  • I use Badguy Brand on Alexandra Parade. While my hair isn't long I've seen loads of people in their with it man. Would highly recommend James Cadle for it, he's brilliant. by jasonpswan89 (Sat 31st Oct 2020 12:34pm)
  • B&M sausages in the East End apparently, near Parkhead. It's a Polish butchers but they seemingly do Bratwurst, maybe call ahead to check though by jasonpswan89 (Tue 10th Nov 2020 8:50pm)
  • All of these things are based on different factors. Where you stay, where you shop etc. You'd need to be more more specific otherwise you'll get a huge range of options, especially if you live alone vs living with someone by jasonpswan89 (Mon 16th Nov 2020 8:47am)
  • Those places are all (likely) cheaper than living in Glasgow itself, just remember to factor in increase travel time and cost. You'll probably spend the same here as you do down cambridge on food as supermarket prices don't vary wildly within the company itself. by jasonpswan89 (Mon 16th Nov 2020 8:51am)
  • Have a look online to wee where you want to live. You can then check what council tax band you are in, bare in mind if you live alone you get a 25% discount. Water is included on the same bill, you can likely check that too. As for utilities it depends on who you use, how you pay, the size of the flat, how often the heating is on etc etc. by jasonpswan89 (Mon 16th Nov 2020 8:49am)
  • See for like 450/550 you could actually live in the city btw. I'm in Dennistoun (East End), walking distance to the city centre, and I don't pay much more than that (2 bedroom). Plus there is a Lidl, Aldi, and Tesco all nearby too. You'll be able to live comfortably for sure. Plus if you are considering a flatshare then you'll find it much easier to find one if you actually live in Glasgow as opposed to one of the other places you mentioned. by jasonpswan89 (Mon 16th Nov 2020 8:58am)
  • For sure in the Southside. 1 bed in Kinning Park etc would fall within that budget, plus great transport links (just not on a Sunday....). by jasonpswan89 (Mon 16th Nov 2020 9:02am)
  • 0141 221 5436 by jasonpswan89 (Mon 23rd Nov 2020 2:24pm)
  • I literally typed Post Office Hope Street into google and a phone number comes up. Try that and call them, I doubt anyone here (unless they work at the place) will know tbh. by jasonpswan89 (Mon 23rd Nov 2020 2:23pm)
  • The Uni should have an emergency fund which anyone can access for emergency assistance. You can then also apply for a discretionary fund. I'd suggest contacting the University finance people man by jasonpswan89 (Fri 27th Nov 2020 7:55pm)
  • Well that's just a disgusting attitude from the University. There is a facebook page called "Glasgow Bartender's CluBmb Recruitment " Whilst most hospitality has a hiring freeze you might get lucky in the run up to Xmas by jasonpswan89 (Fri 27th Nov 2020 8:37pm)
  • Can confirm Toni's is amazing. My flatmate collects for us twice a month and we live in Dennistoun. by jasonpswan89 (Sat 13th Feb 2021 4:11pm)
  • A lot of Asian shops sell gf soy sauce so i think it's becoming more common. O work at a Vietnamese restaurant and it's a hella common request these days by jasonpswan89 (Fri 19th Feb 2021 10:49pm)
  • Shawlands and Cathcart are nice, but how much has the Southside changed lately that Pollok is now considered a good area? by jasonpswan89 (Fri 26th Feb 2021 5:59am)
  • You should find a 1 bed in Dennistoun for that, unlikely you'll get a 2 bedroom. Great location and really close to the centre, easy to get everywhere from here. by jasonpswan89 (Fri 26th Feb 2021 5:57am)
  • It'll be Rangers fans. by jasonpswan89 (Sat 6th Mar 2021 7:45pm)
  • They are running online but not in person. Looks like that'll be the case for some time now by jasonpswan89 (Sat 20th Mar 2021 12:20pm)
  • So you pay council tax in 10 installments so most months you'll be around £750 for rent & council tax, add on WiFi and say ~£775, plus say £40 for utilities? So a little over £800. I mean i think that's perfectly feasible. If you aren't sure about affording it then maybe consider a shared flat, I share a 2 bedroom and my outgoings are about £350 for rent// council tax// wifi// utilities. Another way to save might be to find an unfurnished flat and just pick up what you need ad hoc by jasonpswan89 (Sun 21st Mar 2021 10:40am)
  • There's 2 clothing bins at Co-Op on Alexandra Parade. by jasonpswan89 (Thu 25th Mar 2021 9:00am)
  • Hospitality is your best bet. I've managed coffee shops and restaurants previously in Glasgow and hired loads of students in both. by jasonpswan89 (Thu 25th Mar 2021 12:03pm)
  • I'd have a look on Facebook, there's a page called Glasgow Bartenders Club- Recruitment. I used that most recently before I left hospitality, literally in the last 2 months by jasonpswan89 (Thu 25th Mar 2021 12:07pm)
  • Steak & Cherry (Sauchiehall Street) is a restaurant but have a few tables outside, walk in only. I've just had a couple of pints here and seen a few spaces up and down SS. by jasonpswan89 (Sat 1st May 2021 12:43pm)
  • Try the restaurants too, damn near everywhere has tables outside mate by jasonpswan89 (Sat 1st May 2021 12:46pm)
  • Glad should be replaced with Surprised in Glasgow let's be honest 😂 by jasonpswan89 (Sat 1st May 2021 2:00pm)
  • In Europe it's typical for a pint like that haha I tolerate it in Berlin cos rhe beer is good, dunno about Paris though haha by jasonpswan89 (Sat 1st May 2021 2:12pm)
  • Thanks for the tips!! by jasonpswan89 (Sun 2nd May 2021 12:05am)
  • Haha thank you!! I know a few restaurant owners so I've text them about grabbing a table outside if all else fails haha!! by jasonpswan89 (Sun 2nd May 2021 12:12am)
  • I'll have a look! by jasonpswan89 (Sun 2nd May 2021 11:30am)
  • East End is a joke for it Been sleeping with earplugs in because it's constant Why are these flying vermin a protected species honestly 🤷‍♂️ by jasonpswan89 (Mon 19th Jul 2021 12:11pm)
  • There's a few local pages on Facebook for bartering, trading, freebies. Loads of people give away cuttings and stuff so you could literally get a huge selection for free then you just grow them and give away cuttings in the future 🤓 by jasonpswan89 (Wed 21st Jul 2021 2:56pm)
  • My friend works for the vaccine booking line and I asked her this last week. Apparently policy is a blanket No whether you show up to a walk-in or try change to something sooner (less than 8 weeks). by jasonpswan89 (Thu 22nd Jul 2021 5:23pm)
  • I'd check flights, it's probably cheaper and defo faster. If you want the cheapest option take a bus 🤷‍♂️ by jasonpswan89 (Thu 22nd Jul 2021 5:21pm)
  • Foreplay Crazy Golf is a good first date idea. Couple of games loosens you up, they have a cocktail garden and a bar too. by jasonpswan89 (Sun 25th Jul 2021 2:02pm)
  • The Christmas Market at St Enoch Square is going ahead, it's just the George Square one that is cancelled seemingly. by jasonpswan89 (Fri 29th Oct 2021 12:57pm)
  • The Necropolis is open, I live nearby and my brother took the dog a walk round it this evening 😊 by jasonpswan89 (Mon 1st Nov 2021 11:37pm)
  • Bumble has a friends feature, could be useful to meet some new people. Haven't tried it personally but I've heard good things :) by jasonpswan89 (Tue 9th Nov 2021 5:50pm)
  • I have a pocket bully. Muscly dog and looks super aggressive but is an absolute sweetheart, I keep him on a lead but the amount of Dogs who jump all over him while the owners just stand chatting is unreal. Dennistoun is a joke for it, I've literally had to ask people to control their Dogs every day this week while they watch their horrible little shots bark at and jump all over my dog, and yet if my dog snapped back he'd be the bad one. by jasonpswan89 (Sat 20th Nov 2021 1:13am)
  • There's one called Grosik which is due to open soon on Alexandra Parade, next to the Co-Op & Iceland by jasonpswan89 (Mon 22nd Nov 2021 8:05am)
  • I used Network Cars but that's due to my being in the East End. If Southside use Hampden. They'll also tell you the price and stuff too. by jasonpswan89 (Tue 7th Dec 2021 8:13am)
  • Quite possibly mate. Network seems to be called Springburn Taxis or something when you call. I'm on Ally Parade and I'm £23.50 to the airport, took it twice last month so prices are up to date by jasonpswan89 (Tue 7th Dec 2021 8:31am)
  • Please don't go there. The owner is a horrible human being who steals staffs holiday pay when they leave, and is generally just an absolute bellend of a business owner. by jasonpswan89 (Tue 7th Dec 2021 3:46pm)
  • I checked before leaving for the train yesterday (8 minutes before it was due) then got to the station to see it was cancelled, I get staff shortages but this shit is just messy by jasonpswan89 (Tue 21st Dec 2021 4:53pm)
  • That's not too bad! Hat, scarf & gloves looked out already. by jasonpswan89 (Tue 28th Dec 2021 9:33am)
  • Yeah the walkins seems to be sporadic, might be they just take too many appointments in the same slotd by jasonpswan89 (Tue 28th Dec 2021 9:41am)
  • Ok that's a pisstake honestly eh! by jasonpswan89 (Tue 28th Dec 2021 9:40am)
  • I'll get to the Mosque 30 minutes and if there's no queue I'll potter about until my appointment time, don't see how that would make me part of the problem 🤷‍♂️ by jasonpswan89 (Tue 28th Dec 2021 9:49am)
  • The problem is people won't do that which then forces others to show up early or wait ages. I'd just kick people out who show up hours before their appointment honestly. by jasonpswan89 (Tue 28th Dec 2021 9:46am)
  • Mine's at 11:30, I'll aim for 11 and see what's up 🤷‍♂️ by jasonpswan89 (Tue 28th Dec 2021 9:45am)
  • Ok so if I show up and there's a queue I shouldn't join it until 5 minutes before my appointment and then wait longer due to the selfish people who want theirs early? I deserve to be seen on time, my joining an already existing queue of people who arrive too early is my only choice other than rebook which I shouldn't have to do. by jasonpswan89 (Tue 28th Dec 2021 9:57am)
  • Aww nice! Hoping that's the same today then, means I can shop in town en route. by jasonpswan89 (Tue 28th Dec 2021 10:09am)
  • Because if there is no queue I'll just hang around and wait, while if there is a queue I'd rather join it then than wait about and end up even later. by jasonpswan89 (Tue 28th Dec 2021 10:35am)
  • Apparently they aren't taking walk ins They appear to be scheduling too many appointments at the same time But people on here blame people for wanting to be seem on time 🤦‍♂️ by jasonpswan89 (Tue 28th Dec 2021 10:49am)
  • Will do by jasonpswan89 (Tue 28th Dec 2021 10:50am)
  • There was no queue, they are taking people early if they have the capacity to do so. They appear to have a lot more staff available for giving out the booster today compared to last week, at least according to the wee lady who gave me mine. by jasonpswan89 (Tue 28th Dec 2021 11:13am)
  • Seriously mate? Beta male because I won't head to the front of a queue of people also waiting, absolute gutter patter by jasonpswan89 (Tue 28th Dec 2021 11:12am)
  • There was no queue at all today, the nurse said they have more staff than last week so they expect things to go faster by jasonpswan89 (Tue 28th Dec 2021 6:11pm)
  • I did a conversion MSc at Strathclyde. Artificial Intelligence & Applications was the name of the course, mainly Python coding. My undergraduate was Maths, Stats & Finance. by jasonpswan89 (Sat 1st Jan 2022 10:40am)
  • Lived in flat 5 years They are putting the price up for the first time in March 🤷‍♂️ by jasonpswan89 (Tue 11th Jan 2022 8:10pm)
  • Yeah it's fair enough. They can increase it annually but didn't do so and I'll still be paying below what others in the area in smaller flats are paying. by jasonpswan89 (Tue 11th Jan 2022 8:36pm)
  • Glasgow Cabs I think are a reasonable choice. I got two from Dennistoun to the airport in Late November / Early December and both times I was about £20-£25 max £40-£50 is a joke, even the Taxis that sit outside the airport to take people home aren't that expensive!! by jasonpswan89 (Fri 14th Jan 2022 8:17pm)
  • Tpni's Pizzeria, Giffnock 👌 by jasonpswan89 (Mon 17th Jan 2022 8:47am)

  • Berkeley is just a club sadly by jasonpswan89 (Tue 25th Jan 2022 9:14pm)
  • If they didn't take more than the bill said I wouldn't be too worried personally. Some servers wait for you to do it, sometimes people hand the server their cards even for contactless, and sometimes the server waits for you to do it but you're busy chatting etc and the don't have time to wait around 🤷‍♂️ I worked in hospitality for ~15 years and seen all 3, if you aren't comfortable then lift your card as they approach or when they bring the bill ask for the card machine and keep the card in your hand the entire time. by jasonpswan89 (Wed 26th Jan 2022 8:43am)

