  • It means it's perfect for a mysterious fire. by rg019940 (Wed 27th Feb 2019 10:48pm)
  • Sounds like it, unless it's one of those shows where Ticket Master state you need to supply the ID and card it was purchased with for entry on the night. And even then, that's usually at the request of promoters/artists and not too common. Otherwise, he should have just emailed you them over. by rg019940 (Thu 21st Mar 2019 3:10pm)
  • I've had that issue a couple of times where they're actually early rather than late - complained that said trains departed before scheduled time to various places and every time I get the stock line of ensuring I arrive in plenty of time. And when I point to them dodging the matter at heart, I've been met with indifference or lack of knowledge. And since it's SotRail - usually both at the same time. by rg019940 (Sat 6th Apr 2019 12:52pm)

  • I completely forgot about that until reading this. Remember it being cringey, though. And there was some Pop Idol reject called David who did the same thing but came to high schools and stuff. That was equally cringe. by rg019940 (Tue 4th Jun 2019 5:18pm)
  • I'm not sure, officer. Have you tried the herbs and spices aisle in a decent-sized supermarket? I'm sure they'll have a good range of Schwarz products. by rg019940 (Fri 7th Jun 2019 3:34pm)
  • Alexander Thomson is relatively decent - cheap, good rooms, central. by rg019940 (Tue 18th Jun 2019 7:06pm)
  • There's a small car park at the Billy Connolly mural. No-one ever uses it and free after six, used it loads of times. by rg019940 (Sat 29th Jun 2019 4:26pm)

  • Having a constant presence on Facebook by posting about the gigs in the relevant Facebook groups, also, depending on your budget - Facebook ads. If you know how to use them, their visibility is great but is very much down to how much you spend. Getting it listed on as many different event listing sites as possible such as What'sOnNetwork etc. Also, posters in the venues these gigs are happening. Lastly, but most importantly, entry/exit flyering gigs - do your research into who's playing in the same and related genres - it's not great but I did that for a gig I put on a few months back and got great engagement from it. And the people at the gigs aren't daft, they'll know it's similar to what they're about to go and see. by rg019940 (Mon 26th Aug 2019 9:39pm)
  • The Ice Box usually has some good music nights going on and there's an open mic every second Sunday, too. by rg019940 (Sat 28th Sep 2019 12:17pm)
  • Twickets and Scarlet Mist are the ethical ones which can't be sold for more than face value. Always worth a shout on social media, too, especially if there's an event page for it on Facebook. That said, a lot of obviously fake profiles have started cropping up on these in the last few months but you can spot them a mile away. by rg019940 (Mon 14th Oct 2019 1:27pm)
  • If you look up Petra Taylor's open mic nights on Facebook - she runs two of them, one at the Ice Box and one at Jimmy's. Both are on Sundays and she alternates them. by rg019940 (Mon 21st Oct 2019 4:23pm)

  • Going by the iCafe on Ingram Street I've been to several times, I'd say this fits your bill. Passed the one on Sauchiehall Street a lot and always seems to be the same. Not sure if there's any other dotted about the city which might be closer, though. by rg019940 (Thu 7th Nov 2019 7:03pm)

  • Handful of Facebook groups which may help - * [Bands, Promoters, Gigs UK](https://www.facebook.com/groups/310517925742002/?ref=group_browse) \- there's over 50k people in there * [UK Gigs, Bands & Promoters](https://www.facebook.com/groups/446143268843309/?ref=group_browse) * [Scotland's Music Network](https://www.facebook.com/groups/183501001693648/) * [Glasgow Music Scene](https://www.facebook.com/groups/glasgowmusic/?ref=bookmarks) The right person for you guys might be in that group or they can put you in the direction of the right person but most importantly, do your own research - make sure you're on the same page and they're the right fit for you and they'll actually work for you, don't get one just to make your life easier. Great thing about music in 2020 is they don't need to be in Glasgow, they can be anywhere in the UK unless you're really wanting a proper hands-on manager. by rg019940 (Sun 12th Jan 2020 1:08pm)

  • I worked in a vets for a number of years - essentially it was a reception job but had loads of nursing duties. Was never employed as an RVN but as an Animal Nurse Assistant and started studying for real at Barony. That was my experience of it until the more people I worked with, the more I hated the people working in that line of work and bailed. by rg019940 (Wed 4th Mar 2020 11:34pm)

