  • Driving in Glasgow is a nightmare. Pedestrians around the uni campus are fucking ridiculous. Fully grown adults not even looking before they walk out onto the road. by inside_your_face (Tue 12th Mar 2019 5:20pm)
  • Who should I contact about trying to get the canal path cleaned up? So much broken glass from Anniesland to Clydebank. Got a flat last night while cycling back from Dumbarton and had to walk the last two miles. Absolute fucker. by inside_your_face (Wed 10th Apr 2019 11:06am)
  • Didn't know about this app. Cheers by inside_your_face (Wed 10th Apr 2019 12:08pm)
  • Did you enjoy it? I thought it was pretty lackluster tbh. Just stood there with his hand in his pocket, didn't really seem engaged. by inside_your_face (Fri 12th Apr 2019 10:45am)
  • I'd recommend the 78 for a nice varied menu, mono and flying duck are good for burgers and pizza etc, ushas have a large vegan menu if you want Indian but if you're looking for east Asian then you can't go wrong with the hug and pint, it's brilliant! by inside_your_face (Thu 23rd May 2019 6:27pm)
  • I think they're pointing out the hypocrisy that bus companies will happily rely on subsidies yet continue to cut unprofitable services despite them being necessary for the people who use them. Rather than operating wholly under a free market. They're having their cake and eating it too. Also they're complaints about the bike companies are expanded upon on another part of their site. The bike issue is that there are competing companies so the services aren't integrated i.e. you cannot drop off a bike from company A at a company B's bike station thingy. by inside_your_face (Mon 3rd Jun 2019 5:03pm)
  • Like [this? ](https://scottishmsa.org.uk/) Yeah you're right, people are really going mental. by inside_your_face (Mon 3rd Jun 2019 5:11pm)
  • It's a government funded organisation so they're legally obliged. There are plenty male only sports teams etc though. by inside_your_face (Mon 3rd Jun 2019 11:20pm)
  • Unironically calling someone a communist for wanting to use a park. Who let the Americans in. by inside_your_face (Tue 4th Jun 2019 2:19pm)
  • I hate this attitude. 1% of people are shit so the rest should suffer for it. Just monitor the place and charge folk for littering. Its a tiny space it'd hardly be difficult. by inside_your_face (Tue 4th Jun 2019 2:29pm)
  • Treat it like any other park in Glasgow. As someone else said, they'd either make plenty from litter fines or people wouldn't litter and the labour required to clean it would be tiny. by inside_your_face (Tue 4th Jun 2019 3:02pm)
  • I wasn't saying you were actually American. It was a jibe at how reactionary, nonsensical criticisms are reminiscent of American political discourse. by inside_your_face (Tue 4th Jun 2019 3:06pm)
  • Who's saying seizing? Let them keep it as long as the public can use it. Communists want the abolition of private property. That isn't what we're talking about at all. Stop being so dramatic, it's unhelpful when trying to have a normal discussion. by inside_your_face (Tue 4th Jun 2019 3:12pm)
  • Letting people walk through a park is communist? How does that make sense to you if you have even a basic understanding of the term communism? by inside_your_face (Tue 4th Jun 2019 3:18pm)
  • The council obviously. How was that difficult to understand? Their motivation, improving the lives of the people who live in this city, that's kind of the whole point of the institution. by inside_your_face (Tue 4th Jun 2019 3:16pm)
  • So what are people supposed to do? Live in misery with no public spaces because there are always going to be shits who litter? That's ridiculous. Measures should be put in place to deal with it. A camera at every corner of the park and a regular walk through by authorities would do wonders. This isn't kelvin Grove where you'd need 500 people to properly check the park. The space is tiny and could easily be monitored. by inside_your_face (Tue 4th Jun 2019 3:15pm)
  • I. Know. That's. The. Problem. by inside_your_face (Tue 4th Jun 2019 3:27pm)
  • You edited the comment I replied to so my answer looked like it didn't make sense. Seriously? Get a grip mate. by inside_your_face (Tue 4th Jun 2019 3:34pm)
  • The council and police like every other park in Glasgow. I'm aware it's private land but I don't think it should be. by inside_your_face (Tue 4th Jun 2019 3:33pm)
  • I'm not going to cry on behalf of a bunch of solicitors, banks and recruitment agencies if they have to give up a piece of ground they never use. by inside_your_face (Tue 4th Jun 2019 3:32pm)
  • I'm not unaware whatsoever. I'm just pointing out the distinction that letting people use this land isn't communism. You can actually. Compulsory purchase orders have been used in Glasgow by the council before. See Sighthill. by inside_your_face (Tue 4th Jun 2019 3:39pm)

