  • hmm, maybe not for me but thanks for the suggestion. by user01456 (Thu 3rd Dec 2020 8:16pm)
  • wanting to see this myself, but dont expect the cinemas to be open. i have a hbo max sub via vpn so probably gonna just watch it and soul from disney on my tv on xmas day. by user01456 (Mon 7th Dec 2020 11:22pm)
  • apparently sky has a deal with warner to offer ww84 as a paid rental from january, guessing it will be on other stuff like itunes and that too. by user01456 (Mon 7th Dec 2020 11:28pm)

  • didn't want to make a new post for this but wanted to ask if anyone has been to their doctors surgery lately and if so what has it been like? got to go tomorrow and im curious, do they test you or check temp on site or something? by user01456 (Wed 16th Dec 2020 6:24am)
  • in the southside i think most of the flats dont have much if any soundproofing. the flats i live in where quickly built up after the 2nd world war and not meant to still be homes today, they used some form of ash as a filler between the floors. annoying as i hear my neighbours floor and bed creek, snoring, and whenever she takes a phone call since she talks like shes on the otherside of the moon. by user01456 (Sat 19th Dec 2020 12:39am)
  • i've had some issues with similar myself, had a graphics card go missing and still dealing with that and hermes, but spoke to a couple of delivery drivers lately who've said the guidance most of them have had is not to use doorbells as they're the most commonly touched thing on a door - like of course it is, but yeah... by user01456 (Tue 23rd Feb 2021 3:09pm)
  • long may the peace continue, seriously hope they're gone for good or stick to their vr things. disgusting they were ever allowed really. by user01456 (Wed 24th Feb 2021 11:37am)
  • when I dealt with the neurology department at the qeuh over the last couple of years, it was about 4 months after a doctor's referral to getting a phone call offering me an appointment for something like a month later. not sure how things are during the pandemic tho. by user01456 (Fri 12th Mar 2021 11:55am)
  • did anyone manage to hear what was said about hairdressers being open? heard about being able to book appointments from 5th april, but what about close contact/mobile hairdressers? neighbour said she heard sturgeon seem to say close contact/work in home resuming from the 26th instead and that's her line of work... by user01456 (Tue 16th Mar 2021 3:22pm)
  • that's what i thought too, cheers for the confirm. let the neighbour tho, she's a bit pissed but hey. by user01456 (Tue 16th Mar 2021 9:04pm)
  • you'll probably need to wait until closer to the time and check the restrictions in place and so on, quite a few places I've seen that are taking bookings are limiting to groups of 6 at the most. by user01456 (Mon 29th Mar 2021 2:27am)
  • when i set up my sky install, i told them i was the top flat and everything. guy came out and said i needed the special access team and technically he shouldn't have done the job for me but done it anyway. i think the phone teams will say about the outside installs at the moment due to covid procedures, but the engineers seem fine so long as you're keeping your distance and such for them to work. by user01456 (Thu 22nd Apr 2021 10:08am)
  • they reduced the services past a certain time (i think 9pm) back at the start of the last lockdown due to the lack of things open and demand for travel, recall seeing it on the news and getting an email as a frequent train user/smartpass holder. i think they're due to restore more services from around may 16th. by user01456 (Sat 24th Apr 2021 3:22pm)
  • it's not unfair - congrats if you're able to afford a second home, don't complain about being taxed additionally for it. by user01456 (Sat 24th Apr 2021 7:14pm)
  • where abouts? heard a few in southside earlier but nothing just now. by user01456 (Fri 21st May 2021 10:48pm)
  • lovin' the power cuts just when i'm uploading critical files for a client, sigh. that's 3 times in 2 hours... by user01456 (Tue 25th May 2021 11:01pm)
  • had a mate do this to visit his kid in edinburgh last weekend, he was stressin' about it too. said to him to phone the hotel and explain the circumstances and see if there was any issue, said he explained how he gets tested weekly as part of his job, they told him no issues and that was it. childcare and such is a valid reason, so i'm sure you'll be fine so long as you're not being a dafty. by user01456 (Tue 25th May 2021 11:08pm)
  • shut the roads to hampden and let 'em walk, we're good for that here. (may/may not be joking.) by user01456 (Thu 27th May 2021 8:19am)
  • just got my 2nd vaccine dose invite, but can't make it for the time they've given me. logged into try and reschedule and no appointments at all for any of the dates it allows. ugh, they should have just let folk book things themselves, probably help make stuff like the wasted appointments over the weekend less of a thing too. by user01456 (Thu 27th May 2021 8:21am)
  • thanks, i'll try giving them a call once i either get through to someone at or get bored of the hold music at Cineworld trying to find out what's going on with my unlimited membership since i've had no notifications of them about their new changes or payments etc. always something, ha. by user01456 (Thu 27th May 2021 10:59am)
  • thanks, as i said to scottsmann i'll try giving them a call once i either get through to someone at or get bored of the hold music at Cineworld. by user01456 (Thu 27th May 2021 11:00am)
  • just called the number, the woman was nice and said there's no availability on the system just now until they start getting cancellations or open the reserved availability. by user01456 (Thu 27th May 2021 11:23am)
  • >It was the same on Saturday morning when I went for my second jab but traffic moved pretty quick. Appointment was 8:45am and I was out for 9am so it's hard to complain. i just curiously checked the website just now and there's tons of appointments now for the same week that i've been given for, rebooked for an earlier one now so all should be good. by user01456 (Thu 27th May 2021 5:25pm)
  • briefing at 12:15pm, i'm not sure what to expect at this point by user01456 (Fri 28th May 2021 7:32am)
  • they could have just came out and said that to begin with, it's been the same through all this it takes about 2-3 weeks for things to swing. hopefully it holds this time. by user01456 (Fri 28th May 2021 12:34pm)

