  • Oro pizza is good however I was in about a month ago, half the staff weren’t wearing masks (when handling food), when I asked where the track and trace QR code was, they laughed at me and said I didn’t need one (as someone who knows people who have died from covid, bit insensitive) and two full grown male staff members were shouting at a young female waitress in plain view of customers. They won’t be getting my money again. I recommend my childhood favourite, Armando’s in Merrylee! by princess_peachfuzz69 (Wed 7th Jul 2021 10:15am)

  • The first time foxes moved in under my decking I was absolutely convinced I was listening to a brutal murder. Happened a few nights in a row before I realised they were just having a wee shag. Loud bastards. by princess_peachfuzz69 (Fri 16th Jul 2021 11:32am)
  • There’s a few that always nest near me and every year they leave their big fat baby on the roof and it greets it’s wee fuckin face off for HOURS until they come back with food. I was eyeing it up earlier weighing up what chance I’d have of getting it with my wee souvenir slingshot. by princess_peachfuzz69 (Sun 18th Jul 2021 11:56pm)
  • I would offer to meet you but I’m currently locked in GU library dungeon for the foreseeable future. If you’re southside, on a nice day there’s always loads of people at the wee arena/band stand in Queen’s Park. Could grab some beers and head round, everyone is always friendly. Equally, if you don’t fancy drinking there will be a lot of people not drinking too. There’s always some people on their own too if you don’t fancy approaching a big crowd. by princess_peachfuzz69 (Mon 19th Jul 2021 6:51pm)
  • Absolutely not! I find it extremely weird to eat it with cutlery unless you’re like me and need to eat the meat first (with cutlery) then pick the bun up with your hands afterwards. Don’t ask me why I do this, I don’t know either. by princess_peachfuzz69 (Wed 21st Jul 2021 9:33pm)

  • PSE!!! How could I forget - personal and social development was it? That class was wild! I remember the day we were getting taught how to use condoms and our guidy (female) asked one of the bammier girls if she could put the condom on the dildo with her mouth, wtffffff. Would never be allowed these days by princess_peachfuzz69 (Tue 27th Jul 2021 10:19pm)
  • I was also in East Ren, I think they’d made the safety videos a bit more PG by the time I got there (I’ll be 30 next year). But I do remember the birthing video and the bull eye dissection video which were famous when you were in 1st year. Kids fainted 😂 by princess_peachfuzz69 (Tue 27th Jul 2021 10:16pm)
  • Hahaha to be fair, I only remember the sexual stuff so personal and sexual education fits better. Aye we *had* to blow them up too. Always remember there was a clinic near us and millions of us used to always go on a Thursday after school and it was called ‘jonny Thursdays’ cause they’d give out HUNNERS of free condoms, any flavour you wanted 😂 those were the days by princess_peachfuzz69 (Tue 27th Jul 2021 10:32pm)
  • I can’t even imagine what would’ve happened if my year had seen the gruesome safety videos. I always thought the safety videos we got made the taboo subject sound … not as serious as it was. As gruesome as they were I think they should’ve been kept as it would maybe have deterred me and probably others from partaking in said activities when I was a wee fanny by princess_peachfuzz69 (Wed 28th Jul 2021 1:23am)
  • I don’t know why UoG students get so hung up on the west end, flat prices are a joke. I study here and live in shawlands. You can look elsewhere and get something much more liveable and cheaper and with the public transport be at the uni in the same amount of time it’ll take you to walk. by princess_peachfuzz69 (Tue 3rd Aug 2021 1:36am)
  • Yeah, you’d need a shop for everything or you just wouldn’t get it. Some photos would be amazing if you can when you have time. I know they have all this stuff in the Mitchell library but i don’t think it’s been open? Cheers in advance by princess_peachfuzz69 (Wed 4th Aug 2021 10:47pm)
  • Thanks! I don’t have Facebook to check out their page so this is helpful by princess_peachfuzz69 (Wed 4th Aug 2021 11:16pm)
  • ‘The village of Crossmyloof’ 😂. This is crackin, I’ll get a wee read tonight. Many thanks! by princess_peachfuzz69 (Wed 4th Aug 2021 11:15pm)
  • Thanks very much for this! It wasn’t really any in particular. Was driving down great western road and just thought back in the day there couldn’t have been this many pubs because there probably wasn’t as much variety then. Also have noticed in the past, some places have really old signs above the shop saying ‘tobacconist’ etc which I always thought was pretty cool. The signs look original but no idea if they are or not. If I see any that catch my eye tomorrow, I’ll give you a shout by princess_peachfuzz69 (Wed 4th Aug 2021 11:49pm)
  • Nice! I’m a student at UofG so might be able to access too. How do you go about getting onto it? by princess_peachfuzz69 (Thu 5th Aug 2021 10:21am)