  • It's brilliant, not many pubs or anything but it's quick as anything to get into town on the train/bus (the 6 that goes right down great Western Road into town and the 16 that goes to Partick are both really handy), and its really quiet, free parking everywhere, Dawsholm Park is great, cycle track goes right along the canal. by inside_your_face (Sun 4th Aug 2019 9:05am)
  • The price of public transport is insane. Look at London, £1.50 for a single bus trip, to anywhere in the city, including transfers withing an hour. Glasgow, £1.65 for a short single (literally less than half a mile), £2.40 for a regular single, not including transfers. Public transport needs to be nationalised. First, mcgills, avondale, all of these companies are pure fucking horseshit. People don't take buses because they're so expensive, then the buses are always late because there's so much traffic on the road because people drive instead of using public transport. There needs to be a culture change in relation to transport in this city and it begins with making transport affordable for all. by inside_your_face (Sun 4th Aug 2019 9:20am)
  • Second the charity shop comment. In particular the Shelter on Great Western Road is excellent. Also check out the vintage shop beside Roots and fruits. Some absolute shite but a lot of good jackets and shirts for cheap. by inside_your_face (Mon 12th Aug 2019 2:00am)
  • The 3 goes straight from Shawlands to Bath Street. £2.40 for a single, £4.60 for a day, 17£ish I think for the week. by inside_your_face (Fri 16th Aug 2019 12:12pm)
  • The fact that kg Park doesn't have toilets is mental too. Victoria Park has and its like 1/10 as populated on a nice day. by inside_your_face (Fri 16th Aug 2019 12:22pm)
  • It's extremely difficult to get in. One of my mates has been trying for 3 years and he's in the best physical shape possible. He even had laser eye surgery to meet the health criteria. I'm not trying to discourage you, just giving you an idea of what to expect. That being said my gfs dad was in the fire service for years and loved it. Seems like a great career if you can get into it. Good luck! by inside_your_face (Fri 16th Aug 2019 12:37pm)
  • Fell off my bike as an adult for the first time last night. Took half the skin off my hands and knee, dirt and gravel in all the cuts. Sprained my wrist badly, thought it was broken initially. Went to Gartnavel minor injuries and they were incredible. Seen within 1.5hrs, xrayed, tetanus shot and wrist wrapped up in ten minutes. The NHS is incredible. Bunch of legends. by inside_your_face (Thu 22nd Aug 2019 10:02am)

  • If you can scrape together £40 there are a few bikes on gumtree that would be OK for a short commute. You said it was a 3.5hr walk so that's probably less than half an hour cycling. by inside_your_face (Fri 23rd Aug 2019 10:18am)
  • Went last year and saw blade runner. It was good but take a rain jacket, not an umbrella because behind you won't be able to see. by inside_your_face (Fri 23rd Aug 2019 10:22am)
  • In my experience you need to get on stuff right away. Set up a Rightmove notification. Organise a viewing immediately and phone the estate agent as soon as you're out then viewing. Some estate agents are shitty about renting to students, Clyde won't do it at all and Fineholm will require a guarantor. Side note, try to avoid Fineholm, bunch of useless roasters. by inside_your_face (Fri 23rd Aug 2019 10:27am)
  • Does anyone know of anywhere in town that would replace the plug on my headphones? by inside_your_face (Fri 23rd Aug 2019 11:58am)