  • saw some folk saying they had issues with the username info on the site, kinda dumb system they've got. hope you get something sorted with it soon. by user01456 (Sun 30th May 2021 11:51am)
  • had a mate applying for tons of retail jobs just to get some income and was successful for m&s - was offered 16-20 hour contract but told it only had a 4 week commitment because they weren't taking on anyone with more hours than that just now due to the uncertainty of things, said something about insurance not covering them for longer so might be a thing at the moment? shite for anyone needing work right now, gonna be fucked for a while i think. by user01456 (Sun 30th May 2021 8:21pm)
  • from experience, gp's will use the "what do you want me to do about it?" line when they want you to self-diagnose yourself. i was referred to lifelink in the past, not sure if it's applicable to what you are looking for but they were pretty good at listening and pointing me in the right direction of things: https://www.lifelink.org.uk/make-a-referral/ by user01456 (Mon 31st May 2021 5:10pm)

  • never seen anyone close the toilet on the train after using it, disgusting. there's no close button on the outside is there? seems like a design flaw by user01456 (Fri 11th Jun 2021 2:20pm)
  • on the outside? never noticed, but then I've never needed to use a loo on the train. but no excuse for folk who use them not to close 'em by user01456 (Fri 11th Jun 2021 7:35pm)
  • 2nd dose appointment today at carmichael Hall, anyone been over the last couple of days and know how its been with queues etc...? by user01456 (Wed 16th Jun 2021 8:53am)
  • its annoying, especially when our guidance is tougher than England in terms of distance (they have 2 seat gaps left and right, no rows blocked off front or back), but it is what it is. i personally don't mind/notice but then I don't stuff my face with food at the cinema by user01456 (Wed 16th Jun 2021 8:56am)
  • saw A Quiet Place Part II last week which was like that, Scott Pilgrim last night was busier which surprised me by user01456 (Wed 16th Jun 2021 9:21am)

  • might need to speak to the council first, but that sounds like a decent idea you have. by user01456 (Thu 17th Jun 2021 12:47pm)
  • fuck sake, i was hoping maybe we'd get another year not having to deal with such shite. wonder how they'll manage it, current restrictions say only 50 people can attend them, but my usual route has about 300+ usually. fucking bullshit, glasgow's shame. by user01456 (Thu 17th Jun 2021 7:05pm)
  • council might not have been given the keys or something yet. we had a downstairs neighbour pass away and there was an issue getting keys back off a next of kin, but once they got the keys back they were in and gutting the place within a week and a new family moved in about 3 weeks later. by user01456 (Fri 18th Jun 2021 11:10am)

  • been on a few buses the last couple of days and seen that first bus have removed the social distancing markers on seats, saw a guy try to sit next to someone (bus wasn't busy, guy just seemed to not want to walk upstairs or to the back of the bus to get off after 4 stops) and it got heated for a few minutes. that's gonna be a shambles at some point no doubt. by user01456 (Sat 26th Jun 2021 2:56pm)
  • yeah, I saw on twitter there's a lot of chat about it. they say they've upped capacity from 50% to 65% but then I saw nothing to say that when I was on. by user01456 (Sat 26th Jun 2021 7:30pm)

  • wonder how they are going to work this weekend, current restrictions say should only be a maximum of 50 people at a public procession but these fucking stupid things always bring out about 400 or so around my bit. by user01456 (Thu 1st Jul 2021 7:08pm)
  • i used to know someone who lived in the flats along the waterfront near the quay who said there were constant issues discussing it as it's meant to be a private path for the owners of the housing there and that was why nothing was being done. by user01456 (Thu 1st Jul 2021 9:49pm)

