  • Got told yesterday I'm being promoted, decent pay rise too. Plus a bonus. Totally unexpected but I've been working my arse off this last year and now it feels worth it. by oh_no551 (Sat 5th Jan 2019 12:55pm)
  • Heading to hospital today, may need a steroid injection into my knee joint. Last time I had one it was horrendous so I'm dreading it :( by oh_no551 (Fri 11th Jan 2019 10:07am)
  • Solid rock, Rufus t firefly or Pot Still would be my choices. Or the admiral by oh_no551 (Sat 12th Jan 2019 1:25am)
  • Got a corticosteroid injection right into my knee joint yesterday it was grim. Spent the evening in agony on the sofa then slept for 12hrs. More resting today by oh_no551 (Sat 12th Jan 2019 3:08pm)
  • Thanks! I'm counting my blessings cos it's the first time in about 8 years I've needed one. I have rheumatoid arthritis- some folk with it need jags more often. Also, gin helps blur it all out! by oh_no551 (Sun 13th Jan 2019 1:45am)

  • I seem to have acquired the purriest cat ever. Following me around like a puppy. Cat tax: Elsa the Ragdoll https://imgur.com/a/8JYg9wW by oh_no551 (Sun 20th Jan 2019 12:06pm)
  • New kitten won't stop crying. She's happy enough, purring and eating. But she cries constantly, follows us around crying. I'm a little stressed out by oh_no551 (Mon 21st Jan 2019 9:24am)
  • Oh I know, I'm enjoying her company but it is a little draining. Just want the best for her and wish I could do more to settle her in so she wouldn't be so stressed! by oh_no551 (Mon 21st Jan 2019 10:23am)
  • I don't think so, the house is warm and she has beds and blankets but is wandering around. I assume she's looking for her mum/siblings. Wish there was more I could do to help her settle in by oh_no551 (Mon 21st Jan 2019 10:25am)
  • She also keeps attacking me. I think it's play fighting but telling her off, clapping etc is not working :( I'm getting ripped to shreds by oh_no551 (Mon 21st Jan 2019 12:01pm)
  • I've ordered one of the diffusers maybe it will help by oh_no551 (Mon 21st Jan 2019 12:56pm)
  • Have you tried any churches etc? Usually the cheapest venue hire. by oh_no551 (Thu 24th Jan 2019 10:38am)
  • This kitten is not normal. Sits crying at your feet when you're trying to do anything. Proper wailing. My head is bursting with it by oh_no551 (Thu 24th Jan 2019 1:37pm)
  • Yeah tried all that. She's fine when cuddling etc. And when leaving her alone she stops crying after 5 minutes or so. But can't get anything done when she's around as, if I'm moving, she cries. Have ordered some foam balls and a laser self play thing to see if it helps to add more activities that don't involve my interaction. Shattered! by oh_no551 (Thu 24th Jan 2019 7:31pm)
  • My husband is away doing a brass band contest all day. An old school friend is coming over to catch up, drink prosecco & gin and eat mars bar cake I'm making. Good times! by oh_no551 (Sun 27th Jan 2019 11:40am)
  • I used to do this at the Hilton, not sure if they still do it for non-guests though. There are usually deals on itison for this sort of thing. Further afield I'd recommend Lochside Hotel in Ayrshire - a bit of a trek though! by oh_no551 (Tue 29th Jan 2019 1:51am)
  • Anyone been to Montenegro? Looking at a holiday there but flying into Dubrovnik. Don't know much about it by oh_no551 (Tue 29th Jan 2019 10:18am)
  • Thanks, sounds good. Hotel we're looking at is outside Budva. Scenery looks great! by oh_no551 (Tue 29th Jan 2019 2:58pm)
  • Did you go to Budva? by oh_no551 (Tue 29th Jan 2019 3:06pm)
  • I'm v tempted to get it booked! Would be nice to try somewhere different by oh_no551 (Tue 29th Jan 2019 4:03pm)
  • My kitten is just not happy. Doesn't like being away from us but we can't have her around all day when working from home as she is wild and cries all the time. I'm worried she is not in the best home for her temperament :( by oh_no551 (Thu 31st Jan 2019 10:38am)
  • No, a ragdoll. They are supposed to be lower energy as well but not this one! by oh_no551 (Thu 31st Jan 2019 12:44pm)
  • Yeah I knew someone with one and this kitten is like that. She is super affectionate too but only when she's in the right mood. Wants to be beside us or playing at all times and we can't give her that :( by oh_no551 (Thu 31st Jan 2019 3:42pm)
