i dont, they dont either apparently. I have searched the council online planning documents and cant find it there either. Im guessing this was a very last minute decision.

Its not a smart meter. I did ask if they could replace the broken meter with a smart pay as you go meter, however i was told they would need to attend to put a normal meter in first, then come back to install a smart meter. Im worried that top-ups ive put onto the key will be gone when they do replace the meter (i have receipts but some of them are so old the thermal ink has faded away) im guessing then they have no idea how much ive used, and with it being a PAYG meter, will they add a massive debt to it when its fixed, or just continue as normal? The bill is in my name now, the landlord had given us the wrong company to contact (he said we were with SSE) they had no record of us, turns out after lots of calls to SP networks, that we are Scottish Power. It was then that i changed it into my name. Im half tempted to say it fixed itself and only broke again last week.

Just an update on this: Ive sent them a formal email with 5 workings days to reply. Basically listing all the issues that arise from the change of access, and how it will effect us. Ive also supplied a list of suggested resolutions including supplying blinds, adding extra soundproofing to affected rooms and including integrated appliances in the asking price. Also pointed out that we were not told of this at the time of reservation, and knowing this we wouldn't have went for the plot. Just waiting to hear back.

This! In east ren, they charge £30 for a bulk uplift. People don't pay it, if you leave it in the street and complain to the council they come pick it up. Adding this charge just means more fly tipping.

Thanks, yeah it's Oatlands, although when you say to anyone, they have no idea where it is. The new retail park, I keep hearing conflicting things, are some of the stores open already? Or is it still a building site? Not sure if the images I've seen are artists renders or actual pictures.

Don't think they need extras, it looks like it's just scenic long shots and stunt actors they are filming. The interior shots of the cathedral are being filmed in an old airship hanger near London (with the actual actors) The Glasgow filming looks like it's B Unit filming unfortunately.

Upstairs neighbour (our of work Ned) has had his mates round the last few days, windows open, music blaring and drinking. Throwing glass empties into the close. Do I call the police non emergency number?

Yeah, our joiner who is meant to be fitting the flooring at the end of the month is still working. I've had to cancel him, which is a shame as he will loose out money for this month but make up for it when things start running again. Are most workers on the bigger constructions sites/new home build contractors?

Update, one of them left in a taxi, he almost rolled down the stairs he was so drunk. 20 minutes later he's back, went to the shop which is literally 5 minutes walk away, to get more drink. It just annoys me these people don't give a shit, they just want to sit and drink, play loud music and be dicks.

Thanks, yeah, they now have their front door open, so the noise is carrying down the stairwell and into every other flat. At least 5/6 of them in there when it's only 1 person who lives there.

Cheers mate, that's really helpful. Avant have been great up until we set the completion date, then nothing. They've still not technically told us that construction stopped (although if you read the news you would know) Ours flat is structurally sound, from what I can see it's only the kitchen, finishing touches needing doing, so I'm hoping it's not too far off. I know a few people living on the site and they've said once complete the flats are stunning. We were told just before lockdown that we were 3 weeks away from our demonstration day, so even after a staggered lockdown and one trade at a time I'm hoping it won't be months and months (depends on when lockdown is relaxed) I wasn't sure how furlough would work, as I know my company are planning on using it until June when it stops, unless it's extended. So I'm not sure if there's incentive for trades to go back to work instead of furlough? 100% selfish reasons I know. First home nerves, mortgage offer expires in three months and I don't think anyone knows if they'll keep a job longer than that right now. *edit - we are at the final touches stage of the build, do you know of the people likely to do those (e.g flooring, appliances, painting etc) are avant employees or contractors?

Police arrived at 10.45pm (after calling 101 at 5.30pm) I realise its non emergency Between calling and the police arriving slot of people left, smashing bottles down the staircase. Police arrived, walked through the broken glass and asked him to clean it up, there were still some other people in the flat and when asked who they were, said "I'm not saying" the police seemed fine with that and didn't ask them to go home. 10 minutes after the police left, the music cane on louder than before and two taxis arrived; each with people who had left earlier but returned with some more booze (and presumably had food) I really don't want to have to call the police again, because they seem like they don't care. As long as they are inside. One of the party, had the worst cough I've heard, deep, smokers cough but from the lungs not the throat. The main thing that's starting to annoy me is the taxis, they seem to be taking them everywhere, I'm guessing they won't get stopped by police if they are in a taxi, but walking to the shops/mates house they will. Making it worse; the flat is a top floor one. So each and every one of them is waking past everyone else's door, coughing, smashing bottles. There are kids and disabled residents in this block too.