  • Can anyone recommend anywhere to get a road bike wheel trued? by inside_your_face (Thu 29th Aug 2019 2:44pm)
  • You'd get a bike on gumtree for £50. Pair that with a set of waterproofs from decathlon for £20 and you're golden. by inside_your_face (Fri 6th Sep 2019 10:23am)
  • There's a lot of research on this actually. Main findings typically are that the negative social consequences which arise are usually a result of social housing having a lack of amenities/jobs/community centres rather than the type or proximity of the homes to each other. That's why so many gangs popped up in Easterhouse and Drumchapel during the mid 20th century. Loads of young guys unable to channel their energy into careers looking for another way to express their masculinity. Let me know if you want recommendations of any literature. In the meantime here's a good [video](https://youtu.be/3f2r8cGwhsQ) on it. by inside_your_face (Fri 13th Sep 2019 1:31pm)

  • Don't know what you're seeing in relation to cyclists because I see hundreds, the uni bike racks are completely full every day and as someone else said, you can't have a cycling culture without infrastructure. Parents will be reluctant to send their kids to school on bikes without protected bike lanes. I think they would get used a lot. by inside_your_face (Mon 4th Nov 2019 9:35am)

  • I've used sk:n and they were great. 3 sessions and it was completely gone. My tattoo was black though which is apparently easier to get rid off than colour, with blue and green being the worst supposedly. Think they were about a 100 a session. That was a few years back though. by inside_your_face (Thu 7th Nov 2019 5:04pm)
  • Does anyone know what [this](https://i.imgur.com/DKh0OXq.jpg) is? Shite pic I know. Its directly across from Loop and Scoop on Great Western Road. Go past it all the time and always wonder. Its a massive room covered in paintings etc. Really ornate. Is it a hotel bar or something? Can't find anything online. Looks a bit fancy to just be some lads living room or whatever. by inside_your_face (Thu 7th Nov 2019 5:01pm)

  • I think Govan is a good place to buy. A lot of people will tell you its a shithole but it's not that bad. Plus they're building a footbridge from Partick to Govan next year which which will be handy and probably bring the area up even more due to students renting in the area more due to easier access to the uni. by inside_your_face (Sat 11th Jan 2020 10:31am)
  • Soy, virtue signaling, "everyone you don't like is a nazi" Yeah you've basically covered all the regurgitated boomerisms. Seriously this cynicism is ridiculous. Not everyone who does something they think is right is "virtue signalling". Just because you're a walking episode of South Park and have no principles doesn't mean everyone else is the same. No one is pretending they're part of the struggle. They're showing solidarity. Citizens pressuring governments through social movements has had a tremendous effect on policy throughout history and if you think it hasn't you're in absolute denial. by inside_your_face (Tue 14th Jan 2020 10:47am)
  • Mate you're calling others triggered and offended but you've written more than anyone else in this thread and you're now literally going through people post history because you're so upset about someone disagreeing with you. You need to relax. by inside_your_face (Tue 14th Jan 2020 2:08pm)

  • Won't be long imo. Ireland have closed everything. I got a message from uni (UoG) this morning which said they're cancelling all trips and preparing to organise home exams etc so I reckon they'll close soon too. by inside_your_face (Thu 12th Mar 2020 12:26pm)
  • What are they supposed to do? They can't test everyone, the results can take more than a day. Even checking temperatures, they'd need a ridiculous amount of staff considering how many people come through a major airport. Even if they could test everyone, what are they going to do if you're positive, send you home, where you were going originally. Don't they still have those little questionnaire things they hand out on the flight? If I recall correctly I've had to do those every time I've had a long haul flight. by inside_your_face (Sun 15th Mar 2020 3:56pm)
  • Right so if your temperature is high they keep you where for a day until the test is compete? And if you're positive after that day they send you home if you're a national, where you were going anyway. If you're foreign you're getting on another flight in close proximity to a bunch of other people to then get processed through another airport. The best thing they can do is get people processed through the airport and quickly and efficiently as possible. by inside_your_face (Sun 15th Mar 2020 4:21pm)
  • What do you want the gov to do? Send troops out with ak47s to kick the fuck out of any old folk they see cutting about? Old people don't listen to any advice, it's typical. My parents are fucking ridiculous for this. by inside_your_face (Mon 16th Mar 2020 8:43am)

