I'm a pretty decent cyclist. I'm fact I've raced at world level so I'm probably more than decent, but let's just say I'm competent and confident on a bike. Despite that, would I fuck cycle on the stretch of the a77 from kilmarnock Road into town. Its an absolute fucking disaster. Cunts in the wrong lane, fragmented bus lanes, cars parked randomly, no signalling etc. Its horrendous that one of the main routes into the city from the south side is so bad. It needs some serious improvements. Huge condolences to the family and friends of the lady who lost her life. Sadly she won't be the last until we get our act together and radically improve cycling infrastructure and attitudes to cyclists by drivers and pedestrians

100% right on the shops BTW. For all the shit Govanhill gets, when you go along Victoria Road it's pretty vibrant and bustling and 99% of the shops are occupied. Compared to Kilmarnock Road which is a fucking dump with boarded up shops and fucking eyesore brutalist architecture (the litter on Vicky Road is heavy shite though)

Popped into the city centre for some shopping about 12 today. Inbred half cut quarterwits, plus those rattling low quality gear, everywhere in various combinations of rangers paraphernalia and Union Jack related stuff. Absolute fucking knuckle draggers. Massive bunch of cunted guys trying to get one of their mates off the ground on Argyll st. Grim.

There's a video that's a few years old now that shows a group of new York cycle couriers stealing their own bikes in broad daylight as an example of how no one gives a fuck. They chain their bikes up in times square etc then film themselves from a distance stealing them with bolt croppers etc. No one gives a fuck. The final scene is them taking an angle grinder to one of their locks. A police car pulls up and asks what they're doing. They say they've lost their keys and the police then offer to help them. Zero questions asked. No one, police included, gives a fuck about anyone stealing your bike. Breaks my heart. I can thoroughly recommend Hiplok locks. Pricey but they'll insure your bike for a couple of extra quid a year if it's stolen while locked with one of their locks

It's a basic loop. Up the a77 through the Mearns. From Eastwood toll roundabout there's a really good cycle lane all the way up through Mearns. Head up to malletsheugh then pick up the old a77 between kilmarnock and Glasgow. Really good proper segregated cycle path all the way to killie. About half way between it's signposted for the wind farm. Take that turning. Bit of a slog of a climb but the descent to Eaglesham is fucking rapid. Then just follow signs back to Glasgow which will bring you into clarkston You can of course do it in the opposite direction

Yeah that’s intriguing. I’m assuming the canal is all filled in and built over nowadays. If I’m reading the map correctly the end of the line is somewhere close to what is now Polmadie. I’m sure there would have been a lot of coal mines in the area then so maybe this was where they delivered the coal onto a train which then transported it up to the canal and loaded onto barges.

This^ I have people I know who post very liberal, lefty things on FB and other social media, yet they also post a lot of anti Catholic stuff (not singling that side of the argument out, I just don't see anti protestant stuff but I know it's out there) No matter how liberal or open minded they are, they've also been heavily exposed to anti Catholic stuff via parents/rangers/orange order stuff growing up. There's one guy that goes on about how disappointed he is with various hate speech stuff, yet he thinks nothing of posting about "fenions","taigs" etc because he was raised as a rangers fan. I can't get my head around it

From what I've read, Australia doesn't exist according to them, because the longest flight from I think Sydney to somewhere in the US, completely disproves their nonsense, therefore Australia doesn't exist and all pilots that claim to fly there are in on it. They also admit every other planet we observe is a globe yet we're on a flat disc. Oh and gravity isn't real, we're being pushed upwards constantly by whatever is underneath the disc we're on. You'll never be able to debate with these lunatics

Ah yes, the old "There's a bin there so any rubbish can be dumped on the ground around it so the rubbish fairies can whisk it away to Never Never Land" I would love to get a hold of the puddle drinkers who do this. My first ever job was John Menzies way back in the mid 90s Number one theft item was decent pens. Not Mont Blancs or shit but Parker pens etc worth maybe a tenner. Never understood the black market for them. Hardly a show off item. Who buys a £15 pen for cut price from a random junkie. I can only imagine the junkies overestimated the market for stolen pens

