  • You know what you need... a good old flat warming party, to make him appreciate what noise really is! Until then, ignore him and make sure your boyfriend is there to answer the door, next time you use your cross trainer. by sqrt4761 (Tue 8th Jan 2019 11:52am)
  • I forgot how much of a rabbit warren that building was. My old office is still standing on the right hand side of the building, but someone has left all the windows opened! by sqrt4761 (Tue 19th Feb 2019 10:34am)
  • Went to Fatboy Slim at the Hyrdo last night expecting the sesh, only to find it was the creche instead! The average aged seemed to be 16 and I definitely missed the dress code memo about short shorts, tees and white trainers... in the middle of February. by sqrt4761 (Thu 28th Feb 2019 9:32am)

  • I lasted 3 months driving from Glasgow to Leith every day for my first job out of uni. Mon-Fri, I didn't have a life aside from getting up, driving to the office, work, driving home from the office, eating dinner and then sleeping. Due to road works at the time, I was sometimes spending 5hrs a day in the car. By the time it got to Thurs/Fri, it wasn't uncommon to stop at Harthill on the way home, for a 30 min power nap. Weekends were spent catching up on sleep and looking for a new job after two months of doing that commute. I was living to work, rather than working to live. by sqrt4761 (Tue 9th Apr 2019 1:24pm)
  • Not sure about free ones, but they offered 2-4-1 deals on the days that Queen and The Killers played last year. by sqrt4761 (Wed 15th May 2019 3:24pm)
  • This popped up a few months ago. It's from the Calderwood Square in East Kilbride, down onto the Kingsway. Pretty sure it made the papers at the time. by sqrt4761 (Fri 7th Jun 2019 3:29pm)
  • If they wanted to really cause disruption, the four corners would have been a better spot to do it by sqrt4761 (Mon 15th Jul 2019 2:04pm)
  • Of course thunderstorms are forecast from 19:00 onwards, when I've decided to do my good deed and volunteer to help out/marshal at a 10km trail race at Whitelee Wind Farm tonight. This could be interesting! by sqrt4761 (Fri 19th Jul 2019 11:27am)
  • >I keep going past the poster for the new album/foundation up the top of town each morning and it gets me every-time. Where is the billboard? I've seen the one outside the Barrowlands, but Grant posted that they've put a bunch of them up around Glasgow. by sqrt4761 (Wed 7th Aug 2019 4:42pm)
  • Why don't they just cut to the chase and admit that they hate cars even more than Edinburgh City Council do! by sqrt4761 (Thu 15th Aug 2019 1:20pm)
  • Woke up bright and early, to give me plenty of time to get my drysuit, wellies and scuba gear ready for the Foo Fighters later! Looks like walking boots aren't even an option, judging by photos from The Cure last night. by sqrt4761 (Sat 17th Aug 2019 7:56am)
  • I'm digging out my tried and trusted festival wellies from Decathlon. by sqrt4761 (Sat 17th Aug 2019 8:23am)
  • Ran the Glasgow 10km yesterday, then went back to the start line to run the half marathon with some mates who'd never done it before. I'm already hating myself for not taking the day off today! by sqrt4761 (Mon 30th Sep 2019 6:57am)
  • I never realised there was a name for it, but I spotted a few folk on the half marathon course, with the 10km finisher t-shirt on too. by sqrt4761 (Mon 30th Sep 2019 9:33am)
  • 56:26 and 2:11:37. I was aiming for sub-60 for the 10km, to leave something in the tank for the half. And for the half it was just a case of getting the boys round the course for their first one. by sqrt4761 (Mon 30th Sep 2019 10:57am)
  • In terms of costume ideas, I'd patch that and go for a vest or t-shirt, with your two charities on it. The last thing you want is a fancy dress costume rubbing you for 42km! Even a vest or t-shirt rubbing you the wrong way over that sort of distance, can be a nightmare. by sqrt4761 (Mon 14th Oct 2019 1:48pm)
  • I find plasters tend to come off over that sort of distance (especially if you turn into a sweaty mess, like I do). BodyGlide is your friend! by sqrt4761 (Mon 14th Oct 2019 1:58pm)
  • I loved it, but I hate think what song they're going to get stuck in my head for Season 2, after using that bloody Spice Girls track this time around! by sqrt4761 (Thu 24th Oct 2019 2:43pm)
  • 100% this. I've been cutting around Copenhagen this week and it's embarrassing how far behind the UK is when it comes to provisions for active travel. Any set of stairs has a chanel to push your bike up, any train/metro has loads of space for bikes and average streets have a bike lane, then a lane to park in and a lane to drive down, separating the cyclists for the moving traffic. by sqrt4761 (Thu 7th Nov 2019 12:13pm)
  • I'll give you the flat as fuck part, but it's been pissing down for the last few days! by sqrt4761 (Thu 7th Nov 2019 9:16pm)

