  • Look up your local councillor, I've emailed them about the state of the grey bins. Apparently the food waste bins aren't getting picked up until further notice. Our grey bins are packed to the rim. If you have other issues try emailing them. by Optimal_End_9733 (Tue 19th Jan 2021 9:02pm)

  • I had the same issue, Google it. That's what I did and my councillor is listed under a totally different area. Councilor was listed on. Local community site I found via Google. by Optimal_End_9733 (Sun 24th Jan 2021 9:09am)
  • It's not just the person in charge. It's the general lazy attitude and complacency you get with any organisation who isn't financially motivated and has a monopoly on a resource ie our tax money /council tax by Optimal_End_9733 (Sun 24th Jan 2021 9:12am)
  • That would annoy innocents, it would need to be infront of gcc building by Optimal_End_9733 (Sun 24th Jan 2021 9:10am)
  • Grey bins are no longer to be used. I complained to my councillor saying how are the neighbours supposed to know this? No comms. From gcc site : The food waste collection service for flats and tenements remains suspended in the South and North East of the city for the time being and residents there should continue to use their general waste bin for food waste. Further details can be found via the following link: https://www.glasgow.gov.uk/article/16560/Food-Waste-Recycling by Optimal_End_9733 (Sun 24th Jan 2021 9:15am)
  • I took off the plastic pvc off when one came loose. To my surprise I could actually fit my hand in the gap. I could see outside light through a gap. Cowboy job, it's common tbh. If your confident take off the pvc and check if it's been filled in and air tight. by Optimal_End_9733 (Sun 24th Jan 2021 9:51am)
  • The quietest times were the 10am classes. Muay thai and bjj during weekdays. Muay thai used to have 10 or 8 people training at the time I used to go. Sparring even less muay thai class even less at 10 or 11am I have forgotten the time. Evening classes and weekend is busy. Wrestling on weekend was the only quiet class on Saturday. This was back in 2018. I for one can't wait to go back. Easiest way to burn calories, and the most fun. It's a friendly atmosphere compared to other gyms (in my opinion), but will still push you to do your best. by Optimal_End_9733 (Sat 30th Jan 2021 8:13pm)

  • Apparently bulk uplifts are no longer. You have to phone it in. And no longer place the items on the road but in the backyard. I kid you not the website starts of with "We are pleased to advise that from 10 December we will operate a by-request-only service for bulk uplifts from residents in flats and main door properties." Pleased... Yeah... That's one word to use.... by Optimal_End_9733 (Sun 31st Jan 2021 10:19pm)
  • Get a top floor flat as long as there are factors and the roof is "decent" having neighbours above is a nightmare if they are noisy. Advantage of top floor is you can insulate all the notice from your floor. If you have neighbours above you need to sound insulate top and bottom... Not good. You can lift the floor boards up and install insulation. It can be expensive. Look it up on YouTube. But would help. The floors are literally like drums, there is thin drywall for the ceiling then loose wood floor boards. Sound travels via air and vibration. Imagine a drum, it's loud when hit. But if you fill it up it won't resonate and make a noise. by Optimal_End_9733 (Tue 2nd Feb 2021 9:24am)
  • Sorry dude, all I can say is that people get awkward when confronted so what she said doesn't make sense but it maybe cos she's nervous. She may or may not have it. If the courier can't sort it, you could try calling 101 and report it as theft once you have exhausted other options via the courier. by Optimal_End_9733 (Wed 3rd Feb 2021 10:13am)
  • Hi guys, I think a lot depends on the landlord. I am with countrywide and the bottle neck has always been the landlord. My landlord had been decent so far so I have just had the boiler fixed (I did have to persistently complain mind you) Be persistent and polite, and march with your feet if your not getting what you should I guess. by Optimal_End_9733 (Sat 6th Feb 2021 9:17am)
  • OK folks got an update on the blue bins. Just heard the bin men outside taking blue bins and noticed they passed my flats and didn't get the blue bins. Caught up to them and asked why, they said the back door was locked. And that they can't knock on doors asking neighbours to unlock anymore due to covid 🤔... What a load of garbage I thought (sorry I couldn't resist). Blue bins are collected every 16 days and should have been updated on the calendar online but haven't yet (should have been updated by 1st Feb) https://www.glasgow.gov.uk/forms/refuseandrecyclingcalendar/PrintCalendar.aspx?UPRN=906700273677 by Optimal_End_9733 (Sat 6th Feb 2021 10:01am)
  • I chased a bin man as he skipped our close, and his excuse was that the flat's back door was locked. And that they can't knock on neighbours door because of... Yup.... Covid. Since when can doors not be knocked due to covid? We will just let garbage and rats prevail instead. by Optimal_End_9733 (Wed 10th Feb 2021 10:24pm)
  • It is a baffling dilemma how other countries have a different culture/efficient council regarding litter. I do belief Alot of it is the culture of the people. British people do seem to have a sense of privilege. Why work when I can get paid for doing nothing with benefits? I remember on tv a guy complaining he had to work on a train to keep his benefits. He was huffing and puffing away complaining. I was with a non British resident and they said there would have been a long line of applicants from her country to do that job, yet he's complaining. by Optimal_End_9733 (Wed 10th Feb 2021 10:28pm)

