  • The kelvin has an angling association that you can buy a permit from, either trout or salmon or both. I think it gets you access from the Clyde to right north of the city. Haven’t personally had one but was looking into it myself. They have a website. by Kinghig15 (Mon 6th Apr 2020 7:54pm)
  • That’s absolutely stunning! So unique looking for Scotland. If you don’t mind me asking what range did it sell in ? by Kinghig15 (Tue 5th May 2020 12:22am)
  • What about people with mobility issues or their carers ? Is it fair to make them rely on taxis, or public transport that is woefully under equipped for their needs ? by Kinghig15 (Thu 14th May 2020 2:24pm)
  • Slightly twisting my words and adding anecdotal evidence, all I’m saying is it’s one of the only main roads between Partick and great western road. Some people that can’t use public transport need to travel between these areas. Shutting it would only serve to gridlock bytes road, especially after its facelift whenever that happens. P.s, my grandmother has one leg, literally cannot use public transport because anything longer than a short walk on her crutches is too much. Needs her car. by Kinghig15 (Thu 14th May 2020 4:07pm)
  • If your going from Partick to great western aye. If it’s the reverse trip it depends what end of great western your coming from I suppose. If your coming from levin bridge you are quicker cutting across the park usually. I was lumping Partick and Yorkhill together, sorry by Kinghig15 (Thu 14th May 2020 7:34pm)
  • Aye, sorry if I came off as having a go I’m not trying to be a cunt. I do agree public transport needs majorly invested in. Sadly I think it’s going to become worse now due to reduced capacity rules and such that will be enforced for social distancing! by Kinghig15 (Thu 14th May 2020 7:30pm)
  • I was in the north side of the park near the subway and the inn deep (if that patch even counts as the park) , seen all the wee bams coming off the subway all afternoon, walked through the park on the way back to finneston and it looked like a festival. Seen the helicopters hovering over the park at about 6pm. Good laugh. by Kinghig15 (Fri 9th Oct 2020 12:43pm)
  • Tesco across from kelvingrove museum has a wee American corner at the end of the first aisle, might find something there by Kinghig15 (Tue 13th Oct 2020 9:45pm)

  • Takes me 25 min to Strathclyde business park leaving at 8. Half an hour back leaving at 5. And I live in Yorkhill for reference by Kinghig15 (Sun 8th Nov 2020 7:15pm)

  • Aye hasn’t caused me any significant problems because I’ve got the ability to pay, but if they are like this for all correspondence it could cause someone a world of problems. Also managed to lose my partners student exception application from October, which was good of them. I had the screenshot of it being submitted on the website too. As for the bins the wee old woman upstairs harassed them on a weekly basis. But by my count their is 3 blocks of flats and one house sharing a courtyard with the guts of 30 flats since one is all single ends. Their is about 12 green bins and 8 blue. Which if they stuck to their 8 day collection wouldn’t be bad. But the quickest I’ve seen them collect has been a two week gap. Been a problem since before the March lockdown, they just seem to use covid as a crutch for being shite now. Surely when everyone is at home all day eating every meal and shopping from Amazon the council recognise everyone is going to be producing more waste. by Kinghig15 (Tue 19th Jan 2021 4:03pm)

