  • I don't have an issue with it, I'm just baffled at the sheer dedication they put into taking photos of buses. I agree, though, it's no big deal, I just find it a bit strange and confusing, that's all. by raidoe85 (Sun 25th Jul 2021 9:03pm)
  • Buy a fan for your bedroom. The white noise cancels out the sound of the screaming. by raidoe85 (Fri 1st Oct 2021 1:02pm)
  • A 2cm tattoo shouldn't cost anywhere near £100. by raidoe85 (Mon 4th Oct 2021 3:09pm)
  • Those replies make sense, I suppose. I thought I'd hit onto an infinite money glitch or something! by raidoe85 (Wed 13th Oct 2021 3:04pm)
  • Virgin Money are absolutely honking as a bank. I've had nothing but problems with them. They've sent me God knows how many cards, all of them branded with the Virgin logo, then they sent me another one, as the Virgin branded ones apparently weren't part of the Virgin bank system. I complained, so they cancelled all of my cards. I had 4 cards that were all working, for a single account holder. I was then told that I'd requested all of my cards to be cancelled, on a Saturday evening, as if that's normal behaviour. by raidoe85 (Sun 17th Oct 2021 4:13pm)
  • I had a postman who was an alcoholic when I lived in Cessnock. The guy was pinching mail, I'm fairly sure. I ordered three bank cards in a month, none of them came. They were just replacement cards with the same PIN, so they'd have been useless to him. I then complained about it to the royal mail, and I had a letter posted through my door on a Sunday morning. I heard him post it then run down the stairs (I was at the top of the close). The complaint didn't seem to do very much apart from get me that random, Sunday delivery, which was weird, but it also wasn't quite the same level of harassment you've described, so it's probably worth a shot. by raidoe85 (Mon 18th Oct 2021 1:00pm)
  • It was about a year or so, give or take. He was always pissed, to the point where he'd shout my name from the bottom of the close and expect me to collect my mail from him. I didn't mind doing that, on an occasional basis, but he knocked the backside right out of it. I was very close to both Ibrox stadium and Paisley road west, of that gives you a bit more context. by raidoe85 (Tue 19th Oct 2021 12:06am)
  • The wording of that wasn't meant to be offensive to anyone with an addiction problem, by the way. by raidoe85 (Tue 19th Oct 2021 3:16pm)
  • It takes a special level of commitment to being an alcoholic to be able to perform a job that starts as early as being a postman, and be drunk whilst you're at work. I'd assume he's not getting pissed that early in the morning, so he must just finish his shift, get mad with it all day, then go to work still pissed in the morning. by raidoe85 (Tue 19th Oct 2021 3:15pm)
  • I saw a team of guys painting the bins outside the rangers shop on Sauchiehall street today, so not only are they picking up litter, they're pimping up the bins, too. I can't see Obama or Putin looking for a new bit of Castore gear, but at least they're trying. Still, the place will be a midden, after the conference, and probably during it, too, if they're not emptying the bins. I'm not pro or anti strike, by the way. I have no skin in that game, apart from not wanting to live in a watered down Baghdad, but I left the city 6 years ago, and it wasn't as filthy as it is now. I spent time in South East Asia, in 3rd world countries, or at least developing nations, and it's getting to be as bad as those places, now. Still, brand spanking new coats of paint on the bins, so that's a plus... by raidoe85 (Fri 22nd Oct 2021 12:07am)
  • Apparently she tried Poundland and there was nothing there. I'm a bit sceptical as to how hard she's tried, to be honest. I'll have a look on Argyle street tomorrow, though, that's probably a good shout. by raidoe85 (Wed 27th Oct 2021 3:57pm)
  • I suppose that kind of makes sense. We're probably still being discouraged from having parties at this point in time. This Covid carry on will hopefully be in a much better place by Christmas. It's a shame for the kids, though - that'll be two years of Halloween they'll have missed out on if this year's a shit show again. by raidoe85 (Wed 27th Oct 2021 4:22pm)
  • I'd have thought so, too. Apparently she's been to the Forge and most of the shops you listed there. I kind of feel like she might just not be trying... 🤔 by raidoe85 (Wed 27th Oct 2021 4:26pm)
  • "I need cups straws table cloths and like simply Halloween shit". That's a verbatim quote. I'd have thought it would have been easy enough to find that sort of stuff almost anywhere in the city. I'm on my way back now, I was away for a few days. I'm not just so lazy as to not be able to head to any of the shops you lot have mentioned, by the way. I'll get some stuff tomorrow, although the party may be cancelled, I'm now hearing, so I apologise for wasting anyone's time. It is the internet, though, I'm almost sure most of you don't have anything else more pressing to do! by raidoe85 (Wed 27th Oct 2021 4:43pm)
  • Thanks for all the suggestions, but apparently the kibosh has been thrown on the party. I spent the past two days downloading tunes I wouldn't normally play for it, but it seems like it's a no go. It's a young crowd, I reckon if I put on Thriller they wouldn't get the reference, so it's no big loss. It's a shame for the lassie who was throwing it, though. by raidoe85 (Wed 27th Oct 2021 11:13pm)
