  • My area is SNP heavy with local MPs. So I voted for the independent candidates.. by weegmack (Mon 2nd May 2022 11:08pm)
  • Thanks. I just feel so stupid - women fought for the vote and I make a point never to waste my vote. Not that I was that inspired to vote for anyone this year though. I’ll try going along to the polling station. I still have the polling cards too. I guess if they won’t let me, then I’m gubbed right enough. by weegmack (Thu 5th May 2022 4:49pm)
  • Thanks so much. I can go along later today. I’ll take my postal vote and my polling card and see what they say. by weegmack (Thu 5th May 2022 4:49pm)
  • Oh don’t worry! I use the word gubbed all the time 😂. If they won’t take my vote then it’s just one of those things. by weegmack (Thu 5th May 2022 5:06pm)

  • That’s not strictly true. All banks require a survey to be done if you are remortgaging. Standard practice, so here’s hoping that’s all that’s happening OP. X by weegmack (Tue 7th Jun 2022 8:41pm)
  • Thanks! I’ll tell her to check it out. She’s not on Reddit - thanks so much. by weegmack (Mon 15th Aug 2022 10:19pm)

  • Yeah I looked on their website and wasn’t so sure about the razor cutting. I will take a look, thanks! X by weegmack (Mon 15th Aug 2022 10:48pm)
  • They do look really good, but she’s a student - it’s £160 for the first appointment. I really wish I could just pay that for her, but I can’t just now 😕 by weegmack (Mon 15th Aug 2022 11:27pm)
  • That’s ok! If I had the money, I’d treat her to it - she’s definitely feeling really down about her hair, bless her. X by weegmack (Mon 15th Aug 2022 11:44pm)
  • Thanks so much - that place looks really good! by weegmack (Tue 16th Aug 2022 4:46pm)
  • Totally support them. Though just want to say that if you see any teachers NOT striking, don’t criticise them. My sister works with very, very vulnerable kids and if she’s not there for them during school hours, those kids don’t get fed, cared for or even spoken to. So if she’s allowed to keep her class on those days she will. She would love to just walk out and stand with others, but she has to put those kids first. by weegmack (Wed 24th Aug 2022 10:51am)
  • Thing I hate most about these people is that they THINK they are pro-life, when they’re actually pro-BIRTH. They only care about the fact that the foetus should be born. They they just do not care about the then child (the life) being cared for, fed, clothed, educated. They don’t care if that new life has no quality of life, nowhere safe to be raised in, etc. As George Carlin said: “Pro-life conservatives are obsessed with the foetus from conception to nine months, but after that, they don’t want to know about you and they don’t want to hear from you. No nothing. No neonatal care, no daycare, no head start, no school lunch, no food stamps, no welfare, no nothing. If you’re pre-born, you’re fine. If you’re pre-school, you’re f****d”. They should be arrested for breach of the peace and from attempting to stop women from getting the care they need and are entitled to. Incidentally, I’m a Christian (just probably not a good one and pretty liberal too), so I am really hoping these middle-aged right-wingers aren’t waving any bibles about. Because it makes me ashamed to call myself a Christian in that case. by weegmack (Wed 24th Aug 2022 2:48pm)
  • Aw thanks. I appreciate that. Just don’t want to be tarred with the same brush as these awful people… by weegmack (Wed 24th Aug 2022 7:29pm)
  • Have you tried Happy Lets? Or Western Lettings? What Uni are you going to? My daughter managed to get a flat i Partick with Harvey Lets, but we had to really push for it. She went armed with a recommendation letter from her old high school minister 😂. And me and her dad wrote to them as well. It’s literally a full-time job trying to get a flat just now. If you’re going to look on Gumtree, make sure the person who wants to let has a landlord registration number. You could also phone round all the student villages (Student Roost etc) to see if they have any cancellations. It’s tough out there just now, as there is a shortage of student accommodation. Don’t bother with Clyde Property or FineHolm Letting, they never let to students. GPL is also worth trying. Edit: literally be ready to beg. And sell yourself as a reliable tenant - they want to know you’re going to look after their property and not wreck it. And most of all, you’ll need a guarantor’s details handy. Good luck. by weegmack (Thu 25th Aug 2022 12:21am)
  • Just to throw a cat among the pigeons here…..the people who will be affected most here are the kids who undoubtedly won’t eat the three days the schools are closed. My sister is a teacher of very vulnerable children and she’s worried sick about them, because they rely on their school breakfast and lunch. by weegmack (Fri 2nd Sep 2022 10:11am)
  • Oh yeah, sorry I do know that. Truly, I’m not blaming the support workers. Councils all need to get their finger out! by weegmack (Fri 2nd Sep 2022 12:49pm)

  • That’s good xx by weegmack (Fri 2nd Sep 2022 12:48pm)
  • Wow. Imagine having decent jobs, having kids and managing fine. Then a world-wide pandemic comes and kills people, knackers the economy and takes away their jobs. Imagine if one or both of those parents lost their jobs and couldn’t get another one, then a massive fuel hike comes along, followed by a ridiculous hike in energy costs. And you have to choose which meals to skip and you rely on a school to give your kids a meal. Imagine that. by weegmack (Fri 2nd Sep 2022 12:50pm)
  • I’m not blaming the support workers. Of course they deserve more pay - they’ve never been well paid. I just voicing a point of view. Strikes are necessary, but there’s always a difficult side to them, by weegmack (Fri 2nd Sep 2022 12:50pm)

  • My daughter (now at uni) was badly bullied at her high school in East Ayrshire local authority. I lost count of how many times I was up at that school about it. They did f*** all and in the end, the Local Authority was wholly to blame: their view was that the bullies needed the attention and help, but no assistance would be offered to my daughter. So she just had to suffer while those little dicks got all the attention. I guess the teachers have to go by their LA guidelines, but not once did any of them stick their head above the parapet for them. It's taken my daughter some time and a lot of counselling to realise that she actually deserves friends - heartbreaking. I'm glad to say she has a group of lovely friends at uni now, but she'll often tell me she doesn't actually believe it. There are too many kids getting away with being utterly horrible to their peers and to their teachers because there is never any consequence - they know nobody can do anything about them. by weegmack (Sun 20th Nov 2022 1:34am)

  • So true. My daughter lives in Partick and is eligible for free bus travel. But the bus never sodding turns up. It was like trying to breach the security of the FBI trying to get the free bus pass and she's barely used it.... by weegmack (Mon 5th Dec 2022 1:11am)
  • That's disgusting by weegmack (Mon 5th Dec 2022 1:15am)
  • They also get sent in to shoplift too. One of my daughters works in a well-known ladies lingerie store in Buchanan St and they are constantly being robbed by these women. My mum lives in Largs and she sees them getting dropped off there during the summer months too. I agree with you about the women though - they're definitely controlled by the men by weegmack (Mon 5th Dec 2022 1:20am)

  • You could try a dehumidifier for now. They honestly don't use a lot of electricity. You could let it run overnight in the bathroom for a while and see if that helps. If you're drying washing in the flat, put the dehumidifier in the room also - it zaps up all the damp and dries your washing faster too. by weegmack (Thu 8th Dec 2022 1:42am)