  • The buses are supposed to be 65% capacity at the moment according to replies to comments on First Glasgow's Twitter feed with updated signage at the front of the bus, but as of yet I've not seen any new signage and it's a bit of a mess it seems. by user01456 (Wed 14th Jul 2021 7:38am)
  • i've got an air circulator fan i've left running at night, so far hasn't let me down and really quiet too. also as someone else suggested a cooling mattress topper and a thin throw cover. by user01456 (Thu 15th Jul 2021 1:13am)
  • Still shut to cars on weekends, not sure if its like that during the week too due to holidays or such. by user01456 (Sun 18th Jul 2021 1:48pm)
  • It was decent, punchy little short race. Drivers who went for the softer tyres made the gambles work, will be interesting how it works out today. That said, the stupid victory lap in the back of a truck needs to go tho, that just looked stupid. by user01456 (Sun 18th Jul 2021 1:47pm)
  • There's been a few comments from my neighbours lately about the water and weird taste/smell. Wonder if its a thing due to the heat and stuff? by user01456 (Sun 18th Jul 2021 1:51pm)
  • Fuck him and these cunts. by user01456 (Tue 20th Jul 2021 2:27pm)
  • I've found since first bus ditched the social distancing seating and went from what they claim was 50% to 65% capacity a few weeks back, it's been a shambles. I've had to use the bus a few times and each time had to get off because of mostly younger folks without masks with bottles of alcohol stuffed in their jackets coughing and jumping around from seat to seat and generally being annoying twats. It's almost like folks just forgot we're still in a fucking pandemic. OP. I'm sorry you've had that experience, but hope you've contacted them to say about your experience and give feedback. by user01456 (Tue 20th Jul 2021 7:37pm)
  • meant to add i'd have suggested somewhere like lok's if you're on the southside, but apparently their site says they're only accepting bookings for baptisms and funerals. by user01456 (Tue 20th Jul 2021 9:09pm)
  • level 0 rules say you can only do 10 people from 4 households at a bar, cafe or restaurant indoors at the moment, 15 from 15 households outdoors. if it's after 9th august you're trying to book for, may need to wait to see how things go when the next review is by user01456 (Tue 20th Jul 2021 9:07pm)

  • Interested to know this too, shame Cineworld gave up the Science Centre IMAX as I was looking forward to seeing Dune there. Guessing either Odeon Braehead or Cineworld Edinburgh IMAX will be where I end up, but heard the new Vue at St Enochs is good so maybe there... by user01456 (Mon 26th Jul 2021 8:23pm)
  • Have issues with this too, find usually Hermes tend to deliver to my downstairs 1/1 neighbour - caught the driver once and they said they weren't allowed to go up higher floors, which was stupid to me so I complained to the customer services team who said they would highlight it for future deliveries. Thankfully, I don't seem to have many deliveries from them so it's a rare thing. Amazon seem to mistype my address on their labels removing the / from the flat position so it shows as 2 1 then the house number which confuses the drivers and such a lot - keep complaining to Amazon but they never fix it despite it showing properly on my account. by user01456 (Mon 26th Jul 2021 8:27pm)
  • there's been a full plot breakdown circling about for a while now, if it's indeed accurate then it's a pretty interesting take on things. if you're familiar with dc events and stuff, then it's a take on the Flashpoint arc with some other surprises. by user01456 (Wed 28th Jul 2021 6:40pm)
  • If you have a UK bank account, you could look up Giffgaff which offers a 'goodybag' of minutes, texts and a data allowance for a certain amount on a 30 day rolling agreement - might be helpful to start out with. Alternatively, there's the pay-as-you-go sims in pretty much all airports and newsagents and such. As for meeting new people and such, keep an eye on this reddit as one of the members has a pub meet up for members which is posted in advance, could be a good way to meet folks. Once you're settled and covid restrictions lift, there'll be more social opportunities as social groups (coffee/book groups etc) get back together - there's a site called [meetup.com](https://meetup.com) which some groups post on, you might find that handy. Welcome to Glasgow (when you get here.) by user01456 (Wed 28th Jul 2021 8:27pm)
  • If there's a petrol station near you, try there. Will be replacing the papers overnight and usually unsold ones from the previous day are returned in the morning. by user01456 (Wed 28th Jul 2021 10:35pm)
  • Yes, they'll refund you if you aren't allowed to enter the screening. by user01456 (Thu 5th Aug 2021 8:02pm)
  • Doesn't work like that, if you look young enough they'll ask for proof of age. by user01456 (Thu 5th Aug 2021 8:02pm)
  • Do library's still let you go in and print something? Printer's long bust and I never replaced it, Amazon's got me needing to print out a label for a return. by user01456 (Fri 6th Aug 2021 11:07am)
  • Sadly not. It was an Amazon EU order and needs to go through UPS International shipping. Just been down to the library and got the stuff printed, for reference they print up to 10 pages of black and white for free. by user01456 (Fri 6th Aug 2021 12:23pm)
  • Thanks for the reminder to check for the preseason games, I think they start next weekend? As for recommendations, I'd say Waxy O'Conners or The Hug and Pint would be able to suit. by user01456 (Fri 6th Aug 2021 4:27pm)