  • You get more or less everything, albeit with some limits- 200 fags, 4L of Spirits etc by jasonpswan89 (Fri 4th Feb 2022 1:39pm)
  • Golf Fang is better than Fore Play. Haven't done Jungle Rumble- it's family friendly which doesn't appeal on a date for me. by jasonpswan89 (Fri 4th Feb 2022 1:38pm)
  • You may struggle on a random Monday You're best bet would be Delmonicas honestly, possibly Riding Room @ Polo. But again that tends to be a weekend kind of show 🤷‍♂️ by jasonpswan89 (Tue 15th Feb 2022 4:58pm)
  • Try Loon Fung on Sauchiehall Street by jasonpswan89 (Thu 17th Feb 2022 5:31pm)
  • Dels & Polo have a mixed crowd, as does Katie's Bar. Then you also have Underground and Speak Easy too. Honestly there's a few round merchant City, and those that aren't still have a cool crowd and are gay friendly. by jasonpswan89 (Wed 23rd Feb 2022 9:23am)
  • Gerry Cinnamon by jasonpswan89 (Fri 25th Feb 2022 12:52am)
  • If you are going to crazy golf then Golf Fang is better than Jungle Rumble, no kids 🤓 by jasonpswan89 (Thu 3rd Mar 2022 9:02am)
  • Max's Bar on Queen Street. BOGOF on Pizzas, other food is also really good and the atmosphere is usually decent without being obtrusive by jasonpswan89 (Sun 6th Mar 2022 1:04pm)
  • I work in London sometimes (Liverpool Street), and I fly down. Lift to the airport, fly to Stansted, £30 open return train ticket, all in less than £100, sometimes around £75-£80 depending when you book the flights. by jasonpswan89 (Tue 8th Mar 2022 8:29am)
  • I'm about 30%, I live in Dennistoun in a 2 bed on my own so I think that's OK. Rent went up this month for the first time in 5 years. by jasonpswan89 (Thu 10th Mar 2022 10:51am)
  • McGraddies down Shawlands is a good shout by jasonpswan89 (Sun 13th Mar 2022 9:51pm)
  • It depends where in the West End. Would you be living alone or in shared accommodation? I reckon living alone on that might be a struggle with the cost of living rising like crazy right now. by jasonpswan89 (Tue 15th Mar 2022 7:42am)
  • I studied at Strathclyde and can honestly say that it's basically down to snobbery that people assume any uni isn't great in Glasgow or the surrounding areas. Glasgow looks down on Strathclyde who look down on Caley who look down on UWS. Load of shite honestly 🤷‍♂️ by jasonpswan89 (Wed 16th Mar 2022 2:54pm)
  • The one in buchanan is literally as you walk in the second entrance, I.e. not the one with escalators. Right Hand Side opposite Super Drug. by jasonpswan89 (Mon 21st Mar 2022 7:40pm)
  • No worries, I haven't been but it tends to look busy Let me know how it is as my brows are needing a trim haha by jasonpswan89 (Tue 22nd Mar 2022 8:53am)
  • You can jump a train to Balloch easily enough from Queen Street Low Level or Charing Cross, or head down to Stirling and see the Wallace Monument. by jasonpswan89 (Sat 26th Mar 2022 1:17pm)
  • Head up to Bath Street or Sauchiehall Street, couple if decent options apiece if you just want a few drinks Howlin Wolf or Slouch on Bath Nice n Skeazy or Box on Sauchiehall by jasonpswan89 (Wed 30th Mar 2022 5:59pm)
  • I couldn't comment as I haven't tried going solo but they don't seem the type to do that 🤷‍♂️ by jasonpswan89 (Wed 30th Mar 2022 6:31pm)
  • Polo is a good shout for the gays (or open-minded) 💅 by jasonpswan89 (Wed 30th Mar 2022 6:39pm)
  • I know The Garage was renowned for it, I used to get my friend in by walking up with her then leaving as soon as we got to the stairs by jasonpswan89 (Wed 30th Mar 2022 6:38pm)
  • Well I'm a gay so I tend to want to get pumped when I go there 😂 by jasonpswan89 (Wed 30th Mar 2022 7:24pm)
  • Get the Saturday shift removed, have them write the accomodation into the contract, and find out if the 9 hour days include a 1 hour break too. If they agree to that then I'd consider it, just check the contract for any costs associated with you leaving within a certain time frame- training costs etc. I don't know if they are offering you less as an Indian, so go in with the assumption it's due to you being a graduate. Try to have them write some training plans or expectations into your contract so you know you'll have the chance to grow and develop your skills etc. by jasonpswan89 (Thu 31st Mar 2022 10:23am)
  • Yeah just ask, a negotiation is fair if you aren't happy. They might see this as a first offer and expect pushback- speak to whoever interviewed you as an initial point of call, or anyone who you might know there. Check glassdoor or similar sites for information on the company- even their recruitment processes are often covered there. by jasonpswan89 (Thu 31st Mar 2022 10:29am)
  • If the site you are travelling to is not considered your local office (check contract), then your work should be allowing you to expense this. Otherwise I'd explain the situation and maybe they can make alternate arrangements for you. by jasonpswan89 (Thu 31st Mar 2022 10:26am)
  • No worries man. Good luck with the hunt. If you are concerned they are ripping you off, look specifically for a grad scheme in your area of experience. Sure, the salary will be less, but you'll have training and learning built into your plan with clear progression paths leading to salary increases. by jasonpswan89 (Thu 31st Mar 2022 10:42am)
  • Very few bars etc will accept them. Passport or Driving License are the norm so I'd grab one of those if you don't want to get knocked back. by jasonpswan89 (Sat 2nd Apr 2022 1:16pm)
  • Try LinkedIn, you might find better insight than here by jasonpswan89 (Sat 2nd Apr 2022 4:33pm)
  • This btw, I imagine they'll see the appeal and just chuck it out 🤷‍♂️ by jasonpswan89 (Sun 3rd Apr 2022 9:09am)
  • Aww your fine to travel in by it, just don't be hanging about there if unfamiliar with the city. It kind of gets a bad rap to be fair but there isn't much nearby worth checking out honestly. by jasonpswan89 (Wed 6th Apr 2022 12:54pm)
  • Avoid Central Station as it's a cesspit at weekends with drunken teenagers, beggars etc. As for where to check out, it depends on budget. You'll find reasonably cheap places with decent enough cocktails or you can pay more and go somewhere a little nicer. Honestly just head to Merchant City and you'll be grand 🤷‍♂️ by jasonpswan89 (Wed 6th Apr 2022 12:49pm)
  • Naaa but I'd probably give a shout to whoever uses it currently, just as a matter if courtesy as opposed to necessity by jasonpswan89 (Fri 8th Apr 2022 8:37am)
  • No idea why this is being down voted. Gay people deserve their own space and straight people should respect that. While being cliquey can been seen as a downside approaching a group will often be difficult regardless of their sexuality, people are entitled to be friends with who they want. by jasonpswan89 (Fri 8th Apr 2022 1:21pm)
  • Honestly I'd try making friends on a dating app or take a straight friend with you to the bar. It's much easier to make friends when you are with someone else as it doesn't feel quite as much like a single person invading their group. I don't have a huge amount of LGBT+ friends but I actually have made a few good ones by meeting them for a date and becoming friends after there was no romantic connection. I've then made even more by going to gay bars with straight friends and ending up chatting to people, sharing a table with them etc. I have noticed the cliques but I appreciate that people want to stick to who they know and having a single person approach their group may feel invasive, especially a stranger. Don't give up, don't feel unwelcome in gay spaces, and hey- just have fun 🤷‍♂️ by jasonpswan89 (Fri 8th Apr 2022 1:25pm)
  • Please don't let what you've experienced put you off trying to meet friends on the scene btw, once Dels is back open hmu and we can grab a pint, I'll be yer first gay mate haha 🤓 by jasonpswan89 (Fri 8th Apr 2022 3:25pm)
  • Yeah they can't but honestly straight people have enough spaces, can't there be a few bars where it's for the LGBT+ community? by jasonpswan89 (Fri 8th Apr 2022 4:41pm)
  • You'd think we'd have a sticky for this question by now eh 🤦‍♂️ by jasonpswan89 (Wed 13th Apr 2022 7:05pm)
  • Just wait for Glasgow Live to message you for their names and you'll see the story there by the end of the day OP. by jasonpswan89 (Thu 14th Apr 2022 1:34pm)
  • Honestly just chap their door and have a word If they're young they might not realise how much noise travels and that mate by jasonpswan89 (Thu 14th Apr 2022 2:15pm)
  • Most don't take bookings for that time You basically join the queue, or Uber / call one and wait at work mate Shite but seems to be the only options these days by jasonpswan89 (Sat 16th Apr 2022 8:43am)
  • You'll get cunts everywhere I walked outside my flat in Dennistoun once and had someone call me a faggot because I had a colourful shirt on (I do shaggy guys, but that's beside the point) I've lived in this flat for 5 years and that's the only time it happened Moral of the story, don't judge an area on one bellend, you do you and ignore the ignorant degenerate fucks mate by jasonpswan89 (Sat 16th Apr 2022 8:40am)
  • Just remember to check the gates before letting them off the leash. The number of people who leave the gate open when leaving with their dogs is mental sometimes. by jasonpswan89 (Mon 18th Apr 2022 6:58am)
  • Normally I'd say Delmonicas but it's currently closed for a renovation. The riding room (cabaret part of Polo) may be open, not sure about a Monday but it is on other nights. Katie's Bar or Speak Easy on John Street are options too. And Bonjour is normally a good shout but closed on Mondays. by jasonpswan89 (Mon 18th Apr 2022 12:36pm)
  • I think Polo is the only gay club open on a Monday night tbf so OP might want to look at other clubs and see what's open on the off chance Polo knocks them back by jasonpswan89 (Mon 18th Apr 2022 2:09pm)
  • I see enough people complaining about it on FB. Apparently people park round here and then train to town etc 🤷‍♂️ by jasonpswan89 (Fri 22nd Apr 2022 1:11pm)
  • You can fly from Glasgow, Edinburgh or Prestwick easily. All 3 have cheap flights and decent options, I've done Berlin, Barcelona, Lanzarote and Malaga in the last few months. by jasonpswan89 (Sun 1st May 2022 3:25pm)
  • Let's hope that she has the decency to not attempt to lead the council again in that case. I've voted SNP as my first choice in every election since I turned 18 and couldn't bring myself to do it given the ridiculousness of this woman. by jasonpswan89 (Fri 6th May 2022 2:42pm)
  • Dels, Riding Room, The Gallery, Slay, Bonjour are all options- check their social media's. Basically any gay bar will be likely to show it (from experience) and most of those are in the Merchant City. by jasonpswan89 (Fri 13th May 2022 12:05pm)
  • If you are a mixed group I'd suggest somewhere in Merchant City. Brutti Compadres does amazing cocktails and you have decent choices around the area for all other things too. by jasonpswan89 (Tue 17th May 2022 12:02pm)
  • Service isn't great though, I went on a Thursday night and the staff generally seemed disinterested, wandering around without actually doing anything. We'd planned to stay for food but literally left after 1 drink and went elsewhere since no-one came back to check if we actually wanted to order. by jasonpswan89 (Tue 17th May 2022 12:04pm)
  • I'm sure they do a Thursday meet up from reddit. Alternatively stand at a bar in a pub and chat to randoms. I used to sit at the bar in Variety Bar (Sauchiehall) after work and end up chatting to loads of people. Bumble have a friend option as opposed to just dating. Hell go on Tinder dates and if they're sound but there's no spark become their pal, I've made a few pals like that over the past year or so. by jasonpswan89 (Fri 20th May 2022 5:01pm)
  • I'm around £60 give or take. by jasonpswan89 (Mon 23rd May 2022 8:43pm)
  • I work from home too. Before this hike I was literally less than £30 a month so I feel aggreviated at paying £60 now..... by jasonpswan89 (Mon 23rd May 2022 9:06pm)
  • £70 sounds fair, double that for a flat with a lot less space is just downright sickening 🤦‍♂️ by jasonpswan89 (Mon 23rd May 2022 9:22pm)
  • Isn't the issue not more around then not being willing to work overtime or on rest days though as opposed to them being on strike? Scotrail are seemingly trying to train more staff which was delayed due to Covid but the drivers aren't doing themselves any favours right now- the public are frustrated at not being able to get trains before and after certain times, which is after the period where we had no Sunday trains for months on end. by jasonpswan89 (Wed 25th May 2022 7:48am)
  • 15 minutes sounds not bad, I'm flying down tomorrow so no Monday madness thankfully. by jasonpswan89 (Wed 25th May 2022 5:03pm)
  • Aye I might aswell book that if it means longer in bed eh! by jasonpswan89 (Wed 25th May 2022 5:26pm)
  • No idea why this was down voted, being willing to pay extra to skip security is seemingly a bad thing by jasonpswan89 (Wed 25th May 2022 7:30pm)
  • Aye megabus is a lot cheaper. I get the train through for work sometimes and it's a bawhair off £30 by jasonpswan89 (Mon 30th May 2022 7:56pm)
  • I'd try Variety or Max's to meet people, both cool pubs, not sure if they'll let you in solo, I'd just say you are meeting a friend there 🤷‍♂️ Pubs are defo easier than clubs for getting in alone tbf by jasonpswan89 (Tue 31st May 2022 4:38pm)
  • Both tend to turn away solo people these days, or so I've heard/seen people complain anyway by jasonpswan89 (Tue 31st May 2022 4:36pm)
  • https://www.reddit.com/r/glasgow/comments/v0nata/young_scot_cards_taken_as_id_in_any_clubs_in/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share Mainly a no by the look of it, sorry. by jasonpswan89 (Thu 2nd Jun 2022 4:47pm)
  • As far as I know most clubs will refuse them, most bars too. I'm sure someone asked this a few days ago, there might have been some good suggestions there if you take a look back. by jasonpswan89 (Thu 2nd Jun 2022 4:46pm)
  • Doubt any pub will take open notes tbh, risk of contamination etc by jasonpswan89 (Fri 3rd Jun 2022 3:02pm)
  • It closes before 6 on a Sunday. It's only open from ~10 to ~6 mate, makes no sense that it hasn't changed as Sunday opening hours have changed. by jasonpswan89 (Sun 5th Jun 2022 11:31am)
  • Ahh I see, maybe they ought to change that then and do it during the night as opposed to closing before most shops & restaurants do. by jasonpswan89 (Sun 5th Jun 2022 2:27pm)
  • Doubt you'll find a late night bar outside the city centre honestly. by jasonpswan89 (Tue 7th Jun 2022 6:34am)
  • Fuck knows, I assumed for a late night bar they wanted something open till 3 a la Max's, Howlin Wolf etc by jasonpswan89 (Tue 7th Jun 2022 1:39pm)
  • I stayed in KP a few years back on Brand Street, really liked the area and always found it safe considering I lived near the lodge and above the Louden. Only ever had the potential for trouble once and it was a drunk woman who worked in the pub who was apologetic for weeks after cos the punters told her to shut the fuck up upon realising we lived there. by jasonpswan89 (Wed 8th Jun 2022 7:40am)
  • Aye if only they showed up on time and were somewhat reliable, never mind that a taxi will take you door to door where you want to go while sometimes you need 2-3 buses to get to places. by jasonpswan89 (Wed 8th Jun 2022 11:01am)
  • Until we do people won't opt to use them. Never mind the other problems of public transport- no single transferable ticket across the network, the fact that buses/trains only run every 30 minutes at best outside peak times, the cost, the way they pack in so many people, never mind the smoking etc on half the buses that pass through a scheme. by jasonpswan89 (Wed 8th Jun 2022 11:22am)
  • If we were going to we'd have done it by now 🤷‍♂️ by jasonpswan89 (Wed 8th Jun 2022 1:05pm)
  • Well have we seen any reasonable improvement in the last few decades to public transport in Glasgow? No, so why expect it to happen now. I'd love to see the German model adopted but can't see it happening. by jasonpswan89 (Wed 8th Jun 2022 1:15pm)
  • Before 7:30am or after 7:30pm probably. Anywhere between them and you'll have to avoid students and cars etc. by jasonpswan89 (Fri 10th Jun 2022 1:59pm)
  • What's this 10pm curfew? Are places shutting early as a result of the lack of later trains etc? by jasonpswan89 (Mon 13th Jun 2022 6:28pm)
  • That'll depend entirely on your interests. Have a look through the sun, there's been a lot of similar posts lately- you might find something of interest there. Or if you want suggestions specific to you then note what you like to do or so when you visit places, then you might get something that people may not think to suggest normally. by jasonpswan89 (Sun 19th Jun 2022 2:03pm)
  • Haha indeed I did, fuck the rag that is the sun!! by jasonpswan89 (Sun 19th Jun 2022 5:40pm)
  • Probably is that it isn't Dennistoun, it's Haghill (which I'd apparently a dive). Seems to be a lot of Letting Agents calling it Dennistoun these days in the hope of getting people in without then realising. by jasonpswan89 (Mon 20th Jun 2022 3:17pm)
  • Get fucked creep by jasonpswan89 (Tue 21st Jun 2022 10:31pm)

