  • I’m trying to shift a bike, bought it in April brand new for about £250 to commute to work but gave up on it because I’m lazy and live right by the subway. It’s a female bike but I don’t know if that matters. If you are interested I could pass it on to you, it takes up space in our tiny close and I was just going to give it to one of those bike charities by 0rnge (Thu 22nd Aug 2019 8:30pm)
  • Feel free to!! I live on Byers Rd and would prefer if somebody could pick it up. It’s got a pannier rack and I’ve got the bags that go with it and a bunch of stuff, like a repair kit, spare inner tubes etc. Drop me a pm if you’re interested :) by 0rnge (Sun 25th Aug 2019 8:14am)
  • A Spigot, misheard the guy and went into b and q asking for a sprigget though and the plumber laughed at me lmao by 0rnge (Sun 13th Oct 2019 1:17pm)
  • No idea, the flat we have moved into had no white goods so had to buy everything by 0rnge (Sun 13th Oct 2019 2:16pm)

  • M&S on Argyle street is open for clothes and food. Nipped in for some shopping one day and all of a sudden the shop has been opened up! Not sure if it’s the whole shop though by 0rnge (Mon 15th Jun 2020 5:45pm)
  • Thank you I wasn’t aware of them. I’ve just dropped them an email, hopefully they can help! by 0rnge (Mon 27th Jul 2020 11:24am)
  • I really like Duolingo for other languages but they dont have persian yet sadly! I will check out the other link though thanks! by 0rnge (Mon 27th Jul 2020 12:08pm)
  • I am trying so hard but find the quality of Farsi learning resources really varies online?? I think the language is really beautiful too, I especially like learning all of the idioms used!! The entire culture has been amazing to be exposed too.. especially the food!! I was trying to get a visa to visit his family too but it was more difficult than I anticipated for the uk by 0rnge (Mon 27th Jul 2020 2:28pm)
  • He is a native speaker, I would like to do this but I think it would be very difficult to keep it up without him getting frustrated by 0rnge (Mon 27th Jul 2020 2:30pm)
  • Was in Glasgow today with my boyfriend outside Babs and some guy comes down the sheet shouting at us that this is “our fxcking city and to leave”. Very scary for me. I’m sorry you have had bad experiences too but I still love Glasgow as a city. I try not to let the few ruin it by 0rnge (Thu 30th Jul 2020 10:29pm)
  • I agree. I am mostly upset because my elderly moggie sits on the balcony and was there when it went off. Now she won’t come out of my bedroom due to shock. I’m well aware November is firework time in this country and have learned to live with it but could do without this. It happens every year here and it must be the same kids. I didn’t realise how easy it was to get fireworks here either until recently. In my home country you can’t just nip into a shop and buy some then hand them off to your children apparently! by 0rnge (Fri 23rd Oct 2020 8:54am)
  • My cat is normally fine with them, well she can deal with it. I just put her in my bedroom and keep her company. She didn’t appreciate having one blow up metres away from her though in the middle of the afternoon. Poor thing just enjoying the breeze outside!! She hasn’t left my room all day and has even hissed at me which is really not like her. I think she is in some kind of shock. I’ve called the vet and they say just to keep an eye on her. Any recommendations on what else I can do for her as I’m really concerned? by 0rnge (Fri 23rd Oct 2020 1:37pm)
  • On a side note, when I was at uni I was in a society and one thing we did was collect cloud samples for a weather survey which consisted of a lot of hiking and collecting air samples. After bonfire night the samples usually come up black for about a week. Quite concerning, but it’s fine because pretty lights! by 0rnge (Fri 23rd Oct 2020 2:04pm)
  • As said before, roots and fruits are good, only the Great Western Rd store does plants tho and blooms is nice. There is one up southside, I think it’s called Stems and Stalks? Or just beside it maybe. There is a nice florist that sells lots of indoor plants! Check local selling sites too.. plants go up on facebook groups / gumtree sometimes!! by 0rnge (Fri 23rd Oct 2020 2:12pm)
  • I avoid these groups at all costs these days. I used the NextDoor app for a while but it’s basically the same stuff. What annoys me is when people start going along the lines of “we did similar stuff when we were young.” When I was young my mother would have beat me with her sandal if I was rude to the mailman.. definitely wasn’t lighting peoples bins on fire!! by 0rnge (Fri 23rd Oct 2020 2:20pm)
  • I stay St Valentines Terrace right beside the primary school in the flats with green roofs. They have usually been doing it during the day but yesterday was the only time I’ve seen them by our house. Hopefully they stop it by 0rnge (Fri 23rd Oct 2020 9:08pm)
  • Ayr is my home town and I miss it dearly !! Grass is always greener by 0rnge (Mon 9th Nov 2020 11:21pm)
  • The girl i used to live with is constantly posting stories of her drunken ket parties on Snapchat. It makes me so angry that people just do what they want Literally all that is keeping me sane is running but the better half is a gym fanatic and with the gyms closing again his mood is already dropping. He suffers from depression and it is one of the few things that helps him and covid has only made it worse with his job I’m lucky enough to work from home but my partner is a pharmacist and has been subject to the worst year of his life with GP’s just sending most people to the pharmacy - fair enough they have to keep safe too but I’m biased towards my pharmacy boy! People come into the pharmacy regularly with their home test kits asking to drop them off and they had a supply issue so all their orders were late meaning prescriptions were late and everybody takes it out on him. Also was great to see people clapping on Thursday night (remember that?) then abusing the pharmacist on Friday morning after you’ve had your coke binge, fab! by 0rnge (Tue 17th Nov 2020 11:26pm)
  • Ours are about £50 a month in Gorbals. We have a lift and it broke and they divided the cost between us all but it only went up about £10 I would say 110 is very high especially with no lift? by 0rnge (Sat 12th Dec 2020 9:04am)
  • Sholeh is open next door to me , persian food - really nice by 0rnge (Fri 25th Dec 2020 10:39am)
  • All good advice here. Defo carpet beetle and very common in my experience. These things give me nightmares/heebie jeebies. I think basically every flat I lived in until we bought our own had them, it really bothered me and my entire house is now laminate or tiled floor. Mainly because of my (irritational) fear of the larvae Best way to get rid of them is to burn your house down or move as if the neighbours have them, they won’t go away tbh. by 0rnge (Wed 14th Apr 2021 11:23pm)

