  • If anyone has any information please get in touch! The family are worried sick. Still not able to get in touch with him and haven’t found any sign of his car anywhere by Pizza_1234 (Sun 12th Apr 2020 12:54am)
  • Thanks, no worries it’s always best to report to the police in the first instance!!! Will edit my comment by Pizza_1234 (Sun 12th Apr 2020 2:36am)
  • They are :( there’s CCTV footage of a man walking through George square and his sisters gone to check. They’re trying everything to find him. It’s out of character for him as well, he’s never done anything like this before by Pizza_1234 (Sun 12th Apr 2020 12:05pm)
  • Update: family have closure but not the news they were hoping for. Thanks everyone for your concerns. RIP Joseph ❀️ by Pizza_1234 (Sun 12th Apr 2020 3:03pm)
  • Thank you, I hope this comes as a reminder to people to check on their loved ones during this time because everything that’s going on just now with the pandemic and lockdown really affects people’s mental health and you might not realise until it’s too late πŸ˜” by Pizza_1234 (Sun 12th Apr 2020 5:13pm)
  • That’s ridiculous. I noticed stack and still aren’t allowing you to use the 50% discount if you take up one of their offers (2 for 1 etc) guarantee they’ll still claim the money back though! There’s definitely businesses taking advantage of the scheme, the terms/ rules are very clearly defined by HMRC and stated on the website, one of which is that it’s valid with other offers and promotions yet businesses aren’t obeying that. by Pizza_1234 (Tue 11th Aug 2020 4:12pm)
  • Yep they’ll probably put the 2 for 1 deal (I know that’s a promotion they have) down as the 50% discount but not call it that when they sell it to you so you think you’re getting 2 for 1 and 50% off. It’s misleading for sure. Anyways I’ve only went there once, found the pancakes pretty bland and really overpriced. Don’t plan on returning tbh. by Pizza_1234 (Tue 11th Aug 2020 9:36pm)
  • I must be! I was actually in primark last week and there was a boy with no face mask on coughing his lungs out with barely even an attempt to cover it and he just kept going and going. He was clearly quite sick. I’ve barely felt safe anywhere. by Pizza_1234 (Fri 21st Aug 2020 11:48pm)
  • No I called up to make a booking and they said they weren’t needed anymore I could just walk in! by Pizza_1234 (Sat 22nd Aug 2020 12:24am)
  • I was pretty sure it was compulsory for bars, does it also include beauty salons though? by Pizza_1234 (Sat 22nd Aug 2020 12:20am)
  • I went to Curry’s PC world in Finnieston about 2-3 weeks ago and you could touch the computers. They had hand sanitiser dotted around the shop. I will say though the staff weren’t great with following guidelines and they all weren’t wearing their masks properly, also not social distancing between each other and I had to show the guy at the checkout something on my phone (I was getting something price matched) and he fully took it and touched the screen and then his manager did the same to look through the webpage. I found that a bit distasteful. They could’ve asked me to show it to them myself so I didn’t have loads of hands on my phone. by Pizza_1234 (Wed 9th Sep 2020 10:41am)
  • As far as I can see all that’s been asked for here is a number. The post has since been updated to say “**Update: Please be patient if you have emailed, you will get a response confirming your details have been added to the list. This will be being send off to the NHS tomorrow morning and they will contact you with your appointment.” As far as I can see this is just compiling a list of available people for the NHS to arrange you an appointment on short notice, you aren’t specifically having to provide personal details to this man other than a phone number. by Pizza_1234 (Tue 18th May 2021 8:48pm)
  • However understandably people may have doubts, all I can do is share the post I saw. I don’t live in the postcodes myself and haven’t signed up so can’t certify anything here. by Pizza_1234 (Tue 18th May 2021 8:50pm)
  • Maybe it was the best they could do in a short space of time, I would happily hand over my phone number to anyone if it means I get the vaccine! No postcode has been asked for either. I assume that’s the job of the NHS to verify if they wish. by Pizza_1234 (Tue 18th May 2021 11:43pm)
  • It’s due to a surge in cases in Glasgow. However, it doesn’t fully make sense as where I live (east ren) actually apparently now has higher rates than Glasgow or something and yet there’s no surge vaccinations by Pizza_1234 (Wed 19th May 2021 12:51am)
  • Signed up! Says it may take a few weeks for the appointment to come through. Take it there’s no sneaky way of getting one sooner? I saw the comments on the post from yesterday about calling to book for the vaccine but it seems as though they weren’t accepting people. by Pizza_1234 (Mon 24th May 2021 10:13am)
