I used to get the floor in my close soaking with water if anyone tried sleeping in it and they cleared off every time they saw it.

Loch Goilhead is nice, and much quieter than Lomond. Beware of needing a permit in areas though. [https://www.lochlomond-trossachs.org/things-to-see/lochs-in-the-national-park/loch-goil/](https://www.lochlomond-trossachs.org/things-to-see/lochs-in-the-national-park/loch-goil/)

People are shitting on the council for this but remember there's a fucking huge black hole in the budget to fill and its all down to the jokers at Labour mismanaging the city for years.

When I was at University, not Glasgow mind you, I would just find an empty room and study there. Do they have timetables on the doors? You'll surely find one that is empty that you can use.

Your landlord is a dodgy bastard. You have to pay council tax if you live in the city, unless you're a student, as they're exempt.

Good luck getting your landlord to do anything if it needs all landlords to chip in to fix shit. We had all our drains blocked, landlord sent a plumber, they broke a pipe on the outside of the building, which cleared the blockage but sent all wastewater into the back close area. Every time anyone above us or ourselves used water, it all flooded the back area. Some landlords didn't agree to pay up to fix it because apparently no damage was being done, but the person living on the bottom floor had to keep their windows shut otherwise their house would get flooded, not to mention water seeping in the actual close and to peoples doors. p.s fuck landlords

Find a community on Facebook or otherwise for your nationality? Most major cities have them. What about starting a day meetup here? You could be king/queen of them all. Also expat...might need to drop that patter since its tinged with ideas of being better than a bog standard immigrant. Its not bad to admit you are an immigrant, and we love immigrants here.

You've got all the good advice so far. I got kicked out just before my 18th. I registered as homeless immediately, and ended up surfing couches instead of taking on offers to stay in dodgy BnB's that I got offered (plenty experience of those with homelessness as a kid with my maw). I waited and waited for news of a place to stay, but never got any contact. Eventually went to visit the homelessness office out in Balornock, got told I'd had a wee council flat earmarked for me for a few weeks but they couldn't get a hold of me because nobody had noted down my phone number. Ended up with a 1 bedroom place on Parnie Street, right in the city centre. £190 a month rent! Got a job, worked for a couple years, went to college, went to University and now I'm here, all successful and that. Chin up! This happened to me 10 years ago but there's always a way forward. Just know that it definitely isn't the end.

Its legal ID (PASS logo, [http://www.pass-scheme.org.uk/](http://www.pass-scheme.org.uk/)) and lasts you until you're 26, so any bouncer that knows their shit should be letting you in. Unfortunately, as per the responses so far, nobody really knows about it and when I used to use mine, none of the cunts I showed it to understood it. Easily fineable offence if the venue doesn't let you in or let you buy age related products when using it, though. Can always grass them up for it.

This was years ago when I did my personal license but if a place refuses to let you in, they have to do it on grounds they believe you're not suitable for the place, as in you're drunk, liable to cause shit, etc. They can't just blanket refuse to accept PASS ID. Might have changed since I done it (2009 or so), but it was part of the test to be aware of fines to the venue/security if they're sitting there blanket refusing the ID.

Once caught a guy taking a shite in my close doorway on Parnie Street, many moons ago. The door used to be quite recessed. Hands on both walls, squatting with his trousers round his ankles. I was coming in and he pulled his trousers up, said sorry and moved so I could get in. Next day, a big smearing of shite where the close door swings. Those doors are now flush with the building face.

Calton includes the homes between Morrisons and Glasgow Green, which are all alright stuff, if you can find any to rent. Any further towards the health centre and Bellgrove train station and it gets a bit more dodgy. Its a mixed area, honestly. It'd probably get them shot down because its not anyone in the march that is causing trouble, but provocateurs on the outside trying to stir up trouble. That's the argument they always crow, when we know the source of the problem is continuing this "us vs them" sectarian mentality by having these marches.

I used to phone 101 when in Edinburgh to deal with a noisy as fuck AirBnB next door. They'd be out in no time and the noise would end. After 4 or 5 incidents in a row, the cunt who owned the place lost the ability to rent it out like that. Worth giving that a dial if council options arent helping.

CCTV rarely stops wallopers, I think. Its best if you have a back close you can lock it up in, as its more effort to get into, but if some jake sees you taking it through there, its very likely they'll plot to nick it at some point anyway. I hate the state of theft here.

I'd always be wary of landlords saying utilities are included. You'd have no control over your supplies and you've got to rely on them to get it sorted, such as internet going down, water going off, power outages etc. For advice on minimum terms, stick with the experts at Shelter: [https://scotland.shelter.org.uk/get\_advice/guides/renting\_privately](https://scotland.shelter.org.uk/get_advice/guides/renting_privately) They've helped me with advice on dealing with dodgy landlords and the differences in contracts.

Remanding him in custody pending sentence, Sheriff Lindsay Wood said: "These convictions were a course of criminal contact involving young girls who were affected in a variety of ways. I spend barely anything on food. Get yourself a slow cooker and you can make huge batches of tasty stews, curries and all sorts for a tenner a week, more if you want to use meat. Shopping at Aldi or Lidl helps keep costs down because theyre well cheap and often better than big name places. I don't drink or smoke though. Always wondered how people have the money for that nonsense.

