  • I'm late to this but no heard keysies in years! I would do it with thumbs. But we used to say "touch black magic" (you obviously had to find something black to touch) no idea why? by Jomato_Soup (Mon 14th Jan 2019 7:55pm)
  • Are you also sending covering letters? And, making them specific to each company. We just hired an Admin Assistant, and out of the 300+ that applied about 4 had a covering letter. Also get out to some networking events, and if you can, contact your uni for their graduate careers advice. by Jomato_Soup (Mon 4th Feb 2019 6:51pm)
  • I thought the sign originally said it would be finished on the 15th, but obviously that's no happened. I've no seen any work being done for a wee while though :( by Jomato_Soup (Wed 20th Feb 2019 9:27pm)
  • Wee Barra! No heard that in a while. Dunno why but I love that saying. by Jomato_Soup (Wed 20th Feb 2019 9:30pm)

  • Had Martin & Co. when I stayed in Paisley for uni. The following things were issues: Told me they'd clean the flat professionally before I moved in. They didn't. I did complain about this and they eventually got it done (took about 2 weeks). Told me I could change from a top-up meter to direct debit. Didn't happen as the landlord said no. Told me they'd fix my window that was warped and making the flat freezing as it let out all the heat. They took soooooo long my lease was actually up when they fixed it and I moved out anyway. Took them over 5 months to fix this issue. They delayed me getting my deposit back by failing to tell me about the deposit scheme thing (forget what it's actually called). After some research I was able to get it back. Maybe if I had been a bit more street smart it would've been better. As a 30 year old professional moaner, I'm now confident in calling out shite. It might just have been rubbish staff. Sorry I don't have a letting agent recommendation. Good luck!! by Jomato_Soup (Wed 22nd May 2019 10:08pm)
  • Not in Govanhill, but the East End. We paid £2k over the home report which worked out about 3%. I do think it's your luck. We seen flats that went anywhere between 10% and 20% over which we simply couldn't afford. Our mortgage advisor said we done the wrong thing, but we spoke to the seller, he told us what he wanted and that he'd already rejected offers lower. His price was ideal for us so we agreed and got our flat. Just remember anything over the home report you need to pay that money outwith your deposit/mortgage payments. by Jomato_Soup (Thu 13th Jun 2019 12:31pm)
  • Good luck!! Hopefully you'll find your home soon. by Jomato_Soup (Thu 13th Jun 2019 5:51pm)
  • Anyone know what was going outside All Saints this morning? About 4 police cars / vans and officers dotted round. by Jomato_Soup (Tue 25th Jun 2019 9:51am)
  • Seen it on gordon street yesterday, driving on the path at half 8 in the morning, spewing smoke out everywhere and just getting in folks way. by Jomato_Soup (Wed 10th Jul 2019 10:57pm)
  • Going into town for dinner and drinks tonight, Merchant City area, how fucked are we cause of Trnsmt? by Jomato_Soup (Sat 13th Jul 2019 10:53am)
  • What area you looking at? Laura's on Duke St is my shout (but realistically this is best if you live in the East End). by Jomato_Soup (Thu 18th Jul 2019 9:04am)
  • Hey! Amazing! Congratulations :) We are using him in October for our wedding. He's a friend of a friend and a lovely guy, hope all went well? by Jomato_Soup (Mon 12th Aug 2019 12:31pm)
  • Riddrie is nice. But I'm biased, I live here. We looked at Dennistoun as well but with every flat going 30k over the asking price and what seemed like no parking we widened our search and got a great deal on our flat. I've ventured to the gartcraig pub, but if you're looking for night life you'll be heading into town. Or the fort and/or forge for cinema and shops. We get the train, but I'm closer to Carntyne station than the rest so it's fine to walk it. Leader St you're closer to Alexandra Parade station. Don't get the bus often enough to comment sorry. You've got Hogganfield Loch and Alexandra Park both about 20 minutes walk away, great for dog walking! Also, the vogue chippy is better than Abby's. Avoid Shergills. Spice Route is good for kebabs. Rowans for rolls!! If you are looking for hairdressers, check out Laura's on Duke St. by Jomato_Soup (Thu 15th Aug 2019 7:09pm)
  • It was shite. We got an it is on deal and waited around 30/40 mins between the starter and the main. After they finally cooked our meal and we ate it, they then arrived with the rice. Guy at our table complained and we did all get a free drink. Sapporo any day. by Jomato_Soup (Sat 7th Sep 2019 7:19pm)
  • Some will have ID badges and they should have the charity number which you can check on OSCR. If you're concerned best bet is contacting the charity and giving description/location of collectors. If they are unaware and you have a suspicion of fraud it becomes a police matter. by Jomato_Soup (Wed 30th Oct 2019 8:10pm)
  • You looking at city centre? Try The Studio, on Oswald Street. Just off Argyle Street near Central Station. by Jomato_Soup (Sat 30th Nov 2019 5:44pm)