  • Not really a schedule, they just appear. Cineworld and Odeon used to have a few a year pre-pandemic, so no idea what it's like now with the backlog of available films. by user01456 (Wed 11th Aug 2021 8:02pm)

  • Why not a sticky topic for something like "New to Glasgow Advice/Q&A" where all such questions can be contained? The Steamie can be used for the other stuff - wanting new pals for DND groups, moaning about seagulls, and finding the best bakers for a breakfast roll. by user01456 (Sun 29th Aug 2021 2:01pm)
  • Don't suppose you've tried Orchard Park? Realise it's a bit down from Giffnock but there's a bus (one of the number 38 services) that takes you right to it if you need it. by user01456 (Sun 29th Aug 2021 7:40pm)
  • Not much that can be done, in a similar position to yourself regarding the second hand smoke drifting into my space. They aren't breaking any laws, your options really are either lift up your flooring and tighten the gaps to stop it getting through so much (pretty expensive and time consuming) or I bought an air purifier at the beginning of the year which has helped a little (probably could have got a bigger/more powerful one, maybe in the future). by user01456 (Mon 30th Aug 2021 8:04am)
  • If you are meaning about the smoke/heat alarm legislation, that doesn't come into force until February next year. I don't believe they would cover cigarette smoke, you get separate detectors for that. by user01456 (Mon 30th Aug 2021 10:13am)

Your ticket provider will be in touch so look out for an email coming from them soon.** Please only get in touch with them if you haven’t been contacted after 14 days as they are very busy at this time. Glad I had a few at the pub across from the Green, would recommended popping in there if it's still open... think its called Whistlin Kirk. • All for the vaccine, would understand and support the idea of vaccine passports more if the vaccines were more like a cure or such, but they're more like symptom suppressants and doesn't stop you actually getting COVID so I don't see how the vaccine passports will do anything to stop the spread... by user01456 (Thu 9th Sep 2021 1:20am)
  • Absolutely all for vaccines (and if you're reading this, haven't and are able to, please get yours) but not so sure that the vaccine passports are the way. I'd understand more if the vaccines were more of a cure and stopped people getting COVID, but they're more like a suppressant/blocker for the symptoms. Had quite a few pals lately been at gigs and stuff getting positive tests and pings from test & trace despite being double jabbed only weeks ago, puts me off all the hassle really. by user01456 (Thu 9th Sep 2021 1:44am)

If your outgoings are higher than incomings, look at what you can cut reasonably (things like streaming services or such for example). It might also be reasonable to talk your Dad about your budget, see if he can be lenient while you sort yourself out - also might be worth considering letting someone move in with you as a method of income. by user01456 (Sun 19th Sep 2021 12:04pm)

  • Current local resident, area is fine enough. Burnfield Road gets congested frequently during the day due to lorry drivers going up and down to Giffnock and the industrial area, so the fact the only way in/out the new build area is on Burnfield Road is stupid (they should have made a residents only entrance off Thornliebank Road.) by user01456 (Fri 1st Oct 2021 1:19pm)
  • I remember you posted here last month opposing vaccine passports and saying how the SNP are abusing powers then called everyone who replied opposing your viewpoint 'cunts'... Anyway, to answer your question - if you got a leaflet or card at your vaccination appointments (which you should have kept hold of if you did in case of emergencies) then surely that would help find your details. Or if you have an email of an appointment? What's the "worse case scenario" - you'll need to get jabbed again? Enjoy the boosters. by user01456 (Sat 9th Oct 2021 7:13am)

  • Nothing happened, really - we'd just got into the park and was walking round to where the coos are usually, but before we got that far the deer appeared from nowhere and stopped on the path in front of us. There were a few steps between us, so we just stopped as I tried to quickly grab my phone to take a picture and I said to my niece not to move to frighten it as we're in it's home, but someone else from another direction startled it and it ran into the trees and such before I got the picture. by user01456 (Thu 4th Nov 2021 8:02pm)

  • How loud is the noise coming from the television? Tenement flats don't have adequate soundproofing unless someone's taken the time and cost to do it themselves, it's more like ash between the floorboards which may even be removed if there's ever been any work done plus the floorboards will have gaps so the sound will leak through. Talk to the neighbour and see if you both can't reach a compromise but be mindful of the tenement issues. by user01456 (Mon 8th Nov 2021 2:50am)