  • I carried my mini schnauzer and was stopped and told no dogs allowed. I think it depends on how much the staff care / notice at the station you get on tbh by 0rnge (Sat 21st Aug 2021 2:43pm)
  • Watch out for the dog poo though! I walk my dog here and constantly picking up massive poos of what I can only assume are giant beasts by 0rnge (Sat 21st Aug 2021 2:59pm)

  • I moved to Glasgow 3 years ago and at the same time started a huge coke problem.. luckily I am clean now but it really messed up my finances and some friendships. I never knew how much of a problem it was here, my issue is I can’t take a bit and then continue my 9-5 where a lot of people seem to be able to. It is also stupidly easy to get and is delivered in like 5 minutes any part of the city. I would empty my bank account, keep going all morning into the next afternoon then call sick for 3 days at least as you need a good week or so to get over the mental side affects in my case I think it is far too normalised. The guy I dated at the time told me everybody takes coke and would take it everyday and I’ve met a lot of people like that. I ended up on this everyday for months over the winter 2018/19 and it very close to ruined my life Support groups help as does changing your friend group even if it means having no friends like me! It makes me really sad to think what I messed up for gear but glad I’ve learned the lesson by 0rnge (Sun 12th Sep 2021 2:35pm)
  • We pay for 140 a month for a couples membership platinum (means you get all access and can visit other clubs). Rouken Glen is quite expensive and small compared to other DLs but it is nice, we used to be at Renfrew David Lloyd and it’s a (little) cheaper by 0rnge (Sun 10th Oct 2021 6:24pm)

  • I walk my dog through glasgow green at night. The path down past the blue bridge towards the city centre then up back to the bridge is well lit. Not a huge walk but I feel safe enough there especially up to like 9pm there are usually a fair amount of runners about by 0rnge (Thu 27th Jan 2022 10:50pm)
  • Mine is 90 a month in a two bed non-tenement flat in gorbals. I would say this is on the higher end but we have a lift and shared garden for the development so this adds to it by 0rnge (Sat 29th Jan 2022 3:30pm)
  • I pay it because it’s my house. If you rent I believe the landlords have to cover it. To be honest it is very high considering the cleaning is substandard and me and my neighbour end up cleaning the landing ourselves and we can’t get the cleaning changed unless everyone in the development agrees which is never going to happen by 0rnge (Sat 29th Jan 2022 3:44pm)
  • A development of over 60 properties, even if everyone agreed it would talk a long time even getting in touch with everyone and organising it when you think this is a mix of owners, landlords, private tenants, HA tenants and some people are never in e.g my neighbour. It also needs to be a unanimous decision and there will always be somebody who says no by 0rnge (Mon 31st Jan 2022 4:35pm)

