  • I live in Govanhill (Victoria road) and have had 4 break-ins into my building in the last 2 weeks. I've had my car window smashed twice with a stereo taken one of the times. We even had someone take a shit in the stairwell once. It's not got a lot of violent crime but my God stuff is stolen easily here. by KaiserDamz (Sat 23rd Feb 2019 8:23pm)
  • I've got family in Kent so have tried all forms of transport. Worst by far is bus, fucking horrific but it is cheap. Best was flying from Glasgow to London city airport then getting train. Virgin trains is ok but it's the most expensive out of all methods. by KaiserDamz (Sat 23rd Feb 2019 8:20pm)
  • If they wanted to reduce congestion force the car parks to be free on Sundays and remove on street parking. I usually just park in a multi story in town because they're usually empty and dry. There's one within walking distance of pretty much anywhere. by KaiserDamz (Mon 25th Feb 2019 9:30am)
  • In summer this is actually pretty true. During the heatwave last summer I was in the south east and all the parks etc were yellow/brown cause all the grass dried out. Mind you everyone was at the beach instead. by KaiserDamz (Mon 25th Feb 2019 12:10pm)
  • Which made several weeks of high 20's and low 30's pretty much unheard of. Buildings literally started to melt. Pretty sure there's folk still sunburnt from it. by KaiserDamz (Mon 25th Feb 2019 3:35pm)
  • Shame they changed St Enoch's. Much prefer the older style but no doubt it'd have been falling apart/fire hazard hence demolished by KaiserDamz (Sun 3rd Mar 2019 12:05pm)
  • In a similar situation as near queens Park too and have had 3 front doors replaced for our building by KaiserDamz (Sun 17th Mar 2019 11:18pm)
  • Shawlands/strathbungo are pretty good for amenities and transport. by KaiserDamz (Thu 28th Mar 2019 3:53pm)
  • Brilliant. Was talking to folk on pub last night and how we wished trams were back in use. by KaiserDamz (Sat 6th Apr 2019 9:35am)
  • What kind of car is it?. Glasgow public transport is pretty crap, I live near the city centre but have to drive most days to get about. by KaiserDamz (Tue 9th Apr 2019 8:11pm)
  • Stuff tends to go missing at ports as well. I've imported a car from Japan and had to have stuff emptied first. I was more enquiring if it was something you couldn't get here and could be an interesting car to have but you'd be able to pick up the same car here pretty easily. by KaiserDamz (Mon 15th Apr 2019 10:42am)
  • Problem is that the traffic island ends as the bus stop begins. If there's more than one bus at the stop traffic is then blocked. I'm suspecting they're going to reroute traffic through tradeston then back onto the A77 for some reason. by KaiserDamz (Fri 26th Apr 2019 12:39am)
  • It was at first but now it's permanently a single lane instead of temporarily. We'll be seeing a lot more of this in the future. by KaiserDamz (Fri 26th Apr 2019 11:46am)
  • To me it makes sense to build a road system to cope with peak demand so that at other times traffic flows smoothly. I was in Hiroshima last year that has 6 lane roads going through the city. A car moving is going to generate less pollution than a car idling. by KaiserDamz (Fri 26th Apr 2019 12:37pm)
  • Penalise car use, slap on congestion charges, increase parking costs and use the funds to subsidise public transport. That will stop people driving into town instead of public transport. My sub 20mpg car still works out cheaper than getting a bus and is more reliable. Obviously Hiroshima got to start from scratch as did most cities in Japan but it's not as if huge chunks of Glasgow didn't get demolished in the era of the car. by KaiserDamz (Fri 26th Apr 2019 1:39pm)
  • Until they get a reliable and consistent public transport people will still continue to use cars. I live near shawlands. It's about a 15 Mon walk to train station, then a 5 min wait if lucky for a train then a 10 min journey then a 10 min walk to my office. If I drive it takes about 15-20 min total and is usually cheaper petrol wise. They're expecting magical changes to public behaviour by adding cycle lanes that are barely even used by cyclists and cause bottlenecks. The bottom of Victoria road is fucked now because of the new lanes. by KaiserDamz (Mon 29th Apr 2019 9:07am)
  • Only keen cyclists will use it from Oct to March. Not everyone wants to turn up to work sweaty from a 20 min cycle. That's why I stopped. by KaiserDamz (Mon 29th Apr 2019 9:19am)