  • My promotion is effective from today. Feeling a bit chuffed with myself! May have a celebratory gin or 4 tonight :) by oh_no551 (Fri 1st Feb 2019 9:11am)
  • Booked a holiday to Cascais in Portugal yesterday. Apartment with a big roof terrace & sea view. Had amazing seafood, cakes and cocktails the last time we went there so I can't wait! by oh_no551 (Mon 11th Feb 2019 12:33pm)
  • No the last time we were only there a few days and needing to relax after a hectic visit to Lisbon. This time we have 9 days and the apartment owner has a tour company! Def going to Sintra and maybe a boat trip too if it's not too choppy. Any other recommendations? by oh_no551 (Tue 12th Feb 2019 2:04am)
  • Decided Portugal holiday was too far away and in a fuck it moment last night booked a trip to Hamburg. Husband wants to go see a uboat after binge watching Das Boot over the weekend. by oh_no551 (Tue 12th Feb 2019 9:20am)
  • Got a switch yesterday and spent the whole day playing Mario & Mario Kart it was awesome. Need to find some other games - I love a platformer by oh_no551 (Mon 18th Feb 2019 9:40am)
  • I do. I'm not a huge gamer, like retro stuff mostly. Really impressed with how easy it is to switch between big screen and hand held. The most popular games are a bit pricey but I'm having a treat myself month haha. I read that gamers who are into crazy detailed graphics wouldn't be as keen on the switch. Maybe depends on what you have at the moment. For us we had an ancient DS and a Wii so Switch was a big improvement for Nintendo platform gaming. Husband says it's more fun than PS4 games :) by oh_no551 (Mon 18th Feb 2019 12:30pm)
  • Somewhere in the middle. Not so hard I stress or give up. Got Hollow Knight last night but couldn't get the hang of the first boss thing and found it frustrating being sent all the way back to the start. Will need to give it another go. Traditional Mario is my all time favourite and then crash bandicoot on ps. Like Leo's fortune too, anything with that sort of vibe is up my street by oh_no551 (Mon 18th Feb 2019 7:56pm)
  • Took the first dose of new arthritis meds yesterday and feel awful today. It's a low dose chemo injection. Better be worth it cos I feel miserable by oh_no551 (Tue 19th Feb 2019 10:55am)
  • Methotrexate jag. I'm doing the monitoring tests for biologics but I don't think the results make me a candidate yet. However I have iritis (related eye condition) and eye doc would like me on biologics. As far as I was aware side effects on biologics aren't as bad as mtx though. I'm hoping the side effects calm down when body get used to it. I took mtx pills years ago and they really didn't agree with me. But I need something stronger than current meds. This condition is a bastard isn't it by oh_no551 (Tue 19th Feb 2019 9:52pm)
  • Thanks. I've been on sulphasalazine for years and years - it holds off the worst flares but I am constantly having short flares and my general standard of living is crap. Hoping something on top will help, just need to get over this nausea. Held off taking other meds for years because I wanted to have a family but that just isn't happening so now time to focus on my health. Interested to hear how you go with cbd- let me know. I've been self medicating (trying to escape the pain) with alcohol a bit too much in recent years but that's stopped now I'm on mtx. Don't want my liver to pack in too! by oh_no551 (Wed 20th Feb 2019 12:59am)
  • Brilliant idea by oh_no551 (Sat 23rd Feb 2019 4:04pm)
  • Had a tough couple of weeks as I started low dose chemo for autoimmune disease. Have felt like shit and barely left the house. Today I'm going to take a half day, go get my hair done, put on a nice dress and my husband is taking me out for a late lunch and a couple of drinks. I'll probably be in bed by about 7pm. Perfect by oh_no551 (Fri 1st Mar 2019 8:36am)
  • Cheers, you too by oh_no551 (Fri 1st Mar 2019 9:22am)
  • Just to a little local bar restaurant down here in Ayrshire. I miss Glasgow for the better choice but I'm sure it'll be tasty. They have a good gin selection too :) by oh_no551 (Fri 1st Mar 2019 10:58am)