  • I can’t as I’ve not passed my theory yet just looking for an idea if it is still backlogged. I’m learning with my family until I can get an instructor (on a waiting list) so don’t have an instructor to ask at the moment by 0rnge (Mon 28th Feb 2022 2:14pm)
  • That’s good to know you can get a cancellation!! I have my own car so maybe this will be the way to do it! by 0rnge (Mon 28th Feb 2022 3:58pm)
  • That’s crazy. I booked my theory 3 weeks ago and it’s on Monday in the city centre so was only a months wait. I can’t get any lessons for ages though so I’m learning in my own car for now by 0rnge (Mon 28th Feb 2022 3:55pm)

  • From their tenancy booklet I found online: Tenants in multi-storey flats are not allowed to keep dogs. All tenants must ask permission before they keep a pet or other animal. If they are GHA tenants they should be able to help hopefully https://www.gha.org.uk/__data/assets/pdf_file/0030/52878/My-tenancy-leaflet-GHA.pdf by 0rnge (Thu 10th Mar 2022 5:10pm)

  • Have you tried the veterinary centre on crow road? Not southside but my friend took her rabbits there for lots of stuff. I use Hyndland st vet for my dog and see people in with wee animals a lot too so maybe worth calling them by 0rnge (Thu 7th Apr 2022 10:02am)
  • If you enjoy persian I highly recommend Sholeh! For Indian I like TukTuk by 0rnge (Thu 7th Apr 2022 8:13pm)
  • I went here for my birthday. I really liked it but pricey. If you are just craving them, fish plaice in salt market (they have a shop on Byers road too) always seem to have whole crab and crab claws in. Just boil them, very easy! by 0rnge (Sat 9th Apr 2022 10:25pm)
  • I’m not sure about the grants/loans but would be happy to drop you off some shopping to see you through the week If it is a housing situation and you will be homeless if you can’t come up with the funds I would contact shelter scotland as they have great advice by 0rnge (Sun 10th Apr 2022 8:25am)

