  • I’ve got a garage at Port Dundas - Profix Autos. 2 of our mechanics are from Deutschtek at Woodlands and are both VW specialists. If there’s anything we can do to help just shout and I can arrange a new customer discount. by Deminedprincess (Wed 23rd Jan 2019 10:47pm)
  • I’m a fan of Jackson’s on Cambridge Street. There’s a good selection of booze, prices are reasonable, staff are friendly and there’s a fantastic mix of clientele. Oh and the food is excellent and reasonably priced. by Deminedprincess (Wed 23rd Jan 2019 10:51pm)
  • Custom Inc in Finnieston, is just outside the city centre and one of the best studios in Glasgow by Deminedprincess (Wed 23rd Jan 2019 11:04pm)
  • Aaron @ Custom Inc in Finnieston is awesome at black work. This looks like a design he would be fantastic at. by Deminedprincess (Wed 23rd Jan 2019 11:02pm)
  • That’s no problem. It would be £82.50 plus the VAT, for front or back, but I’ll give you a 10% discount on that. If you want to call us on 3325858 and ask for Charlotte I can get you booked in by Deminedprincess (Thu 24th Jan 2019 11:27am)
  • That’s no problem. It would be £82.50 plus the VAT, and I’ll give you a 10% discount on top of that. If you want to call us on 3325858 and ask for Charlotte I can get you booked in by Deminedprincess (Thu 24th Jan 2019 11:26am)
  • PS you can’t beat Wednesday afternoon karaoke in the woodie. It’s what sickies were invented for! by Deminedprincess (Fri 25th Jan 2019 1:04am)
  • I used to live in Firhill Street and I LOVED it! I still own the flat but live in Stepps now, but often fantasise about ditching the husband and moving back there 😂 I also lived in flats at St George’s Cross and Wilton Street, so spent about 15 years there in total. Plus I worked in a few boozers down that way so know loads of people..... I feel a bit homesick writing this ha ha Some people think Maryhill is a bit colourful but that’s what I love about the place. But seriously, Firhill is really quiet and only a short walk from the city centre and the west end. I never encountered any trouble there either. It can be a bit of a mare when the football is on, in terms of parking, but it’s only for a few hours once a fortnight, not a big deal. by Deminedprincess (Fri 25th Jan 2019 1:00am)
  • Yes x 1,000,000. It’s not licensed though (not sure about byob) by Deminedprincess (Mon 28th Jan 2019 10:37pm)
  • I don’t know if you’ve been there recently but we went just under a year ago and it was awful. Won’t be back. I’ve heard others say the same. by Deminedprincess (Mon 28th Jan 2019 10:36pm)
  • Those buses are coming away from Central! I have a soft spot for that bus stop as I lived at the flat right at it for 8 years. Party central in the early noughties........ #99maryhillroad 😎 🥰 by Deminedprincess (Mon 28th Jan 2019 10:43pm)
  • I know it’s a chain but I really rate the Ashoka in finneston. Always has a good pre theatre deal too. I’m shocked at the amount of posters recommending Mr Singhs. I went about 11 months ago and it was really bad! I’m not sure if it used to be good and went downhill? Delhi Dharbar in the ‘Briggs is good, but a bit far out if you don’t want to deviate from the city centre or West End. by Deminedprincess (Mon 28th Jan 2019 10:40pm)
  • Kirky High Street is a strange place. I always feel like I’ve stepped back into the late 90s by Deminedprincess (Mon 28th Jan 2019 10:49pm)
  • At cowcaddens and the bottom of the bottom of Possil abroad there are huge signs that say “unlock your canal adventure”, I’m always amazed the young team hasn’t seen to them yet. by Deminedprincess (Mon 28th Jan 2019 10:48pm)
  • You need to sign up to a monthly contact for a year for the Arlington i think and I’m pretty sure the western has waiting lists for memberships. Try the Emirates arena, run by the Glasgow Club. The spa is pretty awesome and I think you can get a day pass for about £12. Totally worth it and keeps all the riff raff out! by Deminedprincess (Mon 28th Jan 2019 10:45pm)
  • All Bar one is a middle aged swingers paradise, oh and they charge £4.10 for a tequila. by Deminedprincess (Mon 28th Jan 2019 10:51pm)
  • But yeah, avoid Possil, Easterhouse and Govanhill like the plague! by Deminedprincess (Mon 28th Jan 2019 11:13pm)
  • Robroyston is fine. It’s mainly new build family homes. I think it’s *Royston* you’re thinking about, it’s rotten. Parts of Govan are OK actually, but others aren’t. by Deminedprincess (Mon 28th Jan 2019 11:12pm)
  • I guess no one would be complaining if it was £50 for 1 of those. If they play for an hour each I guess it’s a bargain (kind of). by Deminedprincess (Mon 28th Jan 2019 11:23pm)
  • You will have a blast, Glasgow is an amazing city! Do you know where you will be living yet? by Deminedprincess (Tue 29th Jan 2019 8:07am)
  • You will love Glasgow, everyone is really friendly and the nightlife is great. Enjoy! by Deminedprincess (Tue 29th Jan 2019 12:27pm)
  • I’ve seen them a few times, always been blinding. by Deminedprincess (Tue 29th Jan 2019 12:26pm)
  • I am the zoomer 😂 by Deminedprincess (Tue 29th Jan 2019 12:52pm)
  • Always the way. Lucky you’re pretty frequent down that neck of the woods. I remember having to get the 44 to school in the mid 90s, total nightmare of a service! by Deminedprincess (Tue 29th Jan 2019 2:41pm)
  • In fairness most places won’t do a criminal record check unless you’re working in certain sectors. It’s up to you if you declare it or not. by Deminedprincess (Tue 29th Jan 2019 5:51pm)
  • I saw then in 2001 (?) at the Academy and tbh the whole gig was just boring! I felt like I could have saved money and stayed at home to listen to the Mezannine CD! Not sure what I really expected 😂 but it was nothing to write home about anyway. by Deminedprincess (Tue 29th Jan 2019 6:04pm)
  • Body pump is a good class, you definitely feel the difference once you’ve been going for a month or so. by Deminedprincess (Wed 30th Jan 2019 12:27pm)
  • Not sure if it’s your bag but I’ve just posted 2 tickets for colours for sale @ SWG3 on Saturday night by Deminedprincess (Wed 30th Jan 2019 10:23pm)
  • I wouldn’t use the PC World car park, they use a private parking company so there’s always the chance of getting a fine. I usually park round the back of lebowskis pub and custom inc tattoo studios, it’s free after 6 and I’ve always managed to get a space. by Deminedprincess (Thu 31st Jan 2019 9:12pm)
  • PS a lot of people do get stressed out with the letters though and just pay to get it off their backs. I wouldn’t reckoned parking there if you can avoid it. by Deminedprincess (Fri 1st Feb 2019 10:08am)
  • You’re right. My Mum got one just before she died and after her death they kept sending letters even though I called them and told them that she had passed. They said I had to send in an original copy of her death certificate (which costs £10) despite me telling them they could easily check the records with Glasgow City Council. I sent every letter back to them in a box with a brick, with no postage on it in the hope they would have paid it at the other end. Pricks. by Deminedprincess (Fri 1st Feb 2019 10:07am)
  • Where abouts is that? by Deminedprincess (Fri 1st Feb 2019 1:18pm)
  • Yeah it does. I work at Port Dundas and there are always 2 swans we feed at lunch, but they weren’t there yesterday so I’m thinking that’s them! by Deminedprincess (Fri 1st Feb 2019 1:42pm)
  • What’s your budget? by Deminedprincess (Fri 1st Feb 2019 6:44pm)
  • The thing is as with most hotels, the prices vary quite a lot from date to date. You would maybe be best looking on hotels.com and posting a couple that are within your budget and you like the look of and then people can advise. by Deminedprincess (Fri 1st Feb 2019 6:48pm)
  • Aye they do 😂 last time I was there my card statement shows I spent £80 on jaegerbombs and aftershocks. by Deminedprincess (Sat 2nd Feb 2019 12:15am)