  • I wish sound proofing was mandatory in the uk. Its crazy it isn't. I saw this youtube video and it looked decent, check it out below . If your decent at diy why not give it a go. It's not too difficult, unless you have laminate. If you are top floor you only need to insulate the bottom. But you have someone above you it's gonna be double the work. Underfloor is easier, but insulating ceiling is hard work. https://youtu.be/HpEJQ9XOJGA by Optimal_End_9733 (Fri 12th Mar 2021 5:37pm)
  • Bear in mind in the video he has particle/chip board. Not planks of wood like many flats which have air gaps by Optimal_End_9733 (Fri 12th Mar 2021 11:09pm)
  • Can you shed some details into what these maybe? Just curious. What I have seen in all the flats is planks of wood for the flooring loosely laid across the ground. Air gaps and noise vibration bad for sound travelling through the material and airborne. An 8 inch or so air gap then the neighbours ceiling below. None of the above is sound insulation. This is across Glasgow. Only buildings which are the exception are the tall high rise buildings, I believe they are constructed from concrete. They are good at sound insulation. by Optimal_End_9733 (Fri 12th Mar 2021 11:05pm)

  • I do agree for a stranger walking on the streets it's safer in the west/uk etc Largely because of strong policing and laws. But the same countries with a breakdown in society or lack of funding will see protection for any vulnerable group slip. There was a spike in sexual abuse and rape during hurricane katrina in US. Other countries have been dealing with foreign intervention and wars(due to the former) and the police and legal system took a beat down. So it's no wonder our western countries are safer. Iraqi police wouldn't be responding when Western bombs are being dropped to liberate the bronze age primitives. Nor would any country. Our governments have made a lot of these country as you put it "bronze age" cultures. They weren't all like this. One thing to note is that in large cities its easier to harass someone and not face consequences than say in a small village were everyone knows everyone. There is a load of subtle abuse in the west that goes on and is never reported till later on, think Jimmy Saville/ Epstein /weinstein. by Optimal_End_9733 (Sun 14th Mar 2021 11:10am)
  • What astounds me and other guests to our country is that new houses look like they came from a movie set. There is absolutely no art or creativity at all. Older buildings seem to have more style. Maybe it's due to inflation and the rising cost of making modern buildings. But it's a shame. by Optimal_End_9733 (Sun 21st Mar 2021 6:17am)

Pro tip :they don't warn about how spicy they are so check the ingredients if chilli is the first ingredient it's gonna be hot. • I don't rate nhs physio that highly. I have been referred for back pain and neck pain. And the physio was not impressive at all. They lost my details once so the 3 or so month appointment never came. The ones that came about didn't do much. They give you a prehistoric recycled old looking sheet of paper with excercises that don't do anything. I would go private personally, it's faster and better. Hampden are good. There are quite a few good places. I found chiropractors work wonders for short term relief, and sometimes more permanent relief. The one on Cathcart Road deluca is good. I went to the docs ages ago with a sore neck, like a trapped nerve. Had it for weeks of not months. Doc gave me rheumatoid arthritis style meds. Did nothing. I kid you not, chiropractor sorted me out in about 30 seconds crack. Done pain subsided by about 90percent. The rest gradually faded over time. Other thing is stretching, if you notice one part of your body can bend or stretch more that's and imbalance. So try make the sore side balance the other side. Often the sore side will be tighter or more restrictive than the other. Hope you get better soon. by Optimal_End_9733 (Thu 15th Apr 2021 4:31am)
  • Rented for the first time in 2019 with country wide. To be honest I prefer a letting agency. They are more professional and not in my face all the time. • Thanks for the reply. We can insulate it. Standard advice is lift floor board. Install rockwool. Then thick underlay. Then laminate ontop. Also the sides of the laminate shouldn't be touching the walls or skirting but have a foam protection around it. Problem is this costs Alot of money (and effort as I will be lifting the floorboards myself) It is more for my neighbour, I did offer him if he wants to then chip in for the rock wool. Buts he's not too interested. by Optimal_End_9733 (Thu 29th Apr 2021 8:04pm)
  • Just to confirm, you put plywood over you're existing hard wood floor. So it's hardwood plank floor, plywood, underlay then laminate? If that's what you did didnt that mean your flooring went up approx 10mm or more than is needed? I would need to re trim the rooms done and level the carpeted rooms I'm guessing? Ps if you can share the installer with me please do by Optimal_End_9733 (Fri 30th Apr 2021 4:15am)