  • Had a look on the NHS Scotland twitter, it says “If you are 18 - 29 years old and do not register using this option, you will still receive your blue envelope in the post.” I get the impression that all this is really doing is allowing you to get appointment details via text/ sms rather than through the post. I’m not sure that it’s giving any priority to getting the vaccine.. unsure though! I just get the feeling this might just be a way of pleasing our age group so we stick to the rules etc by Pizza_1234 (Mon 24th May 2021 11:25am)
  • You can reschedule so they can give someone else your appointment. by Pizza_1234 (Mon 24th May 2021 2:50pm)
  • You’re right by Pizza_1234 (Mon 24th May 2021 11:40pm)
  • Had the same issue. Have received 2 vaccine letters for the same person who doesn’t live here. by Pizza_1234 (Wed 26th May 2021 3:29pm)
  • I would post on gumtree? We posted our old sofas on there and they were gone the same day. by Pizza_1234 (Wed 26th May 2021 3:31pm)
  • How are the queues so long especially with all the missed appointments? They need to organise it better that’s ridiculous by Pizza_1234 (Fri 28th May 2021 6:55pm)
  • So protocol is to give Pfizer where possible and if it’s not available you are within your rights to reschedule the appointment so you can get Pfizer or whatever vaccine that’s suitable for under 40 by Pizza_1234 (Fri 28th May 2021 11:17pm)
  • My cousin went today and apparently there was a 3 hour wait.. he ended up leaving. No wonder there’s so many missed appointments! They should at least make people aware before they go, it’s utterly ridiculous to give someone an appointment time thats 3 hours off and then wonder why no ones showing up by Pizza_1234 (Mon 31st May 2021 5:45pm)
  • 3 hour queues are not the norm in most places. You are given an appointment time for a reason. It was also the hottest day of the year, people would not have come with suncream, books, water and may have had work or other commitments they didn’t factor into their day. You can’t just expect people to wait 3 hours unexpectedly. The least they could’ve done was inform people of the queues. There’s no excuses. by Pizza_1234 (Mon 31st May 2021 9:21pm)
  • That’s great they’re being seen but waiting outside on the hottest day of the year for 3 hours will not suit most people. They should’ve informed people of the wait and told them to come a few hours later. The fault here is that they didn’t have enough vaccinators. They should’ve adjusted appointments accordingly but didn’t, the whole thing is terribly organised. I’m just responding to the comment around people being unhappy of which they should be but the specific behaviours you mention are obviously wrong. by Pizza_1234 (Mon 31st May 2021 11:46pm)
  • My cousin got one yesterday.. she’s in her 20’s (greater Glasgow area!) I signed up almost as soon as the registration went live and haven’t had anything yet apart from the confirmation text/ email by Pizza_1234 (Tue 1st Jun 2021 4:17pm)
  • You can also do it without taking any travel insurance out (if it still works), there was a hack posted online that I followed. If I remember right you essentially went through the quote process without ever doing the final step of paying and it still let you apply for the 2 for 1. by Pizza_1234 (Mon 7th Jun 2021 9:40am)
  • I second joining gal pals - Glasgow and surrounding areas. There’s also another group “Glasgow girls club” you could join ☺️ by Pizza_1234 (Mon 19th Jul 2021 5:29pm)
  • There’s a new rooftop bar and restaurant in Glasgow, VEGA. Think it’s pretty big, would probably be your best bet. by Pizza_1234 (Wed 18th Aug 2021 2:17am)
  • I really loved my experience studying there, the campus is lovely and so modern and the facilities are really good. They have Starbucks and Costa, I also found the food options in the canteen really varied - they have different stalls with some different cuisines. I found the lecturers all very helpful and friendly. My main advice would be just to engage with your teachers/ lecturers and attend your scheduled classes. In one of my modules the attendance was poor and the lecturer decided anyone who had under 50% attendance would have to resit the assessment which upset quite a few people.. They’re also the ones marking your work so you generally just want to make a good impression of yourself and make sure you get all the advice you can on what they’re looking for from you in your submissions πŸ™‚ by Pizza_1234 (Mon 24th Jan 2022 1:39am)
  • I had a good experience studying at the business school there so I’m guessing it may depend on the course. by Pizza_1234 (Tue 25th Jan 2022 1:18am)