  • They said inclusive, the owner is definitely not that. by jasonpswan89 (Sat 25th Jun 2022 10:29am)
  • Fucked over multiple female staff for holiday pay, allowed staff to be openly homophobic to other staff, even promoted someone to supervisor and scheduled them to work with an lgbt+ member of staff after they complained. by jasonpswan89 (Sat 25th Jun 2022 1:16pm)
  • Go tell the people at pride that, see how they respond by jasonpswan89 (Sat 25th Jun 2022 2:34pm)
  • They need to legalise them for adults, maybe a provisional at least, and take scooters off any kids, maybe charge the parents or something. They are amazing in Europe (Berlin for example) but cunts here ruin it. by jasonpswan89 (Sat 25th Jun 2022 6:35pm)
  • If you want one to do some work in I'd suggest Tinderbox, it's towards the Dumbarton Road end of Byres Road. by jasonpswan89 (Sun 26th Jun 2022 7:46am)
  • Maybe so, but it may be a good way to stop kids from using them. Especially if we go down the European method of having them be rentable. by jasonpswan89 (Sun 26th Jun 2022 2:09pm)
  • There's also a student specific version of this too, just Google that and have a look. by jasonpswan89 (Mon 27th Jun 2022 9:50am)
  • There's no way you need a permit with some of the horrendous shite you see and hear in that town honestly. by jasonpswan89 (Mon 27th Jun 2022 1:44pm)
  • Dennistoun itself is nice. Check if where you are moving is Dennistoun or Haghill though as Haghill is considered a shitehole and generally rougher than Dennistoun. Good local amenities, walking distance to town, some nice restaurants & cafes, couple of decent pubs. by jasonpswan89 (Tue 28th Jun 2022 11:15am)
  • Orange Walk, an excuse for the bigots of Glasgow to congregate and shame themselves and this city. by jasonpswan89 (Sat 2nd Jul 2022 10:08am)
  • That is incorrect. There was once claims that the Pokémon Jynx represented blackface and racist stereotypes, it was then proven that the representation was based on Japanese trends which in turn had no basis in racism or anything else to do with negative stereotypes of black people. In order to remove these negative comparisons the Pokémon company made the decision to recolour Jynx to purple and remove it from all anime appearances. If the best justification you have for allowing bigoted nonsense is that someone else might have done it then that's ridiculous. by jasonpswan89 (Sat 2nd Jul 2022 1:09pm)
  • It's a bar where people go to drink and have fun. There are quieter bars if you want to chat mate. by jasonpswan89 (Sun 3rd Jul 2022 7:22pm)
  • Celentanos, it's just next to the Necropolis and the food is amazing by jasonpswan89 (Tue 5th Jul 2022 5:03pm)
  • Why on earth they decided to have this in a massive city instead of a field somewhere will always confuse me. They also need to make it over 18, no-one wants to see half naked teens crawling about the streets covered in their own sick. by jasonpswan89 (Fri 8th Jul 2022 2:35pm)
  • And shuts the green for weeks either side of it too by jasonpswan89 (Fri 8th Jul 2022 2:42pm)
  • So because people want it means they should get it? Either that or they just drunk tank the kids, they end up in horrendous conditions over the course of the weekend. by jasonpswan89 (Fri 8th Jul 2022 2:45pm)
  • There's a Dennistoun Information Page on Facebook. I'd suggest asking there if you want locals opinions, and given you live in Dennistoun currently it may be useful anyway. by jasonpswan89 (Fri 8th Jul 2022 3:14pm)
  • There's an event called Thirsty Thursdays Keep an eye out for that, seems to be a reddit meet up by jasonpswan89 (Sat 9th Jul 2022 10:04pm)
  • Citizen M have a decent area for stuff like this, or you may be able to rent a desk for the day in I shared office. Haven't done the latter myself yet but it always seems possible and reasonable. Just as a note if its a WFH job you may wish to let them know about potential noise issues, I've heard of people having offers withdrawn at a later date once it becomes clear that they don't have a suitable work environment. by jasonpswan89 (Tue 12th Jul 2022 12:41am)
  • Fuck you Tory cunt by jasonpswan89 (Tue 12th Jul 2022 5:38pm)
  • Places to visit depends on what your interests are, have a search of the sub and loads of suggestions will have been posted within similar queries. Gay Bars tend to be based around Merchant City. Delmonicas, Riding Room and Gallery are pretty popular. Katie's, Speak Easy and Underground are round the corner from them on John Street. For clubs you have Polo or AXM. You're uni will also likely have an LGBTQIA+ or Queer society for you to join so give that a look if you wanna make friends to go with too. As for Cinema, there's a couple in city centre. Cineworld and the Vue are in town, others are further out. I don't think any are mind-blowing but they do the job. by jasonpswan89 (Tue 19th Jul 2022 10:16am)
  • Library will be the only place really. If OP is a student then their libraries will be quiet over summer too. by jasonpswan89 (Tue 19th Jul 2022 6:04pm)
  • Bet they cost a fortune too, cost of living n what not mate by jasonpswan89 (Tue 19th Jul 2022 10:53pm)

  • Singl-end is a good shout by jasonpswan89 (Fri 22nd Jul 2022 10:19pm)
  • Most places in town close or stop doing food around 11pm I'd say. Most of the places that opened late closed a while ago so your options will be hella limited these days outside of the kebab//McDs etc that you mentioned, especially if you want to sit in somewhere. by jasonpswan89 (Mon 25th Jul 2022 5:22pm)
  • Weather is mostly pish here in that period but if you want less likelihood of torrential rain or snow then do the Jan-May one. Travel won't be affected much by which semester. There's always stuff on but it depends on your interests. And please don't call it fall when you come here mate. by jasonpswan89 (Mon 25th Jul 2022 5:20pm)
  • I'd recommend asking this question on a Statistics sub in all honesty, I doubt many people have a sufficient knowledge if statistics to answer this question. Maybe you work out the statistical likelihood of getting applicable responses..... by jasonpswan89 (Tue 26th Jul 2022 8:23am)
  • Other than lieing that two of you are a couple then turning the living room into a bedroom you might struggle. Most HMOs are 4/5 bedrooms as the license cost can be prohibitive otherwise. Honestly if you want a 3 bedroom with less hassle you would probably have more luck on gumtree but you'll end up with a dodger landlord. Myself and 2 friends looked for a flat a few years ago and ended up with one of them dropping out so we could get a 2 bedroom, might honestly be the easiest option. by jasonpswan89 (Tue 26th Jul 2022 12:56pm)
  • Soon to be glue by jasonpswan89 (Tue 26th Jul 2022 3:13pm)
  • Smart/casual you are fine for them. Polo and AXM allow people in a number of different outfits, especially based on events. Check their instagram/Facebook and take a look through their albums, you'll get a good idea of what the crowd wears that way. by jasonpswan89 (Wed 27th Jul 2022 1:41pm)
  • Not as bad as people think, keep to yourself and no-one bothers you. Most people are decent and will look out for you. by jasonpswan89 (Thu 28th Jul 2022 8:53pm)
  • Bumble has a BFF option, my friend used it for a while as she wanted to expand her social circle and she met some cool people through it by jasonpswan89 (Fri 29th Jul 2022 2:14pm)
  • Variety isn't too bad (or wasn't), haven't been before. It depends what end of town you are at really, if you are near Charing Cross then heading 2 minutes up Woodlands Road to the Arlington isn't a bad shout either. by jasonpswan89 (Fri 29th Jul 2022 2:26pm)
  • You can set it to just women then and make friends with other women, sure that's what my friend did by jasonpswan89 (Fri 29th Jul 2022 5:58pm)

  • Spare room has a student specific version; might wanna check there too btw by jasonpswan89 (Thu 11th Aug 2022 5:49pm)
  • If you are wanting to promote tech apprenticeships I'd get in touch with Multiverse. I interviewed with them and was genuinely interested, they seem to be doing it right so could potentially partner with you. As for with adults, I suppose I'd suggest getting them access to boot camps might be good. Work with the job centre on that, potentially host them in libraries etc too. I'm assuming you work for government/council as opposed to for a private company otherwise my recommendation won't work obviously. by jasonpswan89 (Fri 12th Aug 2022 1:38pm)
  • I'd also consider looking at Euro Hostel as a temporary option, maybe couch surfing and staying at some friend's too, the latter option being easier if you already live here and have friends obviously. by jasonpswan89 (Sat 13th Aug 2022 2:09pm)
  • I always just assumed it was people from Edinburgh etc who referred to Glaswegians as Weegies? by jasonpswan89 (Sat 13th Aug 2022 2:07pm)
  • You'll likely have more success with the university than with the local authority, especially if you don't currently live in the city as I'm not certain the council will help otherwise honestly. by jasonpswan89 (Sat 13th Aug 2022 2:06pm)
  • Fucken A mate! by jasonpswan89 (Sat 13th Aug 2022 2:55pm)

  • Have ticket if it's a ticketed event. Show up, queue, don't be a dick, don't be top drunk/high to stand, show ID, enter the club. Same as anywhere else to be honest. by jasonpswan89 (Sat 13th Aug 2022 3:11pm)
  • I love renting one in Berlin as its a great way to explore the city It'd need to be 18+ only, the amount of kids and teenagers already kicking about on them while they are illegal is ridiculous. Not helped by the fact they mostly use pavements which they fly up and down too. Plus the potholes here are mental, I wouldn't fancy going over/into one of them on an electric scooter. by jasonpswan89 (Sun 14th Aug 2022 7:44am)
  • It's never been this bad. Remote working has seen people from across the UK move here as it's flats are/were cheaper and general cost of living is/was better too. Plus with the influx of students coming in after last year was mostly remote the market just went crazy. I've heard of people renting out their living rooms to people and charging ridiculous amounts as people are so desperate to find somewhere. by jasonpswan89 (Sun 14th Aug 2022 7:42am)
  • Honestly it's probably just gonna get worse as more people try to move here, the unis need to re-evaluate their policies and consider the impact on people of offering so many places when there are so few rental options available nowadays. If you have any friends here then crashing with them short term might be your best option until you find somewhere. by jasonpswan89 (Sun 14th Aug 2022 8:15am)
  • Did you go to college or university? If you have an undergraduate from a uni you can apply to loads of grad schemes, most don't care what your degree was in. I work in tech and there's people who work with me who did humanities etc. Remote jobs are also a good option, and would save money on travel/transport too which could be beneficial depending how much you spend a day? by jasonpswan89 (Sun 14th Aug 2022 12:12pm)
  • Yip my bad, that was a shit suggestion then. by jasonpswan89 (Sun 14th Aug 2022 1:48pm)

  • Complaining about something steeped in bigotry suddenly makes someone a bigot? I think their main concern is around the frequency too, I can't think of any marches as common in Glasgow as the Orange Walk. by jasonpswan89 (Sat 20th Aug 2022 11:24am)
  • I reckon most people get annoyed with these kinds of marches, especially given the religious associations and no doubt the football ones too. And that includes the Hibernian matches too btw. Personally I'd ban all ones like that, or at least have them on once or twice a year akin to Pride // IndyRef marches etc. by jasonpswan89 (Sat 20th Aug 2022 11:22am)
  • God forbid, they all go to NI for that to start bonfires and burn effigies though by jasonpswan89 (Sat 20th Aug 2022 11:49am)
  • Valid point I was expecting the usual response from supporters of the walk about the "other lot" so was pre-emptively stating my opposition to all forms of religious march taking place in the city. by jasonpswan89 (Sat 20th Aug 2022 5:57pm)
  • Why are you still bring neighbourly about it? You've gave him the chance to fix it, if you have proof people doing work for him caused the damage then tell him you're hiring someone and he's paying for it. by jasonpswan89 (Sat 20th Aug 2022 7:22pm)
  • Valid point, just be careful he's not taking your niceness as an excuse to not follow up by jasonpswan89 (Sat 20th Aug 2022 7:26pm)
  • Iceland are apparently offering interest free short term loans of £25-100, might be an option if you've no friends who can help you out atm. For food (if struggling with money for that) there's food banks, and I believe Sikh temples (could be wrong about the specific group here but seen something on a similar post) that offer free meals if you are struggling. by jasonpswan89 (Sat 20th Aug 2022 7:25pm)
  • It's not just Glasgow, it's the whole of Scotland. It's especially prominent after we've been down south or gone abroad too ha by jasonpswan89 (Sun 21st Aug 2022 8:26am)

  • It's defo not £21k unless you live at home with parents and have no expenses. It depends on your lifestyle and outgoings but personally I'd be looking at £50k plus. by jasonpswan89 (Tue 23rd Aug 2022 7:15am)

  • Yes it's hard. A lot of people want ro live in Glasgow due to it being cheaper (or at least it was) than other big cities across the UK. Plus it's student season so you're even less likely to find something right now. by jasonpswan89 (Thu 25th Aug 2022 9:00am)

  • Read rvery 3rd post from the past week and check the recommendations there, they'll be the same as you might see here albeit with less anger given we're all getting a bit pissed off seeing variations of the same "I'm a student and can't find a flat" post multiple times a day. by jasonpswan89 (Fri 26th Aug 2022 10:24pm)
  • Aye there's a strike, like half the country. Also let's not pretend Glasgow's ever been that clean with cunts dropping shit at their arses on the daily, especially in the town by jasonpswan89 (Fri 26th Aug 2022 10:22pm)
  • There's not likely to be much difference in price. You can buy in advance and collect on the day from a machine or buy on the day at a machine/counter. I go through once or twice a month for work and I just buy it on the day, mainly because I travel at peak times so the price is always the same (ridiculously high). by jasonpswan89 (Sat 27th Aug 2022 10:54am)
  • Yer fucked, as are the umpteen people a day posting the same thing. by jasonpswan89 (Mon 29th Aug 2022 4:52pm)
  • Read the past 10 posts, likely 3 of them are asking a similar question, or use the search bar and type in accommodation. You might find advice there. by jasonpswan89 (Tue 30th Aug 2022 9:32pm)
  • Get fucked with this shit honestly. People here are seeing multiple of these posts a day, are you surprised we get annoyed at people who can't read the previous few posts by jasonpswan89 (Tue 30th Aug 2022 9:30pm)
  • Naa we're just sick of it mate. Take the time to check a sub to see if your question has been asked recently, it's not rocket science. by jasonpswan89 (Tue 30th Aug 2022 10:55pm)
  • There's actually a surprising large amount of Vietnamese people in Glasgow, as evidenced by the number of authentic Vietnamese restaurants owned by Vietnamese people which have a large number of Vietnamese customers in them. Obviously not on the scale of some other nationalities but a not insignificant amount of immigrants are Vietnamese. by jasonpswan89 (Wed 31st Aug 2022 10:49am)
  • I used to work at a Vietnamese restaurant in the city and we had a large contigent of Vietnamese customers who'd come in regularly. I'll reach out to some friends who work there and see if they can find out some information about if/what churches they attend. by jasonpswan89 (Wed 31st Aug 2022 10:47am)
  • Yip both of these have Vietnamese owners and chefs, plus I believe the one near Central does too come to think of it. by jasonpswan89 (Wed 31st Aug 2022 3:08pm)
  • Yeah Hanoi bike shop doesn't have Vietnamese owners, and to my knowledge doesn't have Vietnamese chefs either. by jasonpswan89 (Wed 31st Aug 2022 3:08pm)
  • You're best bet will be to get on a waiting list with a couple. Seemingly they're all really busy post covid. by jasonpswan89 (Wed 31st Aug 2022 5:42pm)
  • If that's pre tax then absolutely not. Post tax you might be able to live alone but you won't be able to save much, especially if you want a decent QoL, and then factoring in the Cost of Living increase, inflation, and the shitshow of finding a flat in Glasgow atm.... by jasonpswan89 (Thu 1st Sep 2022 4:51pm)
  • Why would they? No parent will send their kids to school on those days. Also can't wait to see the media trotting out all the people complaining that teachers shouldn't be allowed to strike as then parents have to find alternate care for their kids. Painting the teachers as being unreasonable for wanting the same QoL as last year which, even at that point, was disgracefully low. by jasonpswan89 (Fri 2nd Sep 2022 7:48am)
  • Some may earn that but the majority don't. I have friends who are teachers who make nowhere near that. by jasonpswan89 (Fri 2nd Sep 2022 7:58am)
  • Aww shit, OK I've defo read your post wrong in that case. Wait, are teachers expected to clean their classrooms? Isn't that what cleaners are for? Surely that would be considered crossing the picket line. by jasonpswan89 (Fri 2nd Sep 2022 8:07am)
  • Well in that case I withdraw my majority comment, my perception was skewed by the fact most of my friends have been teachers for 1-3 years. I honestly believe it should be significantly higher than 42k though, albeit accepting that's still a decent salary compared to many people. Whilst I don't have kids I can see the value that teachers bring in helping to raise, shape and influence the future generations. by jasonpswan89 (Fri 2nd Sep 2022 8:05am)
  • I hope this is a cry for help, in which case please take the advice posted by others. And please ignore the dms of any troll suggesting you do anything stupid. by jasonpswan89 (Fri 2nd Sep 2022 8:28am)
  • Yes I'm aware and have accepted that fact as you'll have noticed. I don't need it repeated, thanks. by jasonpswan89 (Fri 2nd Sep 2022 9:47am)
  • I meant if they were doing other jobs that would normally be done by others while at work if they can't teach. I would assume that would be crossing the picket as they would effectively be doing the work normally done by striking workers? by jasonpswan89 (Fri 2nd Sep 2022 5:27pm)
  • Also depending where you live, I'd post in a local FB group for crutches if you want them. Friend of mine did this and someone dropped a pair round within the hour. by jasonpswan89 (Sun 4th Sep 2022 11:03am)
  • I fell down some stairs a few months ago and sprained my ankle. I doubt A&E will help, you'll just waste hours of your life. I called NHS24 and was given an appointment a few days later. Got crutches but they barely helped as hobbling was easier. Pitting my foot in ice for 20 minutes a day helped the most. I doubt cream will help, swallow some ibuprofen and keep your foot elevated. by jasonpswan89 (Sun 4th Sep 2022 11:02am)
  • We need a sticky for this, then all these cunts wanting told what to do and where to go cam just read that instead of asking an inane question with zero context about interests etc. One for "Curate my day/night/weekend" And another one for "Looking for a flat" by jasonpswan89 (Sun 4th Sep 2022 2:28pm)

