  • One time, at band camp, I stuck a flute up my pussy. I heard this on a 75 to Possil. Or it may have been a film. Still unsure by Covernarey (Sat 23rd Apr 2022 6:32am)

  • Best get along to Parkhead Saturday, early mind you, wait for supporters buses, down past the Celtic way, just ask any supporter where the buses park. Was amazed that a couple of friends got one for the last home game we played against that mob. by Covernarey (Thu 5th May 2022 7:21pm)

  • Get the Paisley bus to Gilmour Street station and train direct to Prestwick. Honestly taxi only takes about 10 mins off that short journey tops, also 6-7 people will be two taxis unless you order a mini-van type taxi beforehand. by Covernarey (Wed 11th May 2022 6:23am)
  • You call the police with a noise complaint and they will only respond when every other more serious complaint is dealt with, call them with the same complaint and say it's a breach of the peace and they have to respond quicker. Used to work in a homeless hostel and the police told us to mention a crime was being committed and if we could name the crime their response times are expedited. by Covernarey (Thu 12th May 2022 5:06am)

  • Pissed at a party in Garnethill after work one day, felt the room spin and went downstairs to let myself out to get home. The front close door was locked and I couldn't find the buzzer to let me out. Went up the first floor close window, looked out and thought "Canter, I'll dreepy that" Climbed out, was hanging for about 10 seconds and realised it was really high. Let go and fell about 20 feet turning as I fell to try and land on my feet. When I landed, it was so high and fast that my forehead smacked the ground between my legs as I crumpled and I done the ligaments in my right foot. Wife went mental when I got home out a taxi, big mad egg on my head and limping, was off work for weeks on crutches. by Covernarey (Sat 28th May 2022 12:45am)

  • I know and I'll dont wanna deviate for the OP question. The OP asked why groups like this exist. by Covernarey (Sat 25th Jun 2022 4:06pm)
  • Away and educate yourself why the Orange order exists, where it was formed, by whom and for what reason and tell me it's not in English import. by Covernarey (Sat 25th Jun 2022 4:11pm)
  • To what end? Supported by whom? To do what? Fs mate, just cos you take a tiny bit of a narrative, like your response to the OP, hang an argument on that doesn't change facts by Covernarey (Sat 25th Jun 2022 4:17pm)
  • I've never said nor implied that racism only exists outside Scotland. What I am saying is contrary to that. I used the Orange Lodge as an example of "how can groups" like this be allowed to exist. Oppression in any form is abhorrent and for the naive to think otherwise or single out why one racist group or other should be allowed to exist is my point in creating discourse. Job done as far as I'm concerned, have a good day by Covernarey (Sat 25th Jun 2022 4:29pm)

  • Yes this is it by Covernarey (Tue 28th Jun 2022 9:50pm)
  • I passed there first time, route is pretty simple, surely you could get a Baillieston instructor to show you? If not then as previously suggested get there for 8:30am and wait for tests to take place and follow them round, though there will be parts where they stop for manoeuvres etc so you'd need to be discreet and patient by Covernarey (Wed 29th Jun 2022 11:28pm)
  • Drive the route a few times, keep the head on straight and do what you've been taught to do, good luck by Covernarey (Wed 29th Jun 2022 11:43pm)
  • Google/LHA websites will never replace going to a local housing association and getting an appointment to speak to a housing officer by Covernarey (Sun 3rd Jul 2022 9:32am)
  • They can't stop you from naming the doctor you want to see, you'll have to be flexible with your appointment though. Totally common in shared space G.P. surgeries/Health Centres. I have a G.P. that if I really need to see I can call and make an appointment to see her but tbh any doctor I speak to from my surgery is good for me, they have complete access to all my records, if they need filled in with anything I just let them know or ask if they know/read my notes. by Covernarey (Tue 5th Jul 2022 9:26am)
  • You can bypass your G.P. who will more than likely prescribe medication, which in itself isn't a bad idea but finding the right one will/can take a while. Meds for MH are so varied that it's a really difficult thing to get right. You can make a self referral to MH services 0800 328 9655 who offer CBT which is a proven, well researched, evidence based therapy for mild to moderate depression. Word of warning though, services are overwhelmed and it will take time. Good luck by Covernarey (Thu 7th Jul 2022 11:13pm)