  • I think you're forgetting that the job market is shit since the pandemic. If people are lucky enough to have a steady job just now, they're going to keep it - even if it's with Scottish Power. I'd be interested to know what places you would consider to be better places to work: supermarkets are raising prices and throw food away daily, so they wouldn't be a good option; car dealerships sell petrol cars which pollute the atmosphere, so that's a no; major shopping malls use an obscene amount of energy, so I guess that's a no also; banks are greedy, so no to that; most major corporations are out for themselves, so no again; the government is shit so working for them or any local authority is going to be supporting said shit government, so another no; NHS is a postcode lottery, so working for them is supporting their poor practice... No job is perfect. If I worked for Scottish Power and had a family to feed, clothe and keep as warm as possible, I'd be keeping that job. We're absolutely not living in times when we can pick and choose jobs from a moral standpoint. People are literally just keeping going and that's all they can do. by weegmack (Fri 16th Dec 2022 1:35am)
  • I'm going to disagree with you about the NHS. It's badly run, poorly funded and nobody is valued as an employee. It's also a reactive, rather than a proactive institution, which leads to no end of problems. Talking from very difficult first hand experience. My main point was, folks who are working for Scottish Power are mostly just earning a living. Which is hard enough these days. We'll just have to agree to disagree. by weegmack (Sun 18th Dec 2022 1:16am)
  • Thanks so much. I'll check that out! X by weegmack (Fri 6th Jan 2023 6:42pm)

  • She's seen her GP in Partick and they said not to bother: "why would you want a label? It'll be 2 years anyway". Her Uni counsellor has suggested ADD innatentive - she ticks all the boxes. I always thought she had ASD, but on reading about ADD-I, I'd say she ticks every box. I'm not wasting anymore time with the NHS. I'm not well either and getting surgery soon and I just want to help her xx by weegmack (Fri 6th Jan 2023 6:45pm)
  • Just wanted to say I'm so sorry you're in this situation. It's really horrible to be made to feel so unwelcome. When do you start college and is it part-time work you're looking for? by weegmack (Mon 16th Jan 2023 12:29am)
  • So sorry you're in this position. 😔. I hope you get the help and safety that you need. Xx by weegmack (Mon 16th Jan 2023 12:32am)
  • Just wanted to offer a shoulder. It sounds so miserable. Which college? by weegmack (Mon 16th Jan 2023 12:37am)
  • I'm glad you're on a course - opportunities will come in time. But I know it's so tricky to find work just now. My daughter is studying at Glasgow Uni and is searching for part-time jobs. All I can suggest is just keep applying. Ask around at college too - other students will have jobs and may know of vacancies x by weegmack (Mon 16th Jan 2023 12:46am)
  • Aw bless you. There's some good advice about jobs in this thread now. Keeping my fingers crossed for you! X by weegmack (Mon 16th Jan 2023 1:25pm)
  • So true. I don't understand why folk can't just scroll past. by weegmack (Sat 21st Jan 2023 12:32pm)
  • My husband's work involves going into all the hospitals in Scotland. When he's at the QEUH, and has to use the bogs, he inevitably sees guys walking straight out of the stall after taking a dump and just walking out. And some of them are fucking doctors. Once he had the joyful experience of finding a giant shit right in the middle of the floor. He went to tell the cleaning guys and they were like "ffs not again". by weegmack (Tue 24th Jan 2023 12:14am)
  • My dad used to do that and it was fucking disgusting 😒 by weegmack (Tue 24th Jan 2023 12:10am)

  • Thanks for this. My daughter is at Glasgow Uni and is staying in Partick. I can't go to help because I'm having to isolate before an operation. Any updates would help! Xx by weegmack (Tue 24th Jan 2023 8:05pm)
  • Thanks so much! What a nightmare this has been for so many people. Her water was back on by 10pm and I told her to run it for a while. Phew! by weegmack (Wed 25th Jan 2023 12:37am)
  • It's great that people ask all sorts of things here. That's the whole point! Glasgow is an all-sorts kind of a city and always has been. Don't be so miserable! by weegmack (Wed 25th Jan 2023 12:41am)
  • It's the same in every city or town with a uni sadly. by weegmack (Wed 25th Jan 2023 12:53am)

  • I hope you're OK!! by weegmack (Thu 26th Jan 2023 1:00am)
  • Probably worth pointing out that there are a lot of rural communities really not that far from Glasgow. You can be in the countryside within 25 minutes drive from the city centre. It's a totally different demographic and landscape to London. Rural communities are chronically underserved by public transport, so people need their cars. by weegmack (Fri 27th Jan 2023 12:46am)
  • Eww yuk 😅. Dirty bastard!!! by weegmack (Fri 27th Jan 2023 6:23pm)
  • There's been this shift in people in the last 10 years or so.....massive entitlement. No idea where it's come from, but significantly less people have anything resembling manners and are just so fucking entitled. Sad really by weegmack (Sat 28th Jan 2023 11:54am)

  • My English Lit lectures were in the Boyd Orr. I was whispering to my friend about a part of the text I didn't understand, not knowing the lecturer had stopped proceedings because l was talking. Mortifying!! by weegmack (Sat 28th Jan 2023 1:01pm)
  • My daughter is studying at Glasgow University and is in a wee tenement in Partick. Her neighbours couldn't be kinder. They know she's on her own and they really look out for her. Even when her shower flooded her neighbour downstairs - they came up to help her get it sorted until I got there. They were more concerned that she was upset! by weegmack (Sat 28th Jan 2023 3:37pm)

  • Totally agree with that. by weegmack (Sat 28th Jan 2023 10:09pm)
  • I get what you mean - Edinburgh has the Old Toun and has never really been heavily industrialised. Different kind of history! by weegmack (Sat 28th Jan 2023 10:08pm)
  • Agreed! by weegmack (Sun 29th Jan 2023 11:25am)
  • Second that. My husband won't go anywhere else. Also never spends more than £200, often getting a three-piece suit for £100-£150. by weegmack (Mon 30th Jan 2023 11:27pm)
  • GPs are contracted to work for the NHS. This allows them a far greater earning capacity. Pandemic aside, this has always bugged me, as I see nurses doing triple (or more) of the amount of work that GPs do, often with just as good medical knowledge, for an absolute pittance. I do understand their workload has increased by a huge amount. Since the pandemic, more people need to speak to their GP for various reasons, for example, struggling with orthopaedic pain while they wait on incredibly long waiting lists; problems with long covid; mental health problems (undoubtedly as a result of the pandemic and cost of living crisis); and there have been some nasty illnesses around this winter (to be expected due to lesser immunity due to living in lockdown). It's a sorry mess. Primary Care needs re-evaluated. by weegmack (Tue 31st Jan 2023 12:25am)
  • That's just terrible- I'm so sorry that happened to you. Are you in a better place now? In 2020 I really needed support from my GP and they were just awful. I was having really bad pain in my entire gut and I was refused a hospital referral on the grounds that I was "just anxious" (I have Anxiety Disorder). I ended up in a bad way and had to go privately (my husband's work has health insurance). Long story and a lot of tests and procedures later, I have been diagnosed with long covid of the gut (pain for no reason), a kidney tumour (benign but will need removed in time) and a gallbladder full of stones, covered in scarring and very enlarged. I'm in hospital right now after having it removed and I feel like crap ...... by weegmack (Tue 31st Jan 2023 12:32am)
  • That sounds like an amazing solution- why don't they all do that?? by weegmack (Tue 31st Jan 2023 12:37am)
  • Thank you 😊. I think you should register with a new GP. It's so stressful and you deserve better care x by weegmack (Tue 31st Jan 2023 10:25am)
  • I'm a Christian - please don't tar us all with the same brush. I am firmly pro-choice. These are conservative, right-wing, terrible people. They call themselves pro-life, but they're essentially "pro-fetus". As soon as that baby is born, they want nothing to do with them: are they going to provide financially and emotionally for that baby? Nope. They are short-sighted to say the least. I've confronted people like them and there's literally no point. They're so blinded by their opinion, they have no care for the women who, for whatever reason, have made the agonising decision to have an abortion. by weegmack (Wed 1st Feb 2023 1:42pm)