Further to this is the difference in nutritional content of own brand stuff versus brand name stuff in supermarkets is almost negligible. Oftentimes youll find less sugar and salt in own brand stuff, and everything else is the same. Never be afraid to buy own brand. You'll save so much dosh.

The Gorbals probably got the best of it. Norfolk Court, Stirlingfauld Place and Sandiefield Road flats getting done away with and replaced with fancy new housing has eliminated nearly all the dodginess of the area. Sure, some bits of land are still derelict, but you can be certain thats all down to some rich cunt squatting on the land. Shame the house prices probably rip the arse out of you, and they built much less home capacity in comparison to how many lived there before.

The only way I got rid of junkies in my close when I lived on Parnie Street is when the cops asked for a witness statement to my downstairs neighbour being a drug dealer. Once he was away, they just stopped coming back. Absolutely nothing else worked. Tried chasing them, tried calling the polis, just pernicious bastards who don't have the decency to leave a living area alone.

I remember being taken there in the 90s as a wee kid. My step-da was a drug dealer and would leave me at his friends cafe while he did his business. It was inside the bit thats now a fancy restaurant. Always got plied with ice cream sundaes and cheeseburgers for free. There was a wee shop in the same building that sold counterfeit games and I was always intrigued but never bought stuff. I also remember a donut stall, that I always wanted to get stuff from but never could. Used to be so busy but nowadays its a total ghost town. Choking with people, stall sellers belting out prices, haggling, rough types laughing like fuck as they shared a bottle on the pavement edge, and the inevitable bolt when the cops showed up.

Local government can prevent those problems and its the fault of shitty local regs for allowing that shite. 81 deaths with an unknown incubation period, and the majority are in the high risk age range of death for flu, 65+. Couldn't be arsed finding Scottish figures because I thought maybe there'd be UK wide ones but nah. You ought to reflect on my Brass Eye comment to perhaps understand why you come off as a total walloper. You're parroting typical right wing shit regarding "rape gangs" and all the rest of it, but funnily enough, white people sexually abuse kids too. That's always swept under the rug though, because it doesn't get knuckleheads like you reaching for the pitchfork storage facility. You're being swept up in media hype and emotion. Of course its an abhorrent behaviour but its definitely not a behaviour exclusive to immigrants or people of a specific shade. Remember that the Catholic church has its own scandal with abuse to deal with, as well as fitbaw clubs having issues with abuse and coaches. Also, it was stated its the first thing that came to their mind when seeing an article about asylum seekers and sexual abuse. Its their own personal comment on society, yet you immediately began parroting the right wing shit as if they're trying to downplay sexual abuse. Away and fuck off.

You must drink a pint of bleach every morning because you sure show a lack of tact in your thinking. Only right wing publications have covered the case so far, and someone points out the very obvious reason why, yet you immediately get mad about someone understanding why reporting has been relatively muted on it? You sound like a zealot with a wee chip on his shoulder regarding race, as if the government selectively allows paedos to claim asylum in the country to enable them to commit paedophilia. And my Brass Eye comment is 100% pertinent. If you treat it as "comedy", you're thicker than I thought. Paedogeddon was made to reflect the insane zealotry shown by the press over paedophilia. How there can be no reasoned debate over how to treat such people, or handle the aftermath of such acts, because of pitchfork-loving troglodytes like yourself being led on by tabloids. Hold back on guzzling the sodium hypochlorite for a few days and maybe your brain will clear up enough to understand why your reaction was stupid as fuck. If not, perhaps you're just a racist.

Not caring about where you'll get a place is key. Apply everywhere. I was homeless (granted it was 10 years ago) but registered for absolutely everywhere and the offers flew in. Managed a council place in the city centre, studio flat, cold as fuck but it was better than being homeless.

Glasgow has music in abundance, of all types, and is the first stop for bands that want to play the country, so you'll never be short of gigs to go to of all sizes. Skateboarding, theres Kelvingrove skatepark (look up the park if you dont know it) and its always rammed, and you'll usually see skaters practicing in the city centre around the Gallery of Modern Art. We've got fuckload of museums and art galleries, so you won't be lacking for that here. World famous architects came from here, and we've got the School of Art, though badly damaged it still teaches students and draws artists to the city. Culture, there's festivals on throughout the year, and you've got Edinburgh just an hours train away so you can visit for the Fringe but not have to live there and deal with the disruption. Plenty bars to brood in too, as Glasgow loves a swally. Teetotal myself all my life so I'll never understand the appeal of bars, but we have plenty. Hiking, you're sorted. You could look into munro bagging as a new activity. Plenty groups set up to do it on social media platforms. Occult? Don't know much there myself. We've got history of witches and folklore I suppose. You'd have to dig a bit deeper than I can advise. We're a really diverse city that can offer almost anything while still being affordable to live in. Sure the weather is sometimes shite but thats liveable as long as the people are good, and we are.