  • If you like karaoke head up the stairs at Horseshoe! But I would suggest a few wines before going in. Old Hairdressers and Stereo are near by and all are close to central. by Jomato_Soup (Sun 19th Jan 2020 12:16pm)
  • No at our wedding. My husband ended up on the floor 🙈 by Jomato_Soup (Mon 27th Jan 2020 6:26pm)
  • There is going to be a lot of trial and error here. Things like onion salt and garlic pepper really add flavour to veg. Steaming frozen broccoli (just in the colander over some boiling water) with onion salt is my fave! My man has a chicken salad for his lunch almost every day. One chicken breast (cooked in the over for 40 mins with a mixture of dried spices or herbs), baby leaf salad, cucumber, tomatoes and sugar snap peas with a little olive oil as a dressing. That would do my nut in, I need variety so I'll do a few days of chicken and veg, chicken salad, a soup etc. If you're in a position to buy, get a rice cooker, or slow cooker!! Marco Pierre White has a really good chilli recipe that's easy and a quick watch. Great for batch cooking and you can add in extra veg / pulses to bulk it out. Also might be worth looking at Joe Wicks (body coach) videos. Just watch, depending on how you're eating some of his recipes are quite high calories. Good luck! by Jomato_Soup (Tue 28th Jan 2020 12:08am)
  • Would not recommend Hutchesons. Cold food and the private room was falling apart, a cupboard door actually fell off during our meal. by Jomato_Soup (Sat 1st Feb 2020 8:59am)
  • Was it the upstairs bit? This was 2 Christmases ago so in fairness they could've fixed any issues. by Jomato_Soup (Sat 1st Feb 2020 10:35am)
  • We're around £65 over Christmas, just got the January bill in to say it was down to £55 so I'd say you're about right. by Jomato_Soup (Tue 4th Feb 2020 12:54pm)
  • Also just to chime in about how long the process takes, if you have a family tartan and it's on the rare side this might take longer as it may need to be ordered in from a specific kilt maker. But if you get your measurements over to which ever shop you choose they will keep you right on tartan! by Jomato_Soup (Mon 10th Feb 2020 12:22pm)
  • Done. I was once in your shoes. Keep writing, even if it's just a few sentences! Also, if you can and feel comfortable, reach out to another lecturer you like and ask them to read over some sections for feedback. Good luck. by Jomato_Soup (Fri 28th Feb 2020 7:43pm)
  • Asda Royston "only" opening 6 am - 12 midnight from now on, the woman at the til was telling us. To allow them to restock. Said they've already received abuse about the reduced hours 🙄 by Jomato_Soup (Tue 17th Mar 2020 6:07pm)
  • Made the difficult decision not to go to my best friend's upcoming wedding. Feel shite about it but I do not want to risk it and I don't want to spend essentially a month's mortgage on the trip. Also, if it was me, I would get married at the registry and cancel any additional celebration but 🤷🏼‍♀️ by Jomato_Soup (Thu 19th Mar 2020 12:26am)
  • Thank you! Yeah, had a conversation along those lines but the show will go on :( by Jomato_Soup (Thu 19th Mar 2020 12:33am)
  • Scotrail revised timetable starts Monday, less trains to help with deep cleaning. They've no update yet app yet, but have a list on their website of the changes. by Jomato_Soup (Fri 20th Mar 2020 9:03am)
  • Yeah still there. You can register / book online. Phone lines might be busy as they had a bit of drive on the news the other day? I'm due in on Tuesday and all info says open as normal. by Jomato_Soup (Fri 20th Mar 2020 10:41am)
  • Glad you've got in, maybe they were just overloaded with traffic and good people booking in! by Jomato_Soup (Fri 20th Mar 2020 12:02pm)
  • Aye that was my concern. I see GCC have removed charges for on street parking so that will defo help! by Jomato_Soup (Sat 21st Mar 2020 10:05am)
  • We found our Aldi and local shop had everything we needed, Shettleston/Riddrie area. Good luck! by Jomato_Soup (Sun 22nd Mar 2020 10:20am)
  • Really worried that my Dad's work have asked him to come in when we believe he'll be classed in the "vulnerable" category (heart condition, heart attack history one of which was less than six montha ago and diabetes). They told him a week ago to go home on full pay for 12 weeks. Then on Friday it was two weeks. Now, today they told him to visit the NHS website and he'd need to come back if he doesn't have symptoms. Wtf! I'm waiting to find out more info before I take this further, I just need to vent! by Jomato_Soup (Wed 25th Mar 2020 10:34pm)
  • As above, it's free. But had been quite busy the past few days. by Jomato_Soup (Thu 26th Mar 2020 12:54pm)
  • Coronavirus does not stop your junkie neighbour being absolute riots. Who knew? 40 minutes the police spent talking them down. They're claiming they have the virus! Feel sorry for the police in that situation. by Jomato_Soup (Sat 28th Mar 2020 9:22am)
  • Never been so appreciative of my stupid, wee, only one person on it at a time, balcony. by Jomato_Soup (Sun 29th Mar 2020 11:13am)
  • I always plan to do stuff with it, but never do. We just put wee seats out on it when it's sunny. Maybe now I'll plan and order stuff for when it's safe! by Jomato_Soup (Sun 29th Mar 2020 12:33pm)
  • It's about 2 foot deep so you'd be reclining off the edge but I am now thinking of ways to make it nicer. by Jomato_Soup (Sun 29th Mar 2020 12:35pm)
  • Just mindlessly watching the birds out my window and seen our friends who live a few streets away out on their daily walk. Mental but having a wee blether out the window, two floors up, has brightened my day. by Jomato_Soup (Sun 5th Apr 2020 1:52pm)
  • Didn't hear anything but have heard a helicopter fly over at least 3 times in the past 20 minutes. Not sure if it will be related? I'm in the East End. by Jomato_Soup (Sat 11th Apr 2020 12:15am)
  • Do you have any communal garden area you could sit in? We do, but a fox got into one of the bins so it's a bit of a riot right now. No one else uses it so I really should go tidy it up! by Jomato_Soup (Sat 11th Apr 2020 3:42pm)
  • A lot less people out on our walk today, went earlier so missed the sunniest part of the day which probably helped. Did see two herons and a tortoiseshell butterfly though! Now sitting about and waiting until I can make dinner and then family quiz night (via video call)! by Jomato_Soup (Sat 11th Apr 2020 3:40pm)
  • How was the shops? I'm going for the first time in almost a month and I'm a bit feart (husband has went every other time so feel I'm due a go). by Jomato_Soup (Mon 13th Apr 2020 11:00am)
  • I went! It was actually fine, apart from people not following the one way. Well I say people, one guy mainly and I kept seeing him. Got everything we needed and reduced price Easter Eggs, cause why not. by Jomato_Soup (Mon 13th Apr 2020 12:59pm)
  • I went and it was fine. No queue, but I have heard going a bit later is quieter. Got all we needed :) by Jomato_Soup (Mon 13th Apr 2020 1:00pm)
  • I know it's not what you asked but maybe it'll help until you get a machine. I (only recently) started doing milk and coffee in the mug first, giving that a swirl or stir, add a sugar if it's really cheap stuff, then add the water (preferably about a minute after the kettle boils). It's much creamier as the boiling water doesn't burn the shitey ground up stuff. by Jomato_Soup (Tue 14th Apr 2020 10:39am)