  • Taxi early, M77 clear, no queue at security: at my gate 1.5hr before I fly. FML. Today and tomorrow are going to be horrendous, I have the most stressful meetings for work. I've never been so desperate for the weekend :( by oh_no551 (Wed 20th Mar 2019 7:02am)

  • This week was the first time I've had to travel for work since I started low dose chemo for my rheumatoid arthritis. It was a nightmare, I am exhausted, but at least I'm home now. On the plus side my fight with Hmrc was successful- my client only has to pay £30k, not the £500k HMRC (incorrectly) thought was due. Result! by oh_no551 (Fri 22nd Mar 2019 11:01am)
  • Have you been to Glasgow? IMO it's a great place but I'd recommend coming for a visit before taking the leap by oh_no551 (Sat 23rd Mar 2019 1:29pm)
  • I moved countries having a very idealistic view of what I was moving to, based on reading online etc. I actually visited briefly first. But I wish I'd spent a bit more time there. Not just in the areas for socialising/lifestyle but checking out areas I'd be living and working in. I hated where I moved to and wish I'd done more prep first. Just my experience though of course! Much happier now I'm back in Scotland. by oh_no551 (Sat 23rd Mar 2019 2:09pm)
  • I'm feeling totally overwhelmed, stressed and anxious so my friend is coming to pick me up and take me out a walk with his dogs. Therapy time :) by oh_no551 (Thu 28th Mar 2019 1:39pm)
  • Every single time I plan a holiday I get ill beforehand. I work too much, get stressed and my arthritis flares up. My knee is so bad it's giving away when I'm walking - just what I need before a city break! I have a couple of days before I go, just have to hope it calms down :( by oh_no551 (Mon 1st Apr 2019 1:06pm)
  • Heading to Hamburg for a few days. Flight delayed though :( by oh_no551 (Thu 4th Apr 2019 8:37am)
  • You can go on the other train line for cheaper but it takes much longer. Express is steep at £25 though by oh_no551 (Thu 4th Apr 2019 8:19pm)
  • Thanks! They somehow managed to cancel the delay - got a different aircraft or something. So no compo claim this time! Claimed over £750 off ryanair last year after a cancellation :) by oh_no551 (Thu 4th Apr 2019 8:17pm)
  • Sun's out in Hamburg. Time for a wander through the warehouse district :) by oh_no551 (Sat 6th Apr 2019 11:07am)
  • Last few hours in Hamburg before we fly back. Really like the city :) by oh_no551 (Mon 8th Apr 2019 10:09am)
  • I'm making a Scottish package for my penpal in Austria. She requested shortbread and lemon curd, I was thinking tunnocks teacakes, tablet, Mackies crisps.... Any suggestions? by oh_no551 (Mon 22nd Apr 2019 11:41am)
  • What do you do in Barcelona? I'm having major desires to run away these days. I'll never do it but it's nice to dream I guess by oh_no551 (Wed 24th Apr 2019 5:11pm)
  • I could never do it as my mum is ill. Plus I did work in Malta for a while and wasn't a fan of having to work when it was hot!! Maybe for retirement I'll escape by oh_no551 (Wed 24th Apr 2019 6:01pm)
  • Has anyone changed from working mon-fri to a 4 day week? If so was it worth it? I'm really struggling with health (physical and mental) and work pressure is making things worse. Debating whether having a 4 day week would help. Don't know if the financial loss would be worth it or if I'd just end up having to do all the work I currently do but in only 4 days. Something has to give though as I'm miserable by oh_no551 (Fri 26th Apr 2019 11:26am)
  • I always feel better after a long weekend, like I get time to properly rest and have some time to do things I enjoy . I think a Friday off would be ideal. by oh_no551 (Fri 26th Apr 2019 11:58am)
  • I already work 9-10hr days on a fairly regular basis. I'm in a senior role in an industry where extra hours are sort of expected. So compressing doesn't really work - on a 4 day week I'd be doing 35-40hrs I expect. The only good thing is I work from home. I wouldn't be doing it otherwise. by oh_no551 (Fri 26th Apr 2019 11:57am)
  • I do actually like my job and it's a career I've built over 15yrs. I'm also the main wage earner and at a senior level where salary would be hard to find elsewhere. It's quite a specialist job so not easily transferable. Not sure what else I would do tbh by oh_no551 (Fri 26th Apr 2019 12:17pm)
  • It sounds good in theory but I already work late most days so I'd be working even later to get the work done. Part of the problem is workload at the small company I'm at and part is my issue with wanting to justify my salary and keep my clients happy! Although maybe I'd 'work smarter' if I was better rested from 3 days off. Worth thinking about by oh_no551 (Fri 26th Apr 2019 6:21pm)
  • I work for a small company. It could get better if they hire someone else which they are looking at just now. My boss is also pretty good and flexible. But I am super aware of justifying my salary and bringing in enough fees at the end of the month. Part of the pressure is the fees expectation, part client demands ( and competition elsewhere) and part of my own making. I have pretty high standards and get stressed if I keep people waiting. I'm also paranoid about people thinking my health conditions are getting in the way of work, even though they actually are! I've worked so hard to be successful even with chronic illness. I'm just finding it hard to keep it up. I'm desperate for a better balance but part of me feels like it would be admitting defeat to something I've fought since I was a kid. I also like the money lol by oh_no551 (Fri 26th Apr 2019 6:26pm)
  • If my workload genuinely reduced by going 4 days I think the balance would help me so much. My concern is I'd be working way too many hours in those 4 days to keep on top of things. But that could be up to me to enforce. I need some backbone! Hope you're doing well these days :) by oh_no551 (Fri 26th Apr 2019 7:26pm)
  • Cheers by oh_no551 (Fri 26th Apr 2019 9:27pm)