  • Do some real journalism, stop the copy and paste shite. Get out, speak to people on the streets, ask them wtf it's like to live hand to mouth day to day, hold the political class to account, become an activist, seek and print the truth, no holds barred. Don't accept spin as answer to every fucking question. Remember this "Questions answered, answers questioned" by Covernarey (Tue 12th Jul 2022 2:59pm)
  • Glasgow City Council no longer holds any housing stock. Housing stock is split into LHA's local housing associations so depending on where you wish to live you would be best to do two things. 1st present as homeless to your local office. You'll be assessed and categorised in terms of need. Where you wish to be housed. Young single males go to the back of the queue. Unless you're assessed as vulnerable in some way and given a section 5 category. This will allow you to jump queues (I would look online or go to Shelter for support with this) You'll be given a number where you use this to bid weekly on available housing. 2nd attend some of your local housing offices and get your name on their lists. Again, young single males back of the queue. In housing law a young single male is someone aged 18-35. Good luck but it's a minefield by Covernarey (Tue 12th Jul 2022 6:31pm)
  • Get down to the local housing associations, do a Google search you might get lucky, always good to get your face known by them, I'd also pester them weekly x by Covernarey (Tue 12th Jul 2022 6:39pm)

  • I'm a recovering addict with more than 21 years total abstinence. If you go to a GP you may be offered a detox, but it's highly unlikely. Your GP will refer you to your local ADRS Alcohol Drug Recovery Service. If there's children involved you will have to undergo a Parental Substance Misuse Assessment. You may be offered what's known as ORT Opiate Replacement Therapy like methadone or suboxone or Buvidal depending on which worker you get. I would personally recommend attending a Narcotics Anonymous meeting, this is a place where others who have been where you've been, have got clean and mainly apply a 12 Step program. A fellowship of recovering addicts who help each other stay clean. Have a look at this link for meetings information [NA Glasgow ](https://www.glasgowna.com/) Read some of the stuff on there, particularly the printable or downloadable content. If you DM me I will email you lots of NA literature not available on that site too. Good luck by Covernarey (Fri 29th Jul 2022 9:33pm)
  • This is an absolute myth, places like NA have one requirement for attending and that's a desire to get clean. 99% of the people who attend are totally abstinent. The demographic of people who attend NA is NOT the one you are representing and again is a myth. In fact the NA literature specifically only mentions one drug in its whole ethos and that's alcohol due to the confusion and very real risk of substitution. I urge you to challenge your own ideas by going to [NA Member Surveys](https://m.na.org/?q=Survey&ID=se) and see for yourself this demographic. Making friends with other addicts, especially those in recovery is the best thing to do. I challenge you to actually go along to an NA meeting yourself before listening to anyone you may have "treated" and get some first hand experience of what you see and not what you hear second hand. I will even take you to an NA meeting myself if you want to go. Send me a DM and I will arrange to meet you and take you to one, you may be very pleasantly surprised. by Covernarey (Sat 30th Jul 2022 5:41am)

  • First off, sounds as if the mother was going home with two kids. You have absolutely no idea what's happened from whatever o'clock till you saw her and her kids. No idea if she's stressed out her box with all those bills she's having to pay and the crisis the whole country is in. No idea if her home life is filled with domestic violence. And I'm sure if I played this out there with be a plethora of "You've no idea" You sir, are a male Karen. • You'll love Vietnam, there will be plenty of wee tents, kinda like wee shebeens set up that the Vietnamese like to go drinking in after a long shift. If you want to join them I would learn some of the language before you go. Google translate has a Vietnamese download that can be used offline, very handy. Lovely people, amazing food, beautiful country, beaches, forest etc amazing infrastructure for a communist country. Would also take a bit of time learning about "Losing face" just Google that so you don't end up doing/saying anything that will get you in trouble and end up doing a Christopher Walken 😉 by Covernarey (Tue 6th Sep 2022 3:34am)
  • I'd definitely recommend "Big Ange's Place" Dishes I recently had there were Hun tears, delicate flavour with a hint of salt. Delicious. I didn't need any documents at all when registering for my HMRC account online, all I needed was an email address and some simple details like D.O.B. N.I number nothing more. I will say that I got a tax refund sent to my bank after I got a letter saying I was due one, if I didn't request an online payment they would send out a cheque but I got it online no bother. Also I had signed up for paper free notifications but they still don't do that and send letters periodically. by Covernarey (Thu 29th Sep 2022 10:28pm)