  • I had the same experience here when going into get my first snake. The guy just wasn’t a people person at all. I have a way of chatting to people and he eventually warmed up but I didn’t get great vibes and we decided to shop around and didn’t buy from there in the end for this reason. by princess_peachfuzz69 (Sat 21st Aug 2021 11:39pm)
  • We’ve got two royals from Dragon Aquatics in Paisley. I can’t recommend Matthew enough, he’s so helpful and knowledgeable and really patient with you when answering questions without making you feel like an idiot. by princess_peachfuzz69 (Sat 21st Aug 2021 11:37pm)
  • They’re always over Shawlands late at night and the sound bounces off all the tenements and it’s loud AF. Always just assumed it’s police helicopters. by princess_peachfuzz69 (Wed 25th Aug 2021 1:41pm)
  • I work in a hospital so I’m very pro-testing and pro-isolation, I wouldn’t put others at risk by not testing or not completing the isolation period. As it wasn’t a package holiday there was limited guidance and wanted to check. Thanks. by princess_peachfuzz69 (Sat 28th Aug 2021 3:15pm)
  • Yeah we weren’t going to go anywhere but my partner won tickets for a pretty cool once in a lifetime event and we’ve been tempted out of Glasgow for the first time since shit hit the fan. Luckily I was wanting to take this week off anyway to regroup and rest so it’ll very much be eating and napping as not too fussed about seeing London as I’ve done it all before so hopefully limits any covid exposure a little bit. by princess_peachfuzz69 (Sat 28th Aug 2021 3:20pm)
  • I’ll look into insurance, thanks! by princess_peachfuzz69 (Sat 28th Aug 2021 11:29pm)
  • Honestly fuck this post. I understand why you posted it and I’m terrified of them too. But fuck this, I’m scarred and scared. by princess_peachfuzz69 (Mon 30th Aug 2021 3:43pm)
  • I think this is a good example of why police shouldn’t carry guns. The guy has been apprehended without lethal force, probably has some bruises but I think it’s more important he gets the psychological help he needs instead of killing him. This way no one dies and those police officers can go home with a calm conscience tonight. by princess_peachfuzz69 (Thu 2nd Sep 2021 9:00am)
  • My dog once ferociously humoed Billy Boyd’s dog in Glasgow Green once. I was mortified. Luckily he was as lovely as can be. Good guy, bad dog! by princess_peachfuzz69 (Wed 8th Sep 2021 9:33pm)
  • Met a fair few as I’ve worked in the hospitality scene for years. Michele Mone - absolute CUNT. Used to come into the coffee shop I worked at, would snap her fingers at the staff (I refused to serve her at all). She also used to jump to the front of the queue and say she was busy and demanded to be served first. You and everyone else hen, you’re time isn’t any more valuable than others. She’d also sit and huff and puff whilst waiting on her coffee until someone would ask what was wrong and then she’d say the press and paparazzi were out of control whilst we’d all peer about looking ‘for the paps’. Tam from Still Game (Marc Cox) - bad guy. Used to be a demanding wee prick and not very nice to the staff but he gave us all tickets to the shows at the Hydro so I suppose he redeemed himself. Ford Kiernan - Seeing lots of bad guy reports about him on here but once upon a time I was doing my driving test and I as doing a three point turn, must’ve been obvious it was my test as the examiner was wearing those high bus vests they were. Completed the three point turn with a car waiting to get by me and none other the FK hangs out the window to give me a big thumbs up. Frankie Boyle, Limmy and Kevin Bridges I’ve served too, nothing much to report other than they were good guys. Didn’t want to hassle them with my shyte chat or asking for pics as they’ve always been out for meals with their family but they’ve always been lovely! by princess_peachfuzz69 (Wed 8th Sep 2021 9:54pm)
  • She is truly the worst human being imaginable! Working in hospo you don’t get phased much by rude people as you learn to not let them ruin your day as they’re the one with the problem and not you and you never know what someone’s going through etc but she is just … I’ve no words to describe her other than ‘cunt’. During her peak cuntishness was when she was some sort of ambassador for the commonwealth games and loads of us emailed in to tell them about her behaviour and she wasn’t suitable to representing Glasgow in any way shape or form, but they didn’t care obviously. The only revenge I could get was that she used to want certain things taken out of her pre-made panini (I can’t remember if it was olives, tomato’s or what) but we weren’t allowed to do that for the customer so we used to make her pick it out herself in front of a whole line of people and hide the napkins so she couldn’t wipe her hands 😂😂 by princess_peachfuzz69 (Thu 9th Sep 2021 1:02pm)
  • Hahahaha! I honestly would never ever let someone do something dirty to someone else’s food but I do know it goes on. I also know NEVER to complain about something and then continue ordering food/drink 😆 by princess_peachfuzz69 (Thu 9th Sep 2021 1:15pm)
  • Nooooo I would love to go to this but I need to be up early tomorrow! Enjoy the gig! by princess_peachfuzz69 (Thu 9th Sep 2021 5:43pm)
  • Unfortunately the only thing that would be in danger if I went are my patients at 6am so I’ll need to behave 😬 by princess_peachfuzz69 (Thu 9th Sep 2021 7:27pm)
  • Thanks for this! It’s a worry as our wee flat is beautiful with private parking, the whole shebang so I’m shitting bricks 😂 both of our uni courses are massively full on too so moving is not ideal by princess_peachfuzz69 (Thu 9th Sep 2021 7:25pm)
  • You can walk in just about any restaurant at the moment and get a job! I recommend choosing a few you’d like to work at and going in between lunch and dinner rush (2.30-4.30). Put on a big smile, show you’re eager to work and make yourself as available as possible. Good luck! by princess_peachfuzz69 (Sat 11th Sep 2021 10:45am)
  • Is this the little curry house in Ashton Lane? I’ve not been there in YEARS! Great shout! by princess_peachfuzz69 (Wed 22nd Sep 2021 10:13am)
  • Definitely will be personally trying all these too. Thanks! by princess_peachfuzz69 (Wed 22nd Sep 2021 10:28am)
  • Me too. I stupidly wasn’t expecting this post to induce severe cravings but here we are browsing menus on my break. by princess_peachfuzz69 (Wed 22nd Sep 2021 12:00pm)
  • Thank you! by princess_peachfuzz69 (Wed 22nd Sep 2021 12:00pm)
  • Yikes. That’s not good. If you give it to the staff directly and tell them to hide it, will they do that? by princess_peachfuzz69 (Wed 22nd Sep 2021 3:08pm)
  • Aw naw fuck that, that’s horrible by princess_peachfuzz69 (Wed 22nd Sep 2021 8:21pm)
  • I reckon this will be due to Brexit. Until recently I worked part time in a Japanese restaurant and the list of stuff we couldn’t get due to problems with importing was ridiculous. Either couldn’t get it full stop or it was RIDICULOUSLY expensive to acquire. We ran out of sesame oil on quite a few occasions. by princess_peachfuzz69 (Sat 25th Sep 2021 6:51pm)
  • Oh dear, someone’s grumpy they didn’t get their free prawn crackers last night. by princess_peachfuzz69 (Sun 26th Sep 2021 10:11am)
  • It’s utter shyte. I’ve been going the last few weeks out of convenience but it’s the most over priced, bland crap I’ve even put past my lips. by princess_peachfuzz69 (Wed 29th Sep 2021 1:55am)
  • For sure! You get much better food for the same price with little independent food stall pop ups that you find in the likes of Dockyard Social. Also, it would add a lot more colour and bustle to that little area. But seriously, I got a coffee (average), a really bland soup and even blander wrap for £10/£11. What kind of student can afford that every day?! They’d make much more money selling things much cheaper as students would be less likely to walk down to Byres Rd and go to Greggs, Subway etc. by princess_peachfuzz69 (Wed 29th Sep 2021 8:29am)
  • I stormed my way into the Fraser building the other day because I heard there was good food in there only to be greeted by a clinically clean environment and an escort out the side entrance 😂😂. Unsure what they’re doing in there now but hopefully the food comes back since it’s convenient for library snacks by princess_peachfuzz69 (Wed 29th Sep 2021 3:41pm)
  • Oh this makes a lot of sense now I think of it by princess_peachfuzz69 (Wed 29th Sep 2021 8:29pm)
  • There is chess societies at Glasgow Uni (west end). Some societies are open to having non-students in them but I’m not sure if this is one of them. It’s always worth finding their contact details to ask! Even if they say no, they might be able to put you in touch with some people who play out with the uni. Edit: https://glasgowpolychess.club I believe this club isn’t directly affiliated with the uni but is very popular. by princess_peachfuzz69 (Thu 30th Sep 2021 9:50am)
  • Probably later just now with the lack of taxis coming to collect them. But yeah, I wouldn’t be expecting a quiet nights sleep on GWR. by princess_peachfuzz69 (Fri 1st Oct 2021 9:10am)
  • Yup, it’s two minutes away from the uni unfortunately. Has been that way since before either of us were born. 3am is probably about the right amount of time for them to have sauntered back to the west end from the cheaper bars in the city centre. That coupled with the pubs on GWR emptying at 1 and no one being able to get a taxi will account for a lot of noise. If you were in the arse end of nowhere and one pub was causing this much noise you’d probably be able to report to the council but you’ve moved into a very social hub with lots of night life so I think you’ll need to suck it up or look for somewhere quieter. by princess_peachfuzz69 (Fri 1st Oct 2021 9:38am)
  • Not too sure, I seen someone else on this thread say it’s 1am and I didn’t question it but maybe not. If there’s places coming out later it’ll just add to OP’s noise anyway. by princess_peachfuzz69 (Fri 1st Oct 2021 1:41pm)
  • I worked in silverburn for the best part of 10 years. There are a few arseholes like anywhere but it generally caters to the wealthier areas of the south side due to the motorway so it’s not bad at all. I was always friendly with the security guards there and they didn’t seem to hate work. by princess_peachfuzz69 (Fri 1st Oct 2021 5:53pm)
  • Sad for you that your only memory of Glasgow was The Garage of all places 😂 by princess_peachfuzz69 (Fri 1st Oct 2021 7:29pm)
  • Pour soul hahahhaa by princess_peachfuzz69 (Fri 1st Oct 2021 7:37pm)
  • I’ve only been a handful of times between the ages of 16-19ish. I never really liked ‘pop music’ clubs and I remember it being very poppy and sticky and smelly. Very similar to ABC. Also remember getting lost as fuck every time. Been back for gigs since were were alright though tbf. by princess_peachfuzz69 (Fri 1st Oct 2021 7:56pm)
  • I’d have been 16 13 years ago now so not far behind you 😂. I think they had the garage 2 which was ‘alternative’. However my pals weren’t into goff music like me unfortunately so we’d take it turn about to go to a ‘pop’ club then catty and finally found happy mediums in buff club and subby. I’m second year of uni just now and been hearing all the youngsters talking about ‘Hive’ and I was like Jesus how old am I that I don’t even know where this is. Turns out it’s the uni nightclub and I didn’t know until I drove past it two days ago. If I make it through my degree without ending up there I’ll be happy as Larry. by princess_peachfuzz69 (Fri 1st Oct 2021 8:02pm)
  • I can’t remember but I don’t think the music was the problem just that that room was always dead. I remember it being tiny too but this might be incorrect. by princess_peachfuzz69 (Sat 2nd Oct 2021 7:48am)
  • I’m near QP so would definitely come along to see that. Not sure about them all being linked but it’s a nice thing to do for others to enjoy so shouldn’t be getting pelters by princess_peachfuzz69 (Sat 2nd Oct 2021 10:10am)
  • I believe you can sign up to a local GP (which you should do anyway tbh) and they can write something which should satisfy the banks request. Good luck! Edit: just realised you’re staying in a hotel so this might not work when your current address is a hotel. It could work when you move into a more permanent residence if you’re still struggling to prove address from any reason. by princess_peachfuzz69 (Mon 4th Oct 2021 12:50pm)
  • If someone’s ‘havin a gaff’, I’d assume they’re quite young? If it’s ‘an empty’ bring booze for you and you alone. If it’s a more mature affair with dinner, I’d bring a cake for dessert (for everyone). If it’s just a bunch of adults gettin on it, they won’t expect anything but maybe find out what the hosts like to drink and bring a bottle of that for their stash if you really want to give them something. by princess_peachfuzz69 (Sat 9th Oct 2021 6:33pm)
  • Now, at 29, it only lasts one night and I can afford a taxi home instead of the bus. Or worse, Monday/Tuesday morning walk of shame. by princess_peachfuzz69 (Sat 9th Oct 2021 6:42pm)

