  • You need to request to be institutionalised for your own protection. You can voluntarily section yourself to receive treatment. Unlike a court ordered sectioning you will have far more rights to leave. Contrary to belief, instrituonal facilities are fairly pleasant for the treatment of non aggressive patients. Remember that 999 is also for mental health crisis. There are specialised mental health units with the police and ambulance service. If you ever do feel that you may harm yourself then call for the police. I promise they won't be there to harm or arrest you. They'll normally be accompanied by a mental health nurse or an officer specifically trained to assist with deeacalating mental health crisis. They're also there primarily protect the NHS staff. Do you have anywhere you can socialise? I have clinical depression and have been suicidal this year and have a 10 year stint of depressive thoughts. Sometimes just a cup of tea in a different environment helped take the strain away. Do you ride a bike? Motor and pedal bikes are amazing for getting some alone time to shift your mind to road concentration rather than depression. Enjoy the ride. Take the time to relax. by tiredhealthcareboi (Sat 17th Sep 2022 2:24am)

  • I'm going to look in to that one. The tunnel network is actually confirmed! It's primarily old mining tunnels, Victoria walkways, sub surface shared heat/hot water systems, and old cold war bunkers which i think gets used as storage by the council now. Apparently there's a bunker under George Square that was an old nuclear command post for the local government and senior figures to coordinate the recovery if Glasgow or the UK ever came under nuclear strike and communication was cut off from central government. by tiredhealthcareboi (Sat 17th Sep 2022 8:37am)
  • I'd love to do a tour of these. I find all of this very fascinating. When thinking of the victorian pathways, I mostly refer to the Clyde crossings by tiredhealthcareboi (Sat 17th Sep 2022 10:14pm)

  • Yes. Yes they are. Same for Central and Queens Street. I have literally been laughed at by staff when pushing a wheelchair users and attempting to navigate. They will have 4 wankers standing around doing nothing and somehow being smug about it. • They'll need to check if removal is needed. Sometimes wisdom teeth will come through on their own after a period of pain. It'll also depend on if it's safer to remove or leave it in place due to the risk of infection. Unfortunately it can take a few days. If they don't get back to you after a few days give them a call. Not all dentists can perform wisdom tooth removal due to the surgical complications. It may also be worth calling your regular dentist if you haven't already done so. I've been in the same position as you bro. Stay strong, teeth stuff sucks. by tiredhealthcareboi (Sat 1st Oct 2022 12:17pm)

  • Barrhead definitely isn't glasgow and not even remotely close to it. It takes 20 minutes down the M8 to get to Glasgow and our neighbouring areas are all our own council area and Pausley. by tiredhealthcareboi (Sat 1st Oct 2022 12:22pm)
  • That sucks bro. If I were closer I'd give you some help. Sometimes whacking it like a battery generator over and over can do the trick but depends on the bike. You sure the rain hasn't gotten in to anything essential? by tiredhealthcareboi (Sat 1st Oct 2022 8:16pm)

  • Not necessarily hypnotherapy but most pharmacies have a stop smoking program for free. Your best bet is weaning yourself off it with lozingers and gum. Or vape. by tiredhealthcareboi (Sat 1st Oct 2022 10:58pm)
  • Incorrect. If you can't quit or struggle to quit then it's a valid and proven alternative to cigarettes. At least as a stopgap measure it'll decrease the total health impact. by tiredhealthcareboi (Sun 2nd Oct 2022 12:40am)
  • I started smoking for a while after my mother passed away. Woke up one day remembering why I stopped smoking and feeling like an ashtray and sick and was able to switch straight back to the vape with no hassle. Damn bro £80? You could probably get cheaper than that. Guessing you're a cloud chaser or running your mod at some pretty low ohms and high v? by tiredhealthcareboi (Sun 2nd Oct 2022 4:50pm)