  • I usually park down in Whiteinch, on the street running parallel to Victoria Park. It's about 10 mins to walk up to the stadium, but it means you avoid all the traffic afterwards, as you're straight into the Expressway or double back through the tunnel. by sqrt4761 (Sat 30th Nov 2019 5:03pm)
  • Plus it's the Edinburgh vs Glasgow game at Murrayfield, so with the trains being off, it'll be carnage! by sqrt4761 (Mon 23rd Dec 2019 10:18am)
  • Have you manage to personally ruin someone's Christmas yet, by not having an item in stock on Christmas Eve? My Fiancee gets it all the time in her work and manages to give the right amount of sarcasm back to them, that they get even more ragin' about it, without being able to complain. She can't wait until Boxing Day, when she'll be accused of ruining multiple Christmas days, due to broken items or issues that have absolutely nothing to do with the store they were bought from. Joy to the World and all that! by sqrt4761 (Tue 24th Dec 2019 12:50pm)
  • Had a sober one last night, so I'm not hangin' at my folks for Steak Pie later... but instead I've woken up loaded with the cold. Serves me right for trying to be sensible! by sqrt4761 (Wed 1st Jan 2020 8:23am)

  • I reckon Rage Against the Machine will being playing at Summer Sessions. The Foo Fighters headlined Reading/Leeds last August and played Summer Sessions the week before. I'd be surprised if DF Concerts haven't lined up something similar this year. by sqrt4761 (Fri 14th Feb 2020 2:00pm)
  • Those dates are all late June, which then runs into TRNSMT a couple of weeks later. I wouldn't be surprised if DF took the complete piss and tried to run a set of Glasgow Green gigs mid-late August too. by sqrt4761 (Mon 17th Feb 2020 12:36pm)
  • >Do you have evidence of that though? I dropped off/picked up storage boxes at West and Vita, for a few students from down south last summer. God knows why you'd pay the money they're asking for the rooms in those places. They're shoeboxes! by sqrt4761 (Thu 20th Feb 2020 2:06pm)
  • I have a week old daughter in one of the neo-natal units at the moment and I'm absolutely shitting it about passing on an infection to her (covid-19 or otherwise). The staff are on the ball about visitors scrubbing their hands/arms, as soon as they enter the room, but that still doesn't eliminate the risk. At least its restricted access, so no one can walk in and steal the soap and hand sanitiser. by sqrt4761 (Tue 10th Mar 2020 10:52pm)
  • That's what we're latching onto and hoping it doesn't have any impact on her or the other wee ones in the unit. by sqrt4761 (Thu 12th Mar 2020 4:40pm)
  • Some selfish arsehole decided that he had to see his baby in the Neonatal unit at Wishaw, regardless of the fact he was coughing and spluttering everywhere. He was "fine" and he "wanted to see his wain!" The staff jumped on it and moved the entire family into a separate room as a precaution, before testing him. The result came back yesterday... as positive! Now all of the other families (including myself) have been kicked out. Instead of having one unlimited visit each day, we're only getting an allocated hour with our baby, to keep everyone separate. I've got no issues with the way the hospital have responded to it, but its probably for the best that none of the other parents will get to bump into the guy again. Covid-19 would be the least of his worries. I just can't get my head around why someone would be so selfish and not only put their baby at risk, but all the other babies in the unit too. by sqrt4761 (Thu 26th Mar 2020 10:10am)
  • They ended up raising £154k, after their bank told them they weren't a viable business. Thats a pretty huge "fuck you" to their bank. Hopefully they'll be shifting banks, when all this is over. by sqrt4761 (Fri 3rd Apr 2020 12:03pm)
  • We have a baby in Wishaw Hospital at the moment and over the weekend they changed the protocols, making member of staff (and the parents who are still allowed to visit for an hour a day) wear masks regardless of where they are in the hospital. I imagine if they were really running low, then the non-covid parts of the hospital wouldn't be getting masks dished out. by sqrt4761 (Mon 6th Apr 2020 10:43am)
  • The most annoying thing about the trend for disposable gloves, is the amount of them you see discarded in supermarket car parks and paths. Aye great, they've kept your hands safe during your shopping trip, but now someone else has to go round picking them up. Selfish arseholes! by sqrt4761 (Mon 6th Apr 2020 11:17am)
  • If they told folk 12 weeks of lockdown, people would freak out. However if they push this block out by another 3 weeks, then slowly start talking about the need for another 3 weeks after that and then another, then it's less daunting. The UK's beds required projections ([https://covid19.healthdata.org/united-kingdom](https://covid19.healthdata.org/united-kingdom)) are terrifying at the moment. Until those numbers start coming down, I can't see anything being lifted. by sqrt4761 (Thu 9th Apr 2020 5:19pm)

