  • 1 month usually is what’s requested - 2 months is the legal maximum. by Haircutx1 (Tue 20th Oct 2020 7:01pm)
  • What was the issue with Rettie if you don’t mind me asking? I assumed they were quite good. by Haircutx1 (Tue 20th Oct 2020 8:44pm)
  • Hacking and Paterson and paying about £85 a month. They massively overcharge for the building insurance and factors cost doesn’t include close cleaning either. Both the emergency lines they provided for workmen for tenants to call that should be 24/7 were rubbish - had water coming through the roof at 2:00am and one guy said “Nah. Not coming out it’s 2:00am”. I said it was a 24/7 number and he said he still wouldn’t come out. Second number rang out. I also agreed a payment plan with them when the flat needed repairs. Repairs came to about £500 per flat - I agreed payment plan and started to receive threatening letters from H&P about an outstanding balance. I called up and was told “yeh ignore those. We can’t stop the system sending them 😂”. They pay a company £1300 a year to “maintain” our intercom and lock on the communal door - I trained and worked as an electrical engineer and can’t work out how that costs £1300...... the engineer comes out once a year and tests it for £1300 đŸ˜Ŧ Pretty sure I complained 3 times via email asking them to justify the cost and never heard back. by Haircutx1 (Wed 21st Oct 2020 12:05pm)
  • I did the same thing in 2017, I moved from Oxford to Glasgow and essentially spent all my time on Tinder and then once I was in a relationship realised I had overlooked making any mates..... I’m in Shawlands and there will be a few things to do once lockdown lifts. I box and used to play 5s prior to lockdown so give me a shout - we actually had a Reddit Glasgow football group and met for games, I’m sure we can get a Reddit meet up once the bars are open. by Haircutx1 (Fri 23rd Oct 2020 11:18am)
  • There’s art spaces in Shawlands (2-3 I think). I’m not overly sure how they work but seem to be collective spaces people go to do artistic things together - painting, pottery etc Next door to Shawlands is Govanhill and that seems to be where a lot of artistic types live - there seems to be tons of people in to communal living there. They advertise stuff locally in that part of town in the cafes and just on posters out and about. Hope that helps. by Haircutx1 (Fri 23rd Oct 2020 12:14pm)
  • https://baybottles.com/tag/stirling-bonding-co/ Apparently it was whiskey bottled in Scotland d and sent to Canada for the purposes of being smuggled in to the States during prohibition. They were quite blatant about the advertising of this fact as well given the name on the bottle. by Haircutx1 (Fri 23rd Oct 2020 1:02pm)
  • It’s a proper park with a large pond for model boats mate - same as the one in Queens Park. It was built in 1899 so not something Bovis Homes have knocked up lol 😊 by Haircutx1 (Fri 23rd Oct 2020 3:08pm)
  • No mate - it’s the same as Queens Park near Shawlands. The water is always bogging. The council seem to regularly turn up at Queens Park and even drained it a few months ago - maybe contact them? Good luck by Haircutx1 (Fri 23rd Oct 2020 3:10pm)
  • I know the ones you mean - we had a new estate near me that had a “pond” and it was basically a bog lol. OP seems to have bought a flat near an existing pond which is pretty sweet so I can see where the confusion stemmed from 👍đŸģ by Haircutx1 (Fri 23rd Oct 2020 3:25pm)
  • You've given me something to do this weekend - will head there and get so things to cook with. by Haircutx1 (Fri 23rd Oct 2020 3:58pm)
  • It’s either or mate. Usually it’s spelt Whisky in Scotland but Whiskey in Ireland and the States. It’s not uncommon to spell it Whiskey in the UK either 🤷đŸģ‍♂ī¸ by Haircutx1 (Fri 23rd Oct 2020 4:03pm)
  • I don't think anyone really cares mate. Have a day off. by Haircutx1 (Fri 23rd Oct 2020 4:19pm)
  • I just don’t care if I’m wrong mate. The correct spelling of the word is a complete non-even to me. by Haircutx1 (Fri 23rd Oct 2020 4:30pm)
  • Wasn’t sure how I felt about this - part of me thinks it’s a good thing giving people a safe place to inject and that it could save lives. Legalising drugs would cut down on crime and misery as far as I’m aware having read up on the topic. The other side of me thinks that the van is based in Parnie St in town (where the van is based) and there’s loads of residential homes there (tenements above the shops) and I don’t know how happy I’d be having people flocking to a street I lived on to inject drugs as it would create noise, an unsafe atmosphere and maybe increase crime? Especially as it’s not currently regulated. It’s certainly a difficult topic. by Haircutx1 (Fri 23rd Oct 2020 10:00pm)
  • You’re the gate keeper of who and who can’t have friends now? He’s new to country and looking for friendship in the midst of a pandemic and your solution is to deny him that and call him out because he likes Donald Trump? Prick. If you can’t see the irony in your behaviour you’re a double prick too. by Haircutx1 (Sun 25th Oct 2020 1:33am)
  • Try the Meetup app for groups to join or FB. There’s a group called new to Glasgow on FB with lots of people in your position. And ignore morons like the guy who called you out for having a political opinion that different to his. You wouldn’t want to be friends with people like that anyway! Good luck 🍀 by Haircutx1 (Sun 25th Oct 2020 1:39am)
  • If they set up a van for addicts to inject drugs right outside your apartment would you be happy with this? What I’m saying is that even if this van was moved two streets away it’d be within easy access for addicts but not in a residential street. by Haircutx1 (Sun 25th Oct 2020 10:02am)
  • Thanks for this. I read up on the Free State and Colin and it was really interesting. I liked Colin’s philosophy of “non-judgemental hospitality and inclusivity” (from the Independent article below). I mention this as this subreddit and r/Scotland has became incredibly judgemental and aggressive to people with different views to themselves so it’s refreshing to see Colin’s approach. https://www.independent.co.uk/news/obituaries/colin-macleod-326635.html by Haircutx1 (Sun 25th Oct 2020 1:38pm)
  • With respect google it to find out more - it’s pretty decent. I went in 2018 and enjoyed myself. It’s essentially the Botantic Gardens with a light show but that doesn’t do it justice ✌đŸŧ by Haircutx1 (Sun 25th Oct 2020 9:40pm)
  • Have a 6 minute sunbed mate. It works for me. I’m feeling the same as you and I’ve lost jobs as I’ve not handled anxiety and depression well in the past. Lack of sun up here seems to be a massive factor in how I feel. by Haircutx1 (Mon 26th Oct 2020 1:12pm)
  • Well I hope you’re ok mate 👍đŸģ by Haircutx1 (Mon 26th Oct 2020 3:36pm)
  • I take vit D. During the summer it made me feel like a new man - however it’s not having much affect now so I presume I’m really deficient in it. I have a sun lamp (a quality one). Need to use it again. by Haircutx1 (Mon 26th Oct 2020 3:48pm)
  • 1000 IU. I might get a higher dose or take more. I’ll research it. by Haircutx1 (Mon 26th Oct 2020 4:14pm)
  • It’s not. It’s frustrating people flout the rules so brazenly when the death count is so high. I can see they’re wearing masks but it just normalises mass gatherings for people who are less cautious with protection. by Haircutx1 (Mon 26th Oct 2020 9:12pm)
  • Rent a man with a van. The council are just using COVID as an excuse to cut down services - there’s zero reasons they can’t perform bulk uplifts. Glasgow is a shit show lately with the amount of household rubbish, beds, stripped out kitchens, microwaves etc just dumped on the street. The SNP is an embarrassment at times - We all know Sturgeons constituency of Govanhill was like this pre-COVID so she’s clearly happy for people to live in squalor. Shameful. by Haircutx1 (Tue 27th Oct 2020 10:34am)
  • Nice to see Sturgeon taking a break from killing off the hospitality industry and enjoying a sunset. by Haircutx1 (Tue 27th Oct 2020 11:59am)
  • The Southside is huge so you’ve made a bit of a sweeping generalisation - some areas are really nice and affluent, others run down and impoverished. It’d be like you writing off everything in London south of the River Thames 😉 Shawlands is great. I live there and really like it. Matches your criteria. The area’s safe and I’m out after dark all the time. Loads of cafes and bars and art spaces. Good luck 🍀 by Haircutx1 (Tue 27th Oct 2020 6:02pm)
  • Pretty much why I moved to Shawlands to be honest. by Haircutx1 (Tue 27th Oct 2020 6:25pm)
  • I don’t have a car anymore - I did when I moved to Shawlands and then decided I didn’t need one. There’s three stations nearby (Pollokshaws East, Shawlands and Newlands) and great bus routes in to the city (basically a straight road from Shawlands to Town). There’s also city bikes you can hire with a lot of locations for these dotted around Shawlands. I don’t miss my car at all. I walked to work pre-Covid and it was about 40 mins on foot one way from the heart of Shawlands to central station (I walk fast to be fair). I walked to the west end and back this weekend which wasn’t a chore either. There’s always Ubers around as well. by Haircutx1 (Tue 27th Oct 2020 6:40pm)
  • There’s been nothing published for a while. Safe to say it’ll be rolled out to make up the deficit caused by covid (obvs with a million other cost making measures). I’m in Shawlands and it’s crying out for it - most of the traffic is people using the cafes and gyms that don’t want to pay for parking so consequently it’s rammed 24/7. It gets annoying when people park huge work vans on the roads too taking up 2+ spaces or cars with flat tyres perma-parked. My neighbour bizarrely drove to work even though it was two streets away..... took longer to drive then walk. Never understood that. by Haircutx1 (Wed 28th Oct 2020 1:09pm)
  • You’re Canadian 😂 I thought America was uncultured and then I remembered the bum fuck country to the North of it that thinks it’s French. I can’t imagine pretending to be European to add some culture to my life but there you are. Jog on you Clown 🤡😂 by Haircutx1 (Wed 28th Oct 2020 4:32pm)
  • Spent an afternoon scraping off one of your posters one of your members decided to fly post all over Shawlands and stuck to the external wall of our tenement. Cheers for that. You know full well your members paste these all over town even though there’s a “no fly postering” label on them. I wouldn’t be surprised if you encourage it. Town’s a fucking mess as it is without groups pasting posters to properties all over town. by Haircutx1 (Thu 29th Oct 2020 3:32pm)
  • Essentially Sturgeon wanted to close pubs/bars and keep cafes open - but she made a complete hash of defining what a cafe actually was, so a lot of small cafes with a licence to sell bottled beer or a glass or wine had to close as the SNP effectively classed them as bars. So then such cafes complained to the council and sought legal advice about opening and not serving alcohol, one cafe won their claim (Eusebi) and let lead to others opening but not serving alcohol (fair enough) and this made the SNP look a bit silly. So - to get around it and not have the headache of the party embarrassing themselves again by getting definitions wrong, they’ve essentially allowed every establishment to open but not serve alcohol so the legal definition of a cafe/restaurant is now irrelevant for the circuit breaker lockdown. I know there’s a love affair with the SNP and Sturgeon on this sub so this will get heavily downvoted, but she cocked this up - closing places without even consulting the scottish licenced trade association was just really bad leadership. I’m in Shawlands and the stress the SNP put many small businesses and it’s employees through that are still closed until Monday is absolutely shameful. As far as I’m concerned she’s hit the lowest earning workers pockets hard and she needs to admits she’s made a mistake over it. by Haircutx1 (Thu 29th Oct 2020 8:52pm)
  • So the SNP is immune from criticism? You asked me if I think any other political party could have handled it better - well surprisingly I don’t have an in-depth knowledge of the machinations of all the other political parties active in Scotland and how they would deal with specific aspects of the economy during a global pandemic the likes of which the world hasn’t witnessed in 100 years if they were in charge. What can I tell you is what the SNP got wrong in this instance and why it happened. We voted them in and they made a mistake that’s punished the lowest paid workers in Scotland and they should be held accountable and acknowledge they got it wrong. If you don’t think politicians should be held accountable for their mistakes then you really need to asses your understating of the world - they work for us, they are accountable to us and when they get things wrong, we’re due an explanation as to why. by Haircutx1 (Thu 29th Oct 2020 9:31pm)
  • The SNP should have taken advice and worked with the Scottish Licenced Trade Association for starters - as I already stated. They failed to do that and that’s why we got in to the mess over the definition of a cafe which meant hundreds of businesses had to shut unnecessarily. by Haircutx1 (Fri 30th Oct 2020 8:26am)
  • It’s quiet mate. I’ve taken it a few times and it’s sound. The only absolute fannies I’ve experienced this lockdown were at Govanhill McDonalds and Four Corners McDonalds. Seems the Neds can’t behave at either establishment. You’ll be fine on the subway. FYI I walked to the west end and back from Shawlands last weekend for fitness so that’s an option if you don’t fancy the subway. It’s doable if a little timely. by Haircutx1 (Fri 30th Oct 2020 12:03pm)
  • Finniston McDonalds was bad due to the delivery guys - they were spitting outside constantly, one was shaving in the sink and they kept coming in to the toilet even though it was 1 in 1 out. Pretty gross considering the pandemic 😷 by Haircutx1 (Fri 30th Oct 2020 5:45pm)
  • I understand it’s having an impact on people’s mental health mate and I get your frustrations - the problem is the COVID spike in Glasgow was largely driven by Uni students. If I recall they were spreading it at a rate of about x8.5 the rest of us due to house parties, mixing in each other’s rooms constantly and heading to pubs in groups of 50. If anything I’d be locking these age ranges down tighter - I.e banning people 18-22 from the bars as this would make a massive impact on numbers for the better. by Haircutx1 (Fri 30th Oct 2020 10:25pm)