  • Have you been to Cuningar Loop? Nice walk and good play park for wild kids I took my wee brother on the sightseeing bus when it was nice. We got some ice creams and he loved it Does she like painting? You could also take her to the craft pottery to paint a wee ornament or something by 0rnge (Thu 28th Apr 2022 9:30am)
  • You need to ask to be put on a waiting list. I did this around feb and only heard back from a few out of loads of queries by 0rnge (Thu 28th Apr 2022 3:11pm)
  • Sholeh / paradise / meze meze and all authentic persian and very good. Meze meze also does some Turkish stuff but I would go to Eda for that Sholeh is best for true persian like home cooking you would get back in Iran but Meze Meze does the best koobideh by 0rnge (Thu 28th Apr 2022 10:56pm)
  • Pret beside central station does soups and a few other hot bits by 0rnge (Fri 6th May 2022 10:40am)
  • Where abouts are you going? You can get a bus from Girvan to Glentrool. Plenty of trains run to girvan with a change at Ayr. Glentrool is a good starting point for the park. If you are looking to explore it I would suggest doing a bit of camping, great place for it! by 0rnge (Sun 15th May 2022 6:54pm)
  • This. I no longer work there OP but I did during before and during covid. If you have a legitimate reason (such as somebody being unwell) to need to travel urgently, then call and ask if you can get it fast tacked for compassionate reasons. They do usually ask for evidence of the reason if you can get this. Good luck by 0rnge (Wed 18th May 2022 4:04pm)
  • Southern necropolis always feels a bit wild to me for how close it is to the centre. Maybe not exactly what you are looking for though! by 0rnge (Wed 25th May 2022 7:19pm)
  • I passed my theory in February and the earliest date for the practical was August by 0rnge (Wed 25th May 2022 8:24pm)
  • This is my worry, if I fail it will be another 6 months! Usually you can pick up a cancellation for the day or next day but if you use an instructor they might not be able to fit you in.. • It makes the anxiety of failing so much worse knowing you will have to scramble for another test by 0rnge (Fri 10th Jun 2022 9:06am)
  • My mini schnauzer has been attacked twice in glasgow green. He is on the longline, and usually comes when called but I have him on the line anyway so he comes back. Anyway, twice now I have been walking him and another dog runs up and jumps on him which he hates and freaks out. You ask owners to get their dog and they don’t care. Really annoys me because it stresses him out so much by 0rnge (Tue 21st Jun 2022 5:50pm)
  • My dog doesn’t like getting pounced on by other dogs. He cries and hides and tries to run away from them but cannot as they keep chasing him and don’t respond to their owner. I don’t see why I shouldn’t take him to the park a minute from my house because other people can’t control their dogs? At the point where I have to pick him up and said dogs continue to jump on ME is that not their problem? Or should I walk my dog exclusively on pavements for the rest of his life despite good behaviour on his part? by 0rnge (Thu 23rd Jun 2022 10:23am)
  • The stuff alongside glasgow green and up the Clyde is the giant variety. I’ve not been down the Kelvin in ages so can’t confirm! If the sap gets on your skin and is exposed to sun you will get mighty blisters. It’s not uncommon for dogs to be blinded by it either, so if you have a little foot tree star munchin dug like me keep them well away! by 0rnge (Thu 23rd Jun 2022 10:20am)
  • I wouldn’t mind if they didn’t shut off so much of the green for such a long time and the blue bridge access being removed for a few days is really annoying when you use the park daily. It’s basically the whole west side of the green for 3 weeks. by 0rnge (Fri 1st Jul 2022 12:33am)
  • On a funny note. I took my dog to dog park and some guys came in and started peeing on the trees. They got a shock when my 9kg schnauzer started defending his territory and chasing them. I don’t think their birds were impressed! by 0rnge (Fri 8th Jul 2022 3:19pm)
  • I live nearby too and don’t really get the hate either. When I walk my dog in the park the only interaction I have is with the odd person asking to pet him, being nice and cheerful etc. Even during the evening it’s not that bad. by 0rnge (Fri 8th Jul 2022 3:48pm)
  • 1. I have never had a problem walking my dog at night in glasgow. I don’t let him approach strangers though. 2. I’m based in the gorbals but use Hyndland Street vet. They are really good imo. They never try to push products on me etc, advice always seems to work out, easy to get appts, nice staff, is clean and bright inside. I have had 2 bad experiences with the Charing Cross animal hospital and will always travel out to Glasgow Uni small animal hospital in bearsden for anything serious now. 3. There are a few Facebook groups for dog meet-ups. Look for breed specific ones, I’m sure there will be a chihuahua one. If not there is puppy and dog play dates I think it’s called. I’m on the womens waking and hiking groups too and take my dog out to some walks. Also get your dog Instagram, I’ve met loads of dog friends that way. Visit the dog park if your dog is cool with it, loads of people talk to you there. To be honest I’ve found the best way to make friends is going to events via Facebook groups that align with my interests. Good luck for the move. Glasgow is a great city to have a dog in. by 0rnge (Sat 16th Jul 2022 12:06am)
  • They are great. My cat was paralysed in all four legs after jumping out of a window and breaking her spine, they had her walking a week later. My puppy took a bad sickness last year two and they were so kind to me too by 0rnge (Sat 16th Jul 2022 8:13pm)
  • I lock my bike outside m and s on argyle street for around an hour a week to do shopping. Never had a problem. Get a good bike lock - a D lock preferably. If money is an issue please head down to Bike for Good (they have a few different workshops now so have a look on their website). They will be able to kit you up with a decent lock for a fraction of the price. by 0rnge (Sat 16th Jul 2022 11:10pm)
  • Bike for good offering a bike buddying thing to help you go over your commute. Tips wise, cycle defensively. Don’t let cars push you into the gutter, cycle a meter from the kerb at least. If there is not enough room for a car to pass you safely (ie they would be squeezing past you) then take the lane (ride in the centre of the lane), this is the primary position and the safest to be in. You have a right to be there and ignore anybody who tells you otherwise. At junctions, take the centre of the lane. This discourages people from trying to overtake around you or cut you off. Always check behind your shoulder when turning or moving over. You do not have to use the cycle lane if it’s not safe. Ie if there are lots of parked cars, it’s winter (usually they are not gritted). You have a right to be on the road. Never filter up behind a bus. It’s very dangerous. I prefer riding on the road to pavements these days, you will get there! Ignore drivers who give you grief. by 0rnge (Sun 17th Jul 2022 8:07pm)
  • I used to live in Kinning park and cycled down PRW into the city. This was actually my first experience of city cycling when I moved to Glasgow! Very doable and same principles apply. My cycling experience changed massively when I learned to take the lane whenever I needed to and there are a lot of parked cars on PRW so do take the lane - you don’t want to be hit by a car door trust me (if you are ever hit by a door aim into the car not away from it, it will save you being hit by another car!!) If you don’t feel comfortable/safe in your position then take the lane, I can’t stress it enough. As long as you are in control of the situation you will be okay. Don’t let cars bully you - you have as much right to be cycling down the road in the primary position as a person in their car commuting to work. Congrats on your new job!! by 0rnge (Sun 17th Jul 2022 11:29pm)
  • Yes I agree with this. The bike box is good if you are already at the front but I really don’t like filtering in general as if the cars start moving you lose control of the situation. by 0rnge (Mon 18th Jul 2022 10:50am)
  • I’m going to suggest places near Glasgow Green where I live: us v them coffee, artrez, rose and grants, st lukes, baad in the barras, whistler on the green, van winkle, (west on the green say they are but they get really annoyed about dogs even putting paws on seats, so you define how dog friendly you need the place to be!! ) Southside wise we really like Marchtown (drinks/cheeseboards!) and the last rodeo was nice too. Both very dog friendly by 0rnge (Sat 23rd Jul 2022 12:42am)
  • Yes a good shout but I would not suggest going to one of their “dog yard” specific days. It was really hectic and disorganised compared to usual by 0rnge (Sat 23rd Jul 2022 12:46am)
  • Bike for good is having a cycling festival all month in August by 0rnge (Wed 3rd Aug 2022 9:22am)