When I was wee, I was always dressed up to go "into town", as my mum called it. • I'm so sorry you're in this position. I can totally get why you are so anxious and stressed. It's very good advice to get in touch with Shelter in the first instance, but also go to Student Services to see if there's anything they can do. Where are you studying? I understand you don't want to burden your friends, but do let them know what's going on. You need your friends for support. Xx by weegmack (Tue 7th Feb 2023 12:33am)
  • My aunt lives near the park and I'm sure she saw them recently...I'd better check she wasn't talking about a different park 🤦‍♀️ by weegmack (Tue 7th Feb 2023 7:15am)

  • I don't remember those. I've been googling school milk cartons 1980s and can't find the ones we had by weegmack (Wed 8th Feb 2023 12:49am)
  • She did indeed - like she ruined everything by weegmack (Wed 8th Feb 2023 1:26am)
  • Yep - born mid 70s! I don't remember being offered flavoured milk either. Maybe that was a post code lottery! by weegmack (Wed 8th Feb 2023 1:26am)
  • 🤣🤣 ah yes. I clearly remember a daily milk barf in my class and the jannie with the sawdust. My sister has never really done well with dairy and they just made her drink it. So, like you, she doesn't touch dairy at all. by weegmack (Wed 8th Feb 2023 1:32am)
  • My kids went to school in mid-2000s and they got the warm Wiseman cartons. When my youngest was in pre-school, they'd hand out extra cartons of nice, unrefridgerated milk on a Friday at home time and she would promptly barf as soon as we got home! I put a stop to that.... by weegmack (Wed 8th Feb 2023 1:29am)
  • Oh boy lol. Can you imagine what would happen if you forced a pupil to drink milk now? by weegmack (Wed 8th Feb 2023 1:41am)
  • 🤣🤣 that's exactly right about the cartons. You had a steadfast pal there by weegmack (Wed 8th Feb 2023 10:37am)
  • I remember those too. And it being warm... by weegmack (Wed 8th Feb 2023 10:43am)

  • Do you remember the nit nurse coming round the school? by weegmack (Wed 8th Feb 2023 1:29pm)
  • It's terrible that they made us drink it - never get away with that now by weegmack (Wed 8th Feb 2023 1:30pm)
  • I know! It wouldn't be allowed now - there would be solicitors all over that by weegmack (Wed 8th Feb 2023 2:01pm)
  • Ah you were lucky! I never got them in school - I have long hair, but my mum always set it in pigtails. I think that helped. My kids got them at primary school - my youngest has curly red hair. It was zero fun trying to comb through that! by weegmack (Wed 8th Feb 2023 2:07pm)
  • Teachers have a lot to be responsible for! I never understood why they kept it on the freaking radiators by weegmack (Wed 8th Feb 2023 6:44pm)
  • Chunky milk 🤮 by weegmack (Wed 8th Feb 2023 6:43pm)
  • I can't find a pic online either! There was a group of lads in my class who just chased after whoever got the monkey carton and battered them/made monkey noises at them all day. Wee fuckers by weegmack (Wed 8th Feb 2023 6:43pm)

  • I started school in 1979 and nobody got the belt in my primary school. However, the teachers were quite happy to cuff you around your head or lugs, or the back of the legs. One of them liked to drag you by the arm from your seat, take you by the shoulders and shake you. I was terrified of her. Interestingly, her son (2 years older than me) ended up stabbing someone when he was 18.... by weegmack (Mon 13th Feb 2023 12:44am)
  • That's so terrible 😞 by weegmack (Mon 13th Feb 2023 12:47am)
  • Abuse and its associated trauma can come from any source. It's very outmoded to think a person should only be traumatised by sexual abuse, domestic violence etc. Lots of people live with trauma and are too afraid to voice it, because they think their trauma isn't "bad" enough. It's entirely possible that someone could be left with lasting emotional pain from being given the belt at school - particularly if they didn't do what the teacher was belting them for. As for your dog analogy....my FIL used to hit and occasionally kick my husband's childhood dog. Poor dog ended up terrified of my FIL and nervous. by weegmack (Mon 13th Feb 2023 12:56am)
  • Thank you! When I mention white dog jobbies nobody knows what I'm talking about. What happened to them?? by weegmack (Sun 19th Feb 2023 6:48pm)

  • These people are not pro-life; they are pro-birth. They have fuck all care for what happens to the baby after they're born. They're religious fanatics with total tunnel vision, completely blind to any reason why a woman would seek an abortion. I want to point out that I'm a Christian and I am FIRMLY pro-choice (and I like to swear too). They're harassing, scaring and shaming women who have every right to health care, and every right to take care of their own bodies. They need to be stopped, arrested, SOMETHING. by weegmack (Sun 26th Feb 2023 3:29pm)
  • You beat me to it - couldn't agree more by weegmack (Sun 26th Feb 2023 3:31pm)