  • You've got quite a bit to the west of the railways to use. Build on top of bridge Street/subway and just have them combined into one big station. Means you could get train to "south Glasgow central" then hop onto the subway without going outside. Keep commuter trains going into central. In fact you could just jump onto the subway to Buchanan st to get to queen st station. by KaiserDamz (Mon 29th Apr 2019 11:29am)
  • Saw this on Facebook. Hopefully I'll be able to make it by KaiserDamz (Mon 29th Apr 2019 4:31pm)
  • Something to do with an easyJet flight. Likely a possible emergency landing. by KaiserDamz (Tue 30th Apr 2019 11:20am)
  • So with these new trains surely they can't use the track gauge as an excuse for no expansion. by KaiserDamz (Fri 3rd May 2019 10:52am)
  • Got to be cheaper than widening all the tunnels and relaying the tracks. Heck they could build the new sections and not impact the current system until they're ready to link them up. by KaiserDamz (Fri 3rd May 2019 11:20am)
  • Could these not link in with a light rail network so it's above ground out of the city centre?. by KaiserDamz (Fri 3rd May 2019 11:51am)
  • By definition are they actually homeless?, By that I mean do they not have a roof over their head when they go to sleep?. The amount of rough sleepers in town has certainly increased but even then it's a fraction of those you see begging in town. There was that Celtic/Irish beggar on Buchanan st who got jailed recently who lived with his folks so was very much not homeless. by KaiserDamz (Thu 9th May 2019 1:59pm)
  • If they want to clear up the streets remove on street parking and increase multi storey car parks. Will make people less likely to drive around for a space and will free up space on the road. I'll usually aim for a certain car park when heading into town and only park in the street if there's a free space trying to reach the car park. by KaiserDamz (Mon 13th May 2019 5:21pm)
  • Not really on a Sunday unless you fancy waiting an hour for a bus. by KaiserDamz (Mon 13th May 2019 5:25pm)
  • I think they should demolish all the buildings and turn the city centre into a field. No pollution. by KaiserDamz (Mon 13th May 2019 6:22pm)
  • Issue is at winter it's a death wish to cycle as cycle lanes don't get gritted. Any other time a puddle usually means a giant pothole. Only time it's practical is in summer with dry days. Personally I'd rather see trams across the city. by KaiserDamz (Wed 15th May 2019 11:28am)
  • I believe as part of that transport report recently they suggested using it to get from central station to queen st station and Buchanan bus station. Over in Japan they have huge underground tunnels/shopping centres under the roads so you can get about quickly. by KaiserDamz (Wed 15th May 2019 12:57pm)
  • Yeah quite a lot of them are there. You'll notice in pot holes that the cobbled roads are still there. I'd rather have cobbled roads as it'd stop folk driving so fast however I think one of the reasons they were covered was that car stopping distance is pretty poor on cobbles. Problem with reinstating them would be the overhead cables, would need to be high enough not to catch double deckers etc. Unless they brought in double decker trams like in the past. by KaiserDamz (Wed 15th May 2019 12:55pm)
  • Nobody wants to spend money though. They're all about budgeting and cutting spending. Never going to get out of debt by doing that. What they need is projects that will generate wealth. For example toll roads or trams that will in the long run generate income but also have benefits such as reduce traffic. by KaiserDamz (Wed 15th May 2019 1:01pm)
  • Just because one city fucked up doesn't justify a blanket ban on a form of transport. That's like saying ban planes because of 9/11. by KaiserDamz (Thu 16th May 2019 2:50pm)
  • Not sure if it's just me but the weather in Glasgow has improved quite a bit over the last few years. I don't recall it dropping below zero significantly for quite some time for extended periods. If your staying in the city centre it'll be warmer than outside the city. Snow in the city centre is rarely ever an issue. Plenty of hiking shops about for waterproof jackets. You will likely stand out quite a bit as most folk don't really prepare for rain and just accepts it happens. I only own one jacket and for the majority of the year I wear a hooded jumper. by KaiserDamz (Mon 20th May 2019 8:57am)
  • Glasgow council have started cracking down on Airbnb in flats now due to issues with short term lets. You're ok if the neighbours don't complain but if they do you could be in for a headache. Guy in my building bought out 3 or 4 flats to be used for Airbnb and has had to stop now due to complaints. by KaiserDamz (Wed 5th Jun 2019 1:07am)

