  • There are no returns anymore, only an all day ticket. It's cheaper to get two singles if they charge you 1.75(ish) but if they charge you for the more expensive one of about 2.30(ish) it's cheaper to get the all day. It's a living nightmare and I've had bus drivers swear at me and call me stupid cause I never know what they want from me. by pictodex (Tue 21st Sep 2021 1:37pm)
  • Charity shops. It's just the electronics charity shops usually don't bother with. Although something like 95% of clothes from charity shops/thrift stores/whatever go to landfill or are sent to poorer countries in big bales (sounds like a good thing but it generally can't be used by people there/there's way more than they'd ever need) by pictodex (Sun 26th Sep 2021 9:54am)
  • Bawn textiles does it by pictodex (Wed 29th Sep 2021 10:49pm)
  • I live in cessnock! Admittedly I've never lived anywhere else in Glasgow but I quite like it. Midway to basically everywhere I want to go, good transport links, lots of local shops and parks close by. Rent's reasonable too. I wouldn't go out at night but I think that's small village to city fear more than it's a really dodgy area. by pictodex (Thu 30th Sep 2021 3:15pm)
  • Are you sure it's not recyclable cat litter? Don't know if it needs to go in a bag into the bin but it could be the cause of them ignoring you by pictodex (Wed 6th Oct 2021 4:07pm)
  • Yeah I just edited it by pictodex (Wed 6th Oct 2021 4:24pm)

  • If you live in a council outwith the Glasgow area the only thing that might change is that you have to give them a letter that proves you're a student (which is easy to get, I did it for my last course not in Glasgow and it was readily available on the student portal). You might not even have to though, either way you still won't have to pay it. by pictodex (Thu 14th Oct 2021 11:56am)
  • Last time I ordered a KFC it was estimated for like half an hour, then said it was 50 minutes after it had been picked up. 50 minutes go by and it switches back to "your order is being prepared" and it adds another hour to the estimate. Ended up with a cold meal that I was too pissed off to enjoy even after heating it up again in the microwave. by pictodex (Sun 17th Oct 2021 11:37am)
  • I worry about this too. My flat's had some really dodgy repairs/renovations done before I moved in and the bathroom is basically a converted cupboard. There's an intermittent leak that has a healthy patch of mold growing and the rest of the bathroom has spots of it too. The ceiling is a really poorly put in suspended ceiling (there's gaps all the way round) and I dread to think what's above it. I'm waiting to hear back if the housing association is going to do anything about it, fingers crossed. by pictodex (Sun 24th Oct 2021 3:36pm)
  • Clyde college has a hardship fund but it goes pretty fast and they would've needed to apply at the beginning of the term. This is the only one that's been advertised to my class but I'm guessing they have others. • Also well set up for Covid. Can try on as many as you like and I went to the finnieston one at a quiet time of day so they said if I want to see what they look like without the mask I can go into the other room and briefly pull it down to get a look in the mirror. Feels wrong putting the glasses on the table afterward for someone to clean up after you though haha. by pictodex (Fri 3rd Dec 2021 12:42am)
  • I mean it's important to know. You're putting stuff on your face that other people have put on their face, I'd want to know that it's been well sanitised in between. Also which glasses you choose is heavily swayed by mask wearing given that you can't really see how they look on your face with one. by pictodex (Fri 3rd Dec 2021 10:30pm)
  • What does that have to do with anything I just said? by pictodex (Sat 4th Dec 2021 12:28am)
  • A seamstress is definitely who you want. A tailor does handcrafted jackets, suits and trousers/maybe kilts and alters them but someone who sews should be able to do it easily for you. If you ask a few people with wee businesses they might be able to do it for you. by pictodex (Sun 5th Dec 2021 2:42pm)
  • Europaws and canine campus pet rescue are both based in Glasgow and don't have as strict garden/work rules as the sspca and dogs trust. You can find them on facebook by pictodex (Tue 14th Dec 2021 12:22am)
  • Yeah I saw they get quite a bit of hate online every now and but I didn't know how much weight to put behind it. Good to know though. by pictodex (Tue 14th Dec 2021 8:02am)
  • In addition to the other places here, John Lewis has a surprisingly large selection by pictodex (Wed 15th Dec 2021 3:52pm)