  • If you are nearby gorbals area I can drop you off a food parcel. We also have the Community Grocery on Portland street, you pay an annual membership of a fiver and get to do a decent shop each week for £4. Have a look at them on Facebook or their website. They can also help with covering the membership cost if you are struggling https://communitygrocery.org.uk/how-we-can-help/ by 0rnge (Thu 18th Aug 2022 6:16pm)
  • My dog is not friendly to random dogs who come close (we have a trainer so working on it). All the time peoples dogs come up to him “oh he’s friendly don’t worry” or “you can let him off the lead my dog is friendly”. I always wonder what they are thinking when my dog is noticeably trying to attack their “friendly” dog by 0rnge (Fri 19th Aug 2022 10:09am)
  • My work has booked me train travel to London. Going glasgow to Edinburgh first at rush hour. To save a bit of money. Oh and I’ll be staying overnight and they can’t fork out the £7 premier inn asks for breakfast. Wonderful this WFH contract is by 0rnge (Fri 19th Aug 2022 10:07am)
  • I really dislike the Charing Cross emergency vet. I have had a bad experience with them twice. The bearsden small animal hospital I have always found much better in terms of care but compassion towards you as an owner by 0rnge (Fri 19th Aug 2022 10:12am)
  • I love this place. I travel from the gorbals to visit them after I moved by 0rnge (Fri 19th Aug 2022 10:11am)
  • Oh that’s good to know. They have booked me on LNER. The did send an email about Avanti to our northern staff so maybe they did this on purpose to avoid avanti and I’m just moaning! I’ve never been to London so hoping for a stress free trip by 0rnge (Fri 19th Aug 2022 1:06pm)
  • Yeah we got bought over in 2021 and things have been going downhill. I went part time at the start of this year so hoping my own business can eventually sustain us full time and I can leave. It is very noticeable how much cheaper they are compared to two years ago by 0rnge (Fri 19th Aug 2022 1:11pm)
  • I was in the barras today and they have a dog trader it would probably only be Saturday and Sunday though by 0rnge (Sat 27th Aug 2022 9:06pm)
  • I was knocked off my bike at the trongate by somebody trying to overtake me then realising there was a red light. Instead of stopping he just decided to plough into me. I had my dog on the bike who had a lot of injuries and could have died. The guy said I should have been looking .. I was riding in a straight line and only because I checked over my shoulder I managed to land out of the way of oncoming traffic when he hit me. I now ride even more defensively, taking primary position a lot of the time which seems to annoy them more which upsets me. What choice do we have though? When I give drivers more space many push it to limit and I don’t want to die. by 0rnge (Wed 31st Aug 2022 12:08pm)
  • I find more drivers are aggressive when I’m in primary. But when I’m at the side I’m not safe as they squeeze by. You can’t win. by 0rnge (Wed 31st Aug 2022 7:36pm)

