nothing has been done. I'd happily move into a top floor as I never hear a peep from below and even if it's a bit of background noise I don't mind it's the sound of stamping overhead while I'm trying to sleep I can't handle. by jaymeleed (Mon 8th Jul 2019 9:30am)
  • I'm way ahead of you! I bought the ear plugs about 3 months ago but I'm still woken by them pretty often as their thuds actually shake the flat and then once I've picked it up I just sit their while my bloody boils at how inconsiderate they are at that sort of hour and then I can't sleep anyway... I'd get up but I don't wanna be the person walking about at 4am for the person below me either! It's not so bad for me but my partner is in her final year as a student nurse so 12 hour days, not being paid and she's being woken up by upstairs, it's not fair. by jaymeleed (Mon 8th Jul 2019 9:36am)
  • I'd be interested, not the most gifted player but if you fancy a token Englishman to be the butt of jokes let me know by jaymeleed (Mon 8th Jul 2019 12:52pm)
  • I've got ear plugs, maybe they should be more considerate if their work hours are outside of the legal 'quiet hours' of 11pm and 7am. Ya tadger. by jaymeleed (Mon 15th Jul 2019 10:34am)
  • Their landlord said that we was going to have someone look at the floor but that was months ago and I've not heard anything since. by jaymeleed (Mon 15th Jul 2019 10:35am)
  • Sadly, no factor and no reply from the landlord recently. We will probably just end up moving which is a shame because I love the flat and the location is perfect for us but I can't continue to be woken up by them for my own sanity! by jaymeleed (Mon 15th Jul 2019 10:50am)
  • I'll do it just before I head to bed, that way when they lock me up for the night at least I'll get a quiet one. /s by jaymeleed (Mon 15th Jul 2019 1:50pm)
  • Any specific recommendations? I currently have some cheaper ones as well as one of those headbands that play music via bluetooth to try and drown it out and neither of them are working so I'm willing to try anything! by jaymeleed (Mon 15th Jul 2019 4:36pm)
  • I've stayed in many flats before and even this one for a year before they moved in without an issue, it's just the time of the noise and how long it goes on for that's the issue. I really don't care how much noise they make in the evening, they're heavy footed but 7pm? Go mad, have a tap dance for all I care... but after a certain time I make sure I'm making as minimal noise as I can and wish I'd get the same courtesy. by jaymeleed (Mon 15th Jul 2019 4:40pm)

  • Don't do it. I moved up from London 2 years ago, you'll be bullied every day of your life for being a dirty Englishman (person). They throw things at you as you walk down the streets and mock your accent constantly. Save yourself the bother and stay in London... Glasgows not bad, I wouldn't wanna do the commute between cities though. I'm lucky enough to have an 8 minute commute and that extra time for the gym or hobbies that you waste commuting really is a godsend. by jaymeleed (Thu 8th Aug 2019 5:15pm)

  • None! As long as you’re not being a tit and weaving in and out should be fine. I spend most of my time scooting on the cycle path then a little on paths (where the road is too bumpy and risks a puncture) and the rest on the road but that’s only a short while. I walk the scooter across traffic lights too. I’ve driven past police cars and those walking a patrol and never had an issue thus far. by jaymeleed (Tue 10th Sep 2019 5:30pm)

Last time I remember having them is putting them in my pocket before a run and then being let into the flat at the by someone else so I wouldn't have realised I'd lost them. My route is from The Hydro all the way up the Clyde to Glasgow Green, through the park then looping back around and along the Clyde on the other side back down to BBC Scotland. • I second this. My partner (Nurse at QEH) and I live much more central and buses are still her best bet at getting to work, they're... USUALLY... reliable but she has the odd complaint having to wait 40 minutes for a bus after a night shift sometimes and understandably so. We drive but parking for staff at the QEH is extortionate so that's why she doesn't drive. by jaymeleed (Thu 25th Jun 2020 10:41am)

  • Need an updated 'Now' photos. Cheapside Street is being used to house the trailers (and American style fire truck) for the filming of Bat Girl going on in the city. Source: My office overlooks Cheapside Street. in 2019 it also had a raid by the police for one of the biggest weed farms being housed on one of the corner buildings. by jaymeleed (Mon 13th Dec 2021 4:58pm)

  • I’m purely just guessing here but it must be a demand thing. Probably cheaper and more cost effective to close if there’s less demand after 4pm for most coffee shops. I know I can’t touch caffeine after 2/3pm or I will be awake all night so would never go to a coffee shop after that time unless my intention was to actually be up all night. by jaymeleed (Sat 2nd Apr 2022 10:38pm)

  • If you're looking for the 'safest' of areas in what is already a mostly safe city stick to the centre and out towards the west end because they'll be the busier areas with people around and therefore safest feeling. Southside is fine but walking from the city centre to the southside can be pretty dark & quiet depending on your route. by jaymeleed (Wed 6th Apr 2022 12:41pm)

  • Just out of curiosity when was the last time you did it? They’ve updated the buses for this route and they’re much more pleasant but still really not the ideal way of travelling. I missed a flight once and had no choice but to megabus a few years ago and it was just as you described by jaymeleed (Wed 4th May 2022 5:22pm)

