  • I was walking home from school a while back and just kinda saw Peter Capaldi leave Cottiers. Glad I managed to hide that i'd noticed him, I imagine getting stares from Doctor Who fans all the time would get annoying fast. by Glitch_FACE (Tue 17th Sep 2019 11:13am)
  • Classy glaswegians? Never thought I would see the day... Anyway, im a bit late, so now its your last 6 hours I guess, but I would suggest that you dont buy food at the airport. Get a takeaway on your way there (what you actually get is up to you but make sure its decent) by Glitch_FACE (Tue 17th Sep 2019 11:33am)
  • Kelvingrove Art Galleries? It isnt all artworks, theres some real cool shit in the museum section if you go looking. Also that Red Bus Bistro might be a nice lunch date by Glitch_FACE (Mon 3rd Feb 2020 1:23pm)
  • The irony. the absolute fecking irony. by Glitch_FACE (Mon 3rd Feb 2020 1:29pm)

  • Good to hear! I only ever get the outer circle in the mornings so its possible that's the reason then by Glitch_FACE (Mon 3rd Feb 2020 2:01pm)
  • Reminds me of a phenomenon I observed back in school where if a Teacher got moved up to department head they would become a lot less personable, and visa versa (enough teachers moved both up and down for me to properly observe this). I now understand its due to stress but when I was a kid it was confusing AF to me lol. by Glitch_FACE (Mon 3rd Feb 2020 2:00pm)
  • I remember once seeing a group of tourists from somewhere in asia being very entertained by him. He is a legit national treasure. by Glitch_FACE (Mon 3rd Feb 2020 2:33pm)
  • absolutely fair enough. They ought to get him to do the recordings and pay him royalties by Glitch_FACE (Mon 3rd Feb 2020 2:47pm)
  • good to hear he's still on it then. I think Im just always on the outer line when hes on the inner and visa versa. by Glitch_FACE (Mon 3rd Feb 2020 5:44pm)

  • a Korg Monologue and an Arturia Minibrute Mk 1, why? by Glitch_FACE (Tue 4th Feb 2020 1:11pm)
  • hence why I asked why, to give them an opportunity to answer. its been 12 hours tho so I doubt they will at this point. by Glitch_FACE (Wed 5th Feb 2020 1:57am)
  • good to hear by Glitch_FACE (Thu 6th Feb 2020 7:43pm)
  • thanks, but my reason for asking is that I have a slight paranoia about things like this, in that if I'm going to sell it it's going to be through some form of establishment. I was hoping to find out about a physical store that I could sell it to as it would feel more personal than using reverb, but if I cant find a place such as that I will just end up using reverb most likely. by Glitch_FACE (Thu 6th Feb 2020 7:41pm)
  • At this point im half tempted to buy a bunch of korg volcas and do actual techno within eyeshot of him just to wind him up by Glitch_FACE (Sun 9th Feb 2020 12:47am)
  • if you think about it hes kind of an analogy of capitalism at work right now. He profits off of simply observing worker drones actually performing tasks in his name, and he gets the credit. by Glitch_FACE (Sun 9th Feb 2020 2:27pm)
  • huh. Never seen them. will keep an eye out by Glitch_FACE (Sun 9th Feb 2020 2:26pm)
  • realistically speaking this would just look like any other place after a week, at least the design their going for now has a sort of sci fi vibe that actually looks good with the inevitable urban detritus. by Glitch_FACE (Sun 9th Feb 2020 8:32pm)
  • Im hearing ice cream vans at midnight a lot. Do you think drug dealers have decided to try using the vans again? by Glitch_FACE (Sun 23rd Feb 2020 12:03am)
  • during the summer I know two locations where during a nice summer day youre basically guaranteed to find one: the skatepark of KG park and Notre Dame primary school. Im guessing that there are other locations. Its a shame you dont get them situating themselves on streetcorners playing their tune anymore, and they are now more expensive, but its still nice that they still exist. by Glitch_FACE (Sun 23rd Feb 2020 12:05am)
  • yeah Glasgow Uni is world class apparently. by Glitch_FACE (Thu 27th Feb 2020 2:32pm)
  • oh no I know it happens, but its a lot rarer here than in other places is what I was saying. by Glitch_FACE (Thu 27th Feb 2020 4:07pm)
  • yeah im not saying nothing happens, but its far better than what would happen if this influx happened in say, manchester or birmingham. by Glitch_FACE (Thu 27th Feb 2020 5:22pm)