  • How old are you? Would student accommodation not be a better idea for the first year at least? Most landlords will require a guarantor or the first six months upfront. You should be able to get somewhere for your budget in an ok area but it won’t be in a fashionable area like the heart of the west end. Perhaps try looking at Kinning Park? It’s not too bad, close to the city centre and there is an underground station which is a cheap and frequent mode of transport to the city centre and west end. by Deminedprincess (Sat 2nd Feb 2019 5:32pm)
  • Now TV subscription. by Deminedprincess (Sat 2nd Feb 2019 8:43pm)
  • I will be filling this out as I think the public sale should be banned, there’s no need. by Deminedprincess (Sun 3rd Feb 2019 9:43am)
  • Register with as many recruitment agencies as you can, there’s always temp work about. by Deminedprincess (Sun 3rd Feb 2019 9:45am)
  • Another vote for temp agencies. They ALWAYS have admin work which would do as a stop gap. by Deminedprincess (Mon 4th Feb 2019 5:34pm)
  • Spin is good as it is hard work but you can go at your own pace as you control the gears on the bike. by Deminedprincess (Wed 6th Feb 2019 12:12pm)
  • Just wait until the young team gets their pens and lighters to it by Deminedprincess (Wed 6th Feb 2019 12:52pm)
  • Or just google bbc wyndford 😂 by Deminedprincess (Thu 7th Feb 2019 9:38am)
  • Stay away from the Wyndford Estate. It’s cheap for a reason. Go for a wander up there at night if you want to make your own mind up. by Deminedprincess (Thu 7th Feb 2019 9:36am)
  • You’d still be looking at about £120k for a decent 2 bed there....... a lot more expensive than the wyndford, but again, that’s for a reason. You won’t get a flat like that anywhere in Glasgow for that price somewhere that isn’t rough as fuck, unfortunately! by Deminedprincess (Thu 7th Feb 2019 10:34am)
  • PS maybe call the parking department and see if they can help, my friend moved into a flat in Partick and they wanted a council tax bill, which she didn’t have yet. I’m pretty sure she explained the situation and they issued a temporary permit? No guarantees but it’s worth a phone call. by Deminedprincess (Thu 7th Feb 2019 12:56pm)
  • There isn’t anywhere free around that area unfortunately. The nearest I can think of is Firhill which is about a 20 min walk. Maybe look online for a rent my drive site or similar and see if you can come to a private arrangement with someone who has a private space and doesn’t use it. by Deminedprincess (Thu 7th Feb 2019 12:55pm)
  • God, yeah..... bloody safestore! They wouldn’t leave me alone after I asked for a quote, total stalker material! by Deminedprincess (Thu 7th Feb 2019 10:21pm)
  • Yeah, Ashley Lane is not a good idea. Those spaces are private. You’re likely to get your car keyed or blocked in. by Deminedprincess (Fri 8th Feb 2019 9:04am)
  • Blood bus was one of the best things I have read in my entire life! I don’t think it’s online anymore is it? If you can provide a link I will be eternally grateful! I remember there was talk of a book, but it never appeared. by Deminedprincess (Fri 8th Feb 2019 9:06am)
  • It’s all pay and display down there. by Deminedprincess (Fri 8th Feb 2019 9:05am)
  • I think nearest you would get is maybe a slush puppy or a tango ice blast? by Deminedprincess (Fri 8th Feb 2019 11:10pm)
  • Call your factors and tell them the police won’t assist. I don’t imagine they would be too chuffed for insurance reasons. They will most likely turf them out and increase security to the common areas so they can’t get back in. by Deminedprincess (Sat 9th Feb 2019 11:55am)
  • But they’re now back again. OP...... just keep calling the police (as well as the factor), every time they come Back. by Deminedprincess (Sat 9th Feb 2019 12:26pm)
  • They will make sure the doors and secure and send all the residents letters telling them to not let homeless people in. These are by far the best prevention methods. No, they shouldn’t have to send letters telling residents this but unfortunately there are a lot of people lacking common sense out there! At the end of the day, the factors will want rid of them ASAP, as I’m sure they cause insurance complications. by Deminedprincess (Sat 9th Feb 2019 1:26pm)
  • Purchased! Amazing! Thank you by Deminedprincess (Sat 9th Feb 2019 1:53pm)
  • Very sad. The city centre part of the Clyde is a popular suicide spot, unfortunately. I know 2 people who have been found in there :( by Deminedprincess (Tue 12th Feb 2019 1:10pm)
  • The article doesn’t mention anything about the body being a baby? by Deminedprincess (Tue 12th Feb 2019 1:17pm)
  • I’d pick Shettleston over Govanhell, any day of the week. by Deminedprincess (Tue 12th Feb 2019 9:51pm)
  • Apparently Super Lager is a delicacy in Italy by Deminedprincess (Fri 15th Feb 2019 6:16pm)
  • I’d avoid certain parts of the North..... Possil, Springburn, Milton. Also Govanhill, Easterhouse. And some parts of North Lanarkshire are also a bit grim. by Deminedprincess (Sat 16th Feb 2019 10:36am)
  • Possil is still one of the worst parts of Glasgow and should be avoided at all costs! by Deminedprincess (Sat 16th Feb 2019 10:35am)
  • Yes, avoid the Wyndford like the plague. Certain parts of Maryhill are ok, reasonably cheap and close to the west end and city centre, but the Wyndford is just bam pot central. by Deminedprincess (Sat 16th Feb 2019 1:42pm)
  • You can get some decent stuff in ikea. Always decent for the things you don’t want to buy second hand. by Deminedprincess (Sat 16th Feb 2019 1:40pm)
  • Taxi companies don’t deal with lost property and hand everything into lost property at the police station, so if just hand it in there. If the owners calls the taxi company that’s where they will be directed. by Deminedprincess (Sat 16th Feb 2019 7:46pm)
  • Govanhill would tick most of your criteria and definitely is an “experience”! by Deminedprincess (Sun 17th Feb 2019 12:57am)
  • To be totally honest, anywhere you can get a house for £600 a month is going to be a bit grim, or reasonably far out of the city centre and I doubt with public transport that early. I imagine it would start about 530am. But someone may be able to correct me? by Deminedprincess (Sun 17th Feb 2019 10:42am)
  • I was going to suggest Knightswood too if you could cycle. It’s a lot nicer than barlanark or Springburn. £600-700 would get you a 2 bed cottage flat. by Deminedprincess (Sun 17th Feb 2019 12:18pm)
  • Springburn is a bit grim, as are a lot of places in the North. by Deminedprincess (Sun 17th Feb 2019 12:17pm)
  • You can cycle from plenty of places. It still wouldn’t be enough for me to move my kids to Springburn! by Deminedprincess (Sun 17th Feb 2019 12:41pm)
  • Can you drive? If so would it not be worth getting a car and driving to Glasgow and back every day? You’d miss the rush hour traffic and I’m pretty sure there are places you can park around the city centre for about £5 a day. by Deminedprincess (Sun 17th Feb 2019 1:01pm)
  • Whatever you do, although it’s close to town and within your budget, stay away from Wallace Street. It’s a modern complex but unless things have changed recently, it’s absolute bedlam. 90% are BTL’s and none of the landlords pay service charges so the common areas are insecure, unsafe and in poor condition. The place is full of brothels and drug dealers. by Deminedprincess (Sun 17th Feb 2019 5:52pm)
  • Have you registered with recruitment agencies? by Deminedprincess (Mon 18th Feb 2019 11:05am)
  • Keep chasing them up with a call, every couple of weeks, to remind them you’re still looking for work. And find more to register with if you can. by Deminedprincess (Mon 18th Feb 2019 12:48pm)
  • 2 people have been killed recently. by Deminedprincess (Tue 19th Feb 2019 1:40pm)
  • I used to go to the Queen Crescent surgery by St George’s Cross underground station, until I moved. Didn’t have any problems with them. Not sure if they would cover G1, worth a phone call though. by Deminedprincess (Wed 20th Feb 2019 12:52pm)
