  • Terrible - my daughter has severe anxiety (can't go out, can't even think of a job) and we paid for different therapists to no avail, Doctor more or less suggested we try the hard line (just give yourself a shake) approach, which of course did not work, a year and a half later and we get a GP referral for a CBT course from the NHS. My wife and I ,and of course our daughter feel as if we have come to a brick wall with no end in sight. I wish you luck, mental health support is fucking shit. by sandsbebe (Wed 23rd Sep 2020 3:26pm)
  • You know what else Duke street is ? A long street with tenements either side, like a big long firing range for seagulls, and you go down it in your cheap wee Megane convertible with the roof down, feeling like an aging pimp and get shit on. No need to ask me how I know. by sandsbebe (Fri 16th Oct 2020 9:04am)
  • East Kilbride is pretty much fine, You probably will need a car, but we do have a few train stations and buses are frequent. Apart from the usual kids trying to be hard, the vast majority of folks will not give you a second glance. At the risk of offending people - avoid Greenhills, Westwood and The Murray, the rest is mostly fine. It is still quite green and open has great value housing. Source - I came from some of the bad bits of Glasgow and now live here in EK, to me it's an incredible place. by sandsbebe (Sat 17th Oct 2020 8:38pm)
  • I suspect you are not a fisherman ? Salmon have always been spawning in the Clyde, pollution obviously took a toll but they are back in good numbers now, Stonebyres power station is the upper limit for them but they spawn succesfully just below it and just a few miles further, the falls of Clyde are a natural barrier they have never been able to cross, so I am not sure what the salmon forums mean by "lack of natural spawning". You can see them leap the weir at Blantyre around October. by sandsbebe (Sun 1st Nov 2020 8:18am)
  • Gumtree prob best for Used cheap, look for one that's been with last owner a few years, high miles are not a problem with modern cars. Dealer warranties are usually a rip off but some dealers are around same price as private sellers. What to expect - Used cheap, - £600 (some MOT, a year life ,not recommended), £1000 (most of a year MOT, 1-2 years life), £3000 (10 year old, full MOT, good condition,5+ years of life) by sandsbebe (Wed 4th Nov 2020 8:18pm)
  • If you are struggling send me some pics of the bits needing done and I will see if I can help. by sandsbebe (Thu 5th Nov 2020 8:49pm)
  • Not aware of any places specializing in campervans, but why not give it a go yourself ? A solar panel can't be hard to do, and the cost of those things that need done will be more expensive than buying parts + tools and you will always have the tools later. • Yeh, I found those posts, but I am a bit worried about pulling the emergency brake thing, since I know it is not a real mechanical fault, rather a glitch when the plug was disconnected with car running. by sandsbebe (Wed 9th Dec 2020 9:28pm)
  • Tried the old disconnect but never thought to leave battery off all night, will give that a go, thanks by sandsbebe (Wed 9th Dec 2020 9:25pm)

  • I would have thought even shit brake pads would last 15000 miles unless you are super-brakey, rusty discs are not an MOt fail, "discs severely scored and/or pitted", I think is how a disc failure is worded. Can you see pitting or obvious deep scoring or a big lip on the outside edges? by sandsbebe (Sat 12th Dec 2020 5:40pm)

  • What about the fucking lazy cunts who park at the entrance to supermarkets with an entire free car park just feet away ? Often seems to be a wee wank in a giant Audi on the phone waiting for his wee cow of a missus to go get something, with an attitude of fuck people including disabled having to negotiate round them. by sandsbebe (Sat 19th Dec 2020 11:17am)