  • Glasgow is a relatively small city with not that many tall buildings outside of the city center and a lot of baked in history. All of those american college tropes dont happen here (even the ones that actually happen in the US), so you will be fine not drinking. Pubs are very different from american bars, and non drinkers can normally still enjoy themselves there. Glasgow University in particular is a great campus, being near Kelvingrove Park and byres road. Fair warning, the weather will prevent you from enjoying this to the fullest. If you love museums youre in luck, they are all free here. A lot of people call tour buses a tourist trap but I sincerely recommend taking a sunny day with a few friends to ride around the city in one. You might see some things you'l be interested in visiting later. Finally, even on a student budget the food scene in Glasgow is pretty great, so you wont be lacking for choice. Oh, actually another thing: If you wanna make friends dont be right wing. This is a very leftist country and it will just simplify things if you fit in that regard. by Glitch_FACE (Tue 3rd Mar 2020 4:05pm)
  • And? that's a problem the people living there can sort out in their own time, but it doesnt magically lessen the evils of conservatism. by Glitch_FACE (Wed 4th Mar 2020 12:08am)
  • Its not a matter of tribalism, or "thinking exactly like us", its a matter of morality. Your political opinions are a representation of your moral outlook, and those who fall on the right are severely lacking in the moral department. by Glitch_FACE (Wed 4th Mar 2020 12:07am)
  • This but unironically. The failures of democracy under capitalism are laid bare with the state of the wider world today. by Glitch_FACE (Wed 4th Mar 2020 12:06am)
  • No, it isnt tribalism. As I said, it is a moral issue. Right wing political stances are inherently immoral and need to be fought. And if it comes to it, I do mean the literal definition of "fought". by Glitch_FACE (Wed 4th Mar 2020 10:24am)
  • sounds like a good opportunity for a counter-protest. Grab yer red bandannas, black hoodies and blunt objects like golf clubs or baseball bats, were going Antifa-ing. by Glitch_FACE (Wed 4th Mar 2020 10:21am)
  • yeah that seems like a good counter protest. Very typical of antifa as well so it shouldnt be too hard to organise via antifa channels. by Glitch_FACE (Wed 4th Mar 2020 12:15pm)
  • ... yes. by Glitch_FACE (Wed 4th Mar 2020 12:26pm)
  • But for an effective blockade we need some form of threat to prevent people just walking past. Hence we bring weapons. We dont start a fight but we need to be able to defend the blockade if a fight starts. by Glitch_FACE (Wed 4th Mar 2020 12:33pm)
  • I didnt say we should beat them necessarily. The weapons are to allow us to enforce a blockade if they try to force their way through. If you think political violence is immoral thats your choice, but that is a philosophical outlook, not objective fact and bullshit horseshoe theorism isnt going to help your case. by Glitch_FACE (Wed 4th Mar 2020 12:46pm)
  • horseshoe theory, not even once lol. by Glitch_FACE (Wed 4th Mar 2020 12:54pm)
  • The whole point of this reddit post was a call for direct action, not for meaningless platitudes and no actual meaningful attempt to prevent them from performing. Political violence isnt inherently immoral and attempting to declare antifascist violence as such via illusions to the fucking gestapo of all things betrays a critical lack of understanding on your part. by Glitch_FACE (Wed 4th Mar 2020 1:09pm)
  • Ok, let's say for the sake of argument that there is some element of tribalism to it. So what? by Glitch_FACE (Wed 4th Mar 2020 1:14pm)
  • aaaand a look through your post history revealed exactly what sort of a person you are. "immigrants will weaken the nations culture" fuck off with that racist dogwhistle shite cunt by Glitch_FACE (Wed 4th Mar 2020 1:29pm)
  • Lol you shouldnt be making allusions to being close minded. I had a poke around your post history and saw you spouting "immigrants are incompatible with our culture" racist dogwhistle bullshite. Kettles shouldnt call pots black. by Glitch_FACE (Wed 4th Mar 2020 1:53pm)
  • It isnt smearing if its true, and it was fairly recent so I didnt "rifle through". Your reddit history is public record and will be used against you. Be mindful. by Glitch_FACE (Wed 4th Mar 2020 3:02pm)
  • I read the context, it doesnt make the statement any better. And this isnt a "proper conversation" this is reddit. by Glitch_FACE (Wed 4th Mar 2020 3:17pm)
  • the communism understander has logged on. For the record im not even a communist im an anarchist, but I am a proponent for leftist unity sooo... by Glitch_FACE (Wed 4th Mar 2020 3:27pm)
  • No? Im an anarcho socialist (subcategory of anarchist). How come you're so adverse to "commies"? It's a pretty wide category spanning the entire Authoritarian-Libertarian spectrum of leftism. by Glitch_FACE (Wed 4th Mar 2020 3:35pm)
  • thats an overly simplistic view of it. Ive not seen a non empty bin in a while. Litter is a shared responsibility between civilian and council. by Glitch_FACE (Mon 9th Mar 2020 1:48am)
  • this is why you dont let greedy cunts in office. I mean, the litter is honestly the least of it they basically murdered 55 homeless people by illegally denying them emergency housing in 2018. by Glitch_FACE (Mon 9th Mar 2020 7:09am)
  • Yet another overly simplistic way of looking at things. What you are describing is the consequence of a major cultural difference. In japan people just dont eat while walking at all. Part of why they can do that is because they have an ultra reliable public transport infrastructure which allows them to avoid rushing. Yet again a healthy share of the responsibility falls in the lap of the council, or rather the corporations we foolishly allow to manage our public transport. by Glitch_FACE (Mon 9th Mar 2020 8:18am)
  • While people are responsible for their own actions, that doesnt mean that they are entirely responsible for the outcome. The council bears responsibility for enabling it. by Glitch_FACE (Mon 9th Mar 2020 11:23pm)