  • I’m used to it. Means I can live in Yorkhill too and I love the area, I can walk 12 minutes to work too in the city so I have zero commuting costs and my rent is pretty cheap for the area especially for a two bed! by jaymeleed (Sat 21st May 2022 9:12pm)
  • My name being ‘Jay’ this was the biggest culture shock moving here from down south… I mean it’s not like people went around calling me “Jie” but when I first heard it I was caught off guard. by jaymeleed (Mon 23rd May 2022 5:15pm)
  • Unfortunately if new buyers are coming in to rent they’ll probably be in it for the moneys. OP says their landlord didn’t raise the rent in all the years they were there… it’s probably safe to say the new owners will. Landlords with a heart are rare. by jaymeleed (Sat 28th May 2022 5:08pm)
  • My comment was based off the point you said that they don’t have to leave. If the new owners are buying to live there then of course OP will have to move out. If the current landlord has given the correct notice prior to the sale then nothing the tenant can really do. Going off what OP has said nobody has done anything wrong they’re just struggling to find somewhere and are looking for advice on how to secure somewhere in what is an absolute state of a rental market at moment by jaymeleed (Sat 28th May 2022 5:54pm)
  • It’s not South as you asked but incase there’s anyone else that finds this post and is looking in the west end. Sandyford Street in Yorkhill next to SWG3 I pretty quiet most of the time and the hill is pretty steep especially towards the top! by jaymeleed (Sun 19th Jun 2022 10:30am)
  • Honestly, I never carry cash so unless it's added on the bill or I'm given the option when paying by card I never even have the opportunity to tip. by jaymeleed (Mon 27th Jun 2022 9:22am)
  • Currently paying £700 p/m rent (albeit Council Tax E) for a two bed in the West End, non tenement. Which is very reasonable and I was able to give up my car and get to work other ways so it works out for me. by jaymeleed (Wed 29th Jun 2022 9:59am)
  • Was at Green Day last night. Walked TO the show from Ibrox and took around 20/25 minutes but with a 11pm curfew and it was a slow crawl out of the park at the end. Walking from the gig to the West End (home) took 58 mins but would have been quicker than navigating a car out of the area. All surrounding roads were closed off so had crowds of people walking in the road too. Your best bets IMO would be walking for a bit and then catching a cab/bus in a quieter part of the city or honestly if you're not dead on your feet after the show then get a city bike once out of the hustle and bustle. If you want to catch the subway leave a little before the end to ensure you're there before the crowds pile in as you'll be hoping to catch one of the last subways of the night. Good luck! by jaymeleed (Thu 30th Jun 2022 2:28pm)
  • Put my car up on Facebook Market place. Nothing for 3 weeks and then two people wanted it at once. First to see it bought it. FB Marketplace is my go to because you can keep renewing and there’s no listing fees but gumtree you’ll be hidden in down the pages after a day or two and eBay/auto trader cost fees by jaymeleed (Sun 3rd Jul 2022 8:58pm)

  • Honestly I made a lot of friends here off the back of dating (not sure if you’re single or not). I’m pretty quick to figure out if someone is right for me or not so going in a few dates and realising that we’d be better friends has worked out. I’m still friends with a couple of them and some I’m better friends with their now partners and have a little group of friends with my new partner. Then you get to meet more people through them and it continues that way. The hardest part is putting yourself out there and being honest about situations. by jaymeleed (Thu 8th Sep 2022 10:10am)

  • I can just about afford to treat myself to a meal out every now and again as it is. With menu prices going up and the guilt of a tip added to the bill it's making it even more unaffordable to sustainably support local restaurants although they should be paying their staff a decently in the first place rather than relying on the generosity of their customers to top up their staffs wages. by jaymeleed (Wed 25th Jan 2023 11:34am)
  • I'd much prefer that for myself and for their staff. The staff will know how much they're earning for certain each shift without the mystery of whether or not they're going to get enough tips on certain days. I just don't think the responsibility should fall to the customer to keep a business afloat by paying a percentage of the staffs wage if the owner is trading beyond its means rather than cutting overheads elswhere. by jaymeleed (Wed 25th Jan 2023 12:57pm)

  • I went NHS and waited 18 months for a diagnoses. The reasons I didn't go private although hitting rock bottom during the wait were: \- If you go private you then cannot get a diagnoses later on via the NHS even if you aren't diagnosed \- If your diagnoses is private your medication will need to be paid for by you (It's free on NHS) by jaymeleed (Thu 23rd Mar 2023 1:14pm)

  • Just do what I do. Go in fully prepared to spend money then realise there’s nothing you actually need in that amount of volume, then continue to spend the rest of the time trying to get phone signal to check whether what you’re looking at is actually a good deal or not before giving up, queuing up for far too long for a slice of pizza then head over to Tesco to collect your Clubcard points. by jaymeleed (Thu 1st Jun 2023 10:07am)
  • If you want the easiest pick up then I’d suggest getting them to take the short walk to Charing Cross or Anderton and then they can either get 1/2 stops to Exhibition Centre/Partick both of which have places you can sit in your car and wait and not in the LEZ by jaymeleed (Thu 1st Jun 2023 1:00pm)