World class university, so you'd be daft to give up the chance. We have absolutely oodles of museums and the majority of them are free. Art galleries and otherwise pouring out of our ears as well. Our weather is probably the biggest problem for foreigners, but its not that big of an issue if you're from somewhere like Seattle, where it'll be comparable. Culture-wise, we're cheeky over here, so as long as you can laugh at yourself like we can laugh about ourselves, you'll be fine. A lot of Scottish culture is kind of hidden away by Scots thanks to the Scottish cringe. You'll find ceilidhs across the city though, some bars having them every weekend (one on King St does, Avant Garde I think), while some may be held as events by societies. Cumbernauld is generally a grim area. Some parts of the country have never fully recovered from the lack of investments made in them after they were built. Many small satellite towns like it were made to rehouse people who lived in the slum tenements of Glasgow, and were moved there, away from all the jobs and their social circles. A half-century and more, deprivation is still felt within these areas, and has coloured the people to be very territorial and unwelcoming.

Fond memories of crossing this with my maw as a kid, jumping in the middle to shake it and scare fuck out of her. She'd grab the sides and beg me to stop while I cackled, and she'd end up laughing with me while trying to chase me, calling me "a wee get". Such good times.

'mon down Glasgow Green after 7pm and I'll teach you Shodokan Aikido. ...I'm wishing, really. I trained in it at University, up in Dundee and also in Edinburgh, got my 1st Dan, coaching certificate and then ended up moving to Glasgow with no clubs in my style (think judo over absolute traditional Aikido, we do sparring and they don't), and would love to run a club. Haven't trained in ages though, pandemic, location and all that. God its good to get a wee wrestle in every so often.

I managed to survive swine flu back when that was a thing, and I'd rather not get struck down with something worse because people can't take shut seriously. The people in this inage are super irresponsible. The reason you wear a mask is to prevent the usual moisture exhalation so you don't infect others. Its common courtesy but the clips I've seen online, theres an incredibly low level of mask usage. We really need to knuckle down on this shit or we'll still be here, same shit, next year.

When I was a kid, my mum let from them. Once had a pipe burst above our kitchen and flood it. They didn't fix it for weeks. Couldn't run upstairs water in the bathroom without starting a flood again so I spent the whole time not washing because it made my mum break down badly every time it occurred. I'd just started secondary school and the bullying was horrendous because of it. Would end up trying to wash myself in the sinks at school but it was never enough. Basically, fuck them, they're scum. Theres still quite a large part of the population unvaccinated, and we have more contagious variants going around, which have yet to be understood in terms of efficacy versus a vaccine. Guess you're the type of toilet water drinker who doesn't understand what "herd immunity" actually means. With persistent avoidance to vaccination being high in society, even at single digit percents, there's still a huge risk of a continuation of the pandemic. You also forget that there's speculation on the requirement of booster shots every year, to avoid new variants getting hold. You need to understand that total eradication is required, not a half-arsed measure where we just let people die because of selfish cunts who want to drink pints. I think its you who needs to attend a biology class again. Go do some reading, fuck sake. https://www.nytimes.com/2021/05/03/health/covid-herd-immunity-vaccine.html

Users in the comments here getting mad about the extension on lockdown, not even worth replying to their utterly smooth brained comments. Cunts would rather see deaths and an uptick in infections so they can get one wee shot at the pub. Personally I'd rather see we all fucking stay in lockdown until we're in the low tens of infections nationwide. Otherwise we're just tempting fate, especially when you see the Tories of all people panic and pick up vaccination because of the presence of the Indian variant. Fuck ye if you think lockdown is hard.

You're a stupid cunt for equating a virus with road traffic accidents. Its not like you suddenly get the urge to go driving if a car drives by you at any point, and then anyone you drive by gets the same urge, until we're all driving around like mental. A virus spreads indiscriminately, doesn't matter if the person is vaccinated or not. People can still catch it, spread it, get ill from it, and you're only creating a breeding ground for ever-worse variants with a cavalier "fuck it, i want drink :(" attitude. We're still nowhere near the vaccination levels needed to prevent things spiralling out of control again. Not to mention that people working in the environments people are so desperate to get back to are vastly under-vaccinated. Aye, fuck it, fling them all under the bus so you can get a fucking pint. It sickens me. Vaccination data here, for your education. You probably need to go take a look at it. https://public.tableau.com/profile/phs.covid.19#!/vizhome/COVID-19DailyDashboard\_15960160643010/Overview

Its awful when theres a bam magnet event on like TRNSMT or the fireworks. Just nothing but fighting in the streets outside and one hell of a fucking state for the surroundings. Litter, graffiti (not even the good kind) and pish all over. When its the Pipe Band Championships or Proms, you see less of that, at least. However, the absolute state events leave the park in isnt cool. Fucked grass, plants and all. Sure, it gets worked on by the council, but it ruins the use of the park for weeks after. Just hold this shite on some derelict land that could be repurposed as an events space, fuck sake. Would be better hosting the events on concrete than grass, especially in a city known for pishing rain most of the time.