  • I would highly recommend the Barras. I trade there every week and it has its slow moments but it is busier than a lot of people think. If you are there every week or so people come back to you too. There are a lot of crafters who come weekly or monthly. I think you would fit right in! If you have any questions DM me I would love to help! by 0rnge (Mon 12th Sep 2022 12:01pm)

  • Glasgow green is well lit from the blue bridge to saltmarket and alright lit if you make a circle back round via the monument. Just get a light on the dog. I do this route a lot in winter with mine. I tend to stick to the large grassy bits off the paths though as they are really open and have never had a problem, usually just runners and one or two other people about. by 0rnge (Tue 18th Oct 2022 11:31am)
  • Had mine in august. Was taken on the expressway and had a parallel park. You might be taken a different route and manoeuvre though by 0rnge (Mon 7th Nov 2022 10:04am)

  • You can also look at signing up to the community grocery. It has a £5 yearly membership fee and then you can get a £4 shop up to 3 times a week and that includes a range of fruit and veg. https://communitygrocery.org.uk/how-we-can-help/ by 0rnge (Fri 18th Nov 2022 9:57am)
  • Also please have a look at the community grocery which does a similar scheme to the govan pantry. They can help with the cost of membership too by 0rnge (Tue 22nd Nov 2022 3:36pm)
  • In city centre a lot of shops do, even ones that don’t advertise as dog friendly. Just ask - although my dog is small so that might make the difference (I don’t carry him though) Food places in the centre: stack and still, some Starbucks, rose and grants, spitfire coffee, the raven, lots of the pubs and restaurants in merchant city do also. Going more east there is st Luke’s, dry gate, us v them coffee, whistler on the green, artrez cafe on saltmarket The barras (Saturday and Sunday) is also very dog friendly by 0rnge (Wed 23rd Nov 2022 6:27pm)
  • I got their veg box for 6 months and honestly I found the service really rude when they consistently messed things up. When people complained on the Facebook group they would pull the “it’s not out fault! We have taken on lots of new customers during covid” card all the time I do think their prices are high as well which doesn’t help. I understand the margin on fruit and veg can be quite low but places like ashbys and roots and fruits tend to be cheaper (not cheap) by 0rnge (Fri 25th Nov 2022 11:12pm)
  • The doughnut shop at the barras. It’s made by the woman that works there and is amazing by 0rnge (Sun 27th Nov 2022 10:20pm)
  • Left my comfy, mostly work from home job due to bullying today. Feel really shit about it but it was affecting my MH long term. Not a great time to leave your job either. Going to put my all in my wee business and hopefully me and the dug will survive the winter by 0rnge (Wed 30th Nov 2022 11:24am)
  • Train to old kilpatrick is a lot cheaper and you can hike up the kilpatrick hills maybe? by 0rnge (Tue 6th Dec 2022 10:32am)
  • I run a stall there, it has changed a lot but it’s really getting good in a new way now. Over at London road they are doing a wee Christmas market by 0rnge (Wed 7th Dec 2022 10:55pm)
  • Council don’t help the situation at all with the closed shops. We have been waiting months to hear back on a closing date for an empty run down city property rental for our small business. Meanwhile across the street a big company managed to set up shop in one of their rentals in under a month from it going on market. by 0rnge (Sat 10th Dec 2022 12:00am)
  • Hatch in west end and neighbourhood in southside stock a lot of small business stuff, I think Partick mini mart too. Can I also suggest the barras market, it has come a long way and lots of small businesses there now if you are east end way. Thanks for shopping small, it makes a huge difference to us small business owners :) by 0rnge (Sat 10th Dec 2022 12:04am)

A lot of the medicines etc can be bought a lot less on Amazon or viovet etc If you haven’t already please also speak to your vet about your struggling with the costs and if their are any options for payment plans or other treatments etc, do not be afraid to get a 2nd opinion either Good luck by 0rnge (Thu 19th Jan 2023 1:14am)

