  • I deliver food in Glasgow, I wouldn’t call it protection, by 18:00 they had walled off George square and were dispersing crowds inside. And also I’d definitely wonder who the police are protecting rangers fans from? by FormerCup (Sun 16th May 2021 11:33am)
  • That’s more scotland ngl football hooliganism in London doesn’t usually involve shiting in the closes not even at a millwall game by FormerCup (Sun 16th May 2021 11:36am)
  • There are several acts of Parliament curbing football violence specifically in Scotland, the laws against it are extremely strong, it’s police Scotland that decided not to antagonise the protestors by FormerCup (Sun 16th May 2021 11:42am)
  • Don’t pretend this is just rangers fans kicking off, it will be the same story from you in a years time by FormerCup (Sun 16th May 2021 11:52am)
  • Better not to Stoke the flames of sectarianism tbh bc it will affect everyone regardless and it’s not so funny when there is bricks flying through your window by FormerCup (Sun 16th May 2021 11:50am)
  • Woah getting a bit too truthful for a spat between rangers and Celtic by FormerCup (Sun 16th May 2021 11:59am)
  • Just Scotland tbh no one else outside of Glasgow and NI gives a shit that you shit on your own streets by FormerCup (Sun 16th May 2021 12:06pm)
  • I’ve had death threats from Celtic fans and I don’t even like football, they just sat in George square, got drunk, sang some songs and fucked off, I really don’t see why you wouldn’t treat it like football hooliganism in any other town in this country. by FormerCup (Sun 16th May 2021 12:05pm)
  • See the thing is outside of glasgow or NI no one cares what rangers or celtic are doing but in the end the fact it keeps kicking off affects the rest of us by FormerCup (Sun 16th May 2021 12:13pm)
  • Yh exactly no one cares by FormerCup (Sun 16th May 2021 1:01pm)
  • Just always them two neither shut up by FormerCup (Sun 16th May 2021 1:01pm)
  • The fact you keep calling rangers “them” and Celtic “we” is telling enough, I think everyone has had enough of this shit by FormerCup (Mon 17th May 2021 11:39am)
  • Both Celtic and rangers are as dirty as each other, definitely as violent. Stop hiding overt hatred as some kind of pretend morality by FormerCup (Mon 17th May 2021 2:45pm)
  • The last riot in Scotland was a 1980 football match between Celtic and rangers, I’ve been threatened multiple times for having a London accent by Celtic fans. It may not be you but you certainly refuse to admit any wrongdoing of Celtic fans which is the first sign someone is too radical to be logical or empathetic about a situation, so on that note idc just shut up about it mr “you have no point” by FormerCup (Mon 17th May 2021 3:05pm)
  • I mean you keep telling me I have no point, I’m a child, you’ve never seen Celtic fans do this, all the rest. I just don’t care but it’s wrong to start shit along the sectarian lines you keep bringing up. I don’t think anyone else cares who hired the first Protestant or Catholic player by FormerCup (Mon 17th May 2021 7:10pm)
  • You cited that they didn’t hire a Catholic before 1980, 41 years ago, are you looking for a fight? Allow me to be clear, I don’t think anyone cares if you have a biased and shit opinion of rangers and a inflated and fallible opinion of Celtic. I’m sorry you really can’t understand but don’t start more sectarian or “they’re the real bigots” shite you are only going to make things worse and I don’t want another riot in Glasgow bc you nutters can’t handle football by FormerCup (Mon 17th May 2021 8:51pm)
  • I think you are missing the point 1) I am not analysing what you said and trying to find that you are wrong about who hired the first Catholic or Protestant, consequently this is why I said “I don’t care who signed the first Catholic or Protestant”. What I am trying to promote is an understand of how us/them mentalities and getting dug down about the technicalities of who is the real bigot or who started it or whose worse, can lead to further tension and violence between the groups respectively. Secondly you lead a response to my point detailing how you kept trying to start a “your the real bigot” argument, by calling me a bigot. As an anti-sectarian in London might say, could never be me by FormerCup (Tue 18th May 2021 9:12pm)
  • I mean neither do you and yet I’ve been threatened by Celtic fans and I’ve certainly seen them cause problems, I don’t need peer reviewed sources to state the obvious. And yet again you’re trying to dig down into who’s worse or who’s really to blame, I don’t know how you can’t see this by FormerCup (Wed 19th May 2021 4:16pm)
  • I’m not reading that, unfortunately you have to do more than just tell people they are wrong and don’t make sense, and then blame rangers again. The sooner you realise that the better by FormerCup (Wed 19th May 2021 8:46pm)
  • I’m an engineering student I’m not the smartest but I’m not uneducated either. But whatever floats your boat, I certainly didn’t say you were dim at any point, and for very good reason, it’s normally considered a cunt move. by FormerCup (Wed 19th May 2021 8:51pm)
  • Ahh the random person on Reddit is here to tell me I am stupid and act childish for not wanting sectarian violence, I think sun tzu said something like your last reply, how insightful by FormerCup (Wed 19th May 2021 10:15pm)
  • Yah bro I’m soo dumb, you’re probably smarter than me. Your intellect is astounding so large a mere student like myself would never understand by FormerCup (Wed 19th May 2021 11:10pm)
  • I’m sure you would, probably not many have said that to you by FormerCup (Thu 20th May 2021 10:56am)