Been using dating apps myself but its either a few messages back and forth then silence, or just bots bots bots. Can only imagine its hell as a lassie. Hordes of spice boys looking to get mad wae it and shag anything that moves, disregarding the pandemic situation. I'd just like to get out on walks in parks with people and get to know them but everyone just wants a drink in a pub or has a profile pretending they're some world traveller who is always off skiing or some other shite. Just people not being honest, I suppose, advertising themselves as more than they are.
by
DoubleelbuoD
(Tue 10th Aug 2021 2:33pm)
You're right about the "social lubricant" stuff but I really hate it because a lot of people substitute their personality with the bevvy. i don't drink and never have, can easily see it when a person is just not comfortable being themselves and its sad/grim. I think a walk outside can be nice. Get a chat on and see if shit really kicks off or not. If you can't get along without alcohol, its probably never working out. And once its done? Grab something to eat or maybe go for that drink, but don't crutch on that stuff.
by
DoubleelbuoD
(Tue 10th Aug 2021 4:26pm)
Well, you can go to one you've never been to before, go out and enjoy the weather if its decent, if the person is new to the city you can gie them a tour of our famous green spaces, take a pet out if one of you has one thats walkable, etc. Parks can be more versatile than people give em credit for. I just think drinking culture is bad, famously abused by our society. Its just rotten and always hope people will look oast crutching on a drink, though i suppose you could always opt for a non-alcoholic meet.

Only nuisance is the orange walk but that pollutes the city in general, though thank fuck they've not been at it since the pandemic began. Also I'd advise the Gorbals/Hutchestown/Oatlands area as well. Quick cursory look at Facebook marketplace for rentals and theres a good number going below 700 a month.

A weeb is shorthand for weeaboo, a corruption of the word Wapanese, used to describe infantilised people who are obsessed with Japan to an unhealthy level. Good guys with guns is a stupid idea and it leads to many deaths in countries that believe in it. Anyway, the cops have their batons at the ready for a knife attack. A knife attack requires no draw, which is why they have their batons couched on their shoulders. They can crack down on the arm in any section and guaranteed you'd find it hard to keep hold of your knife and get through any stabproof vest the polis wear.
by
DoubleelbuoD

Aye, and that's why the cops here are useless, they're all dead because everyone whips a knife out. Stop panning for guns to become normal in Scottish society. Its a fucking mentalists wet dream. The cops clearly have training to keep a minimum distance and they clearly understand the point of keeping a weapon couched instead of risking adding draw time into the motion of striking.

You'd have to be a rocket to think that one happens at the same time as the other, all the time. High infection levels means transmission is possible, leading to mutations, and another deeper level of pandemic. Can't wait for the next dangerous mutation so we all see more lockdowns and even more deaths, until the next vaccine, then repeat repeat repeat, all because cunts want to "get back to normal". The "normal" people knew is fucking dead, and has been for a long time.

There's a mental occult shop on High Street, and you could also go to the nearby Necropolis for a wander, and also Glasgow Cathedral too. One mans terrorist is another mans freedom fighter. Ireland was invaded by the UK and ravaged for the longest of times. Hunger strikers were just people who got sick of that, and fought in as many ways as they could to protest the continued stranglehold the UK had on Ireland. If you're gonna get ass-blasted about a single hunger strike memorial march, maybe you ought to make it a little less obvious that you couldn't care less about the numerous crimes the UK state committed for centuries in Ireland, which have marches organised in support of those crimes, in multitudinous fashion every year.

Aye, they did all that bombing, completely unprovoked by the UVF and UK government action to supress pro-unification protests, aye? Gusty Spence and his mad campaign to kill anyone pro-unity had absolutely nothing to do with causing the 60s and onwards troubles, everyone was just pally up until that point. They're not raising my rent, they're just punting it up by an incredible amount for no reason, so the next person gets sucker punched by the leech that is landlordism. I'm leaving at the end of the month anyways. Speaking with the guy who came out and did the viewings for the agency, he blamed COP26 as the reason for the increase. Apparently they can't "compete" with other agencies if they don't raise their rent? Stupid nonsensical landlord bullshit.

Absolutely mental stuff. The prop manager is gonna get their cunt kicked in over this, for sure. No idea how you could actually hand a live gun over when its meant to just be a prop. Things always ebb and flow in different ways. When I was a teenager, getting asked what team you support, or simply just wearing the wrong colour in the wrong area, almost always ended in a fight with a knife appearing at the end. Nowadays, that stuff is much less of a focus or danger. However, things like homelessness and drug addiction have gone wild thanks to the decline of the UK, which Scotland lacks the power to manage in its entirety. Its shite but maybe one day we can get out from under the thumb.

Worked enough sweat shop call centres and never bothered for promotion because the pay was always marginally better compared to the workload increase (managing mostly feckless people while getting piled on with customer abuse because you're now "the manager"). Just awful jobs in an awful industry. Can't imagine trying to make it a career at all, especially with how targets get set continually upwards and you're always stressed oot meeting those.