  • I get it mate. I want to go to my home country to see my friends and family. I’ve a season ticket at Celtic Park I can’t use and I haven’t stepped foot in my office since March as I’m working from the kitchen table. I’ve seen my friends once this year. I was meant to be meeting one for a drink last week but Sturgeons shut the pubs so that’s that. It’s shit for every single member of the UK - no ones getting special treatment. I genuinely hope you’re ok and I understand how you feel - but we can’t make special circumstances for students as everyone else will want it too. Chin up COVID will be over soon 👍đŸģ by Haircutx1 (Fri 30th Oct 2020 10:48pm)
  • Cheers. It’s not too bad. Just focusing on when it gets better 😊 by Haircutx1 (Fri 30th Oct 2020 11:07pm)
  • You’re advocating letting people die then? I see like me you’re a Celtic fan - let’s say by your logic at the cost of causing 10,000 extra deaths for removing lockdown so you could get back to watching Scottish football and having a pint, you’d find that acceptable? You selfish fucking prick. Why should my Granadad have jeopardised his life and spent 5 years at war so pricks like you didn’t have too? Because sometimes you little wanker we have to make sacrifices for the sake of other people. by Haircutx1 (Sat 31st Oct 2020 8:30am)
  • They’re bastards - they’ve made that website incredibly hard to navigate. Their phone line is only answered if you’re looking to pay, if they owe you money it’s “send an email” (never answered). I had an unoccupied flat and it was incredibly hard to prove. I gave up in the end. Good luck 🤞 by Haircutx1 (Sun 1st Nov 2020 10:32am)
  • Post office I think mate - they are looking for seasonal workers ASAP. Other than that agency work. Should be a load of warehouses your way ramping up for Christmas. FYI - November is the “peak” in the warehousing industry as they’re getting stuff ready for Christmas so you’ll be in a good position for work. Good luck 🍀 by Haircutx1 (Sun 1st Nov 2020 3:18pm)
  • No worries mate. Your post was really well written so I’d say you’ll come across well 👍đŸģ👌đŸģ Cheers đŸģ by Haircutx1 (Sun 1st Nov 2020 4:27pm)
  • Plenty of skaters outside Langside Hall in Shawlands. Queens Park has a lot of chill people just skating through it (not pulling off tricks, just milling about). I’d say if you hung out at Queens Park at weekends or even just walked about Shawlands carrying a board people would chat to you. Good luck 🍀 by Haircutx1 (Sun 1st Nov 2020 6:02pm)
  • It’s not the safest of areas mate. Lots of junkies and just nefarious activities going on. If you google search Highholm Street Port Glasgow and then select “News” there’s plenty of reports from the last two years about stabbings, drugs and other shite behaviour just in that one street. To be honest I don’t know much about the area other than Port Glasgow is a bit of a no go. Greenock might be a better call? by Haircutx1 (Sun 1st Nov 2020 6:13pm)
  • There’s a bit of pretentiousness with some skaters. The bohemian types in Queen’s Park will be more chill and welcoming. My board is about 350 miles away lol else I’d be out of mine. I basically just mill about on it for fun - I have an 80s Santa Cruz deck set up with period wheels etc for relaxing on. by Haircutx1 (Sun 1st Nov 2020 6:17pm)
  • It’s easily overlooked mate. Yeh if you drive go a bit further out. If it’s just a temporary move look to rent a room somewhere - it’ll give you some flexibility and you’ll be able to stay somewhere nice 👍đŸģ by Haircutx1 (Sun 1st Nov 2020 7:24pm)
  • Cheapest property in the UK and a housing estate nicknamed “Chernobyl”. https://www.heraldscotland.com/news/17787213.housing-estate-described-like-chernobyl/ Yeh sounds absolutely fantastic. You gave me a laugh saying Port Glasgow is a good place to live if you want to commute to Glasgow though - it’s a half hour minimum on the train and about 35km by car...... if you want cheap and close to Glasgow you’d go for Paisley. by Haircutx1 (Sun 1st Nov 2020 9:11pm)
  • I couldn’t recommend a 3 bed flat anywhere for £349pm and that’s a singing review of all the places I’ve worked and lived. I’ve just checked RM and there’s not a single 3 bed in the whole of Glasgow for £349pm. Do you understand what that means? The implication is Port Glasgow is a lot rougher than you think it is. I don’t think you quiet grasp how demographics of areas work - the whole of Port Glasgow is tainted by the Chernobyl housing estate as it resonates out. by Haircutx1 (Mon 2nd Nov 2020 8:27am)
  • I went in 2018 and quite enjoyed it. I went last week to the 2020 show and it was awful. The light show was non-existent to a large extent. You can’t stand about and take anything in as ushers move you on and they wanted additional money for an extra section once inside. They make a big deal of the food area which is extortionate and they don’t adhere to covid rules when serving you (they handed my order to the wrong person, took it back off them and tried to hand to me all without washing hands etc). It’s essentially an excuse to get you in to the food court. The whole thing was shit. Avoid. by Haircutx1 (Mon 2nd Nov 2020 10:03am)
  • I didn’t want you wasting your money ✌đŸŧ by Haircutx1 (Mon 2nd Nov 2020 10:28am)
  • Tricky. Best to hire a consultant to do this for you. Even then the change in class may not be allowed. With respect I don’t think people are just going to dish out free advice on LinkedIn for such a complex issue as they may be held accountable by yourself if anything goes wrong and also it’s such a complex issue they’d probably want payment for their time. The council will pretty much tell you to hire a consultant if you approach them for advice too - I’m in a similar industry and if people ask for advice we always say go with a consultant. It’s very very rare people don’t and when they don’t they often get a lot wrong and get their application rejected. Probably not what you wanted to hear but best advice I can offer. by Haircutx1 (Mon 2nd Nov 2020 10:31am)
  • Ah I see. There was some parts I enjoyed to be fair. There was some nice pumpkin carvings and that section was good. I feel really bad now as I’ve just realised you have tickets! by Haircutx1 (Mon 2nd Nov 2020 10:47am)
  • So there should be a landlord registry held by the local authority - try that; https://www.landlordregistrationscotland.gov.uk Search the postcode and select the address from the drop down. If they’re using an agent it will give the agents address if not it’ll be their address...... just a heads up that I had addicts opposite me once and the landlord was in the Seychelles (overseas landlords should be abolished I feel!). However I suspect someone renting to junkies may not be registered as a landlord...... Also sorry to hear you’re going through this mate 😔 by Haircutx1 (Mon 2nd Nov 2020 11:15am)
  • I couldn’t answer that. You’d need to get a quote mate as each case is different 👍đŸģ I think you’d need a planning consultant. Seems to be a lot of places that do this. by Haircutx1 (Mon 2nd Nov 2020 11:26am)
  • Yeh Marshmallow land. I’ll be honest you walk through like a tunnel of lights which is a bit shit, then there’s pumpkins and fire and a large moon which is decent, then you walk through more tunnels of light which are shit and then you queue to get in to the food area. In the food area there’s a UFO laser light show which is decent but again not worth the money. I’d rate the whole thing 2/10. by Haircutx1 (Mon 2nd Nov 2020 11:45am)
  • I’ve check mate and it’s up to date. Just checked on a property over the road that’s been rented a month ago and that’s all current 👍đŸģ by Haircutx1 (Mon 2nd Nov 2020 12:01pm)
  • No he was from the Seychelles. It wasn’t a tax loophole or anything - l lived opposite him before he moved back home to the Seychelles and rented his place out. He rented the flat out to a woman whose daughter was an addict and moved her addict BF in. I had his email address but he never cared and stopped replying. by Haircutx1 (Mon 2nd Nov 2020 1:08pm)
  • You serious? Why would your council flat be on a registry for landlords? The local authority or housing association that rents you your flat isn’t a landlord........ I shouldn’t really have to explain this so I suppose you must be at it. by Haircutx1 (Mon 2nd Nov 2020 6:56pm)
  • Fair enough 👍đŸģ by Haircutx1 (Mon 2nd Nov 2020 7:04pm)
  • That’s bollocks. Strathbungo was a small village long before it merged with Shawlands and Govanhill. All the property there is over 120 years old so not sure how you think it’s a name “invented by developers”? You’re talking rubbish and clearly have no knowledge of the area or Glasgow at all. Strathbungo proper on the opposite side of the road to Queens Park is really affluent. The area where Strathbungo boarders Govanhill is less affluent but still a lot nicer than Govanhill. https://bungoblog.com/about/ Educate yourself on the area before you start talking shite again. by Haircutx1 (Mon 2nd Nov 2020 9:02pm)
  • Can confirm it was shite and cramped. Not sure how they justify the costs to be honest. by Haircutx1 (Mon 2nd Nov 2020 10:27pm)
  • Just speaking for Shawlands and Strathbungo they will want you in and out as they’re small cafes with high turnover. I don’t know if libraries are open but that would be an option? by Haircutx1 (Tue 3rd Nov 2020 2:23pm)
  • I feel for you mate. I think we’re due to organise a Reddit Glasgow Meetup for a pint once restrictions are over - I know I need one as I’m in a similar boat to yourself due to the virus. Let’s see if we can gauge some interest 👍đŸģ✌đŸŧ Would probably elevate a lot of peoples low moods. by Haircutx1 (Tue 3rd Nov 2020 5:55pm)
  • I made friends around football here but since that’s out the window as you can’t attend games I haven’t seen anyone for ages. The rest of my mates are about 400 miles away and I’ve put off travelling back and forth due to corona sadly. by Haircutx1 (Tue 3rd Nov 2020 6:05pm)
  • We’ll get it organised when pubs are opened. Probably central Glasgow to make it easier for everyone. by Haircutx1 (Tue 3rd Nov 2020 6:51pm)
  • Same. Finally arranged for a pint with a guy from work even though we’re all working remotely and sturgeon shut the pubs lol by Haircutx1 (Tue 3rd Nov 2020 7:12pm)
  • Same. Add to that having a massive panic attacking about the meeting of life and then feeling a depressed once the sun has set and that’s my day too lol by Haircutx1 (Tue 3rd Nov 2020 7:24pm)
  • We’ll get it organised đŸē by Haircutx1 (Tue 3rd Nov 2020 7:23pm)
  • Fuck it it’ll be over soon 🤞😎 Vaccine by Xmas i reckon by Haircutx1 (Tue 3rd Nov 2020 7:28pm)
  • We’ll all be aboard the beer train once pubs are open mate 👍đŸģ by Haircutx1 (Tue 3rd Nov 2020 7:31pm)
  • Yeh it’s the loft. I need to get it out. Thanks by Haircutx1 (Tue 3rd Nov 2020 8:11pm)
  • Lol. Let’s party like it’s March 2023 đŸĨŗ by Haircutx1 (Tue 3rd Nov 2020 9:00pm)
  • I reckon they’ll be some big numbers up for a beer đŸē by Haircutx1 (Tue 3rd Nov 2020 10:08pm)
  • Hope she gets something sorted out. I was an apprentice years back so understand it's tough to sort housing whilst on shite pay. Sending positive thoughts. by Haircutx1 (Wed 4th Nov 2020 10:33am)
  • I couldn’t get above 3g on Three in late 2018 in Shawlands. Had to walk to Strathybungo to get to 4g. I was with three less than two weeks and had to cancel and go back or O2 it was that bad. Never had this problem with Vodafone or O2. Three is absolute dogshit outside of the city centre. Even the call quality was dire. I’d avoid mate - Three is cheap for a reason! by Haircutx1 (Wed 4th Nov 2020 9:50pm)
  • The call quality was so bad I couldn’t even really call to complain. Then when I walked to somewhere with a signal to call the call centre some guy 7000 miles away tried telling me I couldn’t cancel even though I was literally holding a leaflet that came with the phone saying you could get a refund within two weeks lol Never ever again. by Haircutx1 (Thu 5th Nov 2020 8:50am)
  • I complained no one emptied the bin at the end of my street a few years ago (it always looked like this) and their solution was to remove the bin lol by Haircutx1 (Fri 6th Nov 2020 8:46am)
  • I’m a season ticket holder at Celtic and honour the war dead. Absolutely no need for your comment. Thanks for the sweeping generalisation there 👌đŸģ✊đŸģ There’s a war memorial in Newton Mearns just as you enter via the kilnmarnock road. I suggest there. It’s close to Shawlands - I’ve walked there and back from Shawlands loads of times. by Haircutx1 (Fri 6th Nov 2020 1:42pm)
  • No worries. Both my grandparents were Catholics and served 👍đŸģ (Royal Marines and Navy). There’s always people with poppies on at Celtic Park. Last time the Green Brigade bood a minutes silence the stadium erupted against them - it’s a tiny minority who are dickheads about it 😊 Good luck ✌đŸŧ by Haircutx1 (Fri 6th Nov 2020 1:52pm)
  • Alright mate. Firstly I’m sorry to hear this. My advice is rent a room somewhere - I’ve done this before and it’s a lot cheaper than renting a flat and also you get the flexibility of being able to try out different areas and not have to worry about furniture etc. I rented a great room in Newlands (really nice area) for £500 a month all bills included but in all honesty you should be able to do this for a lot less - probably as low as £300/£350 some places! FYI older women are great to live with as they generally keep the place tidy and will generally be decent company. Once you’ve got established and saved some £ then look at getting a flat for a bit of independence. Just out of interest what’s driving the decision to claim UC? I assume the state of the job market but for the sake of your mental health and to have a bit of a social life you want to be earning. I’m happy to let you know where I went wrong and what I got right in the job market. Good luck 🤞🍀 by Haircutx1 (Fri 6th Nov 2020 5:06pm)
  • Loads caught fire in Glasgow last year. And some flats near me that weren’t finished. And the same cunts that did it are out again this year. No idea why fireworks aren’t sold to people with valid ID or other measures to prevent this lot getting them. by Haircutx1 (Fri 6th Nov 2020 5:14pm)
  • Ask for it to be amended to specifically mention parking. It may be however like the flat I’m in, there’s parking but not allocated spaces - so whilst we always manage to get parked, there’s a chance at some point in the future we may not due to # of cars vs # of spaces. They’ll probably word something to reflect this. by Haircutx1 (Fri 6th Nov 2020 6:48pm)
  • Alright mate. We were slightly late getting in with kids but they didn’t seem to take notice. I think we were probably 10-15 mins over and they said nothing. In all honesty not everyone will turn up so there will be some leeway and I can’t imagine they’d turn away someone with their kid. I hope you both have fun. ✌đŸŧ by Haircutx1 (Sat 7th Nov 2020 9:35pm)