  • Not sure about the other stuff but the main rock bars in Glasgow are the Solid Rock and Rufus T Firefly, I think Rufus’s has a pool table, but I’m not 100%. Although the Solid is busier and in my opinion, the better of the 2. And don’t worry about the English bit, us Glaswegians are friendly folk! by Deminedprincess (Wed 20th Feb 2019 3:14pm)
  • I haven’t been in it in years, to my knowledge it’s still open but maybe worth calling just to make sure! by Deminedprincess (Wed 20th Feb 2019 5:02pm)
  • Nice, enjoy and have a pint for me 🍺 by Deminedprincess (Wed 20th Feb 2019 5:53pm)
  • Do you mean zip merge? by Deminedprincess (Thu 21st Feb 2019 8:45am)
  • Yes, very annoying. Don’t even get me started on the twats that drive across and block roundabouts. by Deminedprincess (Thu 21st Feb 2019 10:49am)
  • Papyrus at the top of Byres road. Lots of cool wee gifts and a cook wear shop down the stairs. by Deminedprincess (Thu 21st Feb 2019 10:18pm)
  • Fuck Munro’s, best pub at St George’s Cross is the Castle Valuts! by Deminedprincess (Fri 22nd Feb 2019 9:35pm)
  • I can’t think of any. Most pubs do quiz nights during the week when it’s quiet. by Deminedprincess (Sat 23rd Feb 2019 3:08pm)
  • Try Byres Road, get the subway from the city centre to Hillhead and take a right when you come out of the station. Not really many clothes shops but nice independent gift and homeware shops. by Deminedprincess (Sat 23rd Feb 2019 11:26pm)
  • For £2k I’d buy private rather that through a dealer. Do you have someone you can take along who knows a bit about cars? by Deminedprincess (Mon 25th Feb 2019 3:28pm)
  • Just a heads up, It’s very hard to successfully sue the NHS. by Deminedprincess (Wed 27th Feb 2019 3:23pm)
  • You won’t get an apology. Apologising is admitting liability which opens the floodgates in a legal sense. However in regards to your OP..... have you filed an official complaint through the NHS complaints service? You need to do that first, and you can take it further if you’re not satisfied with the outcome. by Deminedprincess (Wed 27th Feb 2019 5:02pm)
  • It’s very true in my experience. by Deminedprincess (Thu 28th Feb 2019 5:02pm)
  • Hi thanks for the reply, and your post is good to know. A bit late now to make a further complaint but thanks again for the info. by Deminedprincess (Thu 28th Feb 2019 5:09pm)
  • I feel your pain I was in the USA and one off sales wouldn’t accept my UK driving license, they said I had to have American ID. WTF? by Deminedprincess (Thu 28th Feb 2019 6:39pm)
  • Hutchesons and So LA are both good, and they do good value fixed price 2/3 course menus. Alston Bar and Beef is also nice. I’m not sure about the gluten free part but I’m sure they could accommodate you if you call in advance . by Deminedprincess (Tue 5th Mar 2019 2:58pm)
  • Subcrawl by Deminedprincess (Fri 8th Mar 2019 9:58am)
  • Custom Inc in Finneston is one of the best studios in Glasgow. The best IMO. They have quite a few different artists. If you pop in and explain what you’re looking for they will recommend an artist. by Deminedprincess (Sun 10th Mar 2019 10:07am)
  • I also love Clyde 2. Sorry not sorry. by Deminedprincess (Sun 10th Mar 2019 6:44pm)
  • WTF I’m in Millerston and I hear the same thing?! by Deminedprincess (Sun 10th Mar 2019 9:38pm)
  • It seems to have stopped for the moment....... They’re doing some works on the train tracks at the end of station road, so that could possibly be it? by Deminedprincess (Sun 10th Mar 2019 10:08pm)
  • Where abouts in the city are you? I own a garage near the city centre, we don’t do body work but I can prob recommend you somewhere. by Deminedprincess (Wed 13th Mar 2019 10:13am)
  • I pass this most days, it’s just fantastic. Two doors along there is also “eye pad opticians” 😂 by Deminedprincess (Wed 20th Mar 2019 2:31pm)
  • DONT DO IT by Deminedprincess (Wed 20th Mar 2019 8:57pm)
  • No story, just a photo? by Deminedprincess (Thu 21st Mar 2019 9:23am)
  • No. by Deminedprincess (Thu 21st Mar 2019 9:28am)
  • You’re not going to get anywhere in the actual west end for that price, but you should be able to get somewhere not too far away. Kinning Park is an option. It’s close to the city centre and there is an underground station. Scotstoun could be another shout. It’s not too far away and there are lots of regular buses that will drop you at the bottom of Byres Road, or you can get an express is that will get you into the city centre in less than 7 minutes. The lower end of Maryhill is ok too and is within walking distance of the uni. by Deminedprincess (Thu 21st Mar 2019 9:13pm)
  • TBH with your budget you’re going to be in a red area! by Deminedprincess (Thu 21st Mar 2019 10:00pm)
  • Jesus...... no no, a million times no. by Deminedprincess (Thu 21st Mar 2019 10:52pm)
  • Not on the OPs budget by Deminedprincess (Fri 22nd Mar 2019 12:20pm)
  • That’s a studio flat / bedsit. The OP preferably wants a 2 bed (or perhaps a 1 bed) by Deminedprincess (Fri 22nd Mar 2019 4:09pm)
  • And there was a brothel next to it called Bubbles! Where the three craws pub is now by Deminedprincess (Sat 23rd Mar 2019 10:07am)
  • Glasgow is a great city to live in. I’m not just saying that because I was raised here. All my visiting friends agree. Do it! by Deminedprincess (Sat 23rd Mar 2019 11:09am)
  • In all seriousness, if you’re looking for decent coffee at a good price (rather than an actual coffee shop), McDonalds coffee is pretty good! by Deminedprincess (Sat 23rd Mar 2019 12:19pm)
  • My Stepdaughter got a job at your age in Sports Direct at the Fort. They’re always taking people on. They weren’t the best employer but the shifts were pretty flexible around her school work and once you have 6 months on your CV you can take the experience and look for something else. by Deminedprincess (Sun 24th Mar 2019 8:19pm)
  • City of Glasgow College does a variety of night classes, they’re really good and reasonably priced. by Deminedprincess (Sun 24th Mar 2019 8:15pm)
  • Taxi companies are supposed to hand everything to the lost property department at Pitt St police station. by Deminedprincess (Sun 24th Mar 2019 8:27pm)
  • It was a while back but I guess it will go to the new lost property department, wherever that is! by Deminedprincess (Sun 24th Mar 2019 8:35pm)
  • Exactly! Yes Glasgow has bad parts, but so what? So does every city! And tbh, unless you have an actual reason to visit them, then you won’t actually see them. And dog shit and glass on every pavement? That’s a lot of bull shit! by Deminedprincess (Sun 24th Mar 2019 11:14pm)
  • What are these pubs? Crazy old man’s boozers where it’s £1.80 a drink? by Deminedprincess (Mon 25th Mar 2019 9:56am)
  • The Royalty is pretty grim. I used to live down that way and although I like a good “dive bar” (if that’s the right turn of phrase these days) there was something about it I didn’t like, but couldn’t quite put my finger on. I was, however, in there for an old firm match with my pal (both females!) and we weren’t quick enough to get a half time pie, so a wee old man went to the chippie next door and bought us a roll and fritter each! 😍😄 by Deminedprincess (Mon 25th Mar 2019 12:24pm)
  • I’d stick to city centre pubs, the hardcore Rangers pubs might be a bit much! Auctioneers is a good shout! PS....... mon the Rangers! (Did you know they’ve won more trophies than any other club in the world?) by Deminedprincess (Mon 25th Mar 2019 12:21pm)
  • I know what you mean. I used to regularly drink in the Woodie, Wintergills and Castle Vaults, but I wouldn’t go into the Royalty unless it was for a Rangers game. by Deminedprincess (Mon 25th Mar 2019 12:36pm)
  • 2001 - 2015. I used to work in the Thistle Bar, which was completely mental...... good laugh tho! 😆 by Deminedprincess (Mon 25th Mar 2019 6:42pm)
  • I doubt you will be able to get a house for that budget, most of the central areas that aren’t dumps, are made up of flats. But you should be able to find a decent flat for that. by Deminedprincess (Mon 25th Mar 2019 6:59pm)
  • I would imagine it’s all, including non Glasgow addresses. So they can make sure you weren’t liable for council tax during these times. by Deminedprincess (Mon 25th Mar 2019 6:55pm)