  • When I was a student in the early 90's, I was on the bus one day in the City Centre. The driver had the Daily Record spread out in front of him, reading it while he was driving. Impressive. by weegmack (Fri 3rd Mar 2023 11:58pm)
  • I'm so sorry you witnessed that. It's traumatic, to say the least. You'll be exhausted today. Please reach out to uni to tell them what's happened and if you're still struggling with sleep or intrusive thoughts about it, go and see your GP. Take care xx by weegmack (Wed 8th Mar 2023 8:54am)
  • I can just hear my late gran saying "Jeezo" to that story 😂 by weegmack (Fri 10th Mar 2023 6:08pm)
  • This exactly. They have no idea, nor care, how their actions affect anyone else. They're blinded by their belief to the point that they'd gladly see anyone accessing Sandford not get the help they need and potentially end up in dire circumstances. I've said it before on here - these people are pro-birth: they DO NOT CARE for life. Nobody should feel afraid to access health care - and these people are bullying and intimidating. I know their type - I'm a Christian and I've met too many people like these bams. They have entirely forgotten that the root of their faith is actually love and acceptance, rather than the White Supremacist, Right Wing Conservative Christian garbage they've been fed. If they're going to justify their actions because of their faith, they need to step back, pack up and GO HOME. Because they're acting in the most un-christian way EVER. These turds make me embarrassed to have the same root faith as them. But they'd probably burn me at the stake for being Liberal by weegmack (Sat 11th Mar 2023 10:11am)
  • Congratulations!! My daughter is there studying sciences- the faculty is great and she's loving it. Good luck! X by weegmack (Sat 11th Mar 2023 12:25pm)
  • 👏👏👏 by weegmack (Sat 11th Mar 2023 8:35pm)
  • No they don't. Because they have no ability to see past their own prejudice. I'm pretty sure they'd find something to protest about all the other services too. by weegmack (Sun 12th Mar 2023 1:24am)
  • I agree. I think all health care settings should be protected from any form of protests. They are sanctuaries for the people who need them and should be completely protected from protesters by weegmack (Sun 12th Mar 2023 1:27am)
  • Just...wow. They're not being an intolerant narcissist. They're caring about vulnerable people. You talk a lot about rights to protest - but I don't understand how you can possibly think these protesters have a right to intimidate vulnerable people from accessing health care. This really isn't about rights - it's about common decency. by weegmack (Sun 12th Mar 2023 1:34am)
  • I loved them!! Used to get those as a treat at my gran's. Happy days by weegmack (Mon 13th Mar 2023 12:29am)
  • That's quite an achievement! It's handy to look at saturated fats too - keeping those low can really help. It can be tricky eating out - if there's no calories shown, try to avoid anything really cheesy or creamy. Good luck! by weegmack (Mon 13th Mar 2023 12:26am)
  • I don't have experience of occupation health, but I do have Anxiety Disorder and periods of depression. My advice to you is to be honest- and don't turn up dolled up! I finally got help when I fronted up at the GP with no make-up on and crap looking hair - it worked! X by weegmack (Mon 13th Mar 2023 12:38am)
  • I really don't see why this is even a question, mate. Have we not moved on from this? I find this pretty chauvinist tbh. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I guess you will definitely see cultural differences here in fashion, hair styles/hair colour. But Glasgow is a city of many cultures, so if I'm going to entertain your question, I'd say you can't pinpoint one "Beauty standard" here. It's way too multicultural. by weegmack (Mon 13th Mar 2023 12:49am)
  • Glasgow and Strathclyde are pretty strict on their minimum entry requirements, I'm afraid. They're only really interested in your extra curriculars if you're applying for Nursing, Medicine, Primary School Teaching or Music. Those course require an interview - so they want to know why you'd be suitable. What courses did you want to apply for? by weegmack (Mon 13th Mar 2023 12:55am)
  • I'm so sorry for your loss ❤️ by weegmack (Thu 16th Mar 2023 11:05am)

  • Hey OP. Have you sat her down and explained how this is affecting you? I would concentrate more on the fact she never makes contact with you and you feel like you have the bulk of the housework to do. Be honest - you're fed up being left behind and left to do everything. If she gives zero fucks, it might be time to rethink the relationship, as hard as that is. I should also point out that she is undoubtedly an alcoholic.....Good luck OP. by weegmack (Thu 23rd Mar 2023 12:02am)
  • Totally agree. Dogs should just be on a lead, especially around livestock. I saw an interview with the SSPCA recently, around the issue of dogs chasing sheep during lambing season. There was a dog behaviour expert on the interview, who said that no matter how good you think your dog's recall is, when they see livestock, it's like a red mist descends and there's virtually nothing you can do. I've seen it in my own dog (long passed now). He was a loving, gorgeous dog - well trained. But we NEVER let him off the lead because he would chase anything from rabbits to cows. by weegmack (Sun 26th Mar 2023 1:49pm)
  • That's happened to me too. On a walk around woods where I used to live - next thing I know I'm leapt on by a big dug on a lead. So I'm only 4'11" and I got the fright of my life. Didn't bite, but teeth were bared! Apparently he was "just saying hello" ffs 🙄🙄 by weegmack (Sun 26th Mar 2023 1:54pm)

  • Came here to say the same thing. C'mon folks- be nice. The world is shit enough without this garbage by weegmack (Wed 29th Mar 2023 1:21pm)
  • Yep. Second that. My daughter is in a tenement in Partick and it has GCH - she's been cold this winter as she's been very sparing with the heating due to the energy crisis. She'd probably have completely frozen if she'd had electric storage heaters. Ceilings are so high and not the best insulation by weegmack (Thu 30th Mar 2023 1:28am)

  • My gran lived in a room and kitchen in Partick before WW2. There were eight of them: her mother and father, and six children. There was a box bed in the kitchen recess, and the children slept in the room. Sadly, two of the children didn't survive beyond the age of 5, which was a harsh reality for all parents then. Outside toilet and a midden out the back. Shortly before the outbreak of WW2, they were re-housed in a 4-in-a-block in Knightswood. All of its windows were put out on the night of the Clydebank Blitz. Thankfully, they were all in an Anderson Shelter in the shared garden. Despite the hardship, she had very happy memories of the room and kitchen and considered herself privileged to not have been in a single end. by weegmack (Mon 10th Apr 2023 6:41pm)
  • OP, a dermatologist will look at that privately. Don't go looking at private cosmetic clinics. You can call Ross Hall or The Nuffield for a quote to see if it's affordable. They do payment plans. Other than that, you'll need to make a pest of yourself at your surgery. Tell them it's keeping you awake at night because it hurts. Say that it's really impacting you mentally too. X Edit: did the GP say what kind of growth it is? Pilar cyst or lipoma, for example? Xx by weegmack (Thu 13th Apr 2023 12:50am)

  • That's a really traumatic memory. Just goes to show how life can change in an instant x by weegmack (Fri 14th Apr 2023 9:07am)
  • I live on a new development that isn't finished yet. We've had so many problems with kids breaking into the site. Besides them vandalising and stealing stuff, they also climb up scaffolding and machinery. It's so dangerous. The police come, drive them home, then they get punted out again. Nobody at home neither cares about them, nor wants them home. It's only a matter of time before there is an accident. This is a tragedy, but would absolutely have been avoided had the parents of this poor wee lad actually been involved in his whereabouts. The kids that break in here are known to police and social work, yet their parents give zero fucks. But I can guarantee if (God forbid) something happens to one of them, they'll blame anyone else but themselves. by weegmack (Fri 14th Apr 2023 1:32pm)
  • I have two daughters. When they were 10, they were not allowed beyond the end of our road. They could go to the shop, but had to come straight back. I did this for 2 reasons: girls go missing all the time; 10 year-olds are generally not the best judges of consequential action. by weegmack (Fri 14th Apr 2023 3:32pm)
  • You're definitely younger than me lol! We had a trip to the Garden Festival, but I think I was maybe in 2nd year at the high school. But the gift shop is the highlight of every school trip, right?? by weegmack (Fri 14th Apr 2023 7:45pm)