  • https://www.businessinsider.com/coronavirus-taiwan-case-study-rapid-response-containment-2020-3?r=US&IR=T "Taiwan's health infrastructure, including big-data analysis, is partially the result of the 2003 SARS outbreak, which killed 73 people and stunted its economy. After the 2003 epidemic, Taiwan put temperature monitors in airports to screen travelers for fever, a symptom of COVID-19. The government had learned its lesson." So they had existing infrastructure for this eventuality. Hardly comparable. by inside_your_face (Mon 16th Mar 2020 10:12am)

You can check some YouTube videos if you're unsure of how to check your oil. If it's low type your reg into Halfords site and it'll tell you which kind to buy. You'll get it at most supermarkets. • I think there are a lot of misconceptions regarding Scotland and particularly Glasgow not being racist. I have to admit that as a student it feels like that but I also work part time in a typical working class environment with mostly middle aged guys and I've seen a heard a lot of racism from them. I actually ended up writing an essay on attitudes towards minorities in Scotland and my research showed that attitudes here aren't much better than England and its basically just an assumption that Scotland is more tolerant. by inside_your_face (Tue 9th Jun 2020 7:23am)

So if you forget to get some veg so have to walk round the entire shop, squeeze past the queue and the tills (there's about a 1m gap) then round the entire shop again. • He's ignoring the projections and focusing on current figures. The current death rates are going to rise with the rising virus rates themselves, rates which are now higher than ever before. Also focusing solely on deaths as if death is the only bad thing that can happen to people. What about two weeks of isolation, what about the long term effects of the virus which as of yet as still unknown? He's cherry picking to support his argument when in reality the situation is far more complex than he's making it out to be. by inside_your_face (Sat 26th Sep 2020 9:19am)
  • You've gone from saying you don't know what is so wrong to admitting his argument is bad pretty quickly. He's either wrong or intentionally misrepresenting the situation. I don't care how desparate he is, everyone is suffering right now. Why should we make concessions for bars when it'll likely lead to a higher number of deaths? Which other businesses get to do what they want exactly? Or is this round 2 of 'wrong or intentional misrepresentation'? by inside_your_face (Sat 26th Sep 2020 10:07am)
  • Getting hung up on the statistics? Aka the facts. He can be as emotional as he likes, he's still wrong and he's misleading easy led people. I understand the economical argument, but don't you see how it would be much worse for these businesses if cases keeps dramatically rising, deaths alongside with them and force us into another full lockdown? I feel like people aren't grasping the gravity of this situation. This could last years, and the more we tiptoe around measures which will actually improve the situation, the longer it'll last. You're comparing education to pubs? Which one of these are actually necessary? I agree with you that the flouting of social distancing and unnecessary office commuting is an issue which needs to be dealt with but this is a separate issue, and you're wrong about pubs following the rules and being the safest place to be. Have you forgotten what happened in Aberdeen already? Home delivery services have shifted to contact less delivery, which makes them genuinely safe. As for your 'average sole trader' argument, I can't really speak to that as you've created the scenario in your head. by inside_your_face (Sat 26th Sep 2020 10:37am)