  • Making homemade chicken chasni for dinner tonight. Seems easy enough... marinating now. Send thoughts and prayers please. by Jomato_Soup (Sun 19th Apr 2020 3:31pm)
  • The chasni was not a chasni but it was great! I am going to try it again at some point with a few changes; more tomato sauce, more cream, less mango chutney. Any tips appreciated. by Jomato_Soup (Mon 20th Apr 2020 12:33pm)
  • Supermarkets are probably your best bet if you don't want to order online. My friend works in George, said a woman was in last week buying literally a whole new wardrobe because her washing machine was broken so I think a few tops you're good. by Jomato_Soup (Mon 20th Apr 2020 12:37pm)
  • Cheers George! At first I did think you were just telling me to get a takeaway... But google confirms it's a real book, with various editions, and I am interested. by Jomato_Soup (Mon 20th Apr 2020 2:43pm)
  • I don't think they are blaming her. Just stating that in light of her comments yesterday, it's now time for them to take action. by Jomato_Soup (Fri 24th Apr 2020 12:26pm)
  • Yeah, it is poorly worded. Shocking that! by Jomato_Soup (Fri 24th Apr 2020 12:38pm)
  • I had a craving for a cajun chicken panini. Didn't make it exactly, but created some kind of extreme cheese on toast! It's been an interesting time for food. by Jomato_Soup (Fri 24th Apr 2020 12:50pm)

  • First time out since the recommendation to wear masks. Used a buff as I don't have anything else. Only about a quarter of people wore something. Felt quite self conscious but hopefully it'll become more common. by Jomato_Soup (Mon 4th May 2020 6:38pm)
  • No, but my Mum always enjoys seeing this when she comes through to visit. by Jomato_Soup (Wed 6th May 2020 12:00am)
  • I know we've established it's Coia's. BUT also try Tibo, I dream about their French Toast. by Jomato_Soup (Wed 6th May 2020 1:51pm)
  • Oh, agree! I stay a stones throw (ish) from Dennistoun now but feel like these things are far away :( by Jomato_Soup (Wed 6th May 2020 4:06pm)
  • Oh and Scran! Again, the French Toast (there's a theme here). by Jomato_Soup (Wed 6th May 2020 8:36pm)
  • There is a list of 500 "greatest" albums according to Rolling Stone that my husband is going through. Some interesting ones on there. I'm just going through bands like Queen, and listening to their full back catalogue. by Jomato_Soup (Thu 7th May 2020 6:42pm)
  • The Vogue Chippy is really good (East End). Not currently open. by Jomato_Soup (Wed 13th May 2020 11:20pm)