  • I believe the most common complaint about the orange matches is around their frequency. Additionally you rarely hear of counter protests at these marches, although you can bet those objecting today were doing so as bigots as opposed to due to any sense of community etc. by jasonpswan89 (Sat 10th Sep 2022 3:52pm)
  • I used to run coffee shops in the west end which Frankie Boyle frequented, was actually always brand new if you weren't intrusive about saying hello or that. He did pretend to be raging at one of my new staff once at my request when they asked for a photo though ha by jasonpswan89 (Sun 11th Sep 2022 9:54am)
  • Iclf you rented from a private landlord then highly unlikely to be a council house. Also council houses are fine, some areas where council houses are the predominant housing type have bad reputations but council houses themselves are fine. by jasonpswan89 (Sun 11th Sep 2022 1:54pm)
  • Aye most likely this by jasonpswan89 (Sun 11th Sep 2022 1:59pm)
  • Coffee shops might be an idea but most people writing may be focused on writing. As for creative spaces in general to be around other creative try reaching out to places you like the look of to ask if they have spaces for shit like that. by jasonpswan89 (Sun 11th Sep 2022 1:58pm)
  • I was in the anime shop in St Enoch looking for a pokemon plush for a friends child, they had some people in the back playing games and stuff, maybe head there next time-out you're in town and enquire by jasonpswan89 (Sun 11th Sep 2022 2:00pm)
  • I'd post on a local FB group, people are always looking for moving boxes. Another option could be calling a charity shop, they often take used carrier bags so might take boxes to give to customers to carry their purchases. Otherwise surely they are recyclable and could be put in a recycling bin. by jasonpswan89 (Sun 11th Sep 2022 2:38pm)
  • Berlin or Barcelona honestly. Decent tech scenes, pretty Liberal cities, cool shit to do. by jasonpswan89 (Mon 12th Sep 2022 7:27am)
  • Depends on why you wanna meet people, what your intentions are. Additionally it'll depend on your interests in general, such as type of music. Finally what night you are here will obviously have a huge impact too. by jasonpswan89 (Mon 12th Sep 2022 7:30am)
  • Seems like you are complaining about people using the free bus passes which were given to them? So in a cost of living crisis you are raging at people trying to save money on transport, seems like a valid outlook to me..... by jasonpswan89 (Mon 12th Sep 2022 7:28pm)

  • Max's is a great pub, it's a dive but it doesn't pretend to be anything else. Also a huge fan of Chinaskis for a date, not necessarily somewhere I'd go just for a pint. Suppose it depends what yer after. by jasonpswan89 (Fri 16th Sep 2022 7:36am)
  • Ahh that's shite, I used to work nearby and was a big fan of an after work pint there by jasonpswan89 (Fri 16th Sep 2022 10:27am)
  • I quite like the Necropolis for this. Take a book, wander along and find somewhere out the way to sit and read your book while the world passes you by. by jasonpswan89 (Fri 16th Sep 2022 12:00pm)

  • Honestly for that age range I'd suggest Arta down the merchant City as most other clubs will be a fair bit younger and more studenty by jasonpswan89 (Mon 19th Sep 2022 11:52am)
  • As well as Python I'd also suggest learning SQL as most DBMS use this in one form or another, so especially if you have any interest in Data Analysis then this could be very useful and obviously gives you more options too. by jasonpswan89 (Thu 22nd Sep 2022 6:52am)
  • For a one bed! Holy fuck, I don't pay much more than £600 for a 2 bed by jasonpswan89 (Fri 23rd Sep 2022 11:33am)
  • Still cheaper than a lot of flats in Dennistoun these days eh by jasonpswan89 (Fri 23rd Sep 2022 11:30am)
  • Dennistoun, 2 bed is barely over £600. Was £550 for a few years and has only increased once in 5 years too. by jasonpswan89 (Fri 23rd Sep 2022 3:40pm)

  • It'll be nowhere near as bad, there won't be all sorts of delegates and shit. It'll be full of normal people and a significantly lower number than came for COP26 too. by jasonpswan89 (Tue 27th Sep 2022 4:13pm)
  • The event in general is queer as fuck. The city will be full of other LGBT+ people, a lot of whom will go to activities across the city curing this time. And from a personal perspective, Grindr will be full of hot Europeans so. by jasonpswan89 (Tue 27th Sep 2022 4:24pm)
  • You believe your concern is justified. Most people will agree its good for the city generall and it's going to be nowhere near as intrusive as COP was. by jasonpswan89 (Tue 27th Sep 2022 4:25pm)
  • I think it's cos Rangers are shite and most people expect them to get humped off Liverpool so don't want a fun event hinging on that haha by jasonpswan89 (Tue 27th Sep 2022 5:06pm)

  • Bars are fine with this, maybe some of them don't like you and don't want you putting off other punters by trying to be their friends when they aren't interested by jasonpswan89 (Fri 30th Sep 2022 11:37pm)
  • If your area has a local Facebook page you should get some decent recs on there, it's a common question on the Dennistoun one so might be similar where you are. by jasonpswan89 (Sat 1st Oct 2022 8:07am)
  • Most places you can stand at the bar. I do it in the pubs I go to. My suggestion was it could be down to him as opposed to being a rule. Generally OP would be best drinking elsewhere if the ones he frequents don't let them stand at the bar. Also they said they did it to make friends, I inferred some places may have had bad experiences with customers trying to be over friendly and thus brought in this rule. by jasonpswan89 (Sat 1st Oct 2022 8:32am)
  • I go for a pint myself a lot, someone I don't know trying to engage me in chat is often seriously off-putting most of the time. People get offended when you don't engage back, suddenly you're the arsehole for wanting a quick pint. by jasonpswan89 (Sat 1st Oct 2022 8:40am)

  • I doubt you'll find a specific one. If a student, spareroom has a student specific version. Otherwise you'd be best finding a friend who also wants to move in somewhere and looking with them. The market in Glasgow is crazy atm though so you may struggle as an 18 year old to find anything within your price range. by jasonpswan89 (Tue 4th Oct 2022 11:56am)
  • If you come to Glasgow for the game do not go to a Rangers bar. You'll get a bad impression, same as you would with a Celtic bar for one of their games. Go to a neutral bar and you'll enjoy it more. by jasonpswan89 (Tue 4th Oct 2022 11:43pm)

  • Come when you can afford. Weather is shite and unpredictable a lot of the time. Winters can be cold, and usually are, as aell as wet. The locals don't become antisocial but I also wouldn't come here expecting everyone to be your best pal. If you look for it I'm sure you could make some friends but rocking up to every bar expecting everyone to be your best friend isn't gonna end well. by jasonpswan89 (Fri 14th Oct 2022 7:46am)
  • Can't comment on the college as I never had to attend it, there are a few different locations across the city though as far as I know so be aware if that. As for the rental market, it doesn't calm down, this is the worst its been for years, its not just students, it's people moving here, properties leaving the market etc. You'll need to just look a lot, as a student you'll likely have more luck finding a room than a ehole flat, which will also be more affordable too. by jasonpswan89 (Sun 16th Oct 2022 7:52am)
  • Honestly the cats will make it much harder. As will being a student looking for a 1 bedroom. You'll struggle to find a 1 bed in the city, especially a reasonably priced one, I'd look further afield honestly- EK, Paisley etc. by jasonpswan89 (Sun 16th Oct 2022 8:39am)
  • I was a mature student who went to uni at 26, some landlords just have a no student policy. Bigger hurdle will be the pets honestly, so many properties just have a blanket no pets policy which is a bit shite but very common. by jasonpswan89 (Sun 16th Oct 2022 8:53am)
  • I'd suggest posting in the marketplace too, then it'll be included in the daily roundup post by jasonpswan89 (Sun 16th Oct 2022 4:42pm)

  • 37k is grand. You'll have a decent quality of life here with that, just avoid staying in the west end or city centre where flats can be more expensive. by jasonpswan89 (Mon 17th Oct 2022 2:15pm)
  • You want shawlands, dennistoun or the west end. Good luck finding a flat in any of those areas though. by jasonpswan89 (Mon 17th Oct 2022 2:34pm)
  • As someone said I'd reach out and ask them their policies. You may come across the odd arsehole (pun intended) that you don't like or who makes you uncomfortable but I'd hope most people would be accommodating. Alternative ways to explore your attraction would be going to gay bars/clubs and seeing who/what catches your attention. While somewhat clichey at times, loads of people are friendly and open too And it looks else fails, there's always Grindr. by jasonpswan89 (Mon 17th Oct 2022 2:36pm)

  • Rental market in Glasgow is a shitshow currently. Look outside the city, and maybe look for private landlords too. They'll likely be more accomdating to the bad credit etc than an agency would. by jasonpswan89 (Fri 28th Oct 2022 10:34am)
  • Only had to use them once or twice. Generally they take the shortest possible route between stops but will still take a lot longer than normal journey would using trains. Additionally if you are on an awkward stop where the train is normally jam packed by the time it arrives at you then you may not even get on the bus if its full. Hasn't happened to me but heard others complain about it. by jasonpswan89 (Sun 30th Oct 2022 4:18pm)
  • You'll struggle to find anything so specific honestly Rental scene is a shitshow here and there aren't any agencies that cater specifically to students. You may find some places have additional support for people with disabilities but otherwise you'll get the same recommendation as everyone posting this here. 1) search the sub and you'll find similar posts, advice there may be useful 2) look outside the city- Paisley, East Kilbride etc could be options and the commute is definitely shorter than from Edinburgh. by jasonpswan89 (Sun 30th Oct 2022 8:42pm)

  • Shitehole of a place anyway. Todd's bar was superior, and the staff there could actually pour a pint haha by jasonpswan89 (Fri 4th Nov 2022 8:36am)
  • Search the sub, accommodation questions are asked sooften now that it's a daily occurrence. You'll find advice there. Best bet, look further out, East Kilbride, Paisley etc may be better options than anywhere within Glasgow City limits. by jasonpswan89 (Tue 8th Nov 2022 7:48am)
  • Naa afraid not, I live close to the city centre and have never stayed outside the city limits so unfamiliar with the rental scene or areas outwith Glasgow. by jasonpswan89 (Tue 8th Nov 2022 8:54am)
  • Delmonicas is likely a good shout. Riding Room is next door & always great as a pre Polo (nightclub) option. Katie's is quieter than Dels but worth considering if you don't like Dels. You also have Speakeasy and Underground near Katie's too. Other options would be Slay & Bonjour too, Bonjour is the better option of this (for me) but I've heard good things shout Slay. Club wise you've got Polo or AXM as the most popular, Polo is better but have AXM as your back up as Polo are notorious for knocking people back (apparently), although I've always found them to be great personally. by jasonpswan89 (Wed 9th Nov 2022 8:18am)
  • You'll likely struggle. I'd be more specific around dates, some people have flats come empty at the start of a month, mid month etc. Also you'll likely need to look further out than near the city centre. Great transport links to all 3 of the Glasgows main university's from the surrounding areas. by jasonpswan89 (Fri 11th Nov 2022 12:36pm)

  • DELETED I shall assume you mean options in the city centre where you can get lunch for that price given you provide no context. Max's Bar do a £5 lunch deal Mon-Fri, few options and never had a shite time in there. by jasonpswan89 (Thu 17th Nov 2022 8:33am)
  • If you search the sub for "lunch" you should find some suggestions, ideally some within the price range suggested. Questions around places for lunch are fairly common so ideally someone will (or will have) suggested somewhere suitable. by jasonpswan89 (Thu 17th Nov 2022 8:39am)
  • Ahh fair, the usual context is lunch for a fiver in town haha by jasonpswan89 (Thu 17th Nov 2022 8:36am)
  • Plenty bars & clubs will habe ticketed events. Nothing similar to the street party they have through in Edinburgh sadly by jasonpswan89 (Thu 17th Nov 2022 11:09pm)
  • Aye its nothing like Edinburgh though, it's basically a ticket which let's you go into any bar on the lane by jasonpswan89 (Fri 18th Nov 2022 11:24am)
  • Hell no, but there are plenty lgbt+ friendly bars around Glasgow that are great for dates. Chinaskis, Brutti Compadres as a couple of examples by jasonpswan89 (Sun 20th Nov 2022 9:33am)