  • Would it not be prudent to sort out your employment situation here prior to looking for apartments? It's going to depend heavily on how much you earn and how much your partner earns. The university might be able to sort you guys out with student accommodation but it's very expensive compared to renting a flat. The western central belt has the majority of Scotlands population and everything is interconnected. Try looking for flats in places like Paisley, Renfrew, East Renfrewshire, Dumbarton. You're no more than about 40 minutes by bus from Glasgow max by bus usually and even less by train. If you drive it may be worth checking the requirements to use your license in the UK and then take your car through the EuroTunnel or by ferry. That might make commuting from further afield easier if you have to get accommodation further than the areas I've mentioned. Alternatively maybe you should stay where you are and your partner can come over. It's just under two hours to get from Glasgow or Edinburgh Airport to most countries on the coast of Europe so even if you two have to live apart for a while then its not exactly 'long distance' as you can get by plane to mainland Europe than travelling to England by train. by tiredhealthcareboi (Mon 3rd Oct 2022 8:03pm)
  • There's absolutely no such thing as a 'top' University. Universities are graded in their accomplishment in specific fields - Cali is one of the best for business sciences and fields. University snobhood is fucking stupid for anything not relating to STEM, law or medicine. It all has to follow the same academic requirements to have their degrees recognised and accredited. by tiredhealthcareboi (Mon 3rd Oct 2022 8:07pm)
  • Mate have you even got a degree? I bet you're someone who fannies around on Instagram or tiktok selling shitty products to absolute morons if you consider yourself a 'marketeer' or you're in some stupid pyramid scheme type situation thinking you're the top shit while being as useless to society as a pack of broken condoms. You sound like one of those retarded gen Z who thinks the sigma grindset and working non stop is somehow an accomplishment. by tiredhealthcareboi (Mon 3rd Oct 2022 8:09pm)
  • So you're either an obnoxious Glasgow or Strathy graduate who thinks their degree is more important, or someone who wasted their time at GCU and now blames your university for a lack of career opportunities. You sound salty over GCU for whatever reason. by tiredhealthcareboi (Mon 3rd Oct 2022 8:17pm)
  • Before going back to uni to do nursing I was a hiring manager for a fairly successful and large bluechip financial company. Never had I once cared about what university someone came from. Especially not in marketing and business management roles when it's more about the personality and mindset of the interviewee. No one cares what university you go to once you have a record of employment, and most employers don't base their hiring practices on universities unless it's for some very specific roles relating to the expertise of that university. If you're a graduate and you're getting knocked back that will be more to do with you as an individual or the grading of your degree than the name of your university. by tiredhealthcareboi (Mon 3rd Oct 2022 8:15pm)
  • Temple way is a predestination/cycle area not a road... by tiredhealthcareboi (Wed 5th Oct 2022 12:31am)
  • Call the police. There are legal limitations for speed of ebikes. If they're motorised electric bikes (as in motorbikes with electric engines) then that is a serious offence and their bikes will be scrapped. If they are ebikes (electric pedal bikes) then there are also expectations applied and the police can treat it with an antisocial order and will take them away. They may not be that fast. Smaller vehicles appear much faster than cars but it's still a dick move. by tiredhealthcareboi (Wed 5th Oct 2022 12:30am)
  • Then why are you bringing cars in to it if its a pedestrian area... by tiredhealthcareboi (Wed 5th Oct 2022 1:42am)
  • Buses are fine with pets. Many people take their dogs on leashes, and others animals are usually in travel carriers. Shared a bus ride with a parrot once when it's owner was taking them to the vet. That was possibly the best bus ride of my life 😂 by tiredhealthcareboi (Wed 5th Oct 2022 12:58pm)
  • John Lewis normally has curtains for this, and if they don't have them they can custom them for a cost. by tiredhealthcareboi (Wed 5th Oct 2022 1:35pm)
  • It's really hard to fake a switch. Just have them show it off and make sure everything works. A lot of people upgraded to the OLED model or switched to the docked model from the lite so there are a bunch of older (BUT STILL THE SAME TECH INSIDE AS CURRENT) models out there for sale, especially now that lockdowns are done. Also welcome to the Switch family! You'll fucking love it bro. Gaming has never been so comfy. by tiredhealthcareboi (Sun 9th Oct 2022 5:52am)
  • Avoid animal crossing. Me and the Mrs picked it up and it's nothing but repetitive grind without any of the fun stuff from previous games. Pick up nintendo plus - you get access to a lot of older console titles. Hades is super addictive. Crash bandicoot is super fun on the switch, so is Rayman. Loads of arcade titles on the nintendo store. If you like pokemon, Arceus and Brilliant Sapphire are the way to go. by tiredhealthcareboi (Sun 9th Oct 2022 8:06am)