  • I think it's pretty middle class, I delivered food there and people are comfortable leaving their kids in alone but in general Glasgow isn't anywhere near as stabby as people think it mainly has social problems than crime problems anyway by FormerCup (Sat 14th May 2022 9:49am)
  • I'm not suprised tbh but this is what it's like alcohol and social problems are things Glasgow has alot of by FormerCup (Sat 14th May 2022 11:14pm)

  • It's a bit of a mental pantomime to say that and you know it, celtic and rangers fans are so inanely similar they even celebrate the same way by FormerCup (Sun 15th May 2022 8:20am)
  • This is simply not true lmfao, and your little comment about sectarian attitudes is 3xactly the same here they sing songs and wave republican flags, litter and throw bottles and climb on top of shit they shouldn't, it is literally the exact same by FormerCup (Sun 15th May 2022 9:31am)
  • It literally is entirely comparable it is almost the exact same I don't know how you cannot see that it's the same people, same behaviour for the same reasons. It's not like rangers fans are a different species so if you put the same people in the same conditions they will act the same way, the sooner you can admit that the sooner we all will be able to put an end to this kind of thing and move past sectarianism in general. It does ultimately start with stopping blaming the other side first and understanding they're not so different by FormerCup (Sun 15th May 2022 11:10am)

  • You're actually a spaz, they had to pull a guy off the monument in George Square bc he was so drunk and got into a fight with someone, many people have been arrested and Scotland realistically wasn't in that heavy a lockdown at the time. Just admit the only reason you don't like rangers is because of who they are. by FormerCup (Sun 15th May 2022 8:56pm)
  • You will likely be fine most people overplay the extent to which it is a problem, the only time you are really ever likely to encounter problems is if you are in an argument in a pub on a match day. I'm English and I used to deliver food around the celtic stadium and literally no one really cares, even rangers fans just look confused when I say I support Tottenham. I think likely the only problem is because for some reason entirely Scottish celtic fans decide to fly the Irish republican flag, but no one not into football I have ever met had had any problems by FormerCup (Tue 17th May 2022 5:01pm)
  • Terrorism act is very large suspicion of anything from fundraising to promoting a registered terror group can land you in custody without charge for two weeks not just actual terrorism lmao by FormerCup (Tue 24th May 2022 12:14pm)
  • Yeah it's absolutely not allowed but from personal experience I know Glasgow police are exceptionally corrupt, and I've overheard glasgow officers talking about cheating tests on firearms law which is deeply concerning by FormerCup (Tue 24th May 2022 12:16pm)

  • There's a fish factory in Baillieston that take minimum wage people with no experience so there's plenty of good jobs, in places like this aswell there's usually options to get training for forklift or ppd if you're reliable. And long term I'd move out of Glasgow it's a shit hole as we all know so working in Aberdeen or Edinburgh or even cheap fast growing cities like Manchester a bit further away could be good, alot of the time moving out can help you get a fresh start by FormerCup (Tue 21st Jun 2022 3:30pm)
  • Edinburgh or Aberdeen, seriously tho the glaswegian job market is pretty trash nationwide, I usually do total jobs but it's mostly for industry stuff like warehousing and most goods either go through Cambuslang or euro central so if you can get to either of those then it's great by FormerCup (Tue 21st Jun 2022 3:47pm)