Haha, the gaps in calls actually got me started in learning Japanese, which led to my current job, teaching English in Japan. Used to memorise 10 kanji, wait until my next call was done, then see if I could remember the meaning and reading. And aye, I guess. I just don't trust the security to be there. Last place I worked had 3 different consolidations with other companies, laying off a lot of people in the process, with jobs outsourced to Romania in the end. Then there's the fear of contracts being dropped by clients, losing jobs, etc. Can probably tell I hate call centres.

Shop looked like it was dragged right out of the early 20th century. Humming of leather and polish, he'd repair anything and everything. Used to cost absolutely fuck all too. Many many many pairs of Docs and New Rocks taken in there for zips, soles, insoles and all the rest of it repaired.

Sadly not a Glesga problem alone. Moved to Japan, and there's this wee group of fannies who will gather up outside the school I teach at and rip around in their modified cars and motorbikes, making a racket. They always turn up during night school classes, see the lights on, and decide to hang around even longer, making it so nobody can hear each other in class, even with the windows shut. Local polis don't do anything because there's technically nothing illegal happening and its just "bored kids", since we're rural. You're probably best getting a local politician in on it. Used to live on Parnie Street and I was coming home from a late shift one night. Went to turn into my close and a guy was squatting, hands on each wall of the side of the close entrance, having a full blown shite. He went "Aw sorry mate, ye live here?", yanked his troosers up and stepped aside. Found a shite there the next morning when I opened the close door and it smeared all along the floor. Also once saw 3 or 4 women having a scrap over who got to use the handset in the phone box across from the Fish Plaice. The Cross was always full of mad shit happening.

As a Glaswegian man, I would rather slap my baws into a vice and spin the handle than approach a woman stranger in the street, shop or bar/pub over the prospect of dating. It seems like an insane thing to do because I imagine I'd come over like a pure mental creep. Especially with knowledge of how your average man treats women. I'd rather meet potential partners (both for pumping and long term situations) through dating apps, or pals, or mutual situations (pals parties, clubs, etc).

Sure, you could argue being in a club is sort of advertising you want to meet people, but not everyone does. Some lassies are just on nights out with pals. Its a tough one. Do we allow anyone to get a big and strong breed of dug and then allow them to mistreat it to the point it harms someone? How do we prevent that? Wouldn't it make sense just not to allow such powerful animals in peoples hands in the first place? Big dug lovers/owners will obviously go mental and fling petitions at yer face going "awww naaawwwww breed legislation is useless!" but come on tae fuck! Aye sure, a smaller dug can still maul a wean or a postman's arse cheeks, but the attraction of a big powerful dug to the kind of utter rocket that would love to have something like that, and subsequently mistreat it to the point of it being dangerous, is right there.

You sound a bit mental. Taxation is fine, as long as the services gained from it provide appropriately. If you're allergic to tax, you ought to bolt off to some shitehole in the US, along with those droves you mention. You act like the state is the issue when its basic capitalism at fault, such as private corporations going ham on greedflation causing a lot of the problems you're annoyed about. THATS what needs addressed. A better future is possible if we're not completely obsessed with money. We're under the thumb because the rich keep getting richer, obscenely so.

Others have given you a good enough kicking but I like to stick my foot in as well. Its not NIMBYism to oppose capitalism like this. We have plenty other places housing could be built. You know 100% that these houses won't be affordable for your average person, and only a small percentage will be classed "affordable" so they can get the permission to construct them, meaning they'll still be expensive as fuck. Luckier still if some are classed as social housing, but that's rare as fuck. What we really need to do is get converting brownfield into homes, not using fires as excuses to re-develop places for rich cunts that squat on the land, waiting for opportunities.

Can't remember the name of the scheme for the life of me but in 2009 or thereabouts, I had a job through a government scheme working at the GFT. Pay was ludicrously good and I had a council house in the Merchant City because I'd been homeless. 190 quid a month rent on Parnie Street! Mind you, had to deal with constant jakies from the courts but it is what it is. The job wasn't too bad but I used to get pretty bad anxiety palpitations from dealing with how busy it got at times. Other than that, tonnes of slooooooow days manning the empty bar or ushering the same French divorce drama 5 times a day. Got free tickets for my pals and made them discover the wonders of weird world cinema that wasn't just Hollywood over and over. Was on the job with some other people on the same scheme and made good friends with them, had a laugh. Can't say I miss working with the general public though. People are fucking rockets!

Weegie transplant now living in Japan. Its 100% a tiger mosquito. They congregate around stagnant water of any amount, so that could be a puddle outside, a bucket full of water, or a clogged gutter. They go out around 8pm to search for a blood meal to properly get their eggs fed before being laid in said stagnant water. I imagine this wee bastard was out earlier than 8 though, considering Scotland is far colder than Japan. They don't fare well with wind, or direct sun and very high temperatures. When it gets to the upper 20s here, after sundown, the wee arseholes are fucking everywhere, especially indoors! Sleeping is a nightmare, but you just need a big mosquito net propped round your bed and you're sound. I'm amazed to see one in Scotland, though. Could have managed to stow away on some fruit from abroad, perhaps. Life cycle involves three weeks as an adult, plenty of time to survive transport, since they don't really feed like we do. They only have a 200 meter zone they'll wander around in from their chosen breeding grounds, so they've probably just wandered in through an open door or window. They don't infest in the same way something like a termite or a cockroach would. Anyway, hope that was educational.

