  • Unless you are unemployed, sick or rich, there is basically bugger all in Glasgow for metal working. I had a forge for a while but given there is zero market for handmade knives except for Sgian Dubh's for tourists it didn't last. You could ask at the Bullwood project if they have a corner you could rent. by MathanGeal (Mon 14th Dec 2020 6:05pm)
  • This guy is a fruit loop but as someone who lives in the constituency and goes into this area frequently, it is a hellhole. There have been multiple articles, court cases all about human trafficking in Govanhill. This isn't some right wing fantasy. Go look for yourselves, it's horrific what's happened to the area. I know some businesses down there and the constant theft and criminality is just crazy. I've personally had to drive off members of the Roma community trying to steal my property or raking through bins looking for mail for identity theft. I met several owners of property who bought years ago and now left with properties that they can't sell and can't afford to rent because the rent never gets paid and when they get the property back it's be stripped of anything of value. Go down on any school day and will see lots of school age children hanging around not in school. This is a crisis no matter what your view of this idiot is. by MathanGeal (Thu 17th Dec 2020 8:11am)
  • I could print it in resin for you but it depends how physically resistance you would need it to be. Resin is fairly strong but not quite ABS strong. by MathanGeal (Thu 17th Dec 2020 9:42am)

  • Depends how wealthy you are. If you have sufficient means Kilmalcom is the place to be. About the best private school in Scotland with access to good amenities and lovely countryside. If you are modest means, Cardonald in the Southside will give you good access to amenities and modest prices. Schools aren't great though. However, the Glasgow Gaelic School is a great option of you want to embed in a Scottish community. The SGG bus runs right through the area. Oh and of course welcome home. by MathanGeal (Wed 12th May 2021 10:55am)
  • You're welcome and don't worry about GP, that won't be an issue. It's a very simple process and the staff will explain everything you need to do. There are tons of adventures to be had. Amazing parks like Pollok Park, world class museums, masses of sports clubs/arts groups for everything your kids might get into. The highlands are 30 minutes away by car. Honestly if the weather was better it would be paradise on earth :D by MathanGeal (Wed 12th May 2021 1:16pm)

  • So how do you control immigration? by MathanGeal (Sat 15th May 2021 3:00pm)

  • Glasgow supports Islamic Jihad now? by MathanGeal (Mon 17th May 2021 5:59am)
  • What annoys me is that it is literally only two areas in Glasgow driving this lock down extension Pollokshields East and Pollokshields West. These same areas have very low vaccination rates and low social distancing compliance. We need a door to door vaccination system to plug this gap in the city and prevent another widespread outbreak. by MathanGeal (Mon 17th May 2021 9:46am)
  • Yeah I got my second Friday and they have massively scaled down the vaccination programme since my first time. I can't understand the reasoning for that. by MathanGeal (Mon 17th May 2021 9:57am)
  • Your duty to the safety of your community and family is more important than that. Muslims aren't required to uphold that principle if lives are at stake. For example eating haram food if the alternative is starvation. by MathanGeal (Mon 17th May 2021 10:09am)
  • I'm sorry bro, it was a valid point, don't know why you are being downvoted. I'm upvoting your comments because they are reasonable. by MathanGeal (Mon 17th May 2021 12:07pm)

  • They rescinded claim because they didn’t want the Palestinian’s either and they lacked the power to retake the land. by MathanGeal (Tue 18th May 2021 2:40am)
  • Yup so done with it. Fed up of the idiots of Glasgow, wrecking absolutely everything. I've lived here almost 50 years and I'm done. First chance I get I'm out of here. Never thought it would happen but after a year watching the selfishness of Glaswegians grow to fever pitch. I'm finally done. by MathanGeal (Tue 18th May 2021 6:35am)
  • The city is a dump. Just junkies and graffiti everywhere. Can't go to a park for hordes of drunken fools trashing the place. Had two Rangers fans launching fireworks at retired people's homes next to me. I went out to tell them to stop and they try to fight me. Can't get to my local green grocers because the idiots in a Covid hot spot decide to have a day long protest. Done. by MathanGeal (Tue 18th May 2021 8:52am)