  • Best thing for rats is a Jack Russell terrier - that's what they were originally bred for. They'll chase at rat and tear it to shreds 😬. My lazy old cat would just watch the mice, catch the odd one and bat it around for a while and let it go. In the end, best thing for rodent infestation is poison. It's really the only way, sadly. But overflowing bins and litter is not helping. by weegmack (Mon 17th Apr 2023 10:31pm)

  • I'm so sorry for what you're going through. You're doing the right thing getting some help. Are you able to travel? Auric in Hamilton are very good. All properly registered, qualified etc. I can't get the link to paste on here! It's Auric Psychology in Hamilton. If you Google them, you can see what you think. Take care, OP xx by weegmack (Mon 24th Apr 2023 7:47pm)
  • Amazing news!! You've made my day. Congratulations! X by weegmack (Fri 28th Apr 2023 12:38am)

  • 😆 probably cheaper too by weegmack (Sat 29th Apr 2023 12:05am)
  • This. And definitely invest in a personal alarm. Look online at Ashley - they're the loudest you can buy and have a very bright light also. This all sounds really scary - I'm very glad you got home safely. X by weegmack (Sat 6th May 2023 12:36am)
  • I have one of those - I got them for my daughters also. Bloody loud and the light is so bright too! But, as you say, it's piece of mind and is hopefully enough to scare the crap out of someone by weegmack (Sat 6th May 2023 12:42am)
  • Aspartame gives me the shits - that's what's wrong with artificial sweetners by weegmack (Mon 8th May 2023 1:26am)
  • A lot of people are sensitive to aspartame and saccharine. I was just making light of the fact. I have guts that hate me and can eat and drink very little. Was just making a wee joke there and honestly don't need a lecture about it..... by weegmack (Mon 8th May 2023 9:28am)
  • Sorry - you're right! I'm being a dumbass. by weegmack (Mon 8th May 2023 3:19pm)
  • Well said 👏 by weegmack (Wed 10th May 2023 1:05am)
  • Can I be a bit cheeky and ask where your flat is? My daughter is looking for a one bed flat close to GU x by weegmack (Wed 10th May 2023 1:18am)
  • Plenty of good advice here, but just here to say I'm so sorry this happened to your niece. It's just disgusting and these wee cows need caught. It's aggravated assault and I really hope they're tracked down. Does your niece's school know what happened? X by weegmack (Wed 10th May 2023 1:27am)
  • I appear to have been down voted for asking 😕. Sorry if that wasn't appropriate. Nothing wrong with Bridgeton anyway! Good luck. X by weegmack (Wed 10th May 2023 8:50pm)
  • I'm not sure either 🤔. by weegmack (Wed 10th May 2023 9:39pm)

  • That's awful! You must have been so gutted. You should post a photo of your artwork! by weegmack (Thu 11th May 2023 12:52am)
  • Originally yeah. But Cypress Hill is the more upbeat version. https://youtu.be/8z-BsHZj5Uk by weegmack (Thu 11th May 2023 1:09am)
  • These are amazing! I love them. Do you still do art? X by weegmack (Thu 11th May 2023 9:21am)
  • 😅😅😅 sorry. I am clearly too old to post links on Reddit. by weegmack (Thu 11th May 2023 9:20am)
  • That sounds really cool. You've had a far more interesting life than me 🤣 by weegmack (Thu 11th May 2023 1:45pm)
  • I guess so. I used to have a busier, fulfilling life. But alas, I am chronically unwell with no answers as to why! So I spend way too much time on here 🙃 by weegmack (Fri 12th May 2023 1:05am)
  • I love this! Brilliant. by weegmack (Fri 12th May 2023 7:24pm)
  • West End for me. My favourite walk is round Victoria Park with my aunt (best wummin in the world). by weegmack (Sat 13th May 2023 12:27am)
  • What a gorgeous wee dug ❤️. I'm so glad he's OK. That taxi driver is an absolute gem x by weegmack (Mon 15th May 2023 1:02am)
  • I was just about to say the same! by weegmack (Mon 15th May 2023 1:00am)
  • I did the same. Gave my old dryer to a wee family that wanted it. The dehumidifier is great - so much cheaper and definitely protects the house from damp washing. I live in a new build and it's still a building site, so I can't hang out my washing because it's too dusty outside with all the digging etc. But the dehumidifier is doing a great job. by weegmack (Mon 15th May 2023 1:07am)
  • If you can have your washing drying with the dehumidifier in one room and close the door, it works best. I don't need the heating on just now, but I did over the winter. Though I'd only put the heating on for an hour! That was enough to give the drying a head start and the room stayed warm with the dehumidifier going and the door being closed. by weegmack (Mon 15th May 2023 1:11am)
  • Red Rover, epic hide and seek, clip-clopping around in my mum's high heels, playing on our bikes....summers were the best too by weegmack (Mon 15th May 2023 1:23am)
  • Plenty of good advice here, but don't hang about with this. Mice do not have bladders and literally pee constantly. So clean your surfaces regularly. They can transmit salmonella, so try and deal with this quickly. I had mice in my attic many moons ago. Someone had landscaped their previously overgrown garden and distributed several mice, who all sought refuge in my housing! My kids were very wee at that time, so I wasn't taking chances. I'm afraid I put poison down. But it worked quickly. Mice communicate well with each other. Once they detect the threat of the poison, they normally vacate. I had the joy of dealing with many poisoned mice, rolling around in my driveway while my cats just watched them. Fun times. by weegmack (Tue 16th May 2023 1:15am)
  • 🤣🤣nae luck lol. Ah, the brown v-neck. I had a brown knitted tank top with yellow checked pattern. It was not cool!! by weegmack (Tue 16th May 2023 8:43am)
  • I'm sure it filtered down from my dad, but he typically got my mum to deal with it. He was born in 1943 into very poor circumstances. He often told me he was the only kid at school who had proper shoes. My dad ended up being very successful, but his childhood experience kept him, and us, very grounded. He died in 1997, aged 54. I miss him every day. by weegmack (Tue 16th May 2023 8:47am)
  • Aw thank you. He was a wee bloke with a huge heart. X by weegmack (Tue 16th May 2023 7:55pm)
  • 🤣🤣 how old was he at the time? My mother-in-law used to dress my husband up like a little gentleman. So many blazers. And a crease down the front of his jeans. Then I came on the scene and ruined him lol by weegmack (Wed 17th May 2023 12:49am)
  • Ahhh no!! I feel your pain. Cardigan, shirt, cords - the bane of my young life lol. by weegmack (Wed 17th May 2023 12:47am)
  • I do! My dad's bonus would get me and my sister a new frock, shoes and a cardi. And long white socks 🫣 by weegmack (Wed 17th May 2023 12:50am)
  • 🤣🤣🤣 by weegmack (Wed 17th May 2023 9:01am)
  • Poor guy 🤣🤣. by weegmack (Wed 17th May 2023 9:00am)
  • The buses are a fucking nightmare. My daughter's a student & has ADD. She really struggles to get her head around the buses - and it doesn't help when bus drivers are absolute cunts when she asks for help. by weegmack (Thu 18th May 2023 1:05am)
  • I'm so sorry about your dog 😕❤️ by weegmack (Thu 18th May 2023 1:17am)
  • I wish I could take her, but my cat wouldn't tolerate it. She's too territorial. I hope you can get something sorted. Love this sub - so many good folks offering to help xx by weegmack (Fri 19th May 2023 11:27pm)