  • I would say from experience...the bathroom suite supplier will stipulate that all items must be checked before fitting, that is only reasonable and they will replace any item that is damaged, you can see why this is reasonable, if they supplied it broken, they will replace F.O.C but they can't be expected to replace an item broken during or after fitting. As you are not a plumber, I would expect the professional plumber to check all items before fitting. It appears to me that the plumber is at fault. As a side note - shower traps are made of plastic and are really quite difficult to crack, it is more likely that it was not tightened up properly by the plumber. by sandsbebe (Mon 11th Jan 2021 2:23pm)
  • I lived in a single end from about age 5 to 10, this would be 1969. 1 bedroom for 5 of us kids and mum and dad in the living room/kitchen, toilet was shared with another family and was on the landing, no light in there but plenty spiders and freezing cold. Washing(body) was done in the sink at the window, we had one coal fire and the mice were everywhere. When I think back now it was extreme poverty but as a kid it was just where we lived. 873 London Road, where the police station is now. by sandsbebe (Mon 11th Jan 2021 11:02pm)

  • Have the owners tried the methods used before ? Leave some owners clothing near where dog was lost with some food, people have recovered dogs before using this, also I will take my dog and kids down the Clyde walkway today for a look on the off chance. by sandsbebe (Thu 28th Jan 2021 8:26am)
  • Not really sure what you mean, last time I looked it was illegal to poison/trap/kill foxes. They will move if food source or home is gone but I suspect they were there before the houses and get food nearby, urban foxes are everywhere, prob just have to get used to them. I do sympathise to an extent, I have them nearby and the mating/fighting is a nightmare but good double glazing helps. by sandsbebe (Sun 31st Jan 2021 6:07am)

  • Green waste you take to dump gets composted and used for parks department for parks and gardens. Green waste that goes in to wheelie bins in Glasgow comes to Polmadie and is used to make gas and biofuel for our turbine, which makes electricty to power the smart recycling plant. It's quite interesting. by sandsbebe (Tue 9th Mar 2021 8:05pm)

  • I speak from experience of my daughter who has severe anxiety, don't think that medication is bad ( I read this from the way you say "medication eventually") , after 2 years of CBT and being told to pull herself together (she is 18, 16 when this started), medication has been the ONLY light in her tunnel. Our whole family is in tatters because of her illness, seek help my friend but don't think as we did that medication is bad or a "last resort", if tht is what you need, explain and just ask for it. Sometimes medication is the thing that can give you a chance to get back from the brink. You will not be thrown in an asylum. by sandsbebe (Wed 17th Mar 2021 11:39pm)

  • I still say coil pack. The coil pack supplies the power to the spark plugs, a dud pack will supply the power intermittently , when the engine runs and the spark plugs don't fire - they get coated in debris. If I am right, you will get the same symptoms again. by sandsbebe (Wed 21st Apr 2021 5:57am)

In my younger days when I lived in the Red Road flats and went jogging, I got shouted at all the time and often had a request for my trainers, although to the untrained ear it did sound a little threatening (geez yer trainers ya fuckin bam). by sandsbebe (Sun 2nd May 2021 7:55am)

  • If you go down the Clyde valley in Autumn you can get apples and plums, if you are quick enough to get there before the squirrels you can get hazelnut almost anywhere in Autumn (get to know the shape of leaves), at other times of year the bark and hazelnut shells on the ground are a giveaway to recognise a hazel for the next Autumn. Perthshire in Autumn again is where an abundance of fungi are (get a book and learn to recognise the simple to identify edible ones). I believe you can make a flour from acorns and beech nuts. Bivalves (mussels and cockles, razorfish can be gathered close to low tide mark ( keep as far from towns as possible) and best to stick to winter/early spring as the can harbour bacteria which multiplies greatly in warmer weather. by sandsbebe (Mon 3rd May 2021 11:34am)
  • I work in the Glasgow Recycling and Renewable Energy Centre in Polmadie, go on ask me. by sandsbebe (Tue 4th May 2021 5:43pm)
  • In case you did not know, beside the civic recycling centre is a big grey structure, this is the Glasgow recycling and renwable energy centre (GRREC), run by Viridor in partneship with GCC. With the closure of landfills imminent, it aims to recycle 90% of Glasgow waste, here's how it works - Household waste comes in,bag openers burst open bags and off it all goes to the smart recycling facility, where air jets separate off cardboard , paper and plastics, ferrous metals are recovered by magnet and other metals by eddy current, organic material is sent to the pulper. Now it gets interesting - paper and plastic is shredded and sent to a high temp burner, metals sold and organic material is broken down to produce a gas and fuel for the burner, this heats water and creates steam to power a turbine which powers the plant , excess is sold to the grid. The ash which is captured (you will only see steam from the chimney) is used in the manufacture of cement. The reason you separate cardboard and plastic is they were sold to markets such as China, that has collapsed so they have to go in the burner now but at least that generates energy not just landfill. It's far from perfect but it's a vast improvement on the old Polmadie site which just burnt waste. by sandsbebe (Tue 4th May 2021 10:19pm)
  • Here is a youtube video of the process, quite fun to watch ...https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YV3-_vMpktE by sandsbebe (Wed 5th May 2021 8:39am)