  • I think given the chance Police Scotland would prove themselves perfectly deserving of the "ACAB" moniker. Depending on perspective, they may have already. The police force as a very concept is inherently corrupt. by Glitch_FACE (Mon 15th Jun 2020 1:29pm)
  • This makes me sick. I wish scotland had a stronger antifa presence so that there had been some opposing force to the sea of gammon. by Glitch_FACE (Mon 15th Jun 2020 1:27pm)

  • I feel like "corruption" may have been a poor choice of words. I didnt mean "corrupt" in the embezzlement sense, more so in the irredeemable force of state oppression sense. The police force as an institution exists merely as an expression of state power over the people. Each of the expected functions of a police force is either entirely or partially unnecessary, or could be fulfilled by other entities. A telling point of notice is that the first "police force" as we would understand it was the Irish Constabulary, which while purporting to serve as a bastion of law and order "and indeed, providing both to an extent) its true purpose was to quell an uprising. Then, and now, the police provide a "service" to the people (that could be and has been fully fulfilled by people ran endeavours in the past and present) while in truth merely cementing the centralisation of power within our society. The police is an expression of violence, a force that the police and military monopolise for sole "legitimate" use *by* the state, against those it seeks to subjugate and keep in line. If you want to see the worst examples of what the police can become, you can look to what has been happening as of late across the pond. The US police force is not an anomaly. It is the inevitable result of what happens when the checks, balances and limits required to keep a police force in line are allowed to erode. It has to be considered whether or not the police are worth it in the end, if they must be constantly struggled against merely to stop them from turning on the people in spectacular fashion. by Glitch_FACE (Mon 15th Jun 2020 3:04pm)

  • it isnt just glasgow tbh, edinburgh is just as bad for this and just general litter. I think there has to be a fundamental problem with the mentality of the majority of scottish urbanites. I remember a couple of years ago I took a trip to new york and visited a beach. It was one you had to drive to so it wasnt really accessible to tourists (i was driven there by a friend i was staying with) so im willing to bet that the vast majority of the people there were genuine new yorkers. And there was a lot of them, I cannae guess at the numbers but it was in the upper hundreds at least. As we were all leaving I remember noticing how free of litter the beach was. If there had been that many glaswegians on a beach it would have been fucking trashed. by Glitch_FACE (Tue 29th Sep 2020 1:14am)