  • Because they don’t give a fuck about spreading corona virus. Same cunts all in fancy dress for Halloween last weekend piling in to house parties up and down Sauchiehall street in mobs 10-12 deep. I think they’re cunts - they’re spreading the virus at the rate of *8.5 any other group. When people I know abroad ask why our death count is so high I always say it’s because we so many domestic Uni students and probably the same number in overseas students. The fact is both the English and Scottish Govs are protecting the revenue stream for Unis because they make so much cash from overseas students - whilst small businesses like cafes and bars suffer. Made me laugh - not a police officer in sight last weekend on sauchiehall street and yet apparently fines of £10,000 in place for parties. Wasn’t hard to spot a party 🎉 by Haircutx1 (Sun 8th Nov 2020 1:35am)
  • Depends where abouts in town you are mate. Gnom in the Southside is always child free. Anywhere small and independent should be. Hate to say this but the pricier the place the less likely for screaming kids and the more likely if there was the parents would pick up on it. I appreciate where you’re coming from as I was in a place months back and two kids were running laps and screeching, it was unbearable and the parents didn’t give a fuck 🙄 by Haircutx1 (Sun 8th Nov 2020 10:31am)

  • I don’t understand the question mate - what are 50 and 90 measures of? Ideally you want gas heating. Electric heating is a bit of a cheap option for flat builders and costs a lot to run and isn’t very efficient. There’s also “wet electric” where the electric is used to heat water for heating (much like a gas system). I looked at your previous posts - are you looking to live in the place? I looked at buying a place for cash to live in and then eventually decided to get a small mortgage as typically in Glasgow (or anywhere really) places are cheap for a reason and buy paying not much more I got somewhere nice and less threatening. by Haircutx1 (Fri 20th Nov 2020 11:27am)
  • Nope. OP is looking at flats for £35k. Tell me where you can buy a flat in a large city in the UK for that money in an area that isn’t rundown? With respect have a look at what I’ve posted and OPs post history as I stated before you wade in with assumptions and accusations. by Haircutx1 (Fri 20th Nov 2020 11:34am)
  • I understand that - but what are 50 and 90? £? £ per month? kW? etc I’m assuming now OP means £ per month of use for electric if the flat was just solely powered by electric as opposed to gas and electric but it isn’t clear. by Haircutx1 (Fri 20th Nov 2020 11:52am)
  • No worries mate. So elec costs on average £200 more a year than gas to heat a household (Which Mag, 2020). The average household is a 3 bed house so let’s assume your flat will cost £120 a year more. So take what you’re paying now for gas and elec and you’ll be paying about £10 a month more just for elec. So if gas was £40 a month and elec £30 month then a solely elec place would cost about £80 a month. by Haircutx1 (Fri 20th Nov 2020 12:21pm)
  • You won’t get a ticket. Some Police are decent and some aren’t - same as in any walk of life (I’m sure the same ratio applies to Managers of Greggs for example). You’ve clearly met a decent one. Seems like they took the sensible route - they checked your details and you didn’t have outstanding warrants or were flagged as a drug dealer etc so they understood the circumstances around what you did and you went on your way. by Haircutx1 (Sat 21st Nov 2020 10:38am)
  • I’m in Shawlands and it’s fine. Sounds like it’s your flat mate - see if you can get it investigated. by Haircutx1 (Sat 21st Nov 2020 1:09pm)
  • Jokes aside (ha ha). Could be the pipes - there’s a possibility sewage or waste is seeping in to the drinking water. That would affect the taste. New plumbing can affect the taste - this is down to the traces of copper or other materials coming in to contact with the water. With old pipes there’s a build up that lines the pipes that prevents this. External spillage - tastes and smells of petrol/fuel can be caused when petrol, diesel or other solvents have been spilt. These chemicals can travel through plastic water pipes and enter your water supply. by Haircutx1 (Sat 21st Nov 2020 5:57pm)
  • The lead pipes will be lined with lime scale or other minerals though - effectively the older the pipes the better off you are (less chance of the lead leeching through the build up). by Haircutx1 (Sat 21st Nov 2020 7:12pm)
  • Yeh I remember looking in to a pipe I’d cut once and the inside diameter was tiny because of all the build up! I worked with a guy once that wouldn’t drink the water at work because we had galv’d pipes. I know galv is fairly nasty chemically but I assumed it was fine due to limescale build up. by Haircutx1 (Sat 21st Nov 2020 8:01pm)
  • That slag told me to “fuck off” right in my face when I said I didn’t have any change. I was a bit taken aback she got so aggressive so quickly. She had a rant a then disappeared. Next morning she’s sat against a wall and I’m walking past to work and saw her and it really pissed me off so I stopped and said “remember me?” and she didn’t have a clue what I was referring to. • This is how I feel about the SNP. I don’t think they have any concrete policies aside from pushing for Indy Ref 2 - I went on their website for more info and it’s so vague on what their policies are or what the plans are for the future. Seems their strategy is A) Blame Tories B) Referendum. I remember their last election leaflet was just two sides of A5 slagging off Ruth Davidson...... it was like ok great you don’t like the Tories, but what do you stand for as a party other then Indy and not liking Tories? I honestly don’t think they know themselves. by Haircutx1 (Sat 21st Nov 2020 11:46pm)
  • I worked there (working from home now) and was surprised Merchant City was on the turn before Covid. The junkies were going through the cigarette bins on walls for dog ends in the mornings which meant they were milling about about when I wasn’t expecting them to - I was taking a longer route to Merchant City as well rather than up the Tron Gate as that scares me to death...... still remember seeing a junkie waking down the Tron Gate glassy eyed and uncapped needle in hand about a meter from me...... gives me the fear I could have bumped in to it. by Haircutx1 (Sat 21st Nov 2020 11:54pm)
  • It’ll return to normal post-covid hopefully. I try to walk on the side of the road that Abbey Chemist isn’t on when I’m walking the Tron Gate as you’re guaranteed to be dodging junkies. • I live in the area and when I go to work I see them walking in from Govanhill. I see them walking in to town to do the same. I recognise them. I also see them change over at set times of the day (shift-change) where one gets out the sleeping bag and the other gets in. I see their boss stop by in a BMW and drop off phones, collect money and chat to them. I see the same guys at weekends in normal clothes just cutting about Morrison’s doing a weekly big shop. I mean aside from all of that it’s widely covered in the worlds news that the Romani so this throughout Europe. by Haircutx1 (Sun 22nd Nov 2020 1:23am)
  • Lol. She makes me laugh as she’s clearly hanging out down the Tron Gate for drugs - she’s in that location and looks like an addict then gets annoyed when you don’t believe her tale of needing £0.60p for car insurance or £0.40p for a trip to Zurich etc 😅 by Haircutx1 (Sun 22nd Nov 2020 1:19am)
  • DELETED That’s not ok though is? You can’t condone crime as “well it’s part of their culture”. Human trafficking, prostitution, women sold in to slavery, dogs stolen at knifepoint in Queens Park, robberies, house breaking and much more - all the work of the Romani in Govanhill - we know it’s true, we live in the area and witness it, we see the names and cases in the newspapers . For example here’s a slavery case linked to Govanhill and the Romani: https://www.sundaypost.com/fp/i-was-taken-to-a-flat-and-told-the-man-there-wanted-to-buy-a-wife-for-his-son-i-was-sold-to-him-for-3500trebisovgovanhillthe-victim/ This isn’t fine, this isn’t ok, don’t say this is a way off life because there’s absolutely no excuse to be involved in this type of crime! • Photos. Take photos and send these to the factors. The shock value could get them to see sense. If that fails, review the factors online on google reviews or similar at 1 star and upload the photos. Then send the factors the link. Bad reviews on one think, visual reviews of squalor are another. It’s hard work, but factors are lazy. We had to ring in three times about a trip hazard in the close before they turned up. by Haircutx1 (Sun 22nd Nov 2020 10:27am)
  • What would the SNP do differently then? I don’t think you know. I’m not advocating the Tories but there’s a dangerous mentality up here of people that vote for the SNP because they’re not the Tories without understanding what either parties policies are....... or do you you expect some sort of Thacter-esqe scenario again because your understanding of the Tories is based on a tiny bit of knowledge you have about Thacther between ‘79-‘90? And for the record I was referring to people returning to working in the city centre and that will aliviate the affect of the junkies running wild., not the economy. by Haircutx1 (Sun 22nd Nov 2020 3:42pm)
  • At 15 I got weekend work in a hotel. That was legal late ‘90s for under X hours a week. I presume it will be now. I was paid via bank and it wasn’t a cash in hand gig. I think it was 5 hours one day and 4 the other? I had a weekend and night job at Sainsbury’s at 16 and I’m sure a lad there was 15. He either had to have parental permission or something from his school? Aside from either of those my paper round paid £17 a week back in 1998. That’s £30 a week adjusted for inflation. Not a bad wage for someone whose 15. I had two rounds at one point so made double. Good luck 🤞 by Haircutx1 (Sun 22nd Nov 2020 9:11pm)