  • When I travel to London I need them to open the gate from the connection, must be their system doesn’t pick certain routes / connections up by 0rnge (Fri 27th Jan 2023 6:48pm)
  • The random cycle lane thing really annoys me. You get drivers pointing at them / occasionally shouting abuse at you for not using a lane that randomly ends at a busy junction with no clear way for you to enter. You are safer taking up the lane with the rest of the traffic flow usually but they either don’t understand that or don’t care about your safety by 0rnge (Wed 1st Feb 2023 9:12am)
  • The only way to cycle on 90% of roads in glasgow is by taking the whole lane. If you give drivers a chance to pass you too close a lot of them will. I will endure angry drivers behind me if it means I get to live by 0rnge (Wed 1st Feb 2023 9:10am)
  • I went to Glasgow roller derby new skaters intake on Monday and my legs are dying today by 0rnge (Wed 1st Feb 2023 9:58am)
  • I am really sorry your bike was stolen OP. Bike for good are also starting a bike rental scheme so you can try and get in touch with them for something affordable until you get your bike back or a new one. They provide locks with it (you can also buy kryptonite locks in bike for good for reasonable prices for future reference) by 0rnge (Fri 3rd Feb 2023 12:08am)
  • Oh I’m sorry to hear that I’ve always had a good experience with them personally for repairs and servicing. My only negative is that they stopped the womens maintenance class at southside and don’t really reply to my questions on other engagement things they run. I think women on wheels do a bike loan too (not 100% sure though and what their requirements are). by 0rnge (Fri 3rd Feb 2023 4:01pm)
  • The people hurt most by this are people with ties to the area, be it those who live there or had in the past or have cultural ties. I also think if it was a statement by “terfs” by your definition, they would have taken all 3 boys instead of just two and also they would have had no reason to take the couch potatoes sculpture too. If it was targeted it was a targeted act against the people of the gorbals, why else would they also take couch potatoes? So I think it being targeted is unlikely and more just desperate people or vandals by 0rnge (Wed 8th Feb 2023 1:05am)
  • I’m just not sure exactly if it was an offensive term or not, thanks for clarifying that they call themselves that! Wasn’t making a statement with the commas sorry by 0rnge (Wed 8th Feb 2023 9:39am)
  • It’s really hard to cross the road on that street as a pedestrian too, especially up the top due to speed. I think the only pedestrian crossing is at the vet? And the island down the bottom but that’s almost useless. by 0rnge (Wed 8th Feb 2023 3:10pm)
  • There is a small junction outside my house that leads into a one way system. If you don’t indicate to enter im crossing the road and if you get annoyed I’ll just remind you that pedestrians have right of way when you are turning into a junction anyway. Also I love it when you start crossing the road and then they indicate at the last minute to let you know to get out of the way essentially. by 0rnge (Fri 10th Feb 2023 12:44am)
  • Came here to say this also. Have a very anxious dog who always has to go to the vet, they are amazing. I travel from the gorbals to them by 0rnge (Tue 14th Feb 2023 3:25pm)

  • To board dogs in your house you need a licence from council. You can contact the dog warden about the noise from the dogs and get advice from there. As she is registered (or should be) with council hopefully they can contact her by 0rnge (Mon 10th Apr 2023 11:14am)

  • So many flats have secure back courts, surrounded by neighbouring flats. I don’t understand why cycle parking isn’t built here (sheltered), or why new builds go up without dedicated cycle storage by 0rnge (Thu 27th Apr 2023 11:50am)

  • Mine is over 100 in gorbals including insurance. my wall developed a really big crack and I needed to get men out for to fix it. I had to pay it out of pocket as the insurance via factor wouldn’t cover it But best to reach out to yours directly so they can advise you by 0rnge (Wed 24th May 2023 10:08pm)
  • The gorbals really doesn’t need a Starbucks. If you drive you can go to the one at Polmadie. Gorbals housing association didn’t even know the planning application had been approved until recently either, and very few residents were notified of it by 0rnge (Sun 28th May 2023 12:13am)
  • As a resident of the gorbals I have to disagree. Compared to other areas of the city that don’t have dedicated cycle infrastructure, it is very cycle friendly due to all the traffic calming and one way systems. Also, the area where the Starbucks is proposed is behind the co op. Right beside the co op on crown street is a cafe (G5 Deli), new butchers (recently closed down but now taken over again!), two locally owned corner shops, a barber, a hairdressers and beauty salon, and a fish and chip shop being refurbished. So there are plenty of businesses in the area and lots of investment happening too, such as the gorbals ideas fund. In short we do not need nor want a Starbucks by 0rnge (Sun 28th May 2023 12:18am)