  • I feel the OPs pain. Grew up in middle class nice house with parents southside. Moved near by to a flat (ex council) looks bad but great area and good amenities and amazing school. Had one crazy neighbour ground floor some minor agro (compared to my next story!) OK so then I move to Toryglen, lovely looking place. Here temporarily. It looked nicer than my other flat, and nice working etc. I didn't realise that the nice family below me were drug dealers and had parties till 730am in the morning, and their kids woke up at 8am when parents drunk and stoned. I would start work at 7am from home... Sleep deprived. It was hell during pandemic. The floor would literally shake with kids slamming the door and jumping below me. Police helped here and there and also made an arrest etc. They left overnight in a rush. Now things are better but new tenants sometimes play loud music but it's bearable. Some things I have learnt. Council areas have more trouble than non council areas - generally speaking. They don't work so will be in the house Alot more than non council. Also they may have social or mental health issues, unsociable manners. I know it sounds harsh but I'm just saying it how it is. You will get more anti social behaviour in council areas due to depravity. Now, I'm not saying expensive places are better. For example, high end west end flats worth couple 100k would have tenants with musical instruments, or surround sound etc. Heck, in London I heard a neighbour sued another neighbour about £100k for having a noisy flat. Advice Check neighbours front doors if in flat or house. Does the area have trolleys and buckfast bottles smashed? 13 year old girls with prams? Logos gang signs inside the flat? Smell piss in the close? Yup. Not good. Knock on neighbours door. Are they pleasant? Or do they open the door in boxers covered in tattoos missing teeth and living with there gran (yes, this happened) I'll add more later if I get the chance by Optimal_End_9733 (Tue 18th May 2021 11:38am)

  • I am speaking from experience here. You can check my previous posts. Make a sound diary. It's easier to send a diary than explain it over the phone. If the neighbour doesn't know you then make an anonymous letter. If it doesn't stop contact the land lord stating you have done the above. If that doesn't work and the noise is out of hours ie 11pm onwards call the police for now. (this is the last option, try above first) If all the above don't work email your councillors. And send a diary of what's happening. It's a travesty that the sound complaint service isn't running during the pandemic when you need them the most. Any qs fire away. Glasgow City Council have a noise team but they aren't coming out when I called them over the last 18 months. Google your local noise team. Make a sound diary. It's easier to send a diary than explain it over the phone. by Optimal_End_9733 (Mon 24th May 2021 9:22am)
  • West and southside is good. I agree avoid east (although has good links to town) by Optimal_End_9733 (Tue 25th May 2021 7:09am)
  • Also get trainline and use Google maps to see train and bus routes. Depends on your monthly budget, and whether you want to flat share etc. Best option is in town you can be close to your campus and work. But maybe more expensive etc. If on a budget then: Get a list of areas that have for example 1, 2 or 3 stops etc from your university Glasgow has 2 train stations. Glasgow Central (main station) & Queen Street I prefer trains to buses but just my opinion. Once you have a list of areas then ask on reddit if the areas are any good. by Optimal_End_9733 (Tue 25th May 2021 7:08am)

Not all neighbours are the same, but I heard of Roma tenants moving in the close. And next thing there is more garbage, the front door is left open/broken to allow more people in without keys. Toilets blocking because they don't know its not for nappies etc. One person I know lost Alot of money because of these issues. Oh and the party music till 6am 7 days a week. The ear putty style ones are more comfortable but I did feel. Like I'm shoving air into my ear when I seal the top. • I had this problem. I was on 3, inside it was a weak 2mb outside it was 36mb. I trialed vodafone and it was much better around 40mb inside approx. You're issue is either your carriers cell mast position, technology they use (ie not good at penetrating buildings), or your building is thick. Get some pay as you go sim cards and test the speed. You can also get external aerial boosters but I never went down that route so can't advise on that. by Optimal_End_9733 (Sun 27th Jun 2021 10:58am)

  • Agree, I'd think it's rare here. On a side note, Middle East isn't known for gun crime. South America ie Brazil etc are the worse. Its just a negative narrative generalising the middle east. Majority of middle east is safe regarding gun crime. Any stats would be skewed due to former invaded countries like Iraq and Afghanistan which are still recovering from war. by Optimal_End_9733 (Fri 2nd Jul 2021 8:05am)
  • Yeah agreed, but tbh any warzone, ex warzone isn't going to be cushty. And a military check point pointing guns at you isn't the same as having a gun pointed at you at an atm etc. Conversely UAE and dubai are one of the safest countries in the world in regards to violent crime. The prohibition on alcohol (in parts) also makes it safer. I just want to break the stigma that the whole of middle east is a gun toting mad house. by Optimal_End_9733 (Fri 2nd Jul 2021 10:59am)