It's my Mrs place and it's a flat, which she does own. I'm thinking of making the case based on the continual fly tipping. I work from home normally and sit at the front window all day. Last thing I don't night before bed is switch off the plugs next to the window so always see the spot in question late at night. Pre lockdown I would see a few folk in the street putting stuff there but 95% of the time it was empty. Wake up in the morning and you consistently saw almost full house loads of shitty old furniture etc. Definite cheap man with van cunts dumping stuff during the night. Since the lockdown I can see cunts every day dumping stuff. People are fucking cunts.

Ffs. Utter cunts doing their best to put the final nail in the coffin of the pubs. I thought we could always buy booze to take away from a pub? I know the change in the licensing hours a few years back meant you couldn’t buy beers to take away after 10pm but earlier was fine. What about pubs that brew their own stuff that you can buy and take away?

I'm extremely reluctant to get burned again. If the mass job cuts aren't reversed, then once America starts to default on their mortgages en masse in the next few months, the fallout will make 2008 look like a fart in the wind.

The murder or Mhairi Julyan back in 1995. It was the first time a murder ever had an impact on me and was the first in Kilmarnock for 50 years or something. The actual specifics were absolutely horrific and are still upsetting to read. Additionally, in the weeks after the murder before the murderer was caught, the town was on edge. I was walking home from the pub about 11pm on a Thursday night and I became aware of someone following me about a couple of hundred yards behind. Every time I looked back the person would try and hide. I walked on for a minute and ducked into the entrance to a garden with the intention of chapping the door and asking for help. In an instant the scene went mental and 3 or 4 cars screamed out of nowhere, a pile of cops jumped out and huckled me to the ground. They get me up and start grilling me. I was 17 at the time, and was absolutely terrified by some very scary detectives suggesting I might be a suspect in a murder enquiry! Basically the person following me was a cop. The police were doing surveillance work to try and find the killer and clocked me walking home and had followed me. When I started acting suspicious because I knew I was being followed, they got suspicious of me and called in back up. It was a fucking terrifying experience at the time.

It was first come first served really and as soon as anywhere went on the market, there were a dozen viewers. We actually changed our approach. We're now renting a 3 bedroom house in Clarkston for the same price as a 2 bed flat in battlefield/shawlands etc. Double driveway, big gardens, no noisy upstairs neighbours. His agenda? Honestly? He seems like a deeply troubled individual who craves attention and he’s using this cause to boost his own ego. Coupled with some very obvious drug use. For bonus points, he’s a former marine who’s no doubt embittered by his experience in the military, which has made him hugely racist and angry, and he’s taking that racism and anger out on what he sees as a part of his country that’s been taken over by foreigners. He puts a nice emotive wrapper around it like child abuse, which conveniently drowns out any criticism of his antics, because if you criticise him then you’re obviously part of the “establishment” that’s covering it up and/or a paedo yourself. Expect a fundraising appeal soon to “support” his crusade but will actually be for his own pockets

They feel the they can't say why they hate foreigners (the colour of their skin) but if you pin something like child abuse on them then it's no longer racism, because everyone apart from actual paedos hates child abuse. Ended up getting about £15k over the HR value. About Purple Bricks generally, you'll get the visit, home report arranged, pictures taken and ad put online. After that you're on your own. the agents may vary by area, but we paid the up front fee and once the ad was live on Rightmove, the guy was gone like a fart in the wind. Also worked on the dishes. I'm anal about stacking them neatly beside the sink before washing. My Mrs on the other hand leaves them like a fucking shit tip. Random stuff dumped in the sink including knives, the remaining stuff strewn over the worktop. It really tests our relationship

Was sitting in a supermarket car park today waiting for the missus. Car pulls into a spot a couple down from me. Two occupants, both female, one over 60, the other probably 40s. Nice car. Both looked respectable enough. They'd obviously been to the Starbucks because the older of the two wound her window down and launched the plastic lid of her coffee cup out the window along with her sugar sachets and stirrer. We're fighting a losing battle with these cunts

