  • To what end? Hiding yer auld Da’s Avon stockpile? What possible purpose could a small network of tunnels lying shallow under a major city centre serve? None is the answer. Twit. by Badyk (Tue 8th Jan 2019 11:49pm)
  • Deadly serious. However, I had had a couple of cans last night and therefore apologise for calling /u/BraveSirRobin a twit but to call this some sort of OPSEC compromise is preposterous. Glasgow would be obliterated in an all out nuclear exchange along with Faslane, Coulport etc. and shallow tunnels would be useless. by Badyk (Wed 9th Jan 2019 12:22pm)

  • Running is tough on your hips and since you haven’t been out for a while you’ve probably just bruised/tweaked soft tissue. Take an ibuprofen (if you can) do some light stretching focusing on hip flexors, hamstrings, groin and piriformis/buttocks. The yoga pose ‘down dog’ is excellent for loosening up your whole system. Take it handy and stop if it’s painful. Source: Am not medical but have had lots of running injuries. by Badyk (Wed 13th Feb 2019 8:51am)

You can follow this to either MoC or Lennoxtown and pickup the Crow Road from there. by Badyk (Thu 25th Jul 2019 11:39am)

  • I think FB is the answer, at least to get you up and running. There are a ton of local groups around Glasgow. Get your profile in order, clear and concise info on services offered, intros/pics of your team, case studies, reviews etc. Incentivise existing clients to recommend you on local groups. Advertise a prize draw where you harvest emails for a discount or a daft gift. Good luck! by Badyk (Sat 24th Aug 2019 10:04am)
  • Hahaha. That’s the angle I was going for but mainly for the wind up factor. At the time it was very stressful as it was a friend of mine that made it and we had elected to transport it from their house to the venue ourselves so it literally fell a part before on my wife’s lap. The venue took the remnants and managed a decent repair job. If anything it added more character to the day. by Badyk (Sat 24th Aug 2019 9:20pm)

BUT what about the guy that was walking past, saw you and thought "fuck it, I'm going to invite my girlfriend out for a picnic, if they can do it then so can I" (they don't live in the same household btw). Then someone sees them etc etc and 4 days later the park is fucking rammed. • "Proper" flying (as opposed to doing loop the loops and crashing into buildings for a laugh...which is fine if that's yer jam), is a highly demanding activity. It involves flying the aircraft accurately, managing radios, managing systems, monitoring engines, looking out for other aircraft, constantly making decisions based on what-ifs. There's so much to it beyond first glance. Sims give people a chance to experience this from the comfort of their own homes for a fraction of the cost. I was training towards my PPL a few years back but developed an ear condition that affected my balance and I had to stop, that and it was bloody expensive. Everyone's different but for me, it's the appeal of "proper" flying, anywhere in the world on multiple different types of aircraft. by Badyk (Wed 5th Aug 2020 11:16am)

  • I have a memory from around where this was taken. Many years ago when I barely a teenager an Uncle of mine whom I’d never met passed away. He had moved to New Zealand before I was born and one of his dying wishes was to have his ashes spread in the Clyde. His remains were shipped halfway across the world to his homeland and a gathering was arranged to enact the ceremony. Three generations of my very dysfunctional family lined up on the banks of the river along a railing on a dark and moody night. The glow of sodium street lamps illuminated the group of a dozen or so people none of whom really wanted to be there. A few words were spoken, my 4 foot nothing Grandmother tipped the container over and cast my Uncle into the brooding water below. I mentioned it was moody right? It was windy as well. At that moment a gust of wind blew up the river...along the line of people. The remnants of the relation I never knew swirled around us, filling nostrils, settling on clothes, invading mouths like a sandstorm in the Sahara. My poor tiny Granny (an old battleaxe of a woman we were equally scared and fond of) bore the brunt of it. She looked like an extra from The Mikado, covered from head to toe in the powdery vestiges of her eldest son. The dusty ensemble stood there in silent horror for what seemed like an age. Old Madge, the perpetrator of the atrocity, was the first to crack. She burst out laughing and before long the whole group were in tears, covered in some old guy’s ashes. Good times. Disclaimer: True story with a only little embellishment. by Badyk (Mon 2nd Nov 2020 9:43pm)