  • There is nothing commercial about it, so a PfCO isn't required. Take all the points from /u/phlobbit and throw in the photos being taking at 07:30 this morning, to mitigate the number of people around. It ticks all the boxes of the drone code, along with generally not being a dick about where/when you fly. by sqrt4761 (Sun 23rd Aug 2020 5:54pm)
  • I definitely missed a trick by not tagging it as that new flight sim game! It was dry first thing this morning, otherwise it would have been a no go for flying the drone in. by sqrt4761 (Sun 23rd Aug 2020 7:13pm)
  • That NOTAM has expired, but a few idiots got charged for breaching it when it was valid. Its always worth having a [quick look here](https://notaminfo.com/ukmap) before flying drones anywhere, to make sure there are no temporary restrictions in place. by sqrt4761 (Sun 23rd Aug 2020 8:19pm)
  • I used the original DJI Mavic. It's still a great little piece of kit. by sqrt4761 (Mon 24th Aug 2020 7:11am)
  • You'll probably find that its not a no fly zone. The [responsibility lies with you to listen out for helicopters and safely bring your drone down if one approaches](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HVJxeyEu7R8) (pretty much in the same way you'd pull your car over to let an ambulance past and then continue your journey). by sqrt4761 (Mon 24th Aug 2020 5:06pm)
  • The difference between North Lanarkshire and South Lanarkshire is ridiculous. You drive under the M74 between Hamilton/Motherwell and the grass goes from normal night to knee height! by sqrt4761 (Mon 31st Aug 2020 6:38am)

  • DJI Mini 2 by sqrt4761 (Fri 12th Feb 2021 9:11am)
  • The only time that's happened was at an organised fireworks display. I'd went through all the proper processes. Had permission from the organisers, had an area to take off/fly/land well away from the spectators, etc. Then as soon as it started, two other drones appeared and one of them was filming for the entire time, meaning its lights were off. I ended up abandoning the shoot, as I didn't have a clue where it was and didn't trust the other operators. by sqrt4761 (Fri 12th Feb 2021 2:18pm)
  • I was out for a long run at 5am. The mist and clouds were bliss... but it was still 18C already. by sqrt4761 (Thu 22nd Jul 2021 12:11pm)
  • We were shown the video, along with the cop talking about kids dropping bricks off railway bridges. As he was giving the talk, he had a pile of bricks on the desk and was constantly banging one. He then asked us how it would feel to have a brick thrown at us before launching one into everyone sat cross legged on the floor. It was a rubber foam brick that he'd picked up from the pile, instead of the real brick he'd been banging... but it made his point well! by sqrt4761 (Wed 28th Jul 2021 7:59am)

  • >http://www.mxdwn.co.uk/news/glasgow-welcomes-new-music-venue-to-open-2022/ And funnily enough, Hot Chip who were cancelled "with a heavy heart" at the last minute, were already lined up to play the new venue next summer. Bullshit! [https://www.playgroundofsound.co.uk/upcoming](https://www.playgroundofsound.co.uk/upcoming) The location of the new venue sounds crap. No public transport nearby and the M74 right beside it. I was tempted to get tickets to see Flaming Lips, but if its this lot behind it, I'll pass. by sqrt4761 (Wed 29th Sep 2021 9:40am)

  • I can't speak for Glasgow City Council, but I've worked on systems that generate letters for other Scottish councils. You typically get your bill at the end of March. If you don't make any payments you'll get a reminder (with 14 days to pay), then a final reminder (with 7 days) to pay, before it then moves to a summary warrant letter and at that point sheriff officers will get involved. I'd be asking for copies of those first four letters that they have sent you. by sqrt4761 (Fri 22nd Oct 2021 10:01am)
  • I said that to mates this morning when the news about her being in hospital came out. If she popped it the day before COP26 started, the media would be forced into days of protocol and reflection! All their plans would be out the window. by sqrt4761 (Fri 22nd Oct 2021 4:02pm)

  • The Flaming Lips posted something about it on their facebook page earlier in the month. I think they're being professional in their response, rather than saying they've found out the promoters are a shit show! However given the organisers and the new venue with the stage sitting 100 yds from the M74, I wasn't going anywhere near that gig. Hopefully they'll get hooked up with another promoter and get a gig arranged for the SWG3 yard or the Barrowlands. by sqrt4761 (Fri 26th Nov 2021 9:08am)