  • So in your opinion the pandemic ended in June? The same month the lockdown restriction were eased, yet lockdown didn't work? Funny that. I'd be interested to see these "peer reviewed papers" as the evidence available indicates that cases fell as lockdown was enacted: https://www.bbc.com/news/amp/health-54064347 Your point about mortality rates regarding flu is ridiculous. You're basically saying that its OK that people died of covid because they should have died of flu? Isn't it good that flu mortality is falling. Why write off those gains as an exchange for the high morality of covid this year. Were these people destined to die? No. Young people do not exist in a vacuum. Yes they're less effected, but the more prevelant the virus is in society, the more likely it is that vulnerable people will be exposed to it. Because of this, large areas in Scotland are still able to have business operating and people retaining some kind of normality, which is not the case in England. I don't know how this can be seen as being as bad as England. • Second this. Fineholm are so shit it's almost impressive. It's like they've dragged some randoms in off the street in the morning to work for the day. I had to get a cosigner because I'm a student, fair enough, my dad got in touch and submitted all the documents they asked for. Even phoned to confirm. Then a week later, when he was on holiday, they emailed and said he hadn't send through one document they needed. I replied with their original list which didn't include the document, also they didn't tell my dad when he phoned. He had to get his neighbour to use a spare key and send a copy down. So that finally got sorted. Then a few months later I got home and found a letter on my counter top in my kitchen saying they'd visited to check my property. Absolutely no notice. Doubled checked my emails, nothing. Emailed them and asked what the scope was as this is illegal, they were just like oh yeah we emailed you. I asked them to forward the email they'd sent me... Radio silence. Absolute bunch of useless pricks. Avoid at all costs. by inside_your_face (Thu 15th Apr 2021 1:39pm)

When looking for a rental you should check the water pressure, look in the backs of cupboards, round the windows, and on the bathroom roof for damp. Make sure the extractor fan in the bathroom works. If it's a tenement with single glazing bare in mind it'll have high energy costs in winter. • I cycle a lot in Glasgow. My advice, get a waterproof jacket, waterproof shoes, front and rear mudguards. Get really powerful lights, I'd recommend cygolite. Ride defensively, i.e. don't squeeze yourself in 6 inches from the pavement. Idiots will try to pass you in your lane and almost kill you every day I guarantee it. Cycle about two feet from the pavement so cars actually have to make a conscious choice to pull out and pass you. Tbh this is rarely an issue as if you're on a fast road where cars are passing there are usually multiple lanes like GWR but if you're somewhere built up like Finnieston you're rarely going to be overtaken as you'll be going the same speed or faster. by inside_your_face (Fri 29th Oct 2021 11:43am)

  • It was sustainable when the world had a population of 100,000. 7+ billion, not so much. by inside_your_face (Sat 6th Nov 2021 10:49am)
  • I'm not convinced by this. Integrating multiple operators sounds comparable to a London/Edinburgh based model in theory but in practice each operator still wants the highest amount of fares out of a passenger. If a day ticket costs £4.70 on a first bus and similar on a Mcgills bus. Neither operator is going to allow day travel on their service for essentially half that if both services are integrated into one day ticket. Now I know that's not what they're suggesting here but no one is going to pay £8+ for a city day ticket. The answer is absolution of deregulated bus services. Transport for London buses work so well because they're all run under the same service. You pay £1.50 for a single and it's valid for two hours so you can get on any other bus without paying more. Then the same on your way home. £3 for a day ticket essentially. Edinburgh is run on a similar system and their buses are far far superior to ours. by inside_your_face (Sat 6th Nov 2021 10:47am)
  • >I don't imagine many people regularly pay for day tickets with two different Glasgow bus operators Yeah that's was my point. Integration of multiple operators rather than using one is spreading the cost of a ticket across multiple companies and reducing the capital each company is receiving. It makes more sense for these companies to merge. Comparing like for like a single in glagsow is £2.50 while a single in Edinburgh is £1.70. I get your point about population density but therein lies the problem. The economics of running these services under a free market system mean that services which are essential yet less profitable are not a priority. If we had integrated, cheap, reliable services these routes would actually be serviceable under private operation. It's a catch 22 and private companies will never take the financial hit of reducing their costs to entice people back. Ultimately we spend so much subsidising concessionary travel that the excess moeny we'd spend nationalising these services would soften the offset the costs significantly. by inside_your_face (Sat 6th Nov 2021 11:32am)