  • If cars has to share the road with trains like the good old days we wouldn't have this problem by FormerCup (Tue 26th Jul 2022 4:05pm)
  • Glasgow is a bit deprived and in the grand scheme of things quite small so it isn't desirable to move into apart from for cheap office space. There isn't much metro systems and it remains to be a bit separated from other major population centres in the UK like Birmingham and Manchester which it could sell to. by FormerCup (Mon 1st Aug 2022 10:34am)
  • Glasgow has a serious drinking problem that isn't represented in other cities in similar economic situations I think that just needs to be accepted lmao. Main market for glaswegians is services to the rural ish North of England and Southern Scotland otherwise I dont see how any big business can thrive here. Especially since the largest business probably in Glasgow is the tennents brewery by FormerCup (Mon 1st Aug 2022 10:17pm)
  • It's probably jsut few people who drive their fancy car alot and also public sector workers getting London pay for Glasgow rents by FormerCup (Wed 3rd Aug 2022 3:19pm)
  • 90% mortgage isn't happening lmfao, but you are right on singletude, being in a couple is much more efficient by FormerCup (Wed 3rd Aug 2022 3:24pm)

  • The help to buy in Scotland only helps people for low property values, it's capped at like 100k for Glasgow for a 3 bed or something so that only buys you something a bit further out but slowly many areas of glasgow are improving by FormerCup (Wed 3rd Aug 2022 3:28pm)

  • You'd be suprised the advantage of being smart and eloquent rather than being smart and nerdy. by FormerCup (Wed 3rd Aug 2022 3:25pm)
  • Tbf ik it sucks and I hear boomers talking about having takeaways instead to save up cash as if I'm even having takeaways, but using a hot water bottle and learning to cook do lower your living costs a bit, and the other tip for saving up cash is to put it in a ISA which RBS do and could help your cash beat inflation a bit. by FormerCup (Wed 3rd Aug 2022 3:31pm)
  • Tbf I, in part, enjoy casting baseless aspersions on the Internet, but generally civil servants in Glasgow earn pay determined to be justified by costs that get experienced in a country wide average or a London average, which means generally they earn more than their keep. by FormerCup (Wed 3rd Aug 2022 6:18pm)
  • I think this is what partly promotes alot of part time jobs is Glasgow but I could be very wrong, I've got family who used to work in both London and Glasgow and they said its natural for pay rates in private sector to be less if living costs are less but not so much in the public sector by FormerCup (Wed 3rd Aug 2022 6:21pm)
  • also in fairness, the costs of maintenance on a landlord are much higher than that of a home owner, a landlord needs to certify their gas and electric and often needs insurance to buy the property, in addition to the fact the rates for borrowing money in property investing are more expensive than that of those living in the home Edit: I don't wanna come across as dismissive, you do make a very good point that people buying a home should defos be aware of. by FormerCup (Wed 3rd Aug 2022 6:30pm)
  • Glasgow is one of the few places in the entire country where a cut in housing benefit doesn't lead to a significant rise in homelessness, and i took that off a website for Glasgow social issues, so its definitely fair to say the costs are no where near and the pay definitely doesn't drop as far as that. I see people saying a house in glasgow costs 4x income usually, thats unheard of in london. If you can't accept that you will only be one of a large stack of public sector workers who think they are worth much much more than they could ever earn in the private sector that I and many others have encountered. by FormerCup (Wed 3rd Aug 2022 6:39pm)
  • I will admit, they do exist, but they are capped and every day the bank hits hte cap for 90% and 95% they are allowed to give so its maybe not the best strategy for those looking a house if they want to be certain yk. I was just trying to be realistic, I don't mean to come across as dismissive by FormerCup (Wed 3rd Aug 2022 6:36pm)
  • Yeah tbf this is it, one thing I noticed is despite recession shop rents rise not fall which is probably half the reason we can never get the economy going again. by FormerCup (Sun 7th Aug 2022 12:09pm)
  • If you got sold it you are either entitled to compensation for the sale bc of promises made about the product prior to sale or this guy is just a nobhead. Legally aswell if the product didn't have the desired response based on promises or descriptions given before the sale, the seller is required to negotiate either a reduced price or full refund depending. Its called the "right to reject" under British law. I know all this bc as an English student I paid 30k so far to get sent YouTube videos instead of actual teaching at university. by FormerCup (Sun 7th Aug 2022 6:03pm)
  • Undeniably yes by FormerCup (Mon 8th Aug 2022 10:44am)
  • Alotta people are seemingly confused it is definitely my fault dw by FormerCup (Mon 8th Aug 2022 10:43am)
  • Because I have to pay lmfao, I dont get sass. I am pissy about the fact Im in 30k debt during covid so I looked into taking my university to court. But simply put if they said the thing they sold does something, and it doesn't so something they are required to either refund or trade it for something else ezpz by FormerCup (Mon 8th Aug 2022 10:43am)
  • in all honestly people go to chains too often, I think theres a coffee stand in queen street station but idk if they do any good food by FormerCup (Mon 8th Aug 2022 5:09pm)
  • I think it's a bit batshit many people going from places in east glasgow to Central for a night out board a train that came from Edinburgh, I feel generally Glasgows trains could do with some investment by FormerCup (Wed 10th Aug 2022 10:59pm)