  • We see one at the Huggy all the time too! Love them. by Jomato_Soup (Mon 25th May 2020 7:41pm)
  • Yes, mass gatherings aren't ideal. But neither is hundreds of years worth of oppression. I won't condemn those who went today. I'm proud it was peaceful! Donate to a charity like black minds matter and keep supporting the cause. by Jomato_Soup (Sun 7th Jun 2020 4:16pm)
  • I don't disagree with you. I didn't go today because of the reasons you mention. I have worked with people forgotten about and marginalised by society. I've seen people stripped of their voice. I've been part of organisations started to help change policy and lives, they are still around today because we've not really changed. I continue to support those organisations through work, by sharing info and donating. I shared information about the online protest as well. I just can't be mad at someone who needed to protest today, to make changes that are required across the world. by Jomato_Soup (Sun 7th Jun 2020 5:09pm)
  • Unconfirmed, but my Twitter is filling up with people saying there has been multiple stabbings. by Jomato_Soup (Fri 26th Jun 2020 1:41pm)
  • Yeah seeing this now. What is happening :( also hearing a police officer may be one of the victims. Not good. by Jomato_Soup (Fri 26th Jun 2020 1:52pm)
  • Loved them!! I got engaged there 😊 by Jomato_Soup (Thu 6th Aug 2020 7:54pm)
  • We’re going to a lodge on Loch Tay in September, between Killan and Fearnan. Cannot wait! But they sleep 6+ so might not fit your bill. Someone already mention Yellowscott. Defo recommend. Lodges sleep 2 and all have private hot tub. Lovely walks round about as well. Try a website called homeaway.co.uk as well as air bnb but make sure you search the owner direct as they will potentially have a better price as they don’t need to pay any fees. by Jomato_Soup (Thu 6th Aug 2020 8:01pm)
  • Thanks! It ended up raining the day before so my husband couldn’t propose during our walk round the trails like he planned, it was too mucky for us to stop. So he did it later that day, just as we were about to go in the hot tub. All I could think was, “he’s proposing to me whilst I’m in my house coat” 🙈 by Jomato_Soup (Thu 6th Aug 2020 9:06pm)
  • Cotton buds and a saline solution are your friend to keep it clean until it’s healed. by Jomato_Soup (Wed 12th Aug 2020 11:45am)
  • Haha. Try having it knocked out by accident, heal up then re-pierced... Oh also, every so often I nudge mine out in my sleep so I keep a spare bar around just in case. by Jomato_Soup (Wed 12th Aug 2020 2:14pm)
  • Hahahaha. You’ll be fine. It’s not sore! I’ve had my nose pierced for 10 years, no issues. I dunno why it happens sometimes but it’s always better to have a spare just in case. by Jomato_Soup (Wed 12th Aug 2020 3:04pm)

  • Thank you! Figured there would be more info on today. This covers it all 👍 by Jomato_Soup (Wed 2nd Sep 2020 8:17am)
  • There’s not really much around there. You’ve got a few wee shops and takeaways, bit further on to Duke St Station. It’s a bit run down looking but it’s fairly quiet. You’ll be fine! by Jomato_Soup (Mon 7th Sep 2020 4:04pm)

  • Pain in the area. Just pile a few bin bags up, take a pic and stick it on the gcc Twitter. Maybe tag your local councillor or MSP? I appreciate every resource is strained because of Covid but no bin collection leads to sanitation problems. by Jomato_Soup (Wed 16th Sep 2020 9:01pm)

  • I know I sound about 100 but the weather has defo turned in the last week and the nights are fair drawin in. Love the colours on the tree! by Jomato_Soup (Sat 3rd Oct 2020 4:43pm)
  • Top does have benefits, no noise above and we normally don’t need our heating on March - October. Less noise from the close door etc. But since we’ve been stuck in all day, every day I feel like our floor boards have got louder and I do feel bad for my neighbour below. Stairs are a pain when you’ve done your big shop and bought something else heavy. Logistics of what goes up first, or do you strongman it and take the lot. Someone else said the key thing though, neighbours make a close! If it’s dirty / got junk lying about I would avoid regardless of floor. by Jomato_Soup (Sun 4th Oct 2020 12:48am)
  • Aww bless, I’m sure they appreciated that! We got work done a wee while ago so let them know and they were fine with that. They’ve stayed here a long time and just always say “we know the floors creak, they always have”. by Jomato_Soup (Sun 4th Oct 2020 11:19am)
  • Aye, I mean you don’t want to tiptoe about. But I make an effort no to put washing on or hoover really early or late. 5 out of the 6 flats in our close are considerate of each other. I love my wee bit, but think if we ever have a family we’d look to move to a house. Noise + a pram and stairs 👎 by Jomato_Soup (Sun 4th Oct 2020 4:18pm)
  • Again! by Jomato_Soup (Sun 4th Oct 2020 8:30pm)

My mother in law lives alone so we’ve already decided we’ll spend the day with her, but if it’s stricter we’ll go stay with her and form a household. • Of the few times we tried Muscle Food, delivery was always a pain with Hermes! The last straw was when they had a total fuck up due to phone lines going down. Anyway, they deliver our ‘fresh meat” after the point it was considered safe and neither Hermes or Muscle Food accepted fault. MF did eventually offer me a reduction on my next order... which I politely declined. by Jomato_Soup (Thu 15th Oct 2020 11:41pm)