Definitely this. Not sound related but I replaced a bathroom ceiling via this method last year. Old plaster was sagging but it was lathe and plaster. Had this last year when my Mrs was selling her flat. Pretty shabby tenement close. We swept and mopped it and I bought one of the electronic air fresheners and put it on the window sill in the close. The old Jake cunt across the landing from me stole it. He made a living selling shit at car boot sales so it either ended up there or in his gaff. He had previous for stealing stuff. We were completely decorating the place and we got new dining chairs delivered on afternoon. Due to the decoration I left them sitting outside our door. Went to get them later on and discovered they were gone. Searched outside and the other floors but no sign. Eventually chapped the neighbours door and he was raging that I wanted them back. He made up some bullshit excuse about being concerned someone would steal them but he genuinely wasnt happy about trying to give them back. I also had a broom outside the door and he tried to steal that one day. Utter cunt of a man

That narrow strip isn't the cycling part. Fuck knows what it is. I'm assuming it's supposed to be a visual indication that it's shared use in case folk don't see the blue signs on lampposts or don't understand them, but that <1ft wide strip definitely isn't where the bikes are supposed to be

If you want a really nice addition to Linn Park Kinda hard to describe but walk over towards the Crematorium. Once onto the road, head into Castlemilk Woods, wander along the path for about 100m, then branch right onto a barely visible path. You're then into Netherton Braes, an almost unknown area of woodland. There's a rough path that'll loop you all the way round and spit you back into Linn Cemetery. When I was in Clarkston it was my go to escape from the suburbs. You'd think you were in the middle of nowhere when in reality you have Stamperland on one side and Castlemilk on the other, but you'll never encounter another person https://maps.app.goo.gl/LopA89Kcs4sNBA7j9

The word I've heard is the Barclays are already looking to rent some of the space out. As competitors in leased offices end their leases, the arse is going to fall out the commercial property market big style. I work in financial services and blended working is here for a long, long time. If competitors are offering blended or fully remote working and Barclays insist on their folk being in the office, they'll lose existing and potential staff to competitors. When I was still Glasgow based, the guidance we had was each employee cost £10k on top of their salary just to put their bum on a seat with a desk, lighting, heating, facilities etc. The savings from blended working are too big to ignore.

The valuation system was different years ago. Survey and valuation wasnt done until after a bid had been accepted and the surveyors would generally value it at whatever the winning bid was assuming it wasn't daft. With the surveys done up front now it really fucks the buyers. In an ideal world every lender would reapparaise the HR value once the bid was accepted again assuming it's not daft.

Regardless of whether you liked it or not, it pulled a lot of people into the city centre. The cancellation is one less reason to go into what has become a pretty fucking grim city centre over the past couple of years. I've posted this before by my Mrs sold her place last year in battlefield. We were looking at renting around there until we saw what happened to property prices post Brexit/Covid. Flats in and around battlefield were insane. 20/30/40+ viewers, hugely expensive and most being snapped up in minutes. We ended up renting a house in clarkston for about £50 more than a flat in battlefield, Shawlands etc. 3 floors, 3 bedrooms, double driveway, private garden for £850 a month. 10 minutes from battlefield, 15 to Shawlands, much less competition and a much nicer area. Loads of amenities nearby. Basically look further afield than the area you're looking at. Flats are in much more demand, houses less so and not much more expensive