  • DELETED Problem is I’ve actually paid more than I owe for the rest of the year now, going to have to pray they actually keep their word on a refund. They lost my partners discount form, so I would say it probably is their duty to inform me of fees I’m not aware of. I take it your massively satisfied with the councils efforts around the city then? Or do you work for them? by Kinghig15 (Tue 19th Jan 2021 4:08pm)
  • My parents live in a three bedroom detached in a rural county in Scotland and they pay the same tax I do for a one bed flat give or take. Their council is widely regarded as shite there (probably the same as everywhere), but as you say atleast they manage to pick the bins up/grit the roads/send someone out to litterpick. The worst thing is the folk that moan saying it’s the people’s fault no the councils fault there is litter everywhere don’t see the mutant sized seagulls rattling into bin bags and spreading rubbish and the wind taking it down the street. Because the council hasn’t picked half the city’s bins up on time and folk are having to stack bags on top of already full bins. by Kinghig15 (Tue 19th Jan 2021 4:14pm)
  • I do realise the majority of council funding has to go to other things such as schooling. But I would say that sanitation is a pretty high priority for a cities council, unless they want to become a cesspit. It’s not a difficult thing to organise, and unfortunately if they’ve not got enough staff to do it they need to hire more! I don’t disagree that they don’t have good and helpful people working for them, but it’s not their fault it’s a systemic problem with the council that comes from incompetence in management. It’s a problem with most public bodies to a degree. But Glasgow seems to be on a completely different level. During the first lockdown they managed to not pick out bins up for 6 weeks, led to a massive increase in rats round the area. That’s just not providing service at that point. And I know their staff work from home, but by now they should have sorted out phones for them to open call lines again. Cisco phones can work from an internet connection, or failing that cheap mobile phones. I don’t like criticising but if you don’t draw attention to these problems you are telling them it’s ok to provide sub standard services. by Kinghig15 (Tue 19th Jan 2021 4:49pm)
  • Ah Christ! Looks like the multi story car park it is. Not too familiar driving on the riverside so it will be fun! Haha. Thanks a lot for letting me know! by Kinghig15 (Thu 18th Mar 2021 10:18pm)
  • Ah smashing that’s perfect! Thanks by Kinghig15 (Thu 18th Mar 2021 10:43pm)
  • Aye, if it was me I would walk it nae bother. But she has some mobility problems, and just worried that if she takes slightly poorly after the jab it might be a struggle for her to get all the way back. Hence the driving. by Kinghig15 (Fri 19th Mar 2021 8:58am)
  • To be fair i sympathise with her. But I live in a tenement and have to wipe the bathroom walls and ceiling down with a flat floor mop and some cilit bang every couple of months to keep on top of black mold. Partially my own fault for taking far too hot showers. But it is to be expected in a bathroom with high ceilings and nae extractor. I’m willing to bet if she bought a bottle of mold spray the worst of that would come off. Paint would probably be stained by this point but there would be no active mold left. And to be honest the space issues she is complaining about is the virtue of a small flat for 350 quid in the west end. The mice and holes in the walls are unacceptable though. I’d still take it over paying 750 quid for a marginally bigger flat in the west end though. by Kinghig15 (Tue 30th Mar 2021 8:25pm)
  • I must endorse cilit bang mold spray. Couple of quid in Poundland or wherever and all you have to do is wipe painted walls with a little bit, obviously spot test it first. Idgaf about the paint in my bathroom and lash it on and it hasn’t taken much of the paint off to be fair. EDIT: most mold sprays will have bleach in them, so use common sense don’t mix with acid based cleaners and gas yourself accidentally. by Kinghig15 (Tue 30th Mar 2021 9:58pm)

  • Not one to judge, but this situation reads very strangely and has many red flags. Also OP’s history is full of trying to buy/sell prescription drugs (not too sure if buying or selling didn’t look into it too hard). I’m not exactly Sherlock Holmes, but I don’t think it takes much to add one and one together. But seriously, if you are in trouble phone the police OP, it’s what they are there for. by Kinghig15 (Thu 8th Apr 2021 1:15pm)