Don't know if people saw my post a few days ago, neighbour having a house party, loads of people coming and going up and down the staircase, smashed bottles and shouting in the close. It quietened down, police attended and told them to be quiet (didn't ask the people that didn't live there to leave, they asked them for ID or names and none of them said a thing, police didn't seem bothered) As soon as the police left, more people arrived in taxis and the party went on till 5am. Yesterday afternoon we heard people arriving again with drink, I'd say 5/6 people last night which went on all night, and is still going. These fuckwits are mental, they are endangering their lives and others, I know the occupants of the flat has a baby due soon, doesn't work at all, and most of the "guests" seem to be of the same persuasion. What can I say to 101 to get them to attend and disperse this? I feel like a dick getting them back here and they aren't able to do anything, I guess because they aren't out in public, and they get around that by getting taxis to the shop for booze.

The only reason to be fair that I've not been on the phone 24/7 is that it's a small building, I don't want any comeback from this if police keep turning up to "annoy" him.

I should say, the mum doesn't live in that flat, it's a single occupancy flat and the number stays elsewhere, I think the flat is only used for parties and he stays with the mum the rest of the time. The blocks does have a disabled resident and a flat with loads of young kids, so his mates drunkenly going up and down everyday is my main concern, and the guys coughing, not covering their mouth whilst going past front doors. I'm guessing it's here's probably drugs involved too, as one of them keep going out on a pushbike, disappears for ten minutes and appears back. There's also a massive kitchen knife on the pavement outside the flat (directly under his window) which I'm guessing has been chucked out the window in a drunken rage or when the police chapped the door the other night they purposely chucked it out so they didn't find it in the flat.

You'd think, but I genuinely believe that the police are ok with it, because they are contained into one flat, not realising they are coming and going, using multiple taxis, visiting shops, and spreading the virus. If they had been in a park, the police would have moved them on, but because they are in a flat, and the noise isn't too excessive, it's deemed ok. I'll email my local msp to see what they can do.

Yeah, I was thinking that, and it's probably brown due to the amount of works going on nearby. I know a Scottish Water were digging up the Jenny burn up until a few weeks ago so maybe that's had some impact. I can't see an obvious inlet or outlet for the water from the main pond, I've seen photos from years ago where the water was relatively "clean" so I'm wondering if it's a case of blocked pipes or something. I also think it's a case of the council not touching it because the developer now owe it, and the developer isn't going to do anything with it until all the houses are built.

This ☝️, we have an issue where our bin sheds are full of cardboard and packaging because it's a new estate. Council won't touch it if it's on the ground and if it's blocking the bins then they won't empty them either. Take a Stanley knife and cut up the cardboard into the general waste bins. Even just a few slices and most boxes will fit.

Yeah, before we moved we had a guy in his 70's who would walk to Tesco each morning to get a newspaper, nothing else. He wouldn't wear a mask. I know some people don't watch telly, and a newspaper is the only way of getting their news, but surely a neighbour or delivery service would do this with a lot less risk? One day in April the Tesco "greeter" went crazy at a man for coming in, walking stick, coughing, every day to buy a scratch card. Everyone in the store heard it and I totally agree, some things should not be sold during a pandemic.

Shouldn't anyone not wearing a mask or wearing it properly be denied entry to a shop? It's private property and if you have a medical condition you probably shouldn't be out then. Get someone else to do it.

12 years old and getting the train that distance, without money, no phone. Surely it's the parents that are the cause of this? Yeah the train should have been checked before they locked up, but I find it hard to believe that they were both "sleeping" on the train. Probably hiding in the toilets or an unlocked cab. We are in the middle of a pandemic but the mother doesn't see the issue in letting her kids get on trains to glasgow just to pass some time. You know the kids were probably running about, playing music on their phones etc.

Police need to keep an eye on this area, I stumbled across this area last year during a lockdown walk and it's secluded, away from any paths, dark and filled with empty bottles of drink.