  • How big are we talking with regards to this bat? You say massive, but that's subjective. by raidoe85 (Wed 27th Oct 2021 11:11pm)
  • Width or length wise? Either way, it's probably bigger than I had imagined, unless you're talking a kitchen cupboard door, in which case I'd be thoroughly underwhelmed. by raidoe85 (Wed 27th Oct 2021 11:15pm)
  • The people I live with. I live in student accommodation, they seem to not know what most things are. They're quite naive. by raidoe85 (Thu 28th Oct 2021 5:23am)
  • Apparently they're cutting about in Arnold Clark vans and other hire vehicles. Don't trust anyone for the next few weeks if you've got any nefarious plans, I'd say... by raidoe85 (Mon 1st Nov 2021 11:53pm)
  • Get myself to Cornwall? I get you. by raidoe85 (Tue 2nd Nov 2021 12:47am)
  • At least it's not CIA cutting about in the full on black suits in hire vans. That would be knocking the arse out of it. They'll all be here, though, all of the world's CIA equivalents. by raidoe85 (Tue 2nd Nov 2021 1:17am)
  • There's a room in my student accommodation coming up soon, if you're interested in that? It's a shared kitchen, own room set up with an en suite bathroom and WiFi, bills, gym, included. It's not your own flat, but it's a decent place to live. Townhead area, about £600 a month. Let me know if you're interested. by raidoe85 (Tue 16th Nov 2021 5:34pm)
  • I had 4 or 5 15 minute appointments with a shrink over the same period of time. I was diagnosed as having brain damage last year. I was basically given a diagnosis right at the start of lockdown, no prognosis, then left to fend for myself all the way through until a couple of months ago when I started talking with a brain injury psychologist. The care I've been getting up here is actually slightly better than what I was getting when I was living in England. That's where it happened. I was pretty much ignored by everyone and every service I tried to engage with. It's been a rough 20 or so months. I've called charities and all that, but they don't have to help you, so they tend not to, when they hear from me. by raidoe85 (Mon 22nd Nov 2021 4:04pm)
  • I just finished a BSc through the OU, and I got housing benefit and universal credit throughout. You can study full time and still get benefits. You can't get a loan or bursary, but you won't have to pay anything for your studies either. by raidoe85 (Sat 22nd Jan 2022 5:32pm)
  • I think I'll probably have to get it done when I'm overseas. It's not a big problem, I just thought I'd check to see if there were any places doing walk-ins. There was a time when some of the better studios didn't take bookings at all, they operated on a walk-in only basis. I should have guessed that would have ended with Covid, but it did no harm to ask. Cheers. by raidoe85 (Mon 24th Jan 2022 6:55pm)
  • It's bold of you to assume the they'd be able to talk with anyone at the council on a phone! Seems like everything like that is still shut down due to Covid. I had a £1200 council tax bill sent to me and I live in student accommodation. I couldn't get a hold of anyone to tell them that was obviously mad, yet they were able to send out the letter no bother. by raidoe85 (Sat 12th Mar 2022 11:38am)
  • If you could, aye. I clearly wasn't limiting myself to Mother India, and was asking for suggestions for a decent spot of lunch in the city somewhere. I offered Mother India as a suggestion as somewhere I've enjoyed in the past. by raidoe85 (Fri 18th Mar 2022 6:29pm)
  • Cheers, much appreciated. by raidoe85 (Fri 18th Mar 2022 6:38pm)
  • It looks as if it's still closed from the website. I like your thinking, though. by raidoe85 (Fri 18th Mar 2022 6:36pm)
  • Cheers, that sounds decent. Well located, too. by raidoe85 (Fri 18th Mar 2022 7:31pm)
  • It'll be a bit early in the day for BYOB with my parents, but it's good to know, nonetheless! by raidoe85 (Fri 18th Mar 2022 9:25pm)
  • Don't fuckin' pay the bills. I'm not in the UK anymore, but all I've read and heard is people complaining about the price of lecky. If you think you're getting ripped off, just don't pay it. I mean everyone, across the country. If not a single person pays their bill, what are they going to do? Cut off everyone's supply? Put everyone in jail? Not a chance. Just don't pay your bills. Even if it's only for a few months, worst comes to worst, you'll find yourself in arrears, but you'll have put the money aside, because you're not a moron. Record profits and record prices should not co-exist. by raidoe85 (Wed 6th Apr 2022 1:26pm)
  • I've probably met Gassy Annie, although I've never known her by that name. She was just an old lady buzzing gas, habitually. Sounds like the same person, though. She asked me for a lighter one time, which I gave her and also told her she should maybe take a wee break between buzzing gas and lighting a fag, lest she explode or even implode. She clean denied she was doing anything, and just sort of hid the canister. I'd assumed she'd been a victim of the harshness of the lockdowns on everyone's mental health, but maybe she'd been at it for longer. This would have been closer to the city centre on Paisley Road West. I can remember feeling very sorry for the old dear, but if she wants to light a fag, then it's hardly my duty to fully risk assess the situation. I did as best I could. by raidoe85 (Wed 27th Jul 2022 2:52pm)