  • We need a system that isn't built on the idea of perpetual economic growth. Market competition dictates that actors will attempt to reduce their costs to increase their returns. This includes exportation of labour to third world countries, using cheaper and more environmentally destructive raw materials and more energy intensive processes. We have so much potential to development responsible processes but markets do not respond to the most environmentally friendly options, they respond to the most profitable. It's more profitable to sell a car to every commuter than to run a reliable bus service for example. The incentive for private capital to become environmentally friendly and risk jeopardising their profits is simply not there. Actor A will not change because actor B won't either, and therefore A will be priced out by B's lower overheads and subsequent lower consumer pricing. by inside_your_face (Tue 9th Nov 2021 10:09pm)
  • >capitalism has raised many many more people out of poverty than it has put into it How do you justify this claim? Capitalism is the reason colonisation, slavery and imperialism happened. Capitalism is the reason the EU imposes agricultural tariffs on African produce, reducing their ability to emancipate themselves from poverty so as to retain market shares for EU produce. Which country has pulled more people out of poverty than any other in the 21st century? China. Which country pulled more people out of poverty than any other in the 20th century? The Soviet Union. Proponents of capitalism love to say it's not perfect but it's the best we have. How would we even know that? We've never tried anything else? After centuries of capitalism we still have rampant poverty and inequality despite having the resources to deal with these problems multiple times over. Isn't the fact that capitalism requires such stringent regulation testament to the fact that it is not a viable system for the advancement of humankind? by inside_your_face (Wed 10th Nov 2021 12:11pm)
  • But how do you attribute these improvements to capitalism? Take Scotland for instance, is education and healthcare provided on a free market basis? No. Let's take housing as an example. Scotland has in recent years lowered its poverty level dramatically. It has done this through utilising social housing. https://www.scottishconstructionnow.com/article/social-housing-investment-reduces-poverty-improves-health-and-drives-economic-growth The UK in general has suffered massively through the expansion of private rentals. It exacerbates poverty and instability. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC7001905/ This is just one example of how poverty has decreased in capitalist countries but not as a result of capitalism. You need to learn to think critically about positive relationships in data, that is, just because it happened in a capitalist country, doesn't mean it happened because of capitalism. by inside_your_face (Wed 10th Nov 2021 12:40pm)
  • So your justification for capitalism is that we derive taxes from it to fund the services that capitalism is incapable of providing in the first place? And this is supposed to be a positive element of capitalism? Are you serious? Do you think labour driven value springs out of thin air? Workers produce value through labour, and the surplus value is absorbed by capital owners. Would labour cease to exist without free market economics? No. The current model requires the taxation of markets to fund services because we live in a capitalist country. You need to actually think critically about this. The resources necessary for public services to function pail in comparison to the labour value taken by private capital owners. Public services are crumbling despite private capital owners being wealthier than ever before. We have the potential to utilise to many resources, yet private capital dictates that we can't. You talk about innovation and the supply chain being facilitated by capitalism but again, this is just not true. The industrial revolution was not driven by private capital. The state constructed the rail lines, the state built the canals and the infrastructure to facilitate markets. You should do some research before making your arguments because, and I'm sorry if this is insulting but, you clearly don't know what you're talking about. by inside_your_face (Wed 10th Nov 2021 1:00pm)

  • I didn't say there was none before that, you're putting words in my mouth, but capitalism was the impetus for modern colonisation, I don't know how you could try and deny this. >The indescribable suffering of the people of Russia in the 20th century being reduced to "people being pulled out of poverty". Famines, genocides and wars happened for centuries under Tsarism, yet conveniently these don't seem to count. After the revolution poverty fell dramatically, literacy rose, homeless fell, the standard of living skyrocketed until the fall of the Soviet Union. These are all indisputable empirical facts, regardless of how upset they make you. Did I say China "sat around a table and decided that we'd 'implement' an economic system"? No, you're putting words in my mouth because you're unable to deal with the actual points I'm making. I'm not saying China is a communist country, there are no communist countries. China however, have not almost solely relied upon free markets to provide for their impoverished populations as many other states have. They have taken advantage of the liberal international order and utilised markets to develop. Yet they do not rely upon markets exclusively. Look at the development of their high speed rail over the past few decades, the most expansive and advanced network on the planet built in an extremely short period of time, due to state-led development. Markets are extremely slow at responding to demand in infrastructure and so state-led projects can provide so much more efficiently. You're saying I'm lying but everything I've said is an indisputable fact. You are the one who is being dishonest. Something doesn't cease to be true because you don't like it. • I disagree about testing. The big advantage to cycling is that it's so cheap and convenient. We already have a problem trying to get people to cycle in this city. Further roadblocks would absolutely kill any progress. What we need is better cycling infrastructure, cyclists need safe, segregated cycle lanes. This would remove most of the opportunities for collisions with cars in the first instance. by inside_your_face (Thu 11th Nov 2021 10:07am)