(Wed 24th Mar 2021 6:58am)
We stumbled on the area I think they are reporting about. We used the abandoned Thornly Park sports campus for running during the first lockdown, totally empty and all roads/paths/grass areas were accessible to run around in. After a few weeks the kids started hanging about, drinking in the abandoned student accommodation until they burned two of the blocks to the ground. A week after that I was running round the campus and had an out of breath security guard chasing me trying to get my attention. He said it's now off limits and I couldn't run there so I wandered under the old railway path, along a stream and makeshift bridge into some heavy woodland but with a path carved out. Ended up in the woods behind dykebar and it was filled with broken bottles, beer cans and evidence of fires. I was amazed how quiet it was despite being next to a fairly busy road. I'm guessing the hospital security don't do patrols that far up.

Someone on Broomielaw smashed a bus shelter last week and the glass was all swept into the cycle/bus lane and its been there since. Reported it a few days ago, council called yesterday to say they cant see any broken bus shelters! Aye, because it was fixed and all the glass swept into the cycle lane. Had to tell them to go back and look in the cycle lane for the broken glass. Crazy.

I've ordered two since I moved into the GCC area, mostly because our neighbours aren't bothered by the overflowing blue bins after 3/4 days so I've done it on their behalf. Technically you could keep ordering loads, even if they cotton on and don't give them the requests still block up their system and impact their stats for a while.

One point I've noticed is that for the last six months or so, I've never seen anyone drop litter, wether in a public place or from a moving vehicle. I know I'm probably very lucky but I honestly think the majority of the litter around Glasgow is from overflowing bins/lack of bins/fly tipping/wind blowing overflowing bins. I have seen people trying to add to a full bin in Queen's Park recently but at least it's showing some respect and thought. I mean yeah they should take home any rubbish etc but if your back yard is overflowing with rubbish and flytipping anyway, you don't really want to be adding to it. Maybe easier access to a map of your nearest public litter bin? Like they do with the accessible toilet scheme? Get businesses to say they will accept any rubbish as long as it's smaller than a carrier bag?

(Wed 31st Mar 2021 10:37am)
One thing I've noticed recently since the new bin schedule started, if you report a missed collection they used to turn up a few days later to collect. Now they wait until the next pickup date. Guessing the figure "what's a couple extra days" but it's really annoying, especially when they can't do their job the first time!
by
barrglas
(Wed 31st Mar 2021 10:47am)
Yeah, we had this too. Brand new street and flats, everyone moved in at the same time. We made sure to flatten all our cardboard, and it obviously didn't fit in the blue bins due to there being 2 bins for 8 flats, with everyone buying new furniture or getting rid of packaging. We filled the bins, placed the excess to the side, all wrapped up to keep it organised. The blue bin truck arrived the first time it was due to be emptied and didn't touch it. Apparently too much stuff surround the bins so they refused! Two weeks later I had to throw all the cardboard in the regular bins to get rid of it and they finally came in to empty the tiny amount in the blue bins. That's why no ones recycling! The blue bins are too small and politics means they aren't touching any excess cardboard.
by
barrglas
(Wed 31st Mar 2021 10:45am)
I think this is their excuse for the reduced pickups, whereas the actual issue seems to be lack of education on what goes into the blue bins. I read somewhere that every time something "foreign" is found in the recycling load, the council can be charged 2.5k to fix it/clean the line. Maybe this way they can reduce the amount they collect but blame us for not recycling enough, when really it's lack of knowledge that's causing the issue.

Signed up for deliveroo a few months ago, not done a delivery yet as I managed to get a part time job. Seems easy enough, the paperwork can take weeks though to get approved. Think I was a couple of months from start to finish as I was on a wait list for a few weeks. Tried Uber too, but that was a longer wait. Still get daily emails asking to upload my documents but it's not very clear what they need. From a few friends who courier/cycle it's seems alright, can be good pay on Friday/Saturday nights but be warned that busy places like McDonald's will have car drivers waiting outside constantly refreshing the app for jobs, so if it's not busy you can go hours without a job. A few tips I was given were: Don't buy an expensive bike - many places don't have bike parking outside and nowhere to chain your bike. If it's a cheap bike you can get away with just locking a wheel to the frame. Kit - use the free kit, it's branded but really good quality, you might feel like an idiot at first but it's worth it. Always have a spare tyre and inner tube/pump too. Work hours - unless you stay in the city centre you'll probably only get work on Fridays/Saturday. Rest of the week there are teams of riders who sit in the city waiting for orders. You can still make decent money on the weekend but make sure you go into it knowing it's only going to be beer money you'll be making and it take a day or two for your legs to recover!