  • Was mid 2016 by KaiserDamz (Thu 13th Jun 2019 12:51pm)
  • Govanhill has generally been very undervalued due to it being a shithole. It's now however becoming trendy as you've got a giant park, good transport links and quirky pubs in the area. It's likely to eventually reach shawlands value once it becomes more owner occupier. by KaiserDamz (Thu 13th Jun 2019 12:58pm)
  • Worked for Kura back when it was response, they tend to change their name when there's some kind of scandal. I did the student loans campaign and it was brutal, non stop abuse constantly from students. Student loans is ok for a summer role but as soon as the campaign starts to slow down they will literally find any reason to sack you. I had a payment issue with them where they didn't pay me what my contract said I'd get paid. I'd say only take it as a temp job while find a better job elsewhere. by KaiserDamz (Fri 14th Jun 2019 1:19pm)
  • Wonder if they could use the south of the Clyde for extra platforms/lines. Most of the area South of the Clyde is just wasteland or rundown buildings by KaiserDamz (Fri 14th Jun 2019 1:39pm)

  • Cheers, I must have misread the letter. It's the courts next to the Clyde. Looks like I'll need to grab a flight from London the night before then fly back south the next afternoon. What would I be expected to do when being a witness?, Will they show the video that I provided?. Do I need to prepare anything?. by KaiserDamz (Mon 7th Oct 2019 9:13am)
  • That's a bit annoying. I don't even own the CCTV I just know how it works and shared it with the police as part of a request by another resident. I was fine with being a witness when I thought it was this Thursday but my girlfriend is a teacher so holidays are very limited. by KaiserDamz (Mon 7th Oct 2019 9:15am)
  • That'll be a bit annoying as it looks like I'll be having to book a flight from London for wed night then Thursday afternoon back down. by KaiserDamz (Mon 7th Oct 2019 10:57am)
  • The charge that I'm associated with isn't as significant as the other ones. The guy is being charged for being in a place he shouldn't have and a crime was committed. Essentially the CCTV shows him walking around our flats car park and I had a storage box off camera that was broken into. They couldn't charge him for the damage etc as it wasn't covered by CCTV. by KaiserDamz (Mon 7th Oct 2019 2:28pm)

  • Pay and display until 10pm, then a random parking slip that wasn't mine that expired at 8:30. oddly they provided the picture I've posted as evidence which makes no sense at all. by KaiserDamz (Wed 13th Nov 2019 11:13am)
  • Nope, the pay and display machine had been removed at some point. https://maps.app.goo.gl/Jxn5Zy1PfQY33r7z8 Next to where the bikes parked. The parking notice there was also obscured. Along with two other notices. by KaiserDamz (Wed 13th Nov 2019 11:21am)
  • Yeah park road, went to see a friend do stand up. Parked up just after 8, looked up and saw sign behind and in front and thought oh cool no parking restrictions any more. Checked for a machine, saw it had been removed and saw no notices about residents parking only. No idea how anyone would know about a 10pm restriction. by KaiserDamz (Wed 13th Nov 2019 11:49am)
  • Curious as to where the machine was as I couldn't find one. by KaiserDamz (Wed 13th Nov 2019 12:05pm)

  • West Nile at sauchiehall st is horrendous. Timed it and it was about 90 seconds for it to go green, this was at night and only counted maybe 10-15 people crossing. Light went green and people carried on crossing so kind of makes the whole point of the lights redundant. by KaiserDamz (Wed 22nd Jan 2020 5:46pm)