  • Never played it but I have heard nothing but good things about the LOZ franchise on the switch. You should pick up breath of the wild too, people still gush over that game and I think copies are fairly cheap now. If you go for the docked version definitely get a controller because the one that comes with it is absolutely horrible to use by tiredhealthcareboi (Sun 9th Oct 2022 11:37am)
  • You can buy the switch itself if you only want it for handheld. All versions work without the dock by tiredhealthcareboi (Sun 9th Oct 2022 12:43pm)
  • You get a lot of people who sell switches without the Dock because they lose them or break them or toss them away. The switch lite is the standalone version that comes without the Dock or controller sections as standard by tiredhealthcareboi (Sun 9th Oct 2022 11:41pm)

  • In Scotland you can self referral to your local counselling service. All of these are free. Check to see who provides yours. RaMH is our local provider. You don't need to consult with a GP prior. by tiredhealthcareboi (Wed 12th Oct 2022 8:07am)
  • The living life like is your best option immediately if you're not at risk of self harm, suicide or drug misuse. If you ever experience a mental health crisis then call 999 - the police and NHS are both available and trained to handle immediate and serious breakdowns. Scotland has a policy of open door access to mental health services. I'd still consult with your GP as they may be able to assist with immediate mood stabilising in the form of medication. As someone who has been through the mental health process far too many times in my life the most important thing is talking with others about whatever you're experiencing. It's too often we try to keep our problems strictly to ourselves and medical professionals. If you have a support network make sure they know you are struggling. It's nothing to be ashamed of. If you don't have one already then there are many groups and places that are open to those struggling with periods of poor mental health. Part of therapy and counselling will assist on how to express and examine what you're feeling and why you're feeling that way. Don't struggle alone. It can feel isolating and lonely when you struggle from a period of poor mental health. I promise you're not alone. Don't feel ashamed and don't feel guilt over how you feel. Reach out to family and friends, take the time you need for yourself. Mental health is still health and never be afraid to take time away from work for yourself. If you're a student, your student union and institution should have its own mental health services or support network. by tiredhealthcareboi (Wed 12th Oct 2022 8:19am)
  • I see you may be a student, you may be able to contact your college or university student services. They may have programs and other facilities dedicated just for students. by tiredhealthcareboi (Wed 12th Oct 2022 8:22am)
  • It's good to let them know. Universities and colleges are fairly adaptable for students suffering from mental health problems; it can help as if your mental health gets in the way of your studies then they will know it's because of that and not a lack of effort or dedication. At the very least them knowing means they have an understanding of your situation. by tiredhealthcareboi (Wed 12th Oct 2022 8:39am)
  • It can be very frightening to start and feel like a chain around the mind and the soul, but things do get better once we find out how we can improve and adapt the things that drag us down. We have a large number of services for mental health. It won't be a quick process, normally it's a slow and steady pace rather than a race to the finish line. But that also allows us the time to process and reflect (which will be a large part of CBT). Remember that long journeys often have a few potholes and speed bumps along the way but it doesn't make the overall journey any less enjoyable. Its okay to not be okay. We all experience it throughout our lives, especially when younger and trying to find your foundation in life. I was suicidal and self harming at 18. Now I live a perfectly happy life at 28. If there was one piece of advice I could give myself back then it is that life is full of many wonders and many joys and that the sun will always shine through the clouds eventually. I've been though the process. It can be hard. But it's worth it - you deserve to be happy and healthy. by tiredhealthcareboi (Wed 12th Oct 2022 8:36am)