  • Try avoid council areas. Check the doors and stair Wells for signs of anti social behaviour. Floor boards are thin in Glasgow flats. Expect to hear everything from neighbours, unless it's a modern build or concrete high-rise. If possible and it's a smaller flat aim for top floor as long as roof is decent and there is a factor. • If you make sure the car has full service history (you can check online) Check it's MOT status and if it passed or failed each year. You can check for mileage discrepancies, I've caught a few out using this. Google Common faults for that model you're getting, ie any recalls bad body work etc Also, check how the car looks and feels. You can tell when a car is loved or not. If a car looks damaged and stinks the owner didn't care. Avoid cars which have been used and passed on Alot. May indicate a problem with it. When seeing the car, look for signs of a crash, panels not colour matching, damaged cables inside the engine bay. You could contact a local engineer and ask the private owner if you can test drive and take it to the mechanic. Bear in mind some cars age worse than others. Following advice if buying private: If buying private you save money. Buy from someone decent, not a "private" tradesman. But a genuine sale. For example, you go to see the new car. Let's say a mini. And the guy tells you he's had twins and had to upgrade the car, and you see a brand new SUV on his drive way. On a side not maybe mention what you want (dunno if that breaks the rules?) As for auctions, sounds great but I would avoid. You can't test or drive the car, anything can be wrong. by Optimal_End_9733 (Mon 26th Jul 2021 8:27am)
  • Hmmm yeah totally, sounds well dodgy. I went to one dealers, I won't mention names. But all the cars were trash, marks all over them, damaged interior etc. My last private buy was from a surgeon, lol. Nice guy, invited me in we chatted6for a while. Went for a drive car was 13 years old but was smooth and clean. He had receipts for everything etc. Phone private sellers, you can tell I'd the person is decent or sounds dodgy. When you get the sellers address, Google maps it. Looks dodgy, or shady then I would leave it. Take a friend if your not comfortable. Good owners will take care of their cars, regardless of the cost. So check the tyres as well. If they are all a similar brand are are all 4 tyres different. Etc. by Optimal_End_9733 (Mon 26th Jul 2021 8:33pm)
  • God's test would be more appropriate. Making fun of someone's faith is a shit move. This is true especially after a disaster like this. Hope you have a good day, and don't get God's justice that you were mocking about. by Optimal_End_9733 (Wed 28th Jul 2021 12:18pm)
  • Mocking religion I'm up for debates and challenging other's beliefs especially if it's false. Because the truth is important. I disagree with a lot of religions beliefs, I disagree with atheists. But it's important to keep it civilised, and not cause unnecessary offence. When something is wrong there is no point making ad hominem attacks,it distracts from the discussion. I'm a Muslim, and for years we have had to defend our beliefs from false distortion, whether it's lies, or verses out of historical context etc. We don't mind given a fair forum and there is no insults hurled. Since an early age from my secular education in school or my home upbringing we are taught not to offend people unnecessarily. Here is a Christian building going on fire and people are cracking jokes, at the expense of the congregations expense. If this was a synagogue I'm sure you would think twice! Fairy Tales Ps When explaining how life began even the scientist can only explain it with fairy tales. Lightning striking water and somehow creating 3 billion pair dna code! You even seen a single cell? It's complicated. Dna code has to be created, error checked stored and then replicated. No one knows the truth, but the "science" at the moment can't answer that question sufficiently. A lot of scientists believe in intelligent design. by Optimal_End_9733 (Wed 28th Jul 2021 2:49pm)

  • Keep a diary of every incident or noise made. It's easier to email it to the relevant person organisation you contact. It's better than saying. It's noisy till night time etc. If they see a log with dates the noise and the effect it had on you it's easier to complain. With kids it's difficult, you can't stop kids and it's harder to complain about the noise. Having said that it depends on the kid, the guardians and also the build of the flat. If they have laminate it makes it worse. If kid is hyper or has adhd it's worse. Guardians may not care what the kid does etc. Best bet with noisy kids is landlord or the factor. But keep a note of atleast a week. If all this doesn't work. Then I've heard some folk fight fire with fire, so they are loud, then you be loud. They these guys or the relevant dept in your local authority https://www.glasgow.gov.uk/reportasb If council don't help escalate to your local councillor, and cc the landlord/factor. That always gets there intention (worked for my friend) There needs to be an amendment to building regs. How the hell can flats be so bloody noisy. Its 100% the buildings lack of sound and acoustic insulation. With more and more powerful media equipment. More families unable to afford housing. Flats are gonna have more people in them. by Optimal_End_9733 (Thu 29th Jul 2021 8:49pm)

If I wanted to stay longer in my flat. I would get rockwool underneath, pine board and maybe mass loaded vinyl. Or skip mlv and see if I need it (I would diy it so I can add it back on later) I'd love to see a YouTuber do different solutions with a before and after each application with sound testing equipment. Working from home in shitey council flats so it was too much. So I chapped her door, after a wee discussion about noise etc she casually goes on to explain and defend her music saying,..... "I only put on the music when I hoover up" No apology, nothing, music while hoovering. That's just one issue, others worse. Solution? I moved. G42 area, no thank you. Found out later on its the worse for amplified noise. https://www.glasgowtimes.co.uk/news/18284501.glasgows-noisiest-neighbourhoods-revealed/ by Optimal_End_9733 (Fri 30th Jul 2021 6:23am)

  • Aye, if you don't get any help from the shitty council then you escalate it. We don't pay our council tax for nothing, I'm paying £168 a month for a small 3 bedroom flat. I've had to contact my local councillor for food waste not picked up, was in there for weeks, it was sorted rapid after a wee email to the councillor. I've dealt with shitty neighbours, and being sleep deprived and stressed is not a small thing. • I get what your saying, GCC do say it's unlikely they can help with "children playing, loud footsteps or where sound proofing is a factor. For these type of issues our Mediation Service can be of help" They said "unlikely" , but having a kid keeping you awake at 2.30am is not normal. If mediation and other avenues are exhausted, then I would push it via a Councillor. At Least to make them aware the situation in flats is shit and people shouldn't suffer in silence. Some suggestions When calling nhs helpline ask for the persons full name. I would ask the person taking the call on the helpline to speak to a manager or line manager etc and say you will stay on the phone until there is a resolution as the situation isn't going anywhere. Or get a reference number. I have a feeling the contact centre is very basic. Just my opinion from my experience of calling them. They provide a basic service. 2nd recommendation I would go to the centre you had the vaccine. And pester them (in a nice way) explain the situation. And that this needs to get resolved. They may have a 2nd line contact they can use. Being pleasant and showing patience will go far. Hopefully you get a better reply from someone soon. • Lived in East Side in council flat area. It was shit. Parties till 7am in the morning (neighbours not me) Flats are not sound proofed at all. Worse if your neighbour above is a titan and has laminate (prick move) Neighbour 2 down stairs(last one vanished after her bf threatened her) had loud bass playing at different time of the day. She used to have music so loud I could hear it, after challenging her she said innocently "oh I only have music oan when a hoover...." I was like ffs..... Anyway moved to South Side and the neighbours are much quieter. Not council area and its bliss. Flats are still bad for sound proofing. I'd go for a house if I could, esp if you drive. All the best. by Optimal_End_9733 (Sun 3rd Oct 2021 3:43pm)