I've been signed up to a few agencies for a couple of years. Most of them provide a free service but you have more chance of getting parts of you pay for their premium services. Most job are glasgow/Edinburgh based and a fair few are outside of the city centre so you'd need a car to get to them. A lot of the casting will have a set brief, so if you don't fit the look they are looking for then they won't cast you. It's not a way to make money, if you lucky it's £100-200 per job and the most I've seen a maybe one or two jobs every couple of months. But again there's a slim chance you get picked.

Yeah, like everyone else is saying, the balconies there look nice but on sunny days the place will be stinking. I walk past it on the Clyde walkway daily and even on cold/rainy days it stinks. Just depends on high way the wind is blowing. Because it changes daily you can never get used to it. There's also always work going on in the facility itself with diggers/trucks coming and going at all hours. I would avoid personally. The new builds along at oatlands are better although you have the issue of the chromium in the soil to deal with there.

Called up tonight to find out mine is in two weeks, which was weird becuase I moved to south side last year and haven't changed GP's yet. Phoned back on behalf of my partner to find out that he won't get one until he changed his details with his Gp? 2 years younger than me and in the same situation, so I'm not sure how organised it is? Can they give out appointments over the phone or is it strictly "no auto generated appointment, nothing they can do?"
by

(Sun 16th May 2021 7:41pm)
They are saying no "walk-ins" but they didn't have my name or details at the door, after i was told by the phoneline i was booked in. They are giving out timeslots e.g. 12-6 or 2-4, which are essentially walk-ins. They just tae your details and let you go in, the nurses then find your NHS account before injecting and it doesnt matter to them where you are registered. If you really want it, you can just walk up, say you've been told to come by the hotline, they don't have any real way of checking.
by
barrglas
(Fri 21st May 2021 10:20am)
Can I just add too, they are saying "no walk ins" however if you call from tomorrow you'll be advised a 2/4/6/8 hour timeslot to just turn up for a vaccination, these are basically walk-ins but they want to monitor numbers, hence why the people at the vaccination centres are saying "no walk ins" just call and you'll be told to go to your nearest centre. According to a friend who is working on the line, they are not turning anyone away, looks like they are going to be using surplus stock in Glasgow to try and bring the numbers under control.

(Sun 23rd May 2021 8:52pm)
You won't be skipping the queue. They honestly can't get enough people to come right now. Centres are busy at lunchtime and after work but during the day they have so much extra capacity and vaccines are wasted if there's no one there. To give you an idea, each vaccine is taken from a little vial, which can hold multiple doses. The vaccination tables don't have fridges so they need used up within a certain timeframe or else they are binned. Scotland is currently inviting anyone over 30 to make an appointment but in Glasgow it's anyone over 18. They have spent the last few months making sure those who need them first are done and have focused on second doses for the last month, now they need 18+ to set up and get it. It's a mess the way the blue envelope system is set up, so they are trying to quickly and discreetly invite younger age groups to call to arrange theirs if they can. You won't take anyone's space honestly.

Yeah, the National phone line isn't the greatest, it's usually someone in england your talking to "NHS test and trace" who will take your call. At least with the number above it's Glasgow based and they know how urgent it is to get everyone vaccinated. I know people who have no GP or moved recently who were told by the National phone line to register with a GP then call back (this could take weeks) called the glasgow number and got an appointment for the same day.