  • I can see townhead from here by FormerCup (Thu 11th Aug 2022 1:09pm)
  • Man write this down and we'll take it 5o the next open council meeting lmao. I actually agree with most of this, I don't think council run busses is smart however I would at most use a public private. The motorway could possibly be gotten rid of all together or stripped down but it provides a barrier to business in city centre and west end. I think glasgow needs to do a few things to improve tbh for tourists and business. 1)control drinking culture and severely dial it down 2) really get under control of litter and other things people leave ie vomit and junkie detritus 3)improve subway 4) crunch down on the massive 6 lane 1 way roads that exist in the city centre for some reason and replace it with 2/1 Lane. 5) redevelop the immediate southside and improve transport links south by FormerCup (Thu 11th Aug 2022 1:17pm)
  • People really blag so much and claim Scotland is much better than it is for this stuff and then when you tell them they sorta go "sorry thst happened but I find it hard to believe" by FormerCup (Fri 12th Aug 2022 4:14pm)
  • The NHS is in a deeply sorry state and for some reason its still the holy cow of the country that you can't criticise or hold accountable. I would take them to court personally by FormerCup (Fri 12th Aug 2022 4:12pm)

  • Sorry bud UoG gains none of my sympathies, strathclyde forever! Avoid dennistoun and townhead at all costs, 8 moved out south side and its p good, I'm in Kinning Park atm and its actually really nice community and less dirty than what I could get North, as a South londoners aswell something just feels good about being on the correct side of a river by FormerCup (Sun 14th Aug 2022 3:16pm)
  • Well idk if its practical to fine them bc it's difficult to target I think a flat bill on all households for the cost of street cleaning would do the trick tbh, but also I've considered buying my own litter picker at points by FormerCup (Sun 14th Aug 2022 3:24pm)
  • Yeah tbf if the council could hand out flat notices that would be epic by FormerCup (Sun 14th Aug 2022 3:28pm)
  • Yeah tbf, I was thinking about 5his recently alot because I think the state of public streets really affects prosperity and the standard of living, especially for those who live in a flat and rely on green spaces. To have moved in from London and have people tell me it's not safe to walk in the park barefoot was the line for me, even just to play football it crushes the opportunity lots of kids have to enjoy themselves by FormerCup (Sun 14th Aug 2022 3:35pm)
  • Yeah you're definitely right, for definite I've never seen people with such disregard for their surroundings but it's definitely a few people by FormerCup (Sun 14th Aug 2022 4:11pm)
  • I don't mind if ita through a red with a green man tbh, but realistically cyclists don't follow the same laws as cars do much like pedestrians do on the road. And speaking from experience most people are not good at driving around cyclists and actively cause alot of danger so cycling infrastructure is definitely a necessity and realistically taking one lane off a busy road for cyclists means it can move much higher volume of people bc cars take up so much space for so few people. by FormerCup (Wed 17th Aug 2022 11:42am)
  • How do you think people feel getting stuck behind lorries for ages lmao by FormerCup (Wed 17th Aug 2022 11:47am)
  • In fairness when so few people take up such large space in the road, the whole "why are they making cycle lanes when theres traffic jams" gets old very quick as if other people are incapable of riding a bike. More over most of us have had a near death experience if we've cycled often for a period so the bitching gets annoying by FormerCup (Wed 17th Aug 2022 11:45am)