  • It ends up in the shredder, which will smash it, then glass is recovered and used in road surfaces for better grip by sandsbebe (Wed 5th May 2021 10:55am)
  • You have to get into the mind of the dafty...if it's cold out, they won't be in the park, summer they probably will be out drinking, in saying that Dennistoun in general and including the park has come on leaps and bounds, my feeling is you will be fine. by sandsbebe (Thu 6th May 2021 5:56am)
  • Viridor is opening a plant in England that will take and reuse our plastics, the cardboard would have to be incinerated until we find a new market or wait until it becomes in demand again from other countries, but smart recycling plants are the only way forward, we can't keep landfilling. by sandsbebe (Thu 6th May 2021 3:18pm)
  • This is really early days, and we have lots of setbacks which mean waste still gets diverted to landfill at times although many times we shuttle waste to other erf's as the waste does have a monetary value as well as penalty. its one of the situations where using a private company instead of the local council works - viridor foots the bill for any waste we have to landfill so that becomes a massive incentive to run the plant as effectively as possible, the initial plan was to run the plant on its own electricity and supply cheap or free heat to local homes as a way of increasing public acceptance, as yet the heating scheme is not up and running. I don't know the figures but i believe it is also more cost effective to sell power to the grid at peak times than use it to power the plant ( that's business i suppose). I suppose to answer the point about separation of waste which gets mixed and separated again at our facility, people need to get and stay in the habit of separating so that when the markets for cardboard and plastic open up again we are aleady doing it, as i said previously viridor will be sending plastics to a facility in England soon that is dedicated to plastics. Its not perfect just now but its the only way forward . by sandsbebe (Sat 8th May 2021 12:16pm)
  • Also to answer a previous post about things we wish people would do when recycling , GCC (and other councils) have never communicated to the residents about clean recyclables - washing out cans and bottles and only clean and dry cardboard. Remember that the whole thing relies on companies like viridor making a profit (this is business) and a few dirty plastic bottles or some oil soaked cardboard can mean the difference between top dollar for quality recyclables and it all just going to the burner (the end buyer will reject contaminated goods). by sandsbebe (Sat 8th May 2021 12:43pm)

  • I have lived in more than a few shit parts of Glasgow but I don't remember it being as bad as that ( fights and shouting at weekend usually), I think you need to move as soon as you can, it sounds like you are in a real shithole, half a mile can make a world of difference. by sandsbebe (Tue 18th May 2021 8:31am)
  • Same as everyone said, cover and a few locks,Glasgow has nowhere near the bike thefts as Brazil or even London, for a 125cc, I would say any attempt at theft would be teenagers trying their luck and a cover and locks would deter most of them if not all. When I had a bike I covered it then chain round the cover, that stops anyone even lifting the cover ( or stealing the cover). by sandsbebe (Thu 27th May 2021 9:51pm)
  • In any given scenario I suppose you will get the hardened thief, the semi - hardened thief and the ones who would nick it if the keys were in type, it would certainly deter the last ones but possibly others if it was in a cul-de sac and lots of eyes were on him, also if I was going to nick a bike, being seen pulling up the cover is risking being noted and possibly getting a kicking. by sandsbebe (Fri 28th May 2021 4:34pm)