  • I went busking once on buchanan street and I'm sure the guidelines are that if someone asks you to move on you should, and if someone isn't moving on or is being annoying you can report them to the police. Police have the power to tell them to move or leave. Funnily enough our poorly prepared Oompah band was asked to move on by a couple of shop assistants! by oh_no551 (Tue 2nd Feb 2021 8:00pm)
  • I can imagine. I want a park to be peaceful especially the now. Maybe if someone had a word with him he would be decent about it - and if he's a dick then there's the option to report him. No idea if the police would do anything just now by oh_no551 (Tue 2nd Feb 2021 8:18pm)

  • Ayrshire too - our neighbour's house sold in an hour of it being online, after an online viewing only, for £55k more than they paid for it - £150k to £205k in 6yrs. For a tiny bungalow that barely changed in that time. So glad we got our house just before this craziness! by oh_no551 (Wed 14th Jul 2021 11:02am)
  • I did it one time when the guy sitting next to me took of his shoes, put his foot up on his knee and fell asleep. His foot slipped onto my lap. So I had a manky stanky sports sock foot sitting on my lap for ages. I tried waking him but he was dead to the world and I didn't want to make a fuss. Finally got a grip of myself and stood up to get him off me. Barely slept a wink the whole way down. Anyhoo, it'll do the job and get you there but it won't be pleasant by oh_no551 (Tue 20th Jul 2021 9:56am)

  • This would be good advice if i had any muscle memory! I haven't sang in a choir or anything in years. A bit of practice this week and then a rest and I'll be fine. They did say that so long I can hold a tune I'll be ok 🙂 by oh_no551 (Tue 14th Sep 2021 6:45pm)

  • Lecture from my GP about how much pressure they are all under has really set my low mood this morning. I'm only trying to get medicine that was decided upon in June by a consultant. Every person involved in the process has messed up and I've spent hours on the phone trying to sort it out. I'm at the last hurdle but still more delay at the GP/pharmacy and now a lecture about how "the pharmacist is about to drop". I understand, but 3 months for a prescription when I'm suffering is just so long! And there's no reason, just multiple people missing instructions, or procedures not being followed. Rant over :( by oh_no551 (Fri 24th Sep 2021 10:30am)
  • I don't know why you are being down voted for asking a question! Our local was queued out this morning and others ones along the road were full as well. There must be scaremongering going on somewhere to make people go by oh_no551 (Fri 24th Sep 2021 2:41pm)
  • Thank you. It upset me because I of course know the pressure the NHS is under, she didn't need to lecture me :( Mentioning the pharmacist by name and saying how hard she has it. Well - that's not my fault nor is there anything I can do about it! People still need meds so they should be looking for more solutions. It makes me think there must be so many people suffering from lack of care at the moment, who aren't able to speak up for themselves. by oh_no551 (Fri 24th Sep 2021 3:59pm)
  • That's not on :( And the thing is - these people don't know us and what pressure we have been under as well! For all they know we could be essential workers or have lost our jobs or family members. by oh_no551 (Sat 25th Sep 2021 12:56pm)
  • I've loads of work I need to get done (own business) but I'm having an arthritis & sciatica flare up. Do I take pain meds to deal with the pain but then I'm more sleepy, or try without them so I'm less tired but more sore 🤦‍♀️😭 by oh_no551 (Tue 28th Sep 2021 11:06am)
  • TENS does nothing for me! I haven't tried bender/pilates ball thanks I'll have a look. I use a tennis ball for some pressure when it's really bad but today I don't think I could get up and down from the floor due to my arthritis flares (knees, hands). I'm a wreck haha by oh_no551 (Tue 28th Sep 2021 12:04pm)
  • It happens every time the seasons change for me! I also want to hibernate - I can't believe the change in the way I feel in just a few weeks :( by oh_no551 (Tue 28th Sep 2021 12:39pm)
  • I've had JIA since I was a baby so I've tried everything I think! Some days hot, some days cold. Only minimal help really. I asked about pain management referral earlier in the year but the waiting list is huge and in some ways I think I've tried most things I've read they do. Some days I just need the meds. by oh_no551 (Tue 28th Sep 2021 12:37pm)