I have no say how or what they are going to do, or if scaffolding will be used etc. They won't even know where the leak is they don't care. They will likely just replace the whole thing, make money charge us all. And no one knows what is going on. GCC "advice" : "In the meantime please try to minimise the amount of waste that you produce where ever possible, or compact it as much as you can. For example non-recyclable plastic packaging can fill large amounts of space in your bin, but can be broken up with scissors. • Air with water in it (like steam but invisible) is hitting a cold surface. Like when you take a cold bottle from a fridge into a hot humid climate. The surface gets beads of water. The windows are a good example. They are cold, and the warmer air with moisture from showering boiling water even breathing etc is hitting it and condensating. It's not a problem on a window. But on a wall with paint it can get mouldy. You need to kill the mould and you can use a water proof paint mould resistant paint. If your heating isn't on then there is a higher chance of having wet walls and windows etc. You can try opening your windows if you don't want a dehumidifier. I am trying to avoid one, because I already have so. Many electrical devices. All the best with beating it. • Boredom and feeling down can be motivators to change your situation. The fact that you are noticing this is a spark. And just like lighting a fire you may need a few sparks before it catches on fire. And pushing that analogy further, if the spark had nothing around it there will be no more fire. The spark needs to be near fuel ie wood etc. So give your self a good chance to make those sparks catch on to something. Have a good routine, save your money, be healthy. Have a good wake up sleep routine (hard to do). Be around non toxic people ie family and friends. So you will be ready for the moment something happens, and keep the fire going by being disciplined and stead fast. So many double lanes have become 1.5 lanes plus a cycle section. Am I allowed on the cycle section if there are no cycles? I don't know. But it causes a major traffic jam in Alot of the cases. Cycle lanes in Victoria Road are a disaster from a safety point of few. I have to look out for cars buses and cycles and it's quite difficult. I have seen cyclists going down the wrong way on cycling lanes! No helmets, no lights etc. And don't start me on new electric bikes, I see a bike in the distance but I don't expect it to be doing like 25mph on the cycle lane. by Optimal_End_9733 (Sun 5th Dec 2021 12:50pm)

I don't expect the police to come, but atleast take their details from me and investigate or follow it up. Ie if the passenger in my car had a video that's evidence. If it was illegal the police would charge them at their address by running a check on there reg plate, that's the issue I didn't understand . I had proof they are blocking the road. • Totally agree. To top it off the usual complaints about 5 vans and x amount of police. With all the dafties still don't listen so it's their fault there is so many polis. The vans and police numbers is to protect the police but also to protect the public. The reason its 5 or 6 cops on one person is because they are controlling the person and pinning them down. Its not easy to do if a person is resisting arrest without hurting them! Officers have long 12 hour shifts, they are not Mma fighters that have a 15 min wrestling match. Don't resist arrest then complain about all the polis and wasting tax money. Polis were definitely out of hand with not de-escalation. by Optimal_End_9733 (Sun 2nd Jan 2022 12:33pm)

  • Contact shelter Scotland as a tenant/landlord for advice. Also, if your in the Union or have home insurance you may have legal cover or at least legal advice cover. Look up the tenancy act and "under one roof", if it's a health and safety issue the council can force repairs. Also you have small claims ie simple procedure to take the factors on as well. I am new to all this but I am the same as you and tempted to get rid of the factors. Paying about £3000 a year amongst 6 flats. That's £30k every 10 years! With that much money we could fix any issues that occur. Biggest issue with self factoring is non paying flat owners. I think it's one of the biggest cons in UK that's archaic. We need to trim the fat here so that the few flats we have in Scotland don't get into a state of disrepair. Just because it doesn't directly affect them, leaving the roof for 70 years and no maintenance is daft. 70 years x £2800 (current factor fees for all 6 of us per year is £196,000 🤔 If flat owners just co-operate there is no need for factors. by Optimal_End_9733 (Sat 6th Aug 2022 6:04pm)