  • A Glasgow Salad? (Aka chips) by Deminedprincess (Mon 25th Mar 2019 8:19pm)
  • I’m a Rangers fan and I’m going to The Merchant in the city centre (west George Street). It’s not a football pub, but the crowd has definitely been leaning towards the blue side whenever I’ve been in for a match. Its a couple of minutes walk from central station and the drinks are reasonably priced. by Deminedprincess (Mon 25th Mar 2019 8:18pm)

  • The OP wants to be in a central location though. That’s where I think he would struggle to find a house in a decent area. If he was willing to travel a bit further out, then yes, he could afford a house. by Deminedprincess (Wed 27th Mar 2019 11:47am)

  • I wouldn’t say it’s not normal. Things can move slowly with property purchases which can be frustrating but although it’s your main priority, it isn’t (understandably) a solicitors. No harm in asking your solicitor to give their a prod, however. by Deminedprincess (Fri 29th Mar 2019 6:09pm)

  • Avoid certain areas in the North, Possil, Springburn, Milton. Also Easterhouse (East End). I’m presuming you want your own flat, rather than to share? Your budget isn’t going to get you the beat areas, but there are plenty of nice quiet areas with decent transport links that you should be able to get a 1B in for £500 pcm. by Deminedprincess (Wed 3rd Apr 2019 5:54pm)
  • Yeah, Rutherglen isn’t too bad. It has its rough bits but in general, it’s OK. by Deminedprincess (Wed 3rd Apr 2019 5:57pm)
  • I can’t see it being that appealing to toddlers I’m afraid. As already suggested the transport museum (free) or the science centre (paid entry) would be a much better bet. by Deminedprincess (Wed 3rd Apr 2019 8:46pm)
  • I’m not that clued up on the South Side but I’m pretty sure Mount Florida is decent enough 😊 by Deminedprincess (Wed 3rd Apr 2019 11:55pm)

  • You will struggle to get anywhere decent with that budget. by Deminedprincess (Thu 4th Apr 2019 8:55am)
  • Yup, the shop on Cambridge Street! When I was 14 my mate and I found a Safeway bag FULL of Her Maw’s Kensitas Club points. We took them in and dropped them for a bottle of vodka and a bottle of whisky, and drank them with my pals 11 year old sister. We were all steaming and her sister spewed all over the place 😂 her Mum caught us and went fucking mental then went into the shop and kicked off big time as they’d given us the booze. Ah good times! by Deminedprincess (Sat 6th Apr 2019 9:19am)