  • I’ve had them before. They may drug test you your first day. It’s a urine test and they look for a variety of drugs including marijuana. The random test is usually if they suspect someone at the company is using drugs so they’ll test other people to make the test appear random when it’s not. For instance if one person on a shift or team is suspected of doing drugs you’ll all get tested. I was at a logistics company (a German one - you can probably guess which) and they suspected someone of using drugs, tested the whole shift and practically all of them were sacked. Another place one of the managers was a heroine user so they selected her and 2 others they knew would be clean for a “random test”. Another company I visited (I was an engineer) suspected someone of smoking marijuana on the job and tested the shift and same thing, lost about 2/3 of the shift. Bizarrely I worked at a company north of Glasgow (I’m a contractor) and they tested a load of the warehouse for drugs and one guy came back positive for cocaine but kept his job as he’d already declared to the company via the union that he was a drug addict and legally they couldn’t sack him. by Haircutx1 (Tue 24th Nov 2020 5:04pm)
  • I rented a room a while back. Word of advice - there’s a few Chinese landlords who are based in China but want to give the impression they’re based in Glasgow. I had a run in with one that said the flat was a 2 bed (with one other housemate) when it was actually a 3 bed with 2 other housemates. I was told the doors had locks but they didn’t. Another was up the Gallowgate/Calton area which is a bit of a shit hole but I needed somewhere fast for a few months and it was £300 for the room a month. I just wanted somewhere cheap to secure a room as I needed to be flexible moving in. After agreeing to price they then doubled it to £600 a month right before I moved in. I’m not sure if it was the SpareRoom or AirBnB, however i contacted the site to complain and effectively they removed the listening. It was years ago and I think I paid £300, then got refunded and they then sent me a link again to the listing for £600..... this was days before I was set to take the place on. What grated me most was when the owner said it was a “special price” for me 😂 Also they told me it was a great area and being familiar with Glasgow, knew it’s basically fairly rough. So be careful! by Haircutx1 (Wed 25th Nov 2020 11:49am)

