I just checked with the Oracle (my Fiancé who works on the vaccine helpline) and she confirmed that they would ask people to register online and she also added that in any case where they do register over the phone, its usually only elderly people who cant work computers. All she would do is go to the exact same registration site and fill it in for them. If banks gave people mortgages on whatever amount they offered, those people would be fucked when the market flips.. people get fucked by just the home report value dropping in price so imagine you need to sell and the market is now slow and your home report value has dropped 10k.. but you also paid 20k over your home report.. your now losing 30k instead of 10. People need to look at the money they pay over the home report as money gone, not money “invested” in the home you purchased. Banks in England value homes for prospective clients when they apply for mortgages and loan money based on the valuation. People in England are still offering their own cash as money above said valuation in order to secure the sale.. which is partly why the Bank of England raised interest rates. In fact all other banks in the uk raised interest rates because they were raised by the Bank of England. Scottish banks will use the home report value as a guide but still carry out their own valuations which usually fall in line with home report but not always. I obviously don’t know how bad things are at your mums for you.. but if it is tolerable, I would encourage you to continue to focus on job hunting and once you have steady income look at buying instead of renting.