  • Gumtree is a decent place to look for a low cost used car but Yes, definitely find someone who knows about cars and get them to accompany you. Private sales are pretty much sold as seen, so you don’t want to get stuck with a lemon. Some basic tips would be, look for something with a full service history if poss as this is evidence that the car has been looked after and maintained well. And IMO if a car is clean inside, it’s a good indicator as to how it’s been treated in general. Tyres should be a decent brand and all matching (again the latter is mainly just a good indication that the car has been looked after) Don’t be too concerned by mileage / age. You would be be better buying a 15 year old car with 90k on the clock and a full service history and 1 or 2 owners than a 12 year old car with 60k on the clock and no service history, being sold by someone who has only owned it for 3 months. In your price range I would avoid french cars. The age range that would fall within your budget tend to suffer from electrical problems. If the car has a timing belt then check if it’s been changed within the last few years. If not this will need replacing and will cost you a few hundred pounds. Insurance and tax wise you would have to do that before you drive the car away. You could leave a small deposit and arrange to collect the car in a day or so once you have taxed (you will need the reference number from the registration documents) and insured the car. Payment would be cash or a bank transfer. by Deminedprincess (Sun 14th Apr 2019 10:52pm)
  • Trying to click the link on my iPhone but when I do it just takes me to the App Store and then I click “open” and it just takes me into WhatsApp...... no invite? Has anyone got any ideas? by Deminedprincess (Sun 14th Apr 2019 10:56pm)
  • To everyone who’s saying go to a dealers....... most wont sell cars that cheap, and if they do I’d be wary because they will have picked them up for absolute peanuts to make it worth their while to sell them on for <£1200. Yes you do have more rights when you buy from a dealer but those rights are still pretty limited in the sense that if anything goes wrong with the car you would need to PROVE that the dealer knowing sold the car with that fault. This could be tricky if anything goes wrong. Especially with such a cheap (so old) car. IMO with that budget you’re going to get the best deal privately BUT as already mentioned a few times you MUST take someone with you that knows about cars so you don’t buy a lemon. by Deminedprincess (Mon 15th Apr 2019 7:52am)
  • Nah, not really. It used to be years ago but to be honest most of the rough bits have been knocked down and replaced with new builds now. There has been a lot spent on its regeneration in the last 10-15 years. by Deminedprincess (Tue 16th Apr 2019 6:05pm)
  • Can you even rent a room Monday to Friday? You could travel to Glasgow on the Monday Morning and back to Dundee on the Friday. by Deminedprincess (Wed 17th Apr 2019 12:39pm)
  • Walk ins are never a good idea IMO. Get a consultation with a decent artist first. by Deminedprincess (Wed 17th Apr 2019 4:06pm)
  • Try Custom Inc in Finnieston. They have quite a few artists and if you tell them what you’re looking for then they should be able to recommend someone. It all depends if they have a slot while you’re in the country though. There’s often a bit of a wait list for a decent tattooist. by Deminedprincess (Wed 17th Apr 2019 4:06pm)
  • I didn’t say you did. I was just saying they aren’t generally a good idea. by Deminedprincess (Wed 17th Apr 2019 4:32pm)
  • Laurieston is the Gorbals really, isn’t it? The area it’s self is a lot better than it used to be. A lot of money has been put into its regeneration in the last 10-15 years. Saying that I don’t think I’d want to spend the best part of a quarter of a million quid to live there! by Deminedprincess (Wed 17th Apr 2019 6:09pm)
  • I’d avoid certain areas of the North, Possil, Milton, Springburn, some bits of Maryhill. Definitely Govanhill in the Southside too. And Easterhouse. EastKilbride and Hamilton aren’t really Glasgow. What’s your budget and what are you looking for housing wise? by Deminedprincess (Wed 17th Apr 2019 6:06pm)
  • Not a helpful reply, but it’s down to your personal preference. No one can say which option is better for you. by Deminedprincess (Wed 17th Apr 2019 8:37pm)
  • Warmer? More secure? generally nicer? Matter of preference? by Deminedprincess (Wed 17th Apr 2019 9:05pm)
  • Just my option but if you are looking for an investment I would be more inclined towards this. .... location location, and all of that! 63 Fitzroy Lane, Fitzroy Mews, Park, Glasgow, G3 8LP https://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-70925722.html by Deminedprincess (Wed 17th Apr 2019 10:04pm)
  • Again, no one can guarantee a good investment. Why do you want to be within a mile of the city centre? You mention a family, if I was looking for a family home being that close to the city centre, that wouldn’t be high up on the priorities. But if that’s important to you then Laurieston would tick that box. by Deminedprincess (Wed 17th Apr 2019 10:02pm)
  • If that’s the case and the house is worth the money to you then go for it. I think you need to put the idea of it being an investment to the side though, not because of the purchase specificity, but because as I mentioned, it just can’t be guaranteed. by Deminedprincess (Wed 17th Apr 2019 10:37pm)
  • I wouldn’t say Possil and Govanhill are fine. They’re shit holes. by Deminedprincess (Thu 18th Apr 2019 8:38am)
  • I’m a female and go to the Bellahouston ABC at the Ibrox complex for training on a Thursday evening (630-8). The general routine is skipping, shadow boxing, bag and pad work and then a circuit. It’s mainly men but they’re very welcoming and I’d really recommend it. There’s lots of beginners. The coach is a guy called Jim McCosh and he’s great. by Deminedprincess (Sat 20th Apr 2019 5:28pm)

  • It actually isn’t that bad. My mate has just moved to Bulldale Road. The estate it’s self is lovely and quiet, and the flats are nice. It’s all private rents / owned properties as far as I know. The other end of Yoker (Kelso Street) is pretty rough but Bulldale is fine. You’re not going to be hanging about the deepest darkest parts of Yoker, I’m presuming! A car would help, but there are regular express buses that get you into town in just over 10 minutes. by Deminedprincess (Tue 23rd Apr 2019 11:50pm)
  • I wouldn’t call Paisley Road particularly quiet but it’s not too bad. You’re close to the city centre and it’s reasonably safe. by Deminedprincess (Tue 23rd Apr 2019 11:56pm)
  • They have gas central heating 👍🏻 by Deminedprincess (Thu 25th Apr 2019 6:40pm)

  • It’s not the best. Sort of slap bang between Possil and Milton, which are both pretty rough. by Deminedprincess (Sun 28th Apr 2019 8:47pm)

  • Wetherspoons are soulless places, but if you just view them for what they are (cheap as fuck alcohol) then you can’t really complain. I wouldn’t sit in one all night but they’re alright to down a couple of cheap ones if you have an hour to kill. by Deminedprincess (Wed 24th Jul 2019 3:34pm)
  • The Ranza 😂 I remember a couple of years ago there was a guy having a fag outside and someone mounted the pavement in a Range Rover and mowed him down. Then the next day someone was shot. People make Blackhill. by Deminedprincess (Wed 24th Jul 2019 3:32pm)
  • What’s that horrible Irish pub on Sauchiehall Lane that used to be the universal? Grim as fuck, and I got charged £2.60 for a half pint of draught Rola Cola. I hate Bag o Nails in Partick too. by Deminedprincess (Wed 24th Jul 2019 3:36pm)

  • Sorry for your loss. My Mum died a couple of years ago and she was a bit of a hoarder! I had to clear her 3 bed house out myself and I put all the stuff that could be sold into one room and phoned the Red Cross who came to take it away. The majority of rest of it I just took to the tip. If a car won’t do the job, just hire a van. Your local tip lets vans to dispose of personal household waste and don’t charge if you just explain the situation to them. by Deminedprincess (Sun 4th Aug 2019 8:14pm)

  • I know a couple of years ago ago Cube Housing always had flats available in the Wyndford. It’s not Beverley Hills, but could be worth a look if she’s not fussy (and realistically she’s no chance of being offered anywhere in an in demand area). by Deminedprincess (Fri 16th Aug 2019 11:51pm)
  • My mate stays there and the flats / blocks are lovely. Kinning Park isn’t too bad, you will encounter a few drunks on the main road due to the pubs, but you’re not likely to receive any hassle. There’s an underground station and it’s close to the city centre. by Deminedprincess (Sat 17th Aug 2019 12:22am)

  • Yeah, you’ll struggle transferring a no claims from abroad. My Dad moved to the states for a few years so his UK NCB expired and when he returned home nowhere would accept his US NC. I think maybe one place would but their premiums were so high it cancelled out the benefit. by Deminedprincess (Tue 20th Aug 2019 9:19am)
  • Anyone remember when Vodka Wodka was the Grosvenor Cafe? When my Mum and Dad split up circa 1988 he used to take me there on a Saturday and let me have a brownie and a donut for my tea (must have been the guilt kicking in!) as long as I didn’t tell my Mum..... good times! by Deminedprincess (Tue 20th Aug 2019 9:24am)
  • It was awesome I used to get sent there during the school holidays mid 90s when my parents were at work. Was given £3 and that would buy me a ticket (£1.50) and a load of sweets from Woolies. £3 wouldn’t even buy you a small fizzy juice now! God I feel old 😞 by Deminedprincess (Tue 20th Aug 2019 2:01pm)

  • The Lake District, yes. Blackpool, no. Apart from the main part with the pleasure beach and the tower, the rest of it is 2/3 boarded up and the remaining units are bead and breakfasts, pubs, massage parlours and grotty amusement arcades. Many years ago it was great but when holidays abroad became affordable the number of visitors dropped and has been in decline ever since. There are high levels of drug taking, poverty and unemployment. by Deminedprincess (Thu 22nd Aug 2019 12:42pm)