I was pretty disgusted as essentially I got to see the man’s pubes as he pulled the 6 bars out of his pants and sort of didn’t know what to do. Before I could say “nah you’re alright mate”, some old dear who was in ear shot basically barged me out of the way, thrust a £1 coin at him, grabbed the bars and headed off. • We’re UK citizens. Might be worth understanding how our citizenship system works first. I’m not sure if I agree with the whole “my country’s having issues, I’m off” mentality - if everyone just left when their fellow citizens or leaders did something they didn’t like they’d just a merry-go round of people hopping from country to country on a permanent basis without the issues ever getting resolved. You understand that with the flow and ebb of time these events happen? As horrible as they are - events play out. Also with respect, there was protestors burning your cities to the ground for months all year - buildings burned, shops looted, people shooting police etc and you’ve just decided only now after the Capitol Hill debacle that it’s time to leave - and not at any point prior with the other events in the states in 2020? I don’t like Trump but that kind of smacks of hypocrisy to me. The states sat back all year and watched their country burn and supported it, but now the other side does similar and “it’s time to go, it’s all kicking off”. America’s made its bed and needs to lie in it. by Haircutx1 (Thu 7th Jan 2021 10:09am)

Issues like this are getting worse in Scotland and the go to approach by many voters like yourself is “fuck the Tories” and the SNPs response is always “but the Tories” when in fact it’s an SNP issue. • I’ve had letters dated say the 10th Jan and the post mark from their franking machine on the letter states the 16th etc I think this is down to ineptitude rather than anything else. I’m sure I complained about it once when they were tapping me up for money by a set date for something and they immediately yielded (possibly when I moved to a new flat years ago on my return to Glasgow). For some reason they cancelled our direct debit (checked with the bank and they said it was the council’s end) and then sent threatening letters to both me and the Mrs (one each lol) saying they wanted paid for the council tax 🙄 Tried to call to get the DD in place again but obviously the recorded message states no ones available due to Covid (amazing as I’m a civil servant working from home and people can call me)...... luckily it’s sorted now. They are shite though. Weirdly NS stated Glasgow or Scotland (I can’t remember which) has a the cheapest council tax in the UK.... • You’re over thinking it mate 👍đŸģ That article is more about the tenements in the hands of slum landlord in Govanhill and the like (they are falling apart) that won’t have had any maintenance carried out on them for decades. Generally tenements in Partick etc will be fine. You can tell from looking at one (generally) what’s well maintained and what isn’t (obvs you’ll want to read the survey as well, but the outside and close is usually a good indication). The report mentions social housing in Govanhill, Ibrox, Cessnock, East Pollokshields, Strathbungo, Haghill and Dennistoun. If you avoid flats in blocks that have high numbers of cheap (very cheap) rented flats and social flats you’ll be grand. I remember worrying that every tenement had higher than normal (but safe) readings for damp so I didn’t view them based on the home report, until realising due to their design and age this is normal and totally safe. Some will probably post up a story of a tenement collapsing here to spook you, but I live in a tenement and can assure you they’re fine. Repairs will be more due to their age - but there we go. It’s part of their charm. Good luck. by Haircutx1 (Thu 28th Jan 2021 3:41pm)
  • I think you’ve missed the crux of what I’m saying - avoid blocks with social tenants or very cheap privately rented flats as these are the worst maintained. That still gives you massive scope to buy a tenement elsewhere in Glasgow. Practically anywhere in fact. I used the Partick in the West End as an example, because on a sliding scale, there’s less of the type of flats you want to avoid there - there’s plenty of good tenements in cheaper areas, you’ll have to do more homework on who owns the flats in the block, condition of the building etc. I don’t live in the West End and I own a tenement so your point is kind of moot. I feel like you’ve turned your comment in to some sort of statement of classism regards the fact I mentioned the West End when I don’t even live there 🤷 by Haircutx1 (Thu 28th Jan 2021 5:26pm)
  • Silicon sealant. You can literally pick up some and an applicator from Poundland for a couple of quid and it’ll do as a makeshift repair for the winter. You may be able to pick on a device that collects water from the air to remove moisture in the room. Obviously your first port of call is to contact the landlord and get them to fit new seals. Keep the receipts and log the time you took to make these repairs in the meantime and mention it to the letting agent if you’re using one. by Haircutx1 (Sun 7th Feb 2021 12:56pm)
  • I went for a run in to town and back today and the graffiti was the worst I’d seen it. Whoever Kloser and Reebok are they’re a pair of cunts. Town just looks shit. I’ll add to this I’m annoyed how much of a shite hole Shawlands is looking because of the “freeze rent” and anti-capitalism posters the anarchists are sticking up all over the place..... we get it, rents are too high, but stop making the overpriced area I live in more of a misery during the pandemic by sticking anti-capitalist or anti-rent leaflets on every wall, window, bin, fence and piece of street furniture as it’s doing my head in. I get the green haired anarchist brigade want to live in some sort of post-apocalyptic graffiti and poster ridden shite hole of a future but I don’t. Cunts. by Haircutx1 (Fri 12th Feb 2021 6:47pm)
  • Marketing term. It’s quite nice there as well. I nearly bought a flat in 2017 in that part of town. Ended up buying in Shawlands a year later. Whilst Shawlands has more to do, the New Gorbals area is immaculate in terms of having no rubbish or graffiti. by Haircutx1 (Mon 1st Mar 2021 12:26pm)
  • I’m a Celtic ST holder but if Rangers fans want to go coco with fireworks for a little while why are you even bothered? There’s fuck all else to do. I heard a few pops and bangs - it wasn’t an issue for me or anyone else I imagine. Chill out. You’ve asked a question then answered it yourself as well? Stop moaning. You’re boring. by Haircutx1 (Sun 7th Mar 2021 1:00am)
  • For a start it’s not the bin men. If they can’t access your bins they won’t collect your bins, simple as that. That’s just common sense. Secondly the close isn’t your personal shed to store all of the shite that should be kept outside or in your flat - if someone’s punctured your tires then take that a lesson that your bikes shouldn’t have been there. The close is a shared communal space, it needs to be kept clear for cleaning, for access for the emergency services (I’ve had a neighbour stretchered out in my block) and for access for the neighbours (deliverers etc). So stop being a twat and blocking it with your shite. by Haircutx1 (Sun 7th Mar 2021 2:26pm)
  • Just google Glasgow florists and look at the reviews listed online. Not being funny but that’s literally what you should be doing rather than asking here. by Haircutx1 (Mon 8th Mar 2021 11:38am)
  • Sturgeon and The Police should have predicted this weeks ago - Rangers haven’t won anything for 10 years and it was obvious they were all going to descend on the two locations of Ibrox stadium and George Square as soon as the league was announced. I thought NS’s tweet was pathetic in all honesty, it showed a pic of George Square will a few Rangers fans milling about with a “well done Rangers but please behave” message, not the photo of the absolute rammy it turned in to later on with thousands shoulder to shoulder. Sturgeon is so vocal on issues she believes she can control and then completely absent on issues she can’t. I’m a season ticket holder at Celtic and not even upset with Rangers fans for what happened as I think Celtic fans would have done the same, I’m more annoyed that the Gov have time and time again let these mass gatherings happen. It’s not even that hard to work out who was there as it’s all over social media. I can imagine there will be the usual finger pointing by Sturgeon (she always feels the need to pin the blame on someone - not sure how she’ll pin this on the English though who are her usual scapegoat). by Haircutx1 (Mon 8th Mar 2021 2:04pm)
  • Read the home report, but don’t take it as gospel. They miss so much stuff it’s unreal - I remember opening a walk in cupboard at a newish flat and there was a hole in the wall surrounded by black mould. I peered in and there was a leaking pipe inside. There was also staining in the ceiling in places in other rooms which indicated a leaking roof (top floor). All this missed by the report. I actually questioned at times whether the surveyors even turn up at times when they wrote the home report! by Haircutx1 (Wed 10th Mar 2021 10:18pm)
  • DELETED Just tell anyone that’s a Rangers fan not to smash any memorial benches at the park to pieces for no reason and your fan base is good to go 👍đŸģ Probably should go without the club having to say this but there we are. by Haircutx1 (Wed 17th Mar 2021 6:58pm)
  • People shouldn’t put up stickers or paste posters to walls full stop. It makes the area we live in look like a dive and costs us the tax a payer a fortune in increased GCC tax to deal with getting cleaned. One group sticking up pro-X stickers only encourages another group to stick up anti-X stickers. We need to break the cycle of it. by Haircutx1 (Sat 20th Mar 2021 10:56am)
  • My neighbours never lock our close door and it really pisses me off as people just wander in. We had the police in our car park the other night going round with torches (I still don’t know what it was about) but there was 2-3 vans and about 8 officers. Anyway the Police went block to block and our close door was open again. Really annoys me as a parent that someone who’s a criminal could had got in so easily. It’s the same few people that leave it open to and I don’t understand why - laziness I presume? by Haircutx1 (Sun 21st Mar 2021 12:13pm)
  • I paid £500 a month all bills included in a nice area of Glasgow (Newlands) in 2017-18 for a room and use of the rest of the flat. Glasgow is great, I’ve worked in Dublin but it’s so expensive. Two places I’ve worked and loved but didn’t warrant the cost were Oxford and Dublin, I just felt you could get the same quality standard of living for a lot less elsewhere. Your salary will go a long way here as it’s relatively cheap to eat out and drink comparatively to most countries biggest cities. Brunch and coffee will cost around £9 combined and pint a averages about £3.50 in nice bars. Good luck 🍀 by Haircutx1 (Wed 24th Mar 2021 9:12pm)
  • No worries. If ever you need to know about an area or how much you should pay let me know. Probably start off with SpareRoom (the website) and go from there 🍀 by Haircutx1 (Wed 24th Mar 2021 10:23pm)
  • The average price of a price in a nice bar across the city mate. There’s loads of places in the southside where I pay £3 for a pint. by Haircutx1 (Thu 25th Mar 2021 7:53am)