  • Thank you I’m aware of this but don’t think we have it. Our neighbours a few doors down have this as an option when you’re in their house as a wifi you can connect to but there’s nothing on my available networks so I don’t think I can make use of it by Pizza_1234 (Wed 26th Jan 2022 4:43pm)
  • There isn’t 5G in our area if that’s what you mean? Cause we all mostly have 5G phones but we can only get 3G in our house. by Pizza_1234 (Wed 26th Jan 2022 4:41pm)
  • Thanks for the advice. We’ve been through every network provider honestly, it’s just an area with really poor signal and our house is surrounded by lots of trees. I got 1.2mbps on that test 😐 by Pizza_1234 (Wed 26th Jan 2022 4:58pm)
  • Thanks for the advice! We’ve tried using a signal booster before but it didn’t seem to make a difference by Pizza_1234 (Wed 26th Jan 2022 5:07pm)
  • Yeah by neighbour I mean a few houses down so you couldn’t access from our house! We managed to get a portable dongle, having a lot of trouble setting it up but hopefully it’s going to work :) by Pizza_1234 (Wed 26th Jan 2022 6:33pm)
  • Issue with phone tethering is I’m on 15gb data a month, most are on data plans lower than that. I looked at the cost of boosting it for this month and the only option is to pay £30 for every extra 12gb. I’d estimate I’d probably have to buy that a couple times just to get enough data I’d need to last. So it’s not really a viable option! by Pizza_1234 (Wed 26th Jan 2022 6:42pm)
  • That’s really good πŸ™ƒ I looked at upgrading my contract as it’s only 12 months and even just paying an extra few quid a month could make it worth it if I can get an extra load of data this month but I don’t even have that option as I only just took the contract out, I have to wait until the 3rd March before that’s an option apparently by Pizza_1234 (Wed 26th Jan 2022 7:07pm)
  • Thanks it’s talk talk so believe they are, the last time it got delayed we were able to get them to potstpone it but this time we only got told the night before and apparently talk talk need 7 days notice. The other issue is the max speed we get with a bt line is horrendous which is why we jumped at virgin, there’s been so many times where if 1 or 2 people are on a work or uni call then other people have to stop doing any kind of heavy internet (or it just won’t even work for them). My brother had some uni exams at Christmas and no one could be on a teams call while he was doing it because he couldn’t get wifi to work properly if someone was on a video call It’s just been nowhere near adequate for our needs since covid came around by Pizza_1234 (Wed 26th Jan 2022 7:20pm)
  • Thanks everyone for the advice, a very techy friend got us a setup that allows us pickup 4G from outside and bring it into the house which seems to be working πŸ™‚ Meanwhile we got hold of a Virgin engineer that was working on the street and he said the issue can be resolved in a few days and our install date brought much further forward and he took our details to escalate everything and said customer service are useless in these scenarios because they have no idea of what’s going on by Pizza_1234 (Fri 28th Jan 2022 12:23am)
  • Oh god I have a story about that place. I was waiting to get a table and there was a women in front of me with her child who was in wheelchair. I can’t remember the exact wording of what happened but the waiter that was bringing her to the table (I think they may have also been the manager) said “does it want a child’s menu” (or something along those lines) and the parents rightly were furious and I was just shocked and disgusted by Pizza_1234 (Wed 2nd Feb 2022 10:21pm)
  • Even at that anything less than once every 60 minutes would arguably be pretty pointless. Imagine you go on a night out with friends and they leave the club at 2am and the next train is at 3:30am. Are you going to wait an hour and a half or just get a taxi? I think 95% of people would opt for the taxi. Also how empty would the train inevitably be at that time and would it be safe? I’m not sure as a young girl I’d feel safe getting on a mostly empty train at whatever hour in the morning. Although I think something should be done because if it weren’t for my parents having cars that are also thankfully LEZ compliant (which not everyone will have) I can get home from nights out when you have 3 different taxi apps open and yet none can find a driver in all of Glasgow. by Pizza_1234 (Mon 10th Jul 2023 6:13pm)
  • Theres some exemptions to this, I’m Scottish but grew up in Ireland. SAAS still paid for my tuition fees when my family moved back here when I was 18. I never got the reason for it though but my parents were able to fill out a form and I know one of the questions was did we have a house here which we still had and had been renting the whole time we lived abroad. So it’s worth enquiring. by Pizza_1234 (Sat 29th Jul 2023 10:08pm)