  • Where you hearing stories like this? There's a pretty anti Tory sentiment but no-one normal hates the English just for being English, the Acots are general a very accepting people and, unless yer a cunt, usually be grand mate by jasonpswan89 (Sun 20th Nov 2022 9:47am)
  • Person was likely being some obnoxious cunt, got smashed and assumed it was cos he was Englush ha You'll be grand honestly, Glasgow is a great place to live. Cheaper, friendlier, and less tourist centred than Edinburgh. by jasonpswan89 (Sun 20th Nov 2022 9:50am)
  • People here are friendly and will chat to you in most bars, unless you are trying to join their group uninvited or hit on them. If you are looking to find someone for a hookup then try a dating app. by jasonpswan89 (Sun 20th Nov 2022 7:14pm)
  • Most pubs generally then, specifically people perched at the bar, alternatively bumble has a BFF option for friends if you want to meet people to hang out and do stuff with. by jasonpswan89 (Sun 20th Nov 2022 7:16pm)
  • No intention to bump them, just want to get half the bills and rent for a few months and get myself some extra savings. by jasonpswan89 (Tue 22nd Nov 2022 9:41am)
  • Nice, I'll do that as previously it's been friends so we've done it without a contract by jasonpswan89 (Tue 22nd Nov 2022 10:12am)
  • I'd tell any potential flatmate my wishes with regards to those anyway. Especially around guests as I've heard horror stories from friends of getting flatmates where they effectively have their partner over 5 days & nights a week. Like I don't wanna rent to a couple so someone doing that will be getting removed swiftly. by jasonpswan89 (Tue 22nd Nov 2022 1:32pm)
  • No chance of that, I refuse to live with a couple as I don't wanna deal with the drama. Ideally a student coming here to study for a few months would work, less likelihood of them having a partner who's gonna show up randomly and stay for days on end. by jasonpswan89 (Tue 22nd Nov 2022 1:38pm)
  • Nice idea, will look at that too. Cheers for the tip by jasonpswan89 (Tue 22nd Nov 2022 1:42pm)
  • Would I fuck, that should be buying yous one. I buy my line manager a bottle and he buys me one, and that's just because we are friends otherwise not a chance. by jasonpswan89 (Tue 22nd Nov 2022 7:01pm)
  • West End is outside your budget, look at Southside or East End. Look at flatsharing as styaing alone is very expensive. Rental market here is a shitshow currently so be prepared to look for a while before you find anything. I also notice you stated you are in your home country, that may have an impact on visas, and a lot of companies are unable (or unwilling) to sponsor visas. Especially true in hospitality as there isn't much need for it. by jasonpswan89 (Wed 23rd Nov 2022 2:34pm)

  • In the better weather the Necropolis is good for it, find a wee quiet spot and while away hours there by jasonpswan89 (Mon 5th Dec 2022 6:21pm)
  • Might be worthwhile looking at something other than a 3 course Christmas lunch in that case. Max's has a wide and varied menu and is reasonable. It's a pub but has a good vibe and the food is always good. They posted a Christmas menu today, its not traditional Christmas lunch but a main is like £10 so might be worth taking a look. by jasonpswan89 (Mon 5th Dec 2022 7:33pm)

  • England top is likely to just have people taking the piss out you all night unless you go to a shitehole pub and some prick gets annoyed if England win and decides to be a twat. But supporting England shouldn't be an issue, when yous played Wales there were a fair few English fans in my local and no issues. by jasonpswan89 (Sat 10th Dec 2022 10:27am)

  • Mate yer talking about secret police etc. We are all struggling, the UK is fucked. If you want to earn more money skill up. I went back to uni at 25 and now work in Financial services making significantly more than I did previously. by jasonpswan89 (Sun 11th Dec 2022 12:08pm)
  • I used the word unskilled given its the most commonly used term, a better way to put it might have been a job that doesn't require any qualifications. I agree it's a shit term but the jobs don't require a specific skillset which is probably why we all use that term. by jasonpswan89 (Sun 11th Dec 2022 1:28pm)
  • I get the 900 Sometimes. I've seen that bus take a little over an hour and over two hours. Better safe than sorry, just the 7:30 bus and if you are early grab a coffee nearby. by jasonpswan89 (Sun 11th Dec 2022 9:43pm)
  • Aye that thread was mental, suggesting that you can go to uni and then get a higher paying job was seen as insulting that guy. Like mate, most of the cunts commenting are working class. by jasonpswan89 (Mon 12th Dec 2022 8:25am)
  • You'll need a flatmate for that budget. Most places around Glasgow are safe, but I'd recommend somewhere like Dennistoun given its closeness to town, good local amenities etc. Spareroom will be a good shout, bare in mind a lot of people advertise room price separate from bills so take that into account when considering it its in your budget. by jasonpswan89 (Mon 12th Dec 2022 1:40pm)
  • This is the best answer. by jasonpswan89 (Mon 12th Dec 2022 6:17pm)
  • There are a lot more than Turkish barbers in Glasgows these days. There are loads of decent barber shops about now which charge c£30 while the Turkish barbers are yer cheap alternative. In Dennistoun there are at least 3 "trendy" barbers (£20-£30) and a couple if Turkish barbers who are the alternative, and believe me the extra money is worth it. by jasonpswan89 (Tue 13th Dec 2022 7:26am)
  • Absolutely not. I was feeling shite recently, called in sick for a couple of days, no questions asked. If yer sick, yer sick mate. Don't put yourself through the pain and hassle of trying to work, ye just risk making yersel worse. by jasonpswan89 (Wed 14th Dec 2022 8:09am)

  • I already explained I gave advice to the best of my knowledge after the first person rudely advised me I was wrong. You then piled onto that, I'd call that an attack mate. Genuinely no idea why you felt the need to respond after the initial comment where I admitted I made a mistake. by jasonpswan89 (Wed 21st Dec 2022 12:32pm)
  • The manner in which you corrected me was nothing short of rude. Suggesting someone fuck themselves isn't an attack, it's advice. by jasonpswan89 (Wed 21st Dec 2022 12:38pm)

  • A lot of them go above and beyond, I'm just saying that's why I tip and why so many other people do too. by jasonpswan89 (Thu 22nd Dec 2022 9:06pm)
  • If you don't wanna too then don't tip, I just explained my reasoning for doing so which contrasts with the post I was replying to. At least in most minimum wage jobs the drunk arseholes leave quickly, in hospitality you are stuck with them for hours. Additionally, in what other job do people have the audacity to click their fingers at you. by jasonpswan89 (Fri 23rd Dec 2022 8:51am)
  • Walking about the city is good, at least you are getting out the house and doing something. Take strength from that action and keep hope. As others have mentioned, Samaritians is a good shout. Otherwise there are often socials going on, those could be a shout to attend, meet some people and engage etc. It's a hard time of year but please take solace in the strength you have already shown in even posting this and keep your head up mate. by jasonpswan89 (Fri 23rd Dec 2022 11:44am)
  • I mean the Postal Service was on strike. It could be heavily delayed by that. by jasonpswan89 (Fri 23rd Dec 2022 12:23pm)
  • Ahh if it's been that long then it's valid being annoyed. If the email confirmation has the voucher number on it then it should be sufficient I would imagine, if not then they may not take it. When I worked in hospitality each voucher had a unique code so if they are the same then I would assume the voucher would need to be present. I hope you get it resolved. by jasonpswan89 (Fri 23rd Dec 2022 12:28pm)
  • Most of those other groups you noted are protected classes, whether by race, sex etc. Junkie and Alki are colloquial terms for addicts, which are not a protected class and, at one point or another, have made decisions which have led to them being in the position they are in. I've had both in my family, know people who attended NA or AA and both sets of people still use those words in my experience. by jasonpswan89 (Mon 26th Dec 2022 10:01am)
  • The words are not acceptable to you, much like some people find the terms Hun & Fenian offensive but many do not. These are commonly used terms which have entered the popular vernacular. Comparing the N word which has horrendous connotations when used by a non black person to a word like Alki or Junkie is ridiculous and you know it. Racism is entirely different as I noted previously, protected classes. We, as a city, have a huge problem with drug users which reinforces the use of the word junkie given the behaviour witnessed and stories told of the ones who congregate near Central, especially post Covid. by jasonpswan89 (Mon 26th Dec 2022 10:13am)
  • Comparing the discrimination suffered by protected classes to that suffered by alcoholic and drug addicts is the only comment that needs challenged. The former is literally how people are born, the latter is a choice- people's decisions lead them to being in that position at some point . Not saying its an easy one to stop making, but people do it. by jasonpswan89 (Mon 26th Dec 2022 10:21am)
  • They chose it at some point was the point I was making. You still aren't addressing that comparing protected classes to addicts is ridiculous. Additionally not all addicts had horrific circumstances so you are now generalising from your own experience. I've known drug and alcohol addicts who had good lives but made poor decisions which led to them becoming addicts. by jasonpswan89 (Mon 26th Dec 2022 10:39am)
  • Could be the bars you frequent mate. My local is great, staff are friendly, service is great, never had an issue in there. As for the point around line cleaning. While most pubs were shut yesterday, would you really expect staff to be in to clean the lines? Chances are most finished late on Xmas Eve and then returned today after spending time with their family. If yer pint is pish then refuse to drink it. by jasonpswan89 (Mon 26th Dec 2022 1:53pm)
  • They don't get claimed daily. Normally every few days all the lines will be cleaned before opening but no set days, and highly unlikely anyone wanted to be doing that this morning eh by jasonpswan89 (Mon 26th Dec 2022 7:39pm)

  • Something done to improve the area around Glasgow Central. Support for the homeless and support for the addicts. It's shocking that it's got as bad as it has. A crackdown on the beggars, specifically the Romany ones being dropped off in big cars. It's effectively trafficking and arseholes make money from them. by jasonpswan89 (Thu 29th Dec 2022 12:11pm)
  • Did you read what I said? Specifically the ones who are dropped off in big cars by gangsters, the ones we all know aren't getting the money for themselves. by jasonpswan89 (Thu 29th Dec 2022 12:41pm)
  • Dennistoun is grand. Personally I'd avoid Haghill as some claim that to be Dennistoun on rental sites etc. Rent you are probably looking at 700-800 for a 2 bedroom these days from what I know of people looking. Less if you just want to rent a room from someone obviously. Not sure about for a 1 bed tbh. by jasonpswan89 (Fri 30th Dec 2022 3:53pm)

  • Delmonicas is the most popular. Bouncer appears a little later so you might get in before that solo otherwise sometimes they may not let you in alone. Polo (nightclub) is notorious for not letting people in solo, but you could go to Riding Room beforehand and enter polo through there. There is also Bonjour, Katie's Bar, and others too. They tend to be around the same general so you could try a couple if the first one doesn't let you in. In general it tends to be groups and pairs in places like these and they tend to stick together, not in a bad way. Finding someone on a dating app and going with them could be an option as way to experience them if you don't wanna go alone the first time. by jasonpswan89 (Fri 13th Jan 2023 4:03pm)

  • You say it only matters to a small group but within most people's circles they have friends and/or family who are part of the LGBTQ+ community. Never mind the countless people who seek to support these groups regardless of their own sexuality or gender on the principle that standing up for others is a decent thing to do. I'd suggest that makes it matter to a great many more people than you suspect. Doesn't make you racist, at best small minded and at worst possibly homo-/transphobic. by jasonpswan89 (Sat 21st Jan 2023 11:06am)

  • Tips are entirely discretionary. I worked in hospitality for years so I always tip for food, and tip on my tab when drinking my local. If you don't wanna do that for whatever reason that's entirely your choice, no-one is gonna force you to tip and the staff likely won't even remember you the next time you go in. The exception would be if you go somewhere regularly and know the staff then I'd always advise tipping as it usually guarantees better and (often) priority service. by jasonpswan89 (Wed 25th Jan 2023 12:30pm)
  • The local pubs. I can go there on my own with a book, sit at the bar and chat to the other regulars, or take friends there. It works in every scenario and is a reason I love living where I do in Glasgow. by jasonpswan89 (Thu 26th Jan 2023 12:00pm)
  • Palais Bar is my usual haunt in Dennistoun. That's the one that I was specifically referring to Max's Bar when in town, I go there with friends, with dates, and even with my Mum. The vibe is cool and fun whenever you go and whoever you are with. by jasonpswan89 (Thu 26th Jan 2023 1:43pm)

  • Nope, the people you support were quoting from the book. That does nothing to make the point about people who support trans people being nazis, if you believe that then there is no hope for you. You are being whipped up to hate people instead of supporting one another. by jasonpswan89 (Sun 5th Feb 2023 12:10pm)
  • Are you fucking mental? I get that some people hate trans people but you are literally spreading hate and lies about them. You should be ashamed and disgusted with yourself honestly. Trans people are part of the lgbtq+ community and I have never experience homophobia from them, but have from anti trans people. Sterilising children? Seriously? What the fuck is wrong with you that you believe that. I sincerely hope you have been sterilised as I pity any child who is forced to deal with you and the vile things you are seeking to spread to fuel hatred. by jasonpswan89 (Sun 5th Feb 2023 12:16pm)
  • You are transphobic you, you literally posted conspiracy theories that make spurious and harmful claims about trans people. Nor wanting to shag them doesn't make you transphobic, being a cunt and posting shit like that does. Well it is conversion therapy, trying to convince something they are something they aren't is fucking sick. How can you be gay and defend things which were used against our community for generations and are still being used today in Christian crusades against us?! by jasonpswan89 (Sun 5th Feb 2023 12:29pm)
  • It makes it easier to get a certificate. Trans people have the right to use single sex spaces under the equality act, which the grr doesn't affect. by jasonpswan89 (Sun 5th Feb 2023 12:26pm)
  • Aye you referring to trans people are men in wigs? The certificate is literally to allow people to be married and buried as their chosen gender. Do you hate these people so much that you'd deny them a right which is afforded to the rest of us? If so, why? by jasonpswan89 (Sun 5th Feb 2023 12:33pm)
  • Asking a question is different to the shit that's being used by people on your side to 'convince' people they aren't trans. Identifying as the opposite gender and being attracted to the same gender are in no way similar so please provide some empirical studies showing that those who are gender dysphoric grow up to be gay. by jasonpswan89 (Sun 5th Feb 2023 12:37pm)
  • They were quoting from Mein Kampf, calling a cunt a cunt when they behave like a cunt is to be expected. by jasonpswan89 (Sun 5th Feb 2023 2:58pm)
  • If people espouse Nazi rhetoric then they should rightfully we called a Nazi. These people are behaving like Nazis, demonising a minority, and literally quoting Hitler. Hence they are literally nazi cunts and should thus be called that. by jasonpswan89 (Sun 5th Feb 2023 3:25pm)
  • Why do you have an issue with calling a Nazi a Nazi? I'm not cheapening the insult or demeaning what people suffered at the hands of them, I'm highlighting that these people are literally using their rhetoric, their books, and their methods to suppress a minority in order to make themselves feel better. by jasonpswan89 (Sun 5th Feb 2023 3:30pm)
  • And they decided who were lesser than them based on things that couldn't be controlled, sounds a lot like these TERF cunts. Quoting Nazi hate speech and ideology is nothing short of disgusting, why are you defending this? I'm calling this woman a nazi cos she is behaving like one, she is a horrible human being and she is striking fear into people, trans people are scared now as a result of these people and the msm encouraging hatred and vitriol towards a minority. by jasonpswan89 (Sun 5th Feb 2023 4:12pm)

  • It's a pub known for attracting bigots. It's a pub that insists upon covering the streets with Union Flags at any opportunity and harassing those who complain about it. And any pub that obsessed with being subservient to a family of Germans has no place in modern Glasgow, probably why their patrons are often found to be complaining about how Dennistojn is being gentrified. I for one prefer a pub that is gentrified that one that people are terrified to cross the threshold of. by jasonpswan89 (Tue 7th Feb 2023 4:07pm)

  • Arden and Carnwadric are two different places, as is Kennishead which is also missing. Evidence being, I grew up in Arden lol. I'd consider thornliebank as Glasgow, certainly was always considered as such when i was younger, more so than Jenny Lind anyway. by jasonpswan89 (Wed 1st Mar 2023 8:08pm)