The plastering course was great, but yes, it was full of a lot of teenagers. I did learn a lot of great skills though, and got my city and guilds at the end of it. by Deminedprincess (Mon 9th Sep 2019 10:34pm)

  • I rent out my flat and use an agency to find tenants. I think Countrywide charge £395. It weeds out many of the dodgy folk / scammer and they do all the checks and admin like leases. Totally worth it IMO. After that I manage it myself. by Deminedprincess (Wed 11th Sep 2019 9:18pm)
  • Prices take the absolute piss though. I think they charged me £9.40 for 2 bottles of Corona. by Deminedprincess (Fri 13th Sep 2019 9:05pm)
  • Really? I was a Student last year and found they only offered £1 off, which made tickets £9.50 instead of £10.50 by Deminedprincess (Sun 15th Sep 2019 10:11am)
  • DO NOT MOVE TO GOVANHILL. by Deminedprincess (Sun 15th Sep 2019 8:20pm)
  • Look at the lower end of Maryhill Road between town and Queen Margaret Drive - St George’s Cross, Woodside, Queens Cross, Firhill. Also consider Kinning Park. These areas are both within walking distance to the city centre, and the former to the West End. And are also only a few minutes walk away from an underground station. Both are fairly decent, there are a few pubs on the main roads where you will encounter punters that have had a few shandies, but you’re unlikely to get any hassle. Dennistoun is decent also, but stay away from the far end, which is actually Haghill, but often described by estate agents as Dennistoun. You will easily get a 1 bedroom for your budget, possibly even a 2. by Deminedprincess (Sun 15th Sep 2019 10:05pm)
  • I used to live in Firhill and I really liked it. I had a look on Rightmove and I think there was a 2 bed modern flat for o/o £125k by Deminedprincess (Mon 16th Sep 2019 11:59am)

  • My mate was looking for somewhere in the WE recently and I had a look on Rightmove out of noseyness and was pretty shocked to find you would struggle to get something decent for under £800/850 a month. Maybe if you weren’t right in the west end, Thornwood or North Kelvinside, but apart from that I think you’d struggle to get somewhere nice for that budget. by Deminedprincess (Wed 18th Sep 2019 6:24pm)
  • Just the way it sounds in my head man. by Deminedprincess (Thu 19th Sep 2019 9:46pm)

We’ve only been open just over a year but you can see your reviews on Google. For a baseline re prices, a basic service for a VW Golf would be 95 + VAT but we give all new customers a 10% discount. If you need a quote or any other info just fire me a message! by Deminedprincess (Sun 22nd Sep 2019 11:19am)

  • Public transport can also be expensive if it’s for a family. Many people would rather just take the car to Braehead / Silverburn. I live in Stepps and if my other half and I just fancied going into town for a potter about the shops and something to eat it would be almost £10 for us both return on the bus . by Deminedprincess (Tue 24th Sep 2019 9:42am)
  • How cheap is cheap? TBH when looking for a cheap car, you’re better to buy private. As advised by another poster, enlist the help of a friend or family member that has a decent knowledge of cars. One of the most important things to look for is a full service history. It shows the car has been well maintained and looked after. by Deminedprincess (Tue 24th Sep 2019 11:10pm)
  • Bad idea. Most of the time, Those cars are in there for a reason. by Deminedprincess (Wed 25th Sep 2019 9:14am)
  • I work in the car industry and regularly see individuals and dealers getting rid of their cars at the auction because they’re riddled with problems. Unless you’re buying higher end and getting a “no major defects” warranty with the car, I’d stay away. You could get a great deal, but at the end of the day, it is a major risk. by Deminedprincess (Wed 25th Sep 2019 10:39am)
  • Dealers put the cars into auction that they can’t / won’t sell due to quality issues. There is a multitude of stuff that an MOT doesn’t cover, engine problems for example. You get protection from existing problems if you buy from a dealer, or even a private seller. Auctions are simply “sold as seen”. I own a garage and we do work for lots of dealers. If a car has problems and isn’t economically viable to fix, then they send it to the auctions. by Deminedprincess (Wed 25th Sep 2019 11:40am)

  • It’s not the best area, but to be honest, like in most similar neighbourhoods, you are unlikely to get any problems unless you go looking for trouble. My friend used to live around there and never had any issues. The flats were nice / cheap and being close to the city centre was very handy. Remember that if you’re renting you can give a months notice at any time (no more 6/12 month minimum terms), so if you really hate it, you’re not stuck there and you can move. by Deminedprincess (Wed 2nd Oct 2019 10:37pm)
  • Dennistoun is decent and close to the city centre. It won’t be as cheap as the Calton, but it’s a lot cheaper than the West End or City Centre. Just make sure you don’t end up in Haghill, which is pretty rough, but many estate agents like to describe as “Dennistoun”. by Deminedprincess (Wed 2nd Oct 2019 10:56pm)
  • That’s a bit dramatic. There are many areas that are on the main route of the walls. Half the weekends of the year is a gross exaggeration. by Deminedprincess (Thu 3rd Oct 2019 9:21am)

  • Has she had any lessons before? Have you taught anyone to drive before? If no and no then don’t mean to sound like a killjoy but it’s definitely worth investing in at least a few professional lessons first. I think it’s about £12 an hour to hire a dual control car (plus the time/hassle of collecting it and dropping it off) and you can get lessons for about £25, maybe a bit less for the first few. by Deminedprincess (Tue 15th Oct 2019 6:49pm)
  • You’ll be fine! I’m presuming you’re a female 😂 I’m a bit of a Tom boy and love cocktails and trainers, and I’ve never had any problems combining the two in Glasgow. The Corinthian will let you in with trainers, but tbh You wouldn’t want to go there anyway. If you’re looking for somewhere upmarket try Rogano or the bar in Blythswood Square Hotel or if you want somewhere a little more low key, Mediterraneo(?) across from Hutchesons on Ingram Street, do amazing cocktails. It’s an Italian restaurant but they have a bar area too. by Deminedprincess (Tue 15th Oct 2019 6:46pm)

  • In what way is sheltering them from boys going to encourage emotional security or provoke anxiety? And how will making the school coed deprive girls of a decent education? I’d actually like to hear your opinion. And for the record, in my experience teenage girls can be a hell of a lot crueler than teenage boys when it comes to teasing and bullying! by Deminedprincess (Thu 28th Nov 2019 11:05pm)
  • But why should they have to? As already pointed out, boys don’t get the privilege of choosing a free same sex education, why should girls? by Deminedprincess (Fri 29th Nov 2019 12:19am)
  • Because the resources will be nowhere near enough to set up an all boys school. And also I don’t think state single sex education is appropriate in the 21st century. by Deminedprincess (Fri 29th Nov 2019 7:10am)

  • Contact them on social media, it’s a uk based team and they are pretty helpful. However, their contract is really with the sender, not you, so you might have to get whoever sent the parcel to reach out on your behalf. If you/ they keep pressing that it wasn’t delivered then Hermes should compensate the sender who in return can refund you. by Deminedprincess (Fri 6th Dec 2019 8:50pm)
  • 🤷‍♀️ in my experience it’s always been the best way to get a result from contacting them (and I have no where near a ton of followers) by Deminedprincess (Fri 6th Dec 2019 9:00pm)