  • Fucking hell that’s atrocious. For anyone dipping in to this post, watch the video to the end lol I’ve done community litter picks a few times and it frustrates me we have to do so, especially when it’s clearly down to the ineptitude of GCC and evidently from this video, their employees. I noticed Sturgeon was filming in Shawlands a few days ago where there’s constantly a sea of rubbish in the streets and also overflowing bins in QP regularly (it’s almost as if GCC haven’t figured out yet that sunny days = overflowing bins. Sigh.) and I doubt she’ll acknowledge it, she must be aware of the issue with litter in Glasgow. by Haircutx1 (Fri 26th Mar 2021 11:01am)
  • This. Just stood, static, 5 abreast across a path with a couple of dogs on leads zig-zagging back and forth and then looking at me as if I’ve landed from out of space because I’m making eye contact to try and get past. Ah yeh it’s fine. I’ll just walk on the boggy mud in my clean shoes to walk around you whilst you stand and a chat like a huge fucking roadblock. And don’t acknowledge me of apologise. Just stare at me like I’m a cunt for approaching your chin wag. by Haircutx1 (Thu 1st Apr 2021 11:14am)
  • Roads are awful. Since moving back to Glasgow I’ve blown out two sidewalls on my car tires. There’s certain roads I’ve had to avoid on my bike as you’re cycling along and then all of a sudden there’s a crater the size of the Grand Canyon. The Mrs constantly gets the buggy wheels stuck crossing roads with the baby. We’ve had to replace the bearings already as the constant vibration from the shitty roads and paths has knackered them (I’m an engineer by training so managed to do this myself). Sturgeon keeps bleeting on about how it’s the cheapest council tax in the UK though...... I pay £240 approx over 10 months.... fucking disgrace. Judy wonder what’s she’s doing with the money because it’s certainly not being spent on the road repairs, rubbish clean up or graffiti removal. by Haircutx1 (Fri 2nd Apr 2021 12:34pm)
  • Anytime she’s questioned about breaking the SNP’s promises they made on council tax (she promised to scrap council tax in the 2007 manifesto) she replies with stating Scotland has the lowest council tax in the UK. You probably missed it because it typically happens in political debates and probably don’t watch them? She makes the claim frequently. As frequently as she’s questioned on why the SNP broke their promises on council tax anyway. by Haircutx1 (Fri 2nd Apr 2021 7:19pm)
  • Hey. With respect - there’s a few reasons: 1) People typically don’t like renting to students as they are more likely to damage properties, create noise, default on rent etc. Parents usually act as guarantor on rent but that wouldn’t work for you as if you default on rent they cannot take your parents to a UK court as they’re abroad. 2) People without jobs are more likely to default on rent. That’s just a fact unfortunately so if 10 people apply for the flat you’re looking at and they’re all employed, they’ll take priority over you. 3) EU students in the UK don’t have the best track record paying back loans. I think about £600 million from EU students is owed to the UK in loans that have been defaulted on. My own brother in law is an example of this (disappeared home and stopped paying the loan. No intention to either apparently). 4) The rental market in glasgow is red hot - if you owned a flat would you rather rent to an resident engineer, a civil servant etc with a guaranteed income or an international student? UK based professional renters would be less likely to default on rent and easier to take to court if they did. You’d be better off (as I did in 2017) renting a room in shared house or looking to specific student accommodation. by Haircutx1 (Tue 13th Apr 2021 11:34am)
  • Yeh flats go within days unfortunately. You could also try a less desirable area but anywhere remotely hip you have completion from all over the globe. by Haircutx1 (Tue 13th Apr 2021 1:25pm)
  • Has the First Minister been questioned about this? I’ll get downvoted, but just feel she’s so hellbent on Indy that everything else gets neglected. I just wish the focus was on making Glasgow great, it just seems her focus is elsewhere. We’re Scotland’s being city and yet it feels like we’re massively overlooked. I think the worst thing is so if these buildings and facilities will be housed in beautiful buildings left to rot when they close and then knocked down and replaced by cheaply made, bland looking student accommodation. by Haircutx1 (Wed 21st Apr 2021 10:36pm)
  • Overseas investment in property in any country should be made illegal. Greece was offering “Golden Visas” which meant if you spent €1m on property in Greece you got a Visa - consequently the Chinese were buying up 10x €100k properties at a time and then AirBnBing them out - it essentially priced a generation out of Athens who were born and raised there. Biggest culprits in Glasgow for BTL overseas landlords are Pakistanis and the Chinese. It’ll be the HK crowd now they’ve been granted a right to reside here. It grates me. I’m amazed it’s not tackled by MPs but even the socialists who claim to want class equality are balls deep in BTL. Corbyn’s son is a prime example. by Haircutx1 (Sat 24th Apr 2021 4:19pm)
  • REMOVED It’s a hang out for Pakistanis and British Pakistanis. They don’t drink so their form of socialising is meeting outside of kebab houses and chicken shops and eating a kebab or bag of chickens wings in the car. Typically they park up (badly), buy some chicken, eat it in the car 3-4 deep whilst simultaneously all texting on their phones and giving the hard stare at passers by walking past, finish the meal, chuck the rubbish out of the window on to the road (thanks guys), pull away without indicating as quickly and erratically as they can and then race down the road at 70mph, spin it round, then do about 10 laps of Shawlands as fast and loudly as they can before heading home. Multi-generational living means there’s a bit more expendable cash which is usually spent on Mercs, Audis and BMWs. It has to be one of those 3 brands - deviation to any other brand is frowned upon. by Haircutx1 (Sun 25th Apr 2021 11:13am)
  • You only have to look at the number of vape stores and phone accessory stores in tradeston that have zero trade, all next to each other to and all ran by South Asians to realise the above is true. I remember walking through thinking “this is a crap location for a shop. And why’s there so many of the same type of store?” before it hit me it must be a front for criminal enterprise. by Haircutx1 (Sun 25th Apr 2021 11:17am)
  • It’s pretty common for tourists to comment about the rubbish I’m afraid ☚ī¸ I love Glasgow but it’s grim for waste. Honestly with the election this close if someone ran a campaign that included: X Litter cleaned up properly X Pot holes mended X Graffiti clean up ... then I’d be happy. All easy wins. The amount of political leaflets I’ve had shoved through my door and no ones mentioned any of the above grates me. I just feel if we as a city can’t fix any of the little issues what hope do we have of tacking the big ones. Let’s face it, in the run up to the election we’re being offered independence or remaining in the Union, the choice of communism or capitalism (and everything in between) and not one of them cunts has mentioning cleaning the streets. by Haircutx1 (Tue 27th Apr 2021 2:51pm)
  • It’s mad isn’t it. I walk that way quite a lot. Strange place Pollokshaws as the new flats aren’t cheap but there’s not that much to do in way of cafes or bars unless you walk to Shawlands. Shame they don’t knock down the abandoned precinct and build a decent set of shops (bars, cafes etc) on the site. by Haircutx1 (Sat 1st May 2021 11:15am)

  • Mate your assuming these Turkish barbers have been to a barbering school or college. They’ve been taught one basic haircut in their national military service and then they’re moving to the UK when national service is over and passing themselves off as barbers. Any proper barber can do a scissor cut you’re absolutely right which is proof if any is needed that these guy’s aren’t proper hairdressers. These “Cash only” chancers offering one haircut and one haircut only (skin fade) that are opening up all over the UK have a bit of a cheek to pass themselves off as proper hairdressers. Funny how they’re mostly empty during the day too and only accept cash........ must been running a similar business to all those vape stores in Tradeston that are never busy yet always open and those phone case stores that are also cash only and not too busy. by Haircutx1 (Fri 7th May 2021 9:34pm)
  • Are you saying debate is facist then? Or even any explanation of the the events which doesn’t fit how you have described them are facist? The most “facist” comments I’ve read on this post are yours I’m afraid - seems you’re the only one trying to silence people and using bully tactics of shouting people down and swearing at them to either silence them or force a change of opinion. The sheer irony of your hypocrisy seems to be lost on you though. by Haircutx1 (Thu 13th May 2021 4:02pm)
  • Aggressive, anti-social and targeted harassment at myself by yourself because I questioned your opinion. Classic facism. This type of behaviour was common in with facists in the 1930s trying to bully and silence people. Disgusting behaviour. Grow up. by Haircutx1 (Thu 13th May 2021 4:07pm)
  • “Muslim” isn’t a race, it’s a religion. You can’t be racist against Muslims as it isn’t a race. Point in case there are Asian, Black and white Muslims. Before you ask as you don’t seem very bright - the white Muslim countries are Bosnia and Herzegovina, Albania, Kosovo etc “Try this on white people on Christmas Eve” is a really bizarre statement and incredibly racist. So all white people are Christian? Being white isn’t a pre-requisite of Christianity and vice-versa. “TOTALLY RACIST act by the police” is another stupid statement. The police of all races in this country are there to uphold the law, they’re not targeting these men because of their race, they’re targeting them (whether you like this or not) because they broke the law. The ignorance in your reply is breathtaking. It’s truly frightening someone with your low level of both social awareness and intellectual capacity gets to vote. by Haircutx1 (Thu 13th May 2021 10:01pm)