Not to defend them, but the pressure to come into work despite being positive isn't unique to them in the hospitality world. My mates missus worked in a bar/restaurant and she tested positive as did other employees. The owners pressured them to work, which a couple did, and a manager who'd tested positive and visited multiple other bars that the owners owned, was warned not to tell track and trace where he'd been. New build owner here. Been in the house for 9 months. The reasons were pretty much as outlined in other posts. Couldn't be fucked paying 20% over home report for a semi that needed a new kitchen/ bathroom/ full refurb. We were looking around Clarkston and the prices were mental. We ended up viewing some new builds in between EK and Glasgow. Small development of only 60 houses and were surrounded by woodland that will never be built on. Not one of the big housebuilders. So far the snagging has been fine. A few minor cosmetic issues. Structurally everything has been perfect. We're in a very big 4 bed detached with garage, driveway for 4 cars and a very large garden. For what we paid for this, that would have been the "offers over" figure for somewhere around Clarkston for a much smaller property that needed a shitload of work. We don't have kids and won't be having them, so we weren't bothered about any school catchment areas

100% this As someone who has struggled with anxiety for 30+ years (but was only diagnosed in 2015) I've learned from therapy to tune out of the things you have no control over I remember having a near breakdown during the 2008 financial crisis. absorbed every piece of news and commentary. Was convinced the world was going to end, I would lose my job and house etc. Post therapy, the mantra of "don't worry about what you can't control" is the thing I try to remember. I found myself slipping into old routines at the start of Covid but stopped hanging on every piece of news, and my mood improved massively. Adopting the same approach with this Russia nonsense. If they nuke us, there's fuck all I can do

I'm not saying move to Possil but there are much better options out there. A quick look on Rightmove shows a 2 bed flat in Shawlands is £900 You can get a big 2 bed house with garden, parking etc 10 minutes up the road in Clarkston https://www.rightmove.co.uk/properties/120539387#/?channel=RES_LET

I get paid on the last working day and for the first few months, because of the way the weekends fell, I paid the rent on the 28th or 28th as that's the day I got paid in those months On the first month that I didn't get paid until the last proper day, the letting agent emailed us on the 30th asking where the rent was 🙄

Think it was Greenock golf club that was plagued with the young team harassing folk on one particular hole next to a shithole estate. They created a club rule that if the bams were hanging about that hole, you could miss it out and put yourself down as a par. I played it years ago and they were demolishing a huge high rise next to the hole in question, and the bams used to sit in the empty high rise and try to shoot you with air rifles

Not quite. While there's no trespass law in Scotland, we do have the Right to Roam legislation which allows access to most places but private gardens/ houses are exempt (as are other things such as MOD land, land set aside for a particular recreational purpose etc) A gate has nothing to do with it

"Had a couple of gents offer up their outdoor table in a pub even though they had 5-10 minutes of their pints left when they noticed my wife and I somewhat upset as all pubs were busy on Saturday afternoon" I was on a snowboarding holiday in Italy recently. Me and my mate arrived at a busy outdoor restaurant and looked for a table. We spotted a couple who looked as though they were getting ready to leave. 2 people sitting at a table for 4. I very politely asked if they were leaving. Turns out they were English, and the woman looked at me and went "in 10 minutes" and promptly fucked about for a full 10 minutes while we hovered nearby. Both me and my mate said in unison when we eventually sat down, that had we been home in Glasgow, the folk would've invited you to sit down straight away and would have had a great wee chat before heading off.

Used Aaen Peach a few years ago to take my ex wife's name off the mortgage. Without exception, the worst service I've ever experienced. Not just the worst lawyer experience, the actual worst experience of anything I've ever had to do. The lawyer assigned to my case was worse than useless, never answered his phone, took 3 or 4 reminders on every email before he'd reply. On the rare occasions I did get some interaction, he blatantly could not be fucked. The original quote was something like £399+VAT and the final invoice was over £2k. Even then the invoice was full of stuff I shouldn't have been charged for. Along the way they lost my paperwork several times, which meant I had to keep going back to my ex to get stuff re-signed, which was a fucking delight. And the crowning glory was the process should've taken 2-3 months but they managed to drag it out over a year

15 years ago, if you were lucky, then your cousin's pal had an uncle who knew a guy who worked in a place where there was a girl who used to go out with a guy that had a room mate that sold gear. There's been zero confirmation that his brother quit because of this. As for the allegations. I'm entirely supportive of anyone who's been a victim of sexual assault, harassment etc, however the details I read in the Pitchfork summary were extremely sketchy. Very much he said, she said. "Rock star shags fans" seems to be the crux of it, and as much as I'm an arcade fire fan, I never imagined him to be a silver tongued lothario and every encounter sounds as awkward as I would have imagined, but it doesn't make him a predator