  • Central station does this job but I’ll give it a 3/5. Deducting one star for how busy it is and another because the heat will have you thinking you’re descending into the fiery depths of Mordor by princess_peachfuzz69 (Mon 11th Oct 2021 12:44am)

  • I used to always go to the cinema myself! Don’t have the time to anymore but I loved it - you can’t talk to others in the cinema anyway. Didn’t look like the typical gal to do it either - quite ‘girly’ on the outside but into really geeky stuff on the inside. Get yourself a fine world card and get going, it’s well worth the money. As for eating out alone, I’ve worked in hospitality for many many years and it’s totally normal. No ones judging you. The only people likely to notice are other who are also by themselves. If it’s something you want to do - go for it! Life’s to short to care about what anyone else thinks of you and to prevent yourself from experiencing the simpler pleasures in life. by princess_peachfuzz69 (Tue 12th Oct 2021 2:27am)
  • I also suggest East Kilbride - preferably somewhere near the train station as EK itself is quite big. The train from EK to GLA CC is easy and the rent in EK is very affordable. The flats don’t look lovely from the outside but they’re surprisingly spacious on the inside. Good luck! by princess_peachfuzz69 (Tue 12th Oct 2021 9:02am)

  • It is but tbh I’d rather see kids being fed first and foremost. I’d also rather the homeless had homes before the government started spending money on insulating homes for people that already have them. I think homes should be insulated but there’s a whole load of more pressing problems to deal with first. by princess_peachfuzz69 (Wed 13th Oct 2021 8:11pm)