  • Riddrie is quiet and depending what side of Cumbernauld Road you’re on you’ve got Alexandra Parade or Carntyne station - both about 8 minutes into town with 4 trains an hour. You can realistically pay £80-£90k for a 2 bedroom flat here (might not be a tenement/sandstone) but still nice enough. There are also the 4 in a block “cottages” (why are they called that??) more on the Carntyne side that fit your budget. Parking is normally okay although best to drive along after 6pm just to double check. I see one on Girvan Street for £80k but it needs a lot of work done, I wouldn’t pay that knowing I’d need a new kitchen and bathroom. by Jomato_Soup (Tue 5th Jan 2021 8:55pm)
  • Dumbreck Playbarn has sessions you can book. It does cost to go but as far as I can see they are taking restrictions very seriously whilst still providing fun activities. Good luck! by Jomato_Soup (Mon 11th Jan 2021 10:09am)
  • EE here and can’t fault them. I’m in the East End and always have signal. When I could go into city centre and beyond I alway had good coverage. I’ve got unlimited everything for a good price (existing customer and early upgrade deal). They did, once, fuck up my contract but as soon as I called about it they fixed it and gave me a price reduction. So all in all, I’m happy. I’ve previously been with 3 who I found had good signal but was very difficult to get customer support. Vodafone were the worst I’ve been with! by Jomato_Soup (Mon 11th Jan 2021 10:14am)

  • We were convinced this was haunted when I was wee. My pal’s Mum drove us out there in the middle of the night (probably about half 8) to look for ghosts. It was so foggy, no one around and we all started screaming because we thought we saw something. Pal’s Mum floors it back home with us aw greeting and hyper. Good times. by Jomato_Soup (Wed 20th Jan 2021 5:52pm)
  • An embarrassment! It was meant to put out a signal you could hear on your radio... I think?? But it never worked. I also think they just put stuff like that about to make a very boring road “interesting”. • Can you take a day or two off this week? I know you can’t go anywhere but just having a day to allow yourself to laze around, and plan for the week ahead can help. I’ve been trying to do a wee bit of meditation everyday (even a 3 minute breathing exercise has helped) and I’ve started a diary. I mean, nothing exciting going in it but if my anxiety is playing up, writing those thoughts down do help. You might want to try reducing your screen time before bed to switch your brain off before sleep. I know this isn’t specific to your ask but a good sleep helps! Also the weather isn’t the best for it but do get out (if you can) for a walk. If you can’t face going outside at least open a window and get some fresh air. And I’m going to go against other replies (from personal experience) working from bed does not help it just sets bad habits. I did this all through uni and I still struggle to sleep/ switch off years later. So I have to put the above steps in place in get myself in sleep mode. • Is there a phone number on the envelope? Or can you google the return address and get a contact number that way? We had the same problem with some insurance company sending a letter every month to Mr Whoever. After sending 4 or 5 RTS my husband called them and said STOP THAT. They obliged. by Jomato_Soup (Mon 15th Feb 2021 5:04pm)
  • Can you give it back to your postie rather than a rts? Leave it outside your door with a note if you never see them. Or open it and just look at the nhs practice so you can phone them? It’s not like you’re deliberately looking at someone else’s mail. You don’t need to read the letter, just get the hospital details. When you get your letter in I would recommend calling the helpline and asking about your options. by Jomato_Soup (Wed 24th Feb 2021 5:26pm)

Kept FB but drastically reduced “friends” literally to the 100+ I invited to my wedding and it’s a nicer experience as I only use it to speak to pals and family I can’t see right now. I also put a screen time on my phone and certain apps (Reddit) which has helped! by Jomato_Soup (Thu 11th Mar 2021 11:19am)

  • I live near the Huggie and the amount of cars that get abandoned at the side of the main road/bike lanes is pretty bad. If folk are doing that and causing obstructions in a residential area it would get very annoying, very quickly. • £1000 a year seems a bit steep, but maybe it includes some extras? We pay ~£40 per month (although cheaper right now as they gave us a credit due to no work during the first lockdown) and includes building insurance, weekly close cleaning and garden maintenance. Other work, for example we needed a drain pipe replacement and guttering work last year, was split evenly between our 6 flats. Our factor is Lowther (Your Place) and they always seem okay. As others said, it’s not mandatory but a lot of closes will already have something established. by Jomato_Soup (Fri 4th Jun 2021 6:15pm)

  • I don’t work for them so I don’t know all the info. A Sunday shift usually pays time and a half, or overtime, or some additional rate. At some point this additional rate was removed when new contracts were created. The drivers said no - we want our additional rate. They got it. The guards and ticket inspectors didn’t so they’ve went on strike. I’m totally simplifying the situation but up the workers ✊ by Jomato_Soup (Sat 19th Jun 2021 4:37pm)

  • All events can apply for an extension to the current guidelines. They may also be able to say that the full procession is made up of groups/bands walking in smaller numbers. No that I’m in support of this specific march but it can be done. by Jomato_Soup (Thu 1st Jul 2021 8:38pm)