  • That's what I want to know! by weegmack (Sun 28th May 2023 12:33am)
  • I'd like to know that too. I haven't worked in many years thanks to due debilitating chronic illness (not on any benefits either because I'm as yet undiagnosed). So am I unworthy of the NHS?? by weegmack (Mon 29th May 2023 1:29am)
  • SO MANY people have the new Land-rover Defender. How do they afford it?? by weegmack (Mon 29th May 2023 10:08pm)
  • I'll remember him in my prayers 😅. I'd actually love a new defender, but I'd have to live in it lol by weegmack (Mon 29th May 2023 10:24pm)
  • Thank you - I'll get onto this. X by weegmack (Mon 29th May 2023 11:18pm)
  • Thanks so much for this - really helpful! by weegmack (Mon 29th May 2023 11:18pm)
  • I was honestly so annoyed at the paramedics- but I guess they're under a lot of pressure. by weegmack (Mon 29th May 2023 11:18pm)
  • He really is a poor soul. I've met him a few times, in his better moments, and he's friendly (but I can tell he's really lonely). He's just in a horrible cycle of substance abuse and poor health 😢 by weegmack (Mon 29th May 2023 11:20pm)
  • Great idea - thank you! by weegmack (Mon 29th May 2023 11:48pm)
  • It's a tough situation I know. She's called the polis a few times - they're sick of him an aw! by weegmack (Mon 29th May 2023 11:47pm)
  • I get it - I'm really worried he's going to go for her too. 😔 by weegmack (Tue 30th May 2023 12:14am)
  • Brilliant photos! If only we had this weather all the time by weegmack (Tue 30th May 2023 12:18am)
  • I'm so sorry you went through that. It's really distressing. Thanks for your advice- it's really helpful and I agree she needs to focus on her own safety xx by weegmack (Tue 30th May 2023 12:16am)
  • She's doing ok thanks. The other neighbours are fucking sick of him. Police have been out countless times too 🙄 by weegmack (Tue 30th May 2023 9:23am)
  • Ffs 😒. Nobody seems to ever do anything about this guy. The police are often called out but do nothing. She's spoken to the housing association this morning and they're "looking into it". But I'm pretty sure the other neighbours have raised this with the housing association - so I'm not holding my breath! by weegmack (Tue 30th May 2023 9:26am)
  • He is taking the piss! The neighbours never let him in. Unfortunately, my daughter didn't tell me how bad this was until recently- she'd been letting him in quite a lot. by weegmack (Tue 30th May 2023 9:33am)
  • Yep - he's totally out of control just now. He'd been quiet for 2 months for some reason. I'm trying to find a way of getting hold of the key worker. by weegmack (Tue 30th May 2023 9:30am)
  • Ok so I don't just let her go near him. When she called for an ambulance, she was coming back from Morrisons and he was at the close door. Up until then, she has stayed away. But she was alarmed by the state of him, went into her own flat, and called for an ambulance from there. The paramedics were the ones who insisted she come back down the stairs, by which point he was in his flat and wouldn't come out. We know very little about his history. I'm also not too trusting. When she moved in last year, I told her to stay away from him. It's more the fact that he's causing problems during the night and early hours and she's getting frustrated and scared. He batters the close door and shouts and screams But she never leaves her flat at those times. As I've said, the only time she's been near him was when she came back with her shopping and he was at the close door. She often calls the police, but they don't do anything. That's why I posted on here for advice. by weegmack (Tue 30th May 2023 10:41am)
  • It's not - near the Tesco on Dumbarton Rd by weegmack (Tue 30th May 2023 7:47pm)
  • Thank you ❤️. by weegmack (Tue 30th May 2023 7:46pm)
  • Thank you xx by weegmack (Tue 30th May 2023 7:45pm)
  • Thank you ❤️. I've already told her that he is absolutely not her responsibility. And I will keep telling her that. I think, on this occasion, he looked so unwell she called the ambulance before thinking much about it. I've brought her home just now - and I've posted a wee update. I'm so sorry you went through that 😔 by weegmack (Tue 30th May 2023 8:08pm)
  • I'm amazed he's still standing tbh... by weegmack (Tue 30th May 2023 8:52pm)
  • He really needs to be in a treatment centre - he is a walking disaster and he definitely can't look after himself by weegmack (Tue 30th May 2023 8:55pm)
  • Well done for facing up to that and turning it around! Xx by weegmack (Tue 30th May 2023 9:01pm)
  • Thanks so much. I guess it's just so hard to watch someone destroy themselves 😕. He is well known to the polis...nothing ever seems to get done. by weegmack (Tue 30th May 2023 9:00pm)
  • That's awful! What's wrong with it? by weegmack (Tue 30th May 2023 9:07pm)
  • I did wonder. He's been back a couple of weeks, and it's all kicked off again. While he was away, there was a padlock on his door and I thought he'd been evicted. But he came back.... by weegmack (Tue 30th May 2023 9:06pm)
  • I think that's really brave xx by weegmack (Tue 30th May 2023 11:39pm)
  • That makes a lot of sense. I kinda feel the way folk like him are handled is just too complicated and layered. Too many people and agencies involved, yet no actual solutions by weegmack (Tue 30th May 2023 11:38pm)
  • It's so sad that it's like this. It clearly isn't working! by weegmack (Wed 31st May 2023 12:04am)

  • I can't add anymore to the advice you've been given, but I'm so, so sorry you're going through this. She's an absolute cunt. People like her just disgust me. X by weegmack (Wed 14th Jun 2023 7:12pm)
  • I know. Ffs some people are fucking disgusting by weegmack (Wed 14th Jun 2023 7:16pm)
  • Couldn't agree more! What's happening in the States is terrifying - it's like they're going back in time. Worries me.... by weegmack (Wed 14th Jun 2023 11:57pm)
  • There was an interesting fart smell coming out from the drains in Partick during the downpour.... by weegmack (Fri 16th Jun 2023 7:35pm)
  • So true. There was a walk going past my daughter's flat in Partick last Saturday - I've never seen so many miserable faces in my life! They all looked like they had a face of a skelpit arse by weegmack (Sat 17th Jun 2023 12:40pm)
  • Hey OP. I'm so sorry you're feeling so awful. Everyone thinks it's so much easier to make friends when you're young- but that's often not the case,is it? You very much deserve to get some help and it would be great if you could muster up the energy to see your GP. The sooner, the better. You sound like you're in a really bad place - I've been there and I know how hard it is to ask for help. Night shifts are horrible- they disrupt your sleep pattern and can really affect mental health. Are you in a position to ask for day shifts? A lot of students have gone home for the summer - did you have any friends from your course? Is there maybe one person you could message to say hi? Please take one day at a time. Starting with a call to your GP in the morning. A good next step is to set yourself one goal for this week - like taking a 10 minute walk three times this week; you can increase that to more days over the coming weeks. If you can try to do little things each week, it'll hopefully help you to feel a bit stronger. Xx by weegmack (Sun 18th Jun 2023 5:40pm)
  • Sorry you're having such a terrible time, OP. I hope you'll get home very soon. X by weegmack (Wed 21st Jun 2023 8:01pm)
  • I'm so sorry for your loss. Take your time grieving - and remember that everyone grieves differently. Please be kind to yourself. I'm sending you a gentle, virtual hug ❤️ by weegmack (Mon 26th Jun 2023 7:51pm)
  • So my daughter has had gut problems most of her life and could never have a chippy. Things have improved for her in the last couple of years, and last summer, having just left home, she went into a chippy on Dumbarton Rd. Told the guy this was her first ever chippy (aged 20) and he said "aw hen! Well in that case, this one's for free". She was so chuffed. by weegmack (Tue 27th Jun 2023 1:35am)
  • Larkhall, right? by weegmack (Sat 1st Jul 2023 4:38pm)
  • I'm in Stonehouse so I've heard all about it! My daughter lives in Larkhall and she's no idea how she's going to get to work... by weegmack (Sat 1st Jul 2023 4:42pm)
  • I feel absolutely sick for them- can't bear it by weegmack (Sun 2nd Jul 2023 6:42pm)
  • Damn right this is cruelty. Please call SSPCA. X by weegmack (Sun 2nd Jul 2023 6:41pm)
  • I know 😞. I never go to zoos. So much animal cruelty around the world by weegmack (Sun 2nd Jul 2023 8:22pm)