  • You are proposing to eliminate localised taxation in exchange for nationwide tax funds going towards local wellfair. That means that people in inverness would see their taxes going towards glaswegians which isnt likely to do much in the way of softening the highlander/lowlander dichotomy. This isnt like with the NHS where its one organisation that serves everyone, its incredibly unlikely for someone from ullapool to find themselves appreciating the repair done to a glasgow road that they partially paid for. I do agree that we ought to eliminate landlordism and wealth inequality, but the way to do that isnt "lets centralise our tax system so that everyone in the country is paying to fix glaswegian roads" by Glitch_FACE (Wed 24th Feb 2021 1:10pm)

  • when trying to get into a primary school you also have to consider which secondary school that primary school leads to. theres gonna be a bunch of conflicting arguments about where you should try to have your kids end up, for my money best bet would be hyndland primary. whatever you do avoid the gaelic school, especially if your child has a learning difficulty like autism, as they are woefully underequipped to deal with such issues. by Glitch_FACE (Mon 29th Mar 2021 12:47am)
  • I have issues with how they teach their students in regards to their focus on gaelic over other subjects including the actual language the students will have to speak in their day to day lives, but they are more subjective. The issue in regards to their handling of autism and other neurodivergent conditions is a more glaring and objective issue. by Glitch_FACE (Mon 29th Mar 2021 11:00am)
  • I understand focussing on gaelic as its own subject, but focussing on it to the detriment of the actual language people will likely be speaking in their day to day lives (especially living in a city like glasgow) rubs me the wrong way. it would be like an english school in france or something teaching kids english at the expense of french, the language which they will find the most useful if they continue to live in the society the school is based in. by Glitch_FACE (Mon 29th Mar 2021 2:28pm)
  • "there are schools like that in the world" i know, I am opposed to them. a school should not prioritise the learning of a language which will be of less practical utility to a given student assuming they dont leave the society which the school is based in. by Glitch_FACE (Mon 29th Mar 2021 2:38pm)
  • i mean, I even stressed in my post that the autism issue was vastly more important (especially given that at this age point the parent cannot be sure their child is not autistic unless they are tested) but I genuinely consider it a bad idea to send a child to a school like the gaelic school and that will factor into my advice. I dont care whether or not people downvote me and im not sure why you think its relevant. by Glitch_FACE (Mon 29th Mar 2021 2:44pm)

  • thats irrelevant, i was asking if there was any way to get ahold of it by Glitch_FACE (Thu 15th Apr 2021 9:07pm)
  • not really no. my long term memory sucks and beyond the most recent 2 years i remember a very basic timeline of events and like a handful of key moments per year. by Glitch_FACE (Fri 16th Apr 2021 1:11am)
  • i dont see what made you think i was troubled by this. it was three years ago, i just want some official record of the occurrence in my possession. by Glitch_FACE (Fri 16th Apr 2021 11:58am)
  • ah yes, im definitely looking to one up people with this. it definitely isnt just meant to be a conversation piece. nope, youve got me dead to rights. by Glitch_FACE (Sat 17th Apr 2021 1:31am)
  • what makes you think that just because I want *this* conversation piece in my possession I have no other conversation pieces? thats not exactly a logical assumption. by Glitch_FACE (Sat 17th Apr 2021 1:31pm)
  • this isnt in the city centre, but the butchershop grill by kelvingrove park in the west end is really good. by Glitch_FACE (Mon 19th Apr 2021 11:48am)
  • we finally got our own UKIP. just in case anyone thought escaping the union would rid us of that bullcrap. im actually willing to bet that this party exists as a contingency by the scottish right for if independence happens. by Glitch_FACE (Wed 21st Apr 2021 12:09am)
  • yeah, but if they lose that, the far right need a political branch within scotland. I seriously doubt this party would exist if independence wasnt a distinct possibility. UKIP isnt just about tangible political issues theyre also a cultural front. An extreme reactionary attack against progress within our society. Im not saying that the parties are even related on paper, but they serve the same purpose to the same political bloc. by Glitch_FACE (Wed 21st Apr 2021 12:33am)
  • ? ukips existence is pretty objective negative, as are parties which emulate them. Does wanting rid of them mean im against diverse politcs? not strictly, but I can observe as certain entities cause tangible harm to the nation I live in. by Glitch_FACE (Wed 21st Apr 2021 12:31am)
  • I am not mad, and I wasnt going to write "for when". if i was going to write that i would have done. plenty of independence supporters are perfectly willing to use certain language idk why you think i would give it a second thought if it were my intention. by Glitch_FACE (Wed 21st Apr 2021 11:13pm)