  • My rented flat has one above a fake fireplace that has lost the fake fire part and it does my head in. There's even a telly stand in front of the fake fireplace just to add insult to injury. by pictodex (Thu 16th Dec 2021 5:26pm)
  • It's mounted to the wall and I'm not allowed to change anything like that by pictodex (Fri 17th Dec 2021 1:19pm)
  • I've been fighting fleas for a year and a half so I feel your pain. I'm hesitant to say they're gone but at least my shins don't look mauled now! by pictodex (Mon 17th Jan 2022 8:28pm)
  • M&S outlet at the forge retail park too by pictodex (Wed 19th Jan 2022 12:05am)
  • A holiday season is any time when lots of people have time off by pictodex (Mon 24th Jan 2022 12:26am)
  • I mean I'm Scottish and refer to it as the holiday season. June, July, August is always the summer holidays and the others are "October holidays" or "Easter holidays" by pictodex (Mon 24th Jan 2022 12:34am)
  • I'd always love more fabric shops but it sounds a bit like you're describing bawn. Unless you decided to have a wider range of craft materials/leant less heavily into the sustainable angle. I usually use mandors or bawn. Mandors has a decent enough range at reasonable prices and bawn has really lovely fabric at a lot dearer cost. I don't really use the crafts section in Mandors though, I find all their yarn quite uninspiring and I don't like using acrylic. Something that hasn't really been done is using local fabric suppliers/textile artists for prints why I think could be really cool but might be a lot more expensive than people would be willing to pay. We're also limited by the climate here of what fibres can be local eg cotton isn't grown here. by pictodex (Fri 11th Feb 2022 8:23pm)
  • Home Economics too by pictodex (Fri 18th Feb 2022 8:19pm)
  • It's definitely on Google play, I have an android and have it downloaded by pictodex (Tue 8th Mar 2022 10:34pm)
  • I don't know if all shops do it but beware of stuff that's been sealed in bin bags if you do find somewhere to go. When I worked at the coop, everything getting thrown out at the end of the day (if none of the staff wanted it, depending on how lenient that shift's supervisor was) would be put into plastic bags but it's hard to tell why it was getting chucked. Could be that it's just past it's best before, could be that it was a smashed jar, could be that it was covered in maggots (a truly awful day...). Basically just approach anything, especially the stuff you can't see, with caution haha by pictodex (Tue 8th Mar 2022 10:43pm)
  • I would love a late night cafe so much. I don't drink and never have but would love something to do in the evenings with friends that isn't just watching them get pissed. Also the vibe of cafes is so much more relaxed than a pub or bar. by pictodex (Sun 27th Mar 2022 10:35am)
  • I'm waiting for their intro to D&D sessions to come round again! Beyond clueless about where to start with it and don't have a large enough friend group to just give it a go. They were super nice and informative when I messaged the Facebook page to ask about their D&D events by pictodex (Fri 8th Apr 2022 7:34pm)
  • I found out round about cessnock when I was walking the opposite way to them all trying to get home by pictodex (Fri 6th May 2022 4:05pm)
  • I used to work in a soap/bath product shop making stuff and even I can't go in there without getting a raging headache. Somehow always leave coughing as well. The lush spoof scents were always the worst to make because they were so overpowering compared to the rest. by pictodex (Fri 1st Jul 2022 10:20am)
  • Have you ever cycled on paisley road west? I just got a new job and if I cycled along it my commute would be 5 minutes shorter and a thousand times more dependable than the bus but cycling on proper roads gives me the fear. by pictodex (Sun 17th Jul 2022 10:41pm)
  • Thank you so much this is super helpful! I'll definitely make getting a bike a priority then. So far I've gone about on mostly cycle paths but I'll definitely need to learn to be more assertive on the road. by pictodex (Mon 18th Jul 2022 11:54am)
  • The cotton print factory has all the stuff you'll need for curtains and has lots of stock on sale! by pictodex (Mon 25th Jul 2022 10:55pm)

  • Yeah I was waiting at the gauze street stop. A 38 finally came after and hour and a half. by pictodex (Tue 23rd Aug 2022 7:43pm)
  • It's happened before at half five-half six which is why I'm so confused by it. Loads of commuters. by pictodex (Tue 23rd Aug 2022 8:28pm)
  • Also zero name recognition. Anyone asks where you got something and they'll say "etsy" by pictodex (Fri 26th Aug 2022 3:51pm)
