  • Yep sandyford clinic is a 5 month wait for me unfortunately. I'm not sure if this situation would necessarily be considered an emergency but its definitely concerning :( by OriginalUsername0 (Fri 31st Jan 2020 1:28pm)
  • It's the [Riverside Museum](https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/d/d6/Riverside_Museum_Glasgow_EC2018.jpg). by OriginalUsername0 (Sun 8th Mar 2020 2:31am)

  • Same boat as you. Still working from home and dreading the day they tell us to come back in. Love saving the extra time and money which I'd otherwise have spent on commuting. Also managed to start to get into better shape as I've had more time available in the mornings to get some exercise in. I dont understand why more companies wont just stick with the remote working, even after the restrictions are lifted. We've managed to work from home for several months already without any issues, so what's the problem? I am going to make a case to work from home permanently once the lockdown lifts and hopefully my workplace agrees. If not, I'll probably look into finding a new job with full remote working. I work in software development so some companies do offer it. by OriginalUsername0 (Tue 14th Jul 2020 11:49pm)
  • We are with Hacking and Paterson and they are utter shite. I will ask if they can get an additional quote. by OriginalUsername0 (Mon 24th Aug 2020 6:06pm)
  • My worry is that if the work isnt carried out then we wont be able to sell out flat and move home. Cant see anyone wanting to buy a flat that comes with all these issues with the building. by OriginalUsername0 (Mon 24th Aug 2020 6:11pm)
  • I know its absolutely insane. It's a massive list of things (the pdf is over 90 pages). I will try and get the factor to provide another quote. by OriginalUsername0 (Mon 24th Aug 2020 6:10pm)
  • I think they are independent though I'm not sure. It's a company called IGW associates. Yes it classifies all the different pieces of work based on essential/recommended/cosmetic I believe. The figure they've given is for everything I think. by OriginalUsername0 (Mon 24th Aug 2020 6:55pm)
  • The building is pre-1919 and the repairs are way over 5k per household, so this sounds promising. The only thing I'm wondering now is how much of a grant will be provided. Thanks for linking to that site, much appreciated. by OriginalUsername0 (Mon 24th Aug 2020 7:16pm)
  • You are absolutely correct about the roof, according to the report it sounds like the whole thing needs rebuilt essentially and a large chunk of the cost is towards that. I'm going through the list of things which need repaired and there's just so much that's been listed. They have based everything on Essential/Recommended/Cosmetic/Grand Requirement. I believe the final cost they've given is just for everything to be completed. I wish they'd have given us the totals broken down by Essential/Recommended etc... by OriginalUsername0 (Mon 24th Aug 2020 7:37pm)
  • I'm tempted not gonna lie by OriginalUsername0 (Mon 24th Aug 2020 9:29pm)
  • There's a massive list of things. They basically inspected the place from top to bottom so I imagine it covers everything. The bulk of the costs appear to be for repairing the roof though. The council haven't condemned the building. The estimate was given by a company called IGW associates, they were hired by the factor. Currently we have no other quotes. by OriginalUsername0 (Mon 24th Aug 2020 10:08pm)
  • I'm kinda hoping that everyone just declines to pay for it to be honest. Yep I do indeed have buildings insurance, though I don't think our policy would cover anything in this situation? Not sure. by OriginalUsername0 (Mon 24th Aug 2020 10:24pm)
  • Thanks for sharing your experience! When you say we won't be able to sell until this is settled, I'm a bit curious. If no the homeowners decide they don't want to fix these issues, would we still have issues selling? Or would it only be an issue if everyone decides to fix the issues? by OriginalUsername0 (Tue 25th Aug 2020 8:13am)
  • That's the thing, I feel like the surveyors will obviously stress these issues as they want the money. The owner requested it to be carried out as theres a crack on the wall of the staircase leading up to the first floor. Apparently one of the other homeowners said the crack has been there for 25 years and theres been no issues. by OriginalUsername0 (Tue 25th Aug 2020 10:35am)
  • 40k!! That's mental. If you dont mind me asking, how much did it cost you after the grant? I'm so worried because even with the grant I couldn't afford it. I literally dont have the cash and I dont want to get myself in debt. by OriginalUsername0 (Tue 25th Aug 2020 8:08pm)
  • Yep the whole thing is a joke IMO. I literally cant believe this has happened. I have nowhere near 19k in savings and if the other owners decide to go ahead with the work then I might have to get myself into debt. I actually have spoke with the neighbour when she initially raised it and she said "the council give out grants for these things so it should be fine". It might be fine for her, shes an older woman who probably has plenty of savings. I'm a fairly new homeowner (this is my first house) and I simply don't have the money to make these repairs. I imagine it will be the same for a number of the owners in the tenement as there are several young home owners like myself who are first time buyers. I am just so annoyed that she decided to make the factors go ahead with this. It's just opened up a can of worms and ruined my chances of moving to a new home any time soon. I'm absolutely devastated to be honest. Its been a rough couple of days. by OriginalUsername0 (Tue 25th Aug 2020 10:44pm)
  • Our factors are absolute garbage so I dont think they'd help us in any way financially. I do believe they are going to set up a meeting for the homeowners to discuss next steps. I'm hoping they dont agree to move forward with the repairs. Nope not in a conservation area as far as I'm concerned. I'm in shawlands on the Southside. by OriginalUsername0 (Tue 25th Aug 2020 10:59pm)
  • 1. This sum is an estimate. Should we be looking to get estimates from multiple surveyors? 480k just seems mad. 2. If the homeowners decide they don't want to proceed with any repairs, is it still necessary to inform any potential buyer when we want to sell? by OriginalUsername0 (Wed 26th Aug 2020 2:31pm)
  • Thanks for your response. I think the factor is contacting the council now with regards to grant funding, then they will organise a meeting with the homeowners to discuss how to move forward. Absolutely gutted about the whole situation. Seems like with regards to getting it fixed we are damned if we do, damned if we dont. by OriginalUsername0 (Wed 26th Aug 2020 3:42pm)
  • There is one homeowner who rejected getting the initial survey, so I imagine they will reject the works going forward. My fear is that the homeowners do decide to go ahead with the work. In that case I would need to pay, but I literally dont have anywhere near that much money to pay, even with a grant. I barely have a couple of grand in savings. In that situation I have no idea what I could do. by OriginalUsername0 (Wed 26th Aug 2020 4:09pm)
  • My wife's experience hasn't been great. My wife suffers from extreme anxiety. She initially got anti-depressants but unfortunately they didn't help. Following that she went to CBT and unfortunately it didn't help much either. The CBT course was essentially useless and no further support was given. My wife still suffers every day with her anxiety. by OriginalUsername0 (Wed 23rd Sep 2020 6:12pm)