  • honestly i hope they dont. i like the general vibe and its all to do with the walls n shit and doesnt impact my general experience. if they ever update the subway i hope they get the tunnels and tracks right but give up on the stations 5/6ths of the way through again. by Glitch_FACE (Thu 10th Jun 2021 1:05am)

  • when they say they dont police gender they mean that they will take you on good faith that you are what you say you are. its basically a re-assurance to trans people that they wont be dicks. this isnt hard to work out. if youre a guy, it isnt for you. genderfluid people experience gender in a more complex manner hence things being a bit looser for them. by Glitch_FACE (Mon 12th Jul 2021 7:23am)

  • yes, they dont police genders. this means they wont tell a trans woman that she's a man or something, not that they have to let men in. by Glitch_FACE (Mon 12th Jul 2021 5:59pm)

  • it's second wave feminism which was toxic as shite from the start. TERF was a term invented by TERFs. • trans women have been recognised as women for some time now, if anything yall are the ones trying to rework society to a prelapsarian point in which trans people were not recognised as the genders they were and lived as. the given assumption in modern society is that trans women are women, if you are going to dispute that given assumption then the onus is on you to cite the claim that trans women are actually in some meaningful sense men. by Glitch_FACE (Tue 20th Jul 2021 2:12pm)

  • "it also unarguably lessens a persons greenhouse gas output on a macro level too". I didnt deny that, I deny that anyone should give a shit about their personal greenhouse gas output. 70% of all global emissions are caused by the direct activity of 100 corporations, one of which (Shell) LITERALLY invented the concept of a carbon footprint to try and do exactly this (ie push the responsibility of helping the climate onto the individual). by Glitch_FACE (Wed 20th Oct 2021 2:23pm)
  • A: "you can only do that from a position of having done your bit" is bullshit because at the personal level there is no bit to be done. B: China is inconsequential. Again: 100 corporations are responsible for 70% of all global emissions. even if they have operations ongoing in China they are based in the west, they are western corporations for the most part. Literally any political action applying pressure to western governments is more impactful than personal life choices. by Glitch_FACE (Thu 21st Oct 2021 10:57am)

  • eh, I wouldnt characterise the entire west end like that. im from a council flat in the west end, knew mostly people who also lived in council flats. we weren't posh and I wasnt a student at the time (and now that I am a student i live in gorbals). It is where the students mostly are (and there are specific parts of the west end which are really posh) but it's mixed enough that you cant fully generalise. by Glitch_FACE (Tue 2nd Nov 2021 12:24am)
  • well yes exactly, he was making a generalisation. that was my primary grievance. by Glitch_FACE (Tue 2nd Nov 2021 3:26am)
  • most places which have normal flats and not massive townhouses, ie partick yorkhill ect. the issue is demand. my mum got in for the yorkhill housing association when there wasnt as much demand cause finnieston hadnt been gentrified yet, now theres a fucking huge queue. thats the issue. there are people living in council flats in the west end, plenty of em. the problem is that no-one else can join them until one of the existing council tennants leaves, cause the housing associations dont have the funds to buy up new flats in that area and they cant just sublet cause it would be ridiculously expensive for people needing help, defeating the point. and the queue remains big because the schools in the west end are good so people with families are desperate to get in the right encatchment area. by Glitch_FACE (Tue 2nd Nov 2021 11:33pm)
  • no we stayed there, there's a housing association office next to kelvingrove park. the issue is that to an outside observer there doesnt seem to be any council flats because there arent any going. there's a queue a mile high which can only move forwards when someone moves out cause they cant acquire new properties due to the insane prices, they can only dish out the ones they already have. My mum got in in the very very early 2000s when it was a different story due to finnieston being kind of a shit hole. I also know people who live in council owned kelvinbridge tenements, but theyre even fewer and far between cause i think THAT housing association had to sell off a few at one point to keep afloat. people underestimate the amount of people who live in these areas who arent posh and actually generally fall under the poverty line because unless youre already living there you cant really get a foot in the door (especially as they prioritise people who already have council flats for upgrades when they have kids and whatnot over new clients, which is a problem but at the same time a necessity unless you want a child being raised in a 1 bedroom flat) by Glitch_FACE (Wed 3rd Nov 2021 9:52am)