  • Shocking language. The only acceptable discrimination still alive and well in this fucked up country. To term another human being struggling with what could be and probably is a disease is unacceptable. Walk by any other human being and make snap judgement calls based in this type of discriminatory language is almost unheard of. E.G. call someone a Paki, a Lesbo, a Poof, a Mongo, a multitude of other discriminatory/derogatory comments and the law will side with those oppressed. Walk by a "Junkie/Alky" using the same terms and people will nod and say "Aye" This attitude perpetuates myths and keeps the person locked in societal boxes and fuels more discrimination. Imagine the headline was "Where can I go in Glasgow to avoid (insert chosen term as highlighted above) You'd all be up in arms. by Covernarey (Mon 26th Dec 2022 6:53am)
  • Doesn't take away the fact that the words are derogatory I'm a recovering addict with over 21 years clean, the words are NOT acceptable. This justification is like you saying it's ok for you to use the word N*##*r just because a black person may call themselves that. I'm saying that the throwaway attempts at justification are immoral and in the same context as derogatory words used to describe a person, mainly used by ignorant people, should be protected to. Trouble is, no one stands up and wants to be associated. Call it out, it's unacceptable, don't try and justify it, see the person, see the potential, see the illness, see the despair, see the cry for help. Challenge the discrimination don't justify it. Also to the wanker/wankess who sent a note to caring Reddit, go fuck yourself. by Covernarey (Mon 26th Dec 2022 10:09am)
  • Yea you go on justifying your nonsense to allow you to feel ok discriminating, using the popular vernacular as you put it to allow to to miss the point totally. Discrimination in any form is unacceptable, I'm out as you're clearly disturbed by my challenge to the rhetoric. Enjoy yir day by Covernarey (Mon 26th Dec 2022 10:18am)
  • Aye nae bother, people choose to live lives where they have to get up every single day and do horrendous things to themselves to maintain their addiction, they absolutely choose to compromise every single value/moral they grew up with, they choose to be victims of horrific circumstances, in fact I bet they went to their careers advisors in school and ticked the box. You've bought the lie, hook, line and sinker. It's pretty obvious that you come from a stance of complete ignorance, ignorance perpetuates the misery. Away and have a right good look at yourself, people who use the justification you're attempting disgust me. Imagine all the mother's, brothers, sisters, aunties, uncles, sons, daughters, suffering because they're either trapped or suffering because a loved one is trapped. The justification you use in that people are choosi g to live the "junkie" life is exactly what I'm standing up against, the worst thing about it is you probably know someone close to you suffering and do nothing but hate on them with your language, they probably deserve it to eh. by Covernarey (Mon 26th Dec 2022 10:36am)
  • How is it ridiculous? Addiction is a disease, no more a choice than skin colour, this is a fact. People don't choose to have diseases. "This society will be judged harshly in future as punishing and discriminating a section of society for displaying symptoms of their disease" (William White) I'm not comparing my own journey with anyone else's and haven't mentioned a thing about my own addiction, I have however said I've been in recovery for over 21 years, funny how you are attempting to miss that point and my stance on discrimination and rhetoric. I also worked with people seeking recovery for well over a decade and the language you use, and others have and still do keeps people locked in addiction more often than not, it takes away humanity from people, it allows you to justify the ignorance, it allows you to categorise using near sighted views and nod your head when someone says "Junkie" It's a shocking term to use to describe another human being. by Covernarey (Mon 26th Dec 2022 10:52am)
  • Here's one for you. You say that not all addicts have horrific experiences, you're right they don't and that you know people with addiction problems who made poor choices, probably right again. The rhetoric in calling people junkies probably had an effect of those so called bad choice people who didn't have horrific experiences seeking some help lest they be categorised as a junkie, your argument completely codified what I'm saying, the term junkie probably perpetuated those poor buggers misery by Covernarey (Mon 26th Dec 2022 11:07am)