  • Or stop increasing demand for housing with huge population increases due to immigration. by FormerCup (Wed 24th Aug 2022 10:01am)
  • Unfortunately I have to inform everyone of something, the fact that it costs more to buy things does not guarantee your employer can afford to pay your more and does not mean you deserve more money. People (maybe not bin men but certainly train drivers and some public sector staff) complaining that the rich are taking advantage and the working classes need more all whilst earning 50k a year (which happens to be more than most Glasgow households in their entirety) is absolutely ridiculous especially when considering that the people they are forcing to pay more are also earning less than half they are. Ik cost of living sucks and its something that's been neglected for a long time with fresh nuclear plants or diversity of renewables being very poor. But if we go down this route it won't be long before we are being called the sick man of europe again. Sorry If this is word salad a bit. by FormerCup (Wed 24th Aug 2022 9:59am)
  • Breh momento Edit: Every 3 years the population of the UK increases by a million this is obviously unsustainable but for the redditor it's just too troubling to consider this by FormerCup (Wed 24th Aug 2022 10:36am)
  • The native UK population is decreasing, the 1 million 3 yearly increase is entirely due to immigration and its called the Office for National Statistics not the daily mail It is in fact such a huge increase more people have immigrated to the UK in the last 25 years than the 10,000 years prior by FormerCup (Wed 24th Aug 2022 10:48am)
  • Yea but after the demand is actually lower, a 5% tax on empty properties like they have in Copenhagen should sort that. You can't force down the cost of housing if it actually costs that much because you'd be getting something for nothing kinda thing, but when the landlords have no excuse it will be much easier to sort out. by FormerCup (Wed 24th Aug 2022 2:41pm)
  • In answer to your question, because I'm on much less than you are and I'm surviving just fine. I don't see why wealth has to be redistributed, from reading what you said it seems you care more about hating rich people than about looking after the poor. Taking more from rich people won't work long term. by FormerCup (Thu 25th Aug 2022 7:59am)
  • Just admit you're a communist it's OK by FormerCup (Thu 25th Aug 2022 8:01am)
  • Not if they're being taxed lmao, it worked quite well in Denmark but you can't lower house prices with taxes past their natural point by FormerCup (Thu 25th Aug 2022 8:00am)
  • I'm not sure if you understand what I'm trying to tell you tbh, could you explain more specifically by FormerCup (Thu 25th Aug 2022 8:07am)
  • So can any business, tenant or worker. Supply and demand isn't made up bro Idon't know what to tell you. Something like a land value tax is designed to put landlords in a state of urgency like tenants it means they can't afford to hold properties off the market for long periods of time without doing anything with it. This improves the efficiency of the market and should reduce the rents as landlords lower their rents or sell up to avoid paying taxes on an empty property by FormerCup (Thu 25th Aug 2022 8:17am)
  • Lmao are you actually, primarily when I say this people are actually kinda just a touch past moderate leftwing by FormerCup (Thu 25th Aug 2022 8:33am)
  • Yeah ik that and not instantly but in time the british population including second generation immigrants is decreasing not increasing yk, so in theory rents should be going down not up. And no one is talking about, well some are but you can tell how they are, but most people only want to reduce immigration by a bit. Like 50% reduction in net migration would do wonders It's an issue that pisses me off alot tbh because its so forcefully skewed into this idea that to want lower immigration just a touch you must be a racist. by FormerCup (Thu 25th Aug 2022 9:00am)
  • I don't think you've understood or maybe not read it again idk maybe I'm not being clear. Net migration is still a thing even if the people born here are decreasing in number by FormerCup (Thu 25th Aug 2022 9:29am)

  • First thing to know about moving to Glasgow is that everyone things just about everything is rough and it sort of is but mostly it's deprivation and social issues than crime or anyone who's actually hard or scary. You'll likely be fine, in any area of glasgow there's drunk and violent people except possibly the West end. As an English man who also moved to glasgow forget the politics or football team bullshit as soon as they mention it just dissociate, they just want to pretend to be tough. If you have no interest in it they just go away. by FormerCup (Sun 28th Aug 2022 10:03pm)
  • Or you could be pro not shit management of the economy. The fact is we are poorer now that's just how it is, if we wanted to be richer we shouldn't have such a saturated housing market and dependency on oil and gas. The fact is if you add up all the average salaries of average people it comes to a very low amount against what the rich can produce, you would be talking about adding less than a percent on it at maximum. If you care about those nurses with kids and car, vouch for their pay rises not yours. And I'm sorry I have to inform you, but you aren't sacred just because you are a nurse as you are probably quickly going to realise bin men statistically save more lives than you do. by FormerCup (Sun 28th Aug 2022 10:13pm)
  • Fair but it's still probably overstated, most people up here don't know what it's actually like in England so kinda assume it's an easy life by FormerCup (Sun 28th Aug 2022 10:34pm)