It's their "duty to maintain" You can search for the landlords details on a register (I don't know where I kept it), and get their details. Send letters to them recorded delivery. You can use simple procedure (Scotland) and You can threaten to put a note on their title deeds under section c. Please note I'm not a solicitor but just Check this https://underoneroof.scot/ It has template letters for owners that don't pay. I'll ask some professionals round to see what they say and give more quotes. by Optimal_End_9733 (Sat 6th Aug 2022 11:10pm)
  • Thanks for the information. I will need to push my factors to meet someone in person to show him these pictures. Anycall to the factor requires 6 weeks (30 working days) to get a response. I had a small leak that the factor was informed about, and they came put a piece of tarp on it and said it will be responded to by the roofers. The Issue is that how can I trust the factor when the roof has had what looks like duct tape put on the tiles (one of the pictures shows the tile with silver tape in it) in multiple places. They come and do the work without pricing it if its below approx £3000 and I don't get any before and after pics. Often they don't even communicate with me do the work and go away. We all get billed for the masking tape or whatever they did, we don't know. They have immunity to do as they wish hence I don't trust them. I will however approach them to see what they suggest and just wait out the 6 weeks. Thanks for your insights. by Optimal_End_9733 (Sun 7th Aug 2022 12:51am)

GCC site : Industrial properties will receive a reduction of 100% of the Rates charge for the first 6 months that they are empty and a 10% reduction thereafter Properties which are classed as exempt will receive a continual reduction of 100% of the Rates charge. These are properties with a rateable value less than £1,700 unoccupied due to death/insolvency prohibited by law from occupation which are under compulsory purchase which are listed buildings, or have a preservation order All other properties will receive a reduction of 50% of the Rates charge for the first 3 months that they are empty and a 10% reduction thereafter by Optimal_End_9733 (Sun 7th Aug 2022 1:11pm)

Also remember flats have more surface are so roofs can be larger compared to a similar house, 75m2 house will have a smaller roof than same area flat. Also the height complication. I lived in a sh*thole in Toryglen, beautiful flat but man were the neighbours were so inconsiderate. And had parties underneath me till 730am.... The cow would go to sleep and her kids would wake up banging on her door swearing at her "I'm f*cking hungry!" I started work at 630am, what a riot. • Agreed but no 1 isn't likely in a rental like you pointed out. And no 2 is possible but most neighbours probs wouldn't care/have laminate. I would add that there are air gaps between the floor boards they need to be filled. Ideally neighbours floor boards lifted and installed with rockwool. Then put floor board Down and fill the gaps, use I think it's called radiator putty to seal gaps around radiators. If you wanna go up a level de couple the floor board as well and use acoustic mats before the carpet. It's all Alot of money. https://youtu.be/kllqv-SREeY Floor boards have air gaps, these should be filled upstairs before the carpet Try white noise and macks earplugs. Mention it to the landlord. See if he's willing to help. It's not nice. I lived with very noisy and anti social neighbours during lockdown. One advantage of a top floor is its easier to block the sound, that's what I am in now. A top floor flat. All the best. by Optimal_End_9733 (Sun 21st Aug 2022 9:40am)
  • Get a note pad and right all the problems and times you've contacted anyone for this issue (this will help you later... Trust me) Get the gardeners details your self. If they are a legit company then contact them. Give them time to respond. Be polite (again note everything down) If they are not a legit company, the I would take this up with your neighbour. They hired an uninsured contractor, it's their fault. If you don't get anywhere with the above, if it's neighbour who's liable and you already made contact then use a mediator service. If its a legit company but you get no time scales or from the neighbour you don't get anywhere look into getting a quote from a contractor for the repair. Then you can either claim on your insurance, or you can start a "simple procedure" to have you neighbour or the contractor taken to court. It's fairly simple (I've heard to fill out the form) Ps I'm not legal trained. Just had to put up with inconsiderate neighbours, and now my options. You can ask in UK legal advice forum as well. If the thieves are half sophisticated they will store them the ship them to a different city to sell. Is there insurance, or tracking devices that can be fitted at all? Cctv is often useless. Cctv systems are fidgety, and then even if available it's not like you can whatsapp it to a cop and he sees it and he's out on his way proactively looking for it. Cctv would get blocked by email or they need to use a secure USB stick etc and it doesn't work. • I'll try to be brief as I can. So after many phone calls and sending in emails with the damaged roof I got an "inspector" to come round from city building (who btw are half owned by wheatley group and Glasgow City Council! Makes you wonder right!) Main purpose was to get a quote for either a brand new roof, or repointing the ridges and replacing few tiles etc and clearing the debris. The inspector said they no longer replace roofs any longer (which isn't what his colleague who repaired the leak said to me) and he also said they likely won't repair the roof because there is a chance they will damage it more because the can break tiles etc. I am waiting for a answer from city building of they will just do a touch up or not. The city building inspector said to chase Lowther homes to get external quotes for the roof. And see if the neighbours are OK with it, which I doubt. It's gonna be approx £40k from what I have been told by other external roofers. That's about £7k each, and they want the money upfront. Lowther won't pay for it then reclaim the money. So I'll once again be chasing lowther to see if the roof can be replaced, otherwise its just a matter of time before I will get leaks coming through. Also some of the leaks may not drop on my ceiling 9t on the tarpaulin they put under the leak. They don't come back and actively see if the leaks been fixed. Which is rubbish, I have plans to go up there and add a few boards to see the attic better. If there is more trust amongst neighbours and the legal system more accessible you wouldn't need factors. The factor fees in the past 10 years would have paid for a new roof and left us with some spare change. DM me if you need any details or help etc. by Optimal_End_9733 (Sun 11th Sep 2022 8:19pm)