Car park at the Crow road on the Campsies looks ok, laybys on the way to Biggar look ok and only the odd trucker there, I have seen motorhomes in laybys down Ayrshire coast, I don't see anyone bothering you if you park up and put the roof tent up after 9 - 10pm, it's only for sleeping in, it's not as if you can cook in it. by sandsbebe (Fri 4th Jun 2021 1:41pm)

  • The only thing you can do is imagine that person had a valid reason to drive like a tit, dying mother, driving their child to hospital, mental breakdown etc, it takes the anger away a bit because unfortunately in this fine country, you can't go stabbing people in the eyballs for bad driving (much as we want to). An eye opener to me was in a book I read on the science behind traffic, the writer said that is was proven that using all the lanes available at any time was most efficient, and therefore in a closed lane situation on the motorway, running right up to the cones and merging in turn at the cones helped everyone, I was raging until he pointed out that to feel better, everyone should remember that they have free choice to use any lane and therefore if they pick the slowest lane it's their own choice. It helped me calm down a lot when a lane is closed, by sandsbebe (Sun 15th Aug 2021 3:59pm)

  • If you can get someone with a bit of knowledge then Gumtree has loads of older cars, but unless the person has had the car for years and maintained it then expect to fix some things, thats life with 2nd hand cars. I have had 5 cars , all costing around £1000 - £1600, from gumtree, all lasted about 4 years before they became too old and uneconomic to repair. I would expect a £3000 - £5000 car to be in very good condition with only very minor things to fix if any. by sandsbebe (Fri 20th Aug 2021 8:33pm)

If you are fitting kitchens and bathrooms for other people for money, I don't think you will pick it up in that course, I have done my own bathroom and kitchen from complete rip out, but it takes a lot of time and mistakes and is not perfect but saved me a ton of money. by sandsbebe (Thu 16th Sep 2021 11:04am)
  • The metal used for studs and nuts on cars are pretty hard, not sure how you can mess these up, are you sure it's not just a tiny burr in the screwthread? Put the nut on and tighten it firmly, you can't do any more damage if it is knackered. BTW Citroen studs are made of chocolate, I drove for years with 4/5 on 3 wheels and 3/5 on the other wheel, they never fell off but I did worry. by sandsbebe (Thu 23rd Sep 2021 8:55pm)

  • How much are you willing to spend, used car prices have shot up. Used car buying is a total minefield, even for the knowlegeable. I will say that no car dealers right up to the multi-million pound Arnold Clark, sell cars that are checked and have all faults repaired, what they do is hope you don't find any until it's too late. My advice is look on Gumtree for a small basic car like a Toyota Yaris, small Skoda etc that's had one or two owners and the last owner has had it for some years and be prepared to get some repairs done at a reputable garage that won't rip you off. by sandsbebe (Sun 3rd Oct 2021 8:59am)

  • So if it is a similar fault to the Renault, the abs sensor wire near the brake disc on the inside will be loose or hanging off due to the clip that holds it in place rusting away. The bad part is that metal clip usually cant be replaced unless the hub is taken off, costing more time and money. I have sucessfully used epoxy resin to hold mine in place in the past and passed mot as well, so you could suggest that to the garage to save money ? by sandsbebe (Fri 25th Mar 2022 1:55pm)

Keep in mind HGV's will be limited to 60mph and can't accelerate fast, they really don't want a vehicle to come on in front of them slower than they are going, it takes them a while to build speed back up again. by sandsbebe (Mon 9th May 2022 8:08am)