  • Ours came in two working days. Request it right now (if you haven’t already) and hopefully it’ll be with you this week. When requesting it you’re logged into the NHS vaccine bookings site - would they accepted you logging in and showing them proof that way? As a worst case scenario. by Jomato_Soup (Sun 15th Aug 2021 6:29pm)

  • Spoke to Jane McCarry (Isa, Still Game) on the phone. My old work were looking at hiring her to MC at a ball. She was really nice and chatty, even though we ended up not booking her. Seen Gavin Mitchell (Boaby, Still Game) in the queue at Primark. A few “two pints, prick” thrown his way that he just ignored 😂 And to complete my Still Game hat-trick I also served Stevie the Bookie. Awkwardly said “you really look like Stevie the Bookie” and he just laughed, menacingly, and said, “A um!”. by Jomato_Soup (Wed 8th Sep 2021 5:34pm)

  • Try iherb, feel unique and beauty bay for Korean brands. I’ve bought all my Cosrx stuff from these. The skin care subs are really good and the UK ones will help direct you to our stores. I’m currently using: Glossier jelly cleanser. It’s so gentle and doesn’t foam, takes off makeup and feels nice. Cosrx AHA toner 2 a week Neutrogena hydro boost moisturiser - love it! Timeless vit C / hyaluronic acid 2 a week I also have a retinal cream from Superdrug that I use 2 a week. by Jomato_Soup (Mon 4th Oct 2021 10:03pm)

I think the postie must have recognised my name and hoped for the best. Anyway, phoned and my Dr is on holiday. I’ve to phone first thing Monday morning haha. Annoying thing is… I actually spoke to my Dr last week. She didn’t think to mention this? by Jomato_Soup (Thu 21st Oct 2021 2:39pm)

  • Another vote for dehumidifier! Ours cost roughly £150 and it’s the best thing we ever bought. We have a Meaco - would recommend. I also put bleach in a bucket, dipped in kitchen roll and stuck that to the worse areas round the windows. I think I left it on for a full day then cleaned it off. Seemed to help. by Jomato_Soup (Thu 11th Nov 2021 8:25pm)
  • Got to go to Beat6 last night. Outstanding! It’s another 6 by Nico restaurant. Has a changing menu every few weeks and all profits are going to the Beatson. Win win. It’s just across the road from Coia’s in Dennistoun and prices are the same as his Glasgow place. by Jomato_Soup (Sat 13th Nov 2021 8:01am)

