  • I did film and media at Stirling as a joint degree from 2005. Being that technology changed drastically during that period it was 100% a waste of time. Unfortunately I can't vouch for the standards of the teaching staff either 🙄 by organisedchaos17 (Thu 2nd Apr 2020 5:53pm)
  • Worth saying I pursued and finally got back seven single week tickets off them to use whenever I want so it's worth emailing them if you're in the same position. by organisedchaos17 (Fri 3rd Apr 2020 8:34am)
  • Third this. 4.90 for 330ml bottles of that are very strong. My flatmate drank a few too on sat and was rather worse for wear on Sunday. The espresso martini was my fave! by organisedchaos17 (Wed 22nd Apr 2020 10:02pm)

  • Haven't felt any anxiety in restaurants so far as everyone has worked really hard to distance. Can't say the same for supermarkets. In Asda Toryglen this afternoon and most shoppers are either not wearing a mask or cutting about the shop and leaning past others with a mask below the nose. It was awful. by organisedchaos17 (Sat 22nd Aug 2020 4:10pm)
  • Came here to say Oatlands. I'm always fascinated that no one has heard of it but when I was doing a project at my old work four years ago I came across a map from the 1940s that had Oatlands on it. So it's not like the developers dreamt it up. I love it here. Less than ten mins to the Green and two mins to the m74. Perfectly placed and very affordable compared to the proper southside! by organisedchaos17 (Sat 29th Aug 2020 9:55pm)

  • Won't lie it was a major consideration for me when I bought my first flat. As much as I love the aesthetic of a tenement flat and it was in my budget I went with a new build (5 years problem free... So far!). Three friends in tenements in the 18 months prior had been hit with insane repair/refurb costs that resulted in 15-40k loans. Statistically that's still really low compared to how many tenement dwellers I know, but wasn't a risk I was willing to take. by organisedchaos17 (Thu 28th Jan 2021 6:43pm)
  • Two were roofs, one was a huge chunk of work (windows, pointing and full communal overhaul) that was voted for about 2 months after he moved in. He's still bitter about the seller never mentioning the discussions had been underway for over a year. by organisedchaos17 (Thu 28th Jan 2021 6:55pm)

  • From reading your post it gives a lot of 'I'm better than all you commoners are because I've lived somewhere else' vibes. It's just pure haughty. tbf I think you need to get over yourself a wee bit. by organisedchaos17 (Wed 19th May 2021 6:55pm)
  • Only saying it to give you my perspective. I know nothing about you but what you've written so it's gut feeling only. But that's the attitude I'm getting from it, and you may find that there's others who interpret the same. Others may see it totally differently! Just something to think about in how you present yourself 🤷🏻‍♀️ by organisedchaos17 (Wed 19th May 2021 7:06pm)
  • Wouldn't be bothered about football opening up... At a football stadium. I'm bothered that they're blocking off the green for a month to those that live around it for whom it is their only green space. by organisedchaos17 (Mon 24th May 2021 1:59pm)
  • Admittedly I enjoy the convenience of gigs in the green as I can walk home. But as my local green space for walks during this past 16 months I do object to anything that takes 50% of the space of the publics hands for weeks or months at a time. by organisedchaos17 (Thu 3rd Jun 2021 2:45pm)

  • I just sold my flat and it went 8% over home report. HR was about 10k above what I expected so it seems Surveyors are starting to push up their assessments to reflect demand and the recent selling prices in the immediate area. Still a wild game out there though. Sold to a wonderful person who had put in bids at almost 20 places so far. by organisedchaos17 (Wed 6th Oct 2021 8:21am)

  • You can do a lot of it yourself. But if you have structural concerns it's worth looking at a pro. Depends how much time you want to spend on it yourself. It can take its toll. by organisedchaos17 (Fri 14th Jan 2022 6:16pm)