If anyone is happy to sell you a pup younger that 8 weeks or doesn't want to know a thing about you or the environment that their pup is going to, walk away. • This comment needs to be higher up. In every ticket update about the event the first item states that the lead booker needs to have ID with them and you've all got to go in as a group. *In order for tickets to be valid, on arrival at the show the lead booker must be able to provide all of the following items alongside their ticket(s):* *i) Photo ID (Driving licence, passport)* *ii) Booking confirmation email* His last concert at Hampden back in 2018 was the same, to try and crack down on scalpers, and the staff were all over the checks before you even got near to the turnstiles. by sqrt4761 (Mon 13th Jun 2022 8:22pm)

  • Having been there tonight, it was an "in the round" style gig, with a stage in the middle and speakers suspended high up, pointing in every direction. I reckon that's a factor in the gig sounding louder than "normal" gigs, with the stage on one side and the speakers pointing towards the opposite side. by sqrt4761 (Sat 18th Jun 2022 12:37am)
  • I had to nip into Dalmarnock last night and meant to take my drone to get some shots of the "venue". When you drive past it on the M74, there is no way its going to be ready for their next scheduled event on the 9th July. I'll see if I can do it later on tis evening. by sqrt4761 (Thu 23rd Jun 2022 3:30pm)
  • It looks like they've recently laid some sub-base across the site and flattened it, which is more than I was expecting to see. There are signs of work around what will be "The Garden" area thats due to host an event a week on Saturday. Could they get the smaller area up and running for the 9th July? Potentially. However at the minute, its still very much a carpark right beside the M74! Here is [a 360 pano of the entire site](https://roundme.com/tour/871663/view/2732368/), if anyone wants a proper look around it. by sqrt4761 (Thu 23rd Jun 2022 11:44pm)

You're not going to get any issues from the Park Rangers if you're summit camping. They're too busy down on the shoreline of the lochs. by sqrt4761 (Tue 5th Jul 2022 3:23pm)
  • They usually send four letters along the lines of... 1. Pay us the fine. 2. Pay us the fine, but it's now double. 3. If you don't pay us, we'll pass it to a Debt Collection agency 4. Debt Collection Agency (usually an off shoot of the Parking company) threaten to take you to court if you don't pay the double fine, plus their fees And then they stop. by sqrt4761 (Tue 5th Jul 2022 3:27pm)

  • For the exact reason you mentioned above. When it was T in the Park ticket numbers were falling back in the early 2010s, so they opened it up to unaccompanied 16-18 year olds and gained a whole new audience. The only issue was, some of them couldn't handle the sesh. Year after year folk were causing carnage in the campsite and people were being found dead in tents from overdoses. Two 17 years olds dying at the 2016 event was the final nail in the coffin. • The main difference between the two will be the Ferry to Arran. It'll be even more rammed than usual with the Highland Games on, to the point that they're likely to be turning foot passengers away. • It hasn't. I had one from Euro Carparks earlier on this year. You get the "fine" letter, then a doubling of the fine, then the threat to pass it to a debt collection agency, then a letter from the agency (who are an offshoot of the parking company) threatening to take you to court. If you don't respond to any of them, they move onto the next gullible victim. by sqrt4761 (Tue 23rd Aug 2022 10:20am)

  • They hadn't been paying any rent this year to Intu/Xsite, so they ended up in court over it. Intu supposedly have another operator lined up to take over, so I guess they just want them out now. HMRC are also chasing them for £1.2M tax bill and they owe £75k to their energy supplier (who was also taking them to court). Energy costs must be a killer for them, but the other two issues are entirely of their own making. The guy behind Snow Factor is a Grade-A Walloper and has been trying to pocket all of the cash from the business this year. The administrators caught him trying to transfer £450k to his other company Ice Factor, to put it out of the reach of creditors. • Unlike previous years, where you could fly drones 150m away from the TRNSMT site, there is an official no-fly zone in place for the next few days. Based on my experience with the police last year, while legally taking some photos, I imagine they'll be all over anyone trying to do it this year. by sqrt4761 (Fri 7th Jul 2023 9:59am)
  • It's 100% down to crowd safety and event security. I'm just surprised its taken so long for Police Scotland to put proper restrictions in place, when other festivals/police forces have been doing it for years. by sqrt4761 (Fri 7th Jul 2023 11:54am)
  • I think thats the main problem. The restrictions will automatically stop DJI drones from flying in the area, but you can guarantee someone is going to get lifted for flying an AliExpress one, that doesn't have any sort of geo-fencing on it. by sqrt4761 (Fri 7th Jul 2023 11:56am)

  • Strathclyde Park hosted the Triathlon. I wouldn't fancy going for a swim in it now, as they had to separate off a section of the loch and treated the water for months beforehand. However they have relaid most of the paths around the loch and stuck solar powered lights in over the last year or two. Aside from a few things on the wall inside the watersports centre, there is nothing to commemorate the games. by sqrt4761 (Thu 3rd Aug 2023 10:00pm)