  • Decent and taking walk-ins are pretty much complete opposites when it comes to tattoos. The only exceptions would be if there's a last minute cancellation/no-show but good tattooists have waiting times for a reason. I get you're just wanting them touched up but a quick Google will show who is best to do it - artists cater to different styles. You more than likely won't need a full consultation and even messaging their Facebook pages with a photo of what you've got is more than enough for them to work off. by rg019940 (Sun 15th Mar 2020 6:31pm)
  • Also, the last person to say "we're all in this together" ended up being found out as a pig fucker. by rg019940 (Thu 19th Mar 2020 2:23pm)
  • All depends on the style you're after. You can Google "glasgow tattoos" and get a bunch of places show up - pretty much all of them will have galleries/links to Facebook/Instagram and tell you what style they cater to. by rg019940 (Mon 4th May 2020 2:58pm)
  • As someone that's put on the odd gig here and there and the last one I did was an indie night, I'd agree with that. Was tripping over the number of supports I could have had and loads of bands asking to be part of it or the next one. by rg019940 (Mon 1st Jun 2020 2:41pm)
  • More on the rock scene than the metal scene but all the comments here are certainly applicable to the rock scene too. Not seen too much in the case of rock bands being part of the same bill as slam bands, mind. Most I've seen is rock bills with a more tame metal bill than can fit in with rock bands or a rock band as the warm-up/opener for two metal bands etc. As for M2tM, I'll add this: it's not rigged in the traditional sense. Certainly, it seems the past few years, the favourite and best quality band of the final always gets beaten by the band who brings more people because it means there's likely to be more "bums on seats" in the Sophie tent and tickets to Bloodstock sold. On the other hand, the intention of having Scotland as just one locale and different cities as different rounds this year was, frankly, bullshit when they could easily justify them each being their own competition. by rg019940 (Mon 1st Jun 2020 2:49pm)
  • I've been nowhere near the city for months so I've not seen them but I thought I'd just say hi from one Kinda Funny fan to another! by rg019940 (Mon 22nd Jun 2020 3:48pm)

  • If you've got parcel-picking experience, you'll be golden - pretty much all the agencies are always recruiting for different sites. It doesn't require much brain power and the shifts fly in (I've been doing it whilst at uni to top up SAAS), long as you've got common sense and get on with your work, they'll likely keep you on after Christmas. I usually also take any overtime I'm offered when on shift as well - they like that. by rg019940 (Mon 2nd Nov 2020 12:33pm)
  • Have you tried the mushrooms in a chicken and mushroom Pot Noodle? Otherwise, I couldn't say, officer. by rg019940 (Sun 20th Dec 2020 4:05pm)
  • I find mine therapist here: [https://www.counselling-directory.org.uk](https://www.counselling-directory.org.uk) Lots of good search filters and some will do more affordable sessions based on personal circumstances such as if you're a student or key worker. FWIW - I'm not doing CBT but person-centred therapy, make sure you do your research and see if you'd benefit from what they specialise in and if you'd be a good fit with them. A lot will offer a taster type session to find this out. by rg019940 (Mon 21st Dec 2020 4:01pm)
  • Was literally coming in here to make a similar joke. by rg019940 (Sat 16th Jan 2021 12:28pm)
  • If you're able to go private - go here: [https://www.counselling-directory.org.uk](https://www.counselling-directory.org.uk) As someone who is currently in therapy, mine has stopped for the time being due to the current situation (as is to be expected) so there may be a wait but a lot are open to doing phone/Zoom sessions. Another factor to consider - and I've said it to the last few people on here who have been looking for help - do your research and make sure the therapist is the right fit for you. Which is very much a two-way street as they may feel you're not the right fit for them - and that's ok. They all have their own specialisms and different areas they cover so that should help you find the right one, too. Most also offer a taster session so you both get a chance to figure out if you'll be able to work together. But most importantly, sorry to hear you're struggling. by rg019940 (Sat 16th Jan 2021 11:02pm)
  • Join My Band would be one place to start. Other options would be sifting through the myriad of Glasgow-based music groups on Facebook and finding others that way. by rg019940 (Wed 27th Jan 2021 1:59pm)
  • I found mine on here: [https://www.counselling-directory.org.uk/search.php?reset\_session=yes&distance=15&search=Glasgow](https://www.counselling-directory.org.uk/search.php?reset_session=yes&distance=15&search=Glasgow) What I will say is do your homework. Most therapists will offer a taster session as each will have their own area of expertise and as professionals, they won't just take your money and attempt to help. Or at least, they shouldn't. On a human level, they'll only want to work with people who they think they can mesh with and as the patient, that should go for you as well. Hope you're able to get the help you need and deserve. by rg019940 (Thu 25th Feb 2021 12:58am)
  • Any excuse to recommend Anchor Lane: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=En2F4it5W8c](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=En2F4it5W8c) by rg019940 (Thu 4th Mar 2021 11:41pm)
  • Unlikely any are open under current guidelines and restrictions. There's a bunch of decent phone apps that can help or there's a whole variety of clip-on tuners which are costlier than an app but more accurate. Most music shops will have an online store you can order from direct in some form so you can still support them that way. by rg019940 (Mon 12th Apr 2021 5:34pm)

