  • Scopes are Fraser’s own manufactured suits. Scopes the company has allowed Fraser’s to use there name for there product. Previously it used to be New & Lingwood however they Canceled there partnership with Fraser’s for an unknown reason, I suspect they thought the cheap Fraser’s suits were devaluing there brand. Hence why they’re so cheap. Overall they are reasonable suits, you won’t get much wear out of them - but I guess I don’t get a lot of wear out of quality suits either due to my relentless raging alcoholism. by sinclairzx10 (Sat 20th Jul 2019 12:18am)

  • I was in this boat, I couldn’t get a hold of my dentist as I kept getting an answering machine every time. Eventually ended up in the dental hospital where they told me the couldn’t extract it because they couldn’t use a drill due to Covid and there being an inappropriate ventilation system in the hospital. Ended back at my dentist who sorted it out after the dental hospital called them to complain. I guess they had an emergency bat phone to my dentist. by sinclairzx10 (Sat 16th Jan 2021 2:26pm)
  • I used my de-humidifier a lot. It’s superb. I’ve not been sick in as long as I can remember since I started using it and for whatever reason my psoriatic arthritis is so, so much better since I started using it. • Pay the extra dude. Sushi Riot in Hyndland is amazing. It’s a total wee husband and wife startup and they are soooooo nice! It’s not cheap but, that said, it’s also way cheaper than other wanky places. The sushi is mind blowing, I want to say it seems so authentic but the closest I’ve got to Japan is watching Godzilla so I totally don’t know what the fuck I’m talking about tbh. • Walk out the airport and book a taxi with Renfrewshire taxi company. I’ve started doing this because I travel a lot and my *taxi* transport costs have almost halved. by sinclairzx10 (Fri 15th Apr 2022 3:19pm)
  • Just turn right out the exit and walk along the road for 5 minutes, you can get picked up at the first round-about or the BP garage. You’ll need to phone or use their app to get them to arrive but their base is only 2 minutes away. Uber doesn’t work, not that I’ve found. I’m assuming there is an ‘agreement’ that they won’t pick you up around the airport, this is pure conjecture though. My taxi which is usually £22 to Hyndland from the airport taxi scam is only like £13. by sinclairzx10 (Sat 16th Apr 2022 10:38am)

  • The whole system is on its arse. I just missed out travelling to something *really* important because I couldn’t get a fast track or same day passport with 3 weeks to spare. I even went down to the office to ask for advice and they asked me to politely bolt. I suspect I’ll be a combination of removing funding during Covid with our embarrassing new blue/black passports and I recently read the other day thousands of passports got lost by delivery companies. Overall bit of a mess, sorry to hear of your struggles. by sinclairzx10 (Wed 18th May 2022 8:56am)

  • So I workout at gym group off Byers road. It seems pretty popular but usually has 50-60 people in the gym max. If anyone is looking for a partner to do some scheduled and pre-planned workouts let me know. Gym coaches and personal trainers are wonderful things, but I’ve never seen value in them until your at your peak or hit a plateau. I’m 38. I had an injury that left me with almost total muscular atrophy in my left arm and shoulder five years ago and I’m now finally totally well and in a position to do some intensive workouts. Currently only benching 4x10 sets of 50-55kg dumbbell press as a frame of reference. Open to everyone. If your keen in having a semi regular gym buddy in the west end who’s not a fucken weirdo and want to set some goals together let me know. by sinclairzx10 (Sun 22nd May 2022 4:07pm)

They might just disable the warning light and fire enough sticky tape on it to get it over return policy. Seriously get it to fuck. Get a different motor. by sinclairzx10 (Fri 3rd Jun 2022 1:08pm)

  • They bought First Utility Broadband. Whoever that was. I’d look up reviews for that mob. Shell has been hoovering you financially burst businesses. I suspect it would have been shite, but probably just the billing and customer service etc, Shell certainly have enough cash to invest in fixing it. Either way, the broadband itself will be the same as everyone else. by sinclairzx10 (Sun 19th Jun 2022 11:38am)

  • Take this as subjective as you can. I’m not an expert but Ive got a fair bit of experience with tracking the markets. Housing prices are pretty much at their peak, no one truly knows this for sure but the economists are suggesting/suspecting central banks will orchestrate a housing market collapse to get inflation under control, people can’t spend what they can’t afford. They suspect housing pricing will decelerate by 2% over the next 12 months. If this is the peak, you’ll have landlords flooding the market with 30-40% over priced housing trying to get them sold at the crescendo of this free money madness. Evictions (some illegal) are everywhere as landlords try to get shot of assets that will now reduce in value. If you are renting, time is the only solution. If your selling, renting a place for £1100-£1200 a month following sale is going to be painful but is still a better solution than being trapped in an asset that’s reducing in value by more than that a month. If your trying to buy with no collateral and you now face a 6% Morguage your also fucked. Essentially a sharp change to the market is needed to get out of this stalemate and it’s tragic to read every day there are posts about housing associations on this sub. My heart breaks for anyone trying to get a house right now. There’s a reasonable chance buying now could lead you into negative equity within 1-5 years, depending the speed and depth of this recession. I wish you the best of luck my friend. The world needs more empathy right now. by sinclairzx10 (Sun 3rd Jul 2022 1:27pm)
  • One bedroom flat, two people, working from home, direct debit is just over £300 a month for gas and electric. If I put the gas heating on, my smart meter will hit £30 in a day. Heating off, I keep it contained. Answer to my power management is to switch everything off at the wall and never use gas. If I’m even a tiny bit tepid, it’s jumper time. by sinclairzx10 (Mon 4th Jul 2022 5:31pm)