  • With respect you’ve no idea whether they’re facing persecution or not. That’s an assumption on your behalf - plenty of migrants that get deported do so as they either arrive illegally or overstay Visas, just like what would happen to me if I tried the same in the US or Australia. I’d hazard a guess and say that the very reason they’re in the process of being deported is because they’ve not been able to prove any claims of persecution and they are just two men who’ve arrived illegally to work. by Haircutx1 (Thu 13th May 2021 10:12pm)

  • You know who else who was obsessed with measuring intelligence? Mensa. And bearing in mind you clearly have the intellectual capacity of someone who would struggle to read the Beano and write in crayon, I wouldn’t bother applying. Not everything is a racist conspiracy you utter tit 😂 Read a book. Oh wait. Your response will be “books are racist!” or something else equally bizarre đŸ¤Ŗ😂 by Haircutx1 (Fri 14th May 2021 9:07am)
  • “Ah shit he’s got a factual response which flies in the face of what I’m saying.... how do I respond? • So if one group views an object as facist it’s facist? That’s your reasoning? And your frame of reference for this sentiment is a group of hard-left protestors at an anti-deportation rally? And additionally - the group have misinterpreted the symbol as one thing and it’s actually something else? No I still think you’re incredibly stupid. I’ve not even got the time to debate you as you’re clearly so dense I don’t think you’d be able to effectively understand any reason or logic that doesn’t fit you very limited ability to process thoughts. by Haircutx1 (Fri 14th May 2021 9:24am)

  • Yeh it’s a shame for them. I know some people in the industry and she never lets them know until the very last minute if at all. Point in case the licensing trade association of Scotland had to find out off the news last time as she completely bypassed them when the announcement was made. It was bad enough there was no consultation but to just completely go over there heads by deciding not to communicate with them is extremely lax. I’m not a fan of hers, but for those that are i begrudge she never gets held accountable for anything as there’s this cult of personality around here. I wish people in her support would call her out at times. Edit. Point in case people downvoting what I’ve said because it paints her in a bad light. It’s mental. by Haircutx1 (Fri 14th May 2021 5:00pm)
  • I agree with you. EID will cause a huge spike. It’ll be hundreds of people shoulder to shoulder eating and celebrating, so essentially like what would happen in a pub without the alcohol. by Haircutx1 (Fri 14th May 2021 5:05pm)
  • You’ve not denied it then? And so we’ve spotted the plastic Glaswegian. The Tourist 😂 Jog on pal 😎 You were easier to read then the Beano 😂 by Haircutx1 (Fri 14th May 2021 10:26pm)
  • I’d agree with the start of your statement. It’s hard to engage in debate with people here as “Boris bad man, Sturgeon good” is the rock used to beat people with. It’s a mantra for people and if you try and debate it they just repeat the same line but louder until they drown you out and think they’ve won. Most of my family are hardline SNP and the amount of misinformation they believe is a bit shocking at times. They tend to blame Boris for everything without fact checking or reading up. Hence NS gets away with so much as she just deflects down south and her fans lap it up. I’m also a Celtic ST holder and on the forums our support bizarrely blame everything wrong with the club on the “Tories” weirdly. For instance we’ve not signed a new CB - the response is “what do you expect with Tories running the club!! 😡” it’s mental. It’s like an irrational response - rather than look closer at an issue it’s just deflect it down south. I’m not a fan of Sturgeon (which I think is clear) mostly because I think she’s done fuck all for Scotland - her desire for independence is driven not by a love of Scotland, but of a hatred of the English and that’s why she’s failing the country. I feel she’ll run us in to the ground to force the break which isn’t the right way to go about things. I disagree with the second sentiment of yours (with respect) - Boris initially had bad start to the pandemic but the later 2/3s have been lauded by European leaders as our vaccine rollout blew the EU nations out of the water. Even the hardline SNP in my family have admitted as much to me. by Haircutx1 (Fri 14th May 2021 10:36pm)
  • I remember as a kid loving car boots (‘90s) and then all of a sudden it was just stall after stall of people selling new cheap shitty items from wholesalers. Like DHGate but in a field instead of online. I kind of felt there should have been rules in place that all items were actually second hand else the place just becomes an outdoor market selling cheap Chinese tat. by Haircutx1 (Sat 15th May 2021 10:33pm)
  • There’s been an large amount of rapes reported there the past few years in the News (and probably a lot of similar offences unreported). You post is pretty ignorant to be honest - I’d rather people feel safe in the park than be at risk of rape. Also the Police (not the “pigs” as you so disgustingly put it) are there to keep us safe - and that includes arresting said rapists in the park as they have been doing. Also stating you’re going to “knock cameras off” is criminal damage - we pay a fortune in council tax so when idiots like yourself want to wantonly cause criminal damage because you see yourself as some sort of modern day revolutionary fighting this oppressive state you’ve dreamt up in your head it really pisses off those of us that work and pay tax for cameras etc. Your idiotic comment along the lines of the “only crimes committed in Kelvingrove is young people drinking too much” is both wrong and incredibly naive and ignorant. Here’s a crime in the park this year: https://www.thescottishsun.co.uk/news/scottish-news/5346921/glasgow-kelvingrove-park-joseph-hail-rape-bonnyridge/ That’s a bit more serious then a few people getting stuck in to a few cans of beer isn’t it? Moron. by Haircutx1 (Sun 16th May 2021 3:08pm)
  • “No need for personal attacks” says the poster who labelled all police “pigs” 🙄😂 Do you not see the irony here? I’ll reiterate my comments - you are a moron. It’s the stupidity of every single comment you’ve made - it’s breathtaking how completely unaware you are of how you and your views come across to other (normal) people. You’re the type of person (having read your posts here) that throws out accusations of the zeitgeist hoping some will stick - “well yeh but, BLM, Racism, Facism!” because you want to come across as this super egalitarian, ultra ethical white knight when in fact you’re a tit who doesn’t really know much about what they’re talking about? You’re a prawn. As soon as you realised you didn’t have a leg to stand on you chucked out every slur you could think of - the scattergun approach, which is argumentative go to tactic of someone who would probably struggle to write with a crayon. • I’ll get downvoted but whatever we’re told in Scotland is all smoke and mirrors because the FM looks to England and then decides what to roll out strategy-wise retrospectively with her priority being to score points and gain the upper hand politically. Consequently we’ll always be (and have been) weeks behind the rest of the UK and suffering harsher lockdown conditions than they are. Every decision she’s made during the pandemic isn’t driven by what’s best for Scotland but rather a retrospective gamble hoping England will cock things up so she can point fingers. It’s frustrating and to be honest I’m well past listening to or caring about what the SNP tell us now. by Haircutx1 (Sun 30th May 2021 6:12pm)

  • It’s a myriad of factors: You’ve got cash rich Americans, Canadians, Australians, English etc selling up in their home countries and coming over with hundreds of thousands in cash. I know two English people with over £100k each and a Canadian with £200k and they’re blowing the locals out the water so to speak when it comes to offers. These aren’t super wealthy people either - just their housing market is hotter than ours. Then you’ve got your Scottish developers and BTL landlords. This includes Scottish parents buying a flat for their kid as an investment and to live in whilst at Uni. Factor in to the Scottish AirBnB crowd. Then you’ve your Chinese and Pakistani BTL landlords. Some of them haven’t even stepped foot in the country. Check the landlord registry to see how many landlords in your area aren’t even in the UK. The Hong Kongese - 300,000 will take up the Visa scheme. A lot of them are already here buying properties. Check subreddits about UK investing and they’re asking how to buy second and third properties too. Social housing - a large percentage of new builds is allocated to the social. So a lot of properties being built not even entering the housing market proper (before anyone chips in my Dad lived in social housing growing up). Refugees - Glasgow has the second highest population of refugees in the UK now. Where do you think they are getting housed? Again, houses taken off the market causes shortages and drives up prices for everyone else. My issue here is that Glasgow seems blind to the high percentage of chancers who are just economic migrants and not refugees - but hey, Glasgow’s been vocal on it (everyone’s welcome/end boarders etc) and well a land without boarders is always going to be overpopulated which results in a premium on housing. And Scotland is still pushing for unlimited EU citizens to move over and guess what? Buy or rent houses and drive up house prices even further. I’m not knocking this as my family have migrated from various EU counties (Ireland, Italy, Sweden, France etc) but at least acknowledge the affect it has on house prices. I feel people seem to not want to accept the hard facts that greater migration results in higher house prices? Factor in super cheap lending and near unlimited first time buyer schemes and here we are. I’ll get downvoted as people will think I’m against refugees or EU freedom of movement etc and that’s by Haircutx1 (Fri 4th Jun 2021 11:28am)