  • I really can’t wait till this whole pandemic thing finishes. “Socialising” seems to become a bit more intertwined with negative connotations than I’d like. The curtain twitchers will be going mental when there’s no covid rules to justify themselves with. by Kinghig15 (Wed 9th Jun 2021 9:42am)
  • Aye I’m no arguing that, just making an observation on how socialising has been semi canned as a word by Kinghig15 (Wed 9th Jun 2021 10:01am)
  • Man, if you read my comment it’s just an observation on the use of the word socialising nowadays. Albeit it’s pretty off topic. by Kinghig15 (Wed 9th Jun 2021 1:46pm)
  • Further to this if you want to get the bus from the stena terminal it’s literally a ten minute walk from p and o through cairns tan, all pavements. by Kinghig15 (Mon 28th Jun 2021 10:59am)
  • Was gonna say, I went to cineworld in town last Friday and it definitely wasn’t closed when I was sitting munching on nachos like a fat bastard haha. by Kinghig15 (Wed 30th Jun 2021 2:41pm)
  • Finished my most recent search in may. I’d say multiple times a day, also be prepared to view at the drop of a hat. I was originally looking for a 1 bedroom, but actually found the difference between and really decent 1 bedroom and a decent two bedroom was usually less than 100 quid. Which made me go for a two bedroom. Dunno why that is, I suppose a lot of people must have split from their partners during lockdown haha! But yeah, got my last flat in January 2020 for 600 quid just near the kelvingrove museum. When I was looking this year any one bedroom of the same nice standard seemed to be around 700 to 800 and had about 7 people applying. Switched to looking for two bedrooms and got a decent one for under 800 in Hyndland, only two other people applied. Albeit it looked like a shit hole because the last people were manly bastards, the landlord took a month to clean and paint it and get it looking nice again. So I suppose a decent amount of luck involved by Kinghig15 (Mon 12th Jul 2021 1:12pm)
  • In my partner and I’s situation it definitely was. She’s using the spare room as a studio and it lets us have my parents/friends up for the weekend. Cousin in law is staying a couple of nights a week for 3 months for her nursing placement too. So I suppose it just depends what you need and can afford. Im working from home and most one bedrooms didn’t really have enough space for my set up. This flat has a big lounge so I can have a desk in there. by Kinghig15 (Mon 12th Jul 2021 1:18pm)
  • Every place I applied for I had a chance to view. Usually they got back to me within a day so yeah is assume they only do a day of viewings. Gumtree usually has a few gems in the rough too, just watch for bits that have been up for ages and scammers by Kinghig15 (Mon 12th Jul 2021 1:28pm)
  • I predominantly used Rightmove and just filled out the form on the flats page on the site. Usually they fit back to me within the day. by Kinghig15 (Mon 12th Jul 2021 1:33pm)
  • Aye that’s what I mean I think. Gives you a box for a message and your details. Usually I’d give a breif description of myself and what features I liked about the flat, trying to give off the best possible impression. I know it’s all shite like but have to play the game and act like the best person in the world or they will give it to someone else that does. by Kinghig15 (Mon 12th Jul 2021 1:41pm)
  • Lidl In Patrick regularly has a kilo box of them for under 2 quid. Comes the full wing, so you’ll have to separate them yourself if want them that way by Kinghig15 (Fri 23rd Jul 2021 9:44am)
  • Aye. Just tell them that you are here for like 2 years. Can’t hold you to anything contractually. You could theoretically pay your first months rent and hand in your months notice on the same day by Kinghig15 (Tue 10th Aug 2021 9:07pm)
  • There’s a bit just a few doors next to tantrum donuts in the west end, down from dukes pub. Used it a few times no complaints. Around 15 quid for a three piece if I remember correctly. by Kinghig15 (Mon 30th Aug 2021 12:14pm)
  • West end. Yeah hearing something plus some random banging which I assume is fireworks, grand fun… by Kinghig15 (Tue 19th Oct 2021 11:36pm)