  • I live in the building, it's been an absolute nightmare. I have to set my phone to video recording whenever I leave the building for the reasons below. This is the guys son's https://www.glasgowtimes.co.uk/news/18745325.thug-spat-bloody-saliva-cop-height-coronavirus-pandemic/ https://www.glasgowtimes.co.uk/news/18247089.sausage-supper-attacker-jailed-starting-brawl-glasgow-central/ Both currently in jail. It's being run by the owner, his daughter and another son. Still having constant issues. Each flat has a parking space, the owner has one of his cars in his space but consistently parks his other car in other people's spaces. When he gets asked to move he becomes abusive and phones the police saying he's being racially assaulted. His daughter and other son attacked a neighbour and then reported the neighbour for being racist. I got reported for being threatening and racist behaviour but what the owner didn't realise was that my phone was set to record before I had even left my flat and had the entire conversation. The police went back to give him a hard time for falsified accusations. What the article doesn't cover is that the flat is a 2 bedroom flat that has been modified into a 2 bedroom flat. He's turned the open plan kitchen/living room into a separate bedroom. He also expanded the boiler cupboard into a 4th bedroom, one that has no external windows. All fire doors have been removed, even the front door has been replaced. The owner stated in the article also runs a language school as well as this BnB but is consistently rotating the owners of the businesses with his kids so that legal proceedings keep getting held up. by KaiserDamz (Fri 25th Sep 2020 12:12pm)

I tried reporting it but the police only seemed to suggest calling when it happens and hope the police come round to catch them in the act. • Spent a good chunk of 2020 looking for places in the southside. As mentioned some went for silly money, like £30-40k over home report and mortgages were only doing like 80-90% so you needed a fuck ton of cash. Somehow we managed to find a place and get it under home report just before Christmas so it is possible to find a place. by KaiserDamz (Sat 23rd Oct 2021 10:50am)
  • Chances are the people doing the dumping won't pay factors fees so there's no incentive for them to do it. In my old building there was a guy who owned several rented properties in other buildings and he'd dump all the bulky items in our communal bin shed because it had easy access for a van. Factors wouldn't do anything, apparently the guy owed the factors about £5k. by KaiserDamz (Fri 24th Dec 2021 1:17am)
  • Was in West Calder at the weekend and the roads there are even worse. Over at polamdie where they recently resurfaced the whole road it's now starting to get pot holes. It's at the same spots so is likely pipes/cables under the road at a shallow depth so is more likely to create holes. by KaiserDamz (Tue 22nd Feb 2022 4:28pm)

  • I'd love the tram network to be reinstated to what it was previously. If you look at the routes it covered you'd wipe out so much traffic with easy public transport. One other thing is more railings around roads that are busy or already have pedestrian crossings. It'll force people to actually use the crossings instead of running out in front of traffic and being killed. by KaiserDamz (Mon 5th Sep 2022 2:31pm)
  • Not as recent but viewed a place in 2020. Home report was £275, offered £295. Winner was £320k, £45k over home report. There's no way that they will sell for a loss so you'll probably see less houses go for sale but those that do will be at silly prices which someone will pay for by KaiserDamz (Thu 2nd Feb 2023 12:59pm)
  • Sounds like the Milton car thieves to be honest. They ride about in dirt bikes with no reg plates smashing in cars as they ride past. It's all over their tiktoks and the red dirtbike seen in the photos of the crash matches a bike used in their videos. by KaiserDamz (Mon 13th Feb 2023 9:44am)

  • I just messaged the Glasgow live FB page with my flat sale and got an article written up about it. Ended up selling the flat to someone who had seen the article. Didn't pay anything for it, it wasn't a standard flat though which likely helped with the article. by KaiserDamz (Wed 20th Sep 2023 2:48pm)
  • Flat itself wasn't anything special but having views reaching from queen's park flagpole all the way to the campsies uninterrupted gave a fantastic view of the city from the balcony. Also had roof access so you could view the east side of the city.