  • A follow up to my previous post, the skiddy car light seems to be linked to a choked egr valve which is hard to reach, this ties in with a blocked or full dpf which puts on the mil lights and puts car into limp mode, i would guess this is the reason the car was offloaded to that dealer. If you cant take the car back, these faults are fixable but costly google dpf cleaning or washing and get a price to replace or clean egr valve and pipework. by sandsbebe (Fri 3rd Jun 2022 4:26pm)

  • Bear in mind that garages may rip you off cos your American (rotors/city center) and you are going in to ask them to find any problems. I looked up your other posts and it seems you have bought a Clio, many will steer clear ( see what I did there?) of Renault but I have had a few, and still have one and they are not really any worse than any other maker. If it starts and runs ok, goes thru gears easily then the most likely wear parts are discs(rotors), pads, track rod ends, balljoints and drop links and Renault's signature breaking part - front springs. Clio's are fairly reliable and there are zillions of them, so parts will be cheap. Another thing to bear in mind, if you are competent, the cost of tools and parts will be far below the cost of a garage repair - and you will always have the tools. I would offer to help but going on holiday for a few weeks very soon. Good luck. by sandsbebe (Tue 12th Jul 2022 7:24pm)

  • Is the ABS light on and does it exhibit any braking issues? If it is the ABS unit, I see them on fleabay for £150, but garages mostly don't want to fit your parts. The unit swap over is simple, the hardest part is bleeding the whole system afterwords but that would only take a garage 2 hours max. You and a mate could do this yourself, the videos are on youtube and the parts and tools would be far less than a garage. A set of spanners, penetrating fluid for the fasteners and bleed screws,a cheap brake bleed kit, the ABS unit and a few litres of brake fluid is all that's required. by sandsbebe (Thu 28th Jul 2022 9:23pm)
  • Do you feel that grinding through the pedal ? Sorry but just trying to save you the hassle in case it was misdiagnosed. The typical ABS fault does make the car pull to one side, the grinding or pulsing is what the ABS does when activated. I would have deffo expected the ABS light to be on if its faulty. I bought a Citroen picasso from them with a gubbed clutch and they replaced it no problem, then like an idiot, bought another picasso many years later - 14000 miles old and would you believe it - a juddering clutch, this time was much harder cos it was under warranty and neither Citroen nor Arnold wanted to pay for it, eventually Citroen paid up. • I am sick of hearing people jump on GCC for everything, it's not GCC's fucking problem, it's arsehole people that are the problem. by sandsbebe (Sun 28th Aug 2022 11:25am)
  • I am sure no one actually wants to kill or injure a cyclist and motorists should absolutely watch out and give space but I do think cyclist's bear some responsibilty for their actions ( bright clothing, cycle defensively and obey traffic law) given the absolute shitshow that is uber eats and deliveroo, I can see why motorists and cyclists can come into conflict. Please understand I am not defending the motorist, as you say, they will always come out unharmed but we need some decent behaviour on both sides. by sandsbebe (Wed 31st Aug 2022 11:53am)
  • Oh my, downvoted for trying to see both sides, makes cyclists look like cunts. by sandsbebe (Wed 31st Aug 2022 12:25pm)

  • What age are you, 10? by sandsbebe (Wed 31st Aug 2022 12:36pm)
  • There is and should be a fucking "us and them", cylists are vunerable and car drivers are not, maybe we should create a greater divide so people can see that. If you mean "us and them" as opposing factions then some folk need to grow up. by sandsbebe (Wed 31st Aug 2022 12:35pm)
  • The point I was trying to make was if we all acted better, maybe vunerable road users would be injured less, is this not reasonable? by sandsbebe (Wed 31st Aug 2022 12:43pm)
  • You don't get it, read and try to understand, you have fallen into the " drivers are responsible for everyone" trap, I tried to suggest care on both sides and it turned into us and them very quickly. by sandsbebe (Wed 31st Aug 2022 12:54pm)
  • you are really helpful by sandsbebe (Wed 31st Aug 2022 1:16pm)
  • Yes but my point was lost in the scramble to prove who is right, the bottom line is cyclists will get killed or injured so surely acting like an adult and minimising the chance by doing everything possible helps the cyclist, it was not meant to absolve the driver of blame. by sandsbebe (Wed 31st Aug 2022 1:15pm)
  • You,yourself have suggested nothing. by sandsbebe (Wed 31st Aug 2022 1:31pm)
  • Everyone here knows that,it's obvious but dare to suggest that a cyclist rides as if he is in part responsible (for his own safety) and you get downvoted. by sandsbebe (Wed 31st Aug 2022 2:03pm)