  • Are you upstairs or downstairs from the neighbour? Also, is it just TV speakers or a soundbar? Keep in mind tenements carry noise a lot and there's practically no soundproofing between them unless someone's decided to install it themselves (which is very rare.) Night hours are set as 11pm-7am for which the law defines a maximum amount of noise which is acceptable during those hours. For the sake of around half an hour of inconvenience as you say, you could have a chat and ask to turn it down a little after 11pm. by user01456 (Mon 8th Nov 2021 4:37am)

That said, there is a statement today about expansion of the vaccine passport scheme to include cinemas and other venues at which they said last week they would update on considering allowing negative results from a LFT to be used for entry, but any changes would be effective 6th December. by user01456 (Tue 23rd Nov 2021 9:05am)
  • Before the pandemic, I would often find myself waiting almost 40 minutes past my appointment time to see the doctor - now, I need to fill out a form on their website which they advise will be responded to "within 1-3 working days" then when I call up after that timescale passes to ask about getting to speak with someone get "we're really busy at the minute you just need to wait have you seeked other support?" - still haven't spoken to anyone like 2 weeks later, thankfully I found I can buy small doses of the tablet I was prescribed from Boots and been managing on that intermittently. I'd change doctor's but figure with the situation at the moment it'll be the same everywhere for some time. by user01456 (Tue 23rd Nov 2021 5:56pm)

  • Not sure why you posted this here as it's not specifically a Glasgow issue, maybe should get deleted. Anyway, between the global chip shortage and issues with haulage demands worldwide it's caused problems. I know Amazon had stock yesterday and Argos last week, so they are getting through - if you have Discord, sign up for a stock checker service that sends you notifications when they go in stock. I know a few people who've been able to get them that way successfully. by user01456 (Thu 25th Nov 2021 9:50am)

  • Small vent: received a letter around 10th October to say the DWP sent me a PIP review form to complete but I hadn't received it - called them up on 3 separate days and after 47 minutes on hold the third day got through to someone who sent another form out. Received a new form around 27th October to be returned by 22nd November, got my info together and sent it back on 11th November (there's a postbox 8 steps from my front door so not the most difficult thing for me to do). Just received a letter today (dated 2nd December) to say they've stopped my payment from 1st December because they didn't receive the form on time. • Was thinking about taking a trip to Dublin soon as it's been a few years since I been myself. Hope you enjoy it. Have you ever done the tour bus? The guy who done it when I was last there was hilarious, shitting on everything from the lack of consistent architecture to the amount of tourists who always go to the Temple Bar and never go anywhere else... which made me not go to the Temple Bar last time I was there. by user01456 (Fri 25th Feb 2022 9:43am)
  • Broadband speeds in some parts of the city are a mixed bag, with some parts of the city in need of updates and increased capacity to provide better speeds and services. • Folks with disabilities who qualify also have a saltire card too, not just the pensioners. by user01456 (Thu 3rd Mar 2022 11:28am)
  • 1. I'd use the mobile app and buy the cheapest tickets on there that seem applicable (I know they do multi buy ticket options etc with discounts vs on board). The phone will display a QR code to scan, and that way you don't really need to speak to the driver unless it's not working or some other query. 2. As mentioned, use the mobile app. The saltire cards you mention are for pensioners and folks with disabilities who are eligible, where as children now use the Young Scot card for free travel. 3. Stick your hand out for the bus at the bus stop, yes. 4. As someone who relies on buses due to not being able to drive due to disability, I usually use Google Maps to plot routes then check the timetables and stops using the app. Hope some of that helps. by user01456 (Thu 3rd Mar 2022 11:33am)
  • Daytime (7.00 - 19.00) 41 dB, Evening (19.00 - 23.00) 37 dB, Night (23.00 - 7.00) 31 dB Those are the guideline noise levels advised by the Scottish Government as acceptable. If the noise frequently exceeds that, and you feel you've exhausted all options with the neighbour by ways of civil discussion, you might need to get in touch with the council's noise team for them to investigate and take action as applicable. To answer your question directly: if you're in a flat or something then yes it's absolutely unreasonable to have a washing machine/tumble dryer on after 1am. by user01456 (Sun 6th Mar 2022 11:33pm)

  • Not unless you're willing to pay over RRP in CEX (RRP is £359 digital / £449 disc, CEX are charing £360 digital / £675 disc), recent industry reports seem to suggest Europe got it's lowest shipments of PS5 consoles over the last couple of months too so who knows how things are going to be. They are still getting to stores - Argos had a drop of consoles last weekend for example - just very drip fed. by user01456 (Wed 16th Mar 2022 1:52am)
  • I had to jump into the city centre a couple of weeks ago and got the 57/57a back home - got to the driver switch point at Eglinton Toll when the driver just came out the pod and told everyone he got a text message to say there was no driver to switch with and the bus was being stopped but there was another bus due in a few minutes. 3 minutes later, the same thing happened to the next 57/57a that came at the back. Been told by a relative that used to work on the buses until a month or so ago they've been hit with a ton of drivers just quitting because they're fed up as well as more COVID isolations etc. by user01456 (Mon 21st Mar 2022 5:58am)