  • Flew every week for 4 weeks there. Usually for a 7am flight. There’s only two queues open but usually took me less than half an hour to get through security. The queue for checking bags last Thursday was massive though. So long that my flight delayed itself half an hour to make sure everyone could get on. Something to do with a change in US covid control. by Kinghig15 (Mon 15th Nov 2021 10:56am)
  • Just reread. I’m usually on the 7am flight by Kinghig15 (Wed 17th Nov 2021 7:46pm)
  • Go all the time on that flight. Usually order an Uber at about 5.10am from the west end. Costs around 17 quid including the airport 4 quid fee they tack on by Kinghig15 (Wed 17th Nov 2021 7:45pm)
  • I agree with everyone above. I graduated in 2013 struggles to get a job and gave up to work a lifeguard in my hometown and hated it. Went back to uni at 27 to do a postgrad and got a job straight after graduation because I was seen as more mature than the competition. Love my career. All it took was a leap of faith. by Kinghig15 (Thu 25th Nov 2021 8:42am)
  • Yep 25 percent. by Kinghig15 (Fri 26th Nov 2021 1:04pm)
  • Unless of course you have bought a flat. Then just go with the best deal/speed for your area and avoid the company’s with shite customer service, *cough* Talktalk *cough* by Kinghig15 (Thu 2nd Dec 2021 8:57am)
  • Look and see in the flat if you’ve got an open reach style connection or virgin already installed. Depending on your landlord you may have to just go with what’s already installed, as they might not agree to get the other one out in the flat even if the building is serviced by it. If you’ve got an open reach connection you can pretty much go with any provider apart from virgin. Virgin connection is only for virgin. But if your landlord is fine with them drilling the walls for a new connection you could obviously go with anyone. by Kinghig15 (Thu 2nd Dec 2021 8:54am)
  • Usually Bt open reach and virgin can tell you if they e got a connection in the flat when you ring them by Kinghig15 (Thu 2nd Dec 2021 10:16am)
  • Get someone with a copy of the phone book to look them up and see if they have a publicly listed number. Might not take to kind to a cold call from you right enough. by Kinghig15 (Wed 19th Jan 2022 4:04pm)
  • Might be. Especially if it’s a more vintage copy, a lot of people in the older generation like to keep their phone number when moving house. I’d offer to help but haven’t seen a phone book in about 5 years by Kinghig15 (Wed 19th Jan 2022 4:41pm)
  • Agree 100 percent. My family mechanic is 100 mile away so only use him when I’m visiting the parents. Use Byers road the rest of the time and they’ve always been fair with me. Headlight side light went once and you need to take the wheel off to get at it, charged me a tenner including the bulb. by Kinghig15 (Fri 25th Mar 2022 10:16am)
  • Pretty sure ramen dayo on Ashton lane were advertising lunch and Japanese classes for all abilities. Might be worth going to to meet some like minded people. Ran by their owner who was a teacher in Japan for 12 years or something like that by Kinghig15 (Fri 15th Apr 2022 1:26pm)
  • Aye JD sport exclusive. They were doing the euro badged one very cheap last year, dunno if they will still have stock. Also Scotland supporters club members get an extra 15 percent off code to use if you know someone in it. by Kinghig15 (Tue 19th Apr 2022 9:52am)

  • Surely if you look 16 you’re grand. Bouncers won’t even look at young Scot cards for 18 plus because they’re “easy to fake” so I think they will just be judging cunts by their coupons, if you can’t prove you’re over 18 you won’t get a wristband to buy the bevy by Kinghig15 (Thu 18th Aug 2022 12:41am)