  • Has to be at yer granny's by jasonpswan89 (Fri 10th Mar 2023 11:46pm)
  • Honestly the sooner protests outside of any health facility are banned the better. People have different beliefs, I get that, but intimidating people who are seeking help is disgusting. Q: Why can't they protest at somewhere like Grorhe Squate if they care about changing people's minds? A: Because they don't, they want to intimidate people who are gender, who are LGBTQ+, or who dare to have an abortion. These people really need to chill the fuck out, have a drink, and get their hole. by jasonpswan89 (Sat 11th Mar 2023 9:02am)
  • I'm just saying to ban it in certain places to protect people. At this point, it's just intimidation disguised as protesting anyway. by jasonpswan89 (Sat 11th Mar 2023 9:18am)
  • But this isn't protesting. This is intimidation disguised as protesting. This is people who openly hate trans people and are anti abortion screaming at people as they enter a facility designed to offer advice & support. by jasonpswan89 (Sat 11th Mar 2023 9:21am)
  • How do we do that? These people don't respond to common sense. They rely on intimidating people to prevent them from accessing services. They have their own beliefs, that's cool, but forcing people to conform to their small minded nonsensical pish is disgusting. by jasonpswan89 (Sat 11th Mar 2023 9:52am)
  • Then how you do propose to resolve the issue of scumbags using fear and intimidation to prevent people from accessing services? by jasonpswan89 (Sat 11th Mar 2023 9:51am)
  • We normally rely on people not being cunts. With the hate filled people it seems they don't behave as people expect. by jasonpswan89 (Sat 11th Mar 2023 9:56am)
  • Dude what is your problem here? I believe we should ban people protesting outside of areas which offer medical assistance. If you don't agree with them then you can suggest an alternative and we can discuss it. I reckon most people would agree that my suggestion is valid and out to be considered, hence why Holyrood is seeking to bring in buffer zones to prevent these lunatics from harassing normal people who are seeking help. by jasonpswan89 (Sat 11th Mar 2023 10:04am)
  • So you think being allowed to protest outside of these places should be permissible? Why not protest at George Square, at Holyrood, at Bute House? Somewhere that more people will see them. Somewhere that doesn't seek to simply intimidate people going to these places for a multitude of reasons. by jasonpswan89 (Sat 11th Mar 2023 10:13am)
  • Never, unless a right wing party wins in Scotland. Banning protests that intimidate people is different than banning protests you don't like. Extrapolating like that doesn't do anyone any good by jasonpswan89 (Sat 11th Mar 2023 10:36am)
  • I want to ban them from "protesting" in a specific space where they aren't seeking to inspire change but to inspire fear. No issue if they want to protest at somewhere like George Square where more people would see them and hear their message. by jasonpswan89 (Sat 11th Mar 2023 12:13pm)
  • They use protesting as an excuse to intimidate and inspire fear, weird take that anyone thinks that's appropriate. by jasonpswan89 (Sat 11th Mar 2023 12:10pm)
  • No, I want to ban protests in certain places where people seek to intimidate people. These people state categorically they wish to intimidate people, objecting to that is something I am proud of. The family party seek to inspire hatred and vilify minorities with no care of the services somewhere like the Sandyford provides. by jasonpswan89 (Sat 11th Mar 2023 12:19pm)
  • These people literally want to kill people who have abortions, or are trans etc. I cannot wait for the buffer zones to come in so people like you realise the importance of having safe spaces to access sexual health services by jasonpswan89 (Sat 11th Mar 2023 12:24pm)
  • They can say what they want. But why do it there unless it is to inspire fear by jasonpswan89 (Sat 11th Mar 2023 12:23pm)
  • I'm not scared but other people will be. And this isn't the pensioners with their "vigils". This is fundamental lunatics who have stated they are willing to use violence to stop people accessing these services. by jasonpswan89 (Sat 11th Mar 2023 12:29pm)
  • I said they seek to intimidate, you are misrepresenting what I have said. You are also ignoring the stated aims to the Family Party who are protesting today. Why do you approve of people aiming to intimidate people seeking help with their sexual health, people seeking advice on abortions, people seeking counselling following rape or sexual assault? by jasonpswan89 (Sat 11th Mar 2023 12:32pm)
  • This isn't about the so called Christians. This is the family party, a right wing mob who have stated they will use violence against trans people (as an example of their rhetoric). by jasonpswan89 (Sat 11th Mar 2023 12:30pm)
  • It's not old women though. There are young men who attend these protests who have stated they will attack and assault these groups. by jasonpswan89 (Sat 11th Mar 2023 12:38pm)
  • They don't intimidate me, but I know trans people and people who have sought abortions who have had abuse hurled at them, which left them shaken by groups protesting outside these spaces. They pose a risk to vulnerable people. Moving them to a space where they can not vilify people for seeking help in no way interferes with their right to protest, it just suggests they do so in a more appropriate place. by jasonpswan89 (Sat 11th Mar 2023 12:38pm)
  • They are protesting against trans people nothing, nothing to do with abortions. You are defending a group you know nothing about. by jasonpswan89 (Sat 11th Mar 2023 12:35pm)
  • I just want them to not do it outside of certain places where vulnerable people are seeking help. by jasonpswan89 (Sat 11th Mar 2023 12:43pm)
  • Because intimidating people shouldn't be tolerated. Forcing your beliefs on others shouldn't be tolerated. Like I said, buffer zones cannot come in soon enough and then we won't need to have a discussion again where defending peoples right to access health and counselling services somehow makes me a narcissist. by jasonpswan89 (Sat 11th Mar 2023 12:48pm)
  • So if people don't want to be intimidated and harassed and have their picture put up online where they can be identified and hassled they should just not access these services? You can't be fucking serious here mate surely. by jasonpswan89 (Sat 11th Mar 2023 12:46pm)
  • It's not just trans people who are being victimised, it's cis women and men. Forcing my belief by defending a group of people who are marginalised by right wing media in the same manner as gay men were for decades? Well fuck me sideways, I must be a bad person for insisting we treat a marginalised group better by not seeking to villifying them. by jasonpswan89 (Sat 11th Mar 2023 12:53pm)
  • Honestly mate you keep spouting the same shite. These people are not pensioners. They are young men harassing vulnerable people. I am not going down to fight them, I'm stating that they should go stand somewhere where more people can hear their message if they want to share that and stop harassing people who are already marginalised. by jasonpswan89 (Sat 11th Mar 2023 12:51pm)
  • Cringed at myself arguing with someone who agrees with intimidating people outside a health care provider honestly mate. by jasonpswan89 (Sat 11th Mar 2023 1:44pm)
  • I wasn't trying to be an activist. I was explaining to someone why I feel that protesting outside somewhere that vulnerable people are attending is a dick move. I don't understand why you are trying to start an argument with me here mate? by jasonpswan89 (Sat 11th Mar 2023 1:53pm)
  • In what manner am I still going? I responded to your comment, I didn't seek to argue? I could have indeed, sadly I'm incapacitated at the moment and wouldn't have been able to join in the counter protest. by jasonpswan89 (Sat 11th Mar 2023 1:50pm)
  • If yer hot you'll know it, same if yer a munter. Honestly it varies by person, I might find you to be beautiful and someone else might not. Beauty is subjective. In general there are people who are way better looking than average, then most people are fine, then you'll see the odd person who is way below average. Pretty much the same as every other city. We're much less hot than the Spanish, French etc, but probably better looking than the average American . by jasonpswan89 (Sun 12th Mar 2023 6:51pm)

And I believe the girls from RPDR are doing a tour soon and will be in Glasgow, usually at the likes of the o2 as far as I know. by jasonpswan89 (Fri 17th Mar 2023 9:22am)

  • Why won't people chatting in class think of the refugees?! Wind yer neck in, tell yer son to grow a set of walls and stop running to mummy. If he's got a problem with people chatting then tell him to ask them to stfu. by jasonpswan89 (Sat 18th Mar 2023 10:17am)

  • This has been ongoing for years. Its been widely known that assets would have to sold to pay for a mistake made by a former Labour led Council. The fact that people are considering voting for the cunts who literally underpaid women for decades and destroyed this city blows my mind. by jasonpswan89 (Fri 31st Mar 2023 11:46am)
  • Anywhere you fancy I'd suggest calling first. Can't think of any pubs that can accommodate a walk in 16 by jasonpswan89 (Sat 1st Apr 2023 6:51pm)
  • Most of Glasgow will be like that mate, especially in town bro. You might be able to walk into somewhere in small groups but a table for 16 ain't likely mate by jasonpswan89 (Sat 1st Apr 2023 6:58pm)
  • Unless you support a specific team, then try to find a neutral pub, especially if you plan to cheer when either team score. More or less every pub will show it anyway. by jasonpswan89 (Tue 4th Apr 2023 8:46am)

Technically only those working (and not on full time education) are responsible for paying this, albeit they may expect you to contribute a portion, worth checking with them. If > 1 person there is working (and not studying) then there will be no discount for the flat. by jasonpswan89 (Thu 27th Apr 2023 11:40am)

  • Scotland is anti monarchy in a manner much greater than our southern neighbours, you'll struggle to find support for any kind of pro monarchy boot licking in Glasgow. If you wish to celebrate it then the Bristol Bar on Duke Street had something after QE2 died, you may find they do something for Saysage Fingers but I don't think there will be a street party. by jasonpswan89 (Mon 1st May 2023 8:07am)
  • Surely most cities have inauthentic Vietnamese restaurants these days in a similar vein to the Hsnoi Bike Shop? by jasonpswan89 (Fri 5th May 2023 7:25am)
  • Quality has declined massively, and wasn't ever great compared to other similar places in my opinion, and there are better options in Glasgow such as Non Viet & the smaller ones, all of which actually have staff//owners who are Vietnamese. by jasonpswan89 (Fri 5th May 2023 7:33am)
  • I'm sure you do, my hope is to help people find somewhere better as no doubt people will take the comments here as recommendations for places to go. I'd hate yo see someone make the mistake of going to an inauthentic Vietnamese which is owned by a pub chain rather than somewhere which offers food which actually bears any resemblance to what you might find in Vietnam. by jasonpswan89 (Fri 5th May 2023 7:37am)
  • And you come across as some bitter cunt who got butthurt that someone had the audacity to call out a restaurant they like as bring inauthentic and run by a chain. by jasonpswan89 (Fri 5th May 2023 7:46am)
  • We really need council operated buses. If Edinburgh can do it then so can we. £5 for a 2 journey ticket is mental! by jasonpswan89 (Fri 5th May 2023 9:53am)
  • Pretty sure this is correct. Once you graduate (or finish studying for the year), you can claim benefits but until then you are considered a student. Maybe speak to the uni about some kind of support fund and see if they have any grants before you finish studying. by jasonpswan89 (Fri 5th May 2023 12:14pm)
  • That's of assumptions you've made there. by jasonpswan89 (Fri 5th May 2023 12:15pm)
  • Aye if Glasgow had ever actually extended the subway then people would likely use that, but compared that to Edinburgh's trams which will soon cover all the way down to Leith, it's just mental. by jasonpswan89 (Fri 5th May 2023 12:20pm)
  • Pretty sure you can't do this in a flat these days btw, AFAIK there is rules against them when there is a shared entryway. Not sure if that applies but something to consider if this applies and turns out to be the case. by jasonpswan89 (Fri 5th May 2023 6:46pm)

  • You pay more for a good coffee, something I'll gladly do. You pay more for brands like Nero, Starbucks, Costa etc. by jasonpswan89 (Fri 12th May 2023 10:33am)
  • Depends on what coffee I'm getting, but I wouldn't even bat an eyelid paying £4 for a decent, well-made coffee from an independent coffee shop. Expensive would be if it suddenly hits £5. by jasonpswan89 (Fri 12th May 2023 10:59am)
  • Aye Suddenly, as in, if I went somewhere new that opened and it was a fiver for a coffee I'd probably raise am eyebrow by jasonpswan89 (Fri 12th May 2023 11:03am)
  • I mean if it's a banging flat white, they pay their staff a decent wage etc, then £4 wouldn't be a kick in the balls in my book. by jasonpswan89 (Fri 12th May 2023 11:02am)
  • That's probably because people go out for one coffee, and for multiple pints. Would explain the disparity in it? Plus the price of a coffee often dictates how good it is. The price of a pint varies wildly based on location, pub vibe etc. So you could pay £6 for a pint in one pub then £4 for the exact same pint in another eh. by jasonpswan89 (Fri 12th May 2023 12:30pm)
  • I actually missed that part, cos I'm a bellend who only reads half a post apparently by jasonpswan89 (Fri 12th May 2023 1:19pm)
  • Moat people will go out and have 1 coffee, it's much less common for people to sit and drink multiple coffees than multiple beers. I ran coffee shops for years and unless someone was there doing some work the majority of customers had one only. by jasonpswan89 (Fri 12th May 2023 2:49pm)
  • Data Analyst, 2 years experience, a couple of k over 40. You are underpaid to fuck my dude. by jasonpswan89 (Sun 14th May 2023 1:15am)
  • I got a graduate role. I do have a relevant degree and masters though so I probably had an easier time than most. If you already work somewhere that has roles like this then the best bet would be to transition into it as opposed to applying externally, industry experience counts for a lot in these roles, especially if you will be working directly with the stakeholders who need questions answered from the data. by jasonpswan89 (Sun 14th May 2023 11:06am)
  • The masters will get you interviews no doubt, you may have to start at a junior level and work your way up though. Banking and the Big 4 are good places to look into for D&A roles, they tend to be the ones who use it most. Good luck with the masters! by jasonpswan89 (Sun 14th May 2023 11:15am)

  • Non Viet is a better option for Vietnamese in terms of authenticity, especially for Pho. I'd suggest pho bo tai (rare beef). by jasonpswan89 (Wed 17th May 2023 11:04pm)
  • I am not but I have tried both, and I know for a fact that a lot more Vietnamese customers dine at NV. Their pho broth takes over 24 hours to cook too. And given that Hanoi Bike Shop has recently been taken over by a pub chain I can only imagine it'll only get less authentic and more generic and it already was. Hanoi Bike Shop is about as authentically Vietnamese as a deep fried Mars bar. by jasonpswan89 (Wed 17th May 2023 11:43pm)
  • Because they use a broth that takes over 24 hours to make, they have a Vietnames owner, a number of Vietnamese staff, and they have a huge volume of Vietnanese customers who frequent the restaurant. AFAIK, Hanoi Bike Shop has none of the above. by jasonpswan89 (Wed 17th May 2023 11:52pm)
  • Place has multiple owners, one of the founders is Vietnamese, he is from Hoi An. Why are you being aggressive? You recommended somewhere for a type of food, I suggested an alternative, chill the fuck out. by jasonpswan89 (Thu 18th May 2023 12:15am)

  • Honestly the market is pretty saturated, and you'll be up against people with degrees and who don't need a via sponsorship to live here. If you wish to move to the UK you'll need a company's to sponsor your visa, which usually means you'll need experience and offer something which non UK residents don't. by jasonpswan89 (Tue 23rd May 2023 8:57pm)