  • I'm down in Ayrshire, might be different here. But I also didn't push it because my life already revolves around medical appointments at the moment and I couldn't really face any more. It's a struggle to work being ill never mind with all these appointments. I left my job in the summer to start my own business with the aim of more flexibility - works in some ways but also means there's only me when works needs to be done :( by oh_no551 (Tue 28th Sep 2021 2:19pm)

  • I was standing outside during a break from panto rehearsal last night, chatting and laughing with new friends from the drama group, rain falling on me to cool off from the dancing we'd been doing and I just thought- "this is the most alive I've felt in years". Still feels hard to get ready and go out but it reminded me that it's worth it ❤ by oh_no551 (Thu 28th Oct 2021 1:02pm)
  • Plus one for Starling. I spent weeks trying to get a business bank account with Santander even though I've been with them for a really long time. Wanted in person meetings just after lockdown. Gave up and applied with Starling and had the account the next day! It's also so easy to use and manage by oh_no551 (Thu 18th Nov 2021 11:33am)

  • Chances are they'll have to pay charges when it arrives there as well, just so you're aware. I did all the usual stuff, declaring a gift and under €45 but my friend in Austria was charged €33 to receive the parcel. I told her to appeal it but it's such a hassle by oh_no551 (Sat 20th Nov 2021 5:12pm)
  • Do you have a car? by oh_no551 (Sun 21st Nov 2021 1:35am)
  • Well in that case I recommend Dumfries House Estate near Cumnock in East Ayrshire. It's never very busy, a nice walk in really pretty surroundings and a cafe if you need it. Alternatively a walk around the lake in Linlithgow. In Glasgow I always liked a wander around the Necropolis beside the Royal Infirmary - so many interesting headstones. Hope you enjoy whatever you do by oh_no551 (Sun 21st Nov 2021 1:43am)
  • I'm lucky because I stay down here so I have a nice place for a walk when I want it :) by oh_no551 (Sun 21st Nov 2021 10:41am)
  • Cumnock so we drive over if we're going. I moved back here about 4 years ago and it's so nice to have it, makes the area much better than when I grew up here by oh_no551 (Sun 21st Nov 2021 10:53am)
  • Funnily enough i had takeaway from there last night! Food options aren't great in Cumnock, we go to Ayr if we want to go out for a meal. There are a couple of other places in Cumnock - Dumfries Arms and 1906/Royal Hotel but the food is a bit boring. Glad you enjoyed Masala! by oh_no551 (Sun 21st Nov 2021 11:05am)

  • Thanks. This is actually for mum buying for my brother. If it was me I'd do justeat or I'd just order him something on a particular night. But she is more focused on handing over sometime on Xmas day that seems special. I'll just go through restaurants I can think of and see if they have vouchers I think 🤦‍♀️ by oh_no551 (Fri 10th Dec 2021 11:44pm)
  • Houses in Auchinleck in East Ayrshire are being advertised over £260-270k. It's mental - Auchinleck?! My parents struggled to sell their house in Cumnock for £130k 10years ago and now it's gone mental by oh_no551 (Sat 11th Dec 2021 12:27am)
  • Our next door neighbour put his house on the market and he had a verbal offer half an hour later! They didn't even come to see it first. I've been really lucky, I bought in December 2019. Wouldn't have been able to afford this place now by oh_no551 (Sat 11th Dec 2021 12:15pm)