  • Cops were at braehead and silverburn on the same day. Got the £200 fine at braehead then stupidly went to silverburn and got a £1000 fine for second breach. They ran her number plate and got her home address. by MathanGeal (Tue 18th May 2021 10:38am)
  • Aye. I'm an actual citizen of Scotland now locked in my city again because this community refuses both vaccination and social distancing. You wanna play Portland fine but the tax base are going to start leaving. Have fun with that. by MathanGeal (Tue 18th May 2021 11:20am)

  • Ok bit of a Guardian Long read there but here it goes. I was suddenly single at 34. Big shock. She got all the friends too. So here's what I did to build a new life. 1. First: Join a club. I was fencing. Soon I was an instructor and few years later my now wife walked through the door of the club. With swagger and cold steel on my hip she was hooked. 2. Work: Fake jovial carefree attitude and leave at 5.30 EVERY DAY. Unless they are paying you serious money, you go home every night and have a life. 3. Real friends are someone you can turn up with a body in your boot and they grab a shovel. You're only going to get one or two of them in a life time. Once you find them then you remain loyal and stay close as you can. 4. Love: Hunt your unicorn. Trust me they are out there but it's going to take luck and openness to get one home. DON'T SETTLE. My wife is everything I wish I knew I wanted when I was 20. 5. Be awesome. There is nothing more attractive to both men and women as awesomeness. Warrior Philosopher Artist Writer Hunter. The more awesome tales you can tell of life. The easier the clothes come off and the friendships grow deeper. See not that hard. Cuba is a disaster that people spent a lot of effect trying to escape. North Korea is a personality cult of nightmarish proportions. China only found economic success through adopting Crony-Capitalism. It seems you are desiring an escape from Freedom. It's common with young people today. • My god, does nobody read any more? **socialism** a political and economic theory of social organization which advocates that the means of production, distribution, and exchange should be owned or regulated by the community as a whole. **communism** a theory or system of social organization in which all property is owned by the community and each person contributes and receives according to their ability and needs. by MathanGeal (Mon 9th Aug 2021 4:56pm)
  • No look at the definition of the two. Socialism in it's true form wouldn't allow a private business. So as long as you allow free commerce to compete with socialised systems, it's a market economy. By your definition, Costco would be socialist. by MathanGeal (Mon 9th Aug 2021 5:00pm)

  • The bottom line is you are ultimately responsible for your own actions. Everyone knows the risks and the consequences of illegal narcotics use. You know your purchases support the cartels, slavery, forced prostitution and murder. You seem to believe that somehow there is a means of risk free narcotics use and there isn't. The damage to your body is severe and in many cases permanent. No drug treatment will be able to solve it. There isn't a magic solution available, you destroy your dopamine receptors, they are gone and your ability to feel pleasure in normal circumstances goes with it. We live in a free society. Our government has set a prohibition against certain narcotics because they believe there is no safe method of use. As a free person you have the right to ignore that prohibition but it's not society's job to try to mitigate the consequences of your actions. I'm sorry your life has gone to shit, but it's the life you chose. I totally respect your right to make that choice. However, I don't respect your attempt to deny your responsibility of your situation and try to make the government responsible. This isn't Portugal, we don't have the same family or social structure, so de-criminalisation won't have the same outcome. Unfortunately, this is the reality and there is no quick fixes or miracles. by MathanGeal (Sat 11th Sep 2021 6:57pm)

  • I've done lots of different DIY builds from furniture, computer controlled kilns, swords, to huts. Now wetsuits. TBH I've used only books and youTube. Not skimping on tools and proper planning is 50%. Where tradesmen come in is they can do in hours what takes me days or weeks. So your are saving abit money but you are losing a massive amount of time. I do it when I can't get what I actually want so I make it myself. by MathanGeal (Thu 16th Sep 2021 12:02pm)
  • Don't like it but they have a right to march. by MathanGeal (Thu 16th Sep 2021 4:35pm)
  • The incident with the priest is disgraceful but I doubt it would be sufficient to warrant a re-route order. It would also set a dangerous precedent that could be exploited to shut down other celebrations or protests. I completely understand your anger, I hate these marches too but I love freedom of expression more. by MathanGeal (Thu 16th Sep 2021 4:47pm)
  • Yeah, that's the things about freedom, you have to defend the arsehole's freedom too. by MathanGeal (Thu 16th Sep 2021 5:33pm)