  • I'm not particularly a fan of either team, I just remember the behaviour of rangers fans being far worse and seeing the videos of them destroying George Square while police watched. Celtic fans left rubbish last year and little else AFAIK. by jasonpswan89 (Sat 27th May 2023 9:47pm)
  • If being a football fan means destroying the city or fighting with one another as so many fans of both teams seem to do then I definitely am not a football fan. by jasonpswan89 (Sat 27th May 2023 9:59pm)
  • As mentioned, I don't particularly care about either team, I am bitter at the behaviour of both sets of fans on a regular basis, and the destruction wrought upon the city and it's people. • It is that deep to many people. The owners choose to work it, the staff are often forced too. Part of life for minimum wage workers, doesn't mean it's something that should be encouraged or tolerated. As a society we expect places to open every day, hence why we see shops and restaurants opening on NY day now too. The way we fuck over retail & hospitality staff just blows my mind. by jasonpswan89 (Thu 22nd Jun 2023 8:04am)
  • It's a more plausible explanation than claiming a Scottish Nationalist did it. Portraying an orange man as a rat will no doubt annoy the types of people who celebrate hating catholics and defending the monarchy. by jasonpswan89 (Thu 22nd Jun 2023 10:23am)
  • It's shite, my dig was at everyone who does it. I worked it once when I was in hospitality and honestly it was the single worst Christmas I have had, I wouldn't like to ever dine out on Christmas day and force others to miss out on anything else they may have the option of doing. And my hope is that one person may re-evaluate their position and choose to not make others work so hopefully more places close and people get to spend time with their family. by jasonpswan89 (Thu 22nd Jun 2023 8:18am)

Seen an old man spit at a child for wearing a celtic top. They are only open to one group of people and openly hare against the other, who looks forward to thay kind of pish. • If they permanently changed the times that the subway operates, then this wouldn't be the case. They could employ more people and make more money at the same time. Alternatively, if they offered overtime to people and it was refused then people might not be as annoyed. Certainly a better option than only opening it from 10-6 as if the city doesn't operate outside these hours on a Sunday. by jasonpswan89 (Sat 24th Jun 2023 9:04am)
  • I've done it, if you rent a room as opposed to a flat, and don't plan on living the high life then you'll be grand. The cost of living here is increasing, especially the cost of renting, so be smart and don't overstretch yourself. Consider living somewhere a bit further out with good connections to the city if you can. by jasonpswan89 (Sat 24th Jun 2023 9:00am)
  • It's made worse by the age limit, the amount of children crawling around the streets puking every year when it's on is mental. Making it 16+ guarantees you get 14 years old chancing it. Should be 18+ to at least slightly assuage this issue. by jasonpswan89 (Sat 24th Jun 2023 12:09pm)

  • Looks like a legit article to me. Nothing suggesting it isn't from that picture. And I would assume if it's been printed then it's true as papers are very risk averse with stuff like that. by jasonpswan89 (Mon 3rd Jul 2023 3:56pm)
  • I mean I'd just Google the guy's name you've blocked out. Is there not multiple articles referencing him being a nonce? You wanting to advise him of libel or kick his cunt in if he lives nearby then? by jasonpswan89 (Mon 3rd Jul 2023 4:20pm)
  • Don't let it taint your life man, your opinion of him may be soured. No-one knows what people are really like, what they do behind closed doors. • There's mini golf which is always good for a laugh. Bar wise, Howlin Wolf, Variety Bar, and a few more from Charing Cross down towards the centre via Bath Street // Sauchiehall are good. Max's if on Queen Street. For clubs I'd suggest Berkley Suite, La Cheetah, or Sub Club. Those are always good for a night, check what's on and see which one you fancy. by jasonpswan89 (Wed 5th Jul 2023 9:31pm)
  • Some of the worst service I've ever had though. And the manager is the rudest little man too. by jasonpswan89 (Sat 8th Jul 2023 4:50pm)
  • The attitude from the staff was horrendous. We booked to go, weren't told the buffet closed upon booking or arrival, then after we asked why no-one told us this the staff accused us of lieing and the manager literally started shouting at us. by jasonpswan89 (Sat 8th Jul 2023 6:29pm)

If you work for a small business, you'll likely get the Glasgow Fayre. No-one gets St Andrew's Day really. And if you work in retail/hospitality then you likely won't get any. by jasonpswan89 (Tue 11th Jul 2023 3:19pm)

  • They defo aren't as prevalent. Post Covid, it's become non-existent. With a lot of clubs opening until 4am now there may well be less demand. And even if anyone did know. They certainly wouldn't be telling others online about it. The former way you got invited was someone who knew someone who knew what was going on invited you on the night, can't see that part of the movement changing. by jasonpswan89 (Sun 16th Jul 2023 9:13am)
  • This has been asked a few times. The consensus seems to be that you may need to wait a wee while, but you'll have no issue in getting a ticket. by jasonpswan89 (Sun 16th Jul 2023 9:10am)
  • Solo males are very unlikely to be allowed into a club, just incase yer a creep. Solo people in general are unlikely to be allowed into a club, on the off chance you end up smashed or getting smashed- you don't have anyone to help you up the road or look after you. You may have more chances at Bars- Howlin Wolf, Slouch, and a couple of others on Bath Street could be a good shout. On Sauchiehall, there is Sleazys and Box, albeit both double as club(esque) so may refuse entry. by jasonpswan89 (Sun 16th Jul 2023 9:24am)

  • I find it tends to be of benefit to large groups, my work hires out an office space in Glasgow every few weeks for those living here or on the west coast to meet up. I used to run coffee shops a few years ago and those tended to be places where solo people would go to work, I would assume that is still the case. by jasonpswan89 (Mon 24th Jul 2023 6:39pm)
  • Katie's tends to be more lesbians than gay guys, just incase OP is M. Not hugely relevant but Delmonicas is much busier with men from my experience, tends to have a better vibe due to being busier too. by jasonpswan89 (Tue 25th Jul 2023 1:45pm)
  • You'll be grand then! Katie's is full of lesbians. Dels is a good vibe, especially at Dragaoke. Check out Riding Room, next door to Dels and Polo. People will warn about the Polo Bouncers but I've always found them fine. If you are worried go in via Riding Room. by jasonpswan89 (Tue 25th Jul 2023 2:45pm)

  • Nor I, but this time I felt we had no choice. We had booked for my sisters birthday, no mention that they close the buffet between lunch & dinner. We arrived, no mention of this. It wasn't until we had all came back with our first plate that they told us that they were closing the buffet in 5 minutes, assuming so they could charge us. by jasonpswan89 (Wed 26th Jul 2023 5:42pm)
  • I don't honestly remember what time as it was a while ago. Not long before they closed everything for lunch. As noted, my issue was the lack of communication about it as we would have went elsewhere if they were clear upon booking or arrival. by jasonpswan89 (Wed 26th Jul 2023 6:00pm)
  • Second this. I took my mum there and James did a fantastic job! by jasonpswan89 (Wed 26th Jul 2023 7:04pm)
  • CityLink 900 is £10 for a day return. There are options for multi journey tickets too. Not sure if there is a monthly pass or that I'm afraid. The journey can take a while, especially compared to the Express train, and depending where you get the bus from you may not be guaranteed a seat, but it's much more cost effective than other options. by jasonpswan89 (Fri 28th Jul 2023 12:44pm)

  • I was meaning that families are more likely to attend the local ones now, where wee fannies are more likely to be. I know plenty of families who used to go to the park next to the GHA event, I also remember wee fannies near there running about and throwing fireworks at passer bys. by jasonpswan89 (Fri 28th Jul 2023 3:17pm)

  • Solid rock mate, near Central and should fulfil your needs. As for food, there's a few places near there but I like Max's- they have a pop up kitchen by McFly's just now, it's some banging chicken. by jasonpswan89 (Tue 8th Aug 2023 1:17pm)

  • Calling a spade a spade doesn't presume the moral high ground. Not all rangers fans are huns, but those who march and parade through the streets with their hate group are scum and will be called such. by jasonpswan89 (Sat 12th Aug 2023 10:32am)
  • Hate speech my arse, it's a term used to refer to the sectarian cunts within the Rangers support, the ones who hate catholics and commonly sing of being up to their knees in fenian blood. More offended by a word than by the intimidation and harassment dolled out by these people on a continuous basis where they disrupt the city and the lives of it's people. by jasonpswan89 (Sat 12th Aug 2023 10:38am)
  • If you were parading around the office singing yer anti Catholic songs and harassing people in the street as these people do you would be out on yer arse before I even had the chance to call you a name. I've been harassed and screamed at by these people more than once, I'll call them whatever I want. They are a stain on our city and our society. by jasonpswan89 (Sat 12th Aug 2023 10:44am)
  • Calling a cunt a cunt is required sometimes. The problem is the volume of these marches that are permitted. Herd them all into bellahouston Park and let them share their hatred amongst themselves and not inflict it upon the rest of us. by jasonpswan89 (Sat 12th Aug 2023 10:58am)
  • My point was that they do it, not that you would, sorry if that wasn't clear, didn't mean to infer you were part of the problem specifically. Rising above it is difficult when I've been harassed entering and leaving my home by these people, screamed at in the street for daring to hold hands with my partner. Fair enough, responding to hate with hate isn't ideal but honestly until this hateful organisation are banned I can't see myself viewing them with anything but vitriol. by jasonpswan89 (Sat 12th Aug 2023 10:56am)
  • Honestly they don't do a thing, the sheer volume of these permitted by the council is disgraceful. The council should allow them to have one a year if they must, that puts them similar to other marches and events. by jasonpswan89 (Sat 12th Aug 2023 11:07am)
  • Aye I'd be equally in support of banning both. Hibernian walks seem a lot less frequent than orange walks from what I can tell, and a lot more prone to counter protests too oddly. by jasonpswan89 (Sat 12th Aug 2023 11:10am)
  • C'mon to fuck mate, you must know a guy that's a better solution to posting to Reddit on a Sunday morning. by jasonpswan89 (Sun 13th Aug 2023 9:04am)
  • After youtube & udemy, you'll need a degree, as opposed to being self taught, especially with CodeClan going bust. The odds of getting a role without a degree are miniscule as you'll be competing against people with them. by jasonpswan89 (Mon 14th Aug 2023 8:04am)
  • I would assume that's because you have experience now? As the number of people studying relevant degrees increases, entry level jobs will go to them over someone who self taught for a few months, that's my experience anyway. My employer hired a few CodeClan people for entry level but never someone self taught. by jasonpswan89 (Mon 14th Aug 2023 8:10am)
  • Sorry, yeah just seen that. Even for D&A roles it's difficult to get in without experience now unless an internal shift and even then I suppose it would be a lot of work to get to the level of actual D&A where you need to be proficient at the tools you mentioned. by jasonpswan89 (Mon 14th Aug 2023 8:18am)

  • That's a good thing, air quality is improving in London and most Londoners support it's expansion. I'd hope most Glaswegians would too, especially given that it never seems to impact as many people as some idiots claim. by jasonpswan89 (Tue 15th Aug 2023 8:52pm)
  • That's the plan, money raised through fines will go to measures to improve air quality. Encouraging walking and cycling would do that. I'd like to see some of it used to improve public transport, ideally something to rival FirstBus, cut those bastards profits so they fuck off, and we can have public transport that actually serves the public. by jasonpswan89 (Tue 15th Aug 2023 8:50pm)
  • So they penalise everyone equally, isn't that equality? Everyone I know in London supports it, and that's half my social circle and a majority of my colleagues given I'm up and down for work. I don't read the BBC, shower of cunts the lot of them. I look at opinion polls from multiple sources, most of which say that a plurality support expansion. by jasonpswan89 (Tue 15th Aug 2023 9:31pm)
  • Yeah I mentioned in another comment that I'd really like to see some of the money raised from fines used to improve public transport, ideally to oust First for good so we have a transit system that is fit fir purpose. Not saying it's a perfect model as is, but I hope the money is used effectively to improve the city & we see the improvements we need by jasonpswan89 (Wed 16th Aug 2023 8:00am)
  • I've never known a gay to be offended at someone calling a cigarette a fag, half my lgbtq+ friends call them fags as opposed to cigarettes. Could be because of the different association, when people call the Chinese a "Chinky" for example there is the linked connotation as the shop has people of that ethnicity, there is no link between being a gay and a cigarette. by jasonpswan89 (Wed 16th Aug 2023 8:10am)
  • AFAIK, it's enforceable, they can take a portion of your deposit to pay to hire a cleaning company, or a window cleaner. I know people who've had money taken from their deposit for this, it's about proving it wasn't clear enough (or at least as clean as when you moved in) and not just subject to normal wear and tear. by jasonpswan89 (Wed 16th Aug 2023 11:05am)
  • The next train is often a 30 minute wait, don't be so facetious, there are many reasons you can't buy a ticket at a station whether it's queues, ticket machines not working, or however many other reasons. by jasonpswan89 (Wed 16th Aug 2023 5:42pm)
  • The Stand & the Glee Club for sure. Ticketed events possibly, Google will tell you more about who's on where etc. by jasonpswan89 (Wed 16th Aug 2023 7:23pm)
  • People have stuff happen, life happens. Sometimes you run home cos you forgot something and just make the train, sometimes you are getting the train at 5:52am, sometimes you arrive and there's a massive queue of people. Suggesting anyone without a ticket wait another 30 minutes is moronic when we have people on trains selling tickets and when we have people at stations selling tickets upon arrival. by jasonpswan89 (Wed 16th Aug 2023 7:22pm)
  • Is it as prohibitly expensive for membership as I'm assuming? by jasonpswan89 (Wed 16th Aug 2023 7:35pm)
  • It is if you are going somewhere, like an appointment, a dinner reservation, work..... Acting like anyone who doesn't want to wait 30 minutes due to not managing to get a ticket at the station is moronic. Never mind the sheer volume of times that the ticket machine doesn't work at stations, people wanting to board there just shouldn't get a train at all eh. by jasonpswan89 (Wed 16th Aug 2023 7:49pm)
  • My bad, maybe not actually. Honestly jump a bus/train to Edinburgh, there will be hundreds of shows there to choose from. by jasonpswan89 (Wed 16th Aug 2023 7:45pm)
  • That's fucking mental, can't see anyone but posh twats forking that out to join a club which keeps the riff raff out. by jasonpswan89 (Wed 16th Aug 2023 8:04pm)
  • That isn't always possible, some people work till certain times them have to run out for a doctors appointment, if they get the train there should they miss that by 30 minutes because they couldn't but a ticket beforehand? Even if it's heading out, suggesting someone spend 30 minutes waiting instead of just getting on and buying a ticket on the train is horrendous. How about if I am taking my nephew to town, I can't buy a £1 child accompanying adult ticket for him at a machine, should we therefore not take advantage of the offer because we don't live near a staffed station? by jasonpswan89 (Wed 16th Aug 2023 8:02pm)

  • In what fucking world is a holiday the same as being in a building surrounded by only the richest twats and bigflgest arse kissers? The exclusivity of it is what sets it apart, whether the price, or the interviews they'll be conducting. Comparing that to football where people can go for a game or a season is not the same and you know it. by jasonpswan89 (Thu 17th Aug 2023 4:07pm)
  • It's nowhere near the same money, it's literally over double it. It's £133 just for their cities without houses membership, suggesting that membership of the location will be more. It also has interviews to join, further elevating it to exclusivity and restricted to people who know people etc. by jasonpswan89 (Thu 17th Aug 2023 5:07pm)
  • The less than a grand a year may well be for under 27s as I believe there is a discount for them. Holidays, cars, etc. are different to membership of a club, at least in my opinion. • With the likes of Barclays opening that huge campus here, anything finance or data related is popular. Couple this with the rise of remote jobs and being able to work for companies in Edinburgh or London with only having to attend the office once a week, once a month, etc. it's a good option. Some people will think your a cunt for working in this sector (you might well be) but the pay rises pretty quickly and is well above average. by jasonpswan89 (Mon 28th Aug 2023 3:12pm)
  • Maybe go down the data/business route then, it has the potential to be used to help a lot of people, depending on who you work for. Strathclyde has a fantastic business school, and their science faculty is also pretty good too. by jasonpswan89 (Mon 28th Aug 2023 3:31pm)