  • My family and I don't do gifts other than to my wee nephew. However my Dad can't give up on the tradition of "dad's special gift". This was historically something he chose without input from us or our mum. It is usually weird, unusual or cute but unusable - or a mixture! So I received this, but as much as it isn't my taste I still love it Christmas Gift https://imgur.com/a/ztADrVI by oh_no551 (Sun 26th Dec 2021 1:27am)

  • Feeling freaked out at the moment. I've had peripheral neuropathy - burning, pain, pressure & tingling in my legs and feet for a month or so. 2 weeks ago it moved into my arms and chest. Went to the GP yesterday and my blood pressure is through the roof so now I have to use a home machine to send them results. I'm in so much pain and lay awake last night freaking out I was going to have a stroke in my sleep. by oh_no551 (Thu 3rd Feb 2022 9:54am)
  • They said one reading can't be relied upon so they need multiple readings over several days to see if I really have a problem, especially as I have no history of blood pressure issues. I'd rather do that at home than in hospital anyway I suppose by oh_no551 (Thu 3rd Feb 2022 11:59am)
  • I have cocodamol and pregabalin, takes the edge off the pain a bit. I haven't had this in the past- I have JIA, a from of arthritis so I'm used to pain but this is something different. Plus chest pain is really unsettling. by oh_no551 (Thu 3rd Feb 2022 11:57am)
  • Thanks very much. I am lucky that I suffer from pain all the time anyway so I have some coping techniques. But this is something else, the feeling of pressure and chest pain is hard to get over. Plus the worry about my blood pressure. No idea what's even causing this, blood pressure and neuropathy don't seem to be related and they also aren't really common with my existing condition (JIA). by oh_no551 (Thu 3rd Feb 2022 12:02pm)
  • Yeah it's interesting. I've never had covid symptoms or tested positive. But the other thing I've seen is some medical reports of people having neuropathy after the vaccines. I think mine started not long after my booster, which was also the first time I had the Pfizer. But I also had a strong dose of steroids at the same time, and the flu jag so maybe my body has just reacted like - wtf is going on! by oh_no551 (Thu 3rd Feb 2022 12:54pm)
  • Thanks, I'm actually working so I've plenty to keep me busy but I also can't concentrate well so I keep ending up on reddit 😅 by oh_no551 (Thu 3rd Feb 2022 1:21pm)
  • Yeah there has been talk about this because I've had more general pain when not flaring, so now the doctors are saying I prob have fibro too. So far it hasn't presented like this, it's been more general achy pains and sore to touch etc. So maybe this is just another lovely fibro symptom I have to enjoy! I could cope when it was in my legs, but the arm and chest pain is something else 😫 I have an increased dose of pregabalin to take so hopefully it helps. Sorry to hear you've been suffering too. Bloody immune systems! by oh_no551 (Thu 3rd Feb 2022 4:24pm)
  • I asked rheumo about the vaccines and they said they had no guidance! But I did also have a bad arthritis flare after booster (that's why I had a steroid jag). I have not had a good time recently! by oh_no551 (Thu 3rd Feb 2022 4:20pm)

  • Same thing happened to me but it was "membership cards" that gave you money off restaurants and gyms etc. This must have been about 2002 maybe. I turned up to somewhere like Gordon Street where there was a confusing talk and then a "supervisor" took me away on a bus to fuck knows where. At least a half hour on the bus. We walked around doors trying to sell these, no takers. I didn't know where I was and had basically no money ao I just stuck it out. We didn't sell anything but I still got offered the job. Soon as I was back in the city centre I told him where to go. My feet were sore as fuck as well I remember 😩 by oh_no551 (Wed 6th Apr 2022 9:39pm)
  • Yeah I was about 20 and didn't know Glasgow well. I didn't have the nerve to stand up and demand to be take back or at least helped. You have to wonder how many people accepted the "job" which was all based on sales and no hourly wage by oh_no551 (Wed 6th Apr 2022 10:24pm)