  • It's difficult with depreciation, a £20k car in 10 years can be worth £1k, I sold my Marin bike, admittedly perfect condition and 30 years old for £40, it cost £350 in 1992 and I now think for £40, I should have just kept it. by sandsbebe (Thu 1st Sep 2022 12:03pm)

  • It becomes difficult to reason with someone with a closed mind. All I ever said was cyclists and drivers both need to be better on the road but you seem to have the attitude of nope it's all the driver's fault, I can ride with my eyes closed and it will still be the driver's fault. by sandsbebe (Thu 1st Sep 2022 6:17pm)
  • I also had the August/Autumn thought until a farming workmate pointed out that September to him was late summer, now makes sense cos Sept can still have some warm sunny days, but come October it's all over, so to me October is Autumn, leaves are going brown and falling off well into November, really cold weather is not til January. by sandsbebe (Sun 4th Sep 2022 9:22am)

  • It might seem a pity to kill them ( I struggle with the idea) but the damage they cause is significant, chewed wires, destroyed paperwork, stink of mouse pee, little mouse poos everywhere. I have them in my garage and have lost a lot of things with their damage. I opted for 4 snap traps from Amazon baited with chocolate spread and this gets them pretty quickly. If like me, you are in a terraced house near a green area, it will most likely be a field mouse than a house mouse and it has found it's way in by chance, in tenements, house mice can be harder to eradicate. by sandsbebe (Tue 13th Sep 2022 9:20am)

  • It has to start with packaging - I hate seeing "special offer" biscuits wrapped in the special offer wrapping with the original packaging underneath, then open them to find each biscuit in it's own wee wrapper, but the bottom line is people here are just dirty lazy bastards. I had this convo with a guy at work and his take on it was if there were no bins near he would just drop his litter, as if that was the only option. by sandsbebe (Wed 21st Sep 2022 9:25am)

  • Right let's approach this logically - clay pigeon shooting in Queens park in a built up area - just not gonny happen, people shooting at each other with handguns - no cos handguns are hard to get and you get the jail , so unless you are a hardcore criminal, you won't get one and they get used sparingly - cos you know jail and risk of firearms squad shootin you, so that leaves bams with fireworks, no less scary but at least you know. by sandsbebe (Tue 27th Sep 2022 11:50am)

Why not just take your dug out to meet and sniff other dugs and get people to pat it and hand them teats to give it, that's the way most folk do it I presume, that's how I always did it and have always had nice dugs. by sandsbebe (Wed 28th Sep 2022 7:36pm)
  • All you can do is make it mega - difficult, chain lock bike to lit lamppost, use a cover and chain lock again over that cover, maybe get an alarm that senses movement. • I live in EK, I created a monster years ago by being "that house", we go overboard in the house and garden and I roamed the streets this year in a big inflatable dinosaur outfit scaring kids, we gave out close to 100 sweet bags and have kids coming from all over to our house. Only 2 other houses made any effort, most were lights out and blinds shut, such a shame. I would like a week of Halloween before the 2 solid months of Xmas crap. by sandsbebe (Wed 2nd Nov 2022 8:40am)
  • You are spot on, I see it in my street, apart from us and 2 other houses, everyone else, as soon as their kids are up, they stop making any effort, it's shit, they sent their kids out at Halloween but now don't give back, my kids are late teens and we still do the house up and give out sweets. When I was young and we lived in poverty it was one of the times of year we all looked forward to. by sandsbebe (Wed 2nd Nov 2022 9:02am)