Even professionals in Japan mop and clean up after them selves. We need a shift in cultural mind set. Other issue I have seen is that quality control is out the window, or its managed by staff that are mates of other staff. It's low key corrupt. Or there is no quality control. So a jobs done and no one checks to see if it's done. Focus isn't quality and care, its statistics and ticking boxes. Like when we get a questionnaire about mental health at work, I feel it's so they can just tick that box and say... • I'm a Muslim but born and bred in Glasgow and from the outside the culture of drinking is a strange one. It's big money, and glamorised but I have never been tempted by it. I have seen the damage it can cause to families and relationships, that is enough for me. Regarding your girlfriend, and as you mentioned it the "drinking culture". I am in the middle of different cultures, I would say 3 different cultures, and one thing I can say is that just because something is culturally accepted doesn't make it ok. People now a days have so many different attitudes and mindsets so it's difficult to advise. If she feels it's OK to stay out till 3am, and you don't. It maybe worthwhile mentioning that this is an issue. Have a think about it. Maybe write things out so that it's not on your mind and destroy the paper later ON. Once things are on paper it's easier to see things clearly. I have had mates tell me they get so drunk they literally don't remember what they did, for someone who doesn't drink..... This is weird. I wouldn't want a loved one to be drunk in a club with other men at anytime, let alone coming back at 3am. This isn't insecurity, it's common sense, this is a human male instinct to want your partner with you and safe. Relationships have to have boundaries, maybe discuss how this makes you feel. So that she focuses on the feelings rather than make it a "you did this" you do that" because it's easier to make people defensive. So focus more on the feelings, and ask her to share what she feels. • There is no sense of a community, people are more insular and selfish. If the neighbours met each other there would be more social pressure, but people don't care. There is no higher power, no one watching. Life is just by chance, there is no meaning to life so I will just worship my pleasures in the search for hedonism. Everyone is just an random blip. My opinion is biased, as I am a recent practicing Muslim. Sense of community is waining, and no one is watching, so hell with the neighbours. Where as its part of my religion to do the following in regards to the neighbour : Allah says: “Serve Allah, and join not any partners with Him; and do good – to parents, kinsfolk, orphans, those in need, neighbours who are near, neighbours who are strangers, the Companion by your side, the wayfarer [you meet], and what your right hands possess: For Allah loveth not the arrogant, the vainglorious.” (Quran 4:36) Prophet Mohammad said: "Angel Jibril(Gabriel) advised me continuously to take care of the neighbor till I thought that Allah is to make him an inheritor." The Prophet, (Peace and blessings be upon him) said: "By Allah, he is not a believer! By Allah, he is not a believer! By Allah, he is not a believer.’’ It was asked, "Who is that, O Messenger of Allah?’’ He said, "One whose neighbour does not feel safe from his evil.” There are many more statements about neighbours we are told to enforce, depending on how high our faith is, we fail being good neighbours in many ways. But the commands are there. by Optimal_End_9733 (Thu 13th Apr 2023 6:10am)

  • I have seen something like this but at home. We kept milk (cows milk) in a button operated flask. We didn't clean it for a few months. The milk didn't come out right. So I opened it up and to my disgust there was old cheese like bits stuck in the mechanism. The milk was super hot and over time it grew in the flat, so the main vessel was cleaned and the mechanism with the spring just rinsed. I wonder if the coffee shop you went to had the soy milk in a flask or some kind of heating device and not cleaned and something dislodged it? by Optimal_End_9733 (Sun 30th Apr 2023 12:22am)

  • We vote in the people who are incentivised by banks. All uk prime ministers are working for banks or used to work for a bank. Money isn't real. It's not backed by anything. If you have money saved, it's just debt created by the bank that's passed around. In Libya they wanted to back money with gold, and we know how that ended right? Anything you see, cars houses etc. It's the banks that profit off the back of it. Also people rely on borrowing, so goods increase in price and more money is pumped into the system so your money is worth less. The money isn't printed, it's just made up. Banks make up money, they literally make it up! There are people making money from trading gold that doesn't exist, it's just a product called gold, or rice or milk..... Its crazy. In the west, imperialism and colonialism isn't as rampant, but financial imperialism/colonialism is active through the inf giving loans then forcing you as a foreign company to open the borders to foreign companies. They come in via a war or loans that you can't pay and are forced to sell your countries goods for a cheap price. Truth is, other countries have been feeling this for a while, and they are feeling it even more. Allah make things easy for us. In Islam Riba or usury is not allowed for this reason. I never understood why interest and usury wasn't allowed. But I get it now. It makes the poor poorer. by Optimal_End_9733 (Wed 17th May 2023 3:39pm)
  • Yes, your correct. We believe Judiasm Christianity and Islam come from the same diety Eloha/Alaha/Allah (in Hebrew/Aramaic(Jesus language) and Arabic. And it was banned. >It won’t be long till the banks own Allah too… Mate, they can't even own Muslims or Muslim countries. Let alone Allah, subhanahu wata'ala. Banks love war, and the BBC and other media did a great job promoting it. But the message is out and we aren't the crazy suicidal maniacs we're been shown as being. Well, maybe crazy.... Some of us... but not suicidal... Sorta. by Optimal_End_9733 (Wed 17th May 2023 8:04pm)
  • Whataboutism, there are many issues that have caused this. Mentioning Allah and Muslim countries has no bearing in this. If you have an issue with what I said feel free to point it out, I'm not an economist or financial expert but just like to be educated about this stuff. Recommend watching 97% owned on Netflix. Issue with fuel is that we in Scotland produce a lot of it but don't benefit from it. Almost half the cost of fuel goes to the UK Gov in VAT and Duty. "At the average price of around £1.53 for petrol currently, about 83 pence of that is fuel duty and VAT." https://fullfact.org/online/petrol-diesel-pump-price-fuel-tax/ Not to mention that the barrels of oil are sold in dollars, good old petro-dollar, and if that got changed it would be a riot! by Optimal_End_9733 (Wed 17th May 2023 10:31pm)