I am surprised. People ought to think about the background to the case and how the prison system actually works. The guy pled guilty, the judge would take this as at least remorse for the actions, and its well understood that locking someone up for really long periods of times results in hugely increased chances of speedy recidivism once released. The idea that people ought to be locked away eternally is senseless. Its retributive and gets nobody anywhere. Rehabilitation is key here. If the cunt behaves himself, gets out and disappears into the background noise of society, we're all for the better here. If he re-offends, his record will stand to make him receive a larger punishment.

Long-term incarceration is strongly linked with recidivism. Go ahead, look it up. Prison terms that are overly punitive only lead to people falling deeper into crime when they get out, regardless of the crime committed.

I cannae believe that exact part of Sauchiehall Street in the thumbnail is just a bombshell with closed businesses. I can understand that when you get to the vehicular part of Sauchiehall Street that you lose the kind of traffic the pedestrianised bit has, especially since its uphill to get to a lot of it, but businesses there are definitely contributing to the constant decline of the area by packing it in and not even putting an effort in to at least make the outside look respectable. You need to plug it into the console to do any Safe Mode operations. Controllers won't operate in Safe Mode without being hooked up via USB. If the controller isn't being recognised, try another cable. Happens all the time. Source: Used to work PS Support Europe-wide, until a year and a bit ago, and I'd be screaming ma heid aff on mute at people who just wouldn't follow the simple instructions I was giving to sort their problems out, because they'd say its too much of a faff about. Amount of times I've had Italian maws shouting "PRONTO" at me on the phone, as if I could reach down the line and physically do what I was asking them to do, is innumerable. [https://www.playstation.com/en-gb/support/hardware/safe-mode-playstation/](https://www.playstation.com/en-us/support/hardware/safe-mode-playstation/) You'll probably need to reinstall the system software, depending on the problem. Doing this commonly sorts most shite out, though. Guidance can be found at the above link. You'll need to stick the system software on a USB stick using a computer, selecting Option 8. It'll wipe the console clean so any saves that haven't been backed up to PS Plus, if you're a sub, will be lost. You can sign into any accounts you have afterwards to redownload digitally bought games and the like. So glad I'm oot that job, but godspeed to you getting it fixed for your wean.

Take note it absolutely has to be a DualSense controller to operate Safe Mode, third party controllers won't work. A DualSense is the PS5 standard controller, just for reference. Mind and try the other ports on the console if the one you try first doesn't give you a reaction. You can also try resetting the controller too. There's a wee hole on the back you can push a pin into and hold for 5 seconds, which will reset it. Shouldn't entirely be necessary but every little helps.

Sorry, live on the other side of the planet now so slow response. No certain port is required for plugging in the USB stick. You sound like you're on the right track though. Definitely got a folder called "PS5" on the USB stick, and an "UPDATE" folder inside that? Make sure the file is called PS5UPDATE.PUP, all caps for all folders and file. If yes, triple check you got the reinstallation file and not simply the update file at this link: [https://www.playstation.com/en-gb/support/hardware/ps5/system-software/](https://www.playstation.com/en-us/support/hardware/ps5/system-software/). Both the update and reinstallation file have the same possible name, which is beyond fucking stupid for Sony, but they've got their heids up their arses sometimes. Wish they were different. As a precaution, I would delete any update files you might have on your computer and USB stick, then download the reinstallation file and whack it on, then go through the process again.

Used to live on Parnie Street and had a good view of the phone box opposite the pet shop on the corner. Many a night sat at my kitchen window, watching what went on there, as my dinner cooked. Favourite was watching 3 women all having a right good stooshie in the box, scrapping for the receiver. Never caught why. Used to work late when I lived there, so I'd often come home around 1am. Once caught a guy with his palms on the close entrance walls, trousers round his ankles, half squatting, curling one out. He pulled his trousers up round his knees and shuffled out the way, went "Aw ye live here mate?", being nice enough to "let me in". Next day, there was a big 90 degree angle smear of shite from where someone had unexpectedly opened the close door and brushed his shite all over the tiles. Had my house door attempted to be opened innumerable amounts of times when I lived in that close too. The courts nearby always meant there were junkies hanging around, and they'd go up and down the stairs all day, trying all the handles, hoping a door was open. Whenever I heard footsteps coming up, I'd pause my video games, get up oot my chair and stand at the door, waiting for the tender turning of the handle. Locked as it was, they weren't getting in, but I'd give my best and loudest BOO when it happened. They'd belt out the close like they were playing chap door runaway, and I'd watch them run in the direction of the Fish Plaice from my kitchen window. Never felt like it meant anything to report it to the polis, because they'd always be back it by tomorrow, and were long gone in the day before anyone cops showed up to ask about it. Only time anything actually happened to improve the area was when the drug dealer I lived above got chucked oot by the housing association (aye, its mostly council houses on Parnie Street!), after a load of us in the close got sick of him having junkies round at all hours. Reported it to the HA and he was out on his ear in a couple of weeks once they'd "investigated" it.