  • My dad is a bus driver and right now they're absolutely drained of drivers. It's not worth being a bus driver for all the hassle, especially on the rougher routes. Long hours, terrible schedules. A lot of drivers quit during covid and went on to drive trucks instead. There's also a lot of issues with buses on school routes being overloaded by school children using their new entitlement cards for short or pointless journeys but such large numbers getting on at once that it's delaying some service times. A lot of drivers are also tired of having to deal with junkies who get on for free but treat their buses like their personal social club and threaten drivers when they try to evict them. A lot of drivers are old and aging and eventually they fail their medicals and can no longer continue to drive. Those numbers aren't being replaced because there is no incentive to being a bus driver compared to driving for amazon or getting a full HGV for trucks and then getting the massive sign on bonuses and better wages and conditions. The only reason my dad hasn't quit is because he's too old to want to find another job. And right now there's an insane number of routes that often run empty or near empty but companies can't reduce services because people aren't willing to wait more than 10 minutes for a bus if the route has been every 10 minutes before. by tiredhealthcareboi (Fri 14th Oct 2022 12:16am)
  • The drivers can't normally turn off their radars. Normally if the bus goes off route it will stop tracking as they only show on the app when on their assigned course. Sometimes buses start at different points depending if drivers are coming off their break to start their next route schedule. It's unlikely they skip the route as this is heavily tracked but I'd complain as McGills actually takes it pretty seriously.. by tiredhealthcareboi (Fri 14th Oct 2022 12:22am)
  • It's because there isn't a unified union for bus drivers. The government has a direct hand in managing Scotrail but they don't have the same control over private bus companies. At least for Glasgow and the western area, the buses are managed by SPT and not directly by the Scottish government directly. by tiredhealthcareboi (Fri 14th Oct 2022 12:25am)
  • I thought they had more powers to reassign routes to different companies or to take over services and use a provider of last resort. It seems I am out of date with their authority. Yikes, it looks like they had their power stripped back. by tiredhealthcareboi (Fri 14th Oct 2022 2:07pm)
  • I genuinely wish my dad would find another job but he's stable where he is and doesn't want to look at switching. by tiredhealthcareboi (Fri 14th Oct 2022 2:22pm)
  • I tip a a pound or two extra, but I live in a small town and get the same drivers all the time and because I'm a local and regular they don't take the piss with my travel distances and route. by tiredhealthcareboi (Fri 14th Oct 2022 2:26pm)
  • Ah, there are a few SPT services running here. I always thought SPT had a much more substantial role in ensuring the stability of service. Kinda shitty that it has to go to Edinburgh for things to change. by tiredhealthcareboi (Fri 14th Oct 2022 3:02pm)
  • I lost my mother to covid and generally I just don't care any more. Nothing good came of the early pandemic mentality; no groundbreaking sense of community continued; no appreciation for the NHS or social care. Nothing; no change in how we treat others or any greater appreciation of life. Humans are fucking gross. For a species of such depth we've allowed ourselves to become automatons to the system. People all rushing back to work. No wage increases. Treating those who kept the country going like shit and just going back to the same stupid shit that we could have stopped from the break the pandemic gave us from the status quo. Returning to normality actually did a lot more harm than good for me. Not because of the return to freedom or because I was especially fond of lockdown, but because when you were hopeful we could have had a new level of humanity working together and local communities being more connected to then see that fuck all has changed it really makes you wonder what the fucking point in life is when we've clearly lost the ability to evolve. It's a constant reminder of how vapid people are when you've lost someone dear to you from a virus that people don't give a fuck about any more. If it weren't for having some kind of path in life I'd likely just swallow the bullet and wrap the noose around my neck. What's worse? Unlike other periods of mass trauma there is no massive show of grief. There are no mass wakes and ceremony of the grieving. Just expected to go back to normal and ignore the last two years. by tiredhealthcareboi (Sun 16th Oct 2022 11:10am)