When I first hit £60k was the point I no longer felt worried about money. Single (at the time) with no kids. That definitely felt like a game changer. Went from £50k to £60k overnight and the extra was immediately noticeable as a comfortable cushion. Anything since then has been a bonus and I was up at £150k a few years back but even that didn't feel that much more noticeable than the initial £60k experience

Random fact time The term "Dutch courage" comes from when London was plague infested and the only people brave enough to sail up the Thames with goods were the Dutch and as a show of thanks the local taverns and inns would give them free booze, hence why having a drink to calm the nerves is know as "Dutch Courage"

Personal opinions are cool, but the fact the market was busy every single night of the week while it was on would suggest a lot of people did enjoy it. It pulled a lot of people into the city centre that probably wouldn't have been there otherwise, and that leads to increased footfall at shops, bars and restaurants around the market. It's absence is a loss, even if you didn't like it

True story I got a new job and went out for a couple of beers on a Wednesday night with the missus. Ended up in the Spanish butcher and I was quite well oiled. Spied the specials card on the table and decided fuck it, I'll treat myself seeing as I've got a new job. Ordered some steak that was £50... When it came out, it was near enough a full fucking cow. Absolutely enormous. Like the greedy dick I am, I finished the entire thing. I'm sitting sweating at the table when the waitress comes up to clear the plates. That's when the penny dropped. I asked her if I'd actually ordered a steak for 2 people. She said yes but she didn't want to say anything when I ordered it. Which basically meant she knew I was a fat greedy cunt😭

The early 90s had thousands of people from all over Scotland descending on small parochial towns that they'd never otherwise have gone to Hangar 13 in Ayr Room At The Top in Bathgate The Ice Factory in Perth The Metro in Saltcoats The Scottish rave scene. Avoid British Gas. Do not go near them. They were my gas & electricity supplier when I moved into my house in May 2021. I still haven't had a bill off them. I enter my meter readings regularly. They never bill me. They also won't let me change my direct debit from £10 a month. They've outsourced all their call centres to India. I've never had a problem with Indian call centres before, but the BG one is beyond useless. I've tried to explain to them multiple times that I need a bill and to change my direct debit. They just keep telling me my account is still Being set up. The online chat is no better. Thanks to the current situation, I can't even change supplier. I'm banking what I should be paying them properly each month for when the inevitable bill finally comes

I encountered a new level of pish on Xmas night. In laws were at ours for dinner and needed a taxi home at 10pm from East Kilbride to Clarkston. Tried loads of numbers that rang out. Eventually got through to East Kilbride Taxi Owners Association and joined the queue. When I joined I was 40th in the queue but held on anyway as no one else was answering. Eventually after half an hour I get connected and ask the woman for a taxi from EK to Clarkston "Sorry, the drivers aren't leaving the town tonight" Thinking she misheard I assumed she misheard and explained I said Clarkston and that we were at the Clarkston side of EK so it's only a 10 minute journey "No, the drivers aren't going outside the town tonight" I lost the rag and thanked her for letting me wait in their telephone queue for half an hour. Been here before It's a legal tenet known as "joint and several liability". Common in the deeds for new build flats. Basically you're on the hook for a share of damage, debts etc regardless of who actually caused it. You need to get a copy of the deeds but if it's a newer build flat then it's guaranteed to be joint and several liability. If it's older then it's much less likely unless at some point the owners signed up to a new set of deeds

" If on the other hand you're pootling about like you did when you were 10, you'll have (and cause) problems." This is part of the mental barrier we need to break around cycling. Not every ride needs to be a TdF stage. Cyclists should be able to ride along at the pace they feel comfortable with. That's the way it works in the Netherlands, Denmark etc. People in normal clothes rather than lycra, no helmets, riding at a nice relaxed pace and it all works. We need the infrastructure to allow that, which is bikes completely separated from cars and pedestrians that understand shared use paths and what parts of those paths are for cyclists and to stay off those parts, and vice versa for cyclists

