Someone pulled out the fire escape by boys they were fighting with. Graffiti Man mid 30s easily, back in about 07 who swore he was the best emcee to Grace Glasgow and was on his way to a fight with a guy off bebo who boasted he was well better. A guy managing to blag his way onto a bus using a milky bar wrapper turned inside out was pure genius. I used to live there. It's a great area. Quite a bit of local crime going on etc but the area isn't a shithole. Most of it will pass you by and I don't see you getting accosted in the st. Look I totally understand why this could be frustrating for your parents.. the problem is though, that this charity and these children do need a kind, safe space to be in. A lot of residential, secure and children's homes move into these areas to give the kids a sense of normality. The lockdown will be exacerbating the situation. My bet is that during the day, they would normally take the kids to the park etc but with not being allowed on any of the play areas etc at the moment, it becomes a risk to everyone and also a huge issue to try and explain to the kids why they can't use them. My advice would be speak with them quietly and friendly. Ask if there's anything they can do or you can do even. I know it's not likely to achieve much but sometimes approaching it this way will go a lot further than you would think. You can't force them to move, it's their home as well now. And because the disabled kids make noise doesn't mean anyone should be allowed a petition to kick them out of their home. I mean where is it that you imagine these abused and disabled children should go? Some sort of facility ? Or is it that you don't care so long as it's not in your back garden and out of sight out of mind. It's the tunnels below the park. That tunnel runs from the botanics to the back of kelvinbridge. In an old tunnel section next to what used to be the big blue years ago. The one that leads to the exhibition centre can be accessed from underneath the bridge on woodlands road, near kelvingrove , across the road from the coffee shop offshore. Underneath the stairs that lead down as if you were walking to the underground. That entrance is the tunnel. Now, be aware , I believe at some point this tunnel splits into a "Y" shape. Stick to the left side. Eventually you will come up to a big iron gate you can't open. You'll need to go back some and climb a wire holder which looks like a ladder but isn't and is attached to the wall. You'll know it because you'll have passed the big lake, with things to stand on to get across. The old area with couches, candles and the big cage / arena thing. Then eventually youll come out of a tunnel. The government can provide fiscal stimulus to the economy when required so don't act like its more important than people's lives. It's a financial system we have invented and it is constantly evolving. It can be tweaked whenever the powers that be require it. People don't starve when they lose their jobs the majority of the time in glasgow. There's literally food banks operating every single day and has been throughout this crisis and before. I know, I regularly donate food there. Your exactly right. It is not the choice on offer. It's the same choice but exacerbated. It's not only my granny, but yours, and half of this subreddits parents. Young people are still at risk and even though unlikely to die themselves. Still spread it exactly the same. I gather you like a bit of debate from your reply. First you say I might have had an argument is my granny's life not worth 1 job? Second, let's take a step back. We have on one hand a killer virus. Spreading rampant. We have on the other a collapsing economy albeit very slowly and able to be rescued without a doubt. Now. It isn't a choice between one or the other. And choosing either directly affects the other. Let's say we keep things open. The spread will go on and on and the inevitable full lockdown will be x10 longer and ultimately worse for the economy in the long run. Let's say we close things. The spread will cease. There will be damage to the economy but not substantially worse than there is now, and much less than if we allow the virus to gain a foothold again before ultimately having to lockdown. What's the moral reason for keeping the pubs open? People's jobs? The government should be providing more assistance than they are for those affected. And I believe it will be so widespread hardship wise that eventually they'll have to step their game up about 20 notches and really assist people. The potential effects here for remaining open and ludacris. It isn't just pubs and shops. People will relax their stance because they think its all gone away and will simply spread it round again. I am not a qualified psychologist either. I think your friend has a very valid point which I hadn't thought about. It certainly is a different way of socialising and it would indeed force people to have a similar conversation. Which is more akin to a meeting than social gatherings. I have seen however, quizzes, jeopardy or wheel of. Fortune type games which do indeed work the same way as they would in person. However. People are still allowed to exercise together. I. E ride bikes or go for a run, play football etc. So people can get out and have other interactions. Depends . You've got to remember that firstly they had no idea if someone else witnessed it, if they were caught on a dash cam , cctv etc. You usually get 24hrs to report an accident . Not sure if that still applies if someone dies. So if they were drunk for example they could sober up before handing themselves in which would significantly lessen the charges. We had stashes of bottles and weapons and would wheel bins of bottles to the top of a hill and try lure them to the bottom. Always remember getting chased up buchanan Street by a team of about 20 of them, me and 3 lads. They had samurai swords, lockbacks the lot wide out and open. I wasn't expelled, just told I didn't need to return if I didn't want to. The local authority failed me. Didn't put anything else in place, lied to the government / council and never reported me as not attending school so I just fell through the cracks, completely neglecting their duty of care. My family tried to get me into another school semi locally which was full, and that was it. I left school at 14. No standard grades and the local authority under the impression I was attending. What my school did was illegal. Luckily I pulled myself up by my own bootstraps. Joined the military, came out and transitioned into financial services which I am now relatively successful in and have many years skin in the game. Many others like me probably weren't as lucky. There are very very very few situations where a pupil *repeatedly* assaults a teacher. Very few. Because whilst expulsion may not be so common, for hitting teachers it's still pretty standard as a punishment. Also, at the very least the student is barred from that particular class amongst other punishments. They don't just get to keep going to the class as if nothing happened. In fact OP, I'd be keen to hear if there's any situations you know of of a single pupil repeatedly attacking the same teacher. I highly doubt it. Also, the comparison your drawing isn't relevant. There are some lines of work where assault by customers etc is not the Norm and needs immediately resolved and punished and others where when working with certain people its a common occurrence. If you asked a care worker, a mental health nurse, a policeman, a soldier etc if they expected to be assaulted the answer would be yes. I'd argue that a teacher sits somewhere in between the two extremes. They don't have control over who they teach initially until an incident occurs and they can refuse to have a particular student in their class . They have to deal with the public, sure, but they aren't a shop that can just ban someone from entering. So my point being that given they are semi forced to work with kids, some of whom maybe challenged in different ways, some of whom maybe little shits etc and they can't control who they teach it's a hazard of the occupation even though in an ideal world it shouldn't be. Kids whether bad or well behaved have a right to an education in this country its a civil and legal right. So, teachers cannot just say without an incident occurring I'm not teaching them. Also, by not going into work, they are not teaching any of the other 30 students in their class they have a duty of care over. I think everyone's coming down a bit hard on OP here. He's obviously feeling frustrated at the current state of affairs which given the circumstances, isn't actually unreasonable. He's right. Most people do not have enough to live on, and it's depressing to say that a lot of people are essentially working 5 out of 7 days most of our lives to be able to put the heating on and not sleep outside. Now I'm maybe using the worst off as an example here, but this scales as people earn more too. For example someone who earned 35k+ a few years ago, in Glasgow would be comfortable. With bills, goods and food etc all at record highs, that 35k now is worth a lot less. Ops example of what they have as expenses is being generous. It's not assuming they have a car, any debt at all, kids or dependants etc. It's entirely possible to take OPs heating and food numbers and essentially double them for a partner and child. You also lose certain benefits like a single person discount on council tax in a couple so things cost more. We shouldn't have to be earning far above the average salary to be able to drive and buy the odd few things here and there when we want them, let alone be able to save for a mortgage or a holiday or whatever else we want.