  • Wee bit younger (nearly 30 now) than you but I was in the same situation - sucked in by the hospitality business for a long time. Convinced myself I wouldn’t get into the uni course I want to do so always put it off. Long story short, couldn’t sleep when I was on holiday one night - decided to apply for an access course at college to get into uni even though I knew it was full but I thought ‘fuck it, I’ll see what the application process is like’. Wake up in the morning to college phoning me asking to come in for an interview, I say no, i can’t, I’m on holiday so went for the interview the day I got back. Did the interview and the told me the course was full but they liked my application. Ended up scoring 97% in entry exam. Fast forward just over 2 years and I’m in second year of my absolute dream course at uni that I talked myself out of for so many years. A guy on my course was 36 and got into the same uni course as me but in a different uni so he’s now 38 years old and in second year. I say just do it! Age is just a number and if you feel like age is a big factor then you’re not getting any younger, so do it now if this is what you really want to do. The worst they will say is no. Just thought I’d share my success story in case it motivated you at all. Good luck and all the best! by princess_peachfuzz69 (Sun 24th Oct 2021 6:11am)
  • I’ve (thankfully) not had any close encounters and I sleep like a log but I do hear them at like 2/3am if I’m still up and think wtf, how are they getting away with this night after night?! It’s just bizarre they’re getting away with it when it’s So. Fucking. Loud. The only solace I get is they’re spending hundreds of pounds to literally just burn it away. by princess_peachfuzz69 (Sun 24th Oct 2021 10:07am)
  • Good for you! I think it’s so much better going when you’re older (not that I can compare it to when I was younger) because you have so much more life experience, you know what you want to do, you’ve not been swayed by parents/school and you care about doing well when you’re older. V happy I chose to wait. by princess_peachfuzz69 (Sun 24th Oct 2021 4:16pm)
  • I do think some of them you can get in with just life experience, some you need an evening access course once a week and some of them are a full time job. I did the SWAP access to medical studies but it was the only way I could get into med with no previous degree by princess_peachfuzz69 (Sun 24th Oct 2021 9:00pm)
  • This was my issue. Just chucked it at uni because my tutor didn’t know the correct words to explain in English first. Kept calling his t-shirt his ‘dress’. by princess_peachfuzz69 (Mon 25th Oct 2021 11:33pm)
  • I work in town and always smell it. Don’t know if I’ve noticed it more than before lockdown but always shocked people have the balls to just walk down the street smoking in the middle of the city centre. by princess_peachfuzz69 (Thu 28th Oct 2021 12:22am)
  • Good point! Hadn’t even considered this! Usually if I’m just out with my partner I’ll always ask if they do get the tips but didn’t do that over the weekend. Makes you think if they’re actually getting it if it’s part of the bill. by princess_peachfuzz69 (Mon 1st Nov 2021 10:17am)
  • I understand putting it on larger tables because they require much more work but again, think it should’ve been mentioned. There’s no mention on of it in their website and lots of angry google reviews about it from couples. Then the dinner last night, there was just 4 of us and we weren’t drinking so the bill was < £100. by princess_peachfuzz69 (Mon 1st Nov 2021 10:23am)
  • I think, yes. However - I had a peek at the google reviews for the place where it was a larger party and there was loads of complaints about it from couples and smaller parties. Couldn’t see the tip thing mentioned on their website either. As I said, I would’ve been happy to pay the 10% but I think it should’ve been mentioned. For dinner last night, it was just 4 of us so not made the ‘large party’ criteria on that one. by princess_peachfuzz69 (Mon 1st Nov 2021 10:21am)
  • Yeah, I’m always happy to tip too! But I think that’s the customers choice and not the establishment’s choice. by princess_peachfuzz69 (Mon 1st Nov 2021 10:27am)
  • Have checked, wasnt mentioned on the menu. Would’ve been happy to pay it anyway but still think it should’ve been mentioned. Wasnt mentioned at the time of booking either as I booked the table and received the confirmation email. Have checked the email and not been mentioned on there either. by princess_peachfuzz69 (Mon 1st Nov 2021 10:25am)
  • Very very true! by princess_peachfuzz69 (Mon 1st Nov 2021 10:32am)
  • Hahaha you know, I considered it but I didn’t want the server getting into trouble in order for me to get my kicks haha. I remember all too well the feeling you get when someone goes ‘can I speak to your manager’. by princess_peachfuzz69 (Mon 1st Nov 2021 10:37am)
  • Honestly, I’m leaning towards this way too. by princess_peachfuzz69 (Mon 1st Nov 2021 10:47am)
  • Yeah, I understand the bigger tables which is fine, I know they’re more work. I would’ve paid the 10% happily. It’s just the we’ve paid more the 20% and none of the staff thought to tell us or ask off we were sure about tipping so much. I guess they could argue that it’s our responsibility to check the bill but who really studies their bill when they’re having a good time? Like yourself, I’ll pay more than 10% if service is great but I still think it should be the consumers choice and not the company’s. I feel like by adding it on, they make that choice for people. And yes - it’s a good point that someone else mentioned on here too, I wonder how much of that the staff actually get if it’s automatically added on! by princess_peachfuzz69 (Mon 1st Nov 2021 10:46am)
  • In one place I worked we did have the 10% for private dining but we had to tell them on the phone at time of booking and it was highlighted in the booking confirmation email. No such thing this time around. by princess_peachfuzz69 (Mon 1st Nov 2021 10:59am)
  • First place (with large party) was independent and second place with the smaller party was a Glasgow chain I believe. Not a massive chain but I know of 3 branches in Glasgow (not sure if they own other places under different names). I’ve already left google reviews saying this! It’s not ‘discretionary’ if they come over with a card machine and whack the full amount on. by princess_peachfuzz69 (Mon 1st Nov 2021 10:56am)
  • With my experience of the trade, if there was a service charge, you had to make guests very aware of it both at the time of booking and in confirmation email. My staff always knew to make the customer aware of it at the time of payment too. Doing all this makes it more acceptable, but not doing so can be deceitful. Also ex-manager. by princess_peachfuzz69 (Mon 1st Nov 2021 11:04am)
  • Would’ve done this had we known about it… by princess_peachfuzz69 (Mon 1st Nov 2021 11:44am)
  • Haha it depends! If it was 2 tables of 8 sound people you’d won the lottery of life. If it was 8 Karen’s you were in for hours upon hours of misery. by princess_peachfuzz69 (Mon 1st Nov 2021 11:43am)
  • This may or may not have been where I was hahahaha by princess_peachfuzz69 (Mon 1st Nov 2021 12:18pm)
  • I 100% agree with you! that being said, me refusing to not tip won’t make their company pay them more, it’ll just make them worry they’ve done something wrong and get paid a shitty wage for a hard job. So, yes, I feel like I ‘have’ to which shouldn’t be the case but I don’t think I should punish them even more. It is a catch 22 and I understand your point but morally, for now, I just can’t not tip full stop. by princess_peachfuzz69 (Mon 1st Nov 2021 12:21pm)
  • Nope. Was intending to tip 10% but ended up tipping over 20% at the first meal and almost the same again on the second meal. So that’s why I’m moaning. by princess_peachfuzz69 (Mon 1st Nov 2021 12:32pm)
  • Will be reading from now on and asking for it to be removed so I can choose my own tip. Also, I was under the impression that the bill was a monetised list of items which were ordered. I don’t remember ordering a ‘discretionary gratuity’. To add further - even if the server had assumed we’d read the bill, they didn’t ask if we wanted to pay it, and immediately charged us the full amount plus gratuity, negating the ‘discretionary’ part. by princess_peachfuzz69 (Mon 1st Nov 2021 12:37pm)
  • Can you show me where I’ve said this? Not said anything of the sort. by princess_peachfuzz69 (Mon 1st Nov 2021 1:04pm)
  • Happy to pay 10%, but the first time I paid over 20% and the second time I almost most over 20% too. So, I’ll ask again. Can you point out where I’ve said I’m happy to support poor business practices of underpay because you’re previous examples didn’t show me this? by princess_peachfuzz69 (Mon 1st Nov 2021 1:29pm)
  • Aye awrite Eminem, take my upvote by princess_peachfuzz69 (Mon 1st Nov 2021 1:39pm)
  • So let me get this clear. As per the first quote - you don’t want people working in hospitality because it rewards the industry? You just want people to cook themselves at home all the time? The second part - I am happy to pay the 10% if it’s my choice. Not happy about paying 10% by choice of the company to bump up staff wages (if that is what’s happened here). I’m happy to ‘reward’ staff for good service. Me not paying them a tip isn’t going to benefit them in any way whatsoever, the company won’t care. They *may* ask why we didn’t tip and assume server did something wrong. by princess_peachfuzz69 (Mon 1st Nov 2021 1:35pm)
  • For sure! That’s why I keep pressing because they clearly can’t prove what they’re trying to say by princess_peachfuzz69 (Mon 1st Nov 2021 1:45pm)
  • Completely fair! It is stupid that hospitality is expected to get tips but retail staff aren’t. You deserve to be paid more money for serving food but not material goods? Doesn’t make sense to me either. Don’t get me wrong, I did really appreciate the tips when I worked there but I wouldn’t take the huff with a table if they didn’t tip because it’s their choice! At the end of the day, they’ve paid for what they’ve bought and shouldn’t have to pay any more and I respect that. by princess_peachfuzz69 (Mon 1st Nov 2021 2:15pm)
  • The last few years we’ve been going up to the flagpole at QP to see them across the city but I suspect those wee fannies will be there this year so I’m personally gonna give it a miss. • Yep, loads of folk have had their own but they’ve always been respectful and as it’s such a vast space it’s easy to keep your distance and enjoy the view. However, don’t trust that no wee fannies will be up launching them at people from the dark this year. by princess_peachfuzz69 (Thu 4th Nov 2021 7:49pm)
  • I think the wee lady was almost felled in the street by princess_peachfuzz69 (Sat 6th Nov 2021 12:43am)
  • I don’t think it’s going to do too much. We seen it with masks - a lot of people didn’t care to wear them, were actually exempt or claimed they were because they weren’t allowed to be questioned and got away with not wearing one. I imagine it’ll be much the same with the vaccine passports ‘my phone isn’t working’, ‘I can’t be vaccinated’ etc etc. I was at a gig a while ago and needed the passport on my phone to get in - they looked at it for less than a second and said it was fine. Wasnt cross checked with photo ID and didn’t look at it long enough to know if it was actually the app or a screenshot I was showing them. The people who are going to be checking this stuff never signed up for this, so I don’t blame them. But there’s too many ways around this for it to be effective PLUS being vaccinated isn’t proof of not having covid so I think it’s just stupid even though I don’t think it’s ‘too far’. by princess_peachfuzz69 (Wed 10th Nov 2021 5:44pm)
  • Yes, like clockwork always this time of year. I’ve not been diagnosed but I really do think it’s SAD which is very common in these parts of the world due to lack of sunlight. Also with it being so common, you’re surrounded by a lot of people going through the same thing which can have a knock on effect. I find getting out the house and keeping busy helps even if it is just going to work/going to the library to study but I definitely feel your pain buddy, I hope you’re ok! by princess_peachfuzz69 (Wed 10th Nov 2021 8:27pm)