Her diagnosis and subsequent treatment have been largely unaffected by COVID as the restrictions have allowed medical services to continue. Swift diagnosis and unfettered access to treatment are key factors in prolonging her life. It's so vitally important that we adhere to the restrictions to allow the NHS to do its job. • We bought a new build in 2017 for the same reasons you did. It’s worked out for us as the area is great and the house suits us. House builders are generally shite, their primary goal is to extract profit so expect lots of snags and be prepared to keep on top of them. Our house was the last to be built so it was a hassle to get trades on site as they’d all fucked off after a couple of weeks. The developer has also been forced to do major drainage work this year that should have been completed when the site was first being built so it’s a building site once again with heavy plant making loads of noise during the day. We both work from home so that’s a pain in the arse. We spent a fair amount of cash with the builder on upgrades and I would advise against this. It wasn’t particularly good value and they made a major fuck up with our kitchen meaning it had to be torn out and carcasses replaced which took months to sort out. Let them install the basics and then change stuff over time as desired. In a nutshell, seems like you are doing it for the right reasons but prepare yourself to keep on top of the builder for snags, track stuff, follow up and get good value for your money. by Badyk (Sun 20th Feb 2022 9:20am)

  • I am in a similar situation where my wife and I got a dog together nearly five years ago. Since May this year I’ve been on my own and making sure he’s well cared for is a big undertaking. I’m still trying to find a balance with work commitments and he ends up alone for a good few hours or in kennels/staying with a friend/family member a couple of times a month at least. It’s expensive and I feel guilty about leaving him all over the shop rather than being at home where he’s happiest. It’s expensive and restricts my freedom a lot. You’re also on the hook for walks regardless of your own health. I’ve had some sort of virus these past 3-4 days and have had to drag myself out twice a day despite feeling like a bag of cold shite. Having said all that he’s an amazing wee guy and I wouldn’t change him. He’s been here for me through a very difficult period in my life and is just cracking company. It’s tough going but you get out of it what you put in and ultimately it’s more than worth any sacrifices I have to make as long as his quality of life is maintained. by Badyk (Wed 21st Dec 2022 8:41pm)

  • I’m in the same age bracket and always found Oran Mor a good shout for the older crowd although not my favourite boozer by any means. The Belle, Curlers, Inn Deep would be go tos as well. I’ve gone to a fair few gigs on my own over the past year and usually end up chatting to someone. • I had about 4 months to myself last year albiet in different circumstances. I would recommend \- Fuck all. Don't underestimate the power of giving yourself nothing to do, even for a few days or even a week. We're programmed these days to do 'stuff', post it on the socials and all that shit. Just kick back and let yourself live with no pressure. \- Day trips and weekends away. I went weekends away to meet friends I hadn't seen in a while, stayed with them, went on nights out etc. \- Explore the local area. I too have a dog and was stuck on the same routes day in day out. I used some of the time to try and expand our walking routes and found some lovely places. \- Wank. I dunno, that seems to be a thing given the comments? by Badyk (Sat 5th Aug 2023 12:16pm)
  • This is a great shout. If you go to any indoor climbing venue you'll see a really mixed bunch and nobody gives a shit. Couple of local Mountaineering clubs on FB too that are really friendly. by Badyk (Tue 8th Aug 2023 1:45pm)
  • I started with a pt a few months ago for this exact reason. I had no idea what I was doing and being in my 40s could easily do myself a mischief. It’s been great and would highly recommend it. by Badyk (Wed 9th Aug 2023 7:33am)
  • It was an incredible event. The level of athlete in attendance was amazing. I had Pogacar on training rides passing my house and Geraint Thomas at the local cafe for a coffee stop, amazing stuff. • I drive a campervan, recently moved house and have had a load of stuff to take to the dump. Dawsholm dump won’t let me use the normal recycling facilities because I drive a van. I have to queue with the bin lorries and council collection vehicles. They get priority and skip the queue. Had a small bit of cardboard to get rid of and it took nearly an hour. It’s all dumped into one big shed as well, not separated. Fucking mental. by Badyk (Wed 11th Oct 2023 9:17am)