  • Tbh the quote sounds about right. I had a timing belt go once and it was chaos. Three garages said it was a write off. My brother took it on as hobby and sorted it over 2-3 months with my dad and then he drove it a further two years. Still probsbly cost them near a grand in parts. Unless you're looking for a new hobby you'd be better with another car. A car of 14 years is only going to get more costly to run - don't let sunken cost fallacy take hold. Also, unless its because you're only looking at ford's it shouldn't be costing you 17k for a 6-7 year old car?! by organisedchaos17 (Wed 19th Jan 2022 11:44pm)
  • Feel that. I lived in ldn for 3 yrs back in 2012 and originally in zone 3 in a massive room for under 400. seeing as the (shitty) salary for my job back then is advertised as about the same now I don't know how people are doing it for double the rent. Love to visit but a few days at a time is plenty! Quality of life is far superior in Glasgow. by organisedchaos17 (Sun 30th Jan 2022 12:56pm)
  • Lia is brilliant but in my experience the others are not close to her league. I've had to get them redone on at least 4 occasions when they've started lifting in days. When Lia does them I get nearly 4 weeks without a chip. by organisedchaos17 (Sun 6th Feb 2022 4:16pm)
  • I've made about 800 selling on depop but they took a lot in fees and postage was messy. On vinted its on the buyer so the price you sell at is the price you pocket. I've sold maybe 250 worth on it so far. I like vinted more. by organisedchaos17 (Sun 13th Feb 2022 6:55pm)
  • For depop you just have to guestimate with royal mail or hermes websites. For hermes shipping on vinted you go by a s/m/l scale. It auto suggests based on item and I've stuck to that . by organisedchaos17 (Sun 13th Feb 2022 7:06pm)
  • This. I sold my flat last year specifically to a lovely couple who had missed out on 10+ previous properties. Had higher offers from BTL but wanted a clear conscience that someone would buy to live and enjoy it as much as I had. My only worry was weeks before move when I heard they were going to pull up my beautiful 5k engineered wood floor.... But not my circus not my monkeys I guess 😂 by organisedchaos17 (Wed 16th Feb 2022 10:27am)
  • My flat in 2016 was a new build and it was a dream as I kept getting outbid and it took the stress out of it at fixed price and a blank canvas. Having to wait a year to paint was fine and I only had one snag that the fixed within a month. I moved and bought a house late last year and it's been... Not such a fun time. There were completion delays which caused some drama in chain and the finish is... Pretty horiffic. My snag list is over 100 and I feel like a depressed sim with very low environment points waiting to get everything fixed. Look very carefully at any show home detail work and finishes and where possible find owners on a development Facebook group or nextdoor and see what they make of the developer. Had I known the finish was so poor with this one I wouldn't have done it I don't think. by organisedchaos17 (Sat 19th Feb 2022 11:05pm)
  • Ach it happens. Scaling up undoubtedly leads to more complications too I guess. Flat was with Avant and they were excellent. Their price points are now insane though sadly. House is from Urban Union who are owned by Robertson I believe. Had hopes that a smaller run org would result in higher quality but (at least in my case) no such luck. There hadn't been a showhome and the agent used to work for Avant and said these were better. Oh how I wish I hadn't taken them at their word 😬 hoping if we get everything suitably rectified it'll all have been worth it... by organisedchaos17 (Sat 19th Feb 2022 11:35pm)

  • Wait for family members to die and pass on anything of value unfortunately. Only reason I was able to top up my deposit savings was due to remaining family members on my dads side passing back to back so everything went to him and he helped us kids boost our pots. • This is a huge part of it. The value increase on 5 years in a central flat (and a career ladder climb) gave a lot of wiggle room to step up to a house further out. Tho deffo had some family help in the first place and don't deny that that was a significant privilege for step one. by organisedchaos17 (Wed 3rd Aug 2022 6:56pm)

  • Having lived in both (ldn 2012-2015, ggow 2016-forevermore) I am bias but would pick Glasgow every time. When you're young and have no financial dependancies London can be great, but it's an extortionate place to live where unless you're on big bucks (I was not, 16k at the start lol) it can be a struggle and you feel like you're missing out because so much is happening All. The. Time. However, it's so much easier/cheaper for trips abroad, food options are plentiful and there's so much culture to experience. I loved my time there but it was also stressful. People are always rushing. Broadly speaking people are much colder. You have to live in a cupboard. Glasgow has amazing culture, the friendliest people of all the places I've lived. More than enough food options and only a short jaunt to the highlands and islands to experience starry skies and nature. Know it isn't always the case these days with cost of living crisis but when I moved back here after London took a pay cut and had a much richer life. Can always still visit London for shows and events. But wouldn't ever move back personally. by organisedchaos17 (Wed 7th Sep 2022 10:09am)

  • The Citz have a crazy amount of resource from the tale for the show they did in 2016(?) Including lots of audio interviews with folks who were there, a handful of whom have sadly since passed. It was fascinating hearing what they recalled as children and the hysteria that grew over a couple of nights. A couple got moved off to stay with other family elsewhere in the city afterwards and their parents didn't think it was safe. The kids were making their own wee weapons from sticks and tin cans to take on the man with the iron teeth. A very Glaswegian approach 🤣 by organisedchaos17 (Mon 5th Dec 2022 8:45am)

  • You could get a spirometer for a tenner online to monitor your peak flow and see if it is improving or worsening. Pluse ox also just to have a broad awareness of your vitals. I had a horrendous flu back in 2011 that it took nearly 3 years to fully recover from. There was very little they could do to help and that was when you could still get appointments. Tracking vitals was really reassuring because it can be hard to know what is better/worse if your body adapts to a new normal. by organisedchaos17 (Fri 13th Jan 2023 4:44pm)

  • Lived here a bit over a year. It's fine. Like every place it's got it's good and slightly less good. I've never felt unsafe walking about. And it somehow has one of the best health centres I've ever dealt with. Sure it would be nicer to afford to live on the other side of the gentrified bridge (train station) and into New lands/Shawlands, but it's nae bad and it's nice to be a 10 min walk from a Highland coo. by organisedchaos17 (Fri 20th Jan 2023 3:46pm)