  • That's unfortunate, I think you'd need some kind of significant evidence to show that an agreement had been reached... otherwise it's a you say/they say situation. Not sure what other options there may be, hopefully you get something sorted out. For future reference if you ever get into a similar situation, I'd advise to make sure to have some form of evidence backed up so if required you have something to show as reference - like screenshots of texts saved on a Google drive for example. by user01456 (Thu 7th Apr 2022 3:10am)

  • You should maybe have offered more context in your post then to explain instead of posting what appeared to be a lazy wanted ad. by user01456 (Tue 12th Apr 2022 11:03pm)
  • I believe it's been proposed since January, but haven't heard anything since. STV News was only last night reporting St Enoch Centre might be getting demolished too to be replaced with a open plan area of shops, flats and office spaces. by user01456 (Wed 13th Apr 2022 2:02am)
  • Thought it was odd to begin with, questioned why someone would post on Reddit of all places. The original post should really have been removed by the mods I think. by user01456 (Wed 20th Apr 2022 11:54am)
  • I haven't been to one of these myself but in town tonight and might swing by, but from past event posts there might be a flag with a reddit logo on the table. by user01456 (Thu 21st Apr 2022 4:04pm)
  • Speak to your GP/CPN/counsellor regarding what you've mentioned here, they may want to review what medication or treatments you are on (I am assuming you are on some form of these), maybe look into things like hobby groups to get out and meet people when you feel more able to. by user01456 (Thu 21st Apr 2022 7:27pm)
  • Have a look about the subreddit and you'll find housing in general is a frequently asked topic with folks struggling, maybe you'll find some helpful advice in those topics. by user01456 (Thu 21st Apr 2022 10:38pm)
  • GCC's recent treatment of parks is shit, they don't seem to care at all. I walk through there a couple of times a week passing through to Lidl/Morrisons and from what it used to be with bowling greens and pitches to now is a shame. The lack of bins is not an excuse for folks not picking up after themselves, but some folks are just ignorant/lazy. by user01456 (Fri 22nd Apr 2022 2:07pm)
  • It was showing on the payment schedule statement when we got it back in March, if you have one check it and see. by user01456 (Fri 29th Apr 2022 12:48am)
  • There used to be one on [meetup.com](https://meetup.com), but I think it dissolved during the lockdowns etc. I've been curious about trying to find one too since I still enjoy my regular cinema visits but my friend group gave up their Unlimited Card memberships during the lockdowns and have decided not to rejoin. If you find something, would appreciate if you passed it on. by user01456 (Sat 30th Apr 2022 6:24pm)
  • Yeah, the Glasgow Film Crew Cinema Club and Glasgow Movie Geek-Out for Geeks! ones are no longer active/have been removed from meetup. The others seems pretty specialist groups and not active in the past year according to their Facebook pages, and only one of them listed - Incredibly Strange Film Club - appears active still but may only appeal to a niche audience. by user01456 (Sat 30th Apr 2022 8:48pm)
  • Everything Everywhere All At Once does indeed look very good, looking forward to seeing that. Shame that the previews tomorrow are only at IMAX screens and Glasgow wasn't included. by user01456 (Tue 3rd May 2022 4:07pm)
  • You've jumped the gun a bit - the listings won't have been updated because yesterday was a bank holiday. Should be updated tonight or tomorrow lunch time. That said, no shock that Doctor Strange 2 will have the majority of screenings for at least the next week. by user01456 (Tue 3rd May 2022 4:05pm)
  • Sadly no midnight screenings from what I've found, Cineworld in town seems to have the earliest with a 6am screening - considering the early rise to see it. by user01456 (Wed 4th May 2022 12:59pm)
  • I remember going to see The Dark Knight Rises when it first came out - Warner Bros made it a 5am first showing to be in sync with the US but Cineworld showed Batman Begins and The Dark Knight before it, so going in at night and coming out in the morning was slightly disorienting for sure. by user01456 (Wed 4th May 2022 1:20pm)
  • US release is Friday - we always get Marvel films a day or so before the US these days. by user01456 (Wed 4th May 2022 4:18pm)
  • They're expecting a higher boost of postal vote numbers according to last night's news as a result of people switching to postal votes for last year's election, so maybe that helps the overall turnout numbers... by user01456 (Thu 5th May 2022 5:27pm)
  • The IMAX at the Science Centre literally just reopened today after being closed for a year after Cineworld gave up the lease - it's being run directly by the Science Centre now and showing Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness for the next week. Maybe get in touch with them? by user01456 (Thu 5th May 2022 6:18pm)