  • Actually that’s exactly what means. by MathanGeal (Thu 16th Sep 2021 10:34pm)
  • Eh no, the right to marching and protests are enshrined in human rights legislation. It's called the right to peaceful assembly. You might not like the Orange order but that doesn't change their rights. by MathanGeal (Fri 17th Sep 2021 7:42am)
  • You mean like the Glasgow Pride parade? You'd want to see it banned too because most people aren't LGBT+. by MathanGeal (Fri 17th Sep 2021 12:58pm)

  • Because I'm neither Protestant or Catholic, so don't have a dog in this race. Doesn't mean I'm against people expressing their right to assembly. I'm not LGBT but I still support the right for the Pride march every year. by MathanGeal (Sat 18th Sep 2021 4:28pm)
  • It's not patter, it literally how citizenship works. by MathanGeal (Sat 18th Sep 2021 4:34pm)

  • Yes it does, they become Scottish. You don't remain Canadian once you give up your citizenship. Not mad but why stay if you hate it? You live in a free country, so if you don't like go find somewhere you actually like. by MathanGeal (Sat 18th Sep 2021 4:58pm)

  • How is freedom bootlicking, you are the bootlicker, you want to take away people's rights. by MathanGeal (Sat 18th Sep 2021 5:18pm)
  • You have to put up with it because that's the nature of a free society. This parade is sanctioned by the City council. It's not illegal and while annoying as hell, are you actually in danger? If this was a pride festival or a mardi gras would you feel the same about it? by MathanGeal (Sat 18th Sep 2021 5:38pm)
  • If you believe there isn't the equivalent bigotry on the Catholic side you are completely delusional. As someone who grew up atheist in the 1970s and went to a non-denominational school but most of my friends were Catholics. I listened to the hate from both sides. They are all bigots. All they both spread the exact same conspiracy theories about how the other side is out to get them. This bullshit persecution crap being spouted now is laughable. by MathanGeal (Sat 18th Sep 2021 5:48pm)

If you are young Glasgow is great but our age it's tough. by MathanGeal (Thu 7th Oct 2021 11:31am)

  • But you kids dying of starvation in the future is better? by MathanGeal (Thu 14th Oct 2021 6:41am)
  • Nope. Don't force them to violence unless they ask. You'll do more harm than good. You need to stop the bullying by harassing the school and education authority until they take action. I taught martial arts for years, my own kids weren't interested so I never forced them. by MathanGeal (Thu 14th Oct 2021 8:08am)
  • Fire trucks? What are you a 12 year old American? When you grow up and have a clue about what's actually happening in the world. I'll maybe take you seriously. by MathanGeal (Thu 14th Oct 2021 8:05am)
  • Why? by MathanGeal (Thu 14th Oct 2021 8:10am)
  • I've already done it, have been since I became an environmental scientist 25 year ago. Don't fly, don't take foreign holidays, eat locally, no central heating, thermally insulated home, no gas appliances. Don't buy new cars and repair them until it isn't possible. Oh and make own clothes now. So now what? by MathanGeal (Thu 14th Oct 2021 8:16am)
  • Ah so you really have no clue about our situation. Ok well it's no surprise you think this is important. by MathanGeal (Thu 14th Oct 2021 8:33am)
  • Yes without drastic action our civilization will collapse in the near future. We campaigned for decades with reason and nobody listened. You are listening now because it's annoying you. It proves that this is the only effective way. As for me, given it's a 14 hour wait for an ambulance these days. I wouldn't be calling one. The fact you think that you'll get an ambulance in minutes and seen by a doctor immediately shows how divorced from reality you are. You need to start learning that pretty soon nobody will be coming to rescue you. by MathanGeal (Thu 14th Oct 2021 8:52am)
  • It was for my neighbour 4 weeks ago and it was an emergency. Well then kick their teeth in, kill them. Do what ever you need to do but they are warning you of the future. Listen or don't listen. by MathanGeal (Thu 14th Oct 2021 9:10am)