The cuts are shite. There are other ways to raise revenue. We should be introducing a tourist/city tax like most sensible places already do. Couple of quid per day. Has to raise a decent amount without being a vote loser. Hard to get exact numbers but Visit Scotland state we had 150 million tourists in 2019. A few extra quid from each of them generates a decent pot of cash that should be ringfenced for public services

Not Scottish woodland but I'm in a new build with some communal ground and a playpark. Each house pays £150 a year for the maintenance which is taken care of by a factor. We only have about 50 houses in the street so that's £7500. Significantly less than you're paying!

I've lived on a new build development for the past couple of years that's still being built. Every single day I've watched the various tradesman on site drop their rubbish with not a care in the world or a thought for the residents. I'm not talking about building materials, I'm talking about them sitting having their lunch in their van and then launching the empty cans, the bag their rolls came in, crisp packets etc out the van window. I've complained to the site manager but it's made fuck all difference. This isn't a diss aimed specifically at tradesmen, but it has been an eye opening insight into the mentality of people when it comes to dropping litter. A huge amount of people simply don't give a fuck. The sight of litter doesn't even register with them, and therefore they don't think twice about dropping it. I genuinely doubt we'll ever change these attitudes

It's been a while since I've read up on private parking tickets but from memory POPLA is an English only body, or at least they were. They had no authority to deal with appeals for Scottish tickets. For what it's worth, I racked up £20k of tickets from P4 Parking (they were ticketing my car when it was parked on my own land🙄). Never paid them a penny and never acknowledged any of their begging letters. This was 10 years ago before that idiot woman lost in court and changed the legal situation. Personally, for one ticket, I'd ingore it. They will not take you to court for one ticket. I would ignore everything they send you

Bizarrest concert experience I had was Steve Howe in Edinburgh back in the 90s. Tiny intimate gig in an old church. Just him on a tiny stage that was only a couple of feet high. The gig was seated with chairs arranged in rows and a space at the front between the front row and the stage of maybe 8-10ft. I was there with my old man and we had seats in the very front row. We sit down and people start coming in. One of the stewards appears with a heavily disabled man in an electric wheelchair. Trying not to be disrespectful here, but imagine Stephen Hawking. Steve Howe comes out on stage, nice polite applause. Just him and his guitar and he starts playing. Your man in the wheelchair then starts zooming backwards and forwards in front of the stage making lots of load unintelligible sounds, grunts and screams. Steve to his credit just keeps going but it's a quiet intimate gig and wheelchair man is the main focus for everyone. From memory he kept it up for the first 3-4 songs before the security stepped in and took him away .. utterly fucking bizarre experience

I had an incident a couple of weeks ago. Was in the car and waiting to turn left at a junction. Just about to pull out when some guy in a pickup truck comes flying round the corner on the wrong side of the road where I was about to drive to. He was trying to get round before a big lorry. He saw me and threw up a hand to say sorry and I threw my hands up to say WTF. He slams the brakes on, winds the window down and starts screaming at me asking what my problem is. Tell him my problem is him driving on the wrong side of the road and nearly hitting me. He starts ranting about how the truck driver had let him turn first. I said that's no reason for being on the wrong side of the road. He starts ranting again at which point I hit out with the classic "fuck up ya cunt" He jumps out the car and starts running at me but the daft cunt trips himself up and goes skidding along the ground, at which point I drive off laughing The level of entitlement with some drivers is insane. Basically whoever gets somewhere first has right of way. I've been driving for 30 years and standards have dropped significantly

Re. The legalities, the reason you can have a steak rare is because the bacteria in beef lives at the surface of the meat not all th way through the cut. Therefore if you cook the outside you kill the bacteria and the internals can remain rare. Obviously if you mince beef up to make a burger then the bacteria can be all through it. Youd have to start with a big chunk of beef, trim the outside off then mince the internal part. That being said, I know you can get beef tartare or steak hache here so I'm guessing they do it for that but it's not economical for burgers