  • Got contacted about a contract position yesterday that is so tempting for the money. But I've been running my business and doing pretty well for 8 months, I don't want to give up my clients even though they are inconsistent work. Could I manage both for the 12mth contract?! This is today's dilemma by oh_no551 (Wed 27th Apr 2022 10:03am)
  • Thanks! Not much can be automated, it's mostly consultancy. But some of it my husband can pick up more of (he's my co-director) and some I could outsource if I really needed to. If I could get contract role on a flexi 4 day week it could be possible to manage it all. I just don't want to lose the 8 months of work building my client book for a short term gain. I'd be knackered though! I have some health crap going on too. But contract role would come with some annual leave I assume, it's inside IR35. by oh_no551 (Wed 27th Apr 2022 10:20am)

  • My dad collapsed unable to walk with a mad fever yesterday. NHS24 said to wait for the on call doctor - that took 8hrs. Doctor phoned an ambulance, worried about sepsis, and said it would be about an hour. 11hrs later it turned up - without anyone that could lift him! Luckily a different one came soon after. So yeah I haven't really slept, and who knows what today brings by oh_no551 (Mon 6th Jun 2022 9:10am)
  • I know, it makes me wonder how many ambulances we actually have, and how busy triage must be. They could manage it better though - the doctor made it seem really serious. And when they eventually came they told my mum they think it was mis-classified as non-urgent Better communication would help I think by oh_no551 (Mon 6th Jun 2022 9:59am)

  • Depends what you're into. Want to be out at a huge variety of shows and entertainment and events? London. In certain careers where there's maybe more opportunity in London? London. Want to travel lots and need access to airports that go to lots of destinations? London Happy with a smaller city but still decent stuff going on? Glasgow. Not tied to a place and a desire to keep costs down? Glasgow. Want to be closer to easily accessible nature and outdoor activities? Glasgow I've spent a lot of time in London and I enjoyed it when I was young, but I always preferred Glasgow for cost of living, friendly people and general vibe of the place. by oh_no551 (Wed 7th Sep 2022 9:37am)

Painting over murals and tiles, shitty flooring over beautiful mosaics, windows painted over to have a dark room for a club/disco room, I think. Those shitty lowered ceilings that hid the cornicing. But I'm 100% letting down the team I work with, who I'm pretty close to. The people pleaser in me is dreading it. Last time I quit a job that I hated, I cried, so I'll probably be a mess afterwards! by oh_no551 (Tue 18th Jul 2023 10:43am)

  • Well I cried, but I did hand my notice in. My boss is the nicest man ever, best boss I've ever had. He of course was completely understanding and supportive, which made me emotional. Now I get to focus on my company and I'll get some time back to go out and live a little. by oh_no551 (Wed 19th Jul 2023 9:03am)
  • But they are blaming the union actions for the decline in revenue, and the union actions were to get fair pay for the workers by oh_no551 (Wed 19th Jul 2023 2:45pm)
  • Yeah smash burgers for the win. I'd rather multiple thin burgers than one thick one. With cheese in between! by oh_no551 (Sat 22nd Jul 2023 11:03pm)
  • Maybe you could go to the GP and focus on the PMDD part? Have you tracked whether your cycle is impacting how you feel? When I did that I was treated via gynaecology rather than via mental health. I get an injection to stop my ovaries working and then take HRT. It saved my life - totally evened me out after periods of being in such deep despair. Maybe other hormonal treatment could be an option too, different pill, coil etc. I'd love a hysterectomy to be done with it all, but I'm too overweight to get it on the NHS. Wishing you all the best by oh_no551 (Sun 6th Aug 2023 9:00pm)
  • Might be worth a shot. I didn't have long waiting list to be seen and maybe the GP could offer something in the meantime. For a short while I took the pill constantly with no breaks and that helped a little - not enough, but it was something. I think the GPs hear "mental health" and know about the backlog so become a bit defeatist. But if it's mental health with a possible hormonal cause to it maybe you'd get a GP thinking of solutions. by oh_no551 (Sun 6th Aug 2023 10:08pm)
  • Also if you want someone to speak to, even just to have a rant, feel free to message me. I'm 42F, had problems all through my 30s, suffer chronic pain, take anxiety meds but I'm doing better these last few years. I totally empathise with what you're going through and hope you get some help by oh_no551 (Sun 6th Aug 2023 10:17pm)
  • I didn't have the usual ingredients so I had apple juice, vinegar and washing up liquid in a wee jar - caught so many flies! by oh_no551 (Sun 17th Sep 2023 1:26am)