  • By number do you mean the number they put on the letter? Thank you though! Was super worried I'd misunderstood and would be slapped with a £1000 fine by pictodex (Sun 28th Aug 2022 5:39pm)
  • Oh cool, so I should just ignore the time they told me to be there then? by pictodex (Sun 28th Aug 2022 5:38pm)
  • Ah cool thank you! I'll hunt down the number I was g8ven by pictodex (Sun 28th Aug 2022 6:08pm)
  • Nice one thank you! by pictodex (Sun 28th Aug 2022 6:08pm)
  • Ah excellent thank you! Puts my mind at ease, I was worrying about the letter saying "be here" and the phone saying don't be haha by pictodex (Sun 28th Aug 2022 7:33pm)
  • I've got the letter, just a case of rereading it by pictodex (Sun 28th Aug 2022 7:31pm)
  • I find that a lot of people don't know when a pavement is a shared pathway. I didn't until I started cycling and would get annoyed at people cycling on the pavement only to find out that it's actually shared. by pictodex (Wed 31st Aug 2022 6:01pm)
  • And open late! I'd kill for something like that, maybe with a wee craft section as well. by pictodex (Mon 5th Sep 2022 7:43pm)
  • The first bus app is useless. Buses on it that aren't there, buses not on it that are there. Mcgills is better in that I've never had a bus not turn up that was on it (although some have been out of service when they do) but they're just as bad for not running buses. Been left waiting to get home for over an hour multiple times when buses from first bus and mcgills are scheduled to show up every 10 minutes at least. Then like three turn up at once. by pictodex (Sat 10th Sep 2022 9:33pm)
  • What brightness is your phone at when you try to scan it? My coop one won't scan unless I press the qr code to max the brightness by pictodex (Sun 11th Sep 2022 11:44am)
  • Can get a bed sheet for cheaper from a charity shop by pictodex (Fri 30th Sep 2022 8:36am)
  • You can webchat them as well which I found faster than any other way of contacting them by pictodex (Sun 30th Oct 2022 9:53am)
  • So I can't remember exactly where I found it on the website (I've used it twice though so it does exist) but I think if you go to this page https://www.glasgow.gov.uk/index.aspx?articleid=26424 and then onto the council tax option, a pop up button will open on your browser when they're active. by pictodex (Sun 30th Oct 2022 3:24pm)
  • Just about had a heart attack cycling round potholes like these ones with coaches taking up half the road either side and cars coming towards me. Thought I was going to end up over the handlebars or a puddle on the street by pictodex (Wed 2nd Nov 2022 9:38pm)
  • Yeah I'd get fired if I took more than a day off here and there. Don't get sick pay either. by pictodex (Fri 18th Nov 2022 1:45pm)
  • The 7/7A is the worst for it! Had it happen to me three times in a few weeks of irregular use and the same for other people I know. No mention of it when you get on the bus, just shouted at to get off. by pictodex (Sun 18th Dec 2022 9:31am)
  • 3 is alright most of the time but sometimes it cuts out for no reason and there's a blackspot around the Paisley side of Cardonald. by pictodex (Tue 20th Dec 2022 1:20pm)
  • How else are you supposed to waste time on your phone? by pictodex (Sat 24th Dec 2022 5:34pm)
  • I'd love this! by pictodex (Wed 1st Feb 2023 11:08pm)
  • Maybe this is why mine don't feel like they're working too well. I like the style of them but they're limited in the type of face they go on and I wish they'd said that when I was looking at the frames. They're constantly halfway down my face and it does my head in. by pictodex (Thu 2nd Feb 2023 10:56am)
  • Paedophiles. MAP is what they call themselves to try and seem non threatening and insert themselves into the LGBT community. by pictodex (Sun 5th Feb 2023 7:33pm)
  • It's mostly an online thing as far as I can tell. I'm guessing people don't want to go out in person and admit they're attracted to children even if they're trying to normalise it. by pictodex (Sun 5th Feb 2023 7:37pm)
  • Not by public transport by pictodex (Wed 15th Feb 2023 7:28pm)
  • My class found this with all the strikes as well. Tutors weren't allowed to email to say classes were cancelled but the college would only put out generic "a strike is planned for this day, it's possible that your class might be cancelled" on social media, never any definite answers. It was super frustrating. by pictodex (Wed 15th Feb 2023 7:26pm)
  • I understand that and totally supported the tutors striking but it didn't make it any less frustrating. The tutors said the college should tell us and the college said the tutors should tell us. by pictodex (Wed 15th Feb 2023 7:46pm)