  • I have seen the odd seal at Dalmarnock , first time I seen one was about 10 years ago. That is indeed a big salmon, you can see the colour and the big spade of a tail, to answer pincelephant, there is now a very good run of salmon in the Clyde and of course to get to the spawning grounds around Rosebank, they need to come from the sea all the way past Glasgow and all the dirty bits. There are also many other fish, the Clyde is really not dirty in the way it used to be. The real question is how the hell do seals get past the weir at the Green? by sandsbebe (Sun 13th Nov 2022 2:43pm)

  • I lived there for 4 years, I was lucky enough to be in a block with a concierge station , the place was run down but I was happy in my wee 1 bedroom flat on 14th floor, I had a lock up too with my motorbike in it and only had a few problems, one was when the Lord Provost's car reversed and knocked over my bike (concierge told me this but strangely for a place bristling with cameras - none were pointing that way) and another time on a Sunday morning when I was heading to work - as I walked out the flats I saw a pile of white sand, then another a little further, when I got to my wee Fiesta it clicked - these were range finding throws of irn bru bottles from the top floor...3rd bottle had punched a hole right where the roof and windscreen met so that was scrap. Apart from that the junkies were no problem and I actually miss the flats, they were good times for me. by sandsbebe (Thu 26th Jan 2023 8:59am)

I have to say , what makes these people likeable ,approachable workmates is they can all talk about where they come from and our cultural and appearance differences and joke about it. So when you do make friends, don't be afraid to open up about being Muslim and your country, it helps us all to bond together. by sandsbebe (Thu 26th Jan 2023 9:18am)
  • No other big city I can think of has so many parks then just to top that off it's 30-40 mins to the stunning scenery of Loch Lomond and the Trossachs or 1hr by car to the sea at Largs. In fact on the right day I could walk up the Campsies and sledge on snow then get some fish and chips and bat away the seagulls at Largs 2 hrs later, get a wee ferry to Millport and cycle round it. Is there anywhere else at all you can do similar? We often don't appreciate this enough. by sandsbebe (Thu 26th Jan 2023 12:43pm)

  • Thanks for that , thats so useful, condescending prick, but useful info. by sandsbebe (Sun 29th Jan 2023 10:41am)
  • Thanks for that info, while you are there don't you go doing anything like crossing a road before the green man comes on or doing 34mph in a 30 limit cos some condescending prick might tell you that you shouldn't do that. by sandsbebe (Sun 29th Jan 2023 10:51am)

  • Marc was a workmate of mine, I'm fuckin devastated and still can't believe it, he was an experienced walker/climber and dies slipping on ice on a fuckin well known, well used path , it's fuckin not right, I can't even imagine what his family is going through. by sandsbebe (Sat 4th Feb 2023 9:49pm)
  • Thanks, He was due back on shift on Monday last, he was helping to teach his girlfriend to drive and I was teaching my daughter who was taking her test in between his shifts, the last thing he said was he would find out how she got on when he was next in, I told my wife and daughter about him previously, they were both quite down about it even though they had never met him, he was a sound guy, it just seems unfair, it's hit me quite hard but I just can't imagine his poor girlfriend and family and especially his poor sister who had just started to hillwalk with him. by sandsbebe (Sat 4th Feb 2023 10:13pm)
  • I totally agree with you, ebikes are ok, scooters are hated, possibly since scooters are cheap and wee bams can cause mayhem on them but ebikes are expensive and delivery riders are maybe even worse, riding on pavements and no lights at night etc. by sandsbebe (Sun 5th Feb 2023 8:09am)
  • I know am late, I know I am not giving you the name of a grilled chicken place, but hear me out, this changed ma life... bits of chicken with skin and bone in, rub in olive oil, get those wee jar things of mixed herbs, garlic salt and onion salt rub in and stick in an air fryer for 25 mins, fuckin heaven. by sandsbebe (Thu 9th Feb 2023 8:48am)
  • It's not so much the plans now as they have been put, I remember the proposal for the funicular railway on Cairngorm, the scientific community said that the increased footfall generated would destroy the fragile habitat on the mountain, so the company concerned said they would not allow people out of the walled area at the exit point on top, that didn't last. This development will just creep up the lochside in the future. by sandsbebe (Fri 10th Feb 2023 2:04pm)
  • Me and my wee dog have been doing a tour of Glasgow parks for years and even in the worst kept bits of park all I have seen is discarded cans and bottles. Mixed race in the Southside or West end is a non issue I would say , North in Milngavie the neighbours would probably be curtain twitching and the East end is like most East side/East end in lots of cities. I don't know your race , I work with a Gambian and a Tanzanian and they are a great laugh, the Gambian guy has 2 mixed race boys and he says they have a massive group of friends so yeh, I think you will get on fine here. by sandsbebe (Fri 10th Feb 2023 3:46pm)