  • My cat goes outdoors and only brings me leaves and sticks.... by weegmack (Thu 6th Jul 2023 12:25am)
  • I used to have a cat who ate spiders! She would eat the bodies and leave the legs.... by weegmack (Fri 7th Jul 2023 1:01am)
  • Spot on. It's a total mess and nothing ever seems to be done about it. I'm terrified of those dogs - past a guy with one of them in Partick recently. Big guy, but was being literally dragged along by his giant dug. Looked to me like an American Bulldog/Pitbull cross. There is absolutely no way that he'd have been able to control or stop this beast if it had decided to go for something/someone. by weegmack (Fri 7th Jul 2023 1:07am)
  • That's so awful. I'm only 4'11" - that dog could easily take me out!! Owner sounds like a prized cunt.... by weegmack (Fri 7th Jul 2023 1:13am)
  • It freaked me out too! The same cat brought me a bee once on a bit of moss (I saved the bee). by weegmack (Sat 8th Jul 2023 12:53am)
  • I've used Webuybooks a lot and I find them pretty good. I've never got more than £20, but that's better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick. by weegmack (Sun 9th Jul 2023 12:34am)
  • Welcome! I hope you enjoy it here x by weegmack (Sun 9th Jul 2023 1:38pm)
  • Go for it. Please never let anyone make you believe that you're not capable. If you're determined, you'll do it! Take all the help and support you can get at college. Good luck x by weegmack (Wed 12th Jul 2023 1:07am)
  • I get the impression that standing looking out the window is deemed nosey these days. I'm in the house a lot, due to illness, and I sometimes just stand by an open window to watch the world go by. But there's the odd neighbour who just stares back 🤔 by weegmack (Wed 12th Jul 2023 9:08am)
  • Maybe she's hiding something.... by weegmack (Wed 12th Jul 2023 9:25am)
  • Or I could give them the old hill walkers nod 🤣 by weegmack (Wed 12th Jul 2023 10:32am)
  • What's she shouted at you for before? Certainly does sound like an old cow.... by weegmack (Sat 15th Jul 2023 12:51am)
  • Ffs that's grim by weegmack (Sat 15th Jul 2023 1:02am)
  • Mmmmm - yummy!! The government needs to deploy more herons to deal with the rat problem in Glasgow. by weegmack (Sat 15th Jul 2023 1:00am)
  • Definitely an old cow 🙄. by weegmack (Sat 15th Jul 2023 9:13am)
  • I love this! You're so talented. by weegmack (Thu 20th Jul 2023 11:36pm)
  • They drive me fucking crazy. I nearly collided with one the other day in Partick. And they weave in and out of the traffic on Dumbarton Road too by weegmack (Sat 22nd Jul 2023 6:45pm)
  • E.coli 0157 is just not worth the risk. Years ago, a kid in my daughter's class in primary school got E.coli 0157 at a large family bbq. Most of the family went down with it, and they were extremely ill. We had infection control people coming into the town, the school - it was scary. Kid was off school for 4 months. So, only very well-done burgers for me! by weegmack (Sun 23rd Jul 2023 12:08am)
  • I have always seemed to attract argumentative old drunks. Especially on the train. I can handle a bit of banter, but they inevitably become total cunts. When I stop talking to them I get "Oh it's like that, is it?! Am ah no good enough fur ye?!" Ffs by weegmack (Sun 23rd Jul 2023 12:17am)
  • They all recovered thankfully. It was really awful at the time by weegmack (Sun 23rd Jul 2023 12:34am)
  • My dad's favourite: I'll make ye laugh on the other side of yer face. Never understood that, but I didn't hang about to find out! by weegmack (Thu 27th Jul 2023 8:36am)
  • Thankfully he never managed to do that because I ran too fast! My mum was more successful- she could cuff you in the lug before you knew what was happening. by weegmack (Thu 27th Jul 2023 11:50am)
  • There's so much negativity on this sub 🙄. The grass is always greener, am I right? I'm sure contemplating such a big move has not been an easy choice for you. And I'm sure you have your own personal reasons for that too. As a mum, I guess I'd just be a bit concerned for your kids - but sometimes we just have to make big decisions and work through them as a family unit. I don't think many countries are having an easy time of it since the pandemic and I don't have faith in any world governments to be honest these days. Life is what you make of it, OP. Good luck x by weegmack (Sun 30th Jul 2023 12:54am)
  • 😊 you're welcome. I really hope things work out for you. X by weegmack (Sun 30th Jul 2023 12:59am)
  • It's awful. My daughter has had a fruit fly infestation (Partick). I got a few rolls of fly paper and fruit fly traps, which have helped. But principally, the council need to get their finger out! by weegmack (Wed 2nd Aug 2023 1:04am)
  • Fellow Christian here. I share your disgust. I'll never understand this belief that cancer is because of sin. I lost my dad to it. And several family members- one of whom was the most devout Christian I've ever known. These people are so fuelled by the need to evangelise that they lose all perspective. They just hurt people and it makes me sick. by weegmack (Sun 6th Aug 2023 12:49am)
  • Awful. Genuinely, I'd have had words with that guy. What a terrible person by weegmack (Sun 6th Aug 2023 12:50am)
  • Aw thank you. It was 26 years ago, two days before my wedding! A very difficult time. X by weegmack (Sun 6th Aug 2023 10:23pm)
  • If you could afford private ADHD Diagnosis, have a look at Diverse Diagnostics. My daughter (21) went through them and so did I. I spoke with my GP beforehand and the GP told me I'd be waiting a VERY long time on the NHS - and, at 48, unlikely to even be entertained by them. I'm so sorry you're having such a rough time, OP. • It's a very, very tough question. Something I grapple with often. I've asked many fellow Christians about the subject of suffering, and nobody can give me an answer. My dad died two days before my wedding, and that has had a profound and lasting effect on my faith and my outlook on life. I'm so sorry your friend went through that x by weegmack (Tue 8th Aug 2023 11:36pm)
  • So I'm in NHS Lanarkshire. They do not have a Mental Health service. Consequently they pass the buck to NHS GG&C, or NHS Stirling. Utterly ridiculous. I am 48 and was told I would never be considered for an adult ADHD assessment, because I have "managed this far to live life, raise children and get up everyday". Never mind that I've struggled mentally for as long as I can remember and have had numerous breakdowns and suicide ideation. I'm very fortunate that I got my diagnosis privately. Mental health services were crap before the pandemic and they're worse now by weegmack (Tue 8th Aug 2023 11:44pm)
  • Who did you go with? I went with Diverse Diagnostics x by weegmack (Tue 8th Aug 2023 11:45pm)
  • Diverse Diagnostics are really good. Most of their psychiatrists are ex-NHS. They diagnosed me and my daughter. Wishing you the best, my friend. It's definitely worth doing. Feel free to PM me if you need support! X by weegmack (Tue 8th Aug 2023 11:50pm)
  • I'm wondering if things have changed since the pandemic...xx by weegmack (Wed 9th Aug 2023 12:44am)
  • I hope so too. Xx by weegmack (Wed 9th Aug 2023 12:45am)
  • Thank you. It was 26 years ago, but I have never really got over it. A lot of Christians just come out with platitudes and tired old "explanations", when absolutely none of us really know why anything happens. I consider myself a Christian, but I am very Liberal and very honest. I don't have answers and I would never try to explain away anyone's hurt with a trite old saying or a bible verse. I worry about this rise in right wing, conservative Christian groups who are dragging us all back to the 19th Century. And this guy who is preaching in the street has lost touch with reality!! by weegmack (Wed 9th Aug 2023 1:13am)
  • I really hope you don't have to wait too long. I hate that nobody seems to know what the hell is going on!! by weegmack (Wed 9th Aug 2023 4:07pm)
  • Couldn't agree more! by weegmack (Wed 9th Aug 2023 4:05pm)