  • Do you know anyone local enough you could train in/out the city and crash at theirs? Alternatively, try the Eurohostel if it's only for the few nights. by user01456 (Fri 6th May 2022 1:30am)
  • I used to get a chuckle out of people responding to my listed ads on Gumtree asking for a lower price because "it's for my son's birthday", now it's just rather frustrating. by user01456 (Fri 6th May 2022 2:45pm)
  • I had something similar with someone wanting the monitor I have listed here and Gumtree, wanted £25 off it and for me to take it to Stirling. I admire folks trying their luck but there's pushing it too far and being an arse. by user01456 (Fri 6th May 2022 6:17pm)
  • Hey, so there's a few posts from other people on here with similar feelings - have a search around and see if there's any advice in those threads you might find applicable to yourself, but while you're here, tell us a little about yourself - for example, hobbies/interests, do you play games - what games/consoles? Music? Sports? Maybe someone else will read and get in touch. by user01456 (Fri 6th May 2022 7:21pm)
  • Not sure how much use it might be but here's like a search site for therapists you can sort by location and cost - hope it helps. https://www.bacp.co.uk/search/Therapists?LocationQuery=glasgow by user01456 (Sun 8th May 2022 5:17pm)
  • If you checked their Twitter feed, you'd see they tweeted confirming the line reopens tomorrow but trains won't stop at Anderston for another month due to further works being carried out to improve the station. by user01456 (Sun 8th May 2022 8:43pm)
  • Never heard of that, have you spoken to your GP about it? by user01456 (Mon 9th May 2022 2:46pm)
  • Probably should have contacted the council's noise team first - [https://www.glasgow.gov.uk/reportnoise/](https://www.glasgow.gov.uk/reportnoise/) by user01456 (Thu 12th May 2022 12:56am)
  • Have a look around the subreddit, there's a ton of posts about moving to Glasgow that will give you pointers. by user01456 (Thu 12th May 2022 2:36am)
  • Choose whoever team you feel you like more however you judge that (players, manager, success etc.) In terms of the wearing the team jersey in public at night bit, I wouldn't walk around Govan and Ibrox with a Celtic shirt or Parkhead with a Rangers shirt after an Old Firm game and town could be a little sketchy on said nights but generally speaking most folk probably won't bother too much apart from a passing comment unless you're a dick about it... but please do not be the type of arse that has flags hanging from their windows and blasting certain songs out your house/car speakers - that shit sucks. My opinion: you should support Partick Thistle. Oh, and you move southside you should support Pollok FC too. by user01456 (Thu 12th May 2022 4:45am)
  • Take a look around some of the posts here on the sub, then look at the news - it's the same everywhere just now. by user01456 (Thu 12th May 2022 2:20pm)
  • No, you'll just find folk will just arrive and queue early to get the choice of a table. by user01456 (Fri 13th May 2022 12:53am)
  • This will probably get deleted by the mods, stick a comment in The Steamie thread instead. by user01456 (Sat 14th May 2022 11:48am)
  • I suspect the mods will delete this post, probably should stick a message in The Steamie. Side question: is FFXIV any good? It's the only one I haven't played... by user01456 (Sat 14th May 2022 12:01pm)
  • Ah interesting, thanks - I'll take a look if I ever find a gap in my never ending backlog. 😂 by user01456 (Sat 14th May 2022 12:11pm)
  • This made me laugh, have an award. by user01456 (Sat 14th May 2022 10:53pm)
  • Heard of Google Maps? Might be helpful. by user01456 (Sun 15th May 2022 6:32pm)
  • Well I just looked it up on Google Maps and it's just over a hour in the car or for public transport you need to go via Newton Stewart... so not quite nothing on there. by user01456 (Sun 15th May 2022 6:36pm)
  • You see the amount of posts folk post on here with similar requests like they don't know how to use a search engine themselves? Given I got info the OP requested just by a simple search it surprised me how they couldn't get it themselves. by user01456 (Sun 15th May 2022 6:44pm)
  • I'd get that if the original, unedited post was of that nature, but it wasn't. It was a low effort post that as such got a low effort response. The point still stands that there are far too many people who post lazy posts on this sub with queries easily answered by a search engine and people really should get better at that. by user01456 (Sun 15th May 2022 7:43pm)
  • Check the prices on CEX's website, understand the grades - A = brand new, unopened or unused, B = opened and used but looks as new with no damage but maybe usage marks, C = opened and used but looks not quite as new, possible damage more than just usage marks. They won't offer you more than their listings on the site. by user01456 (Sun 15th May 2022 8:46pm)
  • If there's a specific age restriction on the ticket, I imagine they'll probably enforce it pretty strictly. by user01456 (Sun 15th May 2022 10:38pm)