  • There’s a place underneath central station bridge, it looks like a USA nails kinda place from outside but they have a hair salon in the back with only black/Afro hairdressers from what I’ve seen. I don’t know if they actually sell any products but I do think they’d be able to point you in the right direction if you went in and asked. It’s just across the road from the stairs that bring you down from the main level to underneath the bridge. by princess_peachfuzz69 (Fri 26th Nov 2021 7:08am)

An hour later, my own shoe smacked me in the face and I got it back. Good times. • I stay on Deanston and parking is a nightmare. Would’ve sold the car if we didn’t have private parking and those in my block of flats rent their space out for a bomb! Loads of cars on the street are all damaged from the amount of idiots that speed down the road or don’t wait for another car to drive past before they attempt to squeeze in. I’d recommend the other side of the main road, Eastwood Avenue and up that way. The street is also really well connected bus-wise if you want to avoid the parking headache. by princess_peachfuzz69 (Thu 2nd Dec 2021 11:08pm)

Try Rum Shack, Church on the Hill (wee bit further round the park), Kilmurray & Co and some other wee more cafe type places - Cafe Strange Brew, Brooklyn Cafe, Glad Cafe (recommend). All of these with the exception of Church on the Hill are on the same stretch of road so could even go a wee bar/cafe crawl and see what you like. by princess_peachfuzz69 (Thu 30th Dec 2021 1:37pm)

  • Regardless of whether it was a background or a picture, it’s an image of someone’s genitals OP didn’t ask to see or consent to seeing beforehand. OP made it clear they didn’t want to engage in conversation after saying they couldn’t help this man and yet they still kept pushing for them to look at the phone. So yes, they’ve been harassed. You’re not in any position to gatekeeper whether they’ve been harassed or not. If someone feels harassed, they are. End of. I didn’t fail to read your comment, I was clearing things up for you as you seem confused. Again, OP wasn’t vague. About a month ago there was a carnival type thing at silverburn, no idea if it’s still there or it’s any good but worth looking into. Also have a look on itison and see if there’s anything fun on there to do. by princess_peachfuzz69 (Sun 22nd May 2022 5:12pm)
  • Hi hi, please feel free to DM if you have any other questions. A few months ago I did some voluntary work and learnt about the services for recovering drug users at Parkhead Nazareth Church. The place has a really nice community feel to it and everyone drags each other through both the shit times and the good times. I’m not sure where abouts in the city you are based but I think there are similar branches around Glasgow that I can help you look into this week. I have only have experience of this one so if you’re in a desperate situation I recommend looking into these guys, it’s a short bus ride from town, near the Forge. Although it’s held in a ‘church’ I didn’t see any sort of religious propaganda so please don’t be put off by that. All the best mate, good luck. You’ve already done the hardest part - you’ve got this! Edit: it is Parkhead NAZARENE Church, not Nazareth by princess_peachfuzz69 (Sun 22nd May 2022 6:25pm)
  • Ok so did a quick google search, it’s Parkhead Nazarene recovery community you want to search for. They open again at 8am tomorrow I believe. Also search for your area + recovery community if Parkhead isnt accessible for you by princess_peachfuzz69 (Sun 22nd May 2022 6:32pm)