  • I found mine on here and some will cater for students/unemployed/various other circumstances: [https://www.counselling-directory.org.uk/search.php?reset\_session=yes&distance=15&search=Glasgow](https://www.counselling-directory.org.uk/search.php?reset_session=yes&distance=15&search=Glasgow) I understand you're struggling and I'm really sorry to hear that but what I will say is do your homework. Most therapists will offer a taster session as each will have their own area of expertise and as professionals, they won't just take your money and attempt to help if they think you'd be better off in the hands of someone who specialises in what you're dealing with - they may even be able to recommend a colleague. On a human level, they'll only want to work with people who they think they can mesh with and as the patient, that should go for you as well. As someone who's recently finished therapy, trust me when I say it gets better. Hope you're able to get the help you need and deserve. by rg019940 (Thu 10th Jun 2021 11:40pm)

  • It's Flash from the recent Zack Snyder films (whatever his name is) and going through the multi-verse so current speculation has Keaton and Affleck Batmen incarnations popping up going by other places which have had film crews. Given the name, "Flashpoint" will be Flash going back in time and resetting the timeline. by rg019940 (Wed 28th Jul 2021 5:18pm)

  • Kelvinhaugh St is where I usually park. I wouldn't park any further down than the fire station as everyone leaving that narrow road from the venue makes it a bit of a free-for-all. I usually got there about half 6 in pre-COVID times so parking was free but not sure if it's since changed. by rg019940 (Wed 8th Sep 2021 2:08pm)

  • BandsInTown is a good shout. Another good shout is emailing lists from promoters and listing sites like Gigs in Scotland etc. Saves you getting fucked over by social media algorithms. by rg019940 (Sun 10th Oct 2021 1:08am)
  • I park at the car park across the road at the Billy Connolly mural. Enjoy! I saw IDLES in Birmingham a couple of weekends ago and they were on top form! Gutted I can't make tomorrow as I've done myself a mischief so if anyone is after a spare ticket, it's free to a good home. by rg019940 (Wed 2nd Feb 2022 8:08pm)
  • There's so many I could name but my mind immediately goes to The Temperance Movement in 2016 or Frank Carter and the Rattlesnakes in 2019, right before the pandemic. by rg019940 (Thu 17th Feb 2022 11:48am)

  • As most people have made venue recommendations, I'll add this: there's a really healthy classic rock scene in the UK right now with so many young bands using those influences and for a lot of them, Glasgow is a regular tour spot because of the abundance of venues this kind of size. So you may find your new favourite band might not be from Glasgow but chances are they've played here and will do so again. But if you particularly want something local and new in rock - you can't go wrong with Anchor Lane. by rg019940 (Mon 2nd May 2022 9:13pm)
  • I saw them at MK last weekend to accompany a pal. They went right past me as a teenager as I was into other stuff but last week's show was class. Enjoy! by rg019940 (Sat 28th May 2022 3:33pm)
  • Yeah, they were really cool, too. I think Glasgow has Starcrawler - they were so bad we left to get food/water to soak up the alcohol and stop dehydrating in the heat. by rg019940 (Sat 28th May 2022 3:44pm)

  • I saw them in London on Saturday. He's blown his voice out so can't hit the highs which also meant a shorter set and a bunch of songs missing from the set. That said, because he's used the lower end of his register, he sounded better than he has for a good 20+ years. by rg019940 (Mon 4th Jul 2022 7:54pm)
  • I got the offer of a gold circle ticket for tomorrow for £90 (think face value is something like £140 and normal GA is £100) and if it wasn’t for work, I’d be there in a shot. by rg019940 (Mon 4th Jul 2022 7:58pm)