  • As others have mentioned, bar work is minimum wage and I wouldn’t count on getting tips at all. I worked in various bars over 15 years and my experience is, you are a lot more likely to get tips in local bars where regulars / older people drink. Once they get to know you they offer give you £1 every time they buy a round. This can add £20 on to your shift if you pick a good one. If you work in a trendy city centre bar, you tips will be little to none. Tips are more common if you can find a job in a restaurant as a waiter, especially a more upmarket place. Re finding a job, whenever I was looking for work, I just printed out a pile of CVs (keep it brief they really just want to see what relevant experience you have) and walked around handing them into places. Most times I got a call to come in for an interview the same day. by Deminedprincess (Sat 28th Dec 2019 2:05pm)
  • I worked in bars for years and every time I step into a Wetherspoons I think I’d rather gauge out my right eye with a rusty spoon than work in one of them - no music, no soul, no tips, always heaving so no time to chat to colleagues or customers. by Deminedprincess (Sat 28th Dec 2019 2:10pm)

I do a bit of delivering with Amazon Flex, the US version pays about the same hourly rate but the drivers can double their wages in tips. There’s no option to add tips on the U.K. site which is annoying. by Deminedprincess (Mon 19th Oct 2020 7:23pm)
  • I got one for travelling to Dubai last month. It’s a service linked to the UAE government but you basically get a Covid test certificate that doesn’t state anything about the UAE on it, so I imagine that would do the job. They say you get the results within 48 hours but it’s usually around 24. You fill in the [online form](https://purehealth.ae/international-preflight-covid-19-passenger-screening/) and pay £120, then you can book an appointment at a clinic, I went to the boots at braehead. by Deminedprincess (Sat 24th Oct 2020 10:54pm)
  • Yeah the Wyndford is really rough, especially the high flats. As others have said Maryhill isn’t that bad itself, but the Wyndford is just a dumping ground for the worst of the worst. There are always HA flats there as no one with any common sense wants to live there. If you want proof sit outside the high rise block you have been offered for half an hour..... by Deminedprincess (Fri 30th Oct 2020 11:27pm)

  • Maryhill is gods country, that is all 😎 In all seriousness...... some parts are better than others but some are perfectly fine. I lived at St George’s Cross then in Firhill Street for years and I loved it. The amenities are great, as are the public transport links, the people are friendly (I’ve worked in a couple of local pubs) you’re close to the west end and city centre and the property is a cheap in comparison to the former. Some of the areas I would avoid, like the Wyndford, specifically, but 80% of it is totally fine. I moved to Stepps when I got married 6 years ago and TBH I really miss G20, I’d move back in a heartbeat 😂 the suberbs are boring AF! by Deminedprincess (Sun 7th Mar 2021 11:12pm)

  • Social issues aside, the main problems with purchasing would be 1 - you are unlikely to get a mortgage, so you’d need to have the cash, 2 - the maintenance charges are likely to be huge, any refurbishments could end up costing you a fortune and you don’t have a choice whether they go ahead or not. And 3 - based on 1 and 2, if you ever want to sell, it could be very tricky. by Deminedprincess (Tue 25th May 2021 6:50pm)

  • A lot of bars don’t mind hiring staff with no experience. Flexibility and attitude are more important. The best way to get a bar job IME, is to just print out a bunch of CVs, and hand them into places that you wouldn’t mind working in. I would definitely echo the advice already given to you here, look for a local pub rather than the city centre. The tips will be better, as will the hours and you won’t have to deal with as many arseholes. by Deminedprincess (Sat 12th Jun 2021 7:52pm)
  • I just think that it’s good to put a face to a name and have a first impression. I worked in bars for 14 years and most staff got jobs just by stopping by with a CV and asking if we needed staff. It’s shows willing and initiative. Even if the policy is that applications should be emailed, you’ve still got a better chance of being remembered. by Deminedprincess (Sun 13th Jun 2021 12:20pm)

  • I’ve been to Anchor Line a few times and I find the food to be a bit……… not great? It’s OK but it doesn’t really wow me. I much prefer the Atlantic Brasserie down the stairs, which is oddly enough owned by the same people. by Deminedprincess (Thu 30th Sep 2021 11:51pm)

  • I’m going to a gig at SWG3 tomorrow night, supposed to be taking along a pal who is 18 and hasn’t had his second jab yet. The SWG3 website is a bit confusing as to whether or not he needs to show proof of vaccination or not? https://swg3.tv/about/coronavirus-information Also, he said he was in a nightclub on Saturday night and they didn’t ask for proof? Is it a legal requirement now or just an advisory? Thanks! by Deminedprincess (Mon 4th Oct 2021 7:36pm)
  • Tried to call but it’s office hours only, I’ll give them a try in the morning. After researching various sources online, it’s just a pilot scheme right now and not being enforced until the 18th of October? Hence on their website If your event takes place between 1 and 17 October To get our system working as smoothly as possible and test our processes, we’ll be asking customers to show proof of double vaccination from Friday 1 October for all events. If you don’t have a vaccine passport, you’ll still be able to gain entry up to and including Sunday 17 October. Thanks for the reply 👍 by Deminedprincess (Mon 4th Oct 2021 8:06pm)
  • In case anyone cares, they didn’t ask for anything. by Deminedprincess (Wed 6th Oct 2021 9:26am)

  • Of course. You’re going to be moving in social circles where carrying a knife is common place, so therefore more likely to get stabbed. by Deminedprincess (Thu 21st Oct 2021 7:35pm)
  • If you’re not? The fact is though that most people carrying knives ARE going to be moving in social circles where they’re more likely to be stabbed. If I was to leave the house carrying a knife, would I be more likely to be stabbed? I expect not, but statistically, yes the main demographic that will carry a knife is more likely to be stabbed. by Deminedprincess (Thu 21st Oct 2021 7:41pm)
  • It’s not as simple as the one factor of carrying a knife though. It’s all the accompanying ones and knock on effect though. However, in simple terms though, STATISTICALLY, an average person that carries a knife is more likely to get stabbed. Reasons for this could include the company they keep and / or the way they approach violent or potentially violent situations. by Deminedprincess (Thu 21st Oct 2021 7:48pm)
  • I don’t know……. As I mentioned earlier having a knife could cause someone to enter a situation with (false?) confidence? Or if A knows B is carrying a knife then they could feel the needs to “get in there first”. I understand your point that it’s not black and white, however I’m still confident that the original statement is correct. by Deminedprincess (Thu 21st Oct 2021 8:00pm)

  • I noticed this is the Anchor Line last month. My own fault, I know but I didn’t check the bill properly and then told them to add another 10% onto my card payment. I felt a bit conned, for sure. Should they not mention this on the menu before you order? by Deminedprincess (Mon 1st Nov 2021 4:31pm)
  • That is true but for the last 9 months we haven’t even had a train on a Sunday 😂 although I think they’re back on now. Don’t get me wrong I appreciate the train service, but is it as convenient as the subway? Definitely not IMO. by Deminedprincess (Mon 1st Nov 2021 5:03pm)