  • I’m not aware at this exact moment of any that specifically target youths but I’ve done some work with the Medics Against Violence Navigators. I think there’s 2 placed in each A&E in Glasgow and surrounding areas (maybe 3 in GRI). They wait until someone’s come in who’s maybe been having a rough time re gangs, other criminality, drug and alcohol dependencies, abuse victims etc. They’re completely unaffiliated with the police so they are a safe point of contact and patients/victims can tell the navigators things in confidence. If the person accepts help they then start helping them once they’ve left hospital be it youth groups, applying for college, alcohol/narcotics anonymous signposting etc etc etc. They’ll meet them in cafes around the city or in their homes and will go to meetings with them for moral support if the person wants that. They’re really very good and I think still a relatively unknown service. I know it’s not exactly what you asked for but something to maybe look into! by princess_peachfuzz69 (Sun 29th May 2022 8:34am)

  • Once I realise I just keep staring at my phone. If they’re being really persistent I will just say ‘leave me alone’ which doesn’t usually get accepted the first time. Then they keep talking and usually enough people at the bus stop has seen what’s happening by now so I’ll go and stand closer to them just to be safe and that usually gets rid of them. Most folk from Glasgow are very sound and protective of you when they see something like this happening. But I am a woman, I’m not sure if guys get treated the same. by princess_peachfuzz69 (Tue 7th Jun 2022 12:01am)
  • I didn’t see the guys original comment but I’m assuming he’s told me it’s dangerous to tell someone to leave me alone? It’s obviously not ideal and it should never get to the point where someone HAS to tell someone to leave them alone if they’re not engaging and their body language is saying you don’t want spoken too either but that’s unfortunately the way things are. I’m not gonna put myself in a situation where I have to entertain someone I don’t know when I don’t want to if I don’t have to. Simple as. by princess_peachfuzz69 (Tue 7th Jun 2022 10:25am)
  • Just to echo what everyone else is saying. They can increase it by any amount they want to! I was in the same situation as you last year and was panicking because the going rates were a good £400-£500 above what we were paying at the time. Thankfully they did an inspection and only put it up by £25. I think our landlord is an older lady who uses our rent as extra income (mortgage is paid off I believe). My only advice is to make sure the place is cleaned to within an inch of its life, some landlords are just happy that you’re looking after the place which is what I think happened in our case. To add to this, they can put it up by any amount but if it’s a stupidly high increase you can appeal it. This will only usually be successful if your new rent is miles above what anyone else is paying for a similar property in your area. by princess_peachfuzz69 (Tue 7th Jun 2022 10:41am)

Said I’d lived here my whole life and never heard of them. Then he asked me where the closest Boots was so I told him either Buchanan Galleries or central and he was like ‘yeah but I’m specifically looking for the one in St Vincent Galleries’. Told him once again I’d never heard of it. Then gave him directions to central at which point he insinuated I was lying about not know where St Vincent Galleries were so I just walked off. by princess_peachfuzz69 (Fri 10th Jun 2022 12:15am)

It’s terrible and they shouldn’t be accepting students knowing they can’t live anywhere but as it stands right now there’s not even enough homes to house permanent residents. • A lot of places have started adding ‘discretionary’ service charges onto your bill. Read your bill before you pay as the servers most likely won’t tell you and there’s a chance you’ll pay service then tip again. Only pay it if you want to. If you want to pay it, check with the staff that they actually get all of it as it’s easier for companies to steal staff tips this way. If they don’t get all of it or don’t get it at all, politely ask them to remove it and you can leave your own cash tip with your server if you feel like you want to. by princess_peachfuzz69 (Tue 18th Oct 2022 11:00am)

  • Used to do this at my old work. We’d always stay for a pint after close and without fail, someone would come to the fire exit which was down a lane and in a wee alcove and either piss or shit there. You could run up the fire exit stairs and peer down onto them. Would wait until their trousers were at their ankles but they hadn’t yet done the deed and to them, the heavens would open. • Once you’re paid up and on track for this month, get them to send you an email stating the exact date rent has to be paid. It should be the same exact date each month. E.g. I always pay mine on the 20th. That way they can’t mess you about each month and you don’t need to worry about things changing. If they still change things about after this, you’re legally backed by their own words. by princess_peachfuzz69 (Fri 4th Nov 2022 5:57pm)

I’ve seen his dogs attack two separate dogs on two separate occasions and have heard of other occasions through the grapevine but haven’t heard of them attacking people although this doesn’t come as a surprise sadly. He does not have control of those dogs at all! Each time I’ve seen it happen, there’s been loads more people on it before I could’ve got there so sadly don’t know what came of it or what was done. He always seems to have ‘don’t care’ attitude when it happens too as you mentioned. I don’t know how he repeatedly gets away with it. I don’t really know what the correct thing to do is in all honesty but I think police need to be involved as this has been going on for over two years at this point. by princess_peachfuzz69 (Sat 26th Nov 2022 2:39pm)
  • Ok, a few things. As most have said, the rental market is wild here at the moment. A lot of folk have had to move back in with parents or younger folk at uni are either homeless or couch surfing - the uni is having to pay for hotel accommodation as there’s simply not enough affordable housing in the city at the moment. That being said, you could look at places further out like Cumbernauld and East Kilbride and you’ll probably find a place to live much easier. There is some cracking wee places to be found in these areas and they’re both relatively safe and the majority of people are sound. If you know anyone here, I’d seriously consider asking to stay with them indefinitely or until you find somewhere to live more permanently otherwise you’re going to spend a huge chunk of your savings on hotels/Airbnb’s. If you do find a place further out, this will significantly restrict where you can work as trains stop around midnight at the latest and buses will come once an hour after that (if they even show up). There are taxis and Ubers obviously but at hospitality closing times, they’re a nightmare to get and will be very expensive. I’m talking £40+ to get home each night. Most hospitality places (restaurants, bars, clubs) will close between 10pm and 3am and you’ll still need to work your fair share of closes after this so you’ll be in work later than the states closing time. The way annual leave works in Scotland is you will legally get 5 weeks paid holiday off per year. This is usually paid when you take the time off but some business will give you a small % added into your wage each week/month and means that you don’t receive a pay for when you take the time off. It’s not a huge amount of time to do any travelling around Scotland but is good if you want to experience Glaswegian culture a bit more. Au pair/nanny isn’t much of a thing here. Some really rich people might do it but as others have mentioned, you won’t get too much money to spend from this as the family will provide all your needs. With the cost of living going up, this kind of work will be even less common than it already is. by princess_peachfuzz69 (Sun 27th Nov 2022 9:53am)