  • When I was in primary school (about 20 years ago now) I remember they randomly selected 2 students to go and pick up the litter around the playground during the morning break. I remember actually enjoying it as I had good fun using the litter picker. No idea if they still do that sort of thing these days, but if they don't then maybe they ought to. by OriginalUsername0 (Sat 22nd May 2021 11:29pm)
  • The report mentioned structural issues, such as the roof and also the stairwell, so I think we may face similar issues that you experienced. My main problem is just how long its taking for anything to get done, it's incredibly frustrating. The house prices have risen astronomically over the past year and my main worry is that if these works dont get resolved for another year or so then house prices may be even worse and I'll struggle to find a decent new home. by OriginalUsername0 (Fri 4th Jun 2021 2:20pm)
  • It's a long story, but essentially we initially had a survey carried out and report provided, but we recently moved to a new factor who have disregarded the previous report as they want to do their own due diligence. The new survey/report hasn't happened yet. The previous report was quite extensive and the majority of the costs were to repair the roof. by OriginalUsername0 (Fri 4th Jun 2021 5:32pm)
  • Thanks for the info. Seems there's not much I can do unfortunately. by OriginalUsername0 (Sun 27th Jun 2021 1:27pm)
  • Hmm, with a pub you know what to expect though. Drunk and disorderly folk. I know religious people go to Church on Sundays, but I've never known people to go as early as 8am and play live music. I've got no issue with people going to Church, playing music, singing or whatever, as long as it's at a reasonable time. I've lived next to the Church for years with no issue. 8am just seems a bit over the top. by OriginalUsername0 (Sun 27th Jun 2021 1:26pm)

  • Yeah mate it is unsociable. Funny how you say "love thy neighbour" or whatever, then blast music when people are trying to sleep. Such a disrespectful thing to do. by OriginalUsername0 (Tue 29th Jun 2021 10:57am)
  • People still do though. It's a real shame about this Church, they're giving religious folk a bad name. They clearly dont give a shit about people. by OriginalUsername0 (Tue 29th Jun 2021 2:29pm)

  • For Chinese, I quite enjoy Panda House. Usually get Singapore chow mein and salt and chilli chips. For Indian, used to always go go Clay Oven but recently started going to Himayalan Dine and it's fantastic. For kebabs I quite enjoy Anayas. They do good chicken wings as well.