  • Started secondary in '76 I only got the belt once for being late but seen many others get it for things like cheek to teachers, it seems mad now, a bit like smoking in restaurants, we accepted that as the norm as well until 2006. by sandsbebe (Sun 12th Feb 2023 9:25pm)

  • I was wrong in my wording - temperature and humidity in the atmosphere causes planets to sometimes flicker and they definitely do flicker. Also your 2nd paragraph just agrees with me when I said when planets are higher in the sky they do not really flicker. by sandsbebe (Mon 27th Feb 2023 7:51am)

I took the wee dug a walk last summer at 9pm (dusk) to Rouken Glen park and was amazed at the amount of families still there, there was even a women's fitness club doing aerobics to some (quietish) music, lots of kids, I think you will find Giffnock very safe. by sandsbebe (Sat 18th Mar 2023 1:04pm)

Except he says no loudly, the other people behind him start to look away/snigger, you blush and mumble your words making it worse, you pretend to put away a book to hide your face but twist awkwardly and fall exposing your work pants (the ones with the hole in them you were going to bin tommorow), everyone is mortified, your supervisor walks in just as you are pulling yourself onto your knees in front of him and tells you HR will be in to see you. (just sayin , what could go wrong?) by sandsbebe (Sat 25th Mar 2023 6:54am)
  • Parks and public areas need to change the wording on the signs from "keep dogs under control" to keep dogs on a lead at all times. Too many idiots think their dogs will listen when they are excited. by sandsbebe (Sun 26th Mar 2023 1:12pm)
  • I have a dog and I fuckin hate dogs, mine is a wee teeny thing that loves people and other dogs...but he is never off the lead, there is no need to have any dog off the lead in an area used by other members of the public, it's not all about you and your fuckin fur baby, it's about common decency and understanding that parks are a common space used by others and some of those others don't like fuckin dogs. by sandsbebe (Sun 26th Mar 2023 10:33pm)

  • Petrol cars are bit cheaper than diesel, diesel gets better mileage. Don't worry about euro 6 unless you go into city centres a lot. 4k is not a lot in 2023 for a car, you will be looking at quite an old car. Cars will typically go to near 200,000 miles if maintained. Diesel cars will last longer than petrol. Go on gumtree and use the filter to max 4k and see whats there. With a dealer you will generally get a few months warranty. Be prepared for the car to look a bit scratched, wee dents. by sandsbebe (Mon 27th Mar 2023 11:08am)

  • Chalk it up to experience and let it go, I really think nothing good will come of this. You will be handing yourself over to the mercy of the police when admitting you did not just walk away. I will give you a little heads-up, a friend who is ex police told me one time a guy and his GF were hassled by a junkie looking guy near King's Theatre, the guy punched him once, cctv operators seen it all and reported to police, my mate and colleague were tasked to find him and spent ages going place to place getting cctv, they got the puncher and he was charged as the junkie guy was deemed vunerable. by sandsbebe (Thu 30th Mar 2023 10:37am)