Re. The council wangling it, it's not really anything to do with them. I'll explain... There's a biking discipline called "Enduro" which is a bit like a car rally. Riders follow a big course and get timed over predominantly downhill sections and the lowest cumulative time for those sections is the winner. The pinnacle of that discipline was the Enduro World Series (EWS) and it was setup by a guy from Edinburgh (Chris Ball) along with an Italian guy and some others. That series has been going since 2013 with a bunch of races each year around the world. Last year, the organisers of the EWS got control of other cycling disciplines like Cross Country and Downhill, and they then did a deal with Warner Discovery to take over the broadcast and organisation of those races. This new organisation is based in Scotland and as a result they're in with the worldwide governing body of cycling, the UCI. In turn they've then been able to bring the world championships here for every discipline. As far as I can tell, this is the first time this has happened..for example last year the road race was in Australia, the DH was in France..it's a massive thing to get every single discipline here

£13 million is 0.4% of GCCs annual expenditure forecast for 2023/24 When Harrogate hosted just the road races in 2019, which is a tiny fraction of the number of events and races being hosted here, E&Y reported those visiting spent £22.5m over the course of the event. Given the scale of the events happening this year, the financial boost will be significantly higher than Harrogate and well in excess of the £13m outlay. Obviously the council doesn't receive that money back but the general boost to the economy will be a huge positive

How is it less accessible? I got the train into central yesterday and had zero problem walking round the city watching the race and going to bars and restaurants that were both on and away from the race route. Other than an occasional pause at the crossing points access was never an issue.

The only bits that will be properly closed are the salmon ladder and the rock gap jump. In theory everything else will remain however the course was a mix of existing walking trails, access roads, existing bike trails and brand new bike trails. The new bits are part of a much bigger new section that’s been built to replace the upper trails that have been lost to the new lodges that are being built. It’s a few weeks until all the new stuff will be open, but it’ll be excellent when it’s open

"Why isn't this a bigger deal in politics" Because politics are still predominantly conservative driven. Not as in the Tories, but more socially conservative. Liberal drug policies are a mainstream vote loser. It's the middle third that swings elections and no party wants to alienate them.

In my street, the houses have monoblocked driveways wide enough for 4 cars parked side by side. My neighbours only have one car. They regularly have a visitor who comes by car. Instead of parking on their driveway in the acres of space, she chooses to park half on the pavement, half on the road and to add a cherry on top, she parks behind the neighbours car. She's managed to simultaneously restrict access on the road, the pavement and also block the neighbours in. Some people are just massive thick cunts really

I behave properly when I'm riding..I'm patient, observe the rules of the road and keep my wits about me. Unfortunately I get lumped in with the fucking deliveroo idiots and other wallopers that live by their own rules and behave like such massive cunts that they cause the raging drivers to treat me the same as them. Dunkeld - train up, walk into town, hire from Progression Bikes. Trails are very technical round there with not a huge amount of beginner stuff but a ride out to Loch Ordie via the Cally car park would be doable Aviemore by train. Lots of options up there. Other than that it would be busses. The likes of Glentress would give the most options for a days riding and there is a bus that stops right at the entrance. Be very, very wary of too good to be true car ads on marketplace. This is a scam that’s becoming very common. Here’s how it works Scammers get hold of a legit profile and start posting ads for very nice cars at ridiculous prices Potential buyers contact them and they’re either asked to put down a deposit or worst case the full price They then provide a collection address and the buyer turns up at some random address to find the car doesn’t exist and they’ve been scammed The telltale giveaway is these profiles will be selling dozens of cars and if you look at the adverts, no two vehicles will have their pictures taken in the same places. They’ve basically just stole pics and descriptions from a bunch of random legit car ads. I’m in the market for a camper van and there are loads of these scams on camper vans. I reckon I see 4-5 dodgy profiles every day running this scam