  • Good bot by MathanGeal (Thu 14th Oct 2021 9:48am)
  • That's their aim. They want to be beaten. They are using the Gandhi method of protest. They aren't going to fight back. They want pictures of their bloody and beaten bodies on the nightly news. It's the only effect way to prick the British conscience. It's proper courage. by MathanGeal (Thu 14th Oct 2021 9:47am)
  • You don't understand the strategy and that's ok. I get it and I believe it will be effective in the long run, especially the more your mum spits venom. The alternative is going around blowing up shit to get what you want like the IRA did. I'd rather this strategy. by MathanGeal (Thu 14th Oct 2021 10:15am)
  • Well the Judges haven't been too keen jail environmental protestors. The problem is that peaceful protests with legitimate concerns are hard to prosecute. by MathanGeal (Thu 14th Oct 2021 11:07am)
  • Yeah, I didn't train to protect myself. I trained to control myself. I love fighting, I've trained with hundreds of people and it's really not for everyone. Honestly if you don't enjoy it, don't do it. Bullies aren't that fragile that one punch is going to end it. They'll likely just escalate the problem. There are real assholes out there. by MathanGeal (Thu 14th Oct 2021 11:58am)
  • And they'll go right back out and do it again. Just like Gandhi's people did. by MathanGeal (Thu 14th Oct 2021 12:01pm)

All these meet ups are able to happen because it's all organised on Insta, tiktok, etc. My kid is at this age and he knows so many people through meet ups in Kelvingrove and GOMA. The drill scene has sparked the gang resurgence too. It's cool to be a gangster again. by MathanGeal (Thu 21st Oct 2021 10:27am)

  • The traffic congestion has nothing to do with drive thrus though. It’s the hospital and the two motorways thar generates the daily traffic with added clusterfuck of ibrox. GCC refuses to deal with any of it. by MathanGeal (Fri 12th Nov 2021 6:13am)
  • I don't think it will make significant difference. PWR and Dumbreck road are nose to tail all the time anyway. Dumbreck community council and Dumbreck Matters have campaigned for 20 years on this subject and made zero progress. by MathanGeal (Fri 12th Nov 2021 7:04am)
  • You are suffering what we've all been suffering across the area. GCC doesn't care. The councillors have zero power. Nicola Sturgeon doesn't even bother to answer complaints from her own constituents on these issues. Just don't expect any help from the political parties. • Look we used to rent a flat, the new regulations forced us out the market. We didn't want to ramp up rents to stupid levels to fund the insane red tape. We just wanted to cover the mortgage with a bit extra to fund maintenance so we sold the flat and they turned it into air B&B. by MathanGeal (Fri 26th Nov 2021 12:57pm)
  • Also the electrical compliance regulations for renting is brutal now. We were looking at 5k to bring it up to spec even though there was nothing dangerous just out of spec. by MathanGeal (Fri 26th Nov 2021 3:48pm)

  • Seems needlessly inflexible but I understand because of the bean counters scrounging for every penny off of the people of Glasgow. The city is broke and I'm sure pressure is on for money to be extracted by the way of fines. Funny though you never see a traffic warden in Dumbreck extracting fines from the illegally parked Rangers fans. They would generate thousands every match, yet the council claims it's not cost effective. by MathanGeal (Thu 2nd Dec 2021 1:30pm)

  • Any dumbo who thinks cutting education funding is a sound fiscal position is an idiot beyond saving. You don’t know the first thing about public procurement and the rules in place. The most you’ve been responsible for is answering the phone. by MathanGeal (Thu 2nd Dec 2021 9:10pm)
  • You know I don’t have an answer. It takes hundreds of trained people to run this city. But sure some guy on the internet has the answer. Fuck I’m sure you’re smarter than all of us. Tell me what great contribution you making to world? by MathanGeal (Thu 2nd Dec 2021 9:35pm)
  • Dude you were answering the phone for track and trace and assumed you were smarter than everyone there too. So what have I done. Climate researcher. Written medical software used in operating theatres. Written software for lots of government bodies that makes peoples lives better. Fought in international martial arts tournaments. Technical consultant to a national artist. Blacksmith. Writer and working on my first screenplay. by MathanGeal (Thu 2nd Dec 2021 9:55pm)