Might as well just write “we don’t want to declare enough tax on all the profits we’re making”. Absolutely abhorrent when you think how much scum bags doing this deprive them NHS, schools and local communities of funding. I personally refuse to do business with cash only businesses - at best case they’re ripping off the tax payer, worst case laundering money. by Haircutx1 (Thu 15th Jul 2021 7:18pm)
  • Here’s proof: Two cases of African migrants burning Churches - one was a Refugee and one presumed to be a Refugee. I assume this was what was meant by “exempt from blame and criticism” as a lot of people (yourself included I presume) seem to want to believe a world with unlimited migration from different cultures doesn’t have any downsides and never seem to want to criticise a lot of terrible events that are the result of a loose policy in regards to immigration. https://www.theguardian.com/world/2020/jul/26/nantes-cathedral-fire-volunteer-arrested-and-charged-with-arson https://www.express.co.uk/news/world/749729/muslim-migrant-gambia-sets-fire-nativity-scene-foggia by Haircutx1 (Sat 31st Jul 2021 1:05am)
  • Sounds great 🙄 So why are you asking questions in other posts you’ve made essentially about how Deliveroo works? This is all within the past two weeks or so? So if you’ve this amazing idea for a start that involves wanting to recruit delivery drivers - why are you only just now asking questions about rival established delivery firms you don’t know the answer to? You’ve even admitted in previous posts you’re a deliveroo driver - and also someone that runs a fantastic start up recruiting other drivers? You’re asking all these other questions about Deliveroo - which implies you really don’t understand their business model which I’m assuming you’re basing some of yours on, only 5 days ago? Is this a scam or just a really badly thought out business idea? by Haircutx1 (Sun 1st Aug 2021 9:30pm)
  • “The very reason people want to live here”. And that reason isn’t cunts like you with an attitude; gate-keeping who can and can’t move to Glasgow. You prawn. by Haircutx1 (Thu 12th Aug 2021 12:54pm)
  • I bought one that went for £5k over and lost out on one just prior to that which went for £17,100 over (which was just over 10%). It’s literally down to chance whether there’s multiple bidders or just one or two. The problem is we’re both not building enough new homes and artificially inflating the population through mass immigration - like it or not that’s what’s driving house prices. Will there be a drop in prices? I just can’t see it - my neighbour is an EA and thinks it’ll dip but couldn’t explain why he thought that other than prices are too high and rising too fast. by Haircutx1 (Mon 16th Aug 2021 9:39pm)
  • With respect mate your deposit is being eroded away two fold - so you’ll be getting less than 1% on any savings (0.5% if you’re lucky) whilst inflation is running rampant thanks to all the quantitative easing in place to cope with furlough etc. Add to that house price inflation (HPI) is currently 6.9% for the whole of Scotland so probably closer to 10% for desirable areas in the Southside and West End. If a property was £200k a year ago with HPI at 10% that’s an additional £20k. Even at the official figures of 6.9% for Scotland that’s £13,800. You’d literally need to try and save more than the rate of HPI or you’re not actually adding to a deposit in real terms (if that makes sense), just treading water. It’s a shit situation - there’s more people moving to the country than houses being built to cater for those numbers and here we are. I read recently at our current immigration rates (both legal and the current 500+ people arriving illegally a day) we need to build a house every 6 mins to keep up - and that isn’t going to happen. And that’s just homes for new arrivals - doesn’t even make a dent on all the people already living here needing homes. by Haircutx1 (Mon 16th Aug 2021 9:47pm)

  • But if they’re spending it on heroin you’re both funding the heroin trade and whatever other illegal activities those groups in that trade are involved in (people trafficking etc). I really hate the fact people can so easily justify giving someone money for hard drugs which those same addicts are then handing straight over to a scum of the Earth drug dealer. By giving to addicts you’re essentially lining the pockets of drug dealers and then justifying it by making out it’s some sort of super egalitarian gesture when it really isn’t - it’s just a cheap way for you to get a little bit of instant gratification by giving money to someone and then lying to yourself about the justification of it in order to feel good. by Haircutx1 (Tue 5th Oct 2021 8:39pm)

  • DELETED With respect I think you’ve largely imagined this (through some sort of confirmation bias) - if anything I’ve noticed a decrease in the number of beggars out and about in the centre. And the only beggars I see southside are addicts and Romani gang members, I can’t recall ever seeing someone that wasn’t fraudulently claiming homelessness (Romani gangs) or on drugs/drink (before anyone asks - you can usually tell: nodding out, pissed themselves through drink etc). For the record there was a stop on evictions for over a year with Covid and even with that ended, I very much doubt you’d see a huge increase of evictions with the backlog in the courts, turn around times etc since then. Not enough time has passed. It’s a shame there is such a high number of people making fictitious asylum claims being welcomed in Glasgow (let’s welcome real refugees, not frauds) as they’ve taken up all the hotel and housing accommodation that could go to the homeless who need it. by Haircutx1 (Sun 24th Oct 2021 10:12am)
  • The SNP are an absolute joke. Can’t wait to see how they’ll try and blame the Tories or the previous Labour government for the mess they’ve made of COP26. I loved the “yeh but Edinburgh is worse” comments from GCC about the absolute state of the city - typical deflection from a bunch of absolutely incompetent twats, taking huge salaries and charging us all a fucking fortune in tax. by Haircutx1 (Mon 25th Oct 2021 10:36am)
  • For someone promoting finding answers to climate change she seems to use a lot of trains, boats and planes in a year. She could do all this via social media from one place - it’s massively self indulgent not too. She’s making a fortune touring the world lecturing us all about not doing the same. Go ahead and down vote, I’m just fed up of the hypocrisy of people telling us not to do things when they’re getting rich and experienced from doing the same. Anyone mentioning the boats she uses are wind powered, they still need to be crewed and the crews fly in on planes. Her recent voyage to NY on a wind powered boat need a crew of 6 for both legs of the journey, they all flew in 😑 On top of that she’s a child whose literally fed what to say - she doesn’t have the analytical ability to understand climate change from understanding the facts on either side of the argument, merely she just regurgitates sound bites fed to her whilst getting emotional to Ypres the issue home. No doubt they’ll be people (who’ve also flown in, enjoyed food, drink and accommodation from their respective tax payers) tripping over themselves for a photo opportunity. by Haircutx1 (Sun 31st Oct 2021 12:06pm)

  • Why bother? Lol. Sturgeon has spoke out against the Cambo oil field effectively ruining any chances of oil riches now she’s in bed with the Greens and having reimagined how she’ll fund Independence now she’s decided we don’t need the oil she was bleating on about prior to the Indy Ref. (Funny how we were going to be a super rich independent nation on our massive oil reserves before she backtracked on oil and chased Greta Thurnberg around COP for a selfie having decided to go green). • It’s not just food delivery drivers - parcel delivery drivers (if the close door is open) just walk in and leave the parcel by the door. They don’t buzz, don’t knock just leave it and go. It’s a bit grating at times as it’d be nice to know there’s valuable items outside the door for hours for anyone to steal. I’ve noticed some drivers when people in out flat aren’t in, instead of posting the “we missed you” note through their door just leave it on the floor of the close by the main door….. obvs this can blow away, get thrown away, missed etc. It’s really lazy - I appreciate they’re up against it but if a note is for flat 3/2 then stick it through the door of flat 3/2, not on the mat of the main door. Worst I ever saw was about 5 years ago. I was at work and DHL turned up, parked their van at the opening to the car park, dropped a note on the floor and drove off lol. I was at the window and happened to be looking out, spotted this in disbelief and went to get the “sorry we missed you” slip 🙄 I guess the driver had a bad day but it’s not acceptable if someone’s waiting on a present for someone or something else important. Still can’t work out why they’d do that other than the driver being really pissed off and not caring about the job anymore. Bizarre thing to do. by Haircutx1 (Sat 11th Dec 2021 7:42pm)
  • Good luck with the interview mate. I actually ruined a suit on the way to an interview and ended up wearing black jeans, a tie and a white shirt and got the job. The lady interviewing was very prim and proper and my opening line after introducing myself was essentially “apologies I’m not in a suit, X happened to it”. You could get trousers, tie and a shirt for probably £20 at Tesco if that helps. by Haircutx1 (Tue 21st Dec 2021 5:49pm)

  • “How can we access them?” Do you think that’s a fair question? Do you think people and families living in tower blocks want randoms like yourself entering their building (which is their home) at all hours of the day and night to at best sight see and at worst commit acts of vandalism? Do you not think even if someone advised you how to do this on a public forum so you could sight see, others with less morals might see the post and learn how to gain access for more nefarious reasons which poses a danger? by Haircutx1 (Sat 8th Jan 2022 6:04pm)
  • I disagree with the painting bit. If you’ve stated they can’t change things like the paint they can’t change things like the paint. I know a guy who let his flat out when he moved in with the Mrs and said they couldn’t paint anything (he’d just had it done) and they painted everything (including the fireplace) garish colours. Cost him a lot of money to undo all the damage when they moved out and he sold the place. by Haircutx1 (Mon 17th Jan 2022 10:54am)
  • Whoever organised the gig paid a biker organisation (I can’t recall which) to run the security. NoFx upset them and that’s what caused the fallout. • Selfridges has a stand doing it now in the Barbour section of their Glasgow store. Not sure how much I’d trust them to do it though! It’s a horrible task to do it yourself though and the wax alone costs £12 so £35 isn’t a lot to pay Barbour to do it to be honest. by Haircutx1 (Tue 8th Mar 2022 8:47pm)
  • I love Glasgow, that said I think you’re bonkers moving from Australia to Glasgow! The new Celtic manager Ange Postecoglu is Australian so people will probably mention him to you I’d assume at some point. Football in Glasgow is huge, people don’t seem to like many other sports in the city. The weather is odd here - some times it’s hot and wet at the same time so you’ll need a light weight rain coat with a hood. Consequently I’ve often been walking to work absolutely roasting and soaked at the same time and it’s not a nice experience lol. I’m a man and usually carry a small umbrella in my backpack when I’m out at lunch as it can (anywhere in the UK) bucket it down for no reason and you’ll be soaked without one. by Haircutx1 (Mon 14th Mar 2022 8:43am)