  • Anyone had flies in your bathroom? Just small things like fruit flies (but the vinegar in a jar didn’t work). No idea where they are coming from, thinking in a vent or behind the toilet? I’ve killed about 10 but more appeared a few days later 🤢 Any product recommendations to clear them? We’re going to be out the house for a few days so can leave it do it its thing. by Jomato_Soup (Mon 15th Nov 2021 12:39pm)
  • Thanks! It’s proper giving me the boak. Even though the bathroom is clean and I’m trying to reassure myself it’s because it’s cold but the bathroom is warm/humid. by Jomato_Soup (Mon 15th Nov 2021 1:04pm)
  • Nope :( cactus in another room but it’s pest free. by Jomato_Soup (Mon 15th Nov 2021 1:21pm)
  • Oh defo, we’ve had wee bugs in the soil before that got the fairy liquid treatment. But the flies in my bathroom are nowhere the plant. They were all around the window/vent in the bathroom. by Jomato_Soup (Mon 15th Nov 2021 8:04pm)
  • I think Sloan’s would be good with those numbers. Our wedding was there and we had 100(ish) guests and we had to move chairs back for the dancing. by Jomato_Soup (Mon 22nd Nov 2021 2:50pm)
  • Congratulations!! Was a lovely venue! We only used it for the evening reception as we got married abroad but a full day looks beautiful too. Staff were very helpful and we used LilyCole Events for fairy lights. We were able to go into the “snug” for some family pictures which I would recommend because it’s got that great dark green ceiling but it can only hold like 20 people. We also took a walk around Royal Exchange Square for pics. Big shout to BK photography! And Sloans/Argyll Arcade will let you take photos walking round the arcade after it closes. Especially nice if you got your rings there. With it being in the city centre we had to park on queen street and walk round with boxes of our table decorations etc. It wasn’t the end of the world and if you’re paying someone to decorate then no worries. Was defo cheaper to buy your own bottles and pay corkage. And it’s up 2 flights of stairs with no lift so there is no wheelchair access. Make your band/dj aware because they’ll have to carry up their equipment. Our band Manhattan were awesome and we also booked them a table to get food if they wanted before starting / during their break. Sloan’s we’re happy to accommodate this. Overall I loved it. by Jomato_Soup (Tue 23rd Nov 2021 11:03am)
  • Doors are at 6pm, first band will on about 7pm, The Hives about 7.45pm/8pm and I reckon The Offspring will on stage around 9pm (maybe a bit before). There are still tickets so it won’t be jam packed. You’ll need a covid passport/proof of vaccine unless your exempt and will need to wear a mask unless eating, drinking or dancing. First gig this size myself so I’m assuming you can remove your mask to jump about when they are on. I hope so! The Raddison Red is very close but dunno what atmosphere is like there. Maybe look at Strip Joint it’s about a 10 min walk away and is decent. Enjoy!! by Jomato_Soup (Sat 27th Nov 2021 4:12pm)
  • But did you lose a shoe? by Jomato_Soup (Thu 2nd Dec 2021 8:31am)
  • Just got Kevin Bridges tickets! Got one for my mother-in-law’s Christmas. She thinks it’s sold out so that’ll be a nice surprise for her. If anyone else is looking - it’s says sold out on his social media but you can still buy some on ticketmaster. by Jomato_Soup (Fri 10th Dec 2021 11:56am)
  • Urgh. Try again in a wee bit? Folk sitting with them in a basket for ages and not buying get chucked out. Oh make sure you’re on the app - the website seemed to say say sold out. by Jomato_Soup (Fri 10th Dec 2021 1:23pm)
  • Disagree. Folk have had them up around mine for ages. Some have been taken down/blown away due to the bad weather though. by Jomato_Soup (Sat 11th Dec 2021 1:08pm)
  • Also The Walking Wounded. Book of shorts and one of my absolute favourites. by Jomato_Soup (Sat 11th Dec 2021 1:06pm)
  • They always have stuff on that “too good to go” app as well - so you can get cheaper items that will be chucked otherwise. by Jomato_Soup (Tue 21st Dec 2021 5:08pm)
  • We had these last month. Well, we had wee flies. Not fruit flies as they didn’t go for the cider vinegar trick. Sprayed fly killer behind the toilet, at the bathroom window and in the bathroom in general. Left that over night. We were going away for a few nights so stuck some bleach down the bath, sink and toilet. This seemed to work. Good luck! by Jomato_Soup (Thu 23rd Dec 2021 1:50pm)
  • Happy Christmas Eve! Been a shite week so I’m really looking forward to having a wee drink and nice meal with my family and giving my Maw a big cuddle. How ever you do it - have a lovely weekend and take care of yourselves. by Jomato_Soup (Fri 24th Dec 2021 10:08am)
  • What’s the general consensus on DCB ltd parking fines? I’ve been sent one from 6 years ago! Since the apparent “offence” I’ve moved and changed my name. Their letter says they used “tracing equipment” to find me. Do I just ignore? Do I contact the shop I was parked at? by Jomato_Soup (Mon 10th Jan 2022 1:19pm)
  • Thank you. The company are called Direct Collection Bailiffs Ltd. I clearly ignored it at the time and forgot all about it. The letter makes it sound scary but without evidence I was even driving then I dunno what they can do 🤷‍♀️ by Jomato_Soup (Mon 10th Jan 2022 2:17pm)

  • Anyone else had covid and still have weird taste / smell months on? Had it in September and lost taste and smell. By December it was back but I randomly smell smoke and now peppers have the most sickly sweet taste. Husband confirmed pepper tastes normal to him. Wtf. by Jomato_Soup (Mon 31st Jan 2022 10:41am)

  • So stressful to do this but well done! I agree with those saying try again. Had a similar issue with our neighbour although it was domestic and drug abuse. I had to call three times to be taken seriously and get through to the housing officer as I was fobbed off at first by the factor and GHA. I had called the police at the time but there was a lot of stuff going on which didn’t require an emergency call. Felt like a dick but I eventually said “if this woman is beaten to death or od’s are you happy with the information you’ve given me?” Weirdly they changed their tune. by Jomato_Soup (Tue 22nd Feb 2022 8:06pm)

  • Same thing happened to me around 15 years ago (that makes you feel old!). It was through in Edinburgh but same thing. It was advertised as an events and sales job. Get to the interview and all the team leaders are doing a huddle and chanting “LETS GET RICH”. Took us on the bus about 40 mins away to Port Seton and we’ve to go door to door trying to sell people subscriptions to lovefilm or whatever. Went to about 3 doors until I finally called BS. The guy I was paired up with to “train” me was so shocked I was going to leave. Now that I think back, I was dressed for an interview. A blazer, business dress, tights and wee flimsy shoes… wtf why did I even go on the bus 😂 These companies are the worst. by Jomato_Soup (Wed 6th Apr 2022 10:03pm)
  • This morning I was the only person in Starbucks wearing a mask, including the staff. There were 4 staff and maybe 7/8 customers. That was new! I’d say it’s been 50-50 on the train and most shops. by Jomato_Soup (Thu 7th Apr 2022 11:04pm)

  • Went in on Saturday and it was dismal. At first the bouncers claimed it was too busy, two girls then leave and we ask “can we get in now?”. Reluctantly they graciously allow us. Place was dead (maybe a quarter full) which by pre-covid standard is insane for a Saturday. It was roughly 11pm and the dj wasn’t taking any more karaoke requests. What’s happened?? by Jomato_Soup (Sat 21st May 2022 12:00pm)