  • Years ago I was in Iceland and paid a pretty penny to go on a Northern Lights trip. Deal was if you didn’t see any, you got your money back. Drove for a while, driver starts going ‘they’re here, they’re here!’. So we pull over, all get out the bus and I don’t really see anything at all really? Maybe a very faint glow, looked like we were near an illuminated football field or something. We all get our pics taken and they get developed and given to us later on in the night and the pictures look like what you see on tv and in photos but that is definitely not what I seen. Thought all images of the Lights were just camera tricks. Then on last night, went to the Blue Lagoon at night time and they came out properly then. Was just like you see on tv. It was breathtaking tbh, sitting outside in a Geothermal pool whilst the air temp is -8 and you’ve got a beer in hand from the swim up bar (the only beer you can afford). I think there’s three bars to get hot chocolate etc from. They’re all full of overpriced shyte. There’s a wee restaurant bit that I didn’t try but it looks shyte. There’s hardly any shyte wee places to sit so you’ll just be wandering from one end to the other (which takes about 30 seconds tops each way) for ages. It’s shyte. Don’t go. • I hate to break it to you but if you have a roof over your head, a warm place to sleep, a job, money for food AND £400 disposable income at the end of the month - you’re doing so much better than a lot of people in Glasgow. Not to mention, you seem to be affording all this yourself and not splitting bills with a partner. You’re also working 40 hours a week which is decent compared to some folk working 60+ hour weeks just to get a hot dinner each night. It sounds to me like you’re upset that the job you’ve chosen to do is not paying the salary you’d like. If you look across the board at admin jobs, I think you’ll find your salary is pretty average for that line of work. You should take some of your free time to find out what other interests you have outside of admin work that would match with a better salary (and maybe even less that 40 hours of work per week) and pursue this. I hate the government as much as the next person but it sounds like you’re blaming them for problems that aren’t actually affecting you instead of taking accountability for your unhappiness yourself. by princess_peachfuzz69 (Sun 11th Dec 2022 11:48am)
  • You will become used to it but people genuinely get depressed here because of the weather, not just how they perceive if but the biochemical changes that happen in your body because of the constant cold/dark/wet/lack of sunlight. You NEED all that stuff for your internal biological processes so it’s not really all down to your personal weather preference. After 4 days, you’ll have a taste for the normal weather here but it eventually wears you down and can’t really be fully experienced in such a short timeframe. When you move, make sure to take lots of vitamin supplements and try to work around daylight hours if possible so you can try and get out for a lunch time walk/vitamin D re-stock before the sun goes back down. In summer, daylight exposure is much, much better but you’re not guaranteed any ‘good’ weather, it still rains a lot in summer. There’s also a pretty horrid humidity in summer, it’s more clammy and exhausting than balmy if that’s makes sense. However, summer is much more manageable than winter. Good luck! by princess_peachfuzz69 (Mon 12th Dec 2022 9:12am)
  • Yep, you need to get it from diet and supplements in winter mostly and get as much as you can in non-winter months so working around the daylight hours helps to get more sunlight exposure. by princess_peachfuzz69 (Mon 12th Dec 2022 3:08pm)

  • Ok, I can spell it out for you. It means that people have offered you the advice of not to pay the fine. That way you’re not out of pocket but have advised you not to park there in future, as parking there is difficult for people who actually need it since other people, like you, are using the car park for reasons other than it’s intended purpose. For some reason, you’ve taken serious personal offence to other people saying you shouldn’t have parked there even though there’s a good reason why you shouldn’t. It gives off the impression that you think you’re more important and can park anywhere you want even if it means inconveniencing other people. I don’t think anyone’s said you’ve made Shawlands a hellhole from what I’ve seen, that was your own words. It sounds like you might be projecting your own feelings here. As for getting a grip … I’ve already got one. It’s really only you who’s losing your tempter on Reddit over a fault you’ve already admitted was your own mistake in the original post. by princess_peachfuzz69 (Sun 29th Jan 2023 12:53pm)
  • First of all, welcome to Glasgow. I’ve seen your artwork (and it’s very good) but please bare in mind, it’s incredibly difficult here to earn a steady and regular income as an artist. Have you considered doing something else and doing your art on the side? There’s plenty of restaurant/hospitality work going about as well as cleaning jobs etc. It’s great for flexible hours and a more reliable income. Also loads of other benefits like meeting various members of the community and improving English (Glaswegian accents can be a bit difficult at first). If you’re certain you want a host family, I would go through the official channels you’ve been provided with instead of looking online/on Reddit, especially since you have a kid. This way you know the hosts have been vetted and are safe. Alternatively if you can get reliable work, the housing market has calmed down a lot, there’s plenty of private rented properties in my area now that having been on the market for weeks. I imagine it’s much the same across Glasgow. Best of luck to you! by princess_peachfuzz69 (Fri 10th Feb 2023 11:23pm)
  • So it looks like you are at The University of Glasgow - they’re the only uni I know who work on a 22 point grade system. Here’s a breakdown in PDF form: https://www.gla.ac.uk/media/Media_124293_smxx.pdf An E2 is most likely a fail, anything from a D3 and up is a passing grade but this might vary course to course, I’m not sure. That’s obviously weighted 60:40 with your 40% being your C2 grade. I’m not sure if you’ve passed unfortunately but you should be able to work it out by looking at the file above and looking at the corresponding %s which match with your grades. by princess_peachfuzz69 (Wed 22nd Feb 2023 8:39pm)
  • Agreed! It’s so stupid, I don’t know why they have to be so *original*. I’m not sure if every course at GU uses it, but my course at least uses Angoff cut off too so the pass mark and grade distributions vary based on how everyone else does, it’s a joke. Our exam pass marks can vary anywhere between 50% and 62% so you have NO idea how you’ve done for weeks on end. by princess_peachfuzz69 (Wed 22nd Feb 2023 8:55pm)
  • There are looooads of people advertising rooms on my course at the moment (Glasgow Uni), so there are definitely options available. As you’ve said? You’re looking in February when every student is still very much in accommodation. Wait until the semester is over and loads of folk graduate and move out. Also, your uni can act as a guarantor for you. by princess_peachfuzz69 (Fri 24th Feb 2023 12:43am)
  • Firstly, sorry your family had to go through that. I left for a few years and came back in 2016. First thing I noticed was how many more homeless people were living on the streets in the city centre. Unfortunately, I don’t feel like the situation has improved on that front. I’ve been living in Shawlands since then and it feels a lot more gentrified now. Some places are still manky but I think it’s caused more my a select few who don’t care to pick up after themselves than it is to do with larger problems. Overall, I love living here and consider it a nice place to live. Crime (break ins etc) has been on the rise, I’ve noticed in the last year, probably directly correlating to the cost of living. I would say Shawlands is probably more ‘white’ than it was when you were last here but racism generally will not fly here. If anyone were to try it, I can guarantee they’ll be whispering under their breath, afraid that anyone else will hear them. You will get racists anywhere you go sadly, but by in large, you will always be welcome in Glasgow. by princess_peachfuzz69 (Fri 24th Feb 2023 12:17pm)