Albeit things might have changed as the last coffee shop I ran was Beanscene and that was a fair few years ago haha. by jasonpswan89 (Mon 28th Aug 2023 9:43pm)
  • Honestly you'll learn more on the job, I used to run coffee shops and I hired based on the person. I could teach anyone to make coffee, can't teach people to not be a cunt though. • Used to run coffee shops, that would make no difference. A piece of paper saying they did some training at some point? Honestly it's better training just letting someone blast through a few pints of milk. In my experience it mostly depends on the person, I can teach anyone to make coffee, but I can't teach someone to not be a cunt. Finding someone you like was always how moat managers I know hired staff. by jasonpswan89 (Wed 6th Sep 2023 6:07am)
  • Those things never seem to work. I avoid the bus like the plague when I'm obliged to use them, I reckon the tap off thing has worked less than a quarter of the time. Could well be First just gives the shite buses to the 57 route though tbf. by jasonpswan89 (Fri 8th Sep 2023 12:13pm)
  • Must be me and not the shite technology used by first bus eh. The machine simply doesn't work most of the time, it's as if it's turned off, which wouldn't surprise me. by jasonpswan89 (Fri 8th Sep 2023 12:36pm)
  • I understand how these things work, or are meant to, the things are shite and broke most of the time, so no need to be condescensing, especially when multitudes of others have expressed the same as me. Getting off that bus is enough of a hassle with people barging on etc that using the tap off where the driver sits isn't always feasible if you are getting off at a busy stop. by jasonpswan89 (Fri 8th Sep 2023 12:48pm)

  • There's a few bars that stay open later, especially around Sauchiehall & Bath Street. Also a big fan of Max's for this too, they even have a club downstairs called La Cheetah. In terms of avoiding the student crowd, there are certain clubs which attract students more and I don't believe they'd fit what you are looking for anyway, try Berkley Suite as that tends to skew a little older than most other clubs around that way. And even if clubs attract students, it doesn't stop them being decent clubs- the shite music they play does that. by jasonpswan89 (Mon 11th Sep 2023 2:04pm)
  • Aye Berkeley and La Cheetah should fit the bill then. Most places shut at 12am, but aye bars on Sauchiehall tend to be around 3am like most clubs. The odd club night is on till 4am but again normally 3 for that too. by jasonpswan89 (Mon 11th Sep 2023 2:14pm)
  • Far too many companies like this in Glasgow. Sacking people during probation and failing to pay them holiday pay, has been going on since the days when I worked in hospitality and for years prior to. Places that do this should be named and shamed, boycott the shiteholes. by jasonpswan89 (Mon 11th Sep 2023 3:46pm)
  • Not knowing how to enforce laws does not make them exempt. A lot of these small businesses play dumb and purposefully flout these laws in the hope that people will ignore it. There are also gaps between semesters, these should bd noted. You can also go during dissertation time, you get a few months & a lot of people spend some of it travelling. • Honestly is this meant to be a joke? If not then people like you are the reason the media find it so easy to attack those seeking climate actions, you take shit to the nth degree and lose all semblance of support. People have many reasons for multiple cars, and we don't have the right to deny them this. Speaking as someone who doesn't drive, I wish they would improve public transport no end, but attacking people who own cars isn't the solution. Bus lanes need to be more common, trains need to be cheaper, transport needs to be publicly owned, we need one ticket for everything. Pollution- we just introduced the LEZ, let's see how that improves air quality before we start finding new means to demonise drivers. by jasonpswan89 (Sat 23rd Sep 2023 12:42pm)

  • As someone else said just ask her where she likes. There are hundreds of pubs in town that have different vibes, different clientelle, different drinks offerings. Chinaskis was recommended, great pub for a date. There's also somewhere like Brutti Compadres, in Virginia Court. by jasonpswan89 (Tue 3rd Oct 2023 7:51am)

I don't know any city where I'd feel comfortable leaving a bike for that long, let alone Glasgow, where there is weekly posts on socials about stolen bikes etc. by jasonpswan89 (Tue 3rd Oct 2023 8:25am)
  • There's this, first result on Google, but the waiting list is mental, https://www.glasgow.gov.uk/index.aspx?articleid=26991 Pretty sure you would only get access to one within your local area too and not in an area of your choosing too btw. by jasonpswan89 (Tue 3rd Oct 2023 8:31am)
  • In what world does it have to do with class? I grew up working class, in a shite area, single parent household, problems with alcohol abound in the family, the whole fucking lot. Did I join the young team and stab some cunt because he happened to live in a different area? Did I fuck? I went to school, went to uni, and avoided hanging around people who anyone could see didn't give a fuck about what the future held for them. by jasonpswan89 (Tue 3rd Oct 2023 11:28am)

  • Dating apps or lgbtq+ venues will be your best bet, due to the current state of the UK it's becoming increasingly risky for trans people to present as trans in general every day life you'll likely find that many trans people will find themselves more comfortable in venues which are aimed towards their community. And if your looking to fetishise them then I wouldn't bother, can't see that going down well with most trans women, or other members of the community. by jasonpswan89 (Wed 4th Oct 2023 7:34am)

  • 27 fines, I'm sure anyone would support 27 fines it meant improving air quality across the city. I can't wait for it to have the benefits that London has seen, including it winding up the kind of people who read a rag like the express, aka Tory cunts. by jasonpswan89 (Wed 4th Oct 2023 2:25pm)
  • Congratulations. That'll be a wasted vote, since the Tories and their ilk are treated with contempt they deserve in Glasgow. by jasonpswan89 (Wed 4th Oct 2023 2:57pm)
  • The true poorest can't afford to run a car, they rely on public transport, something that will hopefully see improvements as a result of the money gained by taking polluting cars. Even for those who do drive, they don't tend to drive into the city centre due to the parking costs, so again, public transport. by jasonpswan89 (Wed 4th Oct 2023 3:05pm)
  • The SNP being painted as Tartan Tories hasn't worked for years, they are to the left of Labour, Tory, and SNP on both social & economic issues. Labour are closer to the Tories on most policies these days than they have been in my lifetime. And in this case, by their ilk, i was referring to right wing nutjobs a la Reform & The Family Party. by jasonpswan89 (Wed 4th Oct 2023 3:41pm)

  • Am I the policy writer for GCC? I can support a policy without understanding every nuance of how it interacts. I get some people might be fucked by the lack of transport at certain hours, but that's always been the case, and as someone who worked in hospitality for 10+ years, people always dealt with the lack of access to a car and the lack of public transport. by jasonpswan89 (Wed 4th Oct 2023 5:16pm)
  • It does work though, it'll stop people driving into the city with old polluting cars, thus improving air quality. It impacts a minority of people, and yet people are up in arms getting whipped up by idiotic pieces in the media and online. by jasonpswan89 (Wed 4th Oct 2023 6:17pm)

I tend to just do drinks on a first date as it can be a bit awkward if the date is shite and you have to sit through a meal together. • Lol, no they won't. I know many guys & girls who've tried getting into clubs solo and got a KB, and it's varied clubs too. If something happens to you in the club, the club is liable. If something happens to you on the street, it's fuck all to do with the club. by jasonpswan89 (Mon 9th Oct 2023 5:54pm)

Like genuinely, are you wanting to cancel fireworks or guy fawkes night because your neighbour might see or hear one and get a fright then realise they live in a country which is safe for them? Or is it you just wanting people to be on your side so you make out that anyone who isn't must hate these poor people? by jasonpswan89 (Fri 27th Oct 2023 8:54pm)

Should we ban everything which may be triggering to certain groups of people? No, so stop trying to defend the blatant use of that as a justification because you don't like fireworks. by jasonpswan89 (Fri 27th Oct 2023 9:04pm)

I called a Tory a heartless cunt on Twitter for their supporting the wankers who harass people outside abortion clinics and had people emailing my work's HR department, so it defo happens that people get doxxed. by jasonpswan89 (Tue 7th Nov 2023 12:31pm)
  • Keep an eye out for Vintage Kilo Sales, they usually have a decent range of sizes and you can often find decent quality shirts etc (Raph Lauren, Tommy Hillfiger etc.) by jasonpswan89 (Tue 7th Nov 2023 12:43pm)
  • Well I don't think calling a cunt a cunt is a good enough reason for someone to be emailing my employer, and I'm sure the people choosing to wear masks have a similar wariness about this and other possible retribution for their position, especially given the way that people seem to conflate anti zionism with anti semitism. by jasonpswan89 (Tue 7th Nov 2023 12:45pm)
  • Naa they are a company that tour the UK selling vintage for £20 a kilo, pretty good quality & prices. Usually you see them pop up on Facebook events by jasonpswan89 (Tue 7th Nov 2023 1:41pm)
  • Does this appeal to anyone but a foot fetishist? Can't think of any reason why anyone would want to swap sweaty worn shoes for someone else's sweaty worn shoes..... by jasonpswan89 (Tue 7th Nov 2023 2:27pm)

  • It's been becoming more and more common since covid as a lot of people stopped carrying change. I'm fine if it's obvious and/or pointed out, plus if the service is shite I'll just ask to have it removed. by jasonpswan89 (Sat 25th Nov 2023 11:47am)
  • Celentanos, next to the Necropolis, and it's definitely one of the best in the city. by jasonpswan89 (Sat 25th Nov 2023 1:18pm)

  • Only free tickets on this sub. Try Glasgow marketplace for selling. by jasonpswan89 (Sat 25th Nov 2023 8:46pm)
  • Most people just tell them no and get on with their day, it's the belligerent cunts that start following up, effectively harassing people in the street, that have got people's backs. It's a job that needs a thick skin, they ought to be clearer about that so people without one just go work in hospitality fir that extra cash. by jasonpswan89 (Sun 26th Nov 2023 7:48am)
  • Free only mate, but glasgow marketplace is where people are normally pointed. by jasonpswan89 (Sun 26th Nov 2023 5:21pm)

  • There's a company called Multiverse that do Tech based apprenticeships, could be a shout if you fancy something not traditionally assumed to be an apprenticeship. by jasonpswan89 (Mon 27th Nov 2023 9:27am)
  • Amazing to see this getting a positive response here after the Edi mods removed it (twice)! by jasonpswan89 (Mon 27th Nov 2023 4:05pm)
  • No idea, they have one at the GWR branch so can't have been a safety thing, possibly a demand thing- maybe it was ordered a lot more at the other one and less so at SS so when it broke they chose not to replace it- creating similar but different menus at each branch is a good way to increase demand. by jasonpswan89 (Mon 27th Nov 2023 4:04pm)
  • 50 to 48 to ban a flag that's a symbol of slavery & white supremacy, love to know the reasoning behind the 48, "Tradition" & "Heritage" being the most likely answers. Honestly though, how the fuck did they get away with it for this long by jasonpswan89 (Tue 28th Nov 2023 9:56am)
  • Racists and bigots. by jasonpswan89 (Tue 28th Nov 2023 11:03am)
  • Naa it's pretty simple mate, the flag is the flag of slavery. A flag which hasn't been used in over a century other than by white supremacists. Americans are embarrassed by it, and anyone who supports it needs their head examined. by jasonpswan89 (Tue 28th Nov 2023 12:48pm)
  • I hear they do special pink cigars by jasonpswan89 (Tue 28th Nov 2023 1:37pm)
  • Proud of where your from? Is there anyone alive who remembers the time when the South was separate? People fly it because they wanna be cunts, a la flying a swastika. America should have went the German route and outright banned it. by jasonpswan89 (Tue 28th Nov 2023 2:09pm)
  • Calling someone woke while blaming immigrants for problems? Check and check. Small minded racist, off you fuck. by jasonpswan89 (Tue 28th Nov 2023 2:14pm)
  • It really is that simple though. Fuck all to do with up votes, everything to do with calling out symbols of racism & bigotry. by jasonpswan89 (Tue 28th Nov 2023 5:49pm)
  • I get not everyone likes the US flag but that's not the point here, the point is the confederate flag represents a country which barely existed and is now used by racist bigoted misogynistic twats, but go off on defending them mate. by jasonpswan89 (Tue 28th Nov 2023 6:39pm)
  • Away ye go ya dirty bastard by jasonpswan89 (Tue 28th Nov 2023 9:25pm)
  • The owner is iCafe is a homophobic, misogynistic piece of shit who withheld wages and holiday pay from staff. by jasonpswan89 (Wed 29th Nov 2023 1:49pm)
  • I assume the downvotes are to discourage people from going, as opposed to being for you, if that makes sense. by jasonpswan89 (Wed 29th Nov 2023 3:29pm)
  • Naa no worries at all man. Seems to be a known issue as everytime the place is mentioned people downvote it to fuck ha, could be every time I see it I go off tbh by jasonpswan89 (Wed 29th Nov 2023 3:38pm)
  • I don't have links for this. I worked there. The owner put homophobic staff on shifts with LGBTQ+ members and wouldn't hear complaints about it. He claimed that Muslim staff not being comfortable working with LGBTQ+ staff was ok due to their religion. I witnessed the owner speak down to the women staff on multiple occasions, one of the many reasons why I left. I was told by multiple staff that he refused to pay them outstanding holiday pay. I was personally not paid on time on multiple occasions by the owner. TLDR- the owners a cunt, my evidence is anecdotal. by jasonpswan89 (Wed 29th Nov 2023 3:34pm)

  • Also you say article, it's a blog post, not an article. And a poorly written blog post at that. by jasonpswan89 (Wed 29th Nov 2023 6:52pm)
  • I said British, they are British nationals. by jasonpswan89 (Wed 29th Nov 2023 6:51pm)
  • Aye cos I can't be working class because I ask you how you intend to remove British nationals and point the difference between a published article and a blog post? by jasonpswan89 (Wed 29th Nov 2023 6:58pm)
  • Naaa but being born in a shitehole and raised by a single mother household, while in a family where no-one before myself had went beyond secondary education decidedly makes me working class. As if being a racist piece of shit wasn't bad enough, now you try to claim the moral high ground. Off you fuck. by jasonpswan89 (Wed 29th Nov 2023 7:26pm)
  • It's not immigrants though, it's British nationals. Therefore it is fucking racist because its categorically wrong and you are assuming because they aren't white that they aren't British. by jasonpswan89 (Wed 29th Nov 2023 7:55pm)
  • Sorry for what's happened but claiming the left is pushing a woke agenda is buying into the shite peddled by the Tories and their mouthpieces. Wanting people to be treated fairly regardless of sexuality, gender, race, etc. isn't being woke, it's being decent!! by jasonpswan89 (Thu 30th Nov 2023 9:07am)
  • I don't consider myself woke. I just see it as being decent and wanting everyone to be treated fairly regardless of any characteristics. Unless they are Tories, cos those people are willing using racism & transphobia to distract us while they fill their pockets. by jasonpswan89 (Thu 30th Nov 2023 9:57am)

  • Go to uni and get a degree. There's far too many people with no degree and no knowledge thinking a certificate will get them a role. That won't even get you through the door in all honesty. by jasonpswan89 (Wed 6th Dec 2023 11:06pm)

  • Town will be dead during the day. The pubs that tend to open tend to be more local(ish) ones in my experience. Clubs do tend to open at night though. For dinner, you have left it very late to book somewhere, you might have to call around a few places to have any hope of dining out. by jasonpswan89 (Fri 8th Dec 2023 8:43am)