  • Love it by Kinghig15 (Fri 16th Sep 2022 12:00pm)
  • Aye, I agree. Got a pair of h and m jeans for 35 quid lasted 4 months before the seams started going. Went into Levi’s and got a pair of 501s on sale for 60 quid and they will last years. Wouldn’t pay 100 quid for Levi’s but they regularly have certain ranges on sale. by Kinghig15 (Sat 17th Sep 2022 10:58am)
  • I think Barclays atms are gaurenteed to put out English notes. There’s another one too but I can’t quite remember. by Kinghig15 (Tue 11th Oct 2022 9:46am)
  • Tbh it’s all down to how the previous owner kept it. I’ve got a 15 year old 3 series and apart from having to do the front brake disks and springs ( last year after it sitting doing nothing during that howling winter while the lockdown was on), it’s been great. Right enough I bought it in 2015 with 28k miles on it from the original owner that kept it in a garage. by Kinghig15 (Tue 18th Oct 2022 10:28am)
  • Lived on the west coast my whole life and it’s pretty standard for this time of year I would say. Actually the start of October was a lot drier and warmer than usual I would say. Past few years have been unusually dry in October though so perhaps that’s what you are noticing? by Kinghig15 (Mon 31st Oct 2022 8:28am)
  • Use autocad everyday. I agree with the YouTube comments. A lot of good content on it. For example, I wasn’t very proficient when I started my job, a couple of weeks practising YouTube tutorials greatly helped. by Kinghig15 (Thu 3rd Nov 2022 3:08pm)
  • Also to piggy back on this, there’s a guy on YouTube called “jmcad design” by far the best I’ve seen. He’s a teacher in America and used the up to date software. He also does beginners series that will show you how to dimension stuff, does it in a weekly project style format. Highly recommended from me, I recommend him to all the new grads by Kinghig15 (Fri 4th Nov 2022 10:07am)
  • I usually get an Uber from hyndland and it’s about 18 quid including the 4 quid drop off fee to the Airport. Can’t see it being much different from Patrick if not a bit cheaper so I would just do that to be safe. Edit: 4.95 plus the 9 quid for the express to the airport works out pretty much the same as an Uber. by Kinghig15 (Mon 5th Dec 2022 9:57am)
  • I’ll comment with my usually suggestion. Uber never lets me down and I do this trip one or two times a month. Usually about 18 quid from the west end. I suspect I’ll get downvoted though since everyone seems to hate taxis, whilst also moaning about the unreliability of public transport by Kinghig15 (Tue 6th Dec 2022 9:33am)
  • Correct me if I am wrong but bluebell matches used to be strike anywhere, unless they changed the recipe? You could buy them at any news agent, but as I said, I might be behind the times by Kinghig15 (Fri 30th Dec 2022 9:57am)
  • Walking across the junction of Highburgh road and hyndland street is worse I think. See a few folk get bumped by cars lashing off Highburgh road. by Kinghig15 (Wed 8th Feb 2023 12:52pm)
  • I was agreeing with you right up to the point you became an apologist for cyclists running red lights. I seen a cyclist on a small road bike clip an elderly woman at university avenue/byres road cross and cycle off. She had to be helped off the road and have an ambulance called. Suspected broken arm. At that age breaking a bone can serenely reduce life expectancy. Running red lights is endangering life no matter what vehicle. It’s one thing I fucking hate about this sub Reddit. All the cyclist lovers seem to forget that pedestrians have priority over all traffic. by Kinghig15 (Fri 10th Feb 2023 9:13am)
  • The Aragon in the west end has a ton of screens and two sky boxes, good chance they will have both on if someone asks for it. by Kinghig15 (Fri 17th Feb 2023 3:16pm)
  • Tbf I want to know where you are getting pints for 3 quid from? 2018?. Around 4 quid 4.50 is about standard for a Guinness. I do agree the top end of 5/6 is a piss take though. by Kinghig15 (Sun 2nd Apr 2023 11:54pm)

  • I think it was 30 quid when I was a fresher in 2009. Regardless if it’s an agreeable charge or not that’s held up well with inflation haha. But yeah pay it, you need the pass to get into both unions at nighttime during freshers week, if she doesn’t get it she’s at risk of being left out when her new pals go to the events. In terms of where it goes, I think it’s usually to pay for the bands, each union usually has a decent band playing each during the week. I think it was twin Atlantic at the qmu and an indi band, possibly the wombats at the guu when I was there. by Kinghig15 (Fri 1st Sep 2023 8:58am)
  • Just go to a pub, and buy more than one drink each if you are going to be ages. Wee food shops and coffee shops usually have limited space and work on the premises of a quick turn around of customers. by Kinghig15 (Wed 6th Sep 2023 8:37am)
  • From what I’ve seen on other social media it’s the entirety of hyndland/jordanhill/broomhill that’s been missed for the guts of two months. Ours are accessible from the road and only have cardboard in and haven’t been emptied. Reported it and nothings happened. by Kinghig15 (Fri 29th Sep 2023 10:31am)