In Islam yes tattoos aren't allowed, but I know many guys in the Mosque born Muslim or became Muslim that have tattoos. Many famous Muslims have tattoos like Tyson, or Sonny Bill Williams, a New Zealand heavyweight boxer, and a former professional rugby league and rugby union player, who reverted to Islam in 2009. by Optimal_End_9733 (Wed 23rd Aug 2023 7:34pm)

Some where mistreated by the community they left, but they never looked for ex-hindu/buddhist/atheist groups. • I remember asking a religious Muslim why is it that the majority of people changing to islam are women. He told me it's because Islam gives them safety, ie men don't drink, rules against cheating, family ties, respect. With prominent Muslims in sports like Khabib the notion of family community and respecting others has become stronger. Shame your brothers didn't meet him. I don't think that is helpful, for anyone. by Optimal_End_9733 (Wed 23rd Aug 2023 7:51pm)
  • I'm sure they have, but many more have joined. Islam when up against scrutiny and despite being maligned falsely is growing and not just because of Muslim birth rates. >Religion doesn’t make sense, we know how the world was created, we know generally how it works, we have civil society and law. There’s no need for religion anymore. Doesn't make sense to you, but it makes sense to many others. Even Richard Dawkins can't say confidently there is no supreme being. Truth is using scientific method we don't know. But through deductive reasoning some say there is a cause and effect hence a creator. Problem on west is Christianity has done a rough job and is weak in theology. Unlike Islam which is thriving back in Muslim countries and in the west. It is needed in a world of selfishness racism and difference in wealth. Islam fixed these things 1400 ago. And has answers for them today. by Optimal_End_9733 (Wed 23rd Aug 2023 7:57pm)

  • >Those who still follow are just hanging on because they are scared. Regarding this. When I lie or do something bad, it's because I am not scared of Allah, when I remember him I stick to my religious code. You can also say that people are afraid of the truth that we are all dying every second, and instead of acknowledging it and doing something we ignore it. Humans tend to ignore problems exams bills etc.... Its a human feature. So it can be said that ignoring death is being scared, problems? • There is an increase in selfishness. There is no sense of community. Or care for authority or other people. I've sensed this as well. Seen people park in disabled bays, family only bays. Unashamedly. Nihilism at its best I guess, everything is meaningless, life is random we were random and we die and become nothing. All we have is our current enjoyment, no sense of responsibility. Some people are decent despite being nihilistic, some don't handle it well. Only way to fix this is fines, but having someone dish out fines costs money, and if its not a crime how do you identify someone? Ask them nicely for their name? Doesn't work. So most of us just ignore it. It's sad. Buts it what happens. by Optimal_End_9733 (Tue 29th Aug 2023 2:55pm)
  • Just to be clear, I'm not a nihilist, or promoting it. It is just the current trend. I'm not agreeing with it. I'm a Muslim, and I believe in a greater good, no matter how bad things get. And cutting up cycle lanes into a busy Road doesn't help. Blocking a lane in a cycle may work for you, but it's going to feed into the issue of frustration that feeds the aggressive nutters more, or worse make moderate tempered drivers frustrated and try and over take dangerously. • It benefits the banks, that support our elected leaders (uk) so nothing will change. Making money by giving money you don't own is the biggest con of the western banking system. In Islam taking interest is haram. Loaning and having a set price etc is OK. But only with shared risk. But banks won't take the risk. by Optimal_End_9733 (Thu 12th Oct 2023 7:05am)

  • Look up big tech and AI abuse. Im helping local companies and not feeding the global beast. Not wearing a tin foil hat here, but most products you use are all linked ie Unilever p&g etc, nestle . These same products and companies use their money to control government's via donations etc and hence we get shafted with gas electricity prices, food prices. It's why wars are happening or genocides are ignored. It's harder for us in The UK to go to war and keep the corporations making money, we don't have the miral highground/excuses not to mention other countries have better armies and weapons capabilities. It seems the corporate elites are aiming they're financial weapons at us lower and middle class Scots and UK citizens. We will be feeling a small part of what many people in the " 3rd world" felt. Ie working long hard hours to barely afford bread. The system is corrupt. InshaAllah something changes soon. by Optimal_End_9733 (Tue 12th Dec 2023 4:55pm)