These two guys, oot their trees, shirtless, jumping round it shouting, “Junkies Shower!” by Jomato_Soup (Wed 20th Jul 2022 7:53pm)
  • Genuinely feel lucky with our GP. During covid lockdown we had to phone and leave a message with the receptionists on the issue. You then got a phone call appointment/asked to come in same day if urgent. Or a phone call appointment booked in within 2-3 days. Now it’s pretty much back to normal expect phone call appointments have stayed. We can phone any time and book in. We also have lovely receptionists. by Jomato_Soup (Wed 27th Jul 2022 5:38pm)
  • I think you’re covered for restaurants, although I’ll also shout for Sylvan. I still dream about their black pepper broccoli. Look into the The Vegan Kind online supermarket, they are based in Glasgow area and do a monthly subscription box that’s really great. Also google “accidentally vegan Asda/Lidl” etc and you’ll get great lists from people on normal things that are vegan. Oatly milk is top tier, I order mine online which brings it to £1 rather than £1.80! Best cook book I have is “The Green Toasting Tin” by Rukmimi Iyer. Here are a few meals my husband and I make on the regular, all veggie but can easily be vegan. • If you shop in asda, get the rewards app! Genuinely had it since August and already had 3 £10 off vouchers for messages. Not so much helpful now, but build credit (if you can) with your heating over summer. I didn’t reduce our costs and have built up decent credit so we’re no in the shit over winter. Wear extra layers if working from home. I’m in a jumper or oodie and thick socks. This was before the crisis but we cut down on meat and dairy. Noticed a £20 drop in our weekly shop. Small things like subbing mince with lentils for bolognaise / oat milk which you can buy from Amazon / make veggie fajitas instead of spending extra on chicken. by Jomato_Soup (Thu 24th Nov 2022 12:07am)

  • I got a call asking if I would be able to make to the next jury service and I answered the phone like a complete fanny (by accident). I also had a dr appointment but they didn’t ask for proof. I was at work and we have bad signal so it’s always a broken line. She confirmed my name but said my maiden name and it threw me so the call went: Court clerk: Hi, is this Jane Smith? Me: Eh… oh, aye! Yes. Sorry. Court clerk: Okay. Can you make jury service or do you have an appointment so you need excused? Me: Right. Erm. I think I actually have a dr appointment. Clerk: Okay. We’ll excuse you. Bye. So act like a complete twat and you’ll be fine. by Jomato_Soup (Sat 11th Feb 2023 2:34pm)

  • Slapping! I might still be drunk. We somehow ended up having a few drinks with the guys after the show. by Jomato_Soup (Sun 12th Mar 2023 8:59am)
  • The best thing you can do is continue being there for your friend. Even at a distance make sure she knows someone is there. He will continually try to manipulate her to abandon you and her other friends and family. On average it takes a woman 7 attempts to leave an abusive relationship (including going back after the initial breakup). The “cycle of abuse” and coercive control are so powerful and it’s just fucking awful to witness. I’m sorry I don’t have much other advice but I do hope she can leave for good very soon! by Jomato_Soup (Thu 23rd Mar 2023 11:35am)
  • Aw I was at this too! Met the guys from Sugarcult afterwards, was pretty cool! by Jomato_Soup (Sun 2nd Apr 2023 9:23am)
  • Loving this thread! Mine was Gig on the Green 2001. Alien Ant Farm were the first band on and they rocked. I was too stupid to pay attention to other bands playing such as The Cult and Queens of the Stone Age. But did see Papa Roach, Marlyn Mason and Eminem. I was 12. by Jomato_Soup (Sun 2nd Apr 2023 9:32am)
  • It’s their Christmas tree for me, one bauble. Very festive. Still go in for one before getting the train though. by Jomato_Soup (Sun 2nd Apr 2023 10:25am)
  • Cup at Renfield St, Blythswood Sq and Willow Tea Rooms have been some of my absolute favourites. Oh, Carlton George too! Stunning views. I always take my mum for her Christmas and we’ve tried a fair few now. by Jomato_Soup (Fri 19th May 2023 9:22pm)
  • I have the holy trinity of parkhead, robroyston and the fort all being close driving distance. All shite. I was in parkhead one the other day (needs must) and the wee woman on cleaning up giving the bams a row for not cleaning their table was gold. In general I think all McDonalds have gone downhill. by Jomato_Soup (Tue 30th May 2023 10:11pm)
  • GnR smashed it last night!! Managed to get parked, get food, stroll to the gig, decent view and sound, rain didn’t cause an issue and I drove home without being stuck in traffic. by Jomato_Soup (Wed 28th Jun 2023 9:29am)
  • I don’t know if the Cup on Renfield Street is wheelchair accessible but they also have one in Merchant City. by Jomato_Soup (Wed 28th Jun 2023 2:56pm)
  • Radisson Blu hotel does a nice afternoon tea and everything is on one level, including toilets. Carlton George hotel is another nice one with lovely views. It has lift access as it’s effectively a roof top bar. Someone else mentioned Willows which is also fantastic! by Jomato_Soup (Wed 28th Jun 2023 3:02pm)
  • We got it recently and it’s much better than BT ever was. by Jomato_Soup (Mon 10th Jul 2023 4:28pm)