I had an altercation with one of them a few weeks ago. I was walking down Jamaica St at 5:30pm so the place was busy. As I'm walking past the crystal palace I see one of the clowns on an electric bike zooming towards me on the pavement. He flies past McSorleys and I time it perfectly that I get to a point where I'm between the crystal palace beer garden and a lamppost so he has nowhere to get past me. I stopped and forced him to stop (rather than flying through a pavement full of people) and I tell him to get off the pavement and onto the road. He stares at me and says nothing. Again I repeat the instruction to get on the road, he stays silent. I tell him he's riding an electric motorbike and he shouldn't be on the pavement. He absolutely refuses to speak or move so I called him all the cunts under the sun and told him to fuck off and walked on. They're absolute cunts that do ridiculous damage to how decent cyclists are perceived. Out of principle I will never use deliveroo etc because of how these cunts behave

As mentioned there is a legal limit for electrically assisted pedal bikes, which is 15mph. As soon as you hit that speed the motor stops assisting your pedalling. The key word there is pedalling These clowns have either bought bikes that don't require pedalling, you literally press a button to make it go, of they've modified an electrically assisted pedal bike to remove the speed restriction and likely added in a button to make it go rather than having to pedal it Either way these modifications change it from a bicycle to a motorbike/moped which has a whole list of legal requirements these cunts don't bother their arse with

Had a relationship with a woman like this about 20 years ago. She'd go from all caring and cute to an absolute psychopath and then back again. To say it was a rollercoaster 6 months is an understatement. The final straw was she went away for a weekend with her cousin to Aberdeen. She gets back on Sunday night and she's acting weird. Eventually she confesses she met a guy in Aberdeen on the Friday and she got engaged to him on the Saturday. She then flips out and starts battering me with her the cordless phone she had in her hand, screaming, crying and laughing all at the same time. I escaped thankfully and never looked back. She tracked me down on social media a few years ago and from what I can tell in the 2 decades since I dodged the bullet she's had multiple kids to multiple men and a couple of failed marriages. TLDR; fucking run bro

"An MRI scan for a dog or cat is about £3-£4000. However a private MRI scan for a human at the Nuffield is £350. How can this be so?" I imagine the answer is volume. A hospital will conduct a lot more MRI scans on a human in a day so the unit cost can be lower. A vet probably does a lot fewer so charges more to recoup the costs of an MRI machine in a reasonable timescale

It feels like it needs a massive clampdown Big spree of roadside checks pulling them in and checking the bikes first and foremost. If, in simple terms, the bike is found to have a throttle it's impounded instantly and destroyed. Doesn't matter if theyre on their way to do a delivery..If they're breaking the law then action like this will get the restaurants and employers involved because of their customers start complaining that their order hasn't turned up, it'll force action. Additionally, and its not something I'm actually comfortable with, but if the bulk of these people are asylum seekers working illegally, which I'm entirely sympathetic to and needs a solution, surely whoever polices this whether it's the home office or inland revenue would piggyback off this. It really needs a zero tolerance approach that fucks up the business model of the restaurants and delivery companies in order to get a positive solution

I was down as a reference for him and when it came through for me to verify his work details, there was no question about how many hours they are contracted for TLDR: if you're struggling to get accepted for a flat on a zero hours contract, just lie. Not that I'm defending the lineup, because it looks like my personal idea of hell, but as a 45 year old man that almost exclusively listens to pre 1970s blues music, I'm fairly out of touch with the current hit parade. So my question is if you were in charge of a mainstream festival in the middle of a city and you had to curate the lineup to appease the youth, what would it look like? The long distance night trains in Europe are viable due to geography and the ability to navigate around nighttime engineering works. 24 hour urban trains aren't a thing in anywhere I've been in Europe, but obviously I haven't been everywhere so no doubt there will be some somewhere but it's not widespread. I guess trams may run all night in some places. Remember, even a city like London runs a very limited night tube service despite the size and population density of the city.