If so then it’s just a case of waiting for the ceiling to dry out then re plastering it. It looks pretty horrendous but it should be easily fixed. by Deminedprincess (Thu 18th Nov 2021 9:31pm)
  • Your post is a little vague….. What kind of car are you looking for? How much do you want to spend? My best advice would to be enlist the help of a friend who knows a bit about cars. • I rent out my old flat in Firhill. It’s an unfurnished 2 bed and well maintained. I’ve had the same tenant for 4 years now and compared to today’s market prices the rent is CHEAP. I could put up the rent but I have a good tenant and I really appreciate that, so I won’t be increasing the price. by Deminedprincess (Tue 11th Jan 2022 8:41pm)
  • So if my tenant didn’t want to buy it, I’d have to thrown him out and he’s prob be paying 30% more in rent? by Deminedprincess (Tue 11th Jan 2022 8:54pm)
  • They can. But will they? For a single incident? Doubtful. OP there’s a parking forum called Popla or something like that, head over there, I think they have lots of advice on this type of thing. by Deminedprincess (Tue 11th Jan 2022 8:58pm)
  • I’m sure there’s somewhere in Dennistoun you can park for the whole day for £4 or £5. Still about a 20 minute walk into town though. As previously advised, park and ride is most likely your best bet. by Deminedprincess (Tue 11th Jan 2022 9:00pm)
  • Ah I don’t know if I’d go that far, although my general life mantra is “don’t be a dick” by Deminedprincess (Tue 11th Jan 2022 10:24pm)
  • Not everyone wants to buy. And actually, given the current value of the flat I’m not sure the rent would equal more than mortgage + factors fees + repairs / maintenance for a new buyer. by Deminedprincess (Wed 12th Jan 2022 12:25pm)
  • What exactly do you think I’m justifying? by Deminedprincess (Wed 12th Jan 2022 12:30pm)
  • So throw my tenant out, who wants to rent, not buy. And chances are he will have to pay another 1/3 in rent as he will have to pay market rent for a similar property? He’s happy with the current arrangement, as am I. Your generalisation isn’t sensible. by Deminedprincess (Wed 12th Jan 2022 12:36pm)

If you’re flying remember to factor in travel to and from the airport for both legs, this can add on a whack. • That’s great for you but there’s nowhere near enough council / HA properties to give one for everyone that would like one. So hardly a realistic comparison. Sadly, £600 reasonable for a decent 1B private let in Glasgow these days. by Deminedprincess (Sat 12th Mar 2022 11:50pm)
  • Just my opinion and I would be interested to hear what others think, but I think the food has gone downhill in recent years. The burger used to be one of the best in Glasgow, but now it’s just (and sorry to use this term, but I think it’s pretty much spot on, description wise)……….. meh. by Deminedprincess (Sat 12th Mar 2022 11:56pm)

  • Are you looking for a room or your own place? If your own place look on the spareroom website and find a room in a flat, until you can secure a flat. But to answer your question, yes flats in the city centre are in high demand right now. The rental market is crazy. by Deminedprincess (Sat 26th Mar 2022 9:38am)
  • Oh definitely. And tbh even most places in the direct Glasgow area Have the same problems right now. You will prob be looking at someone just outside Glasgow, but if you can find somewhere close to a train station then you’re all good. Plus the rent will be a lot cheaper. I’m not too clued up on the best areas but I’m sure someone else on here will be able to advise. by Deminedprincess (Sat 26th Mar 2022 9:51am)
  • [this is literally next to a station](https://www.rightmove.co.uk/properties/121172054) Trains are very half hour, they are direct to the city centre and only take 18 mins. Also remember that you only need to give a months notice on any flat you rent now so you can always move somewhere further out and keep trying for somewhere closer to the town,’if that’s what you want. by Deminedprincess (Sat 26th Mar 2022 9:56am)
  • No you don’t need to stay 6 months. Legally in Scotland it’s one month, it’s been like this for a while now. A landlord or agency may try their luck and write in the contract that you have a minimum rental term of 6/12 months but this is totally unenforceable. by Deminedprincess (Sat 26th Mar 2022 10:03am)
  • No worries, I hope you find somewhere soon 👍 by Deminedprincess (Sat 26th Mar 2022 10:06am)

  • Yeah Chiropractors don’t have the best rep….. I’ve suffered from a slipped disc for years and go see Michael Brown at Cram Osteopaths in Woodlands, once a month. I think it’s £53 a session which lasts about 15 minutes. It may seem expensive but it’s worth every penny. My back used to go once every few months and I’d be bed bound for 3 days minimum and it would take 2-4 weeks before I was back to normal. Now it goes about once a year and I’m back to normal after 3-4 days tops. by Deminedprincess (Tue 12th Apr 2022 10:56pm)

Are there any colleagues that you could get a lift with? by Deminedprincess (Fri 24th Jun 2022 1:43pm)
  • Hiring a car just now is crazy expensive, you’d most likely be looking at £250-350 for a week, for the cheapest car. If a dealer is fixing your car then they may be able to offer you a courtesy car. I’d ask them as a first attempt. by Deminedprincess (Fri 24th Jun 2022 1:40pm)

  • I’ve worked in hospitality so will tip 10-15% when in a restaurant and £1 a round when buying drinks at the bar. Tips really helped me out when I was a student and the amount of crap serving staff have to put up with for minimum wage is unreal, so I sympathise. I will prob get downvoted for this but if I went out for a first date for something to eat and the other person didn’t tip, I wouldn’t go out with them again. by Deminedprincess (Tue 19th Jul 2022 9:44pm)

  • No, but when making a generalised comment about drink prices I’d say it was pretty safe to assume that someone isn’t talking about London. by Deminedprincess (Wed 20th Jul 2022 1:41pm)
  • My point is, I questioned your talk of pints costing £8. You said they cost that in London. I felt safe to assume that as you didn’t mention a city you were talking about Glasgow. And yes £5 a pint common in Glasgow now, but not £8, which was the original discussion. PS why would it be illegal to move out of Glasgow and return? by Deminedprincess (Wed 20th Jul 2022 3:37pm)

TBH you’re prob closer to kelvinbridge or St George’s Cross underground’s than Possil (all the station distances are as the crow flies so not entirely accurate in terms of walking distances). Ruchill park is great for walking dogs, really quiet. Plus you’re right next to the canal that is being done up, you can walk along and be in town in about twenty minutes. • I live in Maryhill (Firhill street) and I love it. There are great public transport links and amenities. The canal is lovely and you can walk into town. by Deminedprincess (Fri 1st Dec 2023 10:36am)
  • No problem! Some areas of Maryhill are better than others. If you need any advice feel free to PM me by Deminedprincess (Wed 6th Dec 2023 4:28pm)
  • When I worked for large companies hotels like the raddison blue and the Hilton used to put on huge nights with a meal drinks and entertainment. At an estimate there were 50 tables seating ten people each. You could book out as many tables as you wanted. I’m not sure what the price per head was though. by Deminedprincess (Thu 7th Dec 2023 12:06pm)

  • I wonder about the legalities of this. Surely they can’t hold your property random? Wouldn’t that be theft? by Deminedprincess (Fri 8th Dec 2023 1:06pm)

  • I honestly don’t know they can get away with that. Legally you haven’t entered a contract with them, so how can you be forced to pay? by Deminedprincess (Fri 8th Dec 2023 11:22pm)
  • You can put whatever you like in T+Cs or a contract. It doesn’t mean it’s legal or enforceable. by Deminedprincess (Fri 8th Dec 2023 11:25pm)
  • I would definitely pick Barmulloch over Hamiltonhill (aka Possil). I’m not too sure about Sighthill, as pointed out it has been redeveloped recently. But if you’re happy enough with Barmulloch I’d just stay there. The grass ain’t always greener by Deminedprincess (Fri 8th Dec 2023 11:32pm)