Calling the Barras the "East End" is mental. Good spot for it, though. Probably hard to obtain real estate for this kind of thing next to the pharmacies that dole out methadone on Argyle Street, where drug deals are likely occurring too. Every study with safe injection rooms has shown they help immensely. About time we got this rolling, and thank fuck the Tories didn't stick their nose in and try to stop it. Probably hoping it goes tits up and they can pin it all on the big bad nationalists, once again.

Just say you hate the policy and piss off already. It has to go somewhere, and you're best putting it in the place where people buy and sell. The Barras is an obvious shout. By providing a safe space where people can use, you invite them to go into counselling on addiction, reducing use in the end. Injection rooms have proven themselves countless times world over, and its about time we got one in a decent location like this

You keep up with this absolutely shite "invite them into your home" patter. It means fuck all. I'm fine with safe injection sites like this. They're a necessity when you have a drug death rate that we have. People in the area might piss and moan about it being there, but would they like the alternative? The area is historically, and still today, rather crime-borne. You'd have to be an idiot to buy a home there or move there without accepting that in the future it may get worse. These imagined concerned citizens can fuck off to Bearsden if they're worried about that.

This was always how it worked. Went to Shawlands in mid 2000s. Every other day, there'd be a gang of Hillpark weans at the back entrance to Shawlands. If you had Maths last period, you'd be greetin because guaranteed there'd be a fight for you to go through or try to avoid. Maths building right next to the back gates. They wouldn't let kids out the front if they had Maths last because the exits were too small up the front doors, you'd get a rattling off a teacher if you tried heading that way. Other days, Shawlands neds would head over to Hillpark to do the same to them. Was always absolute chaos and I never understood why the two schools had problems with each other, but its likely to just be something stupid like them being neighbours. Had a pal who lived in Thornliebank and he had to get a bus that went by Hillpark to get home. The few times I went to hang out at his, it was like a zombie apocalypse. Driver pure flooring it down the road while tonnes of clatty Hillpark weans are hitting the windows with anything they can get their hands on. They used to make human chains across the road to get the bus to stop, jump on and start battering anyone in Shawlands uniforms.

Went to Shawlands Academy in the mid 2000s. As a teenager, the area always seemed really nice, but I grew up in the Gorbals and Castlemilk so take that for some perspective. Loads of cafes, pubs, clubs, different shops, supermarkets and all that within reasonable distance. Queens Park on the doorstep too! Houses seemed really nice, mix of big fuck-off spacious places and wee houses above the shops. Street layout seemed a bit mental to teen me, lots of dead-ends and really tight wee streets that people have parked like cunts on, making it impossible to move a car down. I know for sure that in that period, there must have been so many people raging about Shawlands Academy weans at lunchtime. Out we came, pouring into all the cafes (especially the Greggs) screaming, shouting and generally being the wee arseholes teenagers are.

This is ancient, but I used to work the Next in the Glasgow Fort. Was such a fucking shambles. My first proper job, was left solo on the tills in the Home department during Christmas. Did my best to manage all the sales and returns I could, but without adequate access to the systems, I couldn't do them all. Had to try and summon staff from elsewhere to help me, and thankfully all the queue were super nice to me about it. They all gave the boss an absolute fucking walloping when he showed up, gave him right good lip about leaving teenage me alone to handle it all. Once got told by the boss prick to build a wardrobe for display. Couldn't get some of the dowels to fit the holes, and he got agitated about it. Took one from me, forced it into the hole and split the absolute fuck out the shite MDF board that the wardrobe consisted of. He went off in a huff and said we didn't need it anymore. There's plenty of neds who got reformed from all the fighting. For instance, [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Graeme\_Armstrong\_(author)](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Graeme_Armstrong_(author)). I knew plenty of weans who cut about in those circles, and ended up out, but just about as many who either died or ended up in jail. You might remember Aaron McConville, the fanny who boasted about a murder he committed on YouTube, sending himself to jail. I grew up around him and the fannies in that gang the Young Sooside Cumbie. Just because the poster made some very good observations as to why ned culture died out doesn't mean they're suspicious. People Make Glasgow doesn't even need to be a finished sentence. The point behind the slogan is that the city is what you make it, both your own viewpoint on it, and what the people within it actually do. It flies right over the heid of so many people, its astounding.

The water feature idea is insane. The city is cold for the majority of the year, so having wee plink plonk shoots of water out the ground is dumb as fuck. Would make sense in a place where things get hot for most of the year.

Odd concern for one cat when there's probably a tonne of stray cats around that area, and might even just be someones cat in the first place. There's no need to work yourself up over it. If you don't see it again, its probably back where it belongs, whether thats its own territory, or on someones couch. If it was a stray cat, I wouldn't be touching it anyways. Probably manky as hell. And hows it a he anyways? Its a cat, gender doesn't exactly come into it.

This post is lacking a lot of info that would help. You trying to do it for a business? Personal home office? If you're doing a home office, just get some powerline adapters that have wifi capability. They'll transmit your internet connection through the power lines of your home, allowing you to obtain wifi/an ethernet connection in other rooms. If you're doing it for a business, and you're asking on Reddit? Your business probably isn't going to do well.