  • Your post didn't come across as asking for additional input, before you edited the post your post was just "How could I get to Galloway forest park from Glasgow Southside? And how could I get back?" If you had said you had already checked Google or wanted more info, fair enough but you didn't. Hopefully in future with a little more context we can avoid situations like this. Enjoy your trip if/when you make it. by user01456 (Sun 15th May 2022 11:45pm)
  • Nintendo GameCube WaveBird controllers can go for funny money and are quite hard to get hold of in general, so best of luck with that one unless someone’s got a broken one somewhere. by user01456 (Sat 21st May 2022 1:39pm)
  • It's always at the management and bouncer's discression if you get into a venue or not, but yeah pretty much everywhere I've ever been to has a similar rule for folks who try to get in solo. by user01456 (Tue 24th May 2022 8:25am)
  • Does that ever work these days? Used to be the bouncers at Campus and other places on Sauchiehall Street would get you to phone/text whoever you were claiming to be meeting up with and get them to come out to prove you weren't bullshitting... by user01456 (Tue 24th May 2022 2:05pm)
  • Yes, even at those venues it's the discression of the management or bouncer and they can tell you no entry for any 'fair' reason. by user01456 (Tue 24th May 2022 2:11pm)
  • My days of going out to Campus are long past, but aye... didn't help at the time when it was my work's venue of choice for monthly nights out and I always got there late. by user01456 (Tue 24th May 2022 2:18pm)
  • Management, staff or bouncers can reject you or ask you to leave for any 'fair reason' if you try to enter or are on their grounds - doesn't matter what night of the week or if it's quiet or not. by user01456 (Tue 24th May 2022 2:16pm)
  • First gig since last October tonight, yas. by user01456 (Tue 24th May 2022 2:23pm)
  • Management, staff or bouncers can reject you or ask you to leave for any 'fair reason' if you try to enter or are on their grounds - doesn't matter what night of the week or if it's quiet or not. You also need to consider that NQ64 is more of an arcade themed bar rather than an entertainment venue, as such would have different standards. by user01456 (Tue 24th May 2022 2:21pm)
  • >Entitled? Nah, just offended for being turned away as I'm a repeat customer. Sounds like being entitled. by user01456 (Tue 24th May 2022 4:19pm)
  • Except in this case you weren't a customer because they never let you in. 😂 by user01456 (Tue 24th May 2022 5:47pm)
  • You might be better posting a post over in r/glasgowmarket for visibility, hope you get a ticket - going with a mate and looking forward to it. by user01456 (Thu 26th May 2022 7:44am)
  • If there's still an Oddbins on Skirving Street, they might be worth a look. Alternatively, maybe the Majestic in Giffnock too. by user01456 (Thu 26th May 2022 8:43am)
  • Haven't heard of anything other than England and Wales allowing pubs to open until 1am, don't think anyone's mentioned allowing outdoor drinking. by user01456 (Fri 27th May 2022 12:24pm)
  • Probably just roadworks, there's been tons of them in areas at the moment. by user01456 (Fri 27th May 2022 1:30pm)
  • I’m sure if tradition continues there’ll be some kind of event at Kelvingrove Park… 😂 by user01456 (Fri 27th May 2022 2:21pm)
  • Must have been something, maybe an impromptu diversion for an incident if not roadworks. I’d have asked the driver if I was concerned. by user01456 (Fri 27th May 2022 3:06pm)
  • DELETED Have a read about this sub, it's a frequently asked question so there's PLENTY of posts which should offer you the advice you're needing here. by user01456 (Sat 28th May 2022 1:42am)
  • I mean, if you sort by new and have a scroll and you'll find some over the last couple of weeks. But honestly, your budget estimate needs adjusting to account for things in October when the next increases are due. by user01456 (Sat 28th May 2022 2:20am)
  • DELETED What type of laptop do you have? RAM and hard drive replacements are easy to do yourself. I assume you're more concerned about backing up files and reinstalling the OS? by user01456 (Sat 28th May 2022 2:35pm)
  • Saw it in IMAX on Wednesday and completely agree. by user01456 (Sat 28th May 2022 2:44pm)
  • Shouldn't need someone to tell you to look up whatever model of Dell laptop you have on Google and you'll find instructions on what to do, or where to buy a hard drive or SSD from. If you know how to reinstall the OS using a USB then that will be fine - the laptop should have the OEM license key for the OS stored in it's BIOS to recognise and authenticate when you connect to the internet. by user01456 (Sat 28th May 2022 4:24pm)

  • DELETED What does this have to do with Glasgow? You should have stuck this in The Steamie... that's what it's there for. by user01456 (Sat 28th May 2022 5:44pm)
  • Fair amount of low quality dumb posts lately - folks asking stuff that's easily answered by a search engine or has nothing to do with Glasgow directly or could be easily stuck in here. by user01456 (Sat 28th May 2022 5:42pm)