Not on this number I'm afraid, this is a glasgow health board number and it's unlikely they will be able to help. You can phone your local health board and ask to speak to the covid appointments team, as they will most certainly be able to help better than the National number.
by
barrglas
(Sun 23rd May 2021 9:29pm)
Good question! Honestly, no. Unless your in an at risk group, in which case they can give you a second 8 weeks after the first. I think they are targeting first doses just now and I don't think anywhere in the uk is doing a second dose until at least 8 weeks. In Scotland I believe currently it's 10-12 weeks after the first, but they are trying to get that down to 8.
by
barrglas
(Sun 23rd May 2021 9:27pm)
So just before you get your jag, the nurse will confirm your name/address and find your NHS account (you don't need to be registered in glasgow to get it, they will not turn anyone away) This is when the NHS see you as having your first dose, the appointment system is separate from the actual NHS database to an extent, so you'll get your second dose based on your first, not the "appointment date" if that makes sense?
by
barrglas
(Sun 23rd May 2021 9:25pm)
In answer to your demand question, a large percent of the population want the vaccination, however currently it's not clear that anyone 18+ in glasgow can get it. Most people are waiting for a text/call/letter and feel they are taking someone's spot by calling. There's also the usual factors of people being wary, scared or genuinely not being able to attend the appointments so I believe hundreds of thousands of doses have been binned since January. The centres aren't as busy as you'd think, apart from peak times.
by
barrglas
(Sun 23rd May 2021 9:32pm)
Just that you live in glasgow and want to arrange an appointment! Don't worry, they are all super friendly on the phone line, it helps if you can attend a vaccination site near you ASAP, usually first thing in the morning they are all pretty empty.
by
barrglas
(Sun 23rd May 2021 9:35pm)
Was it the number above you called? This one is different from the National number who can only really check your account for an appointment. This number can create them. And yes, from tomorrow you can get one if your not in a south side postcode.
by
barrglas
(Sun 23rd May 2021 9:43pm)
Was this the number above? As above the National number can only check if you have an appointment and suggest things to you, whereas the Glasgow number can book these on the line. Even if you aren't registered in glasgow you only need to tell them you live here, but aren't registered here.

Officially there's no "choice" however they will give you Pfizer if you are under 30, if they don't have any, they will ask if you want AZ or rearrange. There's no guarantee that a centre will have a particular version.
by

(Sun 23rd May 2021 9:47pm)
I've heard from a few people who haven't had theirs and are in a priority group, anyone 18+ who hasn't had one should call, this latest push isn't for the young only, it's anyone that's been missed. No system is perfect so unfortunately a few might have been missed but as with anyone, call the number above and get one. I can imagine people will sit and wait for an envelope, when you could call and get one for the same/next day.

A friend has been quickly recruited to join the team on this number, starts tomorrow, massive push for Glasgow vaccinations to help stop any future spikes. (Sun 23rd May 2021 10:07pm)
You can, however this link will only tell you if you already have an appointment (and not received a letter yet) but it won't allow you to book. If you call the number on the post, they can book you in, even if the link says no. You might be given an appointment for a few weeks time automatically, if you call up, they'll usually ask if you can get in quicker if your in Glasgow.
by
barrglas
(Sun 23rd May 2021 10:20pm)

Before you get the actual jab the nurse will take your details to find your NHS account. Doesn't need to be in glasgow

So your telling me that Glasgow isn't pushing for 18+ to get vaccinated? That you cannot call that number and get an appointment? I think you have the wrong end of the stick, I'm not saying the process has changed or that people must now call up for their appointment. I'm saying that they are desperate for people to come forward and get it. Yes, if you do nothing you'll eventually get a letter in the post with a date, but the issue with that system for younger folks is they are the most likely age group to not know their GP or have updated their address with them. How long do they wait for a letter? Weeks/months? Until they find out they aren't registered at the correct address. Students are the most likely to be registered at their parents addresses and Glasgow has a large student population, how long do they wait for a letter that won't come? It's likely the majority of people who use their GP often are already vaccinated in a priority group so this number I've posted is a way for those who are wanting it, to get it done ASAP. So I'm not sure where your "full of shite" is coming from? Call them up tomorrow if you have any question as they are very friendly, or wait for your letter. The whole point of this new way of booking is to get as many people done as quickly as possible, to try and get glasgow out of the levels we are currently in.

Just to add to what's already been said, So the Self Employed grants are no use to taxi drivers? The 2 lots of taxi only grants were of no use to taxi drivers? Im thinking that they just under-declared earnings for years to avoid tax and now the Self Employment grants are coming back to bite them. Also, they can still work while receiving these, yet others on furlough cant/struggle to find a second job? As someone who uses multiple taxis a day for work, i have no sympathy. 7/10 times ill get a rude driver who wont pick me up from my specified location and alot of companies now charge waiting time at red lights etc. If they are struggling alot, why not remove these simple obstacles first?