You might need to do some trial and error until you find one you like/are comfortable with. ALL GP’s are going to know about EDS. Once you join, I’d phone your old GP and tell them to send a transcript of your medical history up to your new GP, I know it seems like this should be done automatically but unfortunately it doesn’t. Once that’s done, book an appointment to discuss what treatment you’ve had previously, what you’d like to continue with up here and ask them for any suggestions for therapies you haven’t tried/want to try again etc. by princess_peachfuzz69 (Tue 28th Feb 2023 3:27pm)

  • Can get a taxi from home to train and from train to vet, the bulk of the journey will still be quicker and it’ll be cheaper. Will work out roughly the same time but cheaper than getting a taxi the whole way. So no, it’s not ‘pedantically obtuse’ if you think about it. by princess_peachfuzz69 (Thu 25th May 2023 12:02pm)
  • Nope, barely ever go out anymore as 1. I can’t afford to most of the time and 2. If I can afford to, I just can’t justify spending that much money when I could either save that money for emergencies or buy something that’s much more needed. I maybe get a takeaway once a month if I’ve had a rough week but I appreciate I’m really privileged just to even be able to do that. I always feel incredibly guilty after it. I’m not a big drinker so going out to eat was my treat. by princess_peachfuzz69 (Thu 1st Jun 2023 2:46pm)
  • I don’t but I do feel guilty for spending more money on food than I have to. by princess_peachfuzz69 (Thu 1st Jun 2023 4:04pm)

  • My dad used to take me to the Time Capsule all the time in the 90s and I absolutely LOVED IT. I remember everything you’ve said in your comment. Also was petrified of the cave men. For shits and giggles my dad would take my right up to them and I’d absolutely fucking screech so then he’d dunk me under the wee waterfalls that lined the rapids and I hated that too. Seem to remember you could get into the ‘rapids’ via the right of the main pool or you could go down a few slides on the left of the pool which had gave men and a t-Rex that spat at you into the lazy river bit which led into the rapids too. There was also a wee walkway bit that went between the lazy river and the ice rink which took you to a stair case which took you up to the single flume. You’ve just unlocked extremely vivid memories for me, thank you! by princess_peachfuzz69 (Tue 13th Jun 2023 1:57pm)
  • Honestly in Queen’s Park the police don’t care as long as you’re not being a nuisance so I don’t even try and hide it. by princess_peachfuzz69 (Tue 13th Jun 2023 9:00pm)
  • Why would they detain people with alcohol and drug addictions in prison? They’re not committing a crime by being ill? Should wee Brenda with arthritic knees be chucked in prison too? by princess_peachfuzz69 (Thu 15th Jun 2023 9:52pm)
  • I have such bad nostalgia for that summer. To be 21 again! by princess_peachfuzz69 (Fri 16th Jun 2023 11:12pm)
  • Just yesterday on renfield street I saw 3 guys (1 on one bike and 2 on another) wearing balaclavas on those bikes and playing chicken with double decker busses! Wee fucking idiots. One almost got hit and they were all laughing. Wouldn’t be fucking laughing once they see what happens when a wee cunt squares up to a bus. Imagine the trauma that bus driver would have had the rest of his life if he’d accidentally hit one through no fault of his own. by princess_peachfuzz69 (Mon 19th Jun 2023 10:58am)
  • Recommend not using indeed - go into places with a printed out CV. They want to see you and see how you present yourself. On your CV, write your availability and how many hours you’re looking for. Retail can be ok for some but I recommend hospitality as you’ll get a cut of the tips too and tends to be much more flexible in my experience. Always able to cover shifts if you need more money and get them covered if you’re stressed with college work. Good luck. by princess_peachfuzz69 (Fri 28th Jul 2023 3:27pm)
  • We’re getting all our deliveries/waste pick ups done through the night atm because of the road closures. Usually done late morning/early afternoon so hopefully it’s just temporary for you by princess_peachfuzz69 (Tue 8th Aug 2023 11:50am)
  • Have you got a car? I’ve always wanted to do one of the Alpaca treks. There’s quite a few places to do it around Glasgow and I’m pretty sure in some places you can book packages with lunch/afternoon tea. by princess_peachfuzz69 (Sun 27th Aug 2023 8:57am)
  • You’ll get hired no problem but just a heads up. If you find working in a warehouse tiring, a hospitality job will Fuck. You. Up. by princess_peachfuzz69 (Wed 30th Aug 2023 10:12pm)
  • Definitely better to try and do your preferred work beforehand. When I worked in hospo I was very fit and driven and tbh I really struggled to be ‘productive’ in the morning. I’d do maybe 12-10’s or 3-12’s and although doesn’t seem too bad it, it physically and socially drained me. I was a complete write-off after work and the most i could really manage before work was maybe go to the shops and on a really good day, get out to the gym or for a big walk. I didn’t really have the time or energy to devote to doing other work that I wanted to do. On top of this, you can be working 6/7 hours a week, two days off in a row is extremely rare and you’ll be done in on your days off and spend it resting to get up to scratch for your next block of shifts. If I were you, I’d look into getting maybe some entry level admin work, set shifts, nice hours and usually have weekends off. Even look into NHS/police call centres. I found sales call centres to be absolutely miserable but might also be worth looking into if you think you can hack it. by princess_peachfuzz69 (Wed 30th Aug 2023 10:41pm)

  • Haven’t read all the comments so I don’t know if this has been suggested but the guys over at r/legaladviceuk might be able to help you by princess_peachfuzz69 (Wed 6th Sep 2023 8:35am)
  • Fair enough. I’d give it a shot anyway, worst case scenario is no one replies. Just remember to say in your post that you’re in Scotland as advice may differ around the UK. I hope you get it sorted, no one needs to be paying that kind of money unexpectedly during these times. by princess_peachfuzz69 (Wed 6th Sep 2023 9:39am)
  • Unit? by princess_peachfuzz69 (Wed 6th Sep 2023 7:04pm)
  • If you’re at Glasgow Uni it’s really not a far walk if you’re able bodied. You could potentially walk up to Argyle Street and get any bus going west for one stop and make your way up Byres Rd but I don’t think it’d be worth it, personally. If you’re not able-bodied you’ll probably have to get an Uber because you’d be walking on both sides of a bus journey anyway. If you walk up Kelvinhaugh Street, turn left onto Lymburn Street and turn right up to the end of Kelvin Way, you’ll be at the top of university avenue (GUU end) fairly quickly. You are located much closer than most other students. by princess_peachfuzz69 (Wed 6th Sep 2023 8:25pm)
  • Get yourself some lunch from Deanston Bakery and take a walk to pollok park and have a picnic. Don’t leave this too late, the bakery is insanely popular and sells out fast. by princess_peachfuzz69 (Sat 9th Sep 2023 11:53am)