  • Baffling isn't it, drug use is a symptom of addiction. by Covernarey (Mon 26th Dec 2022 8:18pm)
  • The solution is abstinence Have a wee read of this quote from Narcotics Anonymous literature about the disease of addiction. The disease of addiction What makes us addicts is the disease of addiction-not the drugs, not our behavior, but our disease. There is something within us that makes us unable to control our use of drugs. This same "something" also makes us prone to obsession and compulsion in other areas of our lives. How can we tell when our disease is active? When we become trapped in obsessive, compulsive, self-centered routines, endless loops that lead nowhere but to physical, mental, spiritual, and emotional decay. This can be present long before someone takes drugs in my experience and long after you take drugs away. by Covernarey (Mon 26th Dec 2022 9:05pm)
  • I'm far from helpless trust me and yet to meet another recovering addict in NA who says they are too. Whatever floats yir boat ma man, crack on. by Covernarey (Mon 26th Dec 2022 9:19pm)
  • Nope, I am powerless though, completely different. Powerlessness was a feature of my using, once I realised that when I pick up and start using drugs I become powerless and my life is unmanageable then I decided to stay stopped as it never did what I thought it would nor would it solve the myriad of problems I thought it would. I realised that no matter what substance I put into my body I was compelled to continue until something outside myself forced the stop. Always baffled me that one, simply because no one I met when seeking help had any idea why I would continue given the circumstances. Abstinence from all drugs was the key for me as I used to think that some drugs were different, I also realised that on the many occasions I did stop one or another I always ended up in the same pretty desperate state. by Covernarey (Mon 26th Dec 2022 9:37pm)
  • >That’s what I don’t really subscribe to, and I think that sort of thinking from NA etc can be somewhat dangerous - “oh well I’ve had a beer now so I can’t help myself, bring me an oz of heroin and 3 litres of ketamine. I’m powerless to stop!” That's not how it works, once you find out you have a choice, prior to knowing I had a choice I would think exactly like this, but maybe with a tinge of "Oh fuck it, I've used now, I'm useless, hopeless, a fuck up, I can't do anything right" then the shame and guilt would kick in and the perpetual cycle kicks in. Good luck with your using, it's not for me. Powerless means without power Helpless means I can't be helped. Two completely different concepts. by Covernarey (Mon 26th Dec 2022 10:08pm)

  • In all the years I've been going places to see the game I've only ever once seen anything untoward. I was in a Celtic pub in Patong on Phuket in Thailand and 1 guy sat in front of a screen the full game, there was literally 20 flags dotted all about the pub and about 10/15 Celtic fans all cheering on Celtic. Game finished 2-1 and this guy gets up and starts shouting at all the Celtic fans trying to cause it. You say 90% given that 60k plus attend a game, give another 10/20k at pubs all round the county your metric would determine between 6/8 hundred fans cause all the trouble and I'm calling you out on that crap. It's more on the metric example I gave, 1 fan in 15 which if my maths are correct is less so and even this would be at the extreme end of % by Covernarey (Tue 4th Apr 2023 10:26am)

  • Having worked with survivors of sexual assaults I'm of the opinion that you probably do need to seek some additional support that doesn't come in the form of posting on Reddit. I'm not suggesting that you should be banned as I believe there may be some catharsis for you in writing anonymously about your experiences. However, the detail in your posts can come across as quite shocking and may expose you to content from other Reddit subscribers that isn't helpful. There's a very common trait among survivors of trauma where they feel shame and guilt about the trauma and somehow feel they were to blame, when they first expose the trauma to someone who's trained and are accepted as they are there's a catharsis, a feeling of relief, so they then start to share the details with others seeking the same relief. This can be a very dangerous path as explained above, exposing yourself to unhelpful/unhealthy advice or guidance or unhelpful comments. Not everyone will have the capacity to express empathy, listen to the story and respond in a manner that's appropriate for you to hear, vicariously people often respond with either revulsion at the perpetrators or sympathy with the survivors when really they need empathy. I would strongly suggest you seek some additional support from a trained professional. I'm not saying for one second that survivors shouldn't speak out, but the devil is in detail. Good luck and I hope you get the help and support you need. by Covernarey (Thu 13th Apr 2023 5:59pm)