  • Yes that was also true actually but believe it or not if you have a british passport you are supposed to have lived in Scotland for the past 3 years prior to applying. If I’d applied for an Irish passport when I lived there (something I’ll regret for the rest of my life) I could’ve then applied as an EU student and wouldn’t have had any hassle. At the time I was applying anyways there was a different route for british passport holders and for people with a (non British) eu passport. It was a stressful situation. by Pizza_1234 (Sat 29th Jul 2023 10:21pm)
  • My parents moved to Glasgow from Ireland when I was 18 (just finished school) and so I coped really well because all my friends were going off to uni in other places so I wasn’t missing much if that makes sense. My younger siblings on the other hand really struggled. My brother who would’ve been about 16 had to go into a year group with younger kids (making him the oldest in his year) because of the difference in curriculum and didn’t want to be behind when it came to preparing for exams. So he really struggled making friends and the culture shock was also quite big moving from a small rural town to Glasgow. They just really missed their friends and way of life. Honestly from my perspective, the impact is pretty huge and we only moved from Ireland which is only an hour flight away. by Pizza_1234 (Wed 2nd Aug 2023 11:20pm)
  • Thank you. Yeah me being a hypochondriac is no help! I read some warning stories from people who said they had sudden hearing loss in one ear, were told it’s probably just an infection or blockage or whatever and subsequently from ENT appointment discovered had they had steroid treatment quicker they could’ve regained more of their hearing. by Pizza_1234 (Fri 11th Aug 2023 12:49pm)
  • Thank you for the advice. We do kind of feel she’s been fobbed of a bit being given decongestants and told that her ear will suddenly pop one day and her hearing will be back again in that ear. It just feels like a lot of wishful thinking with no real diagnosis. She’s going to talk to a GP at the surgery so we will see what comes of that. by Pizza_1234 (Fri 11th Aug 2023 1:33pm)
  • We’re not trying to waste anyone’s time or burden the NHS here but she wasn’t actually given a diagnosis of any kind and was told to go back in 5-7 days if it hasn’t come back, by which point if she did need an urgent referral to an ENT and steroid treatment was needed it would likely be too late. by Pizza_1234 (Fri 11th Aug 2023 1:56pm)
  • Yeah as far as we are aware there is no such a thing as private A&E anywhere in Scotland. Otherwise my dad might not have had to wait 25 minutes to be seen with a heart attack and a few weeks later when he started to get similar symptoms, he almost left A&E because the wait was so long he realised he would be dead by now had it been another heart attack. Also to add to the point others have made about private, it’s not even quick anymore. You’re waiting weeks now and sometimes months. So many people are going that way now. by Pizza_1234 (Fri 11th Aug 2023 2:52pm)
  • As far as I’m aware the only other symptom she has is a feeling of pressure in the ear which started a couple days ago. Only when a colleague called her in work yesterday and she picked up the phone did she realise she couldn’t hear anything. She gets occasional episodes of vertigo so it’s maybe worth ruling that possibility out with her as if she did feel dizzy she might just put it down to vertigo. Although I’m sure she would’ve mentioned if that was the case. by Pizza_1234 (Fri 11th Aug 2023 3:23pm)
  • That’s good advice thank you. My mums in her mid 50’s so not really at an age where you’d expect to see full hearing loss I don’t think! And certainly not suddenly anyways by Pizza_1234 (Fri 11th Aug 2023 3:28pm)
  • Update on this: the GP who my mum spoke to also said this is common and will go away eventually and she agrees with the nurse practitioner and said it would be crazy to see an ENT. She has a GP appointment for next Thursday to check if things have improved. We’ll just wait and see what happens. Thank you for all the advice! by Pizza_1234 (Fri 11th Aug 2023 3:43pm)
  • I see what you’re saying. However this person is only showing concern and trying to help. I appreciate them doing so when they could’ve stayed quiet to avoid having to identify themselves on Reddit, despite what guidance may say. by Pizza_1234 (Fri 11th Aug 2023 5:38pm)
  • Thank you for the warning. I’m so sorry to hear that happened. Unfortunately there isn’t really anything I can do. My mum says me keeping talking about it is causing her “unnecessary anxiety and worry” and she only wants to listen to the doctor so my hands are tied unfortunately. I don’t appreciate getting screamed at for trying to help her :/ I’m just really hopeful the doctor hasn’t got it wrong.. by Pizza_1234 (Sat 12th Aug 2023 10:43am)