  • In their defense I was informed at the meeting that the M8 is under the jurisdiction of transport Scotland and they are making effort to make pedestrian access better across it in any way they can. I think cycling down bus lanes helps a lot in places, the riverside bus lane for example, is a pretty good option if cycling lanes cant be built, particularly if its a separated bus lane instead of incessant markings on the road. I do know as well however that a cycle lane southside near bridge street subway fully spits you out straight onto a motorway junction so it could be better. by FormerCup (Tue 30th Aug 2022 2:25pm)
  • I find this strange but I suppose from a tourist standpoint it would be logical, I think alot of the rest of Scotland sees it as a Scotland vs the belt sometimes by FormerCup (Wed 31st Aug 2022 1:09pm)

I'd take it and yes the rental market really is thst fucked, years of people not being able to get on the housing ladder I think alot of glaswegians don't even consider buying a home. by FormerCup (Sun 11th Sep 2022 8:32am)

  • There's hostels, Glasgow isn't as car dependent as America, most people use the trains or bus, I know people studying in Glasgow who live in Giffnock, erskine, paisley and Bishop briggs, also worth looking into clydebank and southside is a good move. Its also worth noting the bus is free for under 25s I think in Scotland you just have to apply. by FormerCup (Sat 17th Sep 2022 8:50am)

  • Transport in Glasgow is pretty good, once you've got a job it will be infinitely easier and you can easily commute to the center relatively cheaply. I was looking the other day and I think it was only £10-20 daily commute travel costs as far out as Dumbarton so slightly further out inside Glasgow shouldn't be much of a problem. • I've been personally threatened several times because of how I sound and many people here have much of a victim complex and massive externalisation of their issues. Severe lack of civic pride aswell unless it's in antisocial behaviour, the littering, smashing of bottles, drunk and disoredly behaviour, aggression and violence simply for the sake of it all form a huge stain on what otherwise is a beautiful city. by FormerCup (Tue 29th Nov 2022 7:36pm)

  • As a student on £7k I'd simply like to respectfully disagree that your life is hard, and you can't save any money, I'm also on RUK fees so I'm in £45k of debt. Just grow the fuck up and sort the problem out for yourself before blaming the government. Something is wrong with you if you are eating through £150 quid each month, either you are fat as fuck or you can't cook. As for the heating bill, get a hot water bottle and a blanket, drink hot tea, get an electric heater so you can heat one room instead of many, draw the curtains, a 1-bedroom flat should not be that hard to heat. Curb your victim complex and get to it instead by FormerCup (Sun 11th Dec 2022 1:04pm)
  • It is up to our generation Rudi to fix the mistakes of those who came before, at any cost to ourselves. I won't be the generation that consumes what is left of the country, I want to be the generation that builds what is to come. by FormerCup (Sun 11th Dec 2022 1:09pm)
  • That first step is always tricky but people in Glasgow really underestimate the economic benefits of having a bird, and having lived here for a while it seems there are a high number of issues relating to broken homes, sometimes I do feel like things would get 100% better if the rate of healthy marriages simply increased Literally everyone's top priority should be getting one and keeping them happy, it brings down the cost of rent massively and then means you can buy a flat which is also hugely cheap in terms of running costs by FormerCup (Sun 11th Dec 2022 1:08pm)
  • I really hope this is sarcasm by FormerCup (Mon 12th Dec 2022 11:04pm)
  • maybe if you weren't such a victim it wouldn't be, maybe if tried to create anything of value you wouldn't feel like that. People constantly are eager for some revolution or radical changes that will come and solve everything for them, No one wants to accept that progress comes from consistency and relatively menial and often unimportant work. Currently Glasgow is in heavy decline primarily due to social neglect and alcohol/substance abuse, both are costing the taxpayer and businesses in their revenue stream mainly because no one wants to visit a cafe covered in junkies, litter and vomit. There are still high rates of unemployment in families with 25% of Glasgow households without any income. A third of Glasgow households also have one parent roughly, something that is damaging to children and almost entirely due neglect on the part of parents to behave like adults than impulsive children. It is a problem almost entirely within our control collectively, we simply won't sort it though. Possibly the best thing for most people in Glasgow is to get a job they find alright and a family they are willing to take care of and dial back on the drink and fast food in the meantime. by FormerCup (Mon 12th Dec 2022 11:12pm)