Absolutely can't stand to see someone do something about anything, always gotta bring up something else about somewhere else to try and defeat the point. Making your voice heard in such a way is a valuable part of democracy, and cunts in Westminster ought to take notice of it. Low 80s when gaming doesn't mean much without knowing about your case, its airflow, the settings of the game you're playing, etc. That's actually a somewhat reasonable temp if you're really pushing things, like gunning a raytraced game through its paces. Idling at 60 though, woaft, that's a real issue. As others have said, its probably your GPU needs a re-pasting. However, before that, I would check your fan curves. There's a myriad of software out there to do this. Its possible that your GPU isn't actually cooling itself down appropriately, leading to your situation. A completely uncooled GPU is going to blow itself up tae fuck if you try doing anything. MSI Afterburner is the best for managing and monitoring your fans on your PC. Here's a guide: [https://www.pcgamer.com/how-to-customize-gpu-cooling-using-msi-afterburner/](https://www.pcgamer.com/how-to-customize-gpu-cooling-using-msi-afterburner/) Before you decide its best to take it to a shop, you're better actually diagnosing this problem yourself. First off, it'll save you a lot of money, and second off, part of the joy of PC gaming is learning how it all works and understanding the insides and out of it all. If you're well and truly stumped after going through all this, then you can consider taking it to a shop, but it should never be a first resort. You'll just waste time and money for yourself, when the majority of PC "issues" can be resolved in a matter of minutes.

All you need is your 3 basic lifts. Squats, deadlifts, bench press. Nip along to that class, give it a go, see how they advise you. If you still feel like you need more guidance, all you need to do is check some videos out on YouTube. There's many solid fitness guides out there. Just try and avoid anything putting their own "twist" on the 3 aforementioned lifts because you don't need to change them up! Just remember the best and most basic lifting advice, form over weight. You want to get comfy with the bar before you start trying to do 1 rep max level stuff. Southside Necropolis isn't hard to get to, and has some famous graves. You probably know Lipton's Iced Tea. The cunt that founded the company is buried there, alongside Alexander Greek Thomson, an architect that designed a tonne of the famed old buildings around the city. [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Southern\_Necropolis](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Southern_Necropolis) Sighthill Cemetary is another that isn't too hard to get to, and is quite sizable. Still used for burials, and if you're lucky, you might see a deer or two hanging around. [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sighthill\_Cemetery](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sighthill_Cemetery) For museums, the Hunterian museum is a must. I think its better than somewhere like the Kelvingrove art gallery and museum, which is what most would suggest at first. Its got a bunch of old as fuck Roman stuff, a section dedicated to surgery and other medical advancements (including some gnarly stuff like tumours and amputated bits and bobs in jars), and an excellent display case of mineral deposits from various caves around the world. You can also wander about the Glasgow University grounds, where the museum is located, which are real nice. [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hunterian\_Museum\_and\_Art\_Gallery](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hunterian_Museum_and_Art_Gallery) Riverside museum is a nice one, if you're into vehicles of all types. Countless cars, bikes, motorbikes, ships, trains and all the rest of it. There's even a recreation of the old 1970s Glasgow subway, using authentic parts from a closed station, an old cobbled street made to look like some time capsule to an even older time in Glasgow, and some other non-transport-related stuff to enjoy. Its huge and will definitely keep you occupied and dry if you need some indoors time. [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Riverside\_Museum](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Riverside_Museum)

People will piss and moan about the state of the city today but when you look at this era, it really was a fucking horrific dump. Progress has been made in so many ways, and aye, there's still more to be done, but at least we crawled out of the hovel that the post-industrial world left us in. Suppose it doesn't help most photos from then are in black and white, but really, that's what it must have felt like. A city of concrete grey, damp, mud and shit. If you've actually tried to use code a machine has produced, you'd be crying. That code still needs people to go through it, check it, modify it, etc. You can't just run it off and put it into production. This all ends up creating more work to be done in the end. AI coding is a waste. Better off with humans.

"For now" is nonsense. These systems are already eating themselves alive consuming AI generated content to train themselves, leading to issues in output, which has led to large swathes of employees in the third world being employed to actually operate "AI" behind the scenes. Theyre just a modern version of the [Mechanical Turk](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mechanical_Turk). Each version of something like ChatGPT is shown to be a clown show very quickly. And how are you seriously gonna sell producing the entire infrastructure of a project through a system that can be predictable in its output? Its a huge security risk. People will absolutely study these systems and figure out how they operate, what they put out, and understand where the cracks may be in things constructed through them. "AI" is a joke and will never be a good replacement for humans. The computational power required is insane, the humans needed to check its output, and even PROVIDE the output to fake it working, are just astronomical in their number. The expense to train a system of your own won't be justified in comparison to just employing a bunch of actual humans. Using another companies systems to produce your own is a security and business risk that doesn't outweigh the convenience. Its a gimmick like blockchain that won't really go anywhere without huge damage to society and business.