  • My god that’s just terrible, thank god for that man. We honestly had a similar experience when my dad had the heart attack, we have a cardiologist in the family who we were keeping updated. He actually kept saying “no you must be mishearing things, these wait times would lose me my license to practice in the US that’s so dangerous” but no we weren’t mishearing things when diagnosed with a heart attack, the NHS says it’s safe to discharge you same day and come back in 6-8 weeks for further investigation. Anyways this family member also happens to know cardiologists working in the NHS and got in touch and said “what the f is going on this isn’t what we were taught in cardiology training” and after persistence things eventually got sorted but it shouldn’t have to be like this and my dad was one of the lucky ones as was your grandmother just happening to be able to get hold of an ambulance driver. by Pizza_1234 (Sat 12th Aug 2023 2:40pm)
  • Look into grants and hardship funds at your university. Fun fact my mums friend is a lecturer at a university and they get hardly any applicants for grants so any application with any kind of a mild sob story will likely get you one. Also when I was starting university, we were actively told that not enough people apply for the hardship funds. As far as we were told they can grant them for anything like you can’t pay a bill or you can’t afford a laptop. by Pizza_1234 (Sun 13th Aug 2023 7:12pm)
  • I can’t believe how expensive Glasgow taxis are. I didn’t realise until I was in Portugal a few weeks ago and it cost €11 (£9.50) for a 20 minute taxi from the airport to our accommodation. Getting around the city centre a 20 minute taxi would cost about €7 (£6). by Pizza_1234 (Sun 13th Aug 2023 7:30pm)
  • Yeah I don’t know why we don’t have more variety of stores. Especially when it comes to fashion - there’s plenty of river island stores, new look, H&M but not a bershka or pull and bear in sight. by Pizza_1234 (Sun 13th Aug 2023 8:03pm)
  • Yep! There’s just too many of the same shops. Same goes for next. by Pizza_1234 (Sun 13th Aug 2023 8:59pm)
  • It’s not really the same though. You have to pay for delivery usually unless you spend a high amount. Then it comes after a week (if it doesn’t get lost in the post) and you find out the material isn’t at all what you expected or the colour is a different shade or it doesn’t fit how you expected. And then you have to pack it up again and take it back to the post office and wait till the retailer receives it, processes it and refunds it. Online shopping has a place but I just don’t think it will ever fully replace in person shopping. The likes of bershka and H&M are also similar, I don’t see any reason why they couldn’t have both. by Pizza_1234 (Sun 13th Aug 2023 9:06pm)
  • Just to update on this, she went to the GP again today for a follow up appointment and this time they found fluid inside her ear. They said it’s best to wait a month, if it still hasn’t cleared then they would start looking at treatment but they’re quite invasive and so say it’s better to see if it will clear up on its own. by Pizza_1234 (Thu 17th Aug 2023 12:04pm)
  • My cousin is really ill just now and can’t stop vomiting and my aunt who is a teacher said loads of kids in her school have had it, my mum was just warning us about it today. It’s not an odd question. by Pizza_1234 (Sun 20th Aug 2023 11:00pm)
  • I mean people permanently damage/ lose their hearing from gigs or end up with tinnitus etc. because of the noise being too loud, it’s something that doesn’t seem to get taken seriously enough. by Pizza_1234 (Wed 6th Sep 2023 2:08am)
  • My mum went into Tesco with my little sister and her friend at the time and pleaded to the manager and got it cancelled on pity. If you have a receipt from Tesco you could also just show them that. They do have the ability to cancel it. by Pizza_1234 (Sun 1st Oct 2023 11:19pm)
  • My work posts their apprenticeship opportunities in Scotland on apprenticeships.scot (that’s where most companies do) generally there isn’t an age limit on apprenticeships and I can’t speak for all companies but the apprentices in my work jump into solid stable careers pretty quickly because they’ve had the benefit of gaining lots of experience alongside their qualifications. Definitely a great route to go down IMO by Pizza_1234 (Sun 1st Oct 2023 11:17pm)
  • I went on Monday last, the drive thru queue was chaos and really long. Instore wasn’t half as bad, a pro tip is to order on their website for pickup instore. I only waited about 10 minutes all in honestly. Food was really good. I just ordered from the savers menu which was £2.99 for 2 tenders and chips but the tenders were huge tbf. Think it was like £1.25 extra for a coke with that. by Pizza_1234 (Mon 2nd Oct 2023 1:23am)