  • You’re so right. But It’s way worse than that. Modern monitory policy has fucked us so badly that there are literally thousands of zombie companies that survive on cheap debt that should have went under a long time ago. It’s not just the small businesses that are going to get railed, it’s businesses from across the whole spectrum of the U.K. Private equality will dry up. The companies that produce glass can’t afford to operate due to the exorbitant fuel costs and 30% of the worlds wheat is locked behind a conflict that will drag on for years. Buckle up. It breaks my heart to be so pessimistic but we are going to have a really challenging time. by sinclairzx10 (Mon 8th Aug 2022 11:53pm)

  • “We did lots of this with investment from Social Investment Scotland but the cost of living crisis combined with new shops not being as busy as we had hoped means we are now in a very vulnerable position.” This is going to sound utterly horrific and I’m so sorry for saying it but crowdfunding for an unsupportable business model that’s already had support from social investment Scotland isn’t exactly ok. I mean your literally asking for people to pay for your debts due to an unfortunate ill timed expansion. In fairness it’s not as bad as when the sub club crowed funded at the start of the pandemic (remember that?) but at the end of the day this is a business. I’m so terribly sorry your all having to go though this. It can’t be easy. I hope demand for your business picks up. by sinclairzx10 (Fri 25th Nov 2022 7:03pm)

Overall about £1250. The NHS have accepted this and I now get my medication from my GP. • I work in a coffee shop pretty much every day. I could work from my house but I’ve been working from home for the last 4 years and it’s now intensely depressing. Also for people with ADHD coffee shops are such a godsend, having constant background distractions - allows me to focus. Yep, it’s totally bananas. My usual spots are, Tinderbox, Peckhams, Ronzio and cottiers: which gets an extra special mention because you can look at dogs while you work. Sometimes I have to fall back on Starbucks (don’t downvote me you monsters :p ) which either needs a facelift or nuked from orbit but if everywhere else is busy - which happens a lot - the upstairs floor is quiet and everyone is studying/working. by sinclairzx10 (Thu 5th Jan 2023 5:35pm)

To the people who I think they’ve got some special control over their dogs with voice commands, you are kidding yourself. You are not special. Your dog not on a lead introduces increased risk when other animals, children and adults are around. I mean fuck sake, I had an Uber eats deliver guy who was about 6’2” drop my food and run screaming down my close out the door because my 1ft tall Lhasa Apso managed to bolt out the front door when I opened it. Transpires he was terrified, *utterly terrified* of dogs. You might say, he’s in the wrong line of work, but that was 100% my fault. by sinclairzx10 (Sun 26th Mar 2023 12:14pm)

But the social, physical, financial and mental stress that it can put you though is just as debilitating as any other addiction. You can pay to get a private therapist or if you have private healthcare you can speak to a psychologist that might be able to support you. In all honesty your GP might be the first port of call, if you feel like that would be a challenging conversation, perhaps ask for a telephone appointment so you can feel a bit less vulnerable. Good luck, it will get better you just need to take that first step which by positing here it seems like you’re well on your way. by sinclairzx10 (Wed 28th Jun 2023 9:41pm)

  • None of these people mentioned at any layer of security whatsoever. It has nothing to do with that. What it does have to do with is people being paid just enough to survive and no more. Also invest met in technology, if that bus driver had the ability to press a button so that 2 police met the bus at the next stop (or more) so as not to disrupt passengers journeys then that would be another answer. But in summery… There’s no value for the bus company to do anything about it - only cost, monopoly and customers must use their service. There’s no value for the bus driver to do anything about it - only cost, paid peanuts and personal safety risk. There’s no value for the law abiding passengers to do anything about it - only cost, who’s getting stabbed by a 16 year old for a transitory inconvenience. • Where the 100 people providing more value than their cost? If they were made redundant you would suspect the answer was no. The assumption that because there’s remaining budget in another other area of the business that it’s enough reason to perpetuate an ineffective system is flawed. My heart breaks for anyone who’s been made redundant, it’s tragic. Unfortunately that’s just not how running a business works. by sinclairzx10 (Mon 23rd Oct 2023 7:55pm)

  • Yeah true, I’m not trying to be a dick but it’s the same system. Most public sector forced redundancies don’t happen because frankly we can’t afford to do them. Avoid the massive payout and keep them in employment until the next party has to deal with them…. or not as it is. In this instance the operation of the college might have been so poor that they’ve had to get their finances in order one way or another. Who knows, you’ll probably never find out. by sinclairzx10 (Mon 23rd Oct 2023 8:30pm)

  • Deliveroo is the way. Delivery much cheaper but as it tends to come by bike it can take a bit longer. Anyway, the economics of these food delivery platforms are totally fucked. We’ve all sleepwalked into a world where we think £6+ of service fees, delivery charges and the inflated food prices on these apps is fine. This model makes the platform owner incredibly wealthy, the restaurant margin continues to be eroded making the owner either less well off or by being forced to increase the scale of the business at a lower margin they’re increasing their risk, the delivery drivers get punished and most are just reselling their licence and having someone who can’t legally work deliver for them and at the end of this journey the consumer gets hit or miss experience, either hot or cold and expensive food. This “gig economy” isn’t a thing. It’s really the “platform economy” and we’ve created it by adopting Uber, justEat and every other platform you can think of. Unfortunately, we’ve fucked it. by sinclairzx10 (Tue 12th Dec 2023 1:34pm)
  • So a part of these platform models is this notion of ever increasing externalities.. I.e. more buyers equals more sellers and more sellers equals more buyers. It’s financially beneficial to them to be in it, but it’s nowhere near as profitable as what it would be to have that scale outside it. You are right, it’s still profitable but the margin for each transaction is so severely eroded, things like good customer service go out the window. The sad part is, if you’re a small food/fast food business and you’re not on the apps, you’re probably fucked. by sinclairzx10 (Tue 12th Dec 2023 4:09pm)