  • You have a criminal record I assume. Not many countries will give residency to people with criminal records. by MathanGeal (Fri 3rd Dec 2021 10:05am)
  • Yes. I have family who couldn't emigrate because they had a relatively minor criminal record. Countries have the right to do that. by MathanGeal (Fri 3rd Dec 2021 1:34pm)
  • You wrote a fucking novella on this thread so have a silver from me for your efforts by MathanGeal (Fri 3rd Dec 2021 1:37pm)

  • Well I'm guessing here but I assume governments don't have time to sit down with your mates to determine if they are diamond geezers or not. by MathanGeal (Fri 3rd Dec 2021 2:21pm)
  • I don't see what any of this has to do with immigration policy? You saying foreign criminals should be offered residency in Scotland? Doubt that's going to be a vote winner. by MathanGeal (Fri 3rd Dec 2021 2:31pm)
  • Q: There's no context though, what defines actual criminality? A: You (would) have a criminal record I assume. I not talking about the poster but the definition of criminality. I've added would so you don't get your feeling hurt. The country doesn't need EU drivers. It needs to treat drivers better so people want to do the job. It's access to cheap labour pools that drove down wages and conditions in the first place. by MathanGeal (Fri 3rd Dec 2021 2:46pm)
  • This isn't about personal opinion, this is about government bureaucracy. It's simply not feasible to spend a month getting to know everyone who applies for residency in a country. You get into trouble in your own country, no other country needs to take the risk on you. It's a sensible position. by MathanGeal (Fri 3rd Dec 2021 2:57pm)
  • I'm not commenting on cases I have no knowledge of but pay for a good lawyer if you want better legal outcomes. Police don't determine convictions, juries do. I've served three times. Yes, I don't want the government to spend money on providing exceptions to foreign criminals gaining residency. It's just not worth the cost. by MathanGeal (Fri 3rd Dec 2021 3:18pm)

  • Law’s the law and the language is the language. I’ve learned several languages over the years. I stopped travelling so I don’t use them anymore so they rust. Never was offended at someone correcting my mistakes. by MathanGeal (Sun 5th Dec 2021 8:41am)
  • It's the same for car drivers. You are required to be constantly alert for potential hazards. That's the law. Bikes are vehicles and are required to do the same. Don't want to do it don't ride or drive. by MathanGeal (Sun 5th Dec 2021 9:08am)
  • Stop, Look and Listen. Yeah they need to teach that again but they don't so you need to be extra careful as a driver and rider. I do both and it's difficult but that's the game for vehicle travel. by MathanGeal (Sun 5th Dec 2021 9:34am)
  • Yes but that's not what he is complaining about. by MathanGeal (Sun 5th Dec 2021 9:32am)
  • No he's complaining about people walking on the cycle lane and refused to get off when he blows his air horn at them. In the UK cycles lanes are for use by pedestrians, joggers, dog walkers and cyclists. They have as much right to be there as him. by MathanGeal (Sun 5th Dec 2021 9:36am)
  • Doesn't exist here. All cycle lanes are mixed use by law at the moment. Petition the government if you want that changed. by MathanGeal (Sun 5th Dec 2021 9:43am)
  • There is no such thing as a road for bikes in this country. Don't like it take it up with ScotGov. by MathanGeal (Sun 5th Dec 2021 9:41am)

  • To provide more space for non-motorized traffic to move while socially distanced. I believe the GCC said at the time. by MathanGeal (Sun 5th Dec 2021 9:52am)
  • It sounds easy but actually very difficult. There is a level of complexity involved in managing the movement of 700,000 residents plus commuters. I've done some traffic modelling systems and it's a lot harder than you think. minor seeming changes can have major consequences. Pedestrians will always do the dumbest things that why the responsibility is put on to the vehicle operators. by MathanGeal (Sun 5th Dec 2021 10:29am)
  • That's why the law put the responsibility on the person using the fast moving lethal vehicle. by MathanGeal (Sun 5th Dec 2021 10:33am)