  • [I wonder if something like this could work in Glasgow.](https://www.theguardian.com/artanddesign/architecture-design-blog/2014/jan/02/norman-foster-skycycle-elevated-bike-routes-london) We have an extremely comprehensive rail network and the routes are obviously very direct which lends itself nicely to cycle paths. Would allow for complete segregation from roads and avoidance of traffic light holdups for cyclists. Obviously a very expensive project but given space constraints on many existing roads and reluctance to give up space currently taken up by cars this seems like a good alternative. Thoughts? by inside_your_face (Tue 16th Nov 2021 8:39am)
  • Good points, I guess I'm just extremely cynical about new cycle lanes actually being built properly. I mean look at the one on university avenue. They built that in the past few years and it's just a bit of paint on one side of the road. There isn't even a lane on the other side. The road is definitely wide enough to have a separated lane on each side. by inside_your_face (Tue 16th Nov 2021 9:10am)
  • Have you downloaded the app? You just need to enter your CHI number into it. It should be on your vaccine letter or any other NHS documents you have recieved. by inside_your_face (Tue 16th Nov 2021 9:16am)
  • Yeah I've been keeping a close eye on those, I've answered all the questionnaire things the council has put out. The Sauchiehall street one is better but it's pavement height with no physical barriers so people just end up walking all over it. by inside_your_face (Tue 16th Nov 2021 9:24am)
  • Yeah I think cycle lanes need to be sunk into the pavement so psychologically people view them as little roads and stay on the pavements. The Byres road plans look good (if the cycle lanes are incorporated) , it's such a mess right now considering its the busiest Street in the west end. >Don't read the comments Words to live by! by inside_your_face (Tue 16th Nov 2021 9:36am)

  • While that would be an improvement on the existing system, electric buses are actually really inefficient. A trolley bus network would be good though. As for Edinburgh, it was a shambles to start with but as it says in the article they're being used a lot and they've become profitable even sooner than expected. I think future development could learn from the mistakes of the first project. by inside_your_face (Wed 15th Dec 2021 12:04pm)
  • The construction of the batteries is extremely resource intensive, and they degrade with age. Also logistically in colder temperatures and hilly areas the batteries drain quicker. • People really misunderstand what the simd does. When people say "good area", what they usually mean is safe area. Take the city centre for instance. Basically all light blue, but it's also the area where you're most likely to find drunk people, heavy drug use etc. Then take an area like Anniesland. Big orange square because of the high rise, but it's a very quiet and safe area. I'm not saying the simd isn't useful but a lot of folk seem to think blue = good which isn't the case. by inside_your_face (Fri 28th Jan 2022 9:55am)

  • I bike a lot and I often use the road instead of the bike lane as the bike lane is often completely fucked. Take Clarence drive for instance. The bike lane is absolutely full of mud all the time. There are big ramps going over the bus stop which will wreck road bike wheels. Drivers always pull into them when coming out at junctions. Most bike lane are good but some are more dangerous than using the road itself. by inside_your_face (Wed 13th Jul 2022 1:59pm)
  • I agree. I think this would curb some excessive drinking to be honest. If folk were allowed to continue sitting outside on warm nights they'd probably drink at a slower pace than if they all piled into a club when the beer gardens closed. Obviously the noise concern is an issue but on weekends they should extend it to 12, I think that's a reasonable compromise. by inside_your_face (Wed 20th Jul 2022 10:14am)