  • I'm sceptical about anything GPs say! by weegmack (Wed 9th Aug 2023 4:10pm)
  • That's terrible 😕. I can't afford to do medication privately - I got my diagnosis, but that's as far as I've got. I have the worst guts known to man and tolerate very few meds. So I guess I'm going to have to try other things, like gin (kidding) by weegmack (Wed 9th Aug 2023 4:10pm)
  • What a gorgeous, fluffy boi!! I wanna meet this dog! by weegmack (Wed 23rd Aug 2023 12:40am)
  • I really hope your wee dog is alright? Please don't worry about the bus - much worse things happen on the bus. Take care x by weegmack (Thu 24th Aug 2023 9:45pm)
  • I've just been diagnosed with ADHD at 48! Ashamed to admit that I don't know what Discord is... by weegmack (Fri 25th Aug 2023 12:30am)
  • Also worth saying that covid also attacks the gut too, especially if you are already someone with gut problems. I am one of said people and covid (first strain) had me so ill, I thought I wouldn't make it. I now have long covid of the gut, can only eat a calorie-defecit, low residue diet and it's not fun. I'm glad I didn't encounter those people because I'd have wanted to boot their arses by weegmack (Fri 25th Aug 2023 3:50pm)
  • My husband worked for them in Newton Mearns (yeah, I know) when he was a student. It totally was slave labour - £2 an hour in 1990-1994. His manager was a woman with the classic "duck's arse" hairdo. by weegmack (Thu 31st Aug 2023 9:28pm)

  • They all need a swift boot up the arse and a few nights in a piss-ridden jail cell. by weegmack (Mon 11th Sep 2023 12:03am)
  • The bus driver sounded exceptionally unhelpful in this case. Left a 17 year old with no form of ID or means to get to college. She was essentially a shitbag. What's your excuse for her? by weegmack (Thu 14th Sep 2023 1:38am)
  • Yeah, i can understand that. But there's always the chance that some kid could be vulnerable or not a prick. My daughter has ADHD and has had NOTHING but grumpy, shitty attitudes from bus drivers. She's easily flustered and has been shouted at by several drivers for simply asking if she's on the right bus. My BIL is a nurse and takes abuse everyday but still manages to be kind. by weegmack (Thu 14th Sep 2023 2:15am)
  • This is really good advice. I'd honestly suggest you tell your ex to sleep on the sofa. He broke it off, so he gets the sofa. I'm so sorry this has happened to you. I think the best way forward is to try and create some personal boundaries, as BigBird has advised. And sell. I understand selling may take some time, but you need to move forward xx by weegmack (Sun 24th Sep 2023 8:37pm)
  • I'd recommend Vinted also - I make tote bags, Purses and bunting and I re-purpose old jeans and dresses a lot. Wide-legged jeans and larger sized ladies dresses in good fabric are great. Vintage style dresses (LindyBop for example) are brilliant, because they have full skirts with loads of fabric. I also buy online at Pound Fabrics, Pound-A-Metre and Fabric Love. • Oh boy, that's crappy 😒. Not at all acceptable for £650 by weegmack (Fri 6th Oct 2023 1:23am)
  • Best thing to do is have lots of layered outfits. Thermals are great and if you can invest in an insulated, but waterproof jacket, that would help. Waterproof being the essential thing! Hat and gloves too. Indoors- hot water bottle, weighted blanket (look online at Kuddly) and go to Primark and get an oodie. Warm socks and slippers too. You could also get an electric blanket for your bed too. The damp is the worst part of our weather 😒 by weegmack (Thu 12th Oct 2023 1:15am)

  • I am so sorry this has happened to you and so angry on your behalf. Unfortunately, you've had a run-in with some little shits who just don't have the maturity to be accepting of anything remotely different from them. It's very likely that their parents have no clue where they are and certainly aren't teaching them tolerance and acceptance. You absolutely should not have to be subjected to this, and I would say it's not the norm in Glasgow. As a mum of LBGTQ+ kids, I know how hard this is. But, as I tell them, there's always going to be some sad little individual who wants to discriminate. It's a sad fact of life. What's most important, is that you don't let little dicks like them get to you. Easier said than done, but that wee prick wanted a reaction out of you to make himself look good.... I think it's worth contacting Princes Square about what's happened. Keep your head up and live your life, and please accept a hug from a wee Glasgow mum! X by weegmack (Wed 29th Nov 2023 12:44am)
  • I totally get it- it's shocking that we have to consider that primary school kids could be carrying weapons! I'm only 4'11" and often feel really intimidated by groups of kids, because I never know if they're going to turn violent! That's great the police have actually been helpful- it's possible they know who the kids are. by weegmack (Wed 29th Nov 2023 12:52am)
  • I can't offer any further advice, but please accept a hug from me. I'm so sorry you're facing such tough times. X by weegmack (Tue 5th Dec 2023 12:58am)
